Episode 255: The Lilycove of the Valley
After making their way from Fortree City and a series of evolutions, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel had arrived in Lilycove City for Kairi to enter in her next Pokémon Contest. The Contest has everyone in a real buzz with the preparations since many of the trainers are also Pokémon Coordinators.
"Looks like we made it just in time," Kairi said.
"We sure have," Sora agreed. "With the Lilycove Pokémon Contest going on, it's no wonder it got everyone preping up."
Just when they were about to head for the local Pokémon Center, they hear a commotion going on. They went to see what it was and it turns out that a battle was going on between four trainers. It was a double battle between two teams. One team is consisted of a Blaziken and an Electivire against two other Pokémon. One is a large, bipedal, reptilian, gecko-like Pokémon that looks like it possess the traits of dinosaurs. It has powerfully-built limbs and muscular legs that allow it to run at high speeds to chase after its prey in the jungles where it lives. Its body is mostly vivid green in color, and it has a gracefully rounded belly with a horizontal, pale red stripe extending across it. It has a light red chin and narrowed eyes with small, slit pupils and yellow scleras, with a red rim around the outsides. It has bladed leaves on its wrists. It has a long, large dark green, fern-like plant that resembles a tree for a tail, and a cluster of small round yellow nutrient-rich seeds growing on its back. It has three sharp green claws on both its hands and toes. The other is large quadruped Pokémon that has the traits of Mudkip and Marshtomp. It has a long bluish/whitebody with a lighter blue underbelly. It has four appendages that are a cross between legs and fins. With these, it sometimes stands upright on its hind legs, and at other times is on all fours like a quadruped animal. Each has an orange oval on it. The Pokémon has large, fan-shaped fins above its eyes and a huge axe-like fin growing out of its behind as a prosaic tail would. It also has a pair of orange gills on either side of its face. It also has very small orange eyes.
"Are those two what I think they are?" Sora asked. A man standing next to the couple turned to them.
"If you're thinking that's a Sceptile and a Swampert, then you would be right," the man said. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned both Sceptile and Swampert

The leaves growing on Sceptile's body are very sharp edged. This Pokémon is very agile—it leaps all over the branches of trees and jumps on its foe from above or behind.

Swampert is very strong. It has enough power to easily drag a boulder weighing more than a ton. This Pokémon also has powerful vision that lets it see even in murky water.
"Wow. First a Blaziken and now those two. A battle between all three fully evolved Hoenn starters is way too good to miss," Sora said.
"Pika, Pika!" Pikachu said.
"Blaziken! Begin with Blaze Kick on Sceptile!" Blaziken's trainer ordered.
"Electivire! Use Power Up Punch on Swampert!" Electivire's trainer ordered.
Blaziken and Electivire both came at Sceptile and Swampert with their kick and punch attacks.
"Sceptile! Use Dragon Claw on Electivire!" Sceptile's trainer ordered.
"Swampert! Use Aqua Tail on Blaziken!" Swampert's trainer ordered. Swampert swung its tail at Blaziken with its tail emitting water and landing a heavy blow. Sceptile swiped its claws at Electivire. "Now use Hammer Arm!" Swampert swings its arm down like a hammer and it belts Blaziken.
"Blaziken! Focus Punch!" Blaziken's trainer ordered. Blaziken comes at Swampert to land a punch.
"Electivire! Use Thunder Punch!" Electivire's trainer ordered. Electivire came at Sceptile to land a punch.
"Sceptile! Leaf Blade!" Sceptile's trainer ordered. Sceptile swipes at Electivire. He turned to his partner. "How about we wrap this up?"
"Couldn't agree more," Swampert's trainer said. "Swampert! Hydro Cannon!
"Sceptile! Use Frenzy Plant!" Sceptile's trainer ordered.
Sceptile's body gave an evergreen glow and slams its claws into the ground as thorny roots came out. Swampert fires a powerful water attack from its mouth, making Hydro Pump seem like a kids squirt gun. Blaziken gets tangled in the roots while Electivire is struck by Swampert's Hydro Cannon. Both Pokémon had been taken down.
"Another win for the titans of forest and swamp!" The two trainers exclaimed as Sceptile and Swampert high-five each other.
The crowd were amazed by the raw power these two trainers had. They looked around among the crowd.
"Who is next to have a taste of our power?" Sceptile's trainer asked. Swampert's trainer pointed to Sora and Kairi.
"How about those two right there? They look easy enough!" Swampert's trainer said.
"How about it? Wanna battle us?" Sceptile's trainer asked.
"Yeah, I could use a warm-up before my next Gym battle," Sora said.
"Me too. I could use some practice for the Lilycove City Contest," Kairi said.
"We like your spunk," Swampert's trainer said.
"The Pokémon we're going with will be Sceptile and Swampert!" Sceptile's trainer said. Sora and Kairi looked at each other and nodded. They get into place and they each take out a Pokéball.
"Let's go! Bagon!" Sora threw his Pokéball and Bagon had emerged flapping his arms upon entry.
"Take flight, Altaria!" Kairi called out. Altaria flies out in a dazzling manner.
"A Bagon and an Altaria! So it's two Dragon Types against the titans of forest and swamp," Swampert's trainer said.
"This makes the battle even more interesting," Sceptile's trainer said. "You can have the first move."
"Bagon! Fire Fang on Sceltile!" Sora ordered. Bagon came at Sceptile with his teeth emitting fire.
"Altaria! Dragon Breath on Swampert!" Kairi ordered. Altaria fires Dragon Breath at Swampert.
