Episode 247: Sora vs Wally
Almost a day had passed since meeting Arthur and his Chatot, so Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, and Lisia decided to make a stop at a nearby lake. Sora and Kairi had to get some practice down as Lisia is busy grooming Ali.
"You like that, don't you, Ali?" Lisia asked. Ali cooed in response.
As the couple were training, a pair of eyes was watching them from the water. The eyes were eyeing the necklace around Sora's neck.
"That's great, guys!" Sora said. Marshtomp fired Water Gun as Grovyle fires Bullet Seed as Combusken practice using Fire Punch followed by Double Kick. Taillow practices with Wing Attack and Sableye practices Shadow Claw. He turned to his girlfriend and saw how well she was doing. Kairi had thought of having Skitty learn how to use Ice Beam and Shock Wave. She also thought of having Spinda learn how to use Water Pulse and Psychic. Her two Normal Types practiced using their new moves with much success. "Wow, they're getting good with learning something new."
"Thanks Sora. Skitty and Spinda are improving. Although Spinda needs to work on her footing a little," Kairi said. "Then again, Spinda's little dizzy dance is very cute." Sora looked over to Pikachu and Angel, sitting by the lake.
"Not as cute as that over there," Sora pointed out. Kairi was about when she saw the Pokémon couple sitting by the lake nuzzling and kissing each other. Grovyle, Combusken, Marshtomp, Taillow, Sableye, Roselia, Skitty, Spinda, Swablu, and Stufful looked on smiling.
"You're right, Sora, that is cute," Kairi said.
"It feels like yesterday since the two of us became a couple. I remember the morning after that night when we told Illima and the others," Sora said.
"So do I. And speaking of Illima and the others, I'm wondering how they're doing," Kairi said.
"Probably well since they're Gym Leaders now. Also, Lillie is probably in some other region by now doing some research with Elio and Selene," Sora said.
"You might be right, Sora. And they were still traveling with us, they would say that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree," Kairi said. Sora knew his girlfriend was right about Pikachu and Angel.
Lisia looked at the human and Pokémon couples and smiled warmly. She couldn't help but swoon at the romance in the air. Suddenly, a small gray, pig-like Pokémon. It has dark, circular eyes, a large gray nose, and small ears. It has no hind legs, but it has stubby arms and a spring-like tail. It appears to have a pink pearl on its head.
"Spoink!" The Pokémon said. The Pokémon has bounced its way to the lake for a drink of water. Sora, Kairi, and Lisia had noticed the Pokémon coming.
"Wow, it's a Spoink," Lisia said.
"Spoink, huh?" Sora said, taking out his Pokédex and scanned the Pokémon.
Spoink, the Bounce Pokémon
Type: Psychic
Spoink is known to bounce from place to another. But it must be careful not to bounce too rough since it doesn't want to lose the pink pearl it wears on top of its head. The pearl amplifies its psychic powers.
"Oh, what a cutie," Kairi cooed.
Spoink takes off its pearl and bends over to take a drink. Suddenly, a large blue Pokémon jumps out of the water, startling Pikachu, Angel, and Spoink. It greatly resembles a catfish with a yellow underbelly. It has a cavernous mouth with light blue lips that have short, thin whiskers growing from the lower lips. Long, yellow barbels grow from its cheeks, and there is a yellow marking on its forehead that resembles a W. The light blue dorsal fin has a pattern of three spots arranged in a triangle, while its horizontal tail fin lacks spots. Its pectoral fins and belly fins match its main body color. The Pokémon swallows Spoink's pearl and dives back into the lake. Spoink bounces angrily.
"That was the biggest Whiscash I have seen," Lisia said.
"Whischash?" Sora asked. He took out his Pokédex again and looked it up.

Whiscash is extremely territorial. Just one of these Pokémon will claim a large pond as its exclusive territory. If a foe approaches it, it thrashes about and triggers a massive earthquake.
"That Whiscash ate Spoink's pearl," Sora said, putting his Pokédex away. "And Spoink is not going to let that go." Spoink attacks Whiscash with a Psybeam, but Whiscash attacks Spoink with Mud Bomb. Sora, Kairi, and Lisia noticed how weak Psybeam was when it was fired. "Anyone notice how that Psybeam is coming out like a peashooter?"
