Episode 259: The Evolutionary War
A few hours came and went since Kairi had gotten herself a new Luvdisc. They're joined by Tai, Kari, and their friends along with a girl named Amy. In addition, Joe was given a Happiny as a gift from Nurse Joy since she figured a Pokémon doctor in training would need an assistant. As they sailed off towards the ABC Islands, Sora exchanged Sharpedo and Sealeo for Grovyle and Combusken. A couple of Wailmer comes swimming by, giving them warm welcome.
"How far are we till we get to the ABC Islands?" Sora asked.
"We're almost there, actually. I'll be docking onto Island A since it's the only one with a Pokémon Center," the boat's captain said.
Just then, a bunch of kids riding on their Huntail were racing to the island. Two of the kids were very little and they were rowing by their little boats.
"Get out of my way!" One boy yelled riding on a Gorebyss.
"You're totally in my way!" A girl riding on a Huntail yelled.
"Gorebyss, coming through!" Another girl called out.
"Aren't those Huntail and Gorebyss?" Sora asked.
"Indeed. If I recall, they're the evolved forms of Clamperl," Izzy said.
"You mean, Clamperl has a branched evolution just like Eevee, Slowpoke, and Poliwhirl?" Mimi asked.
"Yes," Izzy said.
"The kids riding on the backs on those Gorebyss are from Island B and the kids riding on those Huntail are from Island C. They had this huge rivalry that was going on for many years," the captain explained.
"I don't know what big deal is, but I do know I caught a glimpse of one those when we were scuba diving yesterday," Sora said.
"Move it, girlie!" The first boy yelled, knocking the first girl off her Huntail.
"Hey! No fair!" The girl yelled. The boat goes by her and makes a stop.
"Are you okay?" Kari asked with concern.
"I'm fine. Huntail, let's go!" The girl said as her Huntail gets her back on its back. The girl gets back in the race.
"She seems okay," TK said.
"That's how it's been for as long I can remember. We're gonna dock onto Island A and you kids can head for the Pokémon Center," the captain said.
"Thanks," Sara said.
"I could relax at the Pokémon Center for a bit before checking out the other two islands," Yolei said.
Everyone docked onto shore only to meet with some more familiar faces. It was May, Max, along with Brendan who had arrived at the island right at the same time.
"Sora! Kairi!" Max exclaimed. May and Brendan turned to see them and they went up to them.
"Brendan!" Sora greeted.
"Hi May," Kairi greeted.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Eevee!" Angel added.
"Haven't seen you guys in a while. What brings you here?" Brendan asked.
"We're doing great. Kairi and I were on our way to Mossdeep City, but we're doing some island exploring before we do that," Sora said.
"What about you, May?" Kairi asked.
"Same as always," May said. She noticed the group that were with the couple. "So, who are they?"
"These are friends of ours," Kairi said.
"Good to know you guys. My name's Tai and this is my little sister Kari," Tai introduced.
"Nice to meet you," Kari said.
"I'm Matt and this is my little brother TK," Matt introduced.
"How's it going?" TK said.
"My name's Sara."
"I'm Izzy."
"I'm Mimi."
"My name's Joe."
"I'm Davis."
"My name's Ken."
"I'm Yolei."
"I'm Cody."
"And I'm Amy."
"Nice to meet you. My name's May, and this little kid is my little brother Max," May introduced.
"Nice to meet you," Max said.
"And I'm Brendan," Brendan introduced himself. He looked right at Sora.
"Got any Gym Badges yet?" Brendan asked.
"I got six so far. You?" Sora asked.
"I got me seven. Like you, I'm doing some exploring on these islands before heading for the next gym," Brendan said.
"Sounds like you're on your way," Sora said.
"Thanks," Brendan said. "So, how do you lot know Sora?"
Tai filled in Brendan, May, and Max in about how they met and Tai challenged Sora in a triple Pokémon battle and how Tai almost had him when his Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle all evolved at once and beat his Charzard and his two Dragonite. Brendan wasn't surprised to hear when Sora is in a corner, he made a bouncing comeback. Amy was amazed to hear how it turned out.
"There was no shame in losing to him. We even went at it again back at the PokéBrawl tournament and got whooped by that Darmanitan after taking out that Grapploct," Tai said.
"Gotta hand it to you, Sora, you really know how to come out on top," Brendan said.
"Yeah, but I didn't do it alone," Sora said.
"Um, I hate to interuppt our trip down memory lane, but shouldn't we go inside the Pokémon Center before we end up getting sunburned?" Mimi asked. Everyone realized she was right.