"Sceptile! Dodge and use Dragon Claw!" Sceptile's trainer ordered.
"Swampert! You dodge and use Hammer Arm!" Swampert's trainer ordered. Swampert avoids Dragon Breath and lands a heavy blow in the humming Pokémon. Altaria slams onto the ground.
"Man, these guys are tough," Sora said.
"We faced tougher opponents than them," Kairi reminded her boyfriend. "Altaria! Use Round!" Altaria began to sing her song. Swampert and the music notes struck both opponents.
"Bagon! Use Headbutt!" Sora ordered. Bagon charged and landed a Headbutt onto Sceptile. "Now use Fire Fang!" Bagon lands a burning bite and deals some damage.
"Sceptile! Dragon Claw!" Sceptile's trainer ordered. Sceptile swiped his claw at Bagon. The rock head Pokémon tumbles back, but gets back up on his feet.
"Swampert! Use Aqua Tail!" Swampert's trainer ordered. Swampert jumped and swung its tail forward.
"Altaria! Dodge and use Disarming Voice!" Kairi ordered. Altaria uses her sound attack and it struck Swampert and Sceptile. "Use Peck!" Altaria starts pecking at Sceptile, dealing some heavy damage due to its weakness to Flying Type attacks.
"Atta girl! Bagon! Fire Fang!" Sora ordered. Bagon jumped and his mouth emitted fire.
"Smack Bagon away!" Sceptile's trainer ordered. Sceptile bats Bagon with its large tail. "Now use Leaf Blade!" Sceptile swipes at Bagon, dealing some damage. Bagon looked like he was down and out, but not even close. Bagon let's out a loud yell and started evolving, captivating everyone.
"Hey! That kid's Bagon is evolving!" One man shouted.
"It looked like it was on the ropes," one boy added.
Bagon had now become a quadruped Pokémon that resembles a pupal stage. There are bone structures covering his body, which form a shell with two openings and three ridges on top. One opening is in front, revealing two yellow eyes, while the other opening is in the back.
"Cool! That Bagon evolved into a Shelgon!" Another boy called out. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned his newly evolved Pokémon.

Inside Shelgon's armor-like shell, cells are in the midst of transformation to create an entirely new body. This Pokémon's shell is extremely heavy, making its movements sluggish.
"Shelgon, huh?" Sora asked.
"I wasn't expecting that Bagon to evolve!" Swampert's trainer exclaimed.
"Neither did I, but that means, it won't be able to dodge so easily! Sceptile! Dragon Claw!" Sceptile's trainer ordered. Sceptile charges towards Shelgon to swipe its claws at it.
"Swampert! Hammer Arm!" Swampert's trainer ordered. Swampert comes to smack its arm at Shelgon, but Sora quickly knew what to do.
"Shelgon! Protect!" Sora ordered. Shelgon forms a protective barrier around himself and the attacks bounces off. "Use Fire Fang!" Shelgon creates two fangs of fire and clamps onto Sceptile.
"Altaria! Use Dragon Breath!" Kairi ordered. Altaria fires Dragon Breath and landed a hit onto Swampert, causing paralysis. "Now use Round and wrap it up!" Altaria sang her song and the music notes struck them both, finishing them both off. Both the opposing trainers were at a loss to see that they had lost the battle.
"NO WAY!" Sora and Kairi's opponents shouted.
"Wow! Those two are good!" One woman said.
"And so are Shelgon and Altaria!" Another boy added.
"I'm definitely raising Dragon Types when I become a trainer!" One little girl said.
The opposing trainers went up to Sora and Kairi and shook their hands.
"Congrats, you two. You're pretty tough trainers," Sceptile's trainer said.
"It's been a while since we had a opponents like you," Swampert's trainer said.
"Thanks guys," Sora said.
"You did a good job raising them, it's no wonder they gave us a hard time," Kairi said. The trainers both smiled.
"Anyway, you said you were taking part of that contest, didn't you?" Sceptile's trainer asked.
"That's right," Kairi said.
"We're going to be rooting for you," Sceptile's trainer said.
"After that battle you gave us, how could we not?" Swampert's trainer asked.
The crowd were amazed by Sora and Kairi's battling skills. They went off into the Pokémon Center to have Shelgon and Altaria rest up. Upon arriving, they had checked the Dragon Types in. They sat down at a bench.
"Have you decided on which on you're gonna use?" Sora asked. Kairi paused for a moment.
"I haven't decided when we got here, but I figured on using Altaria for the contest. I mean, Beautifly, Ribombee, Togedemaru, Milotic, and Bewear had done a good job since I became a Pokémon Coordinator. If Lisia's Altaria has gotten her so far, then I don't doubt mine can," Kairi said. Sora smiled and places his arm around his girlfriend.
"Good thinking, Kairi," Sora said. "As soon as Shelgon and Altaria are healed, we can head on to the beach and do some training. What do you say?" Kairi liked what Sora was thinking.
"Good plan, Sora," Kairi said.
Once the couple's Dragon Type Pokémon were healed, they headed down to the local beach to do some training. Upon getting there, Sora is greeted by a friendly Spheal.
"Spheal! Spheal! Spheal!" The Spheal clapped.
"Hey there, little guy. Have you come to greet us?" Sora asked.
"Pika," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Spheal!" The Spheal clapped.
"It's very nice to meet you, Spheal. My name is Sora," Sora greeted.
Kairi called out Altaria.
