"Jareth, I accept your offer"

"good"

Sarah's hand began uncontrollably shaking when the crystal started jerking about in her palm blazing a brilliant white light, only thing she could hear was Jareths evil laugh ring in her ears as he quickly faded away from her. The Crystals blinding light beamed swallowing all of her surroundings, Sarah shielded her eyes due to its brightness and she could no longer feel the floor underneath her causing her to panic, she unshielded herself to looked around to see there was no Jareth, there was nothing but the crystal still in her hand and it was still admitting a strong light burning her hand, She squeezed her eyes shut going back to her muttering about this still being a nightmare.

Suddenly, Sarah felt her feet softly landing back onto a hard stone floor when the white flash had stopped, She felt dizzy and confused only to find herself back in the throne room with Jareth just stood in front of her along with his signature smirk, Sarah looked down to see the crystal had stopped glowing.

"Wha-what happened?" Sarah grabbed her head as she felt a headache coming on

"We're back in my throne room, as you can see" Jareth gestured their surroundings with Sarah still being too dazed to fully acknowledge where she was or how she got there, she began stumbling and losing her footing "I-I mean h-how d-did I get h-here?" she angrily huffed, Jareth thought it was quite entertaining seeing her this worked up given her discombobulated state so he let out a small chuckle underneath his gloved hand not making any attempt to hide his amusement from her.

"Well that was just the official announcement of our agreement and that you accepted the offer, the crystal flashed as a mark our agreement was finalized and from the looks of things, the Labyrinth agreed too" He smiled at her still watching her struggling to stand, "Th-the Labyrinth? why does a maze have to agree?" she breathed still struggling now with beads of sweat appearing on her forehead, Jareth frowned at her ignorance "I thought that even you by now would have known that the Labyrinth is more than a mere maze" he turned from her in disappointment.

"I want to go home" she tearfully admitted with her body going like jelly.

Jareth looked over at her to see she was crying again with her body fighting to stay upright and he sighed "it seems the Labyrinth's magic has drained you of your energy, it can be too powerful for humans and it seems you're no exception. You have however lasted longer than most" He grinned at her. Jareth had to admit he was quite impressed by Sarah, Humans rarely lasted this long in a fae realm particularly the Labyrinth due to how ancient and powerful the magic is, in fact, Jareth couldn't recall the last time a human lasted longer than 13 hours as most would simply give up their quest or the fae magic is too much for them, some humans have died due to overexposure of magic in such a short period of time.

Jareth knew Sarah was different, that even though she was from the mortal world Aboveground she belonged with him in the fae realm Underground, she was destined to be his Queen and fellow ruler of the labyrinth. He could see she was distress with her fumbling along trying to make sure she doesn't fall over, it's almost like the labyrinth's magic had intoxicated her. Jareth turned stern 'you're not going to like this precious but it's for your own good' he strode over to her as he saw Sarah panicking.

"No no" Sarah cried with her weakly putting her arms up in a feeble attempt to stop him from coming near her because she didn't want him touching her again but she could feel her legs betraying her and even with her blurry vision she could see him getting closer to her. Sarah felt his hands clench her frail body with her feeling like a flimsy ragdoll to him, he made her stand and held her upright with his face only being inches away from hers "I think it is home time Precious, just say your right words" he smiled slightly cocking his head.

"P-please take me home Jareth...I wish the goblin king *hiccup* would take me home right now" She managed to choke out, her head rolled backward with unruly tears still pouring out of her eyes, the sensation of Jareth being in close contact with her again set her inner being on fire, her breaths became more rapid and she started quivering as he held her tightly. Sarah passed out. Jareth gave a small smile when he began gazing at her face again, Sarah's mouth gaped open for breath as her breathing steadied and flowing easily, her hair fallen all over her delicate face attaching itself to the sweat on her forehead, her cheeks and under eyes glistening in the throne rooms candlelight from her tears, he moved some from the loose strands of hair sticking to her face and parted lips with him brushing his fingers through her hair.

"As you wish my queen"

...

Glitter showered Sarah's room as Jareth brought her back home, He was still clinging onto her limp form but was listening out for her parents because he dreaded what would happen if her parents saw their unconscious daughter with a strange man so he waited a couple of minutes, silence, he figured everyone was asleep so he didn't want to be too loud or stay too long although he wanted to.