"You're right, Mimi. Let's get going," Sara seconded it. Before long the group headed on towards the Pokémon Center to relax a bit. As they entered the Pokémon Center, they're greeted by the Nurse Joy occupying it.
"Hello, everyone. Welcome to the Pokémon Center," Nurse Joy greeted.
"Good to be here," Sora said. Suddenly, a phone rings.
"Would you excuse me for a moment?" Nurse Joy asked.
"Sure," the group said. Nurse Joy went to answer the phone. She answers it and sees a woman on the screen.
"Hello, Pokémon Center," Nurse Joy greeted.
"Hi, this is Midori from Island B," Midori said.
"Hello, Midori. How is your Gorebyss doing this morning?" Nurse Joy asked.
"He's just fine, but it's my Corsola this time. I'm afraid she may have caught herself a bad cold," Midori said, holding up her Corsola. "Could I send her over and have you take a look?"
"Of course," Nurse Joy said. Midori calls Corsola into her Pokéball and sends her to the Pokémon Center's Pokéball teleporter. She takes the Pokéball. "Your Corsola arrived safe and sound, see?"
"That's good. I'll be by a little later and thanks," Midori said.
"Sure," Nurse Joy said, hanging up.
"You have your own Pokéball teleporter here as well as the other islands?" Cody asked.
"That's right. Island A is the only island with a Pokémon Center, so we've set up teleporters on Islands B and C. That way, if any Pokémon is sick they can sent here right away," Nurse Joy explained.
"Comes in handy instead of making the long trip from one island to another," Davis said.
"What did you say?!" A boy's voice roared out.
"You heard me!" A girl's voice roared back.
"What was that about?" Amy asked.
"Oh no, here we go again," Nurse Joy said.
"Gorebyss are much stronger and you know it!" The first boy yelled.
"You're crazy, Huntail are!" The first girl yelled.
"You can't compare the two!" Another girl said.
"Gorebyss are so super-strong, it's not even funny!" Another boy yelled. Nurse Joy came in with a stern look on her face.
"Everyone, quiet down this instant!" Nurse Joy scolded the kids. The kids all quieted down. "Now, everyone, take your seats!"
"Yes, ma'am," the kids all said, sitting down.
"It's those kids from before," Ken said.
"How do you figure that?" Brendan asked.
"We saw them racing on some Gorebyss and Huntail earlier and they were arguing over who are the strongest," Sora said.
"Just like they're doing now," Max said.
Nurse Joy approached her desk, still having her stern look.
"It's study time and I want quiet," Nurse Joy said.
"Yes, ma'am," the kids said, getting to their studies.
"Wow, not only a nurse, but a teacher too?" Sora asked.
"Yes. This is a school as well as a Pokémon Center. The children from Islands B and C come here everyday," Nurse Joy said.She sets her attentions onto her students. "Students, our next class will take place at the outdoor swimming pool."
"Yay!" The kids all cheered.
"At least that's something that they can agree on," Sora sid.
"Yeah," Breandan agreed.
Later after class, Nurse Joy led the group to the outdoor swimming pool, but they were all curious about the fighting between the kids.
"We were told that there is a rivalry between the inahbitants between Islands B and C. Any idea why?" Matt asked.
"You see, a large number of Clamperl all live here on the ABC Islands. For some reason, the Clamperl living on Island B all evolve into Gorebyss and all of the Clamperl living on Island C evolve into Huntail," Nurse Joy explained. Izzy was skeptical about the whole thing. He knew something wasn't sitting right with him.
"So, why are they going at it like a Seviper and a Zangoose?" Brendan asked.
"Well, it's not just the kids, but it's the adults as well. They're always arguing which one is better, Gorebyss or Huntail," Nurse Joy said.
"If you ask me, it sounds like a pretty stupid thing to argue over," Yolei said.
"That kind of argument could go on forever," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"It looks like it won't end at anytime soon," Cody said.
"Hey, mister, which one do you think is better? Huntail is better, right?" A little girl asked.
"Gorebyss are way better," a little boy said.
"You gotta admit, Gorebyss are totally cool," another girl said.
"But Huntail are even stronger, right?" Another boy said.
In the pool, some Huntail and Gorebyss are swimming around Professor Birch who is laying on his back in the outdoor pool, playing with the Pokémon.
"Okay, I think both Pokémon are great!" Professor Birch said. The group approached the pool and saw him.
"Professor Birch?" Sora, Kairi, May, and Max asked.
