Episode 246: Have a Chatot

A couple of days have passed since Sora had won his fifth Hoenn Gym Badge and now he only needed three more to enter the Hoenn region's Pokémon League. Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, and Lisia started to head down to Littleroot Town to visit Professor Birch in his lab.

Lisia had never met Professor Birch before but she had only heard about him from her mother. As they arrived in Littleroot Town, they get greeted by a a vrooming jeep.

"Whoa!" Sora yelped. The driver, revealed to be Professor Birch, stepped out of the jeep.

"Sorry about that. I didn't see you there," Professor Birch apologized. He instantly recognized two of the familiar faces. "Sora and Kairi! What an unexpected surprise!"

"Heya professor!" Sora greeted.

"It's been a while," Kairi said.

"I'm sure it has," Professor Birch said, smiling. "You sure look like you've gained some experience in the Hoenn region since the last time I saw you."

"We have," Sora said. "So far, I won five Gym Badges and Kairi had gotten three Contest Ribbons."

"Also, we caught some more Pokémon since coming here," Kairi added.

"Eevee," Angel said. Professor Birch spotted the Female Eevee and he smiled.

"I don't doubt it," Professor Birch said. He spotted Lisia with the couple. "And who might this be?"

"My name is Lisia. My uncle has told me quite about you," Lisia said.

"Your uncle, you say?" Professor Birch asked.

"Yes. My uncle is Wallace, the former Sootopolis City Gym Leader," Lisia said.

"Oh, so you're Wallace's niece. I only know you through him. I guess the rumors about him resigning as Gym Leader was true after all," Professor Birch said.

"Anyway, what was the big hurry?" Sora asked.

"Right! I was heading down to the harbor and meet Professor Oak there," Professor Birch said.

"Professor Oak?! He's coming?" Sora asked.

"Yes. I'm sure that he'll be quite thrilled to see you again," Professor Birch said. "And some guests he's bringing along."

"Guests?" Sora asked. Professor Birch winced when he realized he should already be there.

"Oh! I should already been there by now! I'll meet you in my lab! And make yourselves at home!" Professor Birch said, driving off.

"Professor Oak is actually coming," Sora said.

"I know, right?" Kairi asked. "But I wonder who's coming with him?"

"I think it might be someone we know," Sora said.

"Might be," Kairi said.

"You seem to know Professor Oak pretty well," Lisia said.

"Sora knew him for as long as he can remember," Kairi said.

"Really? I don't believe it," Lisia said.

"It's true. Professor Oak treated Sora's mom like she was his own daughter. He was even there for her when his dad died," Kairi said. Lisia was shocked to hear Sora had come from a broken family. She knew the necklace Sora wore had to belong to him.

"It must be hard for Sora and his mom," Lisia said.

"It was, but Sora has always been cheerful," Kairi said. Lisia laughed.

Once they made it to the lab, not far behind, Brendan, May, and Max have arrived right behind them.

"Brendan! Good to see you," Sora said.

"You too, Sora," Brendan said.

"Got your Gym Badge yet?" Sora asked.

"I did," Brendan said, showing him his latest Gym Badge. "May and Max told me about your Gym Battle with Norman and told me how you held on."

"How well did you do?" Sora asked.

"I almost lost, gotta admit, but I made it on top," Brendan said. He saw Lisia with the couple. "You're Lisia, aren't you? As in Wallace's niece!"

"You must be Brendan. I heard so much about you from, May," Lisia said. May started to blush when Max started to adjust his glasses.

"Speaking of which, I wasn't expecting to see you again so soon," Kairi said.

"Well, we thought we pay a visit to Professor Birch," May said.

"Yeah, where's my dad?" Brendan asked.

"You just missed him, because he went to meet with Professor Oak at the harbor," Sora said. Max's eyes lit up.

"You're kidding! You mean Professor Oak is coming here?!" Max exclaimed.

"Yeah. Also, he said he's bringing some guests too," Sora said. Just then, someone grabs Sora from behind and laughs.

"Hiya Sora!" Ventus greeted.