'Hrmmphhh' Sarah's head rolled, she was beginning to regain consciousness "Sssshhhh Precious" Jareth brought his hand to the back of her head and put her against his chest, He spotted her bed 'now to get her on the bed' Jareth spent a few moments wondering how he was going to get her from where they were stood to her bed then it came to him 'I'm going to have to carry her' he hoisted up her limp body bridal style as he walked over to her bed and gently placed her down, he even made sure she was in the recovery position so he knew she would be okay.

Once he was content with how she was laying, he saw the patchwork throw just under her feet and delicately laid it over her now sleeping form, he smiled down at her seeing her sleeping so soundly 'you've had a long day precious, but it is the first day of your new life...your new life with me' He turned to look at Sarah's room, it was just how he knew as expected it was full of toys and costumes, toys on her bed with her, toys on the floor, on the window seat, in her wooden storage unit, at the end of her bed, on the chair, chest of draws, everywhere! it quite surprised him how many dolls, teddys, stuffed animals, etc this girl had plus the number of full bookshelves he could see, the only thing he'd consider teenage about her room was the posters and small amounts of cosmetics randomly dotted about 'still only a child yourself' it surprised him how small the room was too.

He walked over to her mirror and saw the picture of her mother with her boyfriend, he fixated on it, he could see Sarah clearly taken after her mother both personality and looks wise 'so you're the one who broke Sarah's heart' he mused. Jareth looked over the small things surrounding the mirror and its table, he could see the cheap barrettes that she was fond of scattered around the table as well as numerous colored headbands, an unused tin of hairspray which Irene had bought her, a blue pot of pens and pencils, more of her plastic jewelry and necklaces hung over the sides of the mirror, a lilac-colored accessories box and a floral box of tissues then he saw the figurine of himself, he remembers how she got it.

*flashback*

Sarah had the goblin king figurine bought for her shortly before her parents divorced 3 years ago when she was 12, Her father brought it for her from the local antique dealer in their town. Sarah remembers that day as Robert bought her the figurine after he explained to her that mommy and daddy won't be not living together anymore and how daddy was 'dating' another woman. Robert knew that a trip to the antique store would cheer her up after being told the bad news and if he bought her something it would help ease his guilt for her tears of sadness and loss would turn to excited squeals of happiness as they approached the store.

Sarah was jumping around excitedly as she zoomed around the store "Sarah sweetie, please be careful. This is an expensive store and daddy doesn't want to be paying out" Robert nervously laughed as he saw his daughter buzzing around the store like a bee, Robert didn't much care for vintage and antique stores but he knew how much Sarah adored them 'Okay kiddo, you can buy one thing and it's gotta be $20 or under" Sarah was too busy admiring some 1940's hats and purses to pay attention to her father which he noticed "kids eh?" He sighed at the eccentrically dressed shopkeeper just leaning casually over the cabinet.

Sarah knew the store like the back of her hand, at the front of the store was the hats, fur coats, dresses along with mountains of accessories, and further into the store delved into furnishings which her and her mom wondered at when they visited, antiquities and vintage were one of the things Sarah and her mom bonded over as well as fantasy and taught her that although these things are old they still have their beauty but most kids at her school would just dismiss them as 'old people stuff' and therefore Sarah got picked on for liking such things.

She ventured deeper into the store, the furthest she'd ever been so much so she even lost sight of her father and couldn't hear him calling for her anymore, "Sarah.." something else was calling her, a voice or rather voices she never heard before luring her further into the store. Sarah walked past things that she'd never seen before nor did she recognize where she was going, everything was thickly covered in dust and cobwebs with only a small window providing dim sunlight, she could only make out the outlines of items as they were so dust-ridden, she could vaguely see dust particles whirling around in the air and the musty smell of unloved vintage clothes made her nose wrinkle.

Sarah finally came across a wooden door with white paint chipping off and a shabby 'employees only' sign on it, she thought it was best not that she goes in there as she didn't want to get into trouble, therefore, she turned on her heel ready to turn back "Sarah.." it was those voices again speaking to her, it was odd as she'd never heard these voices before and they were so strange to her but yet they felt like home, her heard the door creak open by itself "Sarah...come in" Sarah hesitantly walked towards the door and peeked through the small opening when she saw something that caught her eye. Sarah wandered into the mysterious room in awe, her eyes never leaving the thing she saw. It was a figurine.

