Episode 253: Sky High Gym Battle
Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel had finally arrived in Fortree City and his Gym battle was so close, he could feel it within his fingertips. Upon arriving they saw how many of treehouses they saw while there were some on the ground. They found that it is an old tradition and many of the city's populists still live in them. Before heading for the city's Gym, they made a stop at the Pokémon Center only to see Riku, Naminé, Eevee and Azurill there."Riku!" Sora called out.
"Naminé!" Kairi also called out.
"Pika!" Pikachu greeted, running up to his friend and rival. Angel joined in.
"Sora, Kairi. It's good to see you both," Naminé said.
"Right back at ya," Sora said.
"It's a good thing you're here, because we have something very important to tell you," Riku said.
"Oh, can't it just be a simple hello and how are you doing kind of thing?" Sora groaned.
"Fraid not, Sora," Riku said.
"What is it?" Kairi asked.
"We came to tell you about Team Magma. They're planning terrible," Naminé said.
"Tell me something I don't already know," Sora sighed. He perked up when Naminé mentioned Team Magma. "Wait a tic! You saw Team Magma?!"
"We did. We saw them somewhere around Lilycove City. They were talking about controlling Groudon," Riku said.
"Eevee," Eevee nodded.
"Pi," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel said, worriedly.
"Team Aqua has plans for Kyogre," Sora said. "But, how did you know we would be here?"
"We met someone who said she knows you. She said her name is Lisia. We met her just days ago," Naminé said.
"Lisia? You met here? How is she?" Kairi asked.
"She was taken hostage by Team Magma," Naminé answered. Sora and Kairi gasped.
"What?!" Sora exclaimed.
"Oh no!" Kairi said.
"We rescued her and she told us that Team Magma planned on using her as a bargaining chip for Wallace. Something about a red orb," Riku said.
"Red orb?" Sora asked.
"That's what those guys were talking about. I heard it from the guy who I think is their leader; Maxie I think his name is. He plans to use Groudon to make the whole world one spit of land," Riku explained.
"Team Aqua is planning to make the whole world one huge ocean," Kairi said.
"What?!" Riku exclaimed.
"Yeah. And they want to use Kyogre to do it," Sora said.
"When I thought it was bad, it gets worse," Riku groaned. Naminé places her hand on his shoulder.
"I'm sure it's nothing we can't handle," Naminé said.
"Yeah, sure," Riku said, feeling uncertain. He looked at Sora. "Listen here, Sora, you should just focus on your Gym battles just for now. And we'll keep tabs on Team Magma and Team Aqua and we'll let you know when we need help."
"Okay," Sora said.
"Be careful, the both of you," Kairi said.
"You do the same," Naminé said.
Riku, Namimé, Eevee, and Azurill left the Pokémon Center. Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel were left with worry.
Over to Team Rocket, they made several attempts to make contact with HQ, but unfortunately, they were having some technical difficulties.
"James, can't you work even faster?" Jessie asked.
"Maybe it'll help if you didn't ask me that every five minutes!" James argued.
"We've been trying to get that thing up and running for the last three days, but it's saying no dice," Meowth said.
"Wobbufett," Wobbufett said.
James tried to get their communicator working again, but no luck and James just gave up.
"This thing is fried. There's no way we can get it working again," James said.
"So, that's it. Just quitting just like that," Jessie rolled her eyes.
"At least I know when to quit. And this time is it," James said. "I don't even know what excuse we have for not reporting in other than faulty wiring," James said.
"We'll just have to find another way to make contact back to HQ, that's all," Jessie said.
"Yeah, how? It's not like we're going to call the boss on his private number," James said.
"That's what I exactly have in mind," Jessie said. James winced when she said it.
"YOU'RE SERIOUS?!" James screamed.
"I am. We'll just find a phone and make a call the boss and tell him of our progress of keeping tabs on Team Magma and Team Aqua. Simple as that," Jessie said.
"Wobbu, Wobbu, Wobbu," Wobbufett said.
"That's an excellent plan, but what do we tell him what they're up to right now?" James asked, making Jessie realize she didn't plan that far ahead. She hangs her head in defeat.
"Why must you ask such a question?" Jessie asked in a low-tone voice. Meowth sighed.
"I think we should refill on water. Come on, Wobbufett. Let's shake a leg and get to it," Meowth said.