"It must have something to do with his pearl. Maybe Spoink's power is fueled by Spoink's pearl," Kairi said.
"Then, let's get it back for him!" Sora stated. He turned to Marshtomp. "Okay Marshtomp! Go after that Whiscash and get the pearl back!" Sora said. Marshtomp dove into the lake and swam after the catfish Pokémon. Spoink looked right at Sora and didn't understand why he would go through the trouble for him.
Marshtomp swam through the lake as several Barboach and smaller Whiscash swam by. The target was the biggest Whiscash he could see. The large Whiscash turns around and sees the mud fish Pokémon gaining on it. Marshtomp launches himself towards Whiscash with Waterfall, but Whiscash bats him off with his tail. Marshtomp came too far to back now. Marshtomp fires Water Gun and Whishcash comes at Marshtomp and he leads it up to the surface.
Standing on a boat, an elderly man with long hair wearing a magenta kimono with a yellow Pokéball logo on the shoulder and a Whiscash on the back. He saw the brawl between Marshtomp and the large Whiscash.
"Nero. You've show your face," the old man said. Nero as the old fisherman called it fires Mud Bomb right at Marshtomp, but he dodges it by diving underwater. Marshtomp swam under Nero and launches himself with Waterfall and hits it right in the gut, making spit out Spoink's pearl. The pearl goes flying at lightning speed.
"The pearl!" Lisia said. The pearl flew over them as Spoink tries to bounce to catch it.
"I got it! I got it!" Sora said chasing after it. He jumps and catches the pearl before it hits the ground. "Got it." Spoink hops towards Sora as the girls, Pikachu, and Angel followed.
"Good catch, Sora," Kairi said.
"Thanks," Sora said, standing up. He bends down and hands the pearl back to the pig-like Pokémon. "Here you go, Spoink. Here's your pearl back." Back on the lake, Nero was angered at Marshtomp for making it lose the pearl it ate and Marshtomp taunts the large catfish-like Pokémon. Marshtomp swims back to the lake's shore as Nero chases after him. Nero jumped out of the water soon as Marshtomp reaches the shore. Sora knew the Whiscash wasn't going to let Marshtomp go without a fight. "Grovyle! Leaf Blade!" Grovyle swipes at Nero with Leaf Blade and sends it flying back to the middle of the lake. Nero makes an epic splash. "That was for taking Spoink's pearl."
"Pika, Pika," Pikachu added. Sora looked at Spoink, feeling happy to have his pearl back. Spoink hops over to Sora, thanking him for giving him his pearl back.
"You're welcome, Spoink. You just need to be more careful about your pearl," Sora said. Kairi had prepared a meal for everyone and even some for Spoink. The bounce Pokémon took a bite of the Pokémon food and loved how it tasted. Once the meal was done, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, and Lisia made their leave, but before Sora turned to Spoink. "Take care of that pearl of yours, Spoink." They took their leave, but Spoink wasn't going to let them go that easily, so he began to follow them.
A few days later, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, and Lisia started to make their way through a mountain path, and they made a stop to fill their canteens. Sora and Pikachu made a stop to a small lake when they notice a wild Meditite meditating on a rock.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"A Meditite," Sora said. He remembered being told the gender differences between males and females. The males has their hair a tad higer than females do. The Meditite levitated right before Sora and Pikachu. Meditite opens her eyes and forms a ball of energy and hurls it right at the duo. "That was Focus Blast she just used!" Sora thought of using Sableye since he knew Psychic and Fighting Type attacks won't have any effect on Sableye since he's a Dark and Ghost Type Pokémon. He took out his Pokéball and threw it. "Go for it, Sableye!" The Pokéball opens and Sableye grins wickedly upon entry. Meditite attempted to use Psychic on the darkness Pokémon, but it has zero effect on him. "Knew you would try that. Okay Sableye! Shadow Claw!" Sableye swipes at Meditite with his shadowy claw right at Meditite. "Now use Shadow Ball!" Sableye fires Shadow Ball and hits Meditite on the spot. "Now use Dark Pulse!" Sableye fires Dark Pulse and it struck Meditite. Sora figured Meditite was softened up enough, so he takes out a Pokéball and threw it right at Meditite. When it struck Meditite, she flows inside it and it wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around it to confirm the catch. Sora's Pokédex starts buzzing asking him if he wants to keep Meditite or send her to Professor Oak's lab. Sora chose to send Meditite to Professor Oak's lab. "There. Now to get that water."