The figurine was painted in greyscale with only a few pops of color mainly its eyes, the eyes were painted a sparkling light blue which made them stand out as compared to the rest of the figurine, with its angular carved face painted a light grey and surrounding hair a slighter darker shade of grey, the hair had been made to look like it was unruly and wild with it resting on its shoulders, the pants were a matching grey to its hair, a cape was flowing dramatically behind the figurine in a midnight black with a navy blue underneath, the figurines knee-high boots were also black and it also seemed to be wearing a waist coast along with a white poets shirt. What caught Sarah's attention the most was what was in its hands, its left arm was outstretched behind it holding some sort of wand and its right hand appeared to be holding a clear circular orb in its hand. The Figurine was no doubt masculine but not like any other male Sarah had ever seen before, she has never seen a man who looked like this in her day-to-day life but she only ever saw this man in her dreams. He was handsome.

"Amazing, isn't he?" Sarah flinched out of her amazement when she was greeted by a smooth English accent, Sarah turned to see the shopkeeper with his arms folded behind his back as he was also admiring the figurine, Sarah began turning red "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry, I-I didn't know where I was and there was this voice and-and.." She grew more anxious as she thought she had been caught with the shopkeeper sweetly smiling at her when he stopped her "That's quite alright my child, I don't blame you for wanting to know about the Goblin King" He continued smiling "The Goblin king?" Sarah puzzled, "Yes, Jareth is his name I believe. King of the goblins, Prince of the fae, Lord of wishes and dreams, and ruler of the Labyrinth...as well as a master of disguises" He briefly turned away from her as he smirked to himself.

Sarah examined the shopkeeper, taking in what he was wearing and how bizarre he looked, he was a man in his mid 30s with a slender frame, facially he was quite attractive with his fashion sense being a mixture between a sophisticated english man and a hippie still living in the 60s along with a few quirky touches as his blonde presumably shoulder length hair was tied into a low pony tail although it was still slightly unkempt, he was wearing a multicoloured tiedye T-shirt with a white opened waistcoat with golden stitching over his T-shirt, he wore blue loose fitting jeans which had frayed rips on the knees with his shirt being tucked into his jeans and he was wearing brown strap sandals with brass buckles, she also noticed he was wearing 2 pairs of glasses at the same time, a pair on his eyes and the others on resting on his forehead and his hands encased in peacock blue leather gloves, she found him...odd to say the least but that wasn't the strangest thing about his attire, it was his pendant, she'd only only ever seen pendants like that in books she read about the fae and how it was only fae royalty who wore such pendants.

Sarah halted her analysis of the eccentric shopkeeper when he turned back facing her with a dumb but pleasant smile "so what else about this 'goblin king' character? and what's a lab-laby-labyrinth?" she questioned, "Ah yes, stories have it where you call upon him because you wish for someone away that he and his goblins will come to take that person away" Sarah noticed how the shopkeeper's accent has strangely changed more local sounding as he continued "and the only way to win them back is if you run his Labyrinth and the Labyrinth is a fantastical but complicated network of paths and passages along with traps and obstacles. In short, a maze" Sarah continued to examine him with a 'huh' when he started drinking tea from a chintzy clay mug with a spoon which he didn't have before as if it just appeared out of thin air.

"Would you like to buy him? he's not usually for sale but it seems like you'd give him a good home" Sarah turned back to look at the figurine when she felt it drawing her in again "yes..." those voices again, Sarah coyly picked up the figurine giving it one final inspection "I don't know what it is about him but yes, I'd like to purchase him" she said excitedly, "Wonderful!" The shopkeeper gleefully exclaimed "Now, let's go back to the front of the store as your father must be worried about you" Sarah gave him a small chuckle as they went made their way back to the main part of the store.