"Ven! You mean you're one of the guests?" Sora asked.

"That's right!" Ventus said.

"Ven! Don't run ahead of us!" Aqua called out when she, Terra, and Professor Oak all had arrived.

"Aqua!" Kairi greeted.

"Terra! Professor!" Sora also greeted.

"Sora and Kairi! Good to see you again! And it's a pleasure to finally meet you Brendan, May, and Max," Professor Oak said.

"Professor Oak! It's really you!" Max exclaimed.

"You I was expecting, professor, but Ven, Terra, and Aqua, not so much," Sora said.

"Well, your cousin insisted that he accompanied me and he was granted permission as long as Terra and Aqua were with him. Also, we waited for a long time before we got tired of waiting and headed up here ahead of schedule," Professor Oak said. He notices Lisia with them.

"A new friend, I presume?" Professor Oak asked.

"It's nice to meet you, Professor. My name is Lisia," she introduced herself. Aqua turned to her in shock.

"Lisia? As Lisia, the Pokémon Contest Idol of Hoenn?" Aqua asked.

"That's me," Lisia said.

"I thought you looked familiar because I saw you on the covers of magazines," Aqua said.

"Brendan, May, Max, and Lisia, meet Terra and Aqua. And this kid here is my cousin Ventus," Sora said. "Terra, Aqua, Ven, these are Brendan, May, her brother Max, and Lisia; Aqua already knows that." Aqua puffs up her cheeks.

"For a moment I thought he was Sora's little brother," May said.

"I would think the same thing, May. I mean they do look alike," Brendan said.

"But, Ven seems to be much cuter than Max," May said. Luckily, Max didn't hear her say it because he was still astounded to meet Professor Oak for the first time.

Inside the lab, Professor Birch's assistant was looking after the three starter Pokémon of Hoenn and Ven was excited to see them for the first time.

"Are these three the Hoenn starters?" Ventus asked.

"They sure are. Treecko is a Grass Type. Torchic is a Fire Type, and Mudkip is a Water Type," Sora said.

"They're so cool!" Ven said.

"Anyway, why are you here?" Brendan asked.

"Well, Professor Birch wanted to see these three, but I just couldn't refuse him," Professor Birch said, taking out three Pokéballs and letting out a Bulbasaur, a Charmander, and a Squirtle. Max shared Ven's excitement in meeting the Kanto starters.

"Wow, a Bulbasaur, a Charmander, and a Squirtle!" Max said with glee. The Squirtle started to get scared and ran towards May. She turned and picked up the Squirtle in her arms. The Squirtle started to cry.

"There, there, did he scare you?" May asked.

"Normally, it'll be you who do the scaring," Max said. May turned to her brother.

"What was that, little brother?" May asked, making Max pretend that he's scared. Ventus laughed as Aqua rolled her eyes.

"If I ever have children, I'm going to use them for an example. That way, they won't argue constantly," Aqua said in her thoughts.

Brendan, May, Max, and Lisia got to know Sora's cousin and his friends.

"Wait a minute! Your dad owns a restaurant by the beach?" May asked, intrigued.

"Uh-huh. My dad owns a place called Danny's Bay of Burgers. It's a huge success," Ventus said.

"Sounds like it's a cool place," Brendan said.

"It is," Sora spoke up. "My mom and I always ate there whenever we visited Ven and his family."

"I bet it was cool to hang out with Terra and Aqua when you came down," Max said.

"I didn't know Terra and Aqua until my journey through Kanto. But, I remember the Christmas before that when Ven would always talk about them," Sora said, ruffling his cousin's hair.

"Ven did the same thing with Sora. We were happy that we finally met him," Terra said.

"Terra and I weren't expecting to meet Kairi and his other friends when they dropped by," Aqua added.

Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, and Aqua filled Brendan, May, Max, and Lisia about their visit to Porta Vista and how he helped out his relatives after Stanley Silas had his hired help vandalized the restaurant by doing an Alolan-style charity dinner. It was a huge success, with an unexpected help from Looker who had been keeping an eye on Silas and made his move into arresting him and destroying Team Rocket's Gyarados submarine. The Hoenn trainers found it hard to believe how someone like Silas would do that to Sora's uncle, but they knew it worked out for the best.

