Episode 277: The Hoenn Grand Festival Part 3
Last time, Kairi had made the final 64 Coordinators in the Hoenn Grand Festival and had to complete the Main Competition Stage. She, May, Drew, Harley, and a Coordinator named Solidad made it as the Grand Festival's top 32. Kairi was paired up with a Coordinator who is in the ownership of a Medicham and May is against Harley. In this part of the sotry, we shall see who will win it and who will not.
It was now the finals of the Hoenn Grand Festival, everyone was watching closely as May and Harley were going on first as Kairi and her opponent were the second battle.
"In accordance in Grand Festival rules the second round of contest matches will be double battles each with a five-minute time limit. Turn your attention to Stage One and the first battle between May and Harley," Vivian announced.
"Take him down, May," Kairi said. May took out her Pokéballs and threw them.
"Bulbasaur, Beautifly! Take the stage!" May called out. Her Bulbasaur and Beautifly both made their entrance.
"Now, for my little friends. Cacturne and Banette!" Harley called out as he chuckled. His Cacturne and Banette both made their entrance on stage.
"Harley, let's make this a fair battle, alright?" May asked.
"We have different definations of 'fair'," Harley said.
"Let the battle begin!" Vivian announced. The clock began to run.
"Go, Banette! Screech, now!" Harley ordered. Banette makes a loud Screech, lowering their defenses. "And now, Cacturne! Bullet Seed!" Cacturne fires Bullet Seed and they make Bulbasaur and Beautifly dance las the seeds were aimed at their feet.
"Bulbasaur! Beautifly!" May exclaimed.
"Aw, come on, too much for you already?" Harley taunted.
"With that combination of Screech and Bullet Seed, Harley just put a major dent in May's points!" Vivian announced.
"Harley may have gotten a good start in this battle, if he isn't careful, his desire for revenge is going to cost him," Soledad said.
"Bulbasaur! Vine Whip!" May ordered. Bulbasaur uses Vine Whip to smack both of her opponents.
"Dodge that!" Harley called out. Cacturne and Banette both dodges Bulbasaur's Vine Whip. But the vines wraps around their ankles, much to Harley's surprise. "Too slow, too slow!"
"And now it's my turn! Beautifly! Silver Wind!" May ordered. Beautifly flapped her wings and unleashes Silver Wind. The attack struck them both. Cacturne took the heaviest damage due to its weakness to Bug Type attacks. Harley had lost a chunk of points.
"There's the Silver Wind from May's Beautifly that had an impact in the preliminaries. It's having an impact on Harley's points too!" Vivian announced.
"Okay! Release your Vine Whip now!" May ordered. Bulbasaur got ready to use her Vine Whip on her opponents and takes them out on a spin. "Beautifly! Give 'em Silver WInd, one more time!" Beautifly gave them another hit from her Silver Wind, making Harley lose his points.
"May has taken the spin that Vine Whip started and accelerated it with Silver Wind! What a beautiful combination attack!" Vivian announced.
"Beauty and power combined," Lisia said.
"Yes, remarkable," Suziko said.
"Those two are really in synch this match," Contesta added.
"Harley's team is losing signifigant points! hich means if he doesn't do something here prretty quick, he's going to lose all his points and turn zero before the clock runs out on him!" Vivian announced. Cacturne and Banette ended up being so dizzy from that Vine Whip and Silver Wind combo.
"Listen to me, come on! Snap out of it!" Harley called out to his Pokémon. Cacturne and Banette both regained their senses.
"Yeah, now let's finish them off," May said. Her Beautifly and Bulbasaur were in full agreement. "Bulbasaur! Hit 'em with your Vine Whip, one more time!" May ordered. Bulbasaur sends out Vine Whip to strike her opponents again.
"Banette! Use Torment!" Harley ordered. Banette glares right at Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur backs away and brings Vine Whip right back to her.
"What? Bulbasaur, what's going on?" May asked.
"How come Bulbasaur just stopped?" Ventus asked.
"Banette just used Torment. It forbids its target to use the same attacks more than once in a row," Lillie said.
"Looks like she can't use Vine Whip for a while now," Terra said.
"She'll have to come up with something new," Sora said.
"Now, Cacturne! Pin Missle!" Harley ordered. Cacturne fires Pin Missle from its spikes
"Throw Bulbasaur in the air, Beautifly!" May called out. Beautifly flew down to Bulbasaur, and the seed Pokémon hops on as the butterfly Pokémon takes to the Missle strikes the ground.
"That was close. But May managed to pull off a stylish rescue!" Vivian announced.
"Oh yeah? Use Will-O-Wisp!" Harley ordered. Banette fires Will-O-Wisp and it struck Bulbasaur and Beautifly in the sky. May had lost some points in that one.
"A direct hit from Will-O-Wisp and just like that, Harley shoots down May's Pokémon and her points!" Vivian announced. Beautifly kept flying as the Will-O-Wisp kept following her and Bulbasaur.
"Go, Bulbasaur! Petal Dance now!" May ordered. Bulbasaur fires Petal Dance right at the Will-O-Wisp and cancels them out. The whole stadium rains down Petal Dance.
"This is incredible! May turns the tide by raining downa beautiful Petal Dance over the field!" Vivian announced.
"You think so?" Harley asked, spitefully. "Cacturne! Pin Missle!" Cacturne fires Pin Missle right at the petals, taking them all down.
"Harley counters. Obviously not going down without a fight!" Vivian announced.
"Sorry about your pathetic little petal routine, my hated enemy. Now to finish you, May. And then, I'm going for Kairi," Harley said. Beautifly and Bulbasaur came in through the smoke. THey were all surpised to see both of May's Pokémon are unharmed.
"Beautifly! Silver Wind! Bulbasaur! Razor Leaf!" May ordered. Beautifly and Bulbasaur unleashed a Razor Leaf and Silver Leaf combination and struck them both hard.
"Now that's a combo!" Wally said.
"I don't think she's ever combined those two attacks before!" Max said. Cacturne and Banette both ended up being knocked out, much to Harley's dismay.
"No! This can't be! Ah!" Harley exclaimed. Haley had ran out of all of his points.
"It's all over for Harley. He now has zero points and so May moves on to the semi-finals!" Vivian announced as the crowd cheers. Brendan smiled as he claps along with everyone else.
"Way to go, May. I knew you were going to beat the pants off that guy again," Brendan said. Team Choatix were watching from the dorm room as they cheered for May for the win.
"Way to go, May!" Charmey said.
"Watching his defeat at her hands again is very satisfying," Espio said.
"Come here, Beautifly, Bulbasaur. You two were just great today," May said. Harley calls back his fallen Pokémon and growls in anger.
"I'm out of here," Harley hissed. Kairi was having her match against the Medicham trainer as she and Angel walked by Harley.
"I can bet that you're happy that I lost, aren't you?" Harley asked.
"All I can say is you got exactly what you deserved out of it," Kairi said.
"What I deserve is to be on the top. And I'm going to enjoy watching you both lose!" Harley hissed spitefully.
"I hope you're in for disappointment, Harley, because that's exactly what you're going to get," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Next is our second battle between Kairi and Grace!" Vivian announced. Grace looked at Kairi with confidence.