"Dad?" Brendan questioned, seeing his father in the pool. Tai, Kari, and their friends all looked at him.
"Dad?" Tai asked surprised. Professor Birch turned to see the group with a smile.
"Sora, Kairi, Brendan, May, and Max! Good to see all of you again! And it looks like you have a good sum of friends with you," Professor Birch said.
"May, Max, and I just met them today, dad," Brendan said.
"Wait, you're Professor Birch's son?" Amy asked surprised.
"Yeah. He gave me my Treecko when I was just starting out on my Pokémon journey," Brendan said. "He also gave May her Torchic." Nurse Joy was surprised.
"Wait a minute! You mean, he's Professor Birch?" Nurse Joy asked.
"Thats right. And Brendan here is his son in case you missed it," Sora said.
"No way! I never heard his name before! I just thought he was just a nice guy who likes to play with Pokémon," Nurse Joy said. Professor Birch climbs out of the pool.
"I never expected to run into any of you," Professor Birch said. He turned to his son. "How have you been, son?"
"I'm doing good, dad. My Grovyle evolved into a Sceptile since the last time we saw each other," Brendan said.
"That's good," Professor Birch said, smiling.
"What brings you here, professor?" Max asked.
"I'm doing some research on Clamperl evolution," Professor Birch said.
"Have you found anything?" Max asked.
"Not a thing. So, I thought I would just play around with these Huntail and Gorebyss," Professor Birch said.
"That's what I thought. It didn't look like you were doing much research," Nurse Joy pointed out.
"But if I know Professor Birch, he might be doing some research while he's playing," May said. Professor Birch chuckled.
"Actually, I was just doing some playing," Professor Birch, making May lose her balance a bit. "But there is some truth in what you're saying, May. You can learn about Pokémon just by simply playing with them."
"Never thought of it that way," May said. The Hoenn Pokémon professor turned to the group with his son and his friends.
"So, who are they?" Professor Birch asked.
"If you let me, professor. These are friends of ours. These are Tai, Kari, Matt, TK, Sara, Izzy, Joe, Davis, Ken, Yolei, Cody, and this is Amy who we met yesterday," Sora said.
"A pleasure," Professor Birch said. He turned to the couple. "Say, Sora and Kairi, you wouldn't happen to catch yourselves a Clamperl, by any chance?"
"No," Sora said.
"Good, because I would like you to assist me in my research. In fact, all of you are welcome to assist if you like," Professor Birch offered.
"Sure thing, dad," Brendan said.
"I have been thinking about how Clamperl evolving and there's something not sitting well with me," Izzy said.
"And what's that?" Tai asked.
"For one thing, in order for Clamperl to evolve into a Huntail is one is holding a Deep Sea Tooth and for Gorebyss is the use of a Deep Sea Scale," Izzy stated.
"That is correct, Izzy," Professor Birch said. He pulled out two replicas of a tooth and a scale. "Here is a Deep Sea Tooth on my left, and a Deep Sea Scale on my right."
"The way we heard it is that the fact the Clamperl evolve into Gorebyss if they're on Island B and the Clamperl evolve into Huntail when they're on Island B," Ken said.
"Is that so?" Professor Birch asked.
"But what do those things have to do with evolving?" Max asked.
"That's what I'm gonna find out, Max," Professor Birch said. "So, before we depart for Island C, I would like to ask you to capture a Clamperl for each of you."
"Sure thing," Sora said.
"We will be happy to help out," Kairi said.
The group went to the beach to see a whole bunch of Clamperl laying in the sun. Sora got a Pokéball out as Kairi was going with Angel. Sora threw his Pokéball.
"Let's go, Mimikyu!" Sora called out as his Mimikyu comes out. Angel races out to the beach. Professor Birch was amazed to see a Mimikyu for the first time of his life.
"Aw, a Mimikyu. Such a rare sight," Professor Birch said.
"And I thought it was a Pikachu," one of the students said.
"Mimikyu! Shadow Claw!" Sora ordered. Mimikyu's shadowy claw came out from the head cover and swiped at a Clamperl.
"Angel! Headbutt!" Kairi ordered. Angel headbutted a Clamperl and it tumbled over. The Clamperl battling Mimikyu fires Water Gun as the Clamperl battling Angel did the same thing.
"Dodge!" Sora and Kairi called out. Both Pokémon dodges the attacks.
"Use Shadow Ball!" Sora ordered. Mimikyu fires Shadow Ball right at the clam-like Pokémon, but protected itself with Iron Defense.