"Fett," Wobbufett said, joining Meowth.
Once Jessie and James were alone, they looked at each other and turned away with a blush.
"What the hell is the matter with me? I know we agreed to never speak of it again, but I can't get it out of my head. Jessie may be the biggest pain in the ass I have ever known, but what a nice ass she has," James said in his thoughts, almost drooling. He shook it off. "No! She's more than that. She's more than a pair of tits and a piece of ass. She's a colleague."
"Why do I still awkward around James? Ever since that one night, it's been filling my mind. I mean James may be some whiney rich boy, but he's actually someone I like to have around. I mean, he's very hot without a shirt on, and not to mention how big he is downstairs," Jessie said, also drooling. She shook her head. "No! I shouldn't have those thoughts! He's just a colleague."
"Why do I want him/her to be even more?" Jessie and James asked in their thoughts. Meowth and Wobbufett came back. Meowth noticed the tension between them and he managed to keep quiet about it, but he didn't know how much longer he could keep quiet about it.
Later, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel stepped out looking for the Fortree City Gym, when suddenly, something flew over them. They stopped to look up and they saw a Skarmory flying above them.
"Hey! A Skarmory!" Sora said.
"Where is she heading?" Kairi asked.
"I don't know, but we should follow and find out," Sora said.
"Pika," Pikachu said.
"I take it that it's your first time in Fortree City, right?" An old man asked.
"Yeah. My girlfriend and I came over for a Gym battle. Any idea what's up?" Sora asked.
"What's up? The Feather Festival is up, boy?" The old man said, laughing.
"The Feater Festival?" Kairi asked.
"It's an annual festival that our city holds year after year. I never missed a single festival my whole life. To answer your question even more, the Feather Festival is to celebrate the sky and the Pokémon who fly in it," the old man said. "And if you're looking for Winona, then you'll find her in the City's Square. She makes an appearence there as well."
The old man went to take part of the Feather Festival. Sora and Kairi decided to take part of it as well. They thought of asking Winona when they see her.
"Look at this place. Looks so much fun. So many games to try out," Kairi said.
"If that's what you want, Kairi, then that's what we'll do," Sora said. Kairi giggled.
"You would have the same idea, so that's why I thought of it," Kairi said.
Sora knew he walked into that one. Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel enjoyed their good time as they played some games and won some prizes for their significant others. Like for example, Sora threw a baseball right at some empty milk bottles, making them fall. The vendor hands Sora a plush Pikachu toy wearing a bow and Kairi loved it.
"Here you go, Kairi," Sora said, handing it to Kairi.
"Oh, Sora, look at how cute it is!" Kairi cooed. Sora smiled seeing his girlfriend having such a good time.
Meanwhile over to Gabby and Ty, they went to search for Sora and Kairi.
"Are you sure this kid is somewhere in this city?" Ty asked.
"Word is going around he is somewhere in Fortree City to challenge the Gym Leader of the Fortree City Gym for a battle, so where else is he gonna be?" Gabby asked.
"Point taken," Ty replied. "So, it's the gym we're heading?"
"Yep," Gabby said.
"So, how are we gonna record the battle without a camera? I'm too embarrassed to ask for a new one after losing the one we already had," Ty said.
Gabby knew Ty was right, they didn't have a camera with them after losing it after the Weather Institution incident.
Back to Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel were continuing on their date when they saw the same Skarmory from before.
"Look at that," Sora said.
"The Skarmory from before," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"It's heading for the city's square. We should check it out," Sora said.
"Okay," Kairi said, following him to the square.
They got to the city's square to see that the Skarmory had two riders on its back. One was a small boy, younger then Sora or Kairi. And the other is woman of medium height and slender. She has long, lavender hair tied in a thin ponytail with a white band, and violet eyes. Her hair sticks up at the side in two tufts, representing feathers. She is seen wearing a collared flight suit, with a grey helmet, and a pair of gray shoes. She wore a gray flying-suit, a pair of white gloves and trousers, with small decorations resembling wings, and a pair of grey shoes. Her back of her flying suit is shaped like a pair of wings.
"That was loads of fun!" The boy said happily.
"Glad you enjoyed the ride, Roddy," the woman said. "So, who wants to be my next co-pilot?"
