Episode 278: Bring It All Hoenn!
With the Hoenn Grand Festival behind them, Sora now has the Hoenn Pokémon League to attend to. Seeing his girlfriend earn the title fo Top Coordinator, Sora was even more determind to give it his all in the tournament. Kairi's family were setting off for home as Yuta was carrying the Ribbon Cup in his arms. Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, the Pichu, Riku, Naminé, Eevee, Azurill, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Lillie, Elio, Selene, Brendan , May, Max, and Team Choatix were seeing them off.
"Are you sure you can't accompany us to Evergrande City?" Kairi asked.
"We have some things to do at home, but we'll be watching you from home and giving you all our support," Kairi's grandmother said.
"Aslo, someone has to make sure this makes it home safe," Yuta said.
"Just know that we're mighty proud of you, honey," Mirei said. She gave her daughter a hug.
"Thank you, mom," Kairi said. "And thank you, dad, grandma."
"You are welcome, dear," Kairi's grandmother said.
"Just do your best, Sora," Yuta said.
"I will," Sora said.
"Hey, you know, me and Wally will be there too!" Brendan said.
"Don't let your ego get the best of you, Brendan," May said to her boyfriend. Brendan chuckled.
"Good luck, future son-in-law," Mirei said in her thoughts. They took off on the ship bound for the Kanto region as everyone all headed to find a ship bound for Evergrande City. It turns out that Lisia is joining them.
"Hi there, everyone," Lisia greeted.
"Hey Lisia," Kairi greeted.
"What brings you here?" Sora asked.
"I thought I would accompany you over to the opening ceremonies. Also, Steven and my uncle are going to be there," Lisia said.
"It's nice to have you with us," Kairi said.
Everyone got aboard as they headed for Evergrande City for the opening ceremony of the Hoenn Pokémon League. Sora exchanged Aggron, Flygon, Sceptile, Swampert, and Blaziken for Mudsdale, Mimikyu, Turtonator, Vikavolt, and Farfetch'd. Sora decided to have some more training done since he wants to be on top of his game.
Brendan's Pokémon, consisting of his Sceptile and Charmeleon, along with a Donphan, a Metagross, a Salamence, and a Hariyama were getting some training done as well.
Wally had take out his Gallade, Roserade, Delcatty, Altaria, Magnezone, and Azumarill got into the mix.
In the Alola region, Illima and his Bewear were out picking some berries when he suddenly saw something that caught his eye.
"What could this be?" Illima saw some unsual looking footprints. He followed the footprints and he stumbled on the group, staying put and watching an event on TV. Dingodile was about to prepare his leaf blower when Bewear came in and grabbed him.
"Oi! Lemme go, ya giant carnival prize!" Dingodile shouted.
"Let him go!" Bentley demanded.
"Wait a minute, Bentley! Cool yer jets, partner," Applejack said. Illima recognized her voice.
"Applejack?" Illima asked. The cowgirl looked at the Normal Type trainer.
"How did y'all know mah name?" Applejack asked.
"Ooh, you think he's psychic?" Pinkie Pie asked, making Illima laugh.
"Not really, Pinkie," Illima said. He looked at the rest. "I also know the rest of you. Fluttershy, Twilight, Rainbow Dash, and Rarity." He looked at the dog in Fluttershy's arms. "And Spike?"
"Wait a minute, you know all our names? How?" Spike asked. Sunset Shimmer took Illima by the hands and she looked into his memories. Starting up from the day he met Sora and Kairi along with the rest. The memories fast forward to when Sora won the Indigo Plateau, to when he and the rest of the Alolan nine ended up in Equestria, then into Earthland, right to when Kairi met her parents again, to when Sora won the Johto Pokémon League, to when they departed for Alola for them to begin to set up their own Gyms. She lets go of him.
"I'll tell you how. He was with Sora and Kairi, the same two who Princess Twilight told us about. He's Illima," Sunset Shimmer said.
"You're kidding!" Rainbow Dash said.
"That explains how he know our names," Twilight said.