"Use Swift!" Kairi ordered. Angel fires Swift and it struck the Clamperl she was battling, but blocked with Iron Defense as well. Sora turned to his girlfriend.
"Let's send them flying!" Sora suggested.
"Good idea!" Kairi agreed.
"Force them up from the bottom!" Sora and Kairi called out. Mimikyu uses Shadow Claw to lift up the Clamperl he was up against as Angel did the same thing with her Headbutt. Both Clamperl were flying through the air. Sora calls Mimikyu back as he got a Pokéball out and threw it right at the Clamperl he was battling. Kairi did the same thing and both Clamperl flows inside the Pokéballs, making them wobble around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéballs to confirm the catch. Sora's Pokédex starts buzzing asking the both of them if they want to keep their newly caught Clamperl. Sora and Kairi chose to keep them as Sora had sent over his Mimikyu while Kairi had sent over her Milotic.
"Good catch," Brendan complimented.
"Thanks," Sora said.
"Only because we had team work on our side," Kairi said.
"Good work, you two," Professor Birch said. "Now we should head for Island C."
The group returned to the boat they were on before since it was big enough to hold them all.
"Hey there, kids. Where to?" The captain asked.
"We would like to head for Island C for research purposes," Professor Birch said.
"Sure thing, prof. We'll be ready to set off whenever you're ready," the captain said. Just then, the little girl from before come running to the dock.
"Wait! Let me come with you!" The girl pleaded.
"Don't you have school to finish up?" Sora asked.
"School's over for the day. Also, I live on Island C," the girl said.
"That could be helpful since we could use a guide around the island," Professor Birch said. With that said, the captain sailed to Island C, not knowing that the little boy from before is rowing behind them. As they were on their way over to the island, Sora and Kairi were making up their minds on which one they want.
"Okay, Kairi, either a Huntail or a Gorebyss would be a cool Pokémon to have. I haven't decided on which one I want to evolve my Clamperl into yet. Have you, Kairi?" Sora asked.
"If it helps, Sora, I would rather have a Gorebyss since they look very pretty. What about you, Sora?" Kairi asked her boyfriend.
"Well, if you're having yourself a Gorebyss, I might as well go with Huntail. I was afraid you would want a Huntail instead of a Gorebyss and I would have ended up with a Gorebyss, oh no, I'm getting cross-eyed," Sora said. Kairi gave Sora a kiss on the cheek.
"Better?" Kairi asked.
"Much better. Thanks," Sora said.
"You're welcome," Kairi said.
They arrived onto Island C and entered the cave on the middle of the island. The girl introduced as Nancy led the group inside to the small waterfall flowing.
"My grandma always told me that if you brought a Clamperl in here then they will evolve into a Huntail, no problem," Nancy stated.
"No problem, huh?" Sora asked. He took out the Pokéball containing his newest Pokémon and looked right at Professor Birch. "Say professor, wouldn't it be okay if I try it?"
"Not at all," Professor Birch said. Sora tosses his Pokéball in the air.
"Come on out, Clamperl!" Sora called out. The Pokéball opens and his Clamperl comes on out. He turned to the little girl. "So, Nancy, how do I let my Clamperl evolve?"
"My grandma always said to place Clamperl in the water," Nancy said.
"Okay, here goes," Sora said. He places the clam-like Pokémon in the water and his Clamperl started to evolve. His Clamperl had evolved into a Huntail. "It worked!"
"Look at that," Kari said.
"Sora's Clamperl evolved without a Deep Sea Tooth," TK said. Professor Birch stroked his chin.
"Yes. I believe it has something to do with the water," Professor Birch theorized. He took a handful of water and sipped it.
"So, how is it?" Sara asked.
"This water is rich with minerals and very delicious. Something is very peculiar about this water," Professor Birch said, taking out a lab glass. "I only need to take a small sample of it." He fills it up to the top line of the glass.
"You think there's some secret to the water, dad?" Brendan asked.
"I'm not quite sure. Perhaps there could be something in Island B," Professor Birch said. Coming behind the group is the boy from before and he makes a big splash making a step, drawing everyone's attention.
"Is someone there?" Sora asked. Stepping out of hiding is the boy from before. Nancy got infuriated by his presence.
"What do you think you're doing here, Keith?" Nancy asked.
"What do you care?" Keith asked.
"For your information, we're researching Huntail and it has nothing to do with you!" Nancy argued.
"Yeah, what's your point?" Keith asked, pretending not to care.
