Peals of laughter bounced off the office walls. In the thick of it is the sidekick of Nighteye, Bubble Girl. She was being assaulted by the hero with a tickling device. Sakura grimaced at the thought of being strapped and tickled hard.
It was like Nighteye's obsession with being positive and Kakashi to his po- romance novel. Imagining the two, side by side was off-putting.
Pale hair almost touched the office floor when she found a seat to sit on. She eyed her ends and grimaced at the thought of the hair dirtied by that. Sakura felt that her hair was still too long (It was longer than what she had before the Chunin Exams).
The laughter stopped and the sources of it stared at her. Sakura felt the stares and waved it off and said, "My hair is too long. I might need to cut it."
Nighteye gazed down towards he ends of her hair and adjusted his glasses. "Yes, it is quite long."
Humming, she stared at her fingers before gathering Chakra. The tips glowed a soft blue. Nighteye and Bubble Girl studied her hand from a distance. Sakura looked up and asked, "You don't mind me making a mess for a moment, right?"
"Go ahead."
With that, the chakra elongated and formed into a sharp blade. She held her hair in one hand by her waist and swiped her Chakra covered hand.
Pale hair decorated the floor as she swiped her hand again.
Her audience, fascinated with her ability, not so subtly asked her questions. She hummed then looked at the two, "It's a secret."
\\
The office was quiet for quite some time. Aside from the occasional office noise, it was quiet. The ugly desk in the room made her want to throw it out. All Might merchandise littered everywhere.
The repeated shuffling of papers was getting on her nerves. Her limbs tingled, wanting to do something. Her fingers tapped, mimicking Bubble Girl's typing. She let out a groan and faced Nighteye.
"What's your quirk?" She initiated.
"It's a secret." He replied, quoting her previous words. It grated on her nerves and she could feel his smugness lacing his voice from that.
"Can you tell me how it works?"
"No."
"I'll tell you what I can do, if you do the same." She offered, hoping he'll take the bait. Nighteye seemed to pause for a moment and her calculated chances of finding out increased.
Nighteye sighed and adjusted his glasses, "Foresight, yours?"
At that, Sakura feigned thinking before saying, "Healing," Nighteye eyed her intensely, they already knew about that, "andmaybesomesuperstrength." She said in one breath.
Bubble Girl's typing paused.
"What was that?" Nighteye asked. The ugly desk was still there.
"Do you like this desk?" Sakura asked pointing towards the ugly desk.
"No, but it's sturdy." It would be better to show them and she wanted to break something. She smiled.
"What are you doing?" Nighteye stood up.
"Making you change your ugly desk. I'll give you a demonstration. " She placed her finger down the desk and it collapsed. Papers flew in different directions and splinters littered the floor.
Nighteye, fortunately, was not angry. But he let out a tired sigh, "You're cleaning up this mess."
Sakura smiled even wider, finally, she has something to do and an excuse to peep. She saluted, "Yes, Sir."
\\
The new desk arrived later and it was not as ugly as the destroyed one. She was picking up the papers and filing them into their respective filers as Bubble Girl showed her.
A file caught her eye as it had a blurry photo. Kai Chisaki.
"Kai Chisaki of Shie Hassaikai," Nighteye said from behind her. She turned around to face him, "What's so special about him that you're doing," She read the file again, "uhh... surveillance on him?"
"All that you need to know is that Shie Hassakai is a small-scale villain group and you don't need to involve yourself into Hero Matters as you are a civilian." Nighteye said while picking up the paper from her hand and filing it away.
"So you're spying on some dude invo- no, possibly leading the," She paused, "what do you call that? A yakuza? That might affect the general population that caused the heroes to do observations on them." She said what she had concluded and read from the file. Nighteye looked at her with his keen sight.
"So?" Sakura waited for a response,
"You are correct on your postulation." She beamed. "However, as I have said before, you are not to concern yourself with Hero Work as you are not a Hero."
"Oh come on!" She threw her hands up high almost hitting Nighteye. "I bet you I can get more observations in one afternoon than what you got from the what?" She pondered, "past few days."
Sakura wanted to do something than to laze around and she needs to know jack-shit about this world.
Nighteye's eyes glinted as he adjusted his glasses again. "Do pray tell, how you are going to get more information in one afternoon than what we got in the past few days?" He challenged and Sakura wasn't going to back down from a challenge. If there was one thing that she hadn't inherited from her master, it was her luck. Sakura is so going to win this.
"If I can get relevant information about that guy in one afternoon, I want no-one breathing down my back when I do something for the remainder of my stay." If she can get him to agree, she was basically free to do things without anyone watching her.
"A day, I'll accompany you to whatever you do," Nighteye started.
"That's not-" Sakura barely managed to squeak out her complaint when Nighteye shushed her.