"So, who are you? I don't think we met," Illima said,
"RIght. I'm Sunset Shimmer," she introduced. Illima gasped in realization.
"Sunset Shimmer? You were Princess Celestia's student before Twilight, weren't you?" Illima asked.
"Yes. Celestia probably told you some things," Sunset Shimmer said.
"Yes. The princess did share a story about how you became dishonest and selfish when you did not get what you wanted in the aount of time you were with her. But, she told us how Twilight was able to turn you around. And I'll have to guess that you were a unicorn, yes?" Illima asked.
"Yes. That's exactly it," Sunset Shimmer said. "I'm just surprised that you hadn't been turned into ponies."
"You would not believe the stares we received from the ponies," Illima said. He looked at the other otherwordly visitors. "And who are they?"
"You haven't been introduced properly. THey were with us when we got here," Sunset Shimmer said.
"I'm Time Man."
"The name's Oil Man."
"I'm Chunky Kong and this is my little brother, Kiddy Kong. Say hello, Kiddy," Chunky said.
"Eee, eee, eee!" Kiddy Kong said.
"I'm Tiny Kong."
"I'm Lanky Kong."
"The name's Hunter."
"I'm Bianca."
"Shiela's the name."
"Sgt. James Byrd, reporting for duty."
"Bentley."
"I go by Agent 9, exterminator of Rhynoc scum!"
"And you already met Dingodile," Sunset Shimmer said.
"G'day, mate!" Dingodile said.
"Perhaps, you should all come with me. There are some people who are bound to meet you," Illima said.
They all knew they were going to freak some people out, but they had to risk it since they needed to know more about where they are.
Back in Hoenn, the ship had finally arrived in Evergrande City where the Hoenn Pokémon League was being held.
"There it is, everyone. Evergrande City," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"You think you're going to be in for thirds, Sora?" Charmy asked.
"You kidding, Charmy? Sora is going to win it, just like he did at Kanto and Johto," Ventus said.
"It may not be easy, Ven," Espio said.
"He's right, Ven. Sora will have to work really hard if he wants to make it all the way to the finals," Terra said.
"And he knows it's not going to be easy. Don't forget that Kairi had worked hard to make it all the way to the championship at the Grand Festival," Aqua said.
During the cruise, Kairi filled Lisia in about Team Choatix being from Mobius and how they got in their world. Lisia was shocked when she saw them at first, but she figured it was so like them to help out some people, rather if they were human or not. Lisia was also told about how Dr. Eggman and him turning everyone into a machine.
"And I thought Team Magma and Team Aqua were bad enough," Lisia said.
"Tell me about it. Their friends on Mobius are probably working on a way to get them back home," Kairi said.
"You and Sora are truly made for each other. You both have hearts of gold. Of course, that's why Sora is nicknamed Kingdom Hearts and you're nicknamed the Princess of Heart," Lisia said. Kairi blushed at the nickname.
The ship arrived to the dock as everyone had departed fro the ship. Everyone all looked around as they take in the sights of the city.
"Look at this place. It's huge," Meowth said.
"We could end up getting lost if we don't look where we're going," Wally said.
"Yeah, we might," Sora said. He turned to his cousin and took him by the hand. "Stay close to me, Ven."
"Okay, okay," Ventus said.
They reached the Pokémon Center as several Nurse Joys from all around go around as well as many Officer Jennys. Team Chaotix were shocked to see so many Nurses and police officers of the same name and face. Sora, Brendan, and Wally all registered for the Hoenn Pokémon League tournament.
Back on Alola, Illima introduced the others to the otherworldly visitors as they explained that they're on a rescue mission to save King Dedede and looking for Spyro to help with the rescue. Seven of the Alolan nine were thrilled to meeting the human verisons of the Mane Six and meeting Sunset Shimmer for the first time.
"Now, that's something," Sophocles said.
"That explains a lot," Kiawe said.
"And when we got here, we had no idea where we were, until we heard about Sora being a Pokémon League Champion," Sunset Shimmer said.
"She filled us in on who he is and he knows the other Twilight," Hunter said.