"Altaria! Dragon Breath!" Kairi ordered. Altaria fires a Dragon Breath all around. "Now use Round and followed by Disarming Voice!" Altaria started to sing. Sora, Pikachu, Angel, and Spheal were astounded by beautiful voice.
"Wow, just wow," Sora said.
"Pika," Pikachu added.
"Eevee," Angel added.
Altaria follows with Disarming Voice. Once Altaria had finished, Altaria landed next to her trainer. She pets the humming Pokémon on the head.
"Good work, Altaria. I know you're going to get me through," Kairi said. Altaria nuzzles her. Sora, Pikachu, Angel, and Spheal applauded for the performance and she took a bow. "Thank you for your kind support." Sora went up to his girlfriend and they both shared a loving kiss. Spheal tilted its head and rolled over to the couple. Spheal started to tap on Sora's leg. They stopped kissing and they turned to the ball seal Pokémon looking at them. Spheal nuzzles Sora's leg. "I think he likes you, Sora."
"I think you're right," Sora said. He bends to Spheal's level. "I bet you wanna hang with us, right?" Spheal nodded. "Okay, but I'm gonna have to battle you, 'kay?" Spheal got himself into position and was ready for anything. Sora took out Grovyle's Pokéball and threw it. "Go for it, Grovyle!" The Pokéball opens and Grovyle places his twig in his mouth. "Start things up with Quick Attack!" Grovyle dashes towards Spheal to land a hit, but Spheal just rolls out of the way to dodge. Spheal fires Powder Snow right at Grovyle. "Dodge and use Bullet Seed!" Grovyle avoids Powder Snow and fires Bullet Seed. The attack came too fast for Spheal to dodge and got pelted by the attack. "Now use Fury Cutter!" Grovyle swipes his claws at Spheal and landed a hit. "Now use Leaf Blade!" Grovyle uses Leaf Blade on the ball seal Pokémon, but wasn't enough to bring him down, so he fires Water Gun right at Grovyle. "Dodge and use Fury Cutter again!" Grovyle swipes at Spheal again and did some heavy damage. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it. It struck Spheal and he flows inside of it. The Pokéball wobbles around and around for a moment before stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Sora's Pokédex starts buzzing asking him if he wants to keep Spheal with him. He chose to keep Spheal in exchange for Shelgon. He lets Spheal out of his Pokéball and clapped. "Welcome to the team, Spheal."
"Spheal, Spheal!" Spheal said, clapping.
Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel all returned to the Pokémon Center along with their newest member to have some lunch at one of the restaurants.
Meanwhile, Genghis and Kahnnie had finally arrived in the Hoenn region to give word on Giovanni's betrayal.
"How long do you think it's going to take before they find that Jessie and James's Pokémon are no longer at HQ?" Kahnnie asked.
"Not long, I can guess. They're never going to pin it on us since Mimikyu and Marenie disabled the cameras," Genghis said.
"That's good for us," Kahnnie said.
"Do you think they've erased their files?" Genghis asked.
"If they haven't yet, then they must be waiting to hear from them. I doubt they're going to wait forever," Kahnnie said.
"We gotta hurry and find them; that's going to be our top priority. I'm sure they'll do the same for us," Genghis said.
"They would," Kahnnie agreed.
The two Team Rocket members set off to search for Jessie and James. They only hoped that they're okay.
Riku, Naminé, Eevee, and Azurill had been searching for clues on Team Magma and Team Aqua and so far, they didn't seem to find a single clue.
"Man, this isn't as easy as I thought," Riku said.
"Eevee," Eevee said.
"I guess it would have been too easy if they were right in front of us," Naminé pointed out.
"Azu, Azu," Azurill chirled. Riku could only sigh.
"You're right. Nothing is really easy," Riku said. "We better take a break before our feet fall off." Riku, Naminé, Eevee, and Azurill made a stop to rest up for a bit.
"Excuse me," a new voice came out. They turned to see the newcomer. He is tall boy with long, wavy purple hair and blue eyes. He wears a green hat that is similar to Cacturne's head, a blue shirt that has a cut rectangle which exposes his belly, a collared jacket and pants that are green in color with a darker zigzag pattern on both of his sides, a white belt with a yellow button and white-heeled shoes. With him is a Cacturne. "I was just passing by and I noticed how you and your Eevee share the same hairstyle. Is it safe to assume that you're a Pokémon trainer?"
"Very safe to assume," Riku stated. "Eevee is actually my very first Pokémon."
"Eevee," Eevee said.
"Is that right? I never would have guessed. You and your Eevee are a match," the boy said. "Don't wanna seem rude, the name's Harley."
"Is nice to meet you, Harley. My name is Naminé and this is my boyfriend Riku," Naminé introduced.
"Nice to meet you, Naminé. So, what brings you two out here? A romantic outing, may I guess?" Harley asked.
"No. But you're right to guess it. The thing is, we're looking into some business involving some jokers calling themselves Team Magma and Team Aqua. Know anything about them?" Riku asked. Harley winced.
"Team Magma and Team Aqua? Why would you want to get mixed up with them?" Harley asked.
"Let's just say that they're up to something huge. You haven't seen any one of them, did you?" Riku asked.
"No. Haven't," Harley said.
"Thought it would be too easy," Riku said.
"Changing the subject, you're not participating in any Pokémon Contests are you?" Harley asked.
"No way. Not my thing," Riku said. "I just travel around, looking for a challenge. Make myself stronger."
"Okay, good reason, I guess," Harley said. "Say, how about you and I have a battle, one-on-one."
