Episode 256: Judgement Day
It was the very next morning after Kairi had won her fifth and final ribbon and had earned her ticket to enter the Hoenn region's Grand Festival. Now, the focus was heading towards Mossdeep City for Sora to earn his final two Hoenn Gym Badges, but they ended up rushing since they both ended up sleeping in.
"Man, I can't believe we overslept!" Sora exclaimed.
"Pika!" Pikachu said.
"Our fault for staying up all night and celebrating!" Kairi stated.
"Eevee!" Angel said.
Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel saw there was one ship remaining and they knew there wouldn't be another one until the very next day, but they couldn't afford to wait.
"I don't think that one goes to Mossdeep City, Sora," Kairi told her boyfriend.
"Any ship is better than no ship! Besides, we need to get off today!" Sora said. They boarded the ship and they panted having to get on board. "Made it!"
"Good thing," Kairi said. "Where does the ship go to if it doesn't go to Mossdeep City?"
"Maybe we should ask someone on board," Sora said. The couple looked around for anyone who may work on the ship only too spot a sailor with a Machoke. "Excuse me, but where does this ship head off to?"
"This ship is heading for Bomba Island," the sailor replied.
"Bamba Island?" Kairi asked.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"And when does the ship going to Mossdeep CIty from Bamba Island come in?" Sora asked.
"There's no ship coming from or going to Mossdeep CIty. Your best bet is to head from one island to the next if you wanna reach there," the sailor explained. Sora sighed.
"Well, if we wanna go to Mossdeep City, then, we'll do island hopping," Sora said.
"Yeah, I have five ribbons, so I'm in no hurry. Also, I would like to see what islands are here," Kairi said. Sora smiled, and he had to admit he was curious about the islands around the Hoenn region. Just when they were enjoying their cruise they're greeted by a familiar face.
"Well, hello there," Phoebe greeted. They turned to see the Ghost Type memeber of the Hoenn Elite Four.
"Phoebe?!" Sora and Kairi exclaimed.
"You were one of the judges back at the Lilycove contest. What are you doing here?" Sora asked.
"Heading for Bamba Island," Phoebe said. "I never would have thought I would be bumping into you two on this ship."
"Same here," Kairi said. "Why are you heading there, if you don't mind me asking?"
"Just meeting up with Glacia. She told me she was heading there to help instruct a new batch of referees. Are you heading there for the same reason, Kairi?" Phoebe asked.
"Not exactly. We only got on because this was the last ship for the day and we decided to explore a bit before we get to Mossdeep City," Kairi said. Phoebe looked over to Sora.
"I see. I think I saw you a couple of times. Who are you?" Phoebe asked.
"My name is Sora. I'm Kairi's boyfriend," Sora said.
"I thought you were since seeing you. Kairi must be a lucky girl to have a supportive boyfriend like you. The world would be a much better place if all boys were just as considerate as you," Phoebe said. Sora couldn't help but blush.
"Thanks," Sora said.
"Say, how about I invite you both as my guests?" Phoebe offered.
"Thanks, Phoebe. We would appreciate it," Sora said.
"Pika, Pika," Pikachu said.
"Very much," Kairi added.
"Eevee," Angel said.
They cruised towards the islands in a couple of hours. In the mean time, Sora exchanged Pelipper and Spheal for Duskull and Shuppet while Kairi exchanged Altaria and Chimecho for Roselia and Togedemaru. Once they had arrived on the island they departed off of it.
"And here we are, Bamba Island," Phoebe said. Upon departing, they spotted an Ivysaur, a Charmeleon, a Wartortle carrying some boxes.
"Now there are some familiar Pokémon. An Ivysaur, a Charmeleon, and a Wartortle," Sora said.
"Kinda take us back doesn't it?" Kairi asked her boyfriend. Sora knew she was right because he remembered when his Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle evolved all at the same time during his triple battle with Tai. The memories went to when Charmeleon evolved into a Charizard when Aerodactyl had him in his claws. Ivy saur into Venusaur when battling Team Rocket defending the newly evolved Ivysaur from them. And right to the battle with a woman on the beach when his Wartortle evolved iinto a Blastoise against a Gyarados.