"Hey, Kairi, I was impressed by your skills in the Main Competition back there! I hope you're ready for this!" Grace said.
"You won't be disappointed, Grace! I plan to give it my all!" Kairi said.
"Go for it, Kairi! Take her down!" Sora cheered.
"You took the words right out of my mouth, son," Yuta said.
"Now, let's begin the battle!" Vivian called out as the clock starts running. Grace takes out her two Pokéballs.
"Go! Medicham and Xatu!" Grace called out. Both her Medicham and Xatu both entered the battlefield. Kairi had taken out her two Pokéballs.
"Go! Gardevoir and Togetic!" Kairi called out as Togetic and Gardevoir both entered the battlefield.
"Medicham! Begin with your Ice Punch! Xatu! Use your Steel Wing!" Grace ordered. Medicham and Xatu comes at Togetic and Gardevoir with her choice of attacks.
"Togetic! Use Swift! Gardevoir! use Magical Leaf!" Kairi ordered. Togetic and Gardevoir unleashes both of Swift and Magical Leaf right at the two Psychic Type Pokémon. Medicham and Gardevoir both take pretty bad hits as it costs Grace some points.
"Kairi makes a good start by blocking both of Medicham's and Xatu's attacks with Swift and Magical Leaf. Quite astounding!" Vivian announced.
"Medicham! High Jump Kick! Xatu! Drill Peck!" Grace ordered. Medicham and Xatu hurled their way to Togetic and Gardevoir.
"Dodge!" Kairi called out. Togetic and Gardevoir dodges their attacks and Medicham takes a pretty bad hit. Grace lost some points.
"Use Swift and Magical Leaf again!" Kairi called out. Togetic and Gardevoir unleash Swift and Magical Leaf and sends them right at their opponents.
"Kairi sends out another combination of Swift and Magical Leaf once again! Grace better come up with something fast or she'll be left with zero points before the clock runs out!" Vivian announced.
"Medicham! Xatu! Block those with Psychic!" Grace ordered. Medicham and Xatu blocks Swift and Magical Leaf with Psychic. "Now send them back!" Medicham and Xatu sends the two attacks back at their owners and Kairi lost some points this time.
"Grace is making a splendid comeback! She used Kairi's own trick against her! Can Kairi come up with something new fast or will Grace be making more of a comeback?" Vivian asked.
"Togetic! Aerial Ace on Medicham Gaedevoir! Dazzling Gleam on Xatu!" Kairi ordered. Togetic lands an Aerial Ace onto Medihcham and Gardevoir lands a hit onto Xatu.
"Not bad, Kairi. You're better in battle than I thought. And I knew you'd be good," Grace said.
"Thanks, Grace. You're nothing to sneeze at either," Kairi complemented. Grace's face turned red and started laughing.
"Aw, come on, stop! You're making me blush!" Grace said.
"I think that girl is having fun down there," Terra said.
"Kinda like Hau. He always had fun in battle too," Lillie said.
"Yup," Riku said.
"Medicham! High Jump Kick! Xatu! Drill Peck!" Grace ordered. Medicham jumped and came down with High Jump Kick as Xatu came down with another Drill Peck.
"Togetic! Aerial Ace on Xatu! Gardevoir! Dazzling Gleam on Medicham!" Kairi ordered. Gardevoir fires Dazzling Gleam as Togetic darts right at Xatu. Both Togetic and Xatu collided and they both take a blow as both Kairi and Grace lost some points. Gardevoir fires Dazzling Gleam, but Medicham uses its psychic powers to avoid Gardevoir's Dazzling Gleam. Medicham lands a heavy kick onto Gardevoir.
"Wow! Grace is really making a comeback now! Kairi had lost some points as well as Grace when Togetic's Aerial Ace and Xatu's Drill Peck collided! And to make it even more interesting, Medicham had landed a heavy blow with that High Jump Kick!" Vivian announced.
"Come on, Kairi. Get your head in the game," Sora said.
"Pika," Pikachu said.
"Pichu," the Pichu said.
In Alola, eight of the Alolan nine all had their fingers crossed as they hoped for Kairi to bounce back. The Mane seven, Spike, the Kongs, Dingodile, Time Man, Oil Man, Hunter, Bianca, Shiela, Sgt. Byrd, Bentley, and Agent 9 all watched on to see who will come out on top.
"That was great! Let's wrap this up! Ice Punch and Steel Wing!" Grace ordered. Both of her Pokémon came at Kairi's two Pokémon.
"Eevee!" Angel exclaimed.
"I know, Angel! I know! Gardevoir! Use Psychic now!" Kairi ordered. Gardevoir blocks both opponents in their tracks with Psychic. Grace lost some even more points.
"Looks like Gardevoir had stopped Medicham and Xatu from going further than that! Let's see what Kairi has planned!" Vivian announced.
"Togetic! Use Swift and Fairy Wind! And Gardevoir! You use Magical Leaf!" Kairi ordered. Gardevoir ceases Psychic and uses Magical Leaf as Togetic uses Swift and Fairy Wind turning it into a triple combo. Medicham and Xatu both took a devastating hit.
"Wow! Fairy WInd and Swift from Togetic and Magical Leaf from Gardevoir making such a beautiful triple combination!" Vivian announced.
"Very amazing! Those two are in perfect sync unleashing those attacks," Contesta said.
"Very remarkable," Suziko said.
"Now finish up with Dazzling Gleam!" Kairi ordered. Gardevoir unleashes Dazzling Gleam and it combines with Fairy Wind, Swift, and Magical Leaf and it was even more astounding as many different colors glows through; red, blue, green, yellow, pink, and gold. Medicham and Xatu were down for the count and Grace had lost all her points.
"Both of Grace's Pokémon are down as well as are her points! That means, Kairi will be moving on in the semi-finals along with May! Congratulations!" Vivian announced. Grace calls back her fallen Pokémon and went to Kairi.
"Not bad, Kairi. You're even stronger than I thought. I had fun in our battle," Grace said.
"Thank you, Grace. I enojyed it too," Kairi said, shaking her hand.
"What a display of sportsmanship!" Vivian announced.
"I knew she'll pull through," Sora said.
"Of course you'd say that," Elio said.
"Let's see how the rest of the competition fares," Mirei said.
The Grand Festival finals raged on as Kairi, May, Drew, and Soledad had taken down most of the competition. Charmy was literally buzzing with excitement as Kairi is making it through.
"Now, we're down to four more contestants in this year's Grand Festival. The four finalists are Kairi, May, Solidad, and Drew! These four Coordinators had given us quite a show in the first two rounds, and now these four shall wow us all in these two final battles and only one of them is going to be earning that Ribbons Cup! Now we're going to have the computer pair off these four Coordinators to see whom shall face off in the semi-finals," Vivian announced. The computer selects Kairi against Solidad and May against Drew. The battle between Kairi and Solidad will be going before the battle with May and Drew.
"No way!" May gasped.
"May against Drew?" Max asked in shock.
"May has her work put out for her," Aqua said.