"Sarah! there you are kiddo, I've been worried sick about you! I even called your mother telling her about this...place" he was ecstatic to see his daughter was okay but Robert wasn't trying to hide his disdain for where they were "Where have you been for the past 2 hours?" Sarah's eyes widened in disbelief at hearing this, "2 hours? I-I was only gone for 10 minutes, half-hour tops" Robert now visibly angry "and what do you know about this?" he pointed angrily at the shopkeeper who just took a calm sip of his tea with the steam fogging up his glasses "I assure you, I didn't harm your child. I simply went into the back looking for her after she wondered off as you told me to" The shopkeeper's mellow attitude seemed to slightly rub off on Robert "Fine, I asked you to look and you found her, took your damn time but at least she's safe now" Robert looked down at Sarah who was sweetly smiling at him and he gave her a responding smile.

"Look Daddy, I even found something" Sarah proudly held up the figurine for Robert to hold, Robert brought it up to his eye level and gave it a disapproving look "What an ugly character!" both Sarah and the Shopkeeper frowned at Roberts frankness, "but if that's what you want kiddo then okay" Robert smiled at Sarah then glanced over to the shopkeeper "How much?" The shopkeeper lazily lifted his tea to his lips and took a sip whilst he debated the price with Sarah and Robert standing there awkwardly waiting for him to finish and Robert growing all the more annoyed at him.

"50 bucks" The shopkeeper said plainly putting his mug down, Robert looked at the shopkeeper like he had slapped his mother "50 Bucks?! for this piece of crap?" he seethed making sure Sarah couldn't hear the last part, The shopkeeper went back to casually leaning over the counter, "I told your daughter that this particular figurine isn't usually for sale but I think she'll give it a good home so, therefore, it's $50" Robert was about ready to punch the shopkeeper for his audacity but he could see how desperately Sarah wanted the ugly figurine when he saw tears form in her eyes, "Fine" Robert sighed "She's had a hard day" Sarah squealed with joy.

Robert begrudgingly reached into his coat pocket to find his wallet and pulled out a crisp $50 note, "this is your birthday present kiddo" Sarahs birthday happened to be close enough for him to overlook this pricey investment "Oh thank you Daddy, I'll never ask for anything again" Sarah clenched her new item with excitement as she saw her father leaving for the car in annoyed haste. Sarah began following her father back to the car outside "Wait" Sarah stopped to face the shopkeeper who was still leaning on the cabinet with his arms folded "first thing's first, He is not a toy" he said nonchalantly which made Sarah nod her head "and secondly..." The shopkeeper's accent changed again back into the suave English tone she was greeted with earlier as he straightened his back and pulled his shoulders back so that his posture was correct rather than the slouching, laidback demeanor he had previously. He regally made his way over to her and never broke eye contact. This was a stark contrast to how he originally presented himself, his face turned serious which unnerved Sarah when he came up close and slightly crouched to reach her eye level "Secondly, never trifle with the goblin king, Sarah. Do you understand?" She was looking directly into his blue eyes to see he had one pupil larger than the other with him intensely staring back at her and she gasped "how-how do you know my name?"

"SARAH!" Robert called from the car outside whilst papping the car horn, She swiftly turned her head around breaking eye contact with the shopkeeper "COMING" she bellowed back, Sarah restarted her exit but before she left she turned back in the store's doorway to see that the shopkeeper had returned to just leaning back onto the cabinet and thought no way could he have gotten there that fast.

In the car, Sarah was admiring her new gift but was still freaked out by the shopkeeper's change of character during her final moments with him. "Wow, can't believe it 50 dollars for that ugly thing" Robert chuckled with Sarah just quietly looking at her birthday present "Tell you what kid, we are never going to that place again. Damn ripoff for that thing, and the guy working there? I was about ready to punch him in the nose for that price, looked like a freak too!" he ranted, Sarah just despondently gazed at her gift without answering him, he looked over to see his daughters response and saw she wasn't a happy Sarah.

"What made you want that thing anyway?" he questioned trying to get a rise out of her, Sarah eyes and head slowly lifted away from the figurine, aimlessly staring forward into the distance with her only response for the rest of the car journey home being "This is the man from my dreams".