"Sure. I'm going to be using my Eevee," Riku said.
"Vee," Eevee said.
"And I'm going with my Cacturne," Harley said. Cacturne stepped in front of Harley and waited for instructions. It took a glance at Eevee. "Cacturne! Begin with Bullet Seed!" Cacturne fires Bullet Seed at the evolution Pokémon.
"Dodge it with Dig!" Riku ordered. Eevee dug into the earth and Bullet Seed misses its target.
"That Eevee will come out at any moment. Be ready for it," Harley said. Cacturne looked around for any signs of Eevee. He jumps out of a hole in Cacturne's right. "There it is on your right! Needle Arm!" Cacturne swings its spiny arm at Eevee.
"Use Shadow Ball!" Riku ordered. Eevee fires Shadow Ball and it struck Cacturne hard. "Now use Swift!" Eevee fires Swift and it pelts Cacturne hard. Harley didn't like how it was going.
"What was that?! I thought his Eevee was a weakling, but it's just the opposite!" Harley said in his thoughts.
"Now fire another Shadow Ball!" Riku ordered. Eevee fires Shadow Ball and it heads for Cacturne.
"Cacturne! Block it with Cotton Spore!" Harley ordered. Cacturne blocks Eevee's Shadow Ball with Cotton Spore. "Now use Needle Arm!" Cacturne came at Eevee to deliever Needle Arm.
"Dodge with Quick Attack!" Riku ordered. Eevee avoids Needle Arm. "Shadow Ball! Full power!" Eevee forms a rather large Shadow Ball and sends it right at Cacturne. The scarecrow Pokémon took a pretty bad hit and fell to the ground beaten. Harley was horrified to see his Cacturne had lost.
"What the hell was that?" Harley asked. "I lost to some kid?!"
"Good job as always," Riku said.
"Eevee!" Eevee chirped.
With the battle over and done with, Harley just glared at Riku, not believing how someone like can be so strong.
"I won't forget this," Harley said under his breath. He took off. Harley stormed off, fuming over his defeat by Riku and his Eevee. "How could have lost to some snot-nosed kid! I thought his Eevee is weak. How could I have known it so strong?! When I see him again, I'm going to make him pay through the nose!"
Back to Lilycove City on the next day, the couples made their way to what looks like a marketplace of berries.
"Berries for sale! Get your berries! Blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, boysenberries, and blackberries!" A vendor shouted.
Sora and Kairi had passed by to witness the different kinds of berries present. Cheri Berries, Oran Berries, Razz Berries, Pecha, Berries, and so on.
"How are we doing on berries, Kairi?" Sora asked.
"Almost not enough to make Pokémon food and PokéBlock. We should restock on the stuff before anything else," Kairi said.
"How much?!" A new voice shouted. Sora and Kairi turned to see a girl with violet hair and blue eyes. She wore a black shirt under a pair of cyan overalls, purple shoes with white laces, tongues, and edges. She wore white gloves with a red tuft at the end. With her is a Grumpig. She held two bags. Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel saw she was in an argument with a vendor. "What? For two measly bags? I could have bought the whole tree for that!"
"Grum, Grum," Grumpig said.
"I can be pretty loud!" The girl said before turning up the volume of her voice. "DON'T BUY FROM THIS GUY, HE'LL RIP YOU OFF!" The vendor covered his ears. Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel slowly backed away when another vendor came up to them.
"Excuse me," the vendor said. The couples turned around to see him. "How would you like to have a taste of this fresh Nomel Berry I just picked? It's delicious." He bent down to Pikachu and Angel. "Try one of these, you two." Pikachu and Angel each took one and they ate it. They liked the sensation dancing right on their tastebuds.
"You like it, Pikachu?" Sora asked his partner.
"Pika," Pikachu said.
"Theose look great," Sora took one.
"Sora, don't!" Kairi tried to warn her boyfriend, but too late. Sora's face puckered.
"SOUR!" Sora exclaimed. He remembered tasting the sour Grepa Berry bread made by Mallow's brother.
"Sorry, when I said it was delicious, I meant for Pokémon, not people," the vendor said.
"Now, you tell me," Sora said. The vendor held out a plate of Mago Berries.
"Here, try these Mago Berries. They should cancel out the sour taste," the vendor said. Not needing a second thought, he took a piece and ate it. The sourness disappeared from his mouth.
"Now, these are great," Sora said. The girl and Grumpig from before start to make their way through the crowd.
"Excuse me, coming through, watch where I'm going casue I'm sure not!" The girl said, falling backwards and the bag along the berries were falling. Sora and Kairi gasped before Grumpig uses its psychic powers to gather up the berries back in the bag. The girl fell flat on her face, but Grumpig levitates the bag back down next to her. Everyone all applauded for Grumpig.
"Did you see that? So cool!" A random boy said.
"An awesome way of using Psychic!" Another boy said. The girl stood back up on her feet.
"Thanks everyone! We'll be in the contest! Come cheer for us tomorrow! Thank you!" The girl said.
"So, if you're entering the contest, then that means, you're entering the contest too," Kairi said. The girl turned to the auburn haired girl.
"Yeah! My name's Kelly. And this is my partner Grumpig," Kelly introduced.
"Nice to meet you, Kelly. My name is Kairi and this is my boyfriend Sora along with his Pikachu and my Eevee Angel," Kairi introduced.
"Good meet you, Kelly," Sora said.