"The same can be said for Kairi. Neither one of them can afford to lose this," Riku said.
In the back, Kairi looked to Solidad as she approached her.
"Well, looks like this is what we were expecting, isn't it?" Soledad asked.
"Yes. I want you to know that I plan to give it all I've got in this battle, Soledad. And I expect the same from you," Kairi said. Soledad smiled at her.
"I'm looking forward to seeing your power with my own eyes," Soledad said. They both shook hands, promising each other a good battle. Harley watches from afar.
"Take her down, Soledad. Take her down hard," Harley said.
"Now we are about to begin the finals of the Hoenn Grand Festival! Our two competitors, Kairi and Soledad make their entrance on the stage for their battle! Which one will go on to the final round and which one will be in fourth place?" Vivian aasked.
"Kairi is the one who will be on top, that's who!" Yuta cheered for his daughter.
"Don't be so sure. Soledad looks like she's the clear favorite to win this," Aqua said.
"She's right," Naminé said. "We've already seen her in action and she's nothing to sneeze at."
"Azurill," Azurill said.
Kairi and Soledad both took out their Pokéballs and readied to throw them.
"Go! Slowbro and Pidgeot!" Soledad called out as her Slowbro and Pidgeot enters the stage.
"Then I know who I'll be using. Plusle and Minun! Go!" Kairi called out. Both of her Plusle and Minun enters the stage in sync.
"Soledad has chosen her Slowbro and Pidgeot as Kairi has chosen her Plusle and Minun! Not only she has the complete set, but she has the advantage in battle since both are weak against electric attacks. But, Soledad doesn't seem too worried about that!" Vivian announced.
"Plusle and Minun should win since they're both Electric Types," Max said.
"True, but sometimes the tables can turn," Terra said.
"He's right. Pidgeot and Slowbro may not have the Type advantage, but they look way experienced in battle and in Contests. Kairi knows she's not going to find it easy," Riku said.
"Let the match begin!" Vivian called out.
"Pidgeot! Begin with Twister! Slowbro! Use Psychic to guide it!" Soledad ordered. Pidgeot flapped its wings to whip up a Twister as Slowbro uses Psychic to guide Twister right at Plusle and Minun.
"Dodge with Quick Attack!" Kairi called out. Plusle and Minun dodges with Quick Attack as Solidad had lost a little bit of points.
"Plusle and Minun avoided that Psychic guided Twister with speed and timing!" Vivian announced.
"Now use Shock Wave!" Kairi ordered. Plusle and Minun uses Shock Wave and it struck both of their opponents, causing some heavy damage and Soledad loses some more points.
"Impressive, Kairi. You have done an excellent job of raising your Pokémon," Soledad said. "Slowbro! Use Yawn on Plusle!" Slowbro opens its mouth and sends out a clear bubble and it struck Plusle. The red cheering Pokémon became drowsy.
"Uh-oh. Plusle is getting sleepy," Elio said.
"That's what happens when Yawn hits its mark," Selene said.
"Let's hope Plusle can stay awake long enough to keep going," Riku said.
"Eevee," Eevee said.
"Plusle! Minun! Both of you use Thunderbolt!" Kairi ordered. Plusle and Minun both fired Thunderbolt and it combines into one big bolt of lightning.
"Plusle and Minun have sent out a beautiful and yet powerful Thunderbolt!" Vivian announced.
"Pidgeot! Heat Wave!" Soledad ordered. Pidgeot unleashes an orange gust of wind. It cancels out Thunderbolt and struck both cheering Pokémon. Kairi had lost some more points after that.
"Soledad is doing a number on Kairi's Plusle and Minun and her points. Kairi should come up something fast or else it's lights out for her!" Vivian announced. The clock was down to less than two minutes. Plusle had fallen asleep due to Yawn taking effect. Kairi had lost some more points. A bubble comes out of Plusle's nose as she slept. Minun popped the bubble and woke up frantically. "Yawn's effect didn't last long because Minun woke its teammate up!"
"Looks like we'll have to end this quick. Slowbro! Hyper Beam!" Soledad ordered. Slowbro fires Hyper Beam right at Plusle and Minun.
"No time to dodge! Plusle! Shock Wave! Minun! Thunderbolt!" Kairi ordered. Plusle and Minun both fired their attacks and they managed to block Slowbro's Hyper Beam. Kairi and Soledad both lose some points in the process.
"Plusle and Minun are blocking Slowbro's Hyper Beam and they both take some points from each other. How long will it go on?" Vivian asked. Slowbro held on as it was starting to get tired from firing Hyper Beam. Plusle and Minun were wlaso starting to get tired. Minun looked at Plusle and she nods. Minun nods back and turns up the juice and pushes Hyper Beam way back and Solidad's points take a devastaing loss. "Plusle and Minun had succeded in pushing back Slowbro's Hyper Beam and has taken a pretty bad hit and so has Soledad's points." Solidad was mighty impressed by Kairi's resolve. Se was one of the few Coordinators who has managed to keep up with her.
"Pidgeot! Sky Attack!" Soledad ordered as Pidgeot's body began glowing.
"Soledad's Pidgeot is taking up energy with less than a minute to spare, she prepares for a Sky Attack!" Vivian announced. Kairi remembered an old trick Sora used on Prince Wesleyan in the finals of the Indigo Plateau and decided to see if that'll work.
"Plusle! Minun! Quick Attack and get on Pidgeot's back!" Kairi ordered. Plusle and Minun jumps onto Pidgeot's back, much to everyone's surprise.
"Now, they're both o Pidgeot's back! What could she be up to?" Vivian asked.
"Thunderbolt!" Kairi ordered. Plusle and Minun gave a double Thunderbolt and shocks Pidgeot greatly. Pidgeot's Sky Attack was pahsed out as Pidgeot has fallen to the ground beaten. The clock runs out as Slowbro is left standing and Kairi is shown to have little bit more than Soledad does.
"Time's up and the winner is Kairi and her Plusle and Minun!" Vivian announced. The crowd cheers as Kairi is moving on in the final round. Harley was dipleased to see that Kairi had won it.
"Dammit! Can nothing stop that girl?!" Harley exclaimed.
"Hey! Shut up!" One spectator shouted. He threw his beer can at his head.
"Ow! Who threw that?" Harley shouted. Solidad walked up Kairi with a smile on her face.
"Concratulations, Kairi. You're one of the few that has ever been able to catch up with me. You have a gift," Solidad said.
"Thank you, Soledad. You almost had me in that battle. I'm honored to battle you," Kairi said.
It was now May versus Drew. May was more inspired by Kairi and decided to give it her all in this match.
"Now, the second to last battle is about to begin! It's May against Drew!" Vivan announced. The crowd cheers hard as the battle between the two rivals.
"This is it. After making it this far, I can't afford to lose this. I'm going to give it everything that I've got in this," May said in her thoughts.
"You only got here by sheer luck and nothing more. And this battle is going to prove it to everyone here," Drew said in his thoughts. "And I have the perfect two Pokémon for this occasion." He took out his two Pokéballs as did May.
"Combusken, Squirtle! Take the stage!" May shouted as both Pokémon made their entrance on the stage.