*End Flashback*

Jareth remembers that day well as it was the first time he ever actually spoke to Sarah, although he knew Sarah could see through his cheap disguise but now here he was, in her room after she had run the Labyrinth and he concocted his plan to make her stay. He turned to look at her one final time to see she was still sleeping soundly before he returned underground but just before doing so he left a crystal and a small scroll on the table by her bedside. His eyes never leaving her, he leaned over and caressed her cheek.

"Goodnight my Queen"

He vanished

...

A poof of glitter sprinkled across the throne room floor during Jareths return to the underground. Goblins of all shapes, sizes, and colors were dispersed in all corners of the throne room and going about their usual antics of laughing, drinking, and overall being merry. Jareth didn't mind, he was in a particularly good mood, therefore, he excused them just running past him as if their king wasn't in their presence, he quite liked them being joyous as he knew they were mindlessly happy however now they have something to actually celebrate. he smiled to himself.

"My loyal Subjects!" Jareth threw his arms up when his voice filled the throne room, the goblin's foolishness abruptly ceased when they just realized their king had returned. Sometimes Jareth found their obliviousness quite charming but it was irritating for the most part as he heard a solitary metal goblet drop to the floor with a hundred goblin eyes gawking at him and random chickens clucking around.

Jareth paused for dramatic effect then gave them a triumphant grin "My loyal subjects, we have our queen!" an almighty roar of cheers erupted from the goblins and they no doubt returned to their festivities, Jareth let them have their few moments of celebration as he heard them poorly trying to sing 'magic dance', jumping around, goblets crashing against the floor with plates being thrown, a new barrel of goblin beer was being rolled in and somehow confetti managed to appear. A plate came his way which he caught in his left hand, this made the goblins stop again.

"Now, we don't have much time. We need to prepare this place to be fit for a queen among other things" He brought his hands behind his back and made a few steps to the center of the throne room where Toby was placed, "In 6 mortal years, Our queen Sarah will be permanently joining us here in the Labyrinth, with you all" Jareth went momentarily dreamy "with me" but he quickly turned serious again for he didn't want his subjects to think he'd gone soft "therefore I expect this place to be perfect! and if I see that anything is less than perfect, you'll all have a fate far worse than the bog of eternal stench. do I make myself clear?" He could now see the goblin's petrified little faces understand what he was saying as some were gulping and nervously nodding at him, "Well..." He raised his hand from behind his back accompanied by the previously thrown plate and violently smashed it against the floor "Get started!"

The goblins scurried and fled around the throne room in total chaos "need things ready ready" said one, "for queeny, for queeny Sarah" said another with Jareth just looking around at his subjects and smirking at their expense "and will someone clean up this bloody plate" he groaned, a small scruffy looking goblin appeared at his feet with dustpan and brush "Yes, your highness" with Jareth just ignoring the goblin, he made his way back to his throne and flung himself down swinging his leg over the arm of his throne looking rather pleased with himself.

"Well done, Jareth"

Jareth's face changed from looking pleased to looking slightly concerned, He looked over at the goblins frantically rushing around the throne room but he didn't want there to be anything distracting during the conversation he's about to have.

"Leave me!" Jareth growled, with that the goblins were gone and the throne room fell silent.

"Well done, My king. You have chosen well. the girl will make a fine queen."

It was the spirit of the Labyrinth speaking to him, he had not heard it speak to him for a while, it was only when matters were serious that they spoke to each other. Its voice sounded as though a man and a woman were speaking simultaneously and neither did it sound young or old, its voice could change from the sweetest melody to a thunderous boom within seconds which has been even known to crush bones and make eyeballs bleed. It could not see or hear but it could sense things, such as it knew all that went on in the Labyrinth and it knew of Sarah's presence whilst she was there. Everything born in the Labyrinth was created by its magic therefore everything you could see was because of the spirit down to every branch to small speck of its dirt. The only thing it didn't create was Jareth, when he became its ruler he had to take part in a bonding ritual to it, forever tying himself to the spirit by pouring his blood on Labyrinths ancient grounds therefore Jareth has a small scar on his right hand hence the reason for his gloves, this also allowed the spirit to occasionally inhabit Jareths body so it could see what he saw and why one of his pupils is dilated.

the Labyrinth could only speak to those who it wants to hear it therefore Jareth and Sarah were some of the few who could hear them speak. Jareth's relationship with the spirit was careful, to say the least.

