"Ugh…"
She looked around her room, her eyes settling on her window.
Why is the sun so shiny?
Ruby stretched and started putting her books away. She hated studying, but dad said that if she got at least a B+ on the test, he would be open to negotiating how much she went out to Vale.
She sighed and began the long journey to get ready, dress, corset, shoes, blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah…
Her routine was so boring, maybe she should shorten it a bit?
… And finally after making sure the bolt was secured on Crescent Rose, she headed downstairs for breakfast. As she approached the staircase, she heard the familiar noise of arguing.
"...Yang, I'm begging you to just stop."
"I'm finally making some progress, dad. Why would I stop?"
"What, so I'm supposed to just give you my blessing when I get a call from the cops because you were searching in Vale's RED LIGHT district!?"
"Dad, it's not actually called-"
"DO YOU KNOW WHY IT'S CALLED THAT!?"
Ruby descended the steps and made a turn into the kitchen,
"G'morning…" The red cloaked girl greeted her family.
She wished she had her scroll out to capture their faces as they both jumped.
"R-Ruby? I thought you left earlier this morning, it's one o'clock!" Her dad exclaimed…
Wait, what?
She looked at the clock in panic. Oh no…
"AAAAAAh! I'M LATE!"
He relaxed under the tree in the park, waiting.
And waiting.
He didn't have a book or anything so he got a bit bored.
Ruby was late, it must have been half an hour already. Was she trying on purpose to get on his nerves? Did she forget?
Did she already hate him?
Did she finally accept how useless he was?
Maybe she would finally-
"Wynnie!"
That was all the warning he received before a body rocketing at god knows what speeds made contact with his body, wrapping her arms around him. And he was forced to do nothing but let her tackle him to the ground.
There are fundamental laws to every universe.
And fundamental law number three-hundred seventy-six dictates that it was useless to struggle against a Ruby hug.
But even against such a force of nature, he still struggled against it. That was simply who he was. A boy who fought against-
"Stop moving around so much!" Ruby demanded.
"GAH- HELP! SOMEONE HELP ME!" The poor boy pleaded out.
"Hah! You- enrgnh… No one's coming to save you now!"
A yelp of discomfort and agony escaped from his lips and he struggled and protested against the devil girl.
As luck would have it, no one was immune to the puppy eyes.
And as his eyes welled up with tears and flattened his ears, he remembered an important fact.
Just because she was susceptible to those all-protecting eyes didn't mean that she would let him go.
"W-what? DON'T CRY! Have no fear, I won't let go! JUST DON'T CRY! I'LL GIVE YOU COOKIES!"
Fuck.
She squeezed him harder making it difficult to breath. If there was the slightest chance to get Ruby to let go, it was gone by now. All he could do was suffer her grip.
It was kind of relaxing actually.
…
…
…
"You can let go now."
"... zzz..."
"... Ruby?"
"... cookies, come baaack…"
"Are you- are you asleep…?"
"Mrmph…" She snuggled up closer to him, and he managed to catch a glimpse of the heavy bags under her eyes. Was she not getting enough sleep?
"Hey... Ruby?" he tried to shake her gently awake, did she use all of her energy getting here or something?
Drool leaked from her mouth... Did she actually…?
Sleepily, she started mumbling, "Besht…"
Best...
"Frind…"
Friend?
"...ynnie."
…
…
He carefully re-adjusted his position to be more comfortable, freeing his arms to pull her hood over her head. Barely managing to worm out of her grasp, he rolled on to his back right next to her and started cloud gazing.
He looked over to the best person in the world, busy dreaming of cookies. And friends.
… Ruby needed her sleep.
Yo. Y'all might wanna know when the party thing is done.
Answer: I don't fucking know.
:(
Soon though.
I think.