"Flygon and Absol! Let's go!" Drew shouted as his two Pokémon had come on out to battle.
"Squirtle! Rapid Spin!" May ordered. Squirtle spins around and heads right towards Drew's Pokémon.
"And Squirtle takes off like a tornado!" Vivian announced.
"Now Flygon! Sandstorm!" Drew ordered. Flygon sends out a sand tornado and heads right towards Squirtle.
"No, you don't. Do a combination, Mega Kick, Combusken!" May ordered. Combusken hops on Squirtle's shell and heads right towards Flygon.
"That enormous jump came from bouncing off of Squirtle's huge spin! Look out, Flygon!" Vivian announced. Combusken continues to go for Flygon to land a kick.
"Absol! Use Flash!" Drew ordered. Absol jumps into Flygon's Sandstorm and uses Flash to blind the young fowl Pokémon.
"Absol jumps into Sandstorm while using Flash! Looks like Combusken is stuck tight!" Vivian announced.
"Absol! Use Iron Tail!" Drew ordered. Absol struck Combusken with its tail.
"Combusken!" May gasped.
"That Iron Tail makes a direct hit! I think this is much a ballet as it is a battle!" Vivian announced.
"I'm not done yet! Combusken! Sky Uppercut! Squirtle! Water Gun go!" May ordered. Combusken comes at his opponents as Squirtle fires Water Gun right the opposing Pokémon as well. Combusken jumps as he prepares to launch Sky Uppercut as the Water behind him makes it look like he's behind a beautiful river.
"Beautiful! With a Water Gun behind it, Combusken performs a powerful Sky Uppercut!" Vivian announced. Drew manages to lose a little bit of his points.
"Flygon! Dodge it! Absol! Razor Wind!" Drew called out. Combusken was getting closer to Flygon, but the mystic Pokémon avoids Combusken and Absol unleashes Razor Wind and lands a hit onto Combusken and lands onto Squirtle as well. Combusken and Squirtle took a pretty bad hit as May loses some points as well.
"That Absol is strong," Yuta said.
"And that Razor Wind did a real number on those two," Elio said.
"Come on, May. I know you can do it! I have faith in you!" Brendan said in his thoughts. She could somehow hear Brendan's voice and she imagined him with her. Flygon takes the sky once again.
"Flygon! Flamethrower!" Drew ordered. Flygon fires Flamethrower right towards May's two Pokémon. May wasn't close to calling it quits.
"Fire Spin! Go!" May ordered. Combusken fires Fire Spin to block Flamethrower, but failed as it resulted in an explosion. Combusken and Flygon both took a bad hit.
"And both sides respond with great moves! This battle is like a gigantic seesaw!" Vivian announced.
"Such power and percision! Unbelievable!" Glacia said.
"I agree! I couldn't look away if I tried!" Contesta said.
"Yes! Remarkable!" Suziko added.
"They're giving everything they have and not one is considering defeat an option!" Lisia said.
"It's great how both sides' Pokémon are truly on fire!" Phoebe said.
"And it's an inspiration to Coordinators everywhere!" Lisia said.
"Drew's fast. He's even faster than the first time I took him on! I didn't come here to praise him; I came here to beat him!" May said in her thoughts.
"Flygon, Absol! Dragon Formation!" Drew called out. This confuses May since she never heard of that. Flygon lands behind Absol.
"What he say?" Ventus asked.
"Some kind of formation?" Lillie asked.
"Looks like we're about to find out," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Absol! Razor Wind!" Drew ordered. Absol's horn glows and unleashes it right at Combusken and Squirtle. "Flygon! Dragon Breath, now!" Flygon fires Dragon Breath and it combines with Absol's Razor Wind.
"Now that's an awesome combination of beauty and strength! I think I'm going to rename that move Dragon Razor Wind!" Vivian announced.
"Dodge it, quick!" May called out as Combusken and Squirtle runs to avoid the Dragon Breath and Razor Wind combo. But it struck them both hard. May loses some points for it.
"That combination was so overwhelming May's Pokémon simply had nowhere to go! I think we're all in bit of a shock after that tour de force!" Vivian announced. Kairi and Angel were watching closely.
"Come on, May. I know you can do it," Kairi said in her thoughts.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Looks like Drew's isn't playing 'Mr. Nice Guy' with her anymore," Harley said.
"Let's finish this up with Steel WIng, Flygon, and Iron Tail, Absol! Go!" Drew ordered. Flygon and Absol prepared Iron Tail and Steel Wing and headed towards the two opposing Pokémon, determined to finish this up once and for all.
"May! Counter that!" Brendan shouted, not caring who hears him.
"I know Drew's Pokémon's attacks look super-polished, but we got some pretty good combinations up our sleeves too!" May said in her thoughts.
"This is it," Drew said in his thoughts.
"Alright, Combusken! Fire Spin, now! Squirtle! Use Water Gun!" May ordered. Combusken and Squirtle fired Fire Spin and Water Gun and it combined into a fusion of fire and water. Drew was caught completely off guard.
"Those Fire Spin and Water Gun attacks have been transformed into a magnificent water and fire whirlwind!" Vivian announced. Flygon and Absol were both caught in the whirlwind and took pretty bad damage from the two elements mixing. Drew lost a huge chuck of points once the fire and water whirlwind had subsided.
"I knew she was going to use that combo," Max said. Everyone all looked at May's brother.
"You knew she could do that?" Wally asked.
"It was a total accident when she pulled it off. I was amazed when I saw it with my own eyes. The guy she battled before the Grand Festival was caught by surprise just like I was," Max explained.
"Now that's awesome!" Elio said.
"And beautiful," Lillie added. "Opposing energies melded together and forming a brand new result!"
"Your daughter is just full of surprises. You must be very proud," Mirei said.
"I am. May's doing wonderfully. My husband is probably impressed by that move," Caroline said.
"What can you expect? She's taking everything she's learning so far and putting it to very good use," Riku said.
"She never battled this hard with me! Is she too good to pull off those combinations with me?! I'll ring her neck of hers with that bandana!" Harley yelled.
"That kinda sounds like you're threatening to commit murder," a familiar female voice spoke.
"Yeah? And what's it to yo-" Harley froze when Officer Jenny was standing benhind him. "Officer Jenny. Hello." He sheepishly grins.
"I'm going to forget that you just made that threat if you would just lower your voice," Officer Jenny glared coldly at him and prepares a pair of handcuffs for him Harley chuckles nervously, obviously afraid of going to prison.
"I don't ever remember seeing this kind of fierce back and forth battling before! And now we passed the four minute mark!" Vivian announced.
"Absol! Flash!" Drew ordered.
"Rapid Spin, Squirtle!" May ordered. Absol got ready to use Flash as Squirtle jumps and withdraws into her shell. May and Combusken shieds their eyes as Squirtle spins around.
"That Rapid Spin's protecting Squirtle from Absol's Flash!" Vivian announced.
"Quick, Flygon! Steel Wing!" Drew ordered. Flygon comes down with Steel Wing to strike Squirtle. Flygon sends Squirtle straight up into the air instead. "What the?!"
"Alright!" May said with glee.
