So, for the record. Ruby and Yang are both at Signal Accadamy right now.

Ruby is 12 (13 real soon)

The wolf faunus kid is 13 (14 real soon)

Yang is 15

One week later...

The girl in red walked down the crowded streets, enjoying the sights with her older sister. Well, her sister was the only one enjoying herself, watching the mini tournament for the kids. Ruby was too busy begging said sister for money, having eyed a cookie cart.

"C'mon sis! Pleeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaase?" She asked desperately. Her blonde sister just sighed,

"Rubes, what the heck happened to the money from your allowance?" she asked.

"Uh, well. I kinda gave it to this kinda homeless kid who kinda needed it more than I did and-" Ruby tried to explain, but her sister just shook her head and laughed.

"Fine, here's 5 lien, get yourself some cookies." she grinned, holding out the money.

She gave the older girl a hug. "Thanks Yang! You're the best!" she thanked her sister, and sped off to get one of those delicious bags of cookies. Disappearing in a cloud of petals, she gave her brightest smile to the vendor, "A bag of cookies, please?" handing the vendor the 5 lien. The woman in charge nodded and handed her a bag of chocolate chip cookies.

"You're lucky little lady. That was the last bag. Enjoy." The woman smiled.

Ruby walked away with a spring in her step and immediately began eating a cookie, chewing on that sugary goodness in bliss. She thought back to the wolf boy, wondering where he was now.

She swallowed the cookie. Hopefully, he was enjoying himself, like she was! Eating cookies and having fun! She brought her hand back up and took another bite out of the thin air.

Wait.

What...?

She looked down at her hands, no cookie, no bag. Ruby was just eating cookies, and now she isn't. Because it isn't there. Because her cookies are missing. She looks around wildly to see if she dropped them. She only sees one person with cookies in hand, wearing a battered white hoodie with wolf faunus ears. Her cookies are gone. They disappeared off to nowhere-

Wolf faunus…

White hoodie…

She looks back at the person with the cookies. The same white hoodie, with silvery ears, and the same black jeans with battered boots. Putting a half eaten cookie in a bag of cookies. Her cookies.

And on that day, a very important lesson was revealed to the people of Vale.

That no one.

Not one fucking person

Nobody gets in the way of Ruby Rose and her cookies.

A scream erupts from her, telling a tale of woe and regret.

Of madness and monsters.

Of thieves and heroes.

Of cookies and cookies.

OF COOKIES AND COOKIES.

"FOR THE COOKIES!"

The faunus turned around, his senses screaming danger. But he didn't see anything but a massive storm of rose petals... What. He threw himself to the left and barely dodged a massive storm of roses. The boy could barely make out the figure of a caped girl- cloak billowing in the wind. All he could do was scramble back to his feet to dart into the nearest alleyway.

As soon as he committed, the faunus realized his mistake. The alley was a dead end, the only way out blocked by the future reaper clad in red.

And then a voice spoke...

"YOU…" The voice terrifying as it is accusatory, but sounds strangely familiar.

"Do uh… Do I know you?" he asks, beginning to tremble a bit.

"FIRST, YOU STEAL MY WALLET. NOW YOU STEAL MY COOKIES…" The crimson monstrosity gets closer.

"Uh, were you the kid who cried on my shoulder for five minutes strai-"

"SHUT UP! WE'RE ALMOST THE SAME AGE!"

"Okay." the faunus looks down, relieved. Last time, the puppy eyes had given given him witness to one of the strongest reactions he had ever observed from anyone-

"YOU HAVE MY COOKIES…" the girl gave him a cold stare, "GIVE THEM BACK, AND I MAY JUST SPARE YOUR LIFE…"

That voice. It sent shivers down his spine. The cold, monotonous tone of a powerful being. But if there was one thing growing up on the streets had taught him, it was to use every advantage he got.

The boy was shivering in terror. Good. No cookie stealer that dared to steal from her should ever go unpunished. He looked at her with his pathetic brown eyes, melting into… a helpless mess…

Oh no… What has she done? Those innocent eyes staring wide at her, begging her for help. It was like last time, only it's her fault. She hurt him… What kind of huntress was she becoming?

Just as she was about to run over and cry (again), she remembered something very important. That she hadn't cornered him into this alleyway for some petty crime or mean prank. He stole her cookies. HERS. Unforgivable. Even if those eyes beg for the forgiveness required, there was no way she could let this go unpunished.

Ruby snatched her cookies from the faunus. She was so lucky that her cookies hadn't been smashed in the short chase. Before she could decide on his fate, he spoke, "Can I have half?"

"No." she scowled.

"A quarter?"

"No."

Before he could say anything more- she took out a cookie- the half eaten one. She broke it in two, giving him one half of it along with a half-hearted murderous glare. Wolf boy's ears twitched, and gave her a look that said, are you kidding me? Ruby crossed her arms, matching his glare with a look of her own. Before either of them could say a word, Ruby heard the cries of a very angry and very worried Yang.

She must have been so worried when she heard my scream before my battle-cry.

While Ruby may delight in the torture of the cookie thief, she didn't feel like a stressed Yang would be suitable punishment for him. She walked backwards, out of the alleyway, eyes glued to his.

Every. Step. Of. The. Way.

Right out of the alleyway, she felt the hug of a very distressed Yang.

"RUBY! ARE YOU ALRIGHT? WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN?" she yells. The red hooded girl looked down and sighed glumly.

"I lost a cookie."