"It kida does," Sora agreed. "I wonder how they're doing," Sora said.
"Me too," Kairi said.
"Guys, wait up!" A young man called out to his three Pokémon. He tripped and dropped some boxes. "Oh, not again." Sora and Kairi went up to him.
"Let us help you out, man," Sora offered.
"It'll be lot easier that way," Kairi added.
"Thanks," the young man said. Sora and Kairi picked up the boxes. "Say, aren't you two new students here at the Institute For Pokémon Battle Referee Training?"
"No, they're with me as my guests," Phoebe said, walking up.
"Wait a minute! You're Phoebe of the Hoenn region's Elite Four, aren't you?" The young man asked.
"I am," Phoebe answered. :Aren't you one of the students here?"
"Y-Y-Yes I am," the young man answered. "The name's Jimmy."
"Nice to meet you, Jimmy. I'm Sora," Sora introduced himself.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"And I'm Kairi. And this is my Eevee Angel," Kairi introduced herself and her Pokémon.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Noce to meet you. If you're not here as new students, then what brings you to Bamba Island?" Jimmy asked.
"We were heading for Mossdeep CIty for a Gym battle. I only need to earn two more Gym Badges," Sora said, showing him his badges.
"Wow, only six Gym Badges. Gotta say, I am impressed," Jimmy said, before turning to Ivysaur, Charmeleon, and Wartortle. "You think that's impressive?" The three evolved Starter Pokémon all nodded.
"Are all three of those yours?" Kairi asked.
"Yes they are. And they're great Pokémon too!" Jimmy said.
"They have to be. You raised them very well," Phoebe said.
"So, what's the deal of this place?" Sora asked.
"You see, the Institute For Pokémon Battle Referee Training is the only school there is. I just figured you two were trying to get in there too," Jimmy said. They walked to the training grounds and placed the boxes down.
"Where is the instructor here?" Phoebe asked.
"Right over there," Jimmy said, pointing to a woman wearing an intructor's uniform. She was blowing her whistle to test the timing of her students. "Professor Sarina, I have all those packages you asked for!" She turned to face him.
"Thanks Jimmy!" Professor Sarina said. She noticed Phoebe and the couple with her. "Oh, Phoebe, so glad that you could come here. And who are they?"
"This is Sora and Kairi. They're here as my guests. I hope you don't mind," Phoebe said.
"Not at all," Professor Sarina said. "They're welcome here."
"Has Glacia arrived yet?" Phoebe asked.
"She did. She arrived here just about a few hours ago. She's waiting for you inside our building," Professor Sarina said.
"Then, I shouldn't keep her waiting," Phoebe said. "I won't be long, you two. Feel free to have a look around if you like."
"Thanks," Sora said. Professor Sarina looked right at Sora and Kairi.
"I take it that you're Pokémon trainers, right?" Professor Sarina asked.
"That's right," Kairi said.
"Say, would you be helping out Phoebe and Glacia out with our students?" Professor Sarina asked.
"Um," Sora and Kairi both said at once.
"Pi," Pikachu said.
"Vee," Angel said.
After a few minutes, Glacia and Phoebe had stepped out to challenge Sora and Kairi to a battle. First it was Sora against Phoebe.
"To begin today's lesson, we'll have a hands-on ecperience with a real Pokémon battle! The first shall be Phoebe of the Elite Four against Sora! Now Jimmy, won't you lead us off?" Jimmy was nervous.
"Oh, right," Jimmy said nervously. "The battle between Sora and Phoebe is about to begin! Both trainers will be using one Pokémon each and the battle is over if either Pokémon is unable to keep going." Professor Sarina was impressed that he got it down, but noticed how nervous he was. "Sora, Phoebe, are you ready?"