"Looks like Squirtle's come out on top!" Sora said.
"Use Ice Beam!" May ordered.
"Absol! Use Razor Wind!" Drew ordered.
"Combusken! Use Fire Spin!" May ordered. Absol fires Razor Wind, but Combusken blocks with Fire Spin, resulting in an explosion. Ice Beam hits its mark and Flygon, being weak against Ice takes a pretty bad hit. Drew's points suffers greatly for it. "Ice Beam, one more time!" Squirtle got close to Flygon and lands an Ice Beam into its face. Flygon had been taken down and out of steam.
"Wow! Flygon is out cold!" Vivian announced.
"Alright!" May cheered.
"Absol! Iron Tail! Go!" Drew ordered. Absol ran towards the tiny turtle Pokémon and lands a brutal Iron Tail onto Squirtle and Squirtle had been taken down.
"Looks like Squirtle's out cold too! Folks, we've now got a one-on-one!" Vivian announceed. Drew and May calls back their fallen Pokémon.
"Squirtle, you were so great," May said kindly.
"Thanks Flygon. You did awesome," Dew said.
"Okay, ladies and gentlemen! Here's your two minute warning!" Vivian announced.
"Combusken! Mega Kick!" May ordered. Combusken comes to land a kick onto Absol.
"Iron Tail!" Drew ordered. Absol comes towards Combusken to land an Iron Tail onto Combusken. Two have collided and each had landed a hit on the other. "Razor Wind!" Absol fires Razor Wind right at Combusken, hoping to finish it busken had taken a pretty bad hit.
"And with astounding speed, Absol fires off multiple hits! With both Iron Tail and Razor Wind, Combusken is bound to be in some trouble!" Vivian announced.
"Come on, Combusken! use Fire Spin!" May ordered. Combusken fires Fire Spin at Absol once again.
"Water Pulse! Go!" Drew ordered.Absol forms a ball of water and sends it towards Combusken. Combusken takes a pretty bad hit from that Water Pulse.
"Oh no!" May gasped.
"That Water Pulse is having a huge effect in Combusken! And Combusken's Fire SPin comes up short!" Vivian announced. May loses some points in the process, but Combusken's body began to give off a red aura.
"Finish this up, Combusken! Use Razor Wind now!" Drew ordered.
"Combusken! Use Fire Blast!" May ordered. Combusken fires a huge Fire Blast attack and heads towards Absol. Absol got hit bad, but Absol is still standing.
"Wow! Combusken must have learned that new move and comes out as Fire Blast. Despite how powerful it is, Absol is still standing!" Vivian announced. "At the moment Drew remains in the lead, but will May be able to catch up to win this?"
"Man, this girl is way better than I remember. She's not the same amatuer she was back then; she's a true Pokémon Coordinator. I see that now. Could it have something to do with Sora and Kairi? Or that Brendan guy?" Drew asked in his thoughts.
"Everything is on the balance. I am not leaving this stadium until I put Drew in his place one and for all," May said in her thoughts. She then spoke out loud, "Combusken! Jump and use another Fire Blast!" Combusken jumps and fires a powerful Fire Blast and heads towards Absol.
"What an overwhelming sight! That Fire Blast is coming down faster and faster!" Vivian annoounced.
"Absol! Use Flash!' Drew ordered.
"Combusken! Go!" May called out.
Absol begins with Flash, but Combusken comes in with a roll and lands a kick onto Absol.
"It's just like Rapid Spin! Combusken keeps spinning and dodging that Flash, and has gotten down into Absol's face!" Vivian announced.
"Now, let's use Fire Blast!" May ordered. Combusken fires Fire Blast and it was pretty powerful right into Absol.
"No time to take a breath! A beautiful Fire Blast causingstraight out of a spin! And it looks like it's Absol's turn to take the hit, and that's what happened!" Vivian announced. Absol extinguished the flames while surrounded by red sparkles in the air. "What a turnaround! Absol's extingusied all of Combusken's flames while taking the most azaming sparkly glow! Quite a display!" May lost a little bit of points. The clock is now down to one minute.
"Absol! use Razor Wind!" Drew ordered. Absol fires another Razor Wind right at Combusken.
"Dodge it, now!" May called out. Combuekn took a bad hit from Absol's Razor Wind. Combusken rolls on the battlefield.
"A perfect Razor Wind hit! And with only less than a minute left on the clock!" Vivian announced. Kairi watches anxiously as she wished for the best from both May and Drew.
"Water Pulse! Go!" Drew ordered. Absol uses Water Pulse to strike at Combusken with opes of fnishing off May. It turns into a huge tidal wave.
"Fire Blast!" May ordered. ombusken fires Fire Blast to block Water Pulse, but the water attack cancels out Combusken's Fire Blast. Combusken took a pretty bad hit.
"A huge hit mid-attack! I guess that Water Pulse means the end of-" Vivian was cut off when Combusken is seen still standing. "Wait a minute! I don't believe it! Combusken is still standing!"
"It's over, May! Quick! Use Iron Tail!" Drew ordered. Absol jumped to use Iron Tail to finish off Combusken. May only grinned.
"You're right, Drew. It is over. And here's the move that's going to end it. Sky Uppercut!" May ordered. Combusken comes running towards Absol with his claw dragging on the ground and sparks coming from it. Drew was shocked to hear May make that statement. Drew lost a little bit of points . Combusken lands a powerful uppercut onto Absol and it costs a little bit of Drew's points. The clock runs out.
"Time's Up! Now the judges will decide who put on a more beautiful and effective battle! Will it be Drew or is it going to be May?" Vivian asked. The judges all saw it was May who has a little bit more than Drew does. "It's a squeaker for sure, but the winner is May, Squirtle, and Combusken! May will be moving on in the final round of the Grand Festival and face off against Kairi!" The crowd cheers for May as she had won it. May's face lit up when she did what she said she was going to do.
After the batttle, May met up with Kairi and sees her smiling. May smiles back at her.
"You've came a long way, May. You made it so far," Kairi said.
"Thanks Kairi. I think I owe it all to you. I guess watching you battle from that first Contest, I became inspiried. But it wasn't just that alone. It was hearing about your adventures in the past taht got me worked up and wanting me to get as strong as you," May said. Kairi shook her head.
"No, May. You did that on your own. Everthing you did to make it this far into the Grand Festival and into the finals was all you. The Ribbons you won and the way you battled with Drew was is all the proof of it. You and your Pokémon gave it everything you and they had," Kairi said.
"She's right, May," Drew spoke up. "I admit, I had my doubts about you, but that battle you gave me was a way of me seeing that I was wrong about you. Kairi never gave up against Soledad and she was nothing to sneeze at. So, you two give it your all." Kairi and May both nodded and they got ready for the final round.
"And now, the stage is set for the final round of the Grand Festival! Only one of these two will be going home with that Ribbon Cup! We shall bare witness to see who will bring home the gold or bring home the silver? From Pallet Town, we have the girl who came out on top in the Poké Maiden Tournament in Johto, and is given the title as the Princess of Heart, Kairi from Pallet Town! And entering on the stage is given the title as the Hoenn Princess, May from Petalburg City!" Vivian announced.