"Me Winona! Me!" A little girls said, raising her hand.
"Okay, let's you aboard then," Winona said. She placed the little girl on Skarmory's back.
"I'm next, Winona, only I wanna go by myself," another boy said. Winona chuckled.
"My, aren't you the brave one," Winona said.
Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel has shown up to see her and the kids.
"So, this is what the fuss is all about," Sora said. Winona noticed the couple and smiled.
"Looks like we got some more eager ones. You'll have to wait your turn," Winona said.
"We were only curious about what was going on," Kairi said.
"Also, we were enjoying the Feather Festival. so we don't mind watching the show," Sora said.
"I appreciate it," Winona said.
"Also, watching you ride that Skarmory is pretty cool," Sora said.
"Thanks," Winona said smiling.
"She's not only cool, but she knows all sorts of stuff when it comes to Flying Type Pokémon," one boy said.
"She has to since she's the Fotree City Gym Leader," another little girl said. Sora got wide-eyed when he heard the girl say that the woman is Winona.
"Wait a minute. You're Winona?" Sora asked.
"That's me," Winona answered. "Why do you ask?"
"My name is Sora and I came here to challenge you into a Gym battle," Sora said. Winona smiled.
"How many have you earned so far?" Winona asked.
"Five and I'm planning to win a sixth," Sora said.
"Then, I accept your challenge, Sora. We can have our battle once the festival had concluded," Winona said.
"Sure," Sora said.
With that said, Winona took the kids on a ride on the back of the armor bird Pokémon. They enjoyed the ride as the wind was soft in their faces.
Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel enjoyed the festival even more and stopped when something caught their eye. It was a blue and red Pokémon with a bell like object on the top of its head. It's body is a circle but it has a huge tail that resembles a seal and on the bottom of the tail there is some red. By its face there is two upside-down "V" shaped red marks. It has three very small blue arms.
"Look at that, Sora," Kairi said.
"What could that be?" Sora asked, taking out his Pokédex. He scanned the Pokémon floating by.

In high winds, Chimecho cries as it hangs from a tree branch or the eaves of a building using a suction cup on its head. This Pokémon plucks berries with its long tail and eats them.
"Chimecho, huh?" Sora asked.
"So cute," Kairi cooed.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"To think that's what Chinling will evolve into," Kairi said.
"I know right," Sora said. He got an idea. "Say, why don't we let out our other Pokémon and let them have some fun too?"
"Good idea, Sora!" Kairi said.
"Everyone out!" Sora and Kairi shouted, letting out Manectric, Spoink, Lairon, Vikavolt, Shuppet, Plusle, Minun, Beautifly, Swablu, and Chingling.
"You guys ready to boogie?" Sora asked. All of the Pokémon made their opinions heard and started to have some fun in the festivities.
Lairon shared a ride with Manectric, Spoink, Plusle, and Minun while Beautifly and Swablu flew with Winona and her Skarmory.
"Joining in on the fun? You're welcome to fly along with us," Winona said. Beautifly and Swablu didn't waste any time and showed off some of their flying techniques.
Once the festival had concluded, Sora and Kairi called back their other Pokémon and Winona had approached the couple.
"I can see why it's called the Feather Festival and why you celebrate the sky," Sora said.
"I'm ready for our Gym battle, if you're still interested," Winona said.
"You know it, Winona," Sora said.
With that said, she led them to the Fortree CIty Gym for the upcoming Gym battle. Sora had some pretty tough Gym battles when he and Kairi came into the Hoenn region, and he knew Winona wasn't going to be any different. Sora and Winona stood on opposite sides of the battlefield and rose in podiums. Sora knew it was going to look like a sky-high battle. Before it got started, Winona bent to her knees and crossed her arms in prayer.
"Oh great sky above, I ask that you grant us wings. Grant us you power to conquer even the strongest of stormy winds. And please, guide us to your great blue world and let us share in its infinite power and majesty!" Winona said, standing up and spreading her arms like a bird spreading its wings. The referee took his position for the battle to start.
"The battle between The Gym Leader Winona and the challenger Sora from Pallet Town is about to begin! Both trainers will be using four Pokémon each! During the battle, only the challenger will be allowed to switch Pokémon. The battle will be over when all four of either the Gym Leader's or the challnger's Pokémon are unable to battle! Let the battle begin!" The referee announced.