"but I had to manipulate her into agreeing to me, neither does she know what she's actually agreeing to. She just thinks I've asked her to be my friend" Jareth admitted whilst he felt a pang of guilt in his stomach.

"Yes, but she doesn't need to know the full details now. Give her time to grow and learn, gain her trust then be truthful."

"she's still a child"

"and you're still a child to me Jareth. Give her time my king"

"Besides she didn't do this for herself, she only did this for her brother"

"be patient my king"

Jareth threw himself up from the throne.

"But what if in 6 years' time she doesn't want to stay here and be queen? What if she finds her right words? what if-if, what if she doesn't love me?" he sighed

"do you love her?"

"of course I do, I knew from the moment I saw her" Jareth's face went dreamy again thinking about Sarah.

"I still feel resistance in the child for her will is as strong as yours, however, she is conflicted by her dreams and she still feels undecided about you. In order to get what you want, you must give her what she wants"

Jareth was now feeling anger overtake him "I offered to give her everything she could ever want, I told her to fear me, love me and do as I say and that I would be her slave and it didn't bloody work! I even gave her a glimpse with that darn peach"

"She is not one to be easily seduced my king, you must give her her fantasy, you must be her sleeping thoughts and waking dreams, every thought must be about you, be her Prince she's always dreamed of. be her savior."

Hearing the words 'Prince' finally tipped Jareth over the edge "I'm no bloody Prince! I am King and I will make Sarah my queen however I see fit!"

"DON'T DEFY ME!"

The whole castle ferociously quaked with cracks in the stone walls and floor appearing, Jareth wretched over with a mind splitting headache, he felt as though his head was being ripped apart with blood trickling from his nose, and if the goblin weren't scared enough already they would certainly be scared now. Jareth felt something leaking in his glove, he managed his bring his right hand up to his face to see his golden blood was starting to stain his glove, he lifted his glove off and saw his scar was bleeding as his world violently shuddered around him.

It only lasted for a couple of minutes but it felt like an eternity when it finally stopped.

"I'm sorry" Jareth gasped, He straightened himself back up wiping his nose with his already soiled glove.

"good"

the cracks on the walls and floors eased away like they were never there and Jareths scar stopped bleeding.

"you know I hate it when you defy me Jareth and it causes me to hurt my subjects"

"I know" Jareth reluctantly agreed, now rubbing his formerly bleeding hand.

"So we are in agreement, you must give her her fantasy, make every thought she has about you so that she'll only ever want to be yours. Seduce her with her dreams, make you her everything"

"yes" Jareth was still rubbing his hand annoyed because he had already been trying to do that.

"We all win. I'll finally have a queen, the girl will be in a world where she is loved and appreciated and you, Jareth, will finally have your Sarah"

"Yes, my Sarah" Jareth smiled at that thought, He strode over to the open window overlooking the Labyrinth and made a crystal appear in his now healed hand.

"Now, my King we must prepare for some changes are about to happen for our queen"

"for our queen" he agreed

Jareth smiled into the crystal at Sarah's sleeping form with her just laying sweetly in her bed, the patchwork cover still over her body and she still had her clothes on.

"Now dream Sarah, dream of me..."

...

Morning cracked through Sarah's bedroom window when a new day had started, Sarah fluttered her green eyes open with her slowly sitting up and stretching "Gosh morning already" She said sleepily 'what a crazy dream' she thought having dreamed about dangerous mazes, dwarfs and handsome goblin kings. She rubbed her eyes making her blurry vision clear and she looked down to see was still wearing the clothes she was wearing yesterday 'no way' she started feeling her clothes to see if she was still dreaming, she could feel every fiber and stitch of her jeans and waistcoat 'Pffft no way! I must have been so tired from babysitting Toby that I just fell asleep in my clothes' Sarah made her way out of bed until she saw it on her bedside table. The crystal and a scroll.

"Oh no" She looked at the items, trying to deny that they were there and were real. A solitary tear fell down her cheek.

"it wasn't a dream".

Done! finally, gosh this chapter took its time but it's finally done with, as you can see I've introduced an OG with the spirit of this labyrinth and a little bit of Jareth and Sarah interaction before the events of the film. please leave reviews and chapter suggestions if you like :)