"This is it," Lillie said.
"The final round of the Grand Festival," Riku said.
"Those two have gotten this far, and now only one of them is going to bring home that Ribbon Cup," Wally said.
Back in Alola, eight of the Alolan nine were going to root for Kairi all the way since coming so far from day one. Back to the Mane Seven, Spike, the Kongs, Dingodile, Time Man, Oil Man, Hunter, Bianca, Shiela, Sgt. Byrd, Bentley, and Agent 9, they never took their eyes off the screen once since they began watching it. Team Choatix were glued on the TV as the final battle was about to get started. Back in Pallet Town, Lea was watching the Grand Festival from day one and he hasn't taken his eyes off it since Kairi was in it. Kairi and May looked at each other with smiles and nodded.
"Kairi, I'm looking forward to this match. I'm not going to go easy on you because we're friends," May said.
"I wouldn't have it any other way, May. Just throw everything you got at me and I'll do the same," Kairi said. "May the best trainer win."
"Likewise," May said, giving a high-five and getting into position.
"Now we have a display of sportsmanship and what looks like friendship between the two of them. It doesn't look like even friendship is going to slow these girls down! Now, will the competing Coordinators please choose their Pokémon and begin?" Vivian asked. Kairi took out a Pokéball and looked over to Angel.
"You're up, Angel!" Kairi said.
"Vee!" Angel said as she entered the stage.
"And you're going in too, Togetic!" Kairi called out as Togetic had made his entrance. May takes out her two Pokéballs and threw them.
"Go! Combusken and Bulbasaur!" May called out as Combusken and Bulbasaur made their entrance.
"Kairi is going with Eevee and Togetic while May is going with Combusken and Bulbasaur!" Vivan announced.
"Call me crazy, I think May's arranged this final battle right from the start," Elio said.
"It's possible. A trainer named Edgar pretty much did the same thing with Sora back at the Indigo Plateau," Terra said.
"And I know Ethan did the same back at the Johto Pokémon League," Riku said.
"Yeah. May used Bulbasaur back at the Rubello Contest," Sora said. "I think she wanted it just like that and Combusken since he was May's first Pokémon."
"That makes sense to me, Sora," Caroline said. "May had to be watching your battles closely and she gotten to where she is now."
"And now, May's more determind than ever to win," Brendan said. It was obvious he was rooting for May as Sora was rooting for Kairi, but they had to give them some credit that either one of them will win it or lose it.
"Let's begin the final match!" Vivian announced as the clock starts running.
"Combusken! Begin with Mega Kick! Bulbasaur! Tackle!" May ordered. Combusken and Bulbasaur came at Angel Togetic to land a hit.
"Togetic! Fairy Wind! Angel! Swift!" Kairi ordered. Angel and Togetic fires Swift and they both struck Bulbasaur and Combusken in the mark. "Now use Aerial Ace on Combusken!" Togetic flies and darts himself towards Combusken to land a hit. May lost some points from that.
"Kairi starts things up by landing hits on Combusken and Bulbasaur after that failed Mega Kick and Tackle! A beautiful use of Swift and Fairy Wind!" Vivian announced.
"Combusken! Sky Uppercut on Togetic!" May ordered. Combusken lands a ferice uppercut onto Togetic. Kairi had lost some points as well. "Bulbasaur! use Vine Whip!" Bulbasaur uses Vine Whip and it grabs Togetic and it costs Kairi some more points.
"May is making an early comeback with that Vine Whip following with that Sky Uppercut! How long can those two keep it up?" Vivian asked.
"Angel! Quick Attack on Bulbasaur!" Kairi ordered. Angel ran towards Bulbasaur to land a hit.
"Combusken! Stop Eevee with Fire Spin!" May ordered. Combusken fires Fire Spin with hopes to strike the female Eevee.
Angel ran, but got hit bad with Combusken's Fire Spin.
"Now Eevee has taken a bad hit from Combusken's Fire Spin! And so does Kairi's points!" Vivian announced as Kairi lost some more points.
"Not bad, May. You're doing better than our last battle! Togetic! Use Ancient Power!" Kairi ordered. Togetic forms silver crystalized rocks and sends them right at his targets
"Now Togetic is sending out Ancient Power to its opponets!" Vivian announced.
"Dodge it! Hurry!" May called out. Combusken and Bulbasaur tried to avoid it, but they both got hit bad by Ancient Power. May lost some more points after that.
"May's points suffers for that blow!" Vivian announced.
"Oh no!" May gasped.
"Angel! Use Headbutt on Combusken! Togetic! use Aerial Ace on Bulbasaur!" Kairi ordered. Angel lands a Headbutt on Combusken and Togetic lands an Aerial Ace on Bulbasaur. May lost some points as it was now four minutes.
"Both of our competitors are giving it all they have! Just like the battle between May and Drew, it's a seesaw battle!" Vivian announced.
"Kairi ain't calling it quits once," Meowth said.
"And neither is that other girl. Kairi is giving it everything she's got ther same as her," Kairi's grandmother said. She pets Meowth gently and he purs in appreciation.
"A little more to the right," Meowth said. She obliges him. "That's the spot."
"Combsken! Use Fire Blast!" May ordered. Combusken fires Fire Blast, but Kairi has an ace up her sleeve.
"Togetic! Block with Ancient Power!" Kairi ordered. Togetic blocks Combusken's Fire Blast with Ancient Power and cost May some points.
"Kairi's Togetic blocks Combusken's Fire Blast with Ancient Power! A good use of an offensive attack as a defense!" Vivian announced.
"Angel! Togetic! Swift!" Kairi ordered. Both Angel and Togetic fires Swift and they sparkle like stars in the night sky.
"What a beautiful use of Swift by both Eevee and Togetic!" Vivian announced.
"It's so pretty. It almost makes me want to make a wish!" Lisia beamed.
"Bulbasaur! Block with Razor Leaf! Combusken! Fire Spin!" May ordered. Combusken and Bulbasaur fire their attacks and it blocks Swift. Both Kairi and May lost some points each.
"May makes a comeback by blocking Kairi's Double Swift with Fire Spin and Razor Leaf!" Vivian announced.
"Now go at Togetic with Mega Kick, Combusken! Bulbasaur! Tackle on Eevee!" May ordered.
"Togetic! Aerial Ace on Combusken! Angel! Use Iron Tail on Bulbasaur!" Kairi ordered.
Angel jumped to use Iron Tail on Bulbasaur as Togetic comes to use Aerial Ace on Combusken. The young fowl Pokémon lands a heavy blow on the happiness Pokémon, but Angel lands a successful blow onto Bulbasaur.
"Looks like Kairi had that Iron Tail waiting in reserves," Sora said.
"You knew her Eevee had that move?" Riku asked.
"Yeah. Angel learned it just from watching Pikachu. And he taught her to use it like he does," Sora explained. Pikachu beamed as he watched his girlfriend battle it out.
"Angel." - Pikachu subtitle.
"Angel! Use Quick Attack on Combusken!" Kairi ordered. Angel charges at Combusken to land a hit.