"Pika, Pika," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"It's nice to meet you Kairi and Sora. I thought you both looked familiar because I saw you in that tag battle yesterday. I think you both used Dragon Type Pokémon, a Shelgon and an Altaria. I also heard you mention that you're going to be entering the Contest. How many have you won?" Kelly asked.
"I only won four and I only need one more to enter the Grand Festival," Kairi said.
"Wow! You won four ribbons?! No way!" Kelly exclaimed.
"No joke," Kairi shows her her ribbons.
"Wow, you're pretty skilled to win those," Kelly said. "What's your secret?"
"No secret. Just did what came naturally," Kairi said.
"Wow! Hey, let me show you my ribbon!" Kelly said, showing Kairi the ribbon she has. "Like it?"
"I'm impressed," Kairi said.
"Where were heading after the marketplace?" Kelly asked.
"We were planning to head for a resturant that is said to be famous for their omelets," Kairi said, showing her the guidebook. Kelly takes it from her hands.
"No! You don't want to eat there!" Kelly said.
"Why not?" Sora asked. Kelly looked at the couple.
"It's just," Kelly paused, "that restaurant's gone downhill since they put it in the guide. It used to be very popular."
"So, they just got too big for their britches, huh?" Sora asked.
"That's one way of putting it," Kelly said. "You should both come with me. My mom's home cooking is way better than any resturant food you'd eat."
"We'll take you up on that offer," Kairi said.
Kelly led her new friends to her house which also happens to be a PokéBlock shop.
"Here we are! This is my houe," Kelly said.
"Your mom owns a PokéBlock shop? Cool," Sora said. They went inside and saw all sorts of PokéBlocks in many different colors. Some of them were in glass jars shaped like different Pokémon. Some of them were Pikachu while they were others that resembled a Spinda only without the spots.
"Look at all these different kinds of PokéBlock," Kairi said. "You and your mom made all these?"
"Sure have. The best in town," Kelly said. "Mom, I'm home! I have the berries you asked for!" Stepping out of the back is a strong looking woman wearing an apron and a bandana on her head.
"That's my girl, Kelly," Kelly's mom said. She walked over to her daughter.
"These are friends I met in the marke today. Is it okay that they join us for some lunch?" Kelly asked.
"I don't see why not. I've got the thing to fill you up," Kelly's mom said.
After several minutes, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu and Angel sat with Kelly as her mom had come in with a pot filled with freshly made stew.
"Wow, smells great," Sora said, digging in.
"It's the shop's famous PokéBlock stew," Kelly's mom said. Sora foze before he could take a bite, remembering his experince tasting Pokémon food for the first time. She than let's out a hearty laugh. "Ha! Gotcha! It's Lilycove stew."
"Made from all the freshest ingredients taken from the Lilycove Shore," Kelly said. "Mom's famous for that."
"I could believe that," Sora said.
"Pi, Pikachu!" Pikachu said.
Sora and Kairi took a spoonful and took a moment to savour the taste sensation.
"Tastes great. The broth is really rich. And I can b et it's pretty healthy too," Kairi said.
"There's plenty to go around, so eat up," Kelly said.
"Thanks," Kairi said.
"Enjoy kids, I'll be back in the shop," Kelly's mom said.
"Okay!" Kelly said.
"Thanks," Sora said.
"So Kairi, have you made your won PokéBlock before?" Kelley asked. Kairi giggled.
"I did. The thing is, we were going to buy some berries just so we can have some PokéBlocks and some Pokémon food for them to eat," Kairi explained.
"She a natural," Sora said.
"I'm sure mom will like the idea of you whipping up a batch and we could sell it in the shop," Kelly said.
"I don't know," Kairi said.
"Please? I want to see what you're capable of," Kelly pleaded. Not wanting to be rude, Kairi reluctantly agreed to provide some PokéBlock for Kelly and her mom. Kelly's mom was mighty impressed by how well she used the berry blenders. After waiting so patiently for the results, Kairi fed her newly made PokéBlock to Angel, Plusle, Minun, Altaria, Surkit, and Chimecho, liking how it turned out. She even fed it to Pikachu, Grovyle, Combusken, Marshtomp, Pelipper, and Spheal and they liked it.
"Gotta hand it to you, Kairi, you make PokéBlock like a pro! What's your secret?" Kelly's mom asked.
"No secret. Just did the basic stuff," Kairi answered. Kelly's mom laughed.
"Just like everyone else here, but none of them could a candle to me and my daughter, except for you," Kelly's mom said.
Kairi smiled at the kind compliment she received from Kelly's mom.
Sora had trained Pikachu, Grovyle, Combusken, Pelipper and Spheal for anything to come their way.
On the very next day, the Lilycove Pokémon Contest had officially begun. Vivian had taken the stage as Contesta, Mr. Suziko, and Phoebe had taken their seats as judges.
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the world famous Coordinator Contest held right here in beautiful Lilycove City! I am your host Vivian Meridian! And now allow me to introduce you to our panel of instinguish judges!" Vivian announced. "The head judge, Mr. Contesta! President of the Pokémon fan club, Mr. Suziko! And joining us once again as a judge, the Elite Four member, Phoebe!"
Sora sat with Pikachu and Angel and rooting for Kairi as always.
"I know you can do it, Kairi," Sora said.
"Pika, Pika," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"And here's what our winning Coordinator will be going home with," Vivian announced taking out the ribbon. "Isn't it beautiful? Our very own Lilycove Contest Ribbon! The best Coordinators comes from all over to participate in this amazing contest. You can be sure to see some amazing exploits, today."