"Yes," Sora and Phoebe said.
"Then choose your Pokémon and get started!" Jimmy called out. Both Sora and Phoebe each took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Dusknoir!" Phoebe called out. The Pokéball opens and out comes a ghostly Pokémon with a semi-humanoid appearance. It has a light gray head with a single red eye, crown like protrusions around its neck and a yellow antenna on top of its head. Its body is covered with gold bands: two bands on each of its arms and one band wrapped around its head. It's stomach has a gold band in a zigzag pattern and two eye-like patterns, forming a face.
"Go! Duskull!" Sora called out and Duskull came out. Duskull glares at the large Pokémon. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned the Pokémon.
Dusknoir, the Gripper Pokémon
The evolved form of Dusclops
Type: Ghost
Dusknoir is a feared Pokémon that is said to travel to worlds unknown. The antenna on its head captures radio waves from the world of spirits and command it to take people, Pokémon, and other creatures there.
"I know Dusclops is going to be a tough one, especially when it belongs to a member of the Elite Four. I'm gonna have to do my best against her," Sora said in his thoughts.
"Duscnoir! Use Fire Punch!" Phoebe ordered. Dusknoir slowly moves towards Duskull to deliever a fiery punch.
"Duskull! Use Night Shade!" Sora ordered. Duskull fires Night Shade and it struck Dusnoir hard. "Now use Shadow Ball!" Duskull fires Shadow Ball and struck Dusknoir, but none of his attacks landed a hit and Dusknoir lands a Fire Punch onto the requiem Pokémon. Duskull goes down, but not he wasn't out. Duskull glares right at Dusnoir and started to evolve. Duskull evolved into a Dusclops. "Wow! Dusclops!" The newly evolved Dusclops beamed.
"Wow, your Duskull evolved right in the middle of our battle. Let's see how well it'll do against my Dusknoir. Use Hex!" Phoebe ordered. Dusnoir forms Hex and sends it right atthe cyclops-like Pokémon.
"Dusclops! Use Shadow Punch!" Sora ordered. Dusclops lands a Shadow Punch onto his evolved form and landed a hit. "Now use Shadow Ball!"
"Dusknoir! You use Hex!" Phoebe ordered. Dusknoir forms Hex once again and sends it right at Dusclops. Dusknoir's Hex cuts through Shadow Ball and lands a hit, earning a knockout. Jimmy just stood there as Professor Sarina notices.
"Jimmy! Make the call!" Professor Sarina told her student.
"Huh? Right! Dusclops is unable to battle! Dusknoir wins! The victory goes to Phoebe!" Jimmy announced.
"Excellent job as always, Dusknoir," Phoebe praised her Pokémon.
"Noir," Dusknoir said.
Sora helps Dusclops up in his feet.
"You okay, Dusclops?" Sora asked his newly evolved Pokémon.
"Clops," Dusclops replied sadly.
"Hey, don't feel bad about losing. You'll do better next time, I promise," Sora said. Dusclops beamed at Sora's kind words. Kairi went up to her boyfriend.
"You did your best, Sora," Kairi told her boyfriend.
"Yeah. I knew it was gonna be hard, but there's no shame losing to her," Sora said. Phoebe walked up to Sora.
"I would say the same if I had lost to you, Sora," Phoebe said. "You have shown me that you care deeply about your Pokémon when you went to your Dusclops's side. Your concern for your Pokémon's well-being is far more important than winning any match."
"Thanks Phoebe," Sora said, shaking Phoebe's hand.
"Oh, and one more thing," Phoebe said, taking out a cloth being a dark purple cloth to Sora. "You can keep this."
"What is it?" Sora asked.
"It's a Reaper Cloth. When Dusclops is holding one, it'll evolve into a Dusknoir. That's if you choose to," Phoebe said. Sora accepts the cloth.
"Thanks Phoebe," Sora said. He looked right at Kairi. "Your turn, Kairi."