"Dodge and use Mega Kick!" May ordered. Combusken dodges and lands a kick on Angel. Kairi had lost some points.
"Combusken lands a kick on Angel and it's three minutes left!" Vivian announced.
"Togetic! Fairy Wind!" Kairi ordered. Togetic flapped his wings and sends it out to Bulbasaur.
"Bulbasaur! Razor Leaf and Petal Dance!" May ordered. Bulbasaur fires both Petal Dance and Razor Leaf and they collide with Togetic's Fairy Wind.
"Togetic starts up with Fairy Wind as Bulbasaur counters with Razor Leaf and Petal Dance. And what a dazzling disply we're seeing here!" Vivian announced.
"Bring it up!" Kairi called out. Togetic increases the power of his Fairy Wind.
"Bulbasaur! Turn it up!" May called out. Bulbasaur does exactly that as it resulted in an explosion. Both Togetic and Bulbasaur were both taken down.
"And just like that, both Togetic and Bulbasaur had knocked each other out! Now only Eevee and Combusken are left!" Vivian announced. Kairi and May calls Togetic and Bulbasaur back.
"You battled hard, Togetic. Get some rest," Kairi said.
"You did a good job, Bulbasaur. You earned a good long rest," May said.
"Two minutes are left on the clock and both of our finalists are going neck to neck! And judging how they're going, it could go either way!" Vivian announced.
"It's going to go Kairi's way, lady!" Yuta said as he stood up.
"Dear, sit down," Mirei told her husband.
"Sorry, honey," Yuta said.
"I hope you can forgive my husband. He's just so proud of our daughter," Mirei said. Caroline laughed.
"Oh no, it's nothing to fret over. My husband would do the same thing for my daughter," Caroline said.
"Come on, Kairi. I know you got this," Sora said.
"You've got this, May," Brendan said.
"Combusken! Sky Uppercut!" May ordered. Combusken comes at Angel with his claws ready to strike her.
"Angel! Use Quick Attack and follow with Headbutt!" Kairi ordered. Angel ran across the battlefield with her speed.
"Kairi's Eevee is going right at Combusken with speed and strength! This will be a clash of a lifetime!" Vivian announced. Combusken makes the first move, but Angel dodges and lands a hit onto Combusken. May had lost some more points. "And it's Eevee who lands a good clean blow!"
"Now use Swift!" Kairi ordered.
"Fire Spin, Combusken!" May ordered. Combusken fires Fire Spin as the two attacks collides. Swift and Fire Spin holds on as both Kairi and May lost some points with one minute left.
"One minute left and both are still hanging on!" Vivian announced. An explosion occurs as both Angel and Combusken were taken aback. Both were getting tired and not one of them was backing off. Combusken's Blaze ability was kicking in again. "Combusken's Blaze is now activated! Now both Fire Spin and Fire Blast are going to be even more powerful than normal." Kairi knew it was going to be even harder to win it, but she wasn't going to let it stop her.
"Combusken! Fire Blast!" May ordered. Combusken fires Fire Blast right at Angel.
"Dodge it, Angel! Hurry!" Kairi called out. Angel ran to avoid Fire Blast, but the attack came too fast and powerful for her to run. "Angel!"
"Combusken has fired a beautiful Fire Blast and-" Vivian announced as she saw Angel, getting back up, "Eevee is still holding on! Even with Blaze, it wasn't enough to bring Kairi's Eevee down!"
"Angel! Quick Attack!" Kairi ordered. Angel ran towards Combusken with great speed.
"Combusken! Mega Kick!" May ordered. Combusken heads for Angel, ready to land the finishing kick onto her. Angel lands the hit first and Combusken has taken loads of damage and it takes out what was left of May's points. Kairi still had a small sum left. The clock read that there was fifteen seconds left.
"And that's that! With fifteen seconds left on the clock, the winner of the Hoenn region's Grand Festival is Kairi from Pallet Town!" Vivian announced. The crowd cheered hard for Kairi and May after witnessing a fierce battle between the two. May helped her Combusken up and she smiled.
"I guess, it's all over," May said.
"Yes, but you gave it your best. And everyone here knows it," Kairi said.
"I may not have won, but I had a blast battling you," May said.
Drew was impressed by how much effort May was able to put in.
"Way to go, May. You made it to second place; and that's even farther than I have gotten," Drew said.
"I don't believe it! All these people are cheering for May even if she hasn't won?! Is there no justice?!" Harley exclaimed.
Kairi stood with Vivian, May and Drew as Kairi was presented the Ribbon Cup.
"Congratulations, Kairi, for your victory in the Grand Fetival! You will go down in history as your name will be among the previous winners for years to come!" Vivian announced. Lisia places her hand on Kairi's shoulder.
"Kairi, seeing out there brought back a lot of memories. You and your Pokémon should be proud of the effort and work you put in," Lisia said.
"Thank you," Kairi said.
Harley scowled as he witnessed Kairi had recieved the Ribbon Cup. Eight of the Alolan nine were all so proud that Kairi had won it.
"I knew she'll win it!" Hapu cheered.
"Yeah!" Mina said.
"Kairi has come a long way since she got her Togetic from his egg," Kiawe said.
"Yes. Now, the Hoenn Pokémon League shall begin soon. Sora will have to get his game on since he knows winning third in a row won't be so easy," Illima said.
"And he knew winning the Kanto and Johto Leagues wasn't going to be easy either," Mallow said.
"You're all invited to the closing ceremonies at the park tonight. So from the main Stage here in Slateport City I bid you farewell!" Vivian announced.
That night, May sat alone as she wasn't upset that she lost. Kairi shows up with some sea salt ice cream.
"Hi May," Kairi greeted.
"Hi Kairi," May greeted back. Kairi sat down. "Congratulations on winning the Grand Festival."
"Thanks, May. Just know it was loads of fun to compete. I know I some fun," Kairi said. Kairi handed May a bar of the ice cream.
"Is that ice cream?" May asked.
"Try it. It's pretty good," Kairi offered. May took a bite of the ice cream bar and she beaed at how sweet it tasted despite being so salty as well.
"Salty and sweet. Now that's a unusual combination," May said.
"That's what I thought too," Kairi said, taking a bite. "Lea and Isa were the ones who introduced this to us."
"And no wonder," May said, taking a bite. "Anyway, what are you going to do now? The Grand Festival is over and done with."
"Sora still has the Hoenn Pokémon League to attend to. And you're welcome to come along if you like." May smiled at the kind offer.
"Thans a lot, Kairi. I mean it," May said.
"And I know you'll be there for Brendan of course," Kairi said. May blushed at the mention of her crush's name.
"Y-Yeah," May blushed.
"I know you have some feelings about him, but you don't have to tell me if you don't want," Kairi said.
"Actually, I do want to tell you because, I want to get it off my chest. I've been in love with Brendan ever since I was little. I just couldn't bring myself to tell him. What do you think I should do?" May asked.
"It's not my place to say, May. But I think you should tell him if your'e up for it. I'll admit, it wasn't easy for me and Sora before we became a couple. We were afraid that not one of us felt anything for each other and those fears were all for nothing when I finally admitted my feelings for Sora." May understood what she meant.