"The point is kids from Island B aren't even allowed on Island C, so you go home!" Nancy told him and pointing her finger.
"Hey, get over it! I only came to do some research on the competition!" Keith said.
"Then it stands to reason that you are interested in Huntail," Professor Birch pointed out. Sora and the other kids were starting to think the same thing. Keith winced and he looked to his right.
"No I'm not! I only like Gorebyss," Keith said defensively.
"I see. It turns out that I'm doing my next research on Gorebyss. Would you like to come as my Island B guide?" Professor Birch suggested.
"Yeah!" Keith said. The group returned to the boat and headed off to Island B, but they were unaware of Nancy following them. The group entered a cave similar to the one on Island C and saw a smiliar small waterfall. "My grandpa always said if you brought Clamperl in this cave, then you would end up having a Gorebyss in an instant." Kairi took out her Pokéball and lets out her Clamperl.
"And here goes," Kairi said, placing her Clamperl in the water and causes her Clamperl to evolve. She now had herself a Gorebyss.
"Now Kairi's Clamperl evolved into a Gorebyss," Matt said.
"And without a Deep Sea Scale just like with Sora's Clamperl," Joe said.
"Interesting," Professor Birch said. He took a handful of the water and sipped it up.
"How does that taste?" Tai asked.
"The taste is a little different, but still rich with minerals and quite delicious as well," Professor Birch said, taking out another lab glass. "Now, I only need to take a sample of the water." Nancy had caught up with them, only to slip and exposing herself.
"You again!" Kairi said.
"Hey, we're researching on Gorebyss, so it's none of your business!" Keith barked.
"Yeah? Too bad! I was only here to study the enemy!" Nancy said.
"So, you're interested in Gorebyss, am I correct?" Professor Birch asked. Nancy winced and the kids knew a familair sight when they saw it.
"No! Huntail are way better Pokémon!" Nancy said and ran out.
The group returned to the Pokémon Center as the couple have taken a look at their newest Pokémon.
"My Clamperl became a Huntail on Island C while yours became on Island B. Also, those little kids said they weren't interested in one, but they're really interested in the other," Sora said.
"I know. But you gotta admit, I think we both we made the best choice. I mean a Huntail suited you best," Kairi said.
"Yeah, and I think a Gorebyss suited you best since it's pretty just like you are," Sora said, making Kairi blush.
"Stop it, Sora," Kairi said. Sora held Kairi's hand as they stared into eah other's eyes and smiled. Not too far, Keith and Nancy were eyeing the couple's Huntail and Gorebyss and smiled. They looked at each other and turned away.
"Hmph," Keith and Nancy said.
Elsewhere on a different island, Genghis and Kahnnie had snuck out of Team Aqua's submarine still wearing the stolen outfits.
"You sure Jessie and James are around here, Kahnnie?" Genghis asked.
"Not in the slightest, but it's a good start as any," Genghis said.
Jessie, James, and Meowth had snuck out of Team Magma before anyone could notice as well. They were on the same island as Genghis and Kahnnie.
"Glad we got out before someone noticed something was up," James said.
"Stuck around any longer then we would have been in hot water," Meowth said.
"If only we could make our report back at HQ. Not sure why it won't respond," Jessie said.
"I know, even when we have got so much dirt on Team Magma," James said.
They went further through the island, unaware of Genghis and Kahnnie on the same island as them.
"You know something, out of everyone back at HQ, the ones we wish we could see is Genghis and Kahnnie," Jessie said. James was thinking the same thing as his lover.
"Yeah. I can only wonder how they'll react when they hear about, well you know," James said, gesturing to Meowth.
"Well, um," Jessie blushed.
"You mean the whole thing about you two being a couple, I already know about it," Meowth said. Jessie and James blushed when they heard him say that.
"You know?!" Jessie and James exclaimed.
"Yeah, I know. I heard ya talking that one night," Meowth said.
"How much do you about-" James asked when Meowth cut him off.
"About your little dance that one night and right up to when you told each other; I know all about it," Meowth said. Jessie grabs the scratch cat Pokémon and shook him.
"And you wait until now to tell us?!" Jessie yelled. Not too far, Genghis and Kahnnie hear them. Their faces lit up.
"Hey, don't blame me! I was just respecting your privacy! Besides, it was pretty obvious if you really think about it!" Meowth argued.
"He's right, Jess. It was a matter of time before he figured it out anyway," James said. Jessie reluctantly agreed and places him down.
"I suppose," Jessie said. She looked at Meowth. "I should have guessed you would know," Jessie said.
