"- would you wake up?"
"Hah..?" Wynion looked up blearly, opening his eyes to the sight of a stern blonde woman with glasses.
Does Ozpin have a fetish for blondes? I've only met people with-
"I would advise you get up, I haven't heard pleasant stories from students hit with Ms. Goodwitch's crop." Wynion looked to his right to see Ozpin.
Wait. Crop?
He felt a painful strike in his side, at the same time he heard a loud thwack. Wynion shot up, and scrambled out of his bedroll. The older woman- presumably Ms. Goodwitch- tapped a riding crop in her hand threateningly.
He has a fetish for blondes.
Looking around, he noticed that the hall he slept in was completely devoid of people. Jaune should have woken him up, if not out of decency, by accidentally trampling over him.
Wynion got up and stretched. "So, how late for the test am I?"
Ozpin smiled, "Late enough that you should probably choose between breakfast and a shower, but early enough that you won't be late by the end of our chat."
The boy frowned, "Do I really need to take this test? Didn't you say something about me being your student, not Beacon's?"
"Whether or not you pass initiation, you will be my student. However, should you pass initiation, you also have the choice to become a hunter as well. This would also allow you to take the same classes as the students here, but you would receive the same work on top of being my student."
Wynion felt like Ozpin was emphasising something he should know, but that was the headmaster's default tone of voice. "I can retake the test at any time if I fail, right?"
"The same rights extended to anyone who fails initiation, are extended to you." Ms. Goodwitch confirmed.
"However, you will not be partnered up with an individual to go on a team. There would be too much work to handle for any person with the added stress of a team. A slight problem is that part of the test is centered around partnerships, so you will be given a different task from other students. You are charged with making sure all partnerships you come across pass initiation. Any questions?"
"I don't."
"Now, I would advise you to choose between eating and showering. As I said, most likely you will only have time for one-"
Wynion had skipped breakfast (he was used to it anyways), took a nice shower, and was retrieving Ladrones from his locker, having to rush to the locker room after hearing the announcement. He heard footsteps, and looked to his right to see the blonde girl from yesterday.
"Sup? Initiation is about to start, but we can talk while we walk." Before he could protest, the girl dragged him from his locker with a death grip on his wrist.
"So, you just missed my sister, she decided to help out this Jaune guy. Oh! We never introduced ourselves before you walked away, but the name's Yang Xiao Long." That gave Wynion a start, "What's your name, wolfy?"
"Uh, Wynion…" He really should have known. Ruby told him that Yang would be applying to Beacon. Though Ruby never mentioned another sister…"I… missed your sister?"
"Yep. Scythe wielder, like you. Doesn't like other people, like you. Has very little friends, probably like you." Yang said cheerfully as she dragged her captive outside. "I will introduce both of you after initiation."
I can see how Yang influenced her sister a lot.
"... What's her name?"
"Ruby Rose," What? "Remember it, because you will be nice to her at least when I introduce each other." WAIT- "If things don't work out, then you two won't ever have to meet each other again-"
"Isn't she two years young to be applying here?" A shocked and confused Wynion cut her off. Yang stopped, surprised.
"Huh, she's famous already?" Yang shook her head and let go of him. "Well, the launch pads are just ahead, see ya after I pass!"
Wynion lightly massaged his wrist, and took up a position on the jump pad closest to him, the end of the line. To his far right, he saw Yang, and a familiar girl with red streaked hair and a combat skirt. And that red scythe, Crescent Rose.
What the hell is she doing here?
So that was the reason Ozpin was talking about him passing initiation like that. And probably why he was insisting he help all students he came across. This was going to be a pain.
"For years you have trained to become warriors. And today, your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest." The silver-haired headmaster began.
"Now, I'm sure many of you have heard rumors about the assignment of teams. Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion." Ms. Goodwitch continued, "Each of you will be given teammates... Today."
"These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon. So it is in your best interest to be paired with someone with whom you can work well. That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years."
"WHAT!?" That was Ruby alright.
"After you've partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path, or you will die. You will be monitored and graded for the duration of your initiation. But our instructors will not intervene." Partners were formed after they landed, so all Wynion had to do was to get to Ruby before she landed, and avoid all other partners so his job wouldn't get complicated. "We will regard that item, as well as your standing, and grade you appropriately. Are there any questions?"
"Yeah. Um, sir-" Jaune's voice rose up.
"Good! Now take your positions." As soon as he finished his sentence, Wynion was launched. He twisted around to see familiar rose petals and a red blur. Any doubt of Ruby not actually being here was gone. Now, it was replaced by determination-
Which was promptly snuffed out by a screaming mass of white, black, and blonde, alongside his consciousness.
I won't be rehashing everything that happened throughout this. It's just that some things are too important to ignore, and it's nice when part of it is already written out. Like initiation. Seriously though, this won't be RWBY cannon in written form with an extra character, though the main events will still happen like in the show for the most part.
This wasn't an interesting chapter to write either, but wasn't boring. Also, Wynion won't be overpowered, at the very least in combat (leagues better than Jaune though). Yes, Ruby is gifted in combat, but she has only trained Wynion part time for roughly a year, and she isn't exactly the greatest teacher on Remnant. Not so much for his magical talent either, because while it will evolve, he won't be using it for a while. He has yet to unlock his semblance, which I have yet to figure out what it will be. Wynion has his own role to play.
Also, I'm planning on inserting some of the meetings Ozpin and Wynion have had over the summer (as they never really stopped meeting) at the end of each chapter from now on, exploring a bit of both of their characters. If you have any ideas for this, do tell.
Also also, I haven't used italics this much before. WOOOOOOOOO!
(dunno if it's something to celebrate, might as well anyways)
ALSO ALSO ALSO. This story at this very moment, is atop another story with the premise of the big, bad, wolf. I don't have any comment. The story (True Self) is decent enough so far. I just felt like it needed to be acknowledged.
I don't know, do I declare war on Dorky Sev? He seems like a nice dude, but it is two stories with similar inspirations atop each other directly.
But if I do that, I would have to declare war on the other stories that also use da big, bad, wolf. And if I did that, I would have to declare war on the fandom, because we all are drawing from the same source and if I did that, I would have to declare war on fan ficton .net...
No war then :(