"Will you still love me even if I don't win?" Kairi asked.
"Always," Sora said. Kairi smiled and got into position against Glacia.
"Okay Jimmy. You know what to do, don't you?" Professor Sarina asked.
"Right. The battle between Glacia and Kairi will now begin! This will be a single battle and the battle is over when either Pokémon is unable to battle! Choose your Pokémon and let the battle begin!" Jimmy announced, feeling nervous. Both Kairi and Glacia each took out one Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Walrein!" Glacia called out.
"Take the stage, Roselia!" Kairi called out and Roselia makes an elegant entrance.
"A stunning entrance. And judging how your Roselia looks, you have raised it well," Glacia said.
"Thanks," Kairi said.
"You may make the first move," Glacia said.
"Roselia! Use Magical Leaf!" Kairi ordered. Roselia fires Magical Leaf and they head for the walrus-like Pokémon. Glacia wasn't worried one bit.
"Walrein! Blizzard!" Glacia ordered. Walrein fires Blizzard and freezes the leaves and they shatter into many icicle pieces upon making contact with the ground. "Now use Ice Beam!" Walrein fires Ice Beam and struck Roselia. The thorn Pokémon was taken out with just one hit. Roselia fell to the ground beaten. Jimmy was taking long to make the announcement again and it was irritating Professor Sarina.
"Jimmy! Make the announcement!" Professor Sarina told him.
"Sorry! Roselia is unable to battle! Walrein wins! The match goes to Glacia!" Jimmy announced.
"Excellent job, Walrein," Glacia said, petting her Pokémon.
"Rein," Walrein said.
"Selia," Roselia said sadly. Kairi picked her up in her arms.
"Don't be sad, Roselia. You're still amazing even if you don't win," Kairi said.
"Rose," Roselia said. Glacia walked up to Kairi and smiled.
"Gotta hand it to you, Glacia, congratulations on your win," Kairi said.
"Thank you, Kairi. You're an excellent Coordnator and the way your Magical Leaf came out was beautiful," Glacia said.
"Thank you," Kairi said.
The couple didn't care that they lost to Phoebe and Glacia, but they did notice how down Jimmy was being.
"How could I be so off on the timing? Especially when I knew that too?" Jimmy asked himself. His three Pokémon all shared his saddness.
"You thinking something is up with him?" Kairi asked.
"Looks like it," Sora said. "We should have a word with him later tonight."
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
Over to Genghis and Kahnnie, they search all over for Jessie and James and so far they found nothing on them.
"They have got to be around here somewhere. I don't get what we're doing wrong!" Genghis exclaimed.
"Me either," Kahnnie said. She spotted some Team Aqua members. "Wait a minute! We can blend in with them! Jessie and James are keeping tabs on them!"
"Good thinking, Kahnnie!" Genghis said. He and Kahnnie snucked behind a couple of members and grabbed them from behind. They came out wearing their uniforms, leaving the members of Team Aqua in their undies. They boarded the submarine and set off deep in the ocean.
Back on Bamba Island, Jimmy was sitting on a stump with Ivysaur, Charmeleon, and Wartortle, thinking about the earlier afternoon. He thought back about the two battles with Sora and Kairi.

"You made your final decisions too late, Jimmy," Professor Sarina scolded him.
"I know, I'm sorry," Jimmy apologized.
"You should have known that those Pokémon were beaten and made the call sooner and known they both lost because of lack of experience and Type weakness. Every good referee has to consider timing is the most essential thing when being a referee!" Professor Sarina said.
"I know. And I'm sorry. I promise I'll do better next time," Jimmy said.
"That's what you always say, but you never come through on that promise. I honestly don't know what to do with you," Professor Sarina said.

He was sulking along with hs three Pokémon. He sighs. Sora, Kairi, Pikahu, and Angel all went to him.
"You okay, Jimmy?" Sora asked. He turned to see Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel standing behind him.
"Oh hi," Jimmy said. "How long were you standing there?"