"Well, I am smarter than the both of you put together. But it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out Genghis and Kahnnie would be thrilled for you," Meowth said.
"Yeah, they would," Jessie said.
"Wish they were here with us right now," James said.
"Jessie?" Kahnnie asked.
"James?" Genghis asked.
They got wide-eyed when they heard their voices and came through the shrubs.
"Kahnnie?" Jessie asked.
"Genghis! I don't believe it!" James exclaimed.
"It's really you!" Jessie said, giving Kahnnie a hug. "Why are you wearing those tacky uniforms?"
"It's a long story," Kahnnie said.
"Hey, if you're here, then where's-?" Meowth asked when Fearow swooped down and took him in his talons. "Hey there, Fearow! I missed you too!"
"We're happy to see you both, but what are you doing here?" James asked. Genghis and Kahnnie both looked at them and they sighed heavily.
"We came baring news for you," Genghis said.
"The boss had sent you on a phony mission right from the start," Kahnnie said. Jessie, James, and Meowth looked at them dumbfounded.
"A false mission?" Jessie asked surprised.
"It's true. The boss was planning on getting rid of you right from the start. We heard him and Matori talking," Genghis said.
"There's no way he could do that. The boss sent us to keep tabs on Team Magma and Team Aqua," James said.
"A wild goose chase," Genghis said.
"We have been trying to get in touch with HQ for a while and so far, we had no luck," Meowth said.
"Then they did it," Kahnnie said. The Team Rocket couple looked at each other. Kahnnie took out her ipad and hands it to them. "Try to access your files." Jessie and James tried to access their files, only to find a page that reads: NO ENTRY. Jessie, James, and Meowth were shocked to see that their files weren't there.
"No! They can't do that to us, unless we're dead," Jessie said.
"That was the idea. Also, they were going to use your Pokémon in some sort of experiment," Genghis said.
"WHAT?! YOU MEAN MY ARBOK?!" Jessie exclaimed.
"MY WEEZING AND MY VICTREEBEL?!" James exclaimed.
"Don't worry. They're safe," Genghis said as he and Kahnnie took out their Pokéballs and let them out. Arbok wrapped his body around Jessie as Victreebel chomps onto James's head and Weezing nuzzles him.
"I missed you too, Victreebel! Now stop trying to eat me!" James yelled. He gets his head out of the flycatcher Pokémon's mouth.
"Why would they experiment on our Pokémon when we die?" Jessie asked.
"They said something about some kind of project," Genghis said.
"We don't know what project they were talking about," Kahnnie said.
"So, we broke them out of storage and get to you as fast as we could," Genghis said. Jessie and James were silent for the most part. They should have realized it a whole lot sooner. They didn't want to believe it, but they both knew it was the truth. Meowth was more devastated since he never got to be on the boss's lap like he wanted. The Team Rocket trio had to make the most difficult decision they ever had to make. The problem is they couldn't bring Genghis and Kahnnie down with them.
"What do you say, Jess?" Meowth asked.
"We're going to make Team Rocket pay for throwing us away like yesterday's trash," Jessie said. Genghis and Kahnnie were surprised to hear it. "We work ourselves to the bone to bring in some rare and valuable Pokémon, but all we get is the end of a very long stick. We do something wrong right and nobody cares. It's bad enough that we get our asses handed to us by some kids, but the boss and everyone else in our criminal organization just shuns us, making us a laughing stock and some weak links! We were finally given a mission of a lifetime only to find out that it's all a sham! Well, I had it! Giovanni and his precious Team Rocket is going down!"
"That's the way, Jessie!" James said.
"Testify, sistah!" Meowth added. Wobbufett pops out.
"Wobbu, Wobbu, Wobbufett!" Wobbufett said. Genghis and Kahnnie were stunned. Jessie, James, and Meowth turned to them with sad looks on their faces.
"It's best you head back to Kanto right now. They're probably wondering where you are by now," James said.
"No. We're going to help you," Genghis said.
"We just don't want to get you into any trouble," Jessie said.
"That's our problem, Jessie. Besides, you were there for us, so it's only fair that we even the playing field!" Kahnnie said.
"Kahnnie's right. It's only a matter of time before they do the same to us," Genghis added.
"You know, we could use their help from the inside. Genghis and Kahnnie could dig up some dirt on Team Rocket and we can tip to the local authorities," James said.
"Lock them up and throw away the key!" Meowth said.
"Wobbufett!" Wobbufett said.
"But, before we do that, we'll take down Team Magma and Team Aqua. Show them that we mean business," Jessie said.