"Such a beautiful ribbion, isn't it?" Kelly asked.
"It is," Kairi agreed. She turned to Kelly. "May the best Coordinator win." She held out her hand.
"Thanks Kairi. Give it everything you've got," Kelly said.
Kairi was the first Coordinator to take the stage. She had Altaria's Pokéball in hand and she took a deep breath. This was the fifth Contest she had ever been in and she knew it might be easy, so she had been in tighter situations in the Poké Maiden Tournament and she did okay.
"Now let's get this contest underway! Taking the stage first is our four time winner Kairi!" Vivian announced. A lot of Kairi's fans were cheering hard for Kairi, not caring about the photo taken of the two of them kissing.
"This is it. Better make it count," Kairi said in her thoughts. She threw her Pokéball. "Altaria! Take the stage!" The Pokéball opens and Altaria flies out with her fluffy wings wide out. "Begin with Dragon Breath!" Altaria fires Dragon Breath and it came out beautifully. "Now use Round!" Altaria began to sing her song, captivating the audience and judges.
"Kairi makes a wonderful start with Dragon Breath and follows up with a soothing Round!" Vivian announced.
"Now use Disarming Voice!" Kairi ordered. Altaria sends Disarming Voice and it sounded like a beautiful melody. The audience applauds as Kairi and Altaria had finished.
"What a splendid performance! Let's see what the judges has to say," Vivian announced. The judges gave her a perfect ten, bringing her total into thirty. "And once again, Kairi has scored a perfect ten!"
"Dragon Breath came out so beautifully. Best I have seen in my opinion," Contesta said.
"Simply remarkable," Mr. Suziko said.
"The use of Round and Disarming Voice is the best I have heard," Phoebe said, smiling.
"Way to go, Kairi," Sora said.
"Pika," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel said. They both held paws.
Other perfomances from the other corrdinators came and went. It was now Kelly's turn to enter the stage.
"Now it's time to bring out our next contestant, Kelly from right here in Lilycove City! I wonder what kind of performance she's going to give us today!" Vivan announced.
"Here we go now, Grumpid, it's time for us to showw the world what we're made of," Kelly said, taking out Grumpig's Pokéball. "Grumpig, let's do it!" She threw her Pokéball and her Grumpig bounces upon entry. The audience starts applauding.
"And Grumpig takes the stage with the use of its physical traits!" Vivian announced. Kelly takes out two of her PokéBlock dispensers.
"Now, it's a block party!" Kelly shouted, scattering PokéBlock all over the stage. Sora was caught off guard when he saw that.
"She's scattering PokéBlock all over the place? What does she have planned?" Sora asked.
"Go, Grumpig! Let's get Psychic!" Kelly ordered. Grumpig's eyes and pearls started glowing blue as Grumpig holds all the PokéBlock in the air.
"Grumpig is using Psychic to hold the PokéBlock in midair!" Vivian announced. Grumpig uses its telepathic attack to move the PokéBlock further up and spin them in a circle. "And now it's spinning the blocks in formation! They're showing everyone just what a Manipulate Pokémon can do!" Kairi is watching backstage and is impressed by Kelly's display.
"And no wonder Grumpig is called the Manipulate Pokémon," Kairi said.
"Now, juggle them, Grumpig!" Kelly called out. Grumpig, still using Psychic, starts juggling the PokéBlock around like they were balls. "Everyone clap your hands!" She started to clap her hands together. "Go! Go! Go! Go! Go! Go! Go! Go! Go!" Everyone in the audience were clapping along and chanting go with her. Vivian and the judges were clapping along as well. And so was Sora.
"What a crowd pleasing performance!" Vivian announced. "Everyone here and even the judges are clapping along with Kelly and her Grumpig's aerial display!"
"Kelly even got me into it!" Sora said, clapping his hands.
"Now finish this up with Bounce!" Kelly ordered. Grumpig bounces on its curly tail and chomps up the PokéBlock. Grumpig swallows the PokéBlock as Kelly and the manipulate Pokémon take a bow. "Well, that's it, folks!" Everyone applauded for Kelly. Kairi and all of the other Coordinators applauded along for Kelly as well.
"Way to go, Kelly!" Kairi said, clapping.
"Kelly and her Grumpig has managed to pull the whole audience here into her act! Very impressive!" Vivian announced. "Now, let's see what the judges thought!" Phoebe gave her a 9.5, Mr. Suziko gave her a 9.5, and Contesta gave her a 8.7, bringing the total to 27.7. "Wow! 27.7! Kelly and Grumpig are clear crowd favorites second to Kairi!"
"We may not have gotten to first place, but we pleased the crowd and that's what matters!" Kelly said.
"Pig!" Grumpig said.
Kelly calls Grumpig back inside its Pokéball and returns backstage.
"That was an amazing performance, Kelly. You and your Grumpig make it so easy," Kairi said.
"Thanks Kairi. I may be second to you, but I was happy to impress you," Kelly said.
"You did. Pleasing the crowd won me over," Kairi said.
The next Coordinator who happens to be a rock n roll musician. He had red-orange hair styled in a mohawk and had emerald eyes.
"Next in our contest is Ringo! Ringo hails from Wyndon of the Galar region!" Vivian announced. Ringo grinned.