"We just got here and we thought we should have a word with you," Sora said.
"Hi guys. What brings you here?" Jimmy asked.
"We thought we should talk," Sora said. "Something on your mind?"
"I was just thinking about earlier this afternoon. I don't get how I could be late making a final decision like that," Jimmy said.
"These sort of things happens, Jimmy. You shouldn't expect to get things right the first time. I know that from experience," Sora said.
"Pika," Pikachu said.
"Everyone makes mistakes. We all learn from them," Kairi said.
"I made so more mistakes than I can even count. Even when I used to be a Pokémon trainer," Jimmy said.
"Wait a minute! You used to be a trainer?" Sora asked.
"I did," Jimmy answered.
"Then, which was your first?" Kairi asked.
"I had Wartortle as a Squirtle when I first began as a trainer. After a while, Squirtle evolved into a Wartortle," Jimmy said.
"Then, how did you meet your Ivysaur and Charmeleon?" Sora asked.
"It's like this," Jimmy started. "It wasn't long after my Squirtle evolved into a Wartortle that the two of us got lost in a forest that we were down to our last peanut butter and jelly sandwich that we tried to have the other eat it, but the sandwich ended up being eaten by Ivysaur. Ivysaur was so grateful for the sandwich, he led us out of the woods."
"Wow, your first catch," Sora said. "And without even trying."
"How did you meet your Charmeleon?" Kairi asked.
"Well, it's pretty funny. I fell in a lake one day and both Wartortle and Ivysaur pulled me out when a gold colored Magikarp fell out my shirt. Passing by was an old man who said he was a Magikarp fanatic and he wanted me to trade the Magikarp I caught for his Charmeleon," Jimmy explained.
"Wow. You traded a Shiny Magikarp for this Charmeleon?" Sora said.
"Sure did," Jimmy said. "And it's been the four of us ever since. We traveled from town to town and we've all kinds of sights. But the problem is, I never won a single match." Sora raised a brow.
"Wait a minute! You never won a battle?! Not even one?" Sora asked.
"Nope," Jimmy said, shaking his head, "but I got this." He took out a Cascade Badge and showed it to the couple.
"That's a Cascade Badge. That means you were at the Cerulean City Gym," Kairi pointed out.
"If you never won a battle, then how did you get your hands on that?" Sora asked.
"Well, I was passing by Cerulean City at the time when a girl named Daisy approached me and asked me to clean the pool for them since she and her sisters are doing a water show on the next day, so I said yes and the four of us got to work cleaning the pool. Once we were done cleaning it, Daisy came up to me and handed the Cascade Badge to me. The real Gym Leader Misty was away at the time," Jimmy explained. Sora and Kairi figured it was when they were with the Alolan nine when Sora and Lana competed in the Whirl Cup.
"Is that the only Gym Badge you got?" Sora asked.
"It is," Jimmy said, putting his badge away. "I guess you can say it was all luck."
"Why did you decide to become a referee?" Kairi asked.
"Me arriving here was purely an accident. The four of us were all in Lilycove City just a month ago when we were sleeping in a boat at the local dock when the rope holding the boat came undone and we unknowingly sailed to Bamba Island," Jimmy said.
"Wow, that is something," Sora said.
"It is," Kairi said.
"Maybe so, but I kept making mistakes. And the way I'm going is I could never make a good trainer or referee," Jimmy said.
"You may be right," Professor Sarina spoke out. Everyone all turned to see her behind them.
"Professor Sarina?" Jimmy asked, surprised.
"But it's not true above all things. You've got a first-class heart. It's as big and giving as I have ever seen," Professor Sarina said.
"Yeah?" Jimmy asked.
"She's right. That's important too. Your Pokémon saw it too and that's why they stuck with you. You and your Pokémon are a real team," Sora said.
"You mean it, Sora?" Jimmy asked.
"I know it," Sora said.