"I won't involve myself into whatever you do as I barely care about that." He finished. Sakura quietly pondered his terms.
"A day, you'll watch and won't involve yourself into anything?" She clarified.
"Yes, anything. I just need you to be in my field of vision as Villains might still target you." Sakura noted that it was reasonable.
"Okay, that's fine. I can do that." She could deal with this. She held out her hand, "You got yourself a bet to lose, Nighteye."
Nighteye took her hand, his eyes staring at her. His eyes briefly shifting from yellow to purple.
Sakura saw that shift and acted like she hadn't seen that.
\\
"So you're really going to put a tracker on me?"
"Yes."
"Why? It's not like I'm going to escape." Sakura pointed out. Nighteye gave her a look.
"Hand me the tracker." Sakura relented.
\\
Sakura really didn't think that far ahead. She didn't have anything about this world except for a phone- given by Nighteye to contact him, with a built-in map. It would be useful if she somehow figures out how to use it.
She stood a block away from the building, thinking of how to use the phone in her hand. Her world had something similar but not as advance as the thing in her hand. Her brows furrowed as she studied the item.
"Do you need help with that phone, miss?" A cheery voice questioned her. She turned around.
A boy with blond hair and blue eyes stood near her, wearing a school uniform. Sakura looked towards the phone then back at him.
"Yes."
The boy smiled before gesturing to the phone in her hand, "May I?"
Sakura replied with a nod.
"This button here turns the phone on," The boy said while turning the phone on, "This here is the button to adjust its volume. The apps are used to do things specifically designed for it."
Sakura stopped paying attention and asked the boy, "Why'd you approach me?"
The boy paused and gave a smile, "Sir gave me instructions to help you just in case you didn't know something."
Sakura's brow twitched at the thought of being helpless and being watched but... it was nice of Nighteye to perceive it. Sakura held out her hand to retrieve the phone which the boy readily gave.
"Mirio Togata. But when I'm in hero uniform, LeMillion." The boy in front of her introduced. His bright blue eyes reminiscent of Naruto's, she winced at the reminder.
"Sakura," She paused. Something inside her made her stop saying her surname. "Just Sakura."
"Well then, Just Sakura. Sir gave me specific instructions to aide you discretely in the search but not to intervene." Mirio said while his clear blue eyes peered at hers.
"That's... fine with me." She said while studying her surroundings to where she'd start her search. Sakura looked back towards Mirio.
"Hope you can keep up with me, hero." She said to the blonde before disappearing from his sight. His eyes dashed left to right to look for clues and a brief flash of pink caught his eye. Mirio hummed at the challenge and followed after the female.
\\
Sakura looked down at the city below her, currently taking a break from scaling the buildings during her search. And to let the boy catch up to her.
"You know," She started as the rooftop's door opened. "Maybe you should use that quirk of yours to speed things up." The footsteps stopped beside her.
"Public use of quirks are forbidden unless you are a hero." Mirio stated.
"Aren't you one?" Sakura asked while manipulating chakra to her eyes even more.
"I am but I'm not in my hero costume and this was supposed to be done in discretion." Mirio breathed deeply and pointed out, "You are purposely waiting for me to catch up."
Sakura didn't reply.
"I can think of this as another thing to improve on," Mirio joined her in watching the people. "I aspire to save at least a million people and I need all the improvements I can do to achieve that."
Mirio didn't miss the slight twitch of her lips when she looked at him and asked, "How much does ice cream here costs?" He smiled.
"Depends, I know a place. Come."
\\
Sakura now stood inline waiting for their turn to buy ice cream. Mirio excitedly explained about the different flavors when he found out that Sakura was not familiar with some of them.
"My friend eats a lot of different types of food." He shared. Sakura hummed at that while spreading out her chakra around her, looking for something. Mirio's arm hairs stood to their ends and he suddenly quieted. His eyes gaining alertness. Sakura noticed and piped it down.
Sakura's mind went to a quick review of what she remembered from the file. Male.
"What the hell is mint chocolate?" She asked the male beside her. Mirio's tense form loosened but still alert.
"Well, it's mint ice cream with chocolate pieces in it." 185cm. Maybe, 186cm.
"I think I forgot something outside." Sakura immediately said before leaving quickly, dropping the chakra sense. "I'll try the mint chocolate."
Mirio then knew she found something. He knew that she didn't have anything on her except for the phone which she held. Mirio stayed in the line but kept his senses ready for anything.
\\
Sakura wandered down the alley in a minor genjutsu. Her chakra circulated to her eyes and ears with ease.
"I swear to Kami, I saw him here." Sakura whispered to herself.
"Saw who here?" A voice behind her said. Startled, she dropped her genjutsu. Cursed herself for her shitty sensing skills.