"Take flight, Skarmory!" Winona called out and Skarmory flies around upon entry. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Go for it, Vikavolot!" Sora called out. Vikavolt buzzes around upon entry.
"Get her, Sora!" Kairi cheered.
"Eevee!" Angel also cheered.
"Skarmory! Begin with your Air Cutter!" Winona ordered. Skarmory fires bladed air right at its target.
"Dodge and use Thunderbolt!" Sora ordered. Vikavolt avoids Skarmory's attack and fires Thunderbolt. Skarmory easily avoids Vikavolt's attack.
"Nice dodge, Skarmory! Use Sand Attack!" Winona ordered. SKarmory flapped its wings to whip up sand and blinded the stag beetle Pokémon.
"No way!" Sora exclaimed.
"Now use Aerial Ace!" Winona ordered. Skarmory flipped into the air and darts into Vikavolt, making him fall right to the ground. Vikavolt makes a rough landing.
"Vikavolt! Get up!" Sora called out. Vikavolt manages to get back up on his feet. Vikavolt retakes flight into the air. "Electro Web!" Vikavolt fires Electro Web, but misses due to his accuracy loss. "Man, Sand Attack is making it hard for Vikavolt to land a hit. I'm gonna have to switch with Manectric just to play it safe." Sora calls back Vikavolt and takes out Manectric's Pokéball and threw it. Your turn now, Manectric!" Manectric makes his entry with a howl.
"So, it's another Electric Type Pokémon, is it? Many of my challengers have come at me with Electric Types and you're no exception. But it won't help you," Winona said. "Skarmory! Sand Attack!" Skarmory flaps its wings and sends sand right at the discharge Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Shock Wave!" Sora ordered. Manectric avoids Sand Attack and lands Shock Wave on Skarmory, dealing heavy damage. "I knew sending Manectric out and have him use Shock Wave was a good idea.
"Skarmory! Steel Wing!" Winona ordered. Skarmory came down with its wings out to strike at Manectric.
"Dodge with Quick Attack and follow up with Thunder Fang!" Sora ordered. Manectric came at Skarmory with his fangs emitting electricity and lands a hit onto the armor Pokémon. Skarmory suffered heavy damage and fell to the ground beaten.
"Skarmory is unable to battle! Manectric wins!" The referee announced.
"Good work, Manectric!" Sora praised as Manectric went up to Sora and licked his face. Winona calls back her Skarmory.
"You battled well. You deserve a good rest," Winona said. She takes out another Pokéball and threw it. "Now, I choose you, Pelipper!" Her Pokéball opens and Pelipper flies in the same style as her Skarmory. Sora looked right at Manectric and saw how he was able to go on. Kairi was watching the battle closely and she started to sense a pattern.
"First Skarmory and then Pelipper. What could it be that they have in common?" Kairi asked in her thoughts and it hit her. "Wait! Pelipper is a Water Type Pokémon out Skarmory is a Steel Type Pokémon. Flying Types are weak against Rocks Types and they're weak against Water and Steel Types. Skarmory and Pelipper are counter measures."
"Manectric! Use Shock Wave!" Sora ordered. Manectric fires Shock Wave to strike at Pelipper, but she saw that coming a mile away.
"Pelipper! Use Protect!" Winona ordered. Pelipper forms a protective barrier and blocks out Shock Wave.
"Wha?!" Sora gasped.
"Shock Wave can't be avoided, but it can be blocked," Kairi said.
"Now Pelipper! Use Wing Attack!" Winona ordered.
"Dodge it!" Sora called out. Manectric uses his speed to avoid Pelipper's Wing Attack, but got struck when Pelipper came down with alarming speed. Manectric was taking some pretty bad hits from the pelican-like Pokémon. Sora had to try Vikavolt again. He calls Manectric back and takes out Vikavolt's Pokéball.
"Back to action, Vikavolt!" Sora called out and Vikavolt re-enters the battle.
"So, he's sent Vikavolt back out. I don't doubt it's a pretty strong Pokémon, but it won't hold its own against Pelipper for long," Winona said in her thoughts.
"Vikavolt! Crunch!" Sora ordered. Vikavolt comes at Pelipper to clamp at it with his mandibles.