"That Silas guy must have been such a creep," May said.

"Trust me, May, he would be someone who you would love to hate," Terra said. "Especially with all the things he did to everyone else there."

"At least he got his comeuppance at the end," Brendan said.

"The last thing we heard from Silas is that he got thrown in prison and they threw away the key," Terra said.

"And if you think just because he was rich, he would get out with ease, right? Wrong! His reputation and his businesses went down and all the small businesses he bought went back to the way they were before he came along," Sora said.

"And he very well deserved it more than anyone; with the exception of Team Rocket," Kairi said. "Anyway, enough about that jerk, have Lillie been by there by any chance?"

"Funny you should ask, Kairi. Lillie had come by just a few weeks ago. She had two others with her. Elio and Selene I believe their names were," Aqua said.

"Lillie was happy about seeing us again. She introduced them to Ven's parents and you wouldn't believe the welcome Ven's mom gave them," Terra said.

"Actually, I think I would," Sora said, remembering his younger days when Cattleya would spoil him whenever he saw them. Kairi only giggled when she remembered telling her boyfriend's aunt her feelings for Sora.

"She told us about how you won your Gym Badge from the Gym Leader in Rustboro City. Have you won any more?" Ventus asked.

"I won four more after that," Sora told his cousin, showing him the Gym Badges. He points to the Balance Badge. "This one I won just recently."

"So cool!" Ventus said.

"Also, Lillie told us that Kairi is competing in Pokémon Contests, isn't that right?" Aqua asked.

"I am. So far, I won three ribbons," Kairi said, showing them the ribbons she won.

"Gotta hand it to you two, you're well on your way," Terra said.

"Sora just has to win three more badges and Kairi has to win two more ribbons," Lisia said.

Just as they kept talking, Professor Birch had finally arrived back to his lab to meet with Professor Oak.

"Professor Oak. Sorry to keep you waiting. I just caught up in my research and lost track of time," Professor Birch said.

"It happens. We all get caught up in our work from time to time. Sometimes I get so caught up in my Pokémon poetry," Professor Oak said. Lisia blinked twice.

"He knows Pokémon poetry?" Lisia asked.

"Pokémon poetry has been his thing for as long as I've known him. He seems to close with a poem or two," Sora said. Professor Oak had shared some poems and granted Max an autograph for his photos. Sora laughed since he didn't find those poses remotely surprising. Ventus was stoked when he saw Combusken, Aron, Hariyama, Anorith, and Grovyle. Sora's Hariyama took a liking to Ventus right away and placed him on his shoulder. The little Squirtle had taken a shine to May and Professor Oak had decided to let her keep it as her own Pokémon. Brendan had become interested in Charmander and he was given the Kanto Fire Starter.

Later, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, and Lisia said their goodbyes to the professors and their friends. Ventus waved goodbye to his cousin and their other friends.

As they kept going, Sora took out his Pokédex and exchanged Hariyama, Aron, and Anorith for Marshtomp, Sableye and Taillow. Kairi decided to exchange Plusle, Minun, Milotic, and Mawile for Skitty, Lileep, Spinda, and Swablu.

Just when they were going through the woods, they're approached by two men wearing shirts and pants in polar opposite of what they were wearing. One was wearing a red shirt and blue pants while the other was wearing a blue shirt with red pants.

"We found you! Sora Ketchum and his girlfriend!" The man with the red shirt said.

"The Pokémon League Champion of Kanto and Johto and the Pokémon Coordinator who defeated Drew in the Slateport Pokémon Contest. There's no way we can forget them," the man wearing blue said.

"I'm going to guess you came here to challenge us into a battle, right?" Sora asked.

"We are!" The man wearing blue said.

"We have been waiting for you to show yourselves to us and now we can battle!" The man wearing red said, taking out a Dive Ball. The mean wearing blue did the same thing. They both threw their Dive Balls.