"Time to rock n roll!" Ringo said taking out a Pokéball. Take the stage Toxtricity!" Ringo howls as he threw it. His Toxtricity came out. Sora knew this Toxtricity from different from the one Caeser had. This Toxtricity has a purple-colored body with a light-blue underbelly. It has two electric frills extending from head to neck. Its eyes are black with white sclera. A fin-like horn is located on Toxtricity's head with two smaller horns behind both sides of the eyes. The back has four small purple horns on light blue spots. Four fused organs protrude on its chest. A crescent-shaped body parts with seven spikes is located on the lower half of its body. The wrists have four spikes each. The legs each have three light blue stripes. The feet and hands have a light blue underside each.
"Could it be?" Sora asked. He took out his Pokédex and scanned the Pokémon.

This short-tempered and aggressive Pokémon chugs stagnant water to absorb any toxins it might contain. When this Pokémon sounds as if it's strumming a guitar, it's actually clawing at the protrusions on its chest to generate electricity.
"First an Amped Form and now a Low Key Form. Let's see how this dude fairs," Sora said, putting his Pokédex away. "Pika," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Alright Toxtricity! Rock out with Overdrive!" Ringo shouted. "OW!" Toxtricity forms a guitar made of pure electricity and starts rocking out. Music starts playing an extreme song.
"Ringo is really into it and so is his Toxtricity!I never seen a Toxtricity before and it's even more of a rocker than I thought!" Vivian announced.
"Not really into rock n roll, but I have to admit, this is too good to dislike," Contesta said.
"Wrap it up with your solo!" Ringo called out. Toxtricity wraps it up with giving it off an epic guitar solo. Some of the audience got into the tune. Sora was even impressed by the performance.
"Gotta admit, that was awesome!" Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel added.
Once Ringo and his Toxtricity hadd finished Toxtricity did a stance and the guitar had vanished.
"That was quite a solo! Let's see how it did well with the judges," Vivian announced. Contesta gave him a 9.5, Mr. Suziko gave him a 8.5, and Phoebe gave him a 8, bringing the toatl to 26. "And Ringo has earned 26 points!" The crowd cheers for the rocking Coordinator. "And now with the first round completed, let's look at our winning Coordinators! The scors are in and the eight who will go on in the second round!" Kairi, Kelly, Ringo, and five other Coordinators have made it in the second round. "Now, the computer will randomly pair the remaining contestants! Keep your eyes on the screen, because this is the crucial part of the contest." The computer had finished with the results. "And the pair ups have been made! Which of four Coordinators will be moving on to the next round?" Kairi, Kelly, Ringo, and a fourth Coordinator had made it the finals. Kairi is up against Ringo an Kelly is against the fourth Coordinator. "And now these four Coordinators have raged on through the semi-finals, and made it to the finals! The first round of the finals shall be Kairi against Ringo! Let the battle begin!" The clock begins running.
"Go! Altaria!" Kairi called out and the humming Pokémon came flying out. Ringo took out his Pokéball and threw it.
"Take the stage, Toxtricity! OOH!" Ringo shouted and Toxtricity came out rocking out. "Toxtricity! Start things up with your Thunder Punch!" Toxtricity came at Altaria with a Thunder Punch!
"Dodge it, Altaria!" Kairi called out. Altaria flies and avoids Toxtricity's Thunder Punch. Ringo loses some points.
"Toxtricity starts up with Thunder Punch and Altaria avoids Toxtricity's Thunder Punch!" Vivian announced.
"Toxtricity! Use Acid Spray!" Ringo ordered. Toxtricity fires acid from its mouth.
"Try not to get hit!" Kairi called out. Altaria flies out of the way of Toxtricity's Acid Spray.
"Don't let it get away! Follow Altaria with Acid Spray!" Ringo ordered. Toxtricity follows Altaria's movements while firing Acid Spray.
"Toxtricity follows Altaria while firing Acid Spray! Ringo doesn't plan on letting Kairi get the upper hand!" Vivian announced. Toxtricity manages to land a hit on Altaria, making Kairi lose some points. "And Acid Spray lands a hit!"
"Not bad, Ringo! I have some tricks too! Altaria! Use Dragon Breath!" Kairi ordered. Altaria fires Dragon Breath and it struck the punk Pokémon. Ringo loses a huge sum of points.
"And Ringo loses a chunk of his points! Can he make a comeback before time runs out?" Vivian asked. The clock reads three minutes and twenty-five seconds.
"Toxtricity! Overdrive!" Ringo ordered. Toxtricity starts to rock out and it struck Altaria, making Kairi lose almost the same amount RIngo had lost.
"And now it's Kairi's points who are in the gutter!" Vivian announced.
"Altaria! Round!" Kairi ordered. Altaria sang her song and the sound of her voice cancels out the punk Pokémon's music and it struck Toxtricity on the spot and it knocks it out.
"And Toxtricity is unable to battle! Kairi wins the battle and will be moving on in the final round!" Vivian announced as the audience applauds for her.
"Way to go, Kairi! I knew you could do it!" Sora said.
"Eevee!" Angel said.
"Pika!" Pikachu said.
Meanwhile, over to Genghis and Kahnnie, they continued their search for Jessie and James. They sent out their Fearow to search the skies for them.
"Anything, Fearow?" Genghis asked. Fearow shook its head. "Good try."
"Where could they be?" Kahnnie asked.
"I don't even know where to start looking to be honest. We should start with the nearest town and see if there might be some clues," Genghis said.
"It's worth a shot," Kahnnie agreed.
The two Team Rocket members set off to the closest town to find Jessie and James.
Back at the Lilycove Pokémon Contest, Kelly's Grumpig had bested its opponent with ease.