"I'll do it. I'll tell Brendan my feelings," May said.
"He's with Sora right about now, so get a move one," Kairi said. May nodded and went ot find him.
Over to Sora, he and Brendan were talking with some sea salt ice cream of their own.
"I bet that you're bummed that May didn't win, right?" Sora asked.
"A little, but I'm proud of her," Brendan said. "She hasn't given up even once since the Grand Festival started. Her styles in battle is even more beautiful than I thought." Brendan takes a bite of his ice cream.
"Yeah, that's the same way I feel about Kairi when she decided to be a part of contests. I'd be proud of her even if she didn't win it," Sora said.
"No joke. You're lucky that you have a Top Coordinator as your girlfriend. A Pokémon League Champion and a Grand Festival's Top Coordinator goes well together," Brendan said.
"You would think so. But, the thing about being famous is having some fans chasing after you. That happened to me when we were in Goldenrod City. Those girls were crazy for me," Sora said laughing. Brendan also laughed. "And I can bet you'd wish that between you and May, right?"
"Yeah. May is so beautiful. You think I have a shot with her?" Brendan asked. Sora sees her coming.
"None of my business. You should just see for yourself," Sora said. Brendan was confued. Before he could ask what he meant, May spoke up.
"Brendan?" May asked, making Brendan turn to see her.
"Hi May," Brendan said blushing.
"Say, you don't mind if I take Brendan with me, do you, Sora?" May asked.
"I don't mind. I think I'll go join up with my cousin and his friends. You go and talk," Sora said, taking off.
Over to Team Choatix, they hid in the bushes as they ate some food offered by Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, and the Pichu.
"This is great," Vector said.
"Not as good as Kairi's own cooking, but still good," Charmy said.
Harley was walking by and he hears something.
"What is going on in here?" Harley peaked thorugh the bushes and saw the three Mobians. Espio took out a kunai and looked at him quite threatening.
"Keep on walking if you know what's good for you," Espio said. Halrey didn't say anything and he slowly backed away.
"I must be losing my mind! I could have sworn those three animals were looking at me and one of them spoke," Harley said.
"I talk and you didn't freak out," Meowth said.
"All this losing is doing a number on my psyche," Harley said. A dimesional rfift opens and sucks him in. "Whao!" He ends up in the Kongo Jungle as he regains his posture. "Ow! What the hell was that about?" Just then, several Kremlings all being quadrupled all having yellow stripes on their backs growls at him. They were all blue, red, green, and purple. They were all growling at him like dogs as they were ready to tear him apart. "Nice crocodiles." Harley waved his hands, preparing to take out a Pokéball to battle them when suddenly, he is knocked out from behind. Kludge was the one who punched him at the back of the head.
"Good Klaptrap," Kludge said, taking out some dog treats. The Klaptrap were fighting over the treats as they were barking. He picks up Harley and puts him over his shoulder. "Better put this guy somewhere where he won't be a problem. King K. Rool will decide what to do with him later." Kludge walked off, carrying the stunned Harley.
Kludge threw Harley in a cell as some Kritters searched him and pulled out some Pokéballs.
"Look what we found," one of the Kritters said. Kludge took the Pokéballs and placed them in a chest.
"Keep him locked up until the king decides what to do with him. Also feed him some gruel as soon as he wakes up," Kludge said.
"Yes sir!" Both Kritters said.
Harley was now a prisoner of the Kremlings and he wasn't going to be happy as soon as he wakes up.
Back in Slateport City, May brought Brendan to a private place.
"So, May, why bring me here?" Brendan asked curiously.
"I just wanted us to be alone," May admitted. "You remember when we first met?"
"Yeah, I do. It was when your dad brought you over to my place. It's hard not to remember," Brendan said.
"I told you that you were cute and you blushed up a storm. And then, we started to play together," May said.
"Yep. Also when we got our first Pokémon at the same time is something I can really value than any Gym badge," Brendan said.
"Really?" May asked.
"Yeah. The day we became trainers is a day I will always mark as the best day ever. It's because we got to share it together," Brendan said.
"I'm happy that you think so, because I'm thinking the same thing. And I was happy that you supported me when I decided to become a Pokémon Coordinator," May said.
"Well, because it was your way, not mine. And watching Kairi in that first Contest is pretty much how it started," Brendan said.
"Did you mean that you said that it's better to have me as a friend than a rival, Brendan?" May asked.
"Of course I do. Our paths might have been different, but our goals are the same. Sora, Wally, and I have the Hoenn Pokémon League in Evergrande City. And I plan to go at the top," Brendan said.
"Than, I'll be there to support you," May said.
"Really? Thanks," Brendan said.
"Sora has Kairi's back just like she has his. Becuase of one thing," May said.
"What?" Brendan asked. May was a little nervous, but she had to finally let it out.
"The thing is, Brendan. I love you," May finally admitted. Brendan blushed as he was happy. "I loved you ever since we were little. I thought I should finally tell you."
"That's how I felt about you, May. I love you too," Brendan said. May smiled affetionatley.
"So, if you want, we could go on a date in EVergrande City when I don't have a battle, right?" Brendan offered.
"Anytime," May said. She pressed her lips on Brendan's lips. He returns the kiss when he wraps his arms around May's shoulders. Unknown to them, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, the Pichu, Riku, Naminé, Eevee, Azurill, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Lillie, Elio, Selene, Wally, Drew, Max, and Caroline were watching them. Caroline was crying some tears of joy, having to see her daughter have now has a boyfriend.
"Way to go, May," Kairi said in her thoughts. Brendan and May parted lips. The saw the peanut gallery as most of them all had smiles on their faces; Max's expression was more of a teasing face.
"How long were you standing there?" Brendan asked.
"Just at the kiss," Max said, in a teasing manner. Brendan and May booth blushed. Caroline hugged her daughter tight.
"I am so proud of you, May! You have yourself a loving boyfriend! Next thing you knw, you two will be having loads of babies!" Caroline cried happily. Brendan and May blushed like crazy.
"Mom!" May exclaimed.
"It's way too soon for that!" Brendan said. Wally walked up to Brendan with a smile.
"I gotta admit, that I am happy for the both of you. The truth is, I had a crush on May for a long time," Wally admitted. May looked at her friend.
"Sorry Wally. I don't have any special feelings for you," May said.
"I know. I only want you to be happy. And I can see that you are," Wally said, turning to Brendan. "Take care of her." Brendan nods.
"I will," Brendan said.
"That theroy had been confirmed. I just had to see it for myself. Good luck to the both of you," Drew said. He takes off.
Everyone watches him as he kept on walking. Brendan looked over to Sora and Wally with a determind look on his face.
"Since we all have our Gym Badges, that means that we can all compete in the Hoenn Pokémon League, right?" Brendan asked.
"You know it, Brendan," Sora said. "I planning on giving it everything that I've got," Sora said.
"Me too," Wally said.
They all placed their hands in the center and they looked at each other. They all promised each other a good battle if any one of them ends up paired off with each other. And only one of them will be making it off with the title of Champion. A series of battles in the Hoenn Pokémon will soon begin!