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Eye," Sableye added.
Sora fills his canteen with the needed water and rejoins the girls.
They continue onwards, unaware of the Spoink following them. As they continued to make their way to Fortree City, they are approached by a teenaged boy wearing a pair of glasses and has blue hair. He has a huge interest in Kairi and he grinned, satisfied that he found someone like her. Sora and Lisia didn't like how he was looking at her.
"You're Kairi, aren't you?" The boy asked.
"Yes. And you would be?" Kairi asked.
"My name is Morton and I have been waiting to meet you for a long time, Kairi. So, I am challenging you into a battle," Morton said, taking out a Pokéball. "Let's make it three-on-three. Kairi accepts his challenge. She took out a Pokéball.
"You're on!" Kairi said. She threw it. "Go! Spinda!" Her Pokéball opens and her Spinda stumbles around.
"I choose you, Heracross!" Morton called out. His Heracross is a male and he's a little smaller than the one Sora has, but it shares his trainer's traits. "Heracross! Megahorn!" Heracross comes at Spinda with a full force of his horn and it's glowing green.
"Dodge it, Spinda!" Kairi called out. Spinda avoids Heracross's attack just by stumbling to the right. "Now use Dizzy Punch!" Spinda lands a punch onto her opponent. Heracross became confused.
"Snap out of it, Heracross! Use Hyper Beam!" Morton ordered. Heracross fires Hyper Beam despite being confused by Spinda's attack. Kairi wondered if Psychic would come in handy. She had to find out.
"Spinda! Use Psychic!" Kairi ordered. Spinda's swirly eyes began to glow and she took control of Hyper Beam. Spinda guides the beam right back at Heracross. Morton was mortified to see his Pokémon bested by his own attack.
"No! This isn't how it was supposed to happen!" Morton hissed. He calls back Heracross and takes out another Pokéball. He throws it. "Go! Skarmory!" His Pokéball opens and his Skarmory flies out, ready for some action. Kairi calls back her Spinda and takes out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Skitty!" Kairi called out. Skitty meows upon entry. Morton laughs with glee since he thought it was gonna be easy.
"I am going to have so much fun with this! Skarmory! Metal Claw!" Morton ordered. Skarmory comes down to swipe its talons at Skitty.
"Dodge and use Ice Beam!" Kairi ordered. Skitty avoids Skarmory's talons and fires the beam of ice. Skarmory avoids it by flying straight up. "Keep firing Ice Beam!" And that's what Skitty did. The kitten Pokémon kept firing Ice Beam.
"Keep dodging, Skarmory!" Morton called out. Skarmory kept dodging and dodging and got hit by Ice Beam once. "Use Double Team!" Skarmory made several copies of itself and quickly surrounded Skitty. "Now use Steel Wing!" Skarmory and the copies come down to swoop at Skitty. Luckily, she had an ace up her sleeve.
"Skitty! Use Shock Wave!" Kairi ordered. Skitty fires Shock Wave and it hits Skarmory, making the copies all vanish. "Now use Disarming Voice!" Skitty uses her sound attack to strike the armor bird Pokémon. "Now use another Shock Wave!" Skitty fires Shock Wave and it shocks it good. "Wrap it up with Ice Beam!" Skitty fires Ice Beam and freezes Skarmory solid, making it too cold to break loose. Morton was getting frustrated.
"No way she's that good! No freaking way!" Morton exclaimed. He started to give off a hateful expression. He calls back Skarmory. "I have had enough of this! Sandslash! Go in there!" He threw his Pokéball and his Sandslash enters the fray. Kairi calls back Skitty and takes out her next Pokéball. "It's your turn, Roselia!" Her Roselia emerges from her Pokéball and does a little stance.
"Sandslash! Shadow Claw!" Morton ordered. Sandslash comes at Roselia with its claws emitting a shadowy aura.
"Dodge and use Energy Ball!" Kairi ordered. Roselia avoids Sandslash's attack and fires a ball of energy and it struck Sandslash, causing some heavy damage.