With that done, Jessie, James, Meowth, Genghis and Kahnnie all formed a pact to destroy Team Rocket. As of that day, they became Team Anti-Rocket. Genghis and Kahnnie joined in secretly while as their only known agents. Team Magma and Team Aqua would only be the first to sample their newly founded power.
Back on Island A, Professor Birch analyzed the water samples he took from Islands B and C. The group became anxious to hear what he had to say.
"Fascinating," Professor Birch said.
"So, what did you find out, professor?" Sora asked.
"Pika," Pikachu said.
Just then, Nancy and Keith both came in running.
"Professor!" Nancy and Keith both called out.
"Please talk about Gorebyss," Nancy said.
"No, talk about Huntail!" Keith said.
"Hey, why do you care about Huntail?" Nancy hissed.
"And what about you and Gorebyss?" Keith asked.
"Seems to me Nancy likes Gorebyss and Keith likes Huntail, am I right?" May asked. Nancy and Keith knew they had been caught, so they might as well come clean about it.
"It looks like you're right, May," Mimi said.
"Is that why you two are fighting so much?" Amy asked.
"I really want my Clamperl to evolve into a Gorebyss," Nancy admitted.
Keith admitted, "And I want a Huntail."
"Well, let's have a look at both of your Clamperl, shall we?" Professor Birch suggested. Everyone wen to the outdoor pool and they threw their Pokéballs.
"Come out, Clamperl!" Nancy and Keith called out as their Clamperl both emerged from their Pokéballs.
"What healthy looking Clamperl. What fine Huntail and Gorebyss the will evolve," Professor Birch said.
"But professor, what I really want is a pretty Gorebyss," Nancy said.
"And I really want an awsome Huntail," Keith said.
"If you wanted the opposite of what your Clamperl evolved into, then why didn't you just say anything before?" Brendan asked.
"I just couldn't tell anyone because they would just tell me that I should evolve my Clamperl into a Huntail," Nancy said.
"Same with me," Keith said.
"It's my personal opinion that it's best the trainer and the Pokémon evolves into what you really want and not what others tell you," Professor Birch said.
"Yeah!" Nancy and Keith agreed.
"So have you figured out how they evolved?" Nancy asked.
"After analyzing the water, it stems to reason that the water in both caverns comes from under the sea. The water on Island C has particles of a Deep Sea Tooth while the water on Island B has particlaes of a Deep Sea Scale," Professor Birch said.
"If the water has a Deep Sea Tooth and a Deep Sea Scale, then the caverns might have one too, right?" Davis asked.
"Right. Let's investigate further," Professor Birch said.
"Let's split the work," Tai said. He took out his two Ultra Balls and threw them. "Drake! Dracanea! Come out!" Both of his Dragonite emerge from their Ultra Balls. Professor Birch was impressed by his two Dragonite.
"What fine Dragonite you have, Tai," Professor Birch said.
"Thanks," Tai said. He walked up to his two Dragonite. "Drake, Dracanea, I need you to head for Islands B and C to help out." he shows the two dragon Pokémon the map. Drake carried Sora, Pikachu and Nancy as they headed for Island B to look for a Deep Sea Scale and Dracanea took Kairi, Angel and Keith as they headed for Island C to search for a Deep Sea.
On Island B, they headed into the caern to search for a Deep Sea Scale.
"It should be somewhere in the water. It might explain on how they evolve," Sora said.
"Pika," Pikachu said.
"Kay," Nancy said as they searched the water. Nancy has found a Deep Sea Scale. "Is this it?" Sora went up to her.
"Yep, that's it alright," Sora said.
"Yay!" Nancy cheered.
"Give it to your Clamperl and see what happens," Sora suggested.
"Sure," Nancy said, throwing her Pokéball.
"Come on out, Clamperl!" Nancy called out. Her Clamperl came out and she gave it to her Clamperl. Strangely nothing happens. "Why isn't it working?"
"Maybe you should send your Clamperl over to the Pokémon Center and head back?" Sora suggetsed.
"Yeah, good idea," Nancy said. Sora, Pikachu, and Nancy contacted Nurse Joy inside the cabin and she places her Pokéball on the Pokéball teleporter. "Nurse Joy, I'm ready to send over my Clamperl."
"Here we go," Nurse Joy as she activated the teleportation and the Pokéball arrives from the other side.
On Island C, Dracanea had brought Kairi, Angel, and Keith over to the cavern to search for a Deep Sea Tooth.