"He's right. Wartortle, Ivysaur, and Charmeleon all believe in you and you believe in them just like you should," Kairi said.
"So, how about you put that faith to the test in a battle?" Sora suggested.
"A battle? I don't know," Jimmy said.
"Not taking no for an answer. You and me. Three of mine against all three of yours. So, how about it?" Sora asked. Jimmy turned to his three Pokémon.
"Are you three up for it?" Jimmy asked. Wartortle, Ivysaur, and Charmeleon all nodded. "Then I have faith in you. Okay, I accept!"
"Great!" Sora said. "So, let's make this on equal terms." Sora took out three Pokéballs and threw them up, letting out Grovyle, Combusken, and Marshtomp. Both trainers got into position for battle as Professor Sarina is acting as referee.
"This will be a three-on-three Pokémon battle! The battle is over when either trainer wins two out of three! Are you ready?" Professor Sarina asked.
"Yes!" Sora and Jimmy said.
"Then, let the battle begin!" Professor Sarina called out.
"You're first, Ivysaur!" Jimmy said as Ivysaur enters the battlefield.
"Then, I'm sending you in, Combusken!" Sora called out as Combusken enters the battlefield. "Combusken! FIre Punch!" Combusken came at Ivysaur to land a Fire Punch.
"Dodge and use Vine Whip!" Jimmy ordered. Ivysaur sends out vines and smacks Combusken hard, canceling out Fire Punch. "Now use Razor Leaf!" Ivysaur fires Razor Leaf to strike at the young fowl Pokémon.
"Dodge by using Quick Attack!" Sora ordered. Combusken ran to avoid the leaves. Ivysaur kept firing Razor Leaf right a Combusken.
"Keep up that Razor Leaf!" Jimmy called out. Ivysaur did keep up Razor Leaf. Combusken heads towards Ivysaur and lands a hit.
"Now, use Double Kick!" Sora ordered. Combusken gave Ivysaur a couple of kicks on the seed Pokémon. "Now use Fire Punch!" Combusken lands a burning punch onto Ivysaur and ends up in a knock out.
"Ivysaur is unable to battle! Combusken wins!" Professor Sarina announced.
"Good job, Combusken," Sora said as he and Combusken high-fived.
Ivysaur got up and walked over to Jimmy.
"You did good, Ivysaur," Jimmy said. He turned to Charmeleon. "You up for it, Charmeleon?"
"Charmeleon," Charmeleon nodded.
"Great! Go!" Jimmy said as his Charmeleon rushed to the battlefield. Sora turned to Marshtomp.
"Okay Marshtomp, your turn," Sora said. Marshtomp enters the battlefield.
"Charmeleon! Slash!" Jimmy ordered. Charmeleon came at Marshtomp to swipe its claws at the mud fish Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Water Gun!" Marshtomp avoids Charmeleon's claws and fired Water Gun and struck the flame Pokémon. Charmeleon got back on its feet. "Now use Mud Shot!" Marshtomp fires Mud Shot right at Charmeleon.
"Okay Charmeleon! Dodge and use Slash again!" Jimmy ordered. Charmeleon avoids Marshtomp's attack and swipes its claws and lands a successful hit onto Marshtomp and landing a critical hit. "Now use Flamethrower!" Charmeleon fires Flamethrower right in Marshtomp's face and fell to the ground, beaten.
"Marshtomp is unable to battle! Charmeleon wins!" Professor Sarina announced. Charmeleon went over to Jimmy and high-fived.
"Good work, Charmeleon," Jimmy praised. Marshtomp got back up.
"Don't sweat it. You did your best," Sora said. He turned to Grovyle. You're up, Grovyle," Sora said.
"Grovyle," Grovyle said. Jimmy turned to Wartortle.
"You're up now Wartortle," Jimmy said. Wartortle went up to the battlefield and glared at the wood gecko Pokémon. "Wartortle! Begin with Bite!" Wartortle comes at Grovyle to land a bite.