Sakura turned around to see a person wearing a bird mask. His dark brown hair looked even darker in the dim alley. Gold eyes seemed to glow from the rest of his features. A fur lined jacket and gloves ensemble. Dress shirt and dress pants with white sneakers. He greatly resembled the person in the blurry photo.
"My friend." His eyes narrowed at her. The clouds shifted, making some light brighten up the alley. Her pale pink hair turned lighter. Recognition filled his eyes when he saw her. The girl from All Might's final fight.
Sakura eyed his stance then back at his bird mask. A loud chirp came from above them and white liquid fell to his jacket. She thanked her Team and Master's luck.
"I think the birds don't want you wearing that." With her chakra enhanced sight, she didn't miss the subtle twitch of his eye and his skin forming blisters.
Subtly changing the chakra from her eyes to her nose, she smelled traces of disinfectants and antiseptic. Her nose scrunched up at the smell of bird shit.
Her target immediately turned around to leave. Sakura chewed on her cheek and offered, "I passed through a laundromat a while ago-"
"No." That wouldn't do. Sakura needed more information.
She feigned being friendly and reached her hand out, hoping he'll turn around to take it. "I'm Sakura."
She heard him sigh before stopping to eye her hand. "Kai."
Gloves. Mask. Disinfectant. Germaphobe? No, he's in an alley.
Then she sees him walking away from the alley, leaving her behind. In an instant, she sent some of her chakra to him, hoping he won't notice it(like how Mirio reacted to her chakra). Sakura knew her target is smart from the recognition and choosing to walk away then and there.
\\
"So, are you done with what you are supposed to do?" Mirio asked as soon as he got out of the store. He then handed her the mint chocolate flavored ice cream.
"Not yet." She replied, scrunching her nose at the taste of toothpaste and chocolate. Mirio laughed at her expression.
"Not a fan of mint with chocolate?" Sakura grimaced at the aftertaste, immediately getting rid of the ice cream.
"Never will be." She answered. She fumbled around her pockets to pick up the tracker.
"Nighteye won't mind if I get rid of this, won't he?" She asked Mirio, thinking of how she'll get close to Kai.
"I'm not sure." Mirio smiled unsurely. Sakura shrugged.
"That's good enough." Sakura said before leaving the blond behind again. She felt her chakra leaving her limited range fast and quickly followed it.
\\
Her hair danced with the breeze as she looked far ahead. Her target, a block away from where she stood. Mirio stood beside her trying to find what she is looking at but could find no-one in particular.
She closed her eyes and breathed. She shuffled through her memories to find a genjutsu to cover herself in, something stronger. She needed no-one to see her or feel her. Mirio saw her hands and fingers shifting through different forms and curiosity and confusion filled him. He then saw her vanish right in front of his eyes.
"What-"
"How do I look?" Sakura asked him.
"Gone." He managed to say, trying to look for her previous form.
"Good. It will take a moment." She said to him before leaving him once again.
\\
The city buzzed around her as she dashed from side to side, avoiding the civilians. She saw her target walking towards a vehicle with his jacket hanging from his arm, wiping his hand with a wipe. She then picked up the small tracker from her pocket.
She walked silently towards her target and could smell blood on him. Her eyes narrowed. She placed the tracker on him, taking the phone out and turning on its camera.
The shutter sound made her curse as she did not account for its noise. She quickly hid the phone when a hand gripped her arm. She immediately dropped the genjutsu to spare some chakra for her continued regeneration.
Blood dripped down and black ribbons painted her skin. Her rhombus activated from the damage inflicted. Sakura had felt her arm exploding from the contact, destroying her arm to a molecular level.
The people wearing masks around them paused and stood on guard. Disguised bodyguards. Sakura's brows furrowed and she pulled back her arm. Her target gripped her arm harder.
"What do you think you're doing?" He asked, eyeing her and her newly regenerated pink skin. Sakura remained silent. Minute blisters formed on his skin. She felt the sensation reducing which made her reduce the chakra output.
The guards around her moved closer, boxing her in. Mentally calculating different possibilities, they all counted on her removing her arm from his reach. Her other hand reached out behind her, forgetting that she had no ninja pouch.
"Fuck it." Risking her arm, she pulled on it with chakra then flipped backwards away from his reach. The sound of multiple footsteps alerted her that his bodyguards moved.
She looked down towards her arm repairing what was left from her arm's socket. The sleeve of her shirt destroyed in the process. She felt for the phone in the pocket and a flood of relief washed over her from its secured position.
Everyone was in a position ready to attack. Her target then held out his hand on hold at his guards, "Why don't we talk inside?"
His muffled voice filled the ears of his people with silent terror. Sakura noticed as the guards grew more tense.
"No." She said like how Kai did back in the alley. Her target's eye glinted at her defiance and the reference.
"Sakura." He addressed.
"Kai." She did the same.
When he shifted his stance, Sakura disappeared from their sights.