"Clamperl! Go!" Both men shouted. The Dive Balls opens to reveal two blue clam-like Pokémon. They open to have a pearl-like face with light blue body composed of six spherical extensions surrounding their heads. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned the Pokémon.

Clamperl, the Bivalve Pokémon

Type: Water

Clamperl's sturdy shell is not only good for protection—it is also used for clamping and catching prey. A fully grown Clamperl's shell will be scored with nicks and scratches all over.

Sora puts his Pokédex away.

"Oh, look how cute they are," Kairi said.

"Thank you," the man wearing red said.

"But you won't think they're cute after we win," the man wearing blue said.

"Well, cute or not, we're gonna win it! And since they're Water Types, I know which one to use!" Sora said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Grovyle!" Grovyle comes out of his Pokéball and puts his twig in his mouth. Kairi took out a Pokéball.

"Good thinking, Sora! And I'm going with Budew!" Kairi called out as she threw her Pokéball and Budew had entered the fray next to Grovyle.

"A Budew and a Grovyle," the man wearing blue said.

"We're not afraid of Grass Types," the man wearing red said.

"Then prove it! Grovyle! Bullet Seed!" Sora ordered.

"Budew! You use Bullet Seed too!" Kairi ordered.

Grovyle and Budew fired Bullet Seed right at the clam-like Pokémon, but their trainers weren't worried.

"Iron Defense!" Both men ordered. Clamperl shuts their mouths and their attacks bounces off. "Now use Ice Beam!" The Clamperl fires their Ice Beam attacks and they strike both Grovyle and Budew before Sora and Kairi could tell them to dodge. Grovyle and Budew started to feel cold from their Ice Beam.

"Don't let it get you down, Grovyle! Try again! Fury Cutter!" Sora ordered. Grovyle comes at one of the Clamperl.

"Budew! Use Energy Ball!" Kairi ordered. Budew fires Energy Ball at the other one.

"Iron Defense!" Both men ordered. Both Clamperl held up their defenses and their attacks bounces off once more. "Ice Beam!" The Clamperl fires Ice Beam once again.

"Dodge with Quick Attack!" Sora called out.

"You dodge too, Budew!" Kairi called out. Grovyle manages to dodge with ease, but Budew wasn't so lucky since she got hit by Ice Beam. "Budew!" The bud Pokémon had been hit pretty bad by the Clamperl's Ice Beam due to her weakness to ice.

"That's the way!" The man wearing blue said.

Budew started to get back up and lets out a loud cry as she began to evolve. Sora, Kairi, Lisia, and the Pokémon couple were stunned by the suddenly evolution. Budew had evolved right into a Roselia. Kairi's newly evolved Roselia had a longer leaf dress than Drew's Roselia.

"Roselia," the newly evolved Roselia said in a tone almost sounding like she was singing.

"Budew evolved into a Roselia," Kairi said.

"I knew Budew was gonna evolve eventually!" Sora said.

"So did I, Sora. How about we finish this," Kairi said.

"Right," Sora nodded.

"Roselia! Use Petal Blizzard!" Kairi ordered. Roselia began to fire flower petals all over. As the name suggested, it was a blizzard of petals as the Clamperl had trouble seeing where their opponents were.

"What is going on?" The man wearing red asked.

"They can't see their opponents and neither can we," the man wearing blue said. Sora and Kairi knew they had to take advantage of the confusion while they can.

"Grovyle! Leaf Blade!" Sora ordered.

"Roselia! Magical Leaf!" Kairi ordered. Roselia fired Magical Leaf at the opponents as Grovyle uses Leaf Blade on one of them. The Clamperl took heavy damage because of their weakness to Grass Type attacks and hit the ground hard.

"Clamperl! Try Ice Beam! Freeze the flower petals!" The man wearing red ordered.

"You too!" The man wearing blue also ordered. Both Clamperl fired Ice Beam and froze the flower petals, but the Grass Types had their opponents where they want them.