"It should be around here somewhere," Kairi said. Keith searched the water until he saw a tooth-shaped figure in the water.
"Is that it?" Keith asked. He went for it and took it. "Is ths a Deep Sea Tooth?" THe boy shows Kairi.
"It's definitely a tooth, alright. Give it to your Clamperl and see what happens," Kairi said.
"Okay," Keith said, taking out his Pokéball and throws it. "Come out, Clamperl!" His Clamperl emerges from the Pokéball and gave it to his Clamperl. "Ready to become a Huntail?" They waited anxiously to see what happens, but nothing happens. "It's not working."
"That's weird. Both of mine and Sora's Clamperl evolved without a problem. Maybe you should send him to the Pokémon Center," Kairi said.
"Okay," Keith said. Keith transferred his Pokéball to the Pokémon Center on Island A as he, Kairi, Angel, and Keith headed back.
The couples, the kids, and the Dragonite all came back to the Pokémon Center and explained that none of the Clamperl had evolved.
"That's weird," Brendan said.
"They should have evolved the same way Sora's and Kairi's did," Max said.
"How could that happen?" May asked.
"I don't know. But we should have a look at your Clamperl," Professor Birch suggested.
The group went up to the counter to pick up the Clamperl from Nurse Joy.
"Here are your two Clamperl," Nurse Joy said, handing them their Pokéballs.
"Thank you!" Nancy and Keith said, taking back their Pokéballs. "Come on out, Clamperl!" Both Clamperl came out right at the same time with the Deep Sea Tooth and Deep Sea Scale in place.
"Doesn't look like anything happened," TK said.
"Maybe," Professor Birch said. Suddenly, both Clamperl started to evolve.
"Professor! Are they?" Yolei asked.
"Yes. It's time," Professor Birch said. Both Clamperl had evolved into the Pokémon they wanted their Clamperl to be.
"My Clamperl is now a Gorebyss!" Nancy cheered.
"And mine's a Huntail!" Keith said.
"I knew it. Maybe they should have been called back into their Pokéballs and then called back out," Izzy said.
"That's it?" Amy asked.
"I guess we still have lots to learn about Pokémon, I suppose," Professor Birch said.
"I kinda remember something like this happened before," Sora said. Kairi turned to her boyfriend.
"What do you mean, Sora?" Kairi asked.
"Remember when Lana's Poliwhirl evolved into a Politoed? She was holding my King's Rock at the time. She may not have gotten a Poliwrath like she wanted, but she still loves her Politoed," Sora said.
"How could I forget?" Kairi asked.
"How about we take your newly evolved Pokémon out for a swim?" May suggested.
"Sure!" Nancy and Keith said in unison. Nancy and Keith let their Huntail and Gorebyss swim around the pool. They were happy to see how wonderful their new Pokémon are. Sora and Kairi decided to let their Huntail and Gorebyss join in on the fun as well. They swam around and around, playing happily.
"Just look at that. They're playing so happily," Kari said.
"At least they're not fighting each other," Davis said.
"After getting what they want, there doesn't seem to be a reason to," Cody said.
"Glad to hear it," Joe said.
After a couple of hours, the group boarded the ship and started to head for the next island. Brendan, May, and Max have joined them for the time being.
"Say dad, what are you going to do for a while?" Brendan asked.
"Since my research on the Clamperl is completed, I'll be sticking around for a little while longer," Professor Birch said.
"Okay. And don't forget to give mom a ring later," Brendan said.
"I'll try not to," Professor Birch assured his son. "Sora, Kairi, May, Max it's good to see you as always. And it was nice meeting the rest of you," Professor Birch said.
"We'll see you soon," Sora said. They waved goodbye as they sailed off to the next island. As they sailed, Nancy and Keith rode on their Huntail and Gorebyss.
"Hey!" The two kids called out, catching up with them.
"How are things back home?" Sora asked.
"Great! When we got home, we showed our new Pokémon to everyone, they started to train their Pokémon on Islands B and C," Nancy said.
"Yeah and everyone is starting to get along with everyone else," Keith added.
"Looks like you two started a new trend," Tai said.
"And it was thanks to all of you," Keith said.
"Just take care of your Huntail and Gorebyss, you two," Kairi said.
"We will," Keith said.
"You do the same!" Nancy said.
The ship sailed off as the kids waved goodbye to the group. Sora and Kairi had each gotten a new Pokémon and put an end to a fued that appears to be without an end. They continued on to Mossdeep City while continuing their island adventure with another one coming up.