"Pelipper! Protect!" Winona ordered. Winona forms a protective barrier around itself and Crunch bounces off. Sora grits his teeth. Sora got an idea. He thought maybe if Vikavolt could get closer, he would use Electro Web and tangles Pelipper in it. He hoped it'll work. Kairi knew that her boyfriendhad a plan up his sleeve. "Use Water Pulse!" Pelipper forms a ball of water and hurls it right at Vikavolt.
"Block it with Electro Web!" Sora ordered. Vikavolt shoots Electro Web and blocks Water Pulse, making an explosion. Vikavolt buzzes through the smoke. "Now, get close enough to Pelipper!" Vikavolt heads right for Pelipper.
"Pelipper! Use Protect again!" Winona ordered. Pelipper got ready to use it, but Vikavolt was too close.
"Fire another Electro Web!" Sora ordered. Vikavolt fires Electro Web and it tangles Pelipper in the electrified web.
"Try to get loose!" Winona called out, but the web was too strong to break out of. "Oh no!"
"Oh yes! Vikavolt! Use Thunderbolt!" Sora ordered. Vikavolt fires Thunderbolt and shocks Pelipper in combination with Electro Web. The web disappeared and Pelipper fell to the ground beaten.
"Pelipper is unable to battle! Vikavolt wins!" The referee announced.
"Two down, two to go!" Kairi cheered.
"Eevee!" Angel cheered.
Winona calls back Pelipper and smiled kindly.
"Rest up, Pelipper. You have earned it," Winona said, taking out her third Pokéball. "That was an impressive display, Sora. The way you pulled off that accomplishment over my Pelipper has taken me completely by surprise. But will your Pokémon be able to withstand against this one?" She threw it. "I choose you, Altaria!" Winona threw it and her Altaria has entered the battle with a little more elegance. Sora calls back Vikavolt and he takes out his next Pokéball.
"Your turn now, Lairon!" Sora called out. Lairon enters the battle and skids his feet against the floor.
"So, now it's a Rock Type huh? Not surprising that you would have one of those. In fact that's what I was hoping for," Winona said. Sora didn't like how that came out.
"I have a bad feeling she has something planned for me," Sora said.
"Altaria! Use Dragon Dance!" Winona ordered. Altaria dances around and builds up both its speed and attack. "Now use Earthquake!" Altaria flew straight down to the ground and slams its feet and the battlefield starts shaking. Lairon stumbles around.
"So, Earthquake is a counter measure against both Electric and Rock Type Pokémon. What her Altaria know Fire Type attacks when the challengers uses Ice Types," Kairi said.
"Now use Flamethrower!" Winona ordered. Altaria fires Flamethrower right at Lairon and it struck him.
"Ask a dumb question and this is the answer you get," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Lairon! Rock Throw!" Sora ordered. Lairon performs Rock Throw and the rocks are thrown at the humming Pokémon.
"Dodge!" Winona called out. Altaria avoids Rock Throw, due to increased speed. "Now use Earthquake!" Altaria heads down to use Earthquake again.
"Lairon! Metal Claw!" Sora ordered. Lairon swipes at Altaria when it close enough. "Great! Now use Iron Head!" Lairon lands a metallic headbutt onto Altaria.
"Keep it up, Lairon!" Sora said.
"Altaria! Aerial Ace!" Winona ordered and Altaria darts right at Lairon. "Now use Flamethrower!" Altaria fires Flamethrower and lands a hit onto Lairon. Winona had finally earned a knockout in her favor.
"Lairon is unable to battle! Altaria wins!" The referee announced. Sora calls back Lairon.
"Oh man, I knew Winona was gonna make a comeback on me eventually. Maybe, power isn't the answer. Maybe I can match speed with speed," Sora said. He turned to Pikachu. "You ready to battle, buddy?"
"Pika," Pikachu said.
"Go for it, Pikachu!" Sora said. Pikachu stepped in for battle. Once Pikachu entered the battlefield, Angel started to cheer hard for Pikachu to win.
"I'm wth you, Angel. Sora and Pikachu are in perfect synch!" Kairi said.
"I knew you were going to send out your Pikachu sooner or later. Let's make this quick! Altaria! Earthquake!" Winona started to come down to the ground to use Earthquake again. Sora just grinned.