"Bullet Seed!" Sora and Kairi ordered. The Grass Types fired Bullet Seed and both Clamperl took the barrage with no time to defend themselves.

"Now use Leaf Blade!" Sora ordered.

"Roselia! Use Poison Sting!" Kairi ordered. Grovyle landed a Leaf Blade on one of them while Roselia fired Poison Sting on the other one and the couple earned a double knockout.

The two men were impressed by how they used Roselia's Petal Blizzard to their advantage and for Kairi's Budew to evolve during the match.

"Good work, you two," the man in red said.

"You both earned your stripes, that's for sure," the man in blue added.

"Well, you two gave it everything you've got," Sora said.

"And your Clamperl are lucky to have such loving trainers like you," Kairi said.

They were moved by the compliments the couple had shared with them.

A few days later, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, and Lisia continued on their way towards Fortree City.

"So, Lisia, what do you know about the Gym Leader over in Fortree City?" Sora asked.

"Well, I heard the Gym Leader there goes by Winona, and she specializes with Flying Type Pokémon. She's quite a formidable opponent," Lisia said.

"If she uses Flying Types, then Pikachu, Charjabug and Electrike are your best bets," Kairi said.

"Eevee," Angel said.

"Yeah, but there's also Aron and Anorith since they're Rock Types," Sora said.

"Pika," Pikachu said.

"As soon as we make a stop, I can get started on my training," Sora said.

"As soon as we make a stop, I can get started on my training," a new parrot-like voice repeated. Sora, Kairi, and Lisia all look around.

"Who said that?" Sora asked.

"Who said that? Who said that?" The voice repeated.

"Pikachu?" Pikachu asked.

"Pikachu, Pikachu," the voice repeated. They all looked around and Lisia found it was a Chatot.

"Over there!" Lisia said.

"Over there, over there!" Chatot repeated.

"Is that a Pokémon?" Sora asked.

"Is that a Pokémon? Is that a Pokémon?" Chatot repeated.

"It is. It's a Chatot," Lisia said.

"It's a Chatot. It's a Chatot," Chatot said. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned the parrot-like Pokémon.

Chatot, the Music Note Pokémon

Type: Normal/Flying

Chatot has the ability to learn speak in human speech. It repeats any word or phrase it happens to hear from people, Pokémon, and other creatures. Chatot uses this ability to confuse predators by making them think that it's one of them.

"Making them think that it's one of them. Making them think that it's one of them," Chatot repeated.

"Confusing or annoying predators?" Sora asked sarcastically.

"Don't say mean things about him, Sora. Chatot is cute," Kairi said.

"Chatot is cute. Chatot is cute," Chatot repeated.

"Say what you want about Chatot. I still think he's annoying," Sora said.

"You're an apple! You're an apple!" Chatot taunted. Sora's cheeks puffed up. Kairi and Lisia laughed.

"Sora has the cutest face when his cheeks puffs up," Lisia cooed.

"It makes him look like a Skwovet," Kairi also cooed.

"Look like a Skwovet. Look like a Skwovet," Chatot repeated.

"Eevee," Angel said.

"Eevee, Eevee," Chatot repeated.

Sora was getting annoyed by Chatot's repeating everything the parrot-like Pokémon hears and other things.

"A spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down, the medicine go down. Hakuna Matata. Be our guest, be our guest, be our guest. Can you paint with the colors of the wind? Under the sea. Can't wait to be king. Never had a friend like me," Chatot chattered out of random. Sora shurgged his shoulders.

"Ooookay," Sora said. He turned to Lisia. "You don't think maybe this could be a wild Chatot, right?"

"I don't think so, Sora. Chatot don't normally inhabit the Hoenn region. I think maybe he might belong to someone," Lisia said.

"Belong to someone. Belong to someone. Belong to someone," Chatot repeated.

"Pika," Pikachu said.

"Pika. Pika," Chatot repeated.

A boy wearing a baseball cap came running down towards the Chatot.

"Hey, can you help me get that Chatot?!" The boy called out.

"Help me get that Chatot! Help me get that Chatot!" Chatot said, taking flight. "Help me get that Chatot!"