"Sandslash! Slash!" Morton ordered. Sandslash comes at Roselia and swipes at thorn Pokémon. Contact with Roselia caused Sandslash to end up being poisoned. "Crap! I activated Roselia's Poison Point!" Sandslash takes damage due to its poisoning.
"Petal Blizzard!" Kairi ordered. Roselia fires a blizzard of flower petals and it struck Sandslash. This had earned Kairi a third knockout in a row. Morton calls Sandslash back and he is in a fit of rage.
"Impossible! I thought you were a weak Pokémon trainer and I was bested by you all the same! How are you so damn good?!" Morton exclaimed.
"I trained hard and I never gave up, that's how. You lost because you were quick to underestimate me. If you really knew who I was, then you would know about my Pokémon's strength," Kairi said.
"SHUT UP! I DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT ANY OF YOUR BABBLE! I'M JUST GONNA DO WHAT I SHOULD HAVE DONE IN THE FIRST PLACE! I'M GONNA TAKE YOU FOR MYSELF AND KEEP YOU TO USE WHENEVER I DAMN WELL WANT!" Morton raced to kidnap her, but Sora steps in.
"Oh no you won't! Pikachu! Thunderbolt!" Sora ordered. Pikachu fires Thunderbolt and shocks Morton, making him scream in pain. He goes flying into the air while he screams. "And don't ever mess with my girlfriend." Sora took Kairi in his arms. "That was close."
"Thanks for the save, Sora. I really mean it," Kairi said.
"I'm just glad that you're safe. If anything ever happened to you, I wouldn't forgive myself," Sora said.
"I would feel the same way about it if something happened to you," Kairi said. Pikachu and Angel shared their trainers' feelings. Lisia smiled to see how strong their love is. Sora saved her from a potential kidnapping attempt. "What do you think is going to happen to Morton?"
"Whatever it is, I can honestly say it'll be what he deserves," Lisia said.
"Couldn't agree with you more," Sora said.
Morton crashes down in a backyard garden of a mansion with the gardener coming out and he gasped when he saw Morton land in his flowerbeds.
"My flowerbeds! I just watered those and you trampled them!" The gardener yelled. "Security!" Two security guards came to the garden and took Morton right out to the front of the mansion and tosses him off the premises.
"And don't come back!" One of the guards yelled.
Just then, a police car rolled by and saw him. The police officer took out a wanted poster and it has Morton's mugshot, stating that he is wanted for stalking, several kidnapping attempts and assaults on girls. He took out a Pokéball.
"Do your thing, Drowzee!" He tosses it and Drowzee appears in front of Morton.
"A Drowzee?" Morton asked.
"Hypnosis!" The cop ordered. Drowzee hypnotizes the teen and falls asleep. He steps out of the car and cuffs him while he's sleeping. "Good work, Drowzee. Now we can put this pervo behind bars where he belongs.
"Drowzee, Drow," Drowzee said.
Over to Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, and Lisia, they made it off the mountain when the couple spotted a familiar and friendly face. It was Wally along with Kirlia. They both knew his Ralts had to evolve since the last time they saw him.
"Wally!" Sora and Kairi called out to him. Wally turned and saw the happy couple and a smile formed on his face.
"Sora! Kairi! I haven't seen you since Mauville City! I can't believe my own eyes!" Wally said happily as he laughed. "How have you been?!"
"We've been good! You?" Sora asked.
"Same. I have won three Gym Badges and I just need to win five more. You?" Wally asked. Wally shows them that Wally had won the Stone Badge, the Dynamo Badge and the Heat Badge.
"I already won five Gym Badges and I only need to win three more," Sora said, showing him his five Bages.
"Wow! You won five badges already! And that's the Balance Badge, isn't it? You beat Norman, didn't you?" Wally asked.
"Yeah. I knew Norman was tough, but tougher than I thought," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said. Pikachu introduced Angel to Wally's Kirlia. Kairi had noticed Ralts had to evolve at some point.
"Looks like your Ralts evolved," Kairi said.
"Sure did," Wally said. He notices the third member of their party. "Who is this?"
"Right, you haven't met her. This is Lisia, she's a travel companion of ours. Lisia, meet Wally. He's an old friend of May," Sora said.
"It's very nice to meet you, Wally," Lisia said.
"Right back you, Lisia," Wally said.
"What brings you here, Wally?" Lisia asked.