"I knew you were going to do that. Pikachu! Jump on Altaria's back!" Sora called out. Once Altaria was close enough, Pikachu jumped on the humming Pokémon's back.
"Shake Pikachu off your back!" Winona called out. Altaria tried to shake off Pikachu, but he just held very tight. Knowing, Pikachu won't hold for long, Sora had to let it all out.
"Okay Pikachu! Thunderbolt! Full power!" Sora ordered. Pikachu gave Altaria a full power shock. Altaria comes crashing down and Pikachu gets off before Altaria hits the ground. Altaria tried to get back up only to fall back to the ground, beaten.
"Altaria is unable to battle! Pikachu wins!" The referee announced. Angel cheered hardily for Pikachu. Feeling Angel's support, Pikachu blew a kiss to the female Eevee ans she catches it and blows a kiss back to Pikachu. Winona calls Altaria back.
"Have yourself a good long rest, Altaria. You deserve it," Winona said, putting the Pokéball away. She takes out her last Pokéball. "Your battling skills are impressive, Sora. Not many of my challengers could have gotten pass my Altaria's speed like you just did. And the way you battle tells me you're no ordinary trainer. But you'll be no match against this one." She threw her Pokéball. "Go! Swellow!" The Pokéball opens and out came s green Swellow. The spots that were red were orange. Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel were amazed to see this altered colred swallow Pokémon.
"A Shiny Swellow," Kairi said.
"If you thought my other Pokémon were amazing, then you haven't met my Swellow, for I have been saving her for last," Winona said.
"I'm not gonna back down! Pikachu! Use Thunderbolt!" Sora ordered. Pikachu fires Thunderbolt, but Winona has an ace up her sleeve.
"Use Double Team!" Winona ordered. Swellow makes several images of herself and Thunderbolt misses.
"Oh no!" Sora exclaimed.
"Oh yes! Now use Brave Bird!" Winona ordered. Swellow flies straight into the air and her body becomes surrounded in an orange bird-shaped aura. She then slams into the mouse Pokémon with full force. Pikachu taken a bad hit before Sora had time to react. Swellow had taken some recoil damage when taking it. "Now finish it with Air Slash!" Swellow fires Air Slash and struck Pikachu hard. Pikachu had been taken down.
"Pikachu is unable to battle! Swellow wins!" The referee announced. Kairi came to the battlefield and took her boyfriend's partner in her arms.
"Don't worry, Sora. Pikachu is going to be fine," Kairi assured him.
"Thanks Kairi. You're a saint," Sora said, making Kairi blush. She sat down and Angel rushes to Pikachu and nuzzles him.
"Are you okay, Pikachu?" - Angel subtitle.
"I'm fine. Just got pelted by some pretty mean hits." - Pikachu subtitle. Angel smiles and rubs her cheek against his. "Still love me even if I lost?" - Pikachu subtitle.
"Win or lose, I'll always love you." - Angel subtitle. She rubs her her head against Pikachu and he wraps his arms around her. Pikachu felt as lucky as Sora to have such a supportive girlfriend. Kairi smiled and foound it very cute.
"This takes me back," Kairi said.
"Lost Pikachu and Lairon. Either Manectric or Vikavolt will make all the difference. Maybe I should go with Manectric and send Vikavolt back out as a last resort," Sora said, taking out Manectric's Pokéball. "Back to action, Manectric!" Manectric renters the battle. "Use Shock Wave!" Manectric fires Shock Wave and landed a hit. Swellow was just taking the hit like it was nothing. Sora didn't know how to think. "What the?!"
"Okay Swellow! Another Brave Bird!" Winona ordered. Swellow uses another Brave Bird and it the discharge Pokémon and it was just enough to finish Manectric off.
"Manectric is unable to battle! Swellow wins!" The referee announced.
Sora and Winona were down to one Pokémon each. Swellow had taken some recoil damage from using Brave Bird, but he knew she had enough steam to keep going, but the question is, does Vikavolt have enough to keep going. He takes out Vikavolt's Pokéball.
"You're my last chance, Vikavolt. Gotta make this count," Sora said. He threw his Pokéball. "Back to action, Vikavolt!" The Pokéball and Vikavolt buzzes upon entry.
"Say Sora, how about we make this a sky-high battle. What do you say?" Winona suggested.