"Come back here!" The boy called out.

"Come back here! Come back here!" Chatot repeated. Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, and Lisia chased after Chatot with the boy who they assumed to be Chatot's trainer. Chatot landed on a stomp to catch his breath only for Sora to catch him before he could fly off again.

"Gotcha! Think you're smart, do ya, chatterbox?" Sora asked.

"You're an apple!" Chatot squawked.

"Thanks a lot!" The boy called out. "I hope my Chatot hasn't been causing you any trouble."

"Not at all," Sora said, handing Chatot back to the boy.

"Confusing or annoying predators? I still think he's annoying," Chatot repeated Sora's words.

"You didn't have to tell it like it is!" Sora said.

"You're an apple!" Chatot squawked. Sora groaned feeling irritated.

"That's what I mean. My Chatot has a habit of calling people an apple whenever they say he's annoying. My fault for getting him hooked on the Annoying Orange," the boy apologized.

"Nananananana," Chatot said.

"Also he's addicted to Disney movies. Anyway, my name is Arthur. And you already met Chatot," Arthur introduced.

"I'm Sora and this is my girlfriend Kairi," Sora introduced.

"Pikachu," Pikachu said.

"And this is my Eevee Angel," Kairi introduced.

"Eevee," Angel said.

"And I'm Lisia," she finished.

"Sora, Kairi, and Lisia? Wait a minute! As in Sora Ketchum, the Pokémon League Champion of Kanto and Johto? Also Kairi as in the Pokémon Coordinator who competed in the Poké Madien Tournament? And Lisia, the Pokémon Contest Idol and niece of the former Sootopolis City Gym Leader?" Simon asked.

"That's us," Lisia confirmed. Arthur gasped in amazement.

"I can't belive it! It's really you! I never expected to run into a trio of celebrities!" Arthur said.

"And we never expected to be recognized," Sora said.

"It's just, meeting you is an extreme pleasure!" Arthur said.

"Extreme pleasure! Extreme pleasure!" Chatot repeated.

"What brings you three in my neck of the woods?" Arthur asked.

"Well, we were on our way to Fortree City for a Gym battle," Sora said.

"I thought you were planning to enter the Hoenn region's Pokémon League. I heard some talk that you defeated Norman of the Petalburg City Gym and won a badge. Sounds like it's true," Arthur said. Sora figured someone had to hear it from Brendan since he was the most likely. "Anyway, sorry for sounding like a screaming fan, but I was practicing my act for the talent show with my Chatot when he flew off just to make mischief again."

"You mean, Chatot has done this before?" Kairi asked.

"More times than I can count. Chatot has been annoying everyone he happens to meet. The townspeople eventually got used to his antics, but it's the travelers that has a hard time with him," Arthur said.

"So, what act have you been working on?" Sora asked.

"Well, if you have to know, we're working on a comedy routine. How about you make yourselves comfortable and I'll show you," Arthur said. Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, and Lisia sat down as Arthur and Chatot got into position. Arthur clears his voice as he got started. "Good evening, ladies and gentlemen! I hope you had a nice day."

"I know I did," Chatot said. "Today I had breakfast, then I took a shower."

"Well, I wasn't talking to you," Arthur said.

"You should consider yourself lucky that I talk to you at all," Chatot said.

"And what's that supposed to mean?" Arthur asked.

"Talking to you is a sure fire cure for insomnia. I'm getting sleepy just hearing your voice. Either you've been taking speech lessons from a Jigglypuff or you're just plain boring," Chatot said, doing a laugh. Sora and the girls chuckled a bit.

"Hey now, I'm not so boring. I'll happen to tell you that I am a fun person to be around," Arthur said.

"I would say that you're as fun as a Bibarel. Their idea of fun is working," Chatot said. "That's you in a nutshell."

"Me in a nutshell, huh?" Arthur asked.

"If I hang out with you any longer, I'll go nuts. Oops! My mistake! It's already too late!" Chatot said, making their small audience laugh.

"And since when did we start talking about nuts?" Arthur asked.