"I'm glad that you asked. I was in the area, searching for a Dawn Stone, because I plan on having my Kirlia evolve into a Gallade," Wally said.
"A Dawn Stone, huh?" Sora asked.
"Yes. An evolutionary stone that can make a Pokémon evolve a certain Pokémon. Since my Kirlia is a boy, I thought I could make him evolve into a Gallade instead of a Gardevoir," Wally said. Sora remembered his Kirlia and he figured he could have a Dawn Stone as well. But he thought of other evolutionary stones as well. He already has a Water Stone to get his Lombre to evolve into a Ludicolo, but he thought of getting a Leaf Stone to get Nuzleaf to evolve into a Shiftry, a Thunder Stone to get Charjabug to evolve into a Vikavolt, and maybe a Moon Stone to give to Kairi since he knew Skitty can evolve into a Delcatty with it. And maybe a Shiny Stone to get Roselia to evolve into a Roserade.
"You don't know if there could be some other evolutionary stones in the are by any chance, Wally?" Sora asked.
"I would have to think so. Why?" Wally asked.
"Just curious," Sora said.
They join Wally in search for a Dawn Stone. They searched in an area where they were certain to find some evolutionary stones. Sora did manage to find a Leaf Stone. Kairi found a Thunder Stone to give to Sora later. Lisia did find a few Water Stones and some Sun Stones. Wally did find what he had been searching for.
"Found some!" Wally announced. Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, and Lisia went to Wally's side as he took a Dawn Stone. "With it, I can have Kirlia evolve into a Gallade." Sora took one as well as did Kairi and Lisia.
"Never know when they'll come in handy," Kairi said, putting her stone in her backpack.
"I also found some Shiny Stones, but you can have one if you want, Kairi," Wally said, taking a Shiny Stone out. Kairi accepts the stone and places it in her backpack as well.
"Thank you, Wally," Kairi said.
"You're welcome, Kairi," Wally said.
They made their way to a nearby Pokémon Center to have their Pokémon rest up. Wally was wondering how May was doing and they told her that she's doing okay for herself. Lisia knew for certain Wally has a crush on May.
"Last time we saw her was at Professor Birch's lab. We'll tell her and Max you said hi the next time we see them," Sora said.
"Thanks Sora. I'll be sure to do the same, just in case I see them first," Wally said. But before we go our own way again, I was wondering if you would like to have a battle with me. I just wanna show you how strong I've gotten since I first got Kirlia."
"Sure Wally. Just because we're friends, doesn't mean that I'm gonna pull my punches with you," Sora said.
"I don't plan on you doing that, Sora," Wally said.
As soon as their Pokémon had finished their check-up Sora and Wally got ready for their battle. The girls sat on the bench, watching the battle.
"So, Wally, how do you want to do this?" Sora asked.
"Let's make it five-on-five," Wally suggested. He took out a Pokéball. "So, my first one is going to be Magnemite!" He threw it and his Magnemite levitated and goes sideways upon entry. Sora took out a Pokéball as well.
"Since Magnemite is a Steel Type Pokémon, the one I'm going with is Combusken!" Sora said, throwing his Pokéball. Combusken does a few punches and kicks upon entry. "Okay Combusken! Start tings up with Flame Charge!" Combusken starts up with Flame Charge.
"Magnemite! Dodge it!" Wally called out. Magnemite floats out of the way of Combusken's attack. "Now use Thunder Wave!" Magnemite sends out sparkles of electricity from its horseshoe magnets and paralyzes the young fowl Pokémon.
"Try to use Fire Punch!" Sora ordered. Combusken attempted to use Fire Punch depsite being paralyzed. His fist emits fire and heads for the magnet Pokémon.
"Magnemite! Dodge and use Magnet Bomb!" Wally ordered. Magnetmite sends out Magnet Bomb and it struck Combusken. It did little damage, but it still hurt. "Now use Shock Wave!" Magnemite fires SHock Wave and struck Combusken, earning a knockout. Sora was very impressed by Wally's victory in the first round.
"Did I do good, Sora?" Wally asked.
"Do good? You did better than good. The way you overpowered my Combusken despite having a disadvantage is proof that you're getting stronger," Sora said, calling back his Combusken as Wally calls back Magnemite.
