Chapter 5

Once the meeting with the general is over, Chuck goes into the kitchen, gets ready to have breakfast. Making a coffee and taking out the cereal, he sits down to consume it all. His head begins to ramble about what his training will be like. Between the excited and the worried questions begin to crowd his mind.

They said they'll get me to train, but where will they take me? What will they make me do? What will they teach me? Besides using weapons what classes will I have to take? Will I become like other emotionless spies?

Immersing himself in his questions, without having an answer, he also thinks about what it would have meant for his sister, the person closest to him and the only one who had never betrayed him, along with Morgan, since he was a child. In his mind they 2 were the people who had kept him together after his parents left him. They were with him even after the Stanford debacle, when he thought he was being unfairly expelled, as it turned out, at the hands of his other best friend. To top it off his ex-girlfriend, whom he loved, had left him and further betrayed him to sleep with Bryce. He had only discovered them later, too, that it was all a lie, but it still hurt. The happiness of discovering that Bryce hadn't won Jill over him made him feel better, but the realization that Jill had betrayed him twice for Fulcrum had broken him once again. He paused further on these points thinking, how everyone in his life had lied to him or how they had made decisions for him. He would no longer allow anyone to decide his life.

For the past 2 years he had ended up in a world full of lies and secrets. His only purpose was to return to a normal life, he had never thought that his father's creation could make such a difference in the world. He had told Devon once that being a hero means taking care of the one you love. After discovering her father's story, she had changed her mind. Sthephen J Bartowski, aka Orion, was the real hero. Instead, he was just an insecure kid who wanted to live a normal life, between video games and movies. If it weren't for his handlers, he would be dead by now.

He thought of both of them, of Casey, who despite being a cold-hearted man, had proved to be a friend, had saved his life numerous times. After a few minutes Ellie and Devon with lots of new clothes and luggage in hand leave the room and approach Chuck, hugging him "I recommend Chuck, make yourself heard, have fun and stay with Sarah". Once gone, he returns to his room.