"Dodge and use Fury Cutter!" Sora ordered. Grovyle avoids Wartortle's attack and swipes at the turtle Pokémon with his claws. "Now use Bullet Seed!" Grovyle fires Bullet Seed right at Wartortle.
"Dodge it, Wartortle!" Jimmy ordered. Wartortle avoids Grovyle's attack.
"Keep firing Bullet Seed!" Sora ordered. Grovyle did keep firing Bullet Seed again and again and Wartortle kept avoiding Grovyle's Bullet Seed.
"Use Skull Bash!" Jimmy ordered. Wartortle lowered its head and ran towards Grovyle and landed a hit.
"Leaf Blade!" Sora ordered. Grovyle lands a Leaf Blade onto Wartortle, but it wasn't close to giving up.
"Wartortle! Use Water Gun!" Jimmy ordered. Wartortle fires Water Gun and lands a hit onto Groyvle. Professor Sarina could see how hard Jimmy was battling even he was at a Type disadventage the whole time and won against Sora's Marshtomp.
"Grovyle! Quick Attack!" Sora ordered. Grovyle dashes towards the turtle Pokémon and landed a hit. "Now use Leaf Blade!" Grovyle moved in to deliever a Leaf Blade, but Wartortle grabs the leaf with its hands and gave him a throw. Wartortle then started to evolve, surprising everyone. Jimmy especially was surprised. Wartortle had evolved into a Blastoise.
"You evolved!" Jimmy exclaimed.
"Blast," Blastoise said.
"You evolved for me," Jimmy said. Okay Blastoise! Hydro Pump!" Blastoise fires Hydro Pump right at Grovyle.
"Grovyle! Quick Attack!" Sora ordered. Grovyle uses Quick Attack and avoided Blastoise's Hydro Pump attack. "Now use Leaf Blade!" Grovyle extends his leaf and lands a hit onto the large turtle Pokémon and fell to the ground beaten.
"Blastoise is unable to battle! Grovyle wins! Sora wins the battle!" Professor Sarina announced. Jimmy wasn't surprised that he lost, but he wasn't ashamed of losing to Sora. He walked up to Sora.
"You were awesome, Sora. There's no shame in losing to you," Jimmy said.
"Thanks. You did good too, Jimmy," Sora said.
"What do you mean? I stunk," Jimmy said.
"No. You're even better than you think you are. You took down my Marshtomp with your Charmeleon, and that wasn't dumb luck," Sora said.
"He's right, Jimmy," Professor Sarina said. "As you two battled, I noticed how hard you battled. It was because you believed in your Pokémon they came through for you even if haven't won." Her expression changed from a smile to a stern expression. "But I think it'll be best that you took your leave of the institute." Jimmy was shocked as were Sora and Kairi.
"But why?" Sora asked.
"He was doing so well," Kairi said.
"Jimmy, as a student you have a lot of promise depite your many mistakes, but it's my personal opinion that you would make it better as a Pokémon trainer than a Pokémon bttle referee," Professor Sarina explained. Jimmy knew she was right and smiled.
"You're right. This battle just proved it for me. I'm going to start over again and come out as the best trainer I can be and discover my own destiny," Jimmy said.
"I know you will," Professor Sarina said.
Sora and Kairi were proud to witness greatness in the making. On the very next morning, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel were boarding a ship going to the next island.
"Thanks for having us," Sora said.
"We're happy that you came, but you sure you can't stay any longer?" Professor Sarina asked.
"We like to, but he has two more Gym Badges to earn," Kairi said.
"Good luck for your Gym battle, Sora. And Good luck at the Grand Festival, Kairi," Jimmy said.
"Thanks," Sora said.
"Take care!" Kairi added.
"Pika!" Pikachu said.
"Eevee!" Angel added.
Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel waved goodbye to Professor Sarina, Jimmy, and his Pokémon as they continued on their way to Mossdeep City, but decided to do some island hopping before getting there. What island adventures awaits them on the way? Just wait and see.