\\
Disheveled hair and ruined clothing met Mirio's eyes as Sakura arrived. He eyed the pink skin of her arm and the torn sleeve and the black ribbons adorning her skin. Everything he observed pointed to an attack.
"What happened?" His voice lacked humor and grew serious.
"Intel gathering." Sakura replied, combing through her locks. She deactivated her seal and the black ribbons receded back to a glowing rhombus. Green light encased her hand and ran it over the pink skin. She sighed.
"It doesn't look like it was just intel gathering." He pointed out. Sakura shrugged then tried to fix the ruined clothes.
"I also got rid of the tracker." At that, Mirio looked at her like she grew another head. She shook her head and dismissed the topic, "Let's just get out of here."
With that, they returned to the agency.
\\
The moment Nighteye saw her grin as soon as she stepped into the office, he knew that she had done what he thought was impossible. He has been proved wrong but his quirk had been proved right as always.
He eyed her appearance, noting the ripped sleeve. His eyes then trailed on to the person next to her, "Sakura. Mirio," The look on his intern's face says a lot but he needed them to say it in words.
"Report." He addressed his intern.
"Encountered target a block away from agency. Target figured out what I was assigned to do then left. I followed her around in the city before stopping in an ice cream shop. Sakura went out shortly after queueing. Rendezvous in front of the ice cream shop." Mirio paused seeing the hero gestured for him to stop.
"Something happened, Sakura?" Nighteye asked the female. Sakura only smiled and gestured that he should let Mirio finish. The hero gestured for the intern to proceed.
"Continuing target's search, we briefly stayed on one of the building's rooftops, a block away from the shop. Sakura asked me to stay there as she left. She came back without the tracker and scathed." Mirio finished. His seriousness washed away after reporting. A smile adorned his features as the hero studied him. Nighteye then dismissed the intern before turning towards the female.
"I'm not going to ask a formal report as you are not a hero. But I will ask this, what happened?" Nighteye now sat in his office chair and offered Sakura to sit across his desk. Sakura waited for a moment for any additional words.
"With details, please." Sakura once again, smiled at the hero and started to recall what had happened.
"After meeting Mirio, a block away from here, I scaled buildings." She paused to look at Nighteye. Seeing no reaction from him she continued, "I asked Mirio about ice cream while taking a break," Sakura thought of how to say what happened when she first found Kai.
"I had a feeling someone was in an alley near the shop." She said in one breath.
"You had a feeling?" Nighteye asked for clarification. She replied with a yes.
"I went in the alley and Kai found me, instead of me finding him." She paused again thinking about the bird, barely holding back her laugh.
"Bird shit fell on him," At this Nighteye's lips twitched. "He appeared to not like dirty things, because of the bird mask and gloves. And he looked ready to leave when shit fell on him. He smelled faintly of disinfectants. Then he left after I offered my name and him doing the same."
"Kai Chisaki left the alley and I returned to the front of the shop. Mirio gave me ice cream-" Sakura grimaced at remembering the taste.
"Who the hell thought of combining mint and chocolate?" Sakura asked Nighteye with her brows furrowed as if greatly offended by it, which she is. Nighteye had his hands in front of him, the fingers interlocked.
"Anyways," She continued, "I looked for Kai and had Mirio to stay put for a moment. When I found Kai, I placed the tracker you had on me on him. Kai has keen senses as he noticed me taking a picture of him." At that, Sakura saw Nighteye's brows shot up from the information. She held out her hand to let her finish first.
"My arm exploded when Kai touched my arm but I healed it. Kai offered me to have a chat, I said no. Then I left and met up with Mirio." Sakura dug in her pockets, reaching for the phone. She then gave it to Nighteye, opening up the gallery to see the close-up picture of Kai.
"I'm impressed. Not only have you gotten new information, you managed to put the tracker on him and take a picture of him." Nighteye leaned forward on his desk.
"You are quite reckless, aren't you?" Sakura shrugged.
"The injury was nothing." She commented, "took me off guard but it could be healed." Nighteye sent the picture from the phone to his before returning it to her.
"I don't need th-"
"You do." Nighteye cut her off. "Besides, I have backups here." He said while opening a drawer filled with spare phones.
Sakura relented before remembering the deal. "About the deal-"
"Granted. Now, stay at the lobby while I check on the tracker." Nighteye dismissed. Now, eager to continue the investigation as there were new intel.
Sakura blurted out, "Rude." Before walking away from the new desk.
"I heard that." Nighteye said behind her. "Tomorrow, you'll have free reigns."
Sakura then closed the door behind her, mulling about what she would do for information she needs.

I added Mirio because who doesn't want a smiling boy with similar abilities with Obito and coloring like Naruto?
Also, my brain farted out a plot bunny but I'm torn between a twin oc of different bnha villain characters.