"And that concludes the second round of the finals! Now Kelly will be dishing it out with Kairi in the final round which will take place in a few minutes!" Vivian announced. Kairi and Kelly entered the battlefield on the stage.
"Hey Kairi! Don't go easy on just because we're friends. I won't," Kelly said.
"You'll have it, Kelly. Just be careful what you asked for," Kairi said. Both shook hands.
"What you're seeing is a display of good sportsmanship!Only one of them is going to go home with the ribbon. It'll either Kairi whom has four ribbions or the local girl Kelly!"Vivian announced. Sora, Pikachu, and Angel were cheering hard for Kairi to win the contest.
"Get her, Kairi," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Let the battle begin!" Vivian called out. Kairi and Kelly each took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Altaria!" Kairi called out and Altaria takes flight in the air.
"Go! Grumpig!" Kelly shouted as her Grumpig comes out to battle Kairi's Altaria. "Iron Tail!" Grumpig bounces and comes at Altaria with Iron Tail.
"Altaria! Dodge it!" Kairi called out. Altaria flies further up and Grumpig's attack misses.Kelly loses some sum of points.
"A beautiful dodge by Altaria! That'll cost Kelly some points!" Vivian announced.
"Not bad, Kairi," Kelly said.
"Altaria! Dragon Breath!" Kairi ordered. Altaria fires Dragon Breath at the manipulate Pokémon, but Kelly had an ace up her sleeve.
"Grumpig! Psychic! Let's go!" Kelly ordered. Grumpig uses Psychic to manipulate Altaria's Dragon Breath and turned into a dragon's head.
"Grumpig uses Psychic to block Altaria's attack and send it right back!" Vivian announced.
"Altaria! Peck!" Kairi ordered. Altaria pecks at her own Dragon Breath and cancels out the attack.
"Altaria uses Peck to cancel out Dragon Breath since Dragon Type Pokémon are vulnerable to their own Types!" Vivian announced.
"Now, use Psychic directly on Altaria! Go!" Kelly ordered. Grumpig uses Psychic to put the humming Pokémon in a strong hold. Kairi was losing some more points in Grumpig's Psychic.
"Grumpig now has Altaria in a strong Psychic hold and Kairi has lost a huge sum of points as time is running out!" Vivian announced.
"Come on, Kairi! Hang in there!" Sora called out.
"Good job, Grumpig! Just keep doing it!" Kelly said.
"Gotta think fast. Can't use Dragon Breath again because she'll just send it back at me," Kairi said in her thoughts. She then got an idea. "Wait a minute! That's it! I can use that against her! I just hope it works."
"Now it's time to finish you off, Kairi! Use Bounce, Grumpig!" Kelly ordered. Grumpig bounces on its curly tail and heads right towards Altaria. Sora, Pikachu, and Angel could only watch helplessly.
"Oh man, it'll be over for Kairi if Bounce hits!" Sora exclaimed, gritting his teeth.
"Altaria! Dragon Breath now!" Kairi ordered.
"Nice try, Kairi. Grumpig!" Kelly called out. Grumpig uses PSychic to move Altaria's head upwards. "Psychic will just send it right back at you!" Kairi could only grin.
"And that's what I have in mind," Kairi said.
"What?" Kelly asked. She wondered what Kairi has up her sleeve.
"Altaria! Aim Dragon Breath on the ceiling!" Kairi ordered. Altaria aim Dragon Breath straight up the ceiling, causing some dragonish embers to rain down and strike at Grumpig. Kelly loses even more points than Kairi has.
"What an amazing change in strategy! Altaris is bouncing its Dragon Breath off the ceiling and down onto Grumpig!" Vivian announced.
"Oh, Grumpig!" Kelly gasped.
"I knew you would bounce back, Kairi! That's my girl!" Sora called out.
"Pika, Pika!" Pikachu said, spinning Angel in his arms.
"Eevee!" Angel cheered.
As Dragon Breath continues o rain down, Grumpig loses control of Psychic and starts falling.
"Grumpig! No!" Kelly gasped, fearing for Grumpig's safety.
"Help Grumpig, Altaria!" Kairi called out. Altaria flies and safely lands Grumpig down to the ground as time runs out.
"And talking about a safe landing! And right at the last minute no less! The clear winner of the Lilycove Contest is Altaria and Kairi!" Vivian announced. THe crowd cheers hard for Kairi had won the contest and now she has all she needed to qualify for the Grand Festival. Sora was very proud of Kairi because most trainers would have finished the opponent off while at a disadvantage, but not Kairi, because she was way better than that. And that is the many reasons Sora loves Kairi. THe judges were even impressed.
"Looking out for your fellow Pokémon is more important than winning a match," Phoebe said.
"Simply remarkable," Mr. Suziko commented.
"That's the very spirit we're looking for, not just in Pokémon Contests, but in the Pokémon world in general!" Contesta stated.
"There you have it, folks! A unanimous decision from our judges! Now, it is our pleasure on behlaf of the Contest Committee to present the Lilycove Ribbion to you, Kairi and Altaria, the winners of this year's Lilycove Pokémon Contest! And now Kairi has earned her five ribbons to qualify to participate into the Hoenn region's Grand Festival! Congratulations!" Vivian announced. The crowd applauds as Kairi has accepted her fifth and final ribbon.
"Thank you," Kairi said, smiling.
Now Kairi has what she needed, all that remains is for Sora to earn his two remaining Gym battles in order to enter the Hoenn Pokémon League in Mossdeep City. Sora had to work hard in order to reach his goal. Many more adventures and battle will soon follow!