"Glad that I could impress you, Sora," Wally said. He took out a Pokéball and threw it. "Your turn, Roselia!" Wally threw it and it let out a Roselia. Wally' Roselia wasn't as strong as Drew's, but it was still strong. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Your turn, Taillow!" Sora called out. Taillow flies around upon entry and stops to glare at Roselia.
"Taillow might have the Type advantage, but it won't beat my Roselia that easily," Wally warned.
"A Pokémon Coordinator I battled has a Roselia like this one and that one was nothing to cough at," Sora said.
"Well, my Roselia is much stronger. And I'm gonna prove it. Roselia! Use Razor Leaf!" Wally ordered. Roselia fires Razor Leaf from its two roses.
"Dodge it, Taillow!" Sora called out. Taillow avoids Roselia's Razor Leaf easily due to his speed. "Come on down with Peck!" Taillow pecks at Roselia and causes heavy damge due to its weakness to Flying Type attacks. "Now use Wing Attack!" Taillow smacks the thorn Pokémon with his wings.
"Not bad, Sora, but my Roselia isn't gonna go down that easily! Roselia! Sleep Powder!" Wally ordered. Roselia sprinkles light blue powder all over the battlefield.
"Fly higher to avoid it!" Sora called out. Taillow does fly higher to avoid Roselia's Sleep Powder. Sora waited until Sleep Powder had subsided since he knew it'll take effect as soon as the tiny swallow Pokémon gets close to it. Once it has, Sora had his move. "Aerial Ace!" Taillow flips backwards and darts right into Roselia and lands a crucial hit onto Roselia, earning a knockout. Wally calls back Roselia and he laughs.
"Nice one, Sora. Let's get the show on the road!" Wally said, taking out his next Pokéball and threw it. "I choose you, Delcatty!" His Delcatty comes out and ready for Wally's instructions and Sora calls back Taillow and takes out another Pokéball.
"Your turn, Marshtomp!" Sora called out. Marshtomp came out and ready to battle against the cat Pokémon. "Okay Marshtomp! Water Gun!" Marshtomp fires Water Gun right at Delcatty.
"Dodge it!" Wally called out. Delcatty avoids arshtomp's attack just by jumping out of the way. "Now use Attract!" Delcatty uses this move and Marshtomp immediately falls in love with his opponent.
"Uh-oh," Sora said.
"Pika," Pikachu said.
"This is bad. All of the Pokémon I have with me are all male! If I send any of them out, Delcatty will just use Attract just like just now. I need to play my cards right," Sora said in his thoughts.
"Okay Delcatty! Zen Headbutt!" Wally ordered. Delcatty comes at Marshtomp while surrounded by blue psychic energy.
"Dodge it!" Sora called out. Marshtomp was too immobilized by his infatuation to respond. Delcatty's Zen Headbutt lands a hit into the mud fish Pokémon.
"Now use Shadow Claw!" Wally ordered. Delcatty comes at Marshtomp to deliver Shadow Claw at him.
"Use Waterfall!" Sora ordered. Marshtomp manages to use Waterfall. Both clashes as they passed each other. Both Sora and Wally waited to see who was still standing. Marshtomp wasn't so lucky when he fell on the ground beaten. Sora calls back Marshtomp as Wally calls back Delcatty. "Good work, Wally."
"Thanks Sora. Now here's number four!" Wally said, taking out his next Pokéball. "Your turn, Marill!" He threw it and his Marill makes an entrance. Sora takes out his next Pokéball and threw it.
"Go right in, Grovyle!" Sora called out. When his Grovyle is let out of his Pokéball, he puts a twig in his mouth. "You can make the first move, Wally."
"Sure. Marill! Begin with Tackle!" Wally ordered. Marill charges at the wood gecko Pokémon to land a hit.
"Grovyle! Dodge with Quick Attack!" Sora called out. Grovyle avoids the aqua mouse Pokémon with his speed attack. "Now use Bullet Seed!" Grovyle fires Bullet Seed to land a hit.
"Dodge and use Bounce!" Wally ordered. Marill uses its tail and bounces out of the way of the seed attack. Marill starts to come down fast.
"Dodge it with Quick Attack!" Sora ordered. Grovyle dashes across the battlefield and manages to avoid Marill's bounce. Marill's attack had missed its mark. "Now use Leaf Blade!" Grovyle comes towards Marill and lands a leafy slash into the aqua mouse Pokémon. Marill had been taken down with just one hit from Grovyle. Wally calls back his Marill.