"And you're asking me? Coo-coo," Chatot said, making the small audience laugh.

"I'm coo-coo? You're a cuckoo yourself," Arthur said. Chatot gasped.

"I was only having fun and you had to play that card," Chatot said, pretending to be offended.

"I didn't mean it that way. I mean you're one of the good ones," Arthur said.

"I was only horsing around and you had to hurt my feelings," Chatot said, turning to their audience, winking before pretending to cry. "Boo-hoo!" Chatot covered his face with his right wing, pretending to cry some more.

"Oh, don't be like that. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I didn't realize how fragile your feelings were," Arthur said.

"Too late! It's time for me to fly solo. Take my act elsewhere," Chatot said.

"Is there anything I can do to convince you to stay?" Arthur asked.

"No. But, there's something I wanna share with you before I go," Chatot said.

"What is it?" Arthur said. Chatot whispered into his ear.

"I can't believe you fell for THAT!" Chatot whispered until the last word. Chatot laughs at Arthur's dismay. Their audience laughed.

"That wasn't funny," Arthur said.

"How come they're laughing?" Chatot asked, gesturing to the audience. Artbur didn't answer sighed in defeat. "What's the matter? Delcatty got your tongue?" Arthur and Chatot bowed as their audience applauded.

"Thank you! Thank you! We'll be here all week!" Arthur announced.

"You've been warned, people!" Chatot added. Sora, Kairi, and Lisia applauded some more to the private show they had been given.

"What did you think?" Arthur asked.

"That was great! You and Chatot are great!" Sora said.

"You're a shoe-in for the talent show, that's for sure," Lisia said.

"That's for sure. That's for sure," Chatot repeated.

"That was only one of the routines we did together. It was a riot at last year's talent show. But that only got me second place; I wasn't upset since I had fun," Arthur said.

"Fun, fun, fun!" Chatot repeated.

Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, and Lisia were invited to attend the talent show as they had watched the other acts. Like for example, seeing Mr. Mime do some tap dancing. There was also Loudred juggling some Voltorb without dropping a single one. Unfortunately, it was as simple as it seems since Loudred drop one of them and earned a shock. And there was an act of a Heracross playing a xylophone. The song Heracross was playing Endearing Young Charms. Heracross's rhythm was way off. And finally there was Chatot and Arthur. As Arthur and Chatot did their act, it was indeed a riot among the audience, especially one judge. Once the talent acts had been concluded, one of the jusges had entered the stage.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we have reviewed each of the acts and we have come to a conclusion. We will make our final decisions. This first reward goes to Simon and his Mr. Mime for the best musical performance," the judge said, handing him a medal shaped like a music note. "This reward goes to Buddy and his Abra for the best magic act." The judge hands him a reward shaped like a magician's hat. "And finally, our final reward goes to..." the audience were anxious to hear who had won the last reward. Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, and Lisia were also as anxious. Arthur and the other performers were all crossing their fingers. "Arthur and his Chatot for the best comedy performance!" Arthur was astounded as his new friends were all happy for him. Artur was given a medal shaped as a laughing face.

One the very next morning, Arthur stood outsde of town as Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, and Lisia were preparing to leave.

"You deserved to win for that act you pulled yesterday," Kairi said.

"Thank you, Kairi. I gave it everything I had and I couldn't be happier to have friends as supporting as you," Arthur said.

"Congratulations on your win, Arthur," Sora said. "Now, what do you plan to do?" Arthur thought for a moment.

"I was thinking of going on the road with Chatot. Do comedy routines along with Chatot here," Arthur said.

"Along with Chatot here. Along with CHatot here," Chatot repeated.

"Well, we should be going," Sora said.

"Take care," Kairi said.

"Thanks! And you too! Good luck in your Gym battle, Sora! And good luck in your Contests, Kairi!" arthur said, waving goodbye to his new friends.

"You're an apple!" Chatot called to to Sora.

And they continue on their way to Fortree City for Sora's next Gym battle. What other challenges awaits them along the way? More to come in the next chapter.
