I think I figured out why I felt so unsatisfied with this story for the duration of the party, a bit before, and such. It wasn't the writing style I love to use.
Maybe I'll rework those chapters to be more me, who knows?
"It wasn't any of your business."
Blake groaned, trying not to get annoyed at the silver-headed faunus.
Was it any of her business?
Maybe not.
Did that mean she should have left him to suffer like he asked?
Absolutely not.
Because no one deserves to suffer like that. No one. Not him, not anyone else.
"Look, I don't really care about what you do-
How can you be willing to accept this?
"-but leave me out of it. Let me live-"
How could you be willing to be like this?
"-and suffer in peace-"
And how do you not see that it's not just about you! Even ignoring your duties as a member of the faunus race, don't you see how your suffering worries everyone!?"
"Leave me alone, Blake."
It was a stretch of arguments that overlapped the days.
"Good work for today. Your new homework is the smallest stack on my desk."
He continued working on the legal documents without pause.
"Ozpin."
"Hmm…?"
"This isn't enough."
"I'm sorry?" The headmaster looked up, seeking clarification.
The boy gazed at him with a look of disdain, "I'm not improving enough. Magical exercises are all fine, but I'm too behind on everything else."
"I've done everything in my power to teach you what I can so far, but sadly I don't have the time to teach you anything outside-"
"And that's fine," Wynion cut him off, "I just want to learn magic beyond those control exercises."
The headmaster sighed, "We have already attempted that, yet you could barely do the simplest of spells. Your magic is rather unique compared to any I have seen or practiced before. If you really wish to take it to the next step, you must discover how your power works for yourself."
The boy stared at him.
Frustration.
A look Ozpin was unfortunately familiar with.
He ground his teeth, "Then what's so good about my magic?"
"It may not be powerful in most cases, but in certain situations…"
"I could care less. How does it help me?"
Ozpin sighed as he engaged what would soon become a familiar argument between the two.
That's how he would remember those days in his life.
"Who was it that you got your fake papers from?"
"They aren't fake."
"WYNION! Tell me so we can arrest the bad guys!"
"Ruby," Her bestie sighed, "For the last time, they are authentic."
"And I'm supposed to believe that you actually attended Signal Academy, even though there is not one picture of you there?" Ruby pointed her finger up in his face accusingly, "That's suspicious Wynnie!"
"It's- not like it matters much, right?" Wynnie glanced off to the side, refusing to meet her eyes.
The look of the guilty.
"Wynion," He flinched at her disapproving tone, "We talked about this, remember?"
"... Yeah."
"If doing things like this becomes a habit…" Ruby barely managed in succeeding not to tear up, "Th-t-then…"
Wynion finally met her gaze, "I become the big bad…"
He was so miserable when he spoke.
She made him miserable.
And it was her duty to fix that.
She embraced him with a tight hug, like she always did. Her face felt a bit warm as she did so- Yang's words were getting to her (ugh- stupid Yang).
They stayed like that for a few seconds, before she released him.
"So tell me who it was that made you those fake papers."
"I'm sorry, but I can't."
Her face darkened, and she prepared a different hug. Her eyes trained on his wolf ears.
"...Ruby?"
She took a step forward menacingly.
"R-Ruby… We can talk about this. We're in public… C-class is gonna start soon…"
The boy made his excuses and pleas as he started his retreat from his doom.
"... S-seriously. K-kid!-"
…
Wynion realized his second mistake as her lips turned upward in sadistic glee, "Kid, huh? You dare call me kid, huh?"
His screams would be echoed across the campus.
Until one day, there was an argument without him.
"She's been having this recurring dream for nearly a month now." Wynion frowned in disappointment; he wanted to know how an Ursa skin rug felt like. Soft? Bristly? Make's your hands rot and fall off?
He gazed off out of the window, groaning as the experiences of the last week flew unbidden into his mind. After the week before, no one made an attempt on Wynion because of his traits. Maybe Blake's attack warded them off, maybe the headmaster was doing something. Who knew? It didn't mean that Ruby and the teams didn't bother him about it incessantly.
"...But guys, I'm fine," Jaune's voice dragged him back into reality, "Seriously, look."
The silver headed boy succeeded in stifling his laugh at the pathetic attempt. It was close though.
"Jaune, Cardin has been picking on you since the first week of school."
The blonde blinked, "Who? Cardin Winchester? Ah, he just likes to mess around you know? Practical jokes."
Ruby frowned, "He's a bully."
"Oh please, name one time he's 'bullied' me?"
The whole table went silent, staring at Jaune in a sort of disbelief. If this was an attempt to save dignity, how much did Jaune think he even had?
"When he pushed you into a locker and launched it?" Ruby suggested.
…
Nervous laughter from the blonde.
It was almost painful to hear it.
"Well, I didn't land far from the school…"
"Jaune, you know…" Wynion didn't pay attention, he just leaned back, sighed and stared off into space. He was really glad that Ruby allowed him to sit next to her now-
"OW! That hurts!" The boy frowned and looked over in the direction it came from. The table observed Cardin Winchester pulling on the ears of a rabbit faunus, along with his team laughing.
"Atrocious," Pyrrha shook her head in disgust as the faunus fled, "I can't stand people like him."
The ribbon bit- Blake narrowed her eyes at the scene, "And he's not the only person like that either."
"I do wish you would stop pointing things like that out either." Wynion sighed.
…
"Huh?" He looked around him, everyone at the table was staring at him the same way they were staring at Jaune.
Stop it already with the pitiful looks.
"Hey Wynion?"
"Hm?" He looked over to Ruby's sister, and signaled her to go on.
"Is… was it hard to be a faunus growing up?"
…
Ruby laughed, "Wynnie doesn't have to answer any questions he doesn't want to be asked…" She gave him a pat on the back- wait did Jaune already leave? Weird.
"It was… unpleasant. But I got used to it. Taught me some valuable life lessons too."
"Any in particular?"
"... Never shoplift, it's punishing enough to walk in a store."
"WHAT!?" Ruby grabbed his hoodie and violently started shaking him, "WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!?"
"I-I-I I NEV-never shoplift from stores! I JUST BUY THINGS WITH STOLEN MONEY AND STOP SHAKING ME PLEASE I'M SORRY JUST STOP!"
Weiss looked over at him, "I'm having a hard time believing that you don't shoplift-"
"IT'S TRUE I SWEAR I NEVER SHOPLIFT PLEASESTOPSHAKINGMEI'MDIZZY!"
The devil girl finally released him with a disbelieving scowl, and the dizzy faunus lay his head down on the table.
That day would mark the end of those days that stretched on.
Again, disclaimer: Don't go looking at me or complaining I'm pushing a political message at ya, cause I ain't. All of this is from the character's point of view, not mine. It's all for character developement.
Oh god, I am so excited for what I have planned coming up in the following chapter. Oh man, I am PUMPED! For once, I'll actually use the element of surprise, but I have hinted a bit at this before, just not in this particular fic, but in the notes/extra stories thing which I should really use since I really need it.
This fic is also unfortunately going to become rated M from it because while it is just implied violence, there is A LOT of implied graphic violence, and unfortunately I can't figure a way around it.
HAHA! I'm giddy, it's just like how it was when I first started writing this! Oh, I am going to enjoy this so much. Wynion's gonna have such a great feast!
Yes, I am a cunt.
Hey, at least we'll have even more cursing in the authors notes when I get there, if it wasn't already enough.
I HAVEN'T BEEN THIS EXCITED SINCE SOMETHING SOMETHING YEAH! I'M TELLING YA TO LOOK OUT FOR THE NEXT CHAPTER!