"Wow, you're even better in a battle than I thought you were, Sora. I can see why you beaten Norman and won the Balance Badge. How about we make a battle between our partners?" Wally suggested.
"Fine by me," Sora said. He turned to his partner and smiled. "How about it, Pikachu? You ready?"
"Pika!" Pikachu nodded. He enters the battle as Wally took out his Pokéball and threw it.
"Your turn now, Kirlia!" Wally called out as Kirlia had entered the battlefield against Pikachu. Both trainers and Pokémon were staring right at each other. Angel was hoping for Pikachu to win it. Pikachu turned to Angel and gave an affectionate smile to her and she smiles back at him. "Okay Kirlia! Start things up with your Mega Punch!" Kirlia comes at Pikachu to land a powerful punch.
"Dodge and use Iron Tail!" Sora ordered. Pikachu avoids Kirlia's Mega Punch and smacks him with Iron Tail. "Now use Quick Attack!" Pikachu dashes towards Kirlia to land a hit.
"Teleport!" Wally ordered. Kirlia avoids Pikachu by teleporting out of Pikachu's path and reappears right in front of him. "Now use Hypnosis!" Kirilia's eyes began to glow light blue, but Pikachu shuts his eyes before Kirlia puts Hypnosis into effect. Pikachu opens his eyes, shocking Kirlia and Wally. "Wha?! How?!" The girls were watching the battle closely.
"How did Hypnosis not work on Pikachu?" Lisia asked.
"Hypnosis doesn't work if the target has its eyes closed. Pikachu used this trick when Sora battled Sabrina in Saffron City. Pikachu covered his eyes using a cloth as a blindfold to cancel out her Hypno's Hypnosis, Dream Eater, and Nightmare combo. Pikachu took down Hypno like a blind samurai in battle," Kairi explained.
"Sora never ceases to amaze me," Lisia said.
"I wasn't expecting your Pikachu to avoid Hypnosis just by closing his eyes. You and your Pokémon are just full of surprises," Wally said.
"The battle's not over yet, Wally! Let's wrap this up as fast as we can!" Sora said.
"Couldn't agree with you more, Sora! Kirlia! Psybeam!" Wally ordered. Kirlia fires Psybeam right at Pikachu.
"Pikachu! Dodge with Quick Attack!" Sora ordered. Pikachu dashes pass Kirlia's attack and lands a hit onto Kirlia. "Now use Iron Tail!" Pikachu swings his tail right at the emotion Pokémon. "Now use Thunderbolt!" Pikachu fires Thunderbolt and it shocks Kirlia, dealing heavy damage.
"Kirlia! Use another Psybeam!" Wally ordered. Kirlia fires another Psybeam and it struck Pikachu.
"Use Electro Ball!" Sora ordered. Pikachu forms a ball of electricity and hurls it right at Kirlia.
"Use Teleport!" Wally ordered. Kirlia teleports out of Pikachu's Electro Ball. "Now use Mega Punch!" Kirlia movs right in to deliever the finishing blow.
"Pikachu! Iron Tail!" Sora ordered. Pikachu jumped to deliever Iron Tail to Kirlia. Both Pokémon clashes as they both landed a hit. Kirlia fell to the ground beaten. It was clear to see that Sora had won the battle. Wally didn't care that he lost because he had fun battling. He walked over to Kirlia and helped him up.
"You okay, Kirlia?" Wally asked kindly. Kirlia sadly nodded. "Don't feel bad about losing. You always do your best and that's all I can expect from you." Kirlia smiled, knowing he always has Wally's praises. With Sora's victory met, Angel ran over to Pikachu and gave her boyfriend a kiss on the cheek. Pikachu couldn't help but blush. Kairi did the same with her boyfriend. He looked over to Wally and smiled.
"Good battle, Wally! Gotta hand it to you, you did get stronger than before," Sora said. Wally smiled.
"Thanks Sora. Next time we battle, I'm going to be even more stronger by then. Just wait and see," Wally said.
And that was that. Even though Wally had lost, Sora could tell how much of a strong trainer he turned out to be. And what other battles would be coming Sora and Kairi's way next?