"Sure thing," Sora said. The podiums start going up higher as did Swellow and Vikavolt. "okay Vikavolt! Thunderbolt!" Sora ordered.
"Dodge and use Steel Wing!" Winona ordered. Swellow dodges Vikavolt's Thunderbolt and flies towards Vikavolt with her wings glowing metallically.
"Dodge and use Crunch!" Sora ordered. Vikavolt avoids Swellow and lands a crunch onto Swellow. "Now use Signal Beam!" Vikavolt fires Signal Beam and it struck the Shiny swallow Pokémon. "Good work, Vikavolt!"
"Swellow! Use Roost!" Winona ordered. Swellow gives off a white angelic glow and recovers from her injuries.
"No way!" Sora exclaimed.
"Use Brave Bird!" Winona ordered. Swellow flew towards Vikavolt with another Brave Bird.
"Vikavolt! Electro Web!" Sora ordered. Vikavolt fires Electro Web right at Swellow and gets struck hard by the electrified web. "Now use Thunderbolt!" Vikavolt fires Thunderbolt and struck her hard. It would have been enough to take Swellow down, but it wasn't. Swellow just shook it off. "Use Signal Beam!"
"Dodge it, Swellow!" Winona ordered. Vikavolt fires Signal Beam and it misses. "Steel Wing!"
Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel watched as Vikavolt and Swellow kept going as Vikavolt fired Signal Beam again and misses.
"Come on, Sora. I know you can do it," Kairi said.
"Vikavolt! Electro Web!" Sora ordered. Vikavolt fires Electro Web again right at Swellow, hoping Swellow was going to get caught again.
"Use Roost!" Winona ordered. Swellow heals her injuries again and readies herself. "Now use Brave Bird!" Swellow flew towards Vikavolt to land a damaging hit.
"Dodge and use Crunch!" Sora called out. Vikavolt tried to fly to avoid Brave Bird, but Swellow came too fast and landed a hit on the stag beetle Pokémon. Winona was certain she won the battle, but she was surprised to see Vikavolt was still flying.
"Impossible! How can Vikavolt still keep going after taking Brave Bird?" Winona asked. Sora grinned as he watched his Vikavolt still in the air.
"Sophocles's Vikavolt would be proud. You're just like him. I know you're going to the same. Vikavolt! Fly around and fire Signal Beam from left to right!" Sora ordered. Vikavolt obeys and fires at Swellow with Swellow with incredible speed. Swellow took hits from left and right.
"Swellow! Use Roost!" Winona ordered. Swellow tried to use Roost to heal, but she's having trouble to do so due to Vikavolt bombarding her with Signal Beam. "Swellow must be running low on energy to heal!"
"Now use Crunch!" Sora ordered. Vikavolt flew towards Swellow and grabs her in his mandibles. Vikavolt tosses Swellow down to the ground like a rag doll. Swellow hurdles downwards and struck the ground hard.
"Get up, Swellow!" Winona called out. Swellow tried to keep going, but Swellow fell back on the ground, being not full of energy to keep going.
"Swellow is unable to battle! Vikavolt wins! The challenger Sora wins the battle!" The referee announced. Kairi , Pikachu, and Angel cheered that Sora had won. Winona calls her Swellow back and both podiums lower back to the ground as Vikavolt landed back down.
"Good work, Vikavolt! I knew you could do it," Sora said. Vikavolt beamed having to be praised by Sora. Winona walked up to Sora with a smile.
"Congratulations, Sora. You were one of the toughest trainers I have ever faced. It would seem the sky was not on my side today. As Gym Leader, it pleases me to present you the Feather Badge," Winona said, taking out a badge that shaped like feathers on a bird's wing. Sora accepts his badge.
"Thanks Winona," Sora said, accepting his badge. "And this makes six." Kairi walked up to her boyfriend and hugged him from behind.
"A Gym Badge isn't the only thing you haven't won today," Kairi said. She gave him a kiss on the cheek, making him blush. Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel stepped out of the gym with Winona the Gym.
"The next Gym you should challenge should the Gym in Mossdeep City," Winona said.
"That's good to know," Sora said.
"I wish you luck on your way," Winona said.
As the two couples took their leave, they knew they were well on their way. The next Gym challenge lays with Mossdeep City as he only needs two more Gym Badges in order to enter the Hoenn Pokémon League. And the adventure continues.