"Since you've been here, you didn't watch the Grand Festival, did you?" Lana asked.
"Oh, we certainly did, darling. Watching Kairi perform was devine," Rarity said.
"And fun!" Pinkie added.
"Also awesome!" Rainbow Dash said.
"That's what I was thinking too," Sophocles said.
"Yeah," Mina said.
"So, we were thinking maybe, he might be able to help us out," Twilight said.
"But, it might be best if we wait until after the Hoenn Pokémon League, since it's getting closer to start," Rainbow Dash said.
"You just want to watch it, right?" Applejack asked. Rainbow Dash blushed as she chuckled.
"You're welcome to watch it with us. Sora could use some more support from some friends; old and new," Sophocles said.
"Darn tootin'," Hapu said.
Back in Evergrande City, Sora was doing some training for his first battle. Kairi, Angel, Meowth, the Pichu, Ventus, Terra, and Aqua were watching him practce.
"Okay, Turtonator! Flamethrower!" Sora ordered. Turtonator fired Flamethrower as Morrison runs after his sandwich.
"Hey, wait, Turtonator! Don't burn my sandwich!" Morrison shouted.
"Morrison?" Sora asked. "Turtonator! Cease fire! Cease fire!" It was too late. Morrison got burned and his sandwich got reduced to ashes. Sora ran up to Morrison, concerned for him. "You okay, Morrison?"
"Yeah. Don't worry about the sandwich. I'll just make another one later," Morrison said. He sees Sora in front of him. "Hey! Sora! Good to see you!"
"Good to see you!" Sora said. Kairi walked up to the boys.
"Glad you got here," Kairi said.
"You too, Kairi," Morrison said. He sees Turtonator, Vikavolt, Mudsdale, Mimikyu, and Farfetch'd there. "Hey! Are all these yours?"
"Yep. Trained all well for this," Sora said.
"That's a great collection of Pokémon! A Mudsdale, a Vikavolt, a Mimikyu, a Turtonator, and a Farfetch'd!" Morrison said.
"Yeah, they're really cool," Ventus said, walking up to Sora.
"So, who's this? Your little brother, Sora?" Morrison asked.
"He's my cousin. His name's Ventus," Sora introduced.
"Call me Ven," Ventus said.
"Nice to meet you, Ven," Morrison said, rubbing his hair.
"And we're with him. My name is Aqua," she introdued.
"And I'm Terra," he introduced.
"Good to meet you," Morrison said.
"What Pokémon do you have with you?" Ventus asked. Morrison chuckled.
"The best there is," Morrison said, taking out all of his Pokéballs and letting them all out. "Come out, everyone!" Morrison's Beldum, Swampert, Gligar, Growlithe, Girafarig, and Steelix.
"So cool! A Beldum, a Gligar, a Girafarig, a Growlithe, a Swampert, and a Steelix!" Ventus beamed.
"They all look like they've been trained and raised very well," Terra said.
"Hey, what do you expect? I didn't come all this way to have a good time. I came here to win!" Morrison said.
"You have to knock out the rest of the competition before you do that," Sora told him.
"How about a race to see who's faster?" Morrison challenged.
"Don't you have registrations to complete first?" Sora asked.
"Huh? Registration? What do you mean?" Morrison asked.
"He means that you got less than a half hour to register into the League or else you won't be to qualify to participate," Kairi said. Morrison screamed as he realized his time is fastly running out.
"Crap! I gotta get down there!" Morrion exclaimed as he calls his team back raced down to the Pokémon Center to register quickly.
"He sure can run fast," Ventus said.
"Is he always like this?" Aqua asked.
"He wouldn't be if he had a chill pill," Meowth said.
At the Pokémon Center, Morrison managed to register for the tournament. Morrison was introduced to Riku, Naminé, Lillie, Brendan, Wally, May, Max, Lisia Elio, and Selene after he registered. Lillie told Morrison that she and her eight other former classmates traveled with Sora and Kairi throughout the Kanto and Johto regions.
"Man, you guys had quite an adventure," Morrison said.
"We caught ourselves some Pokémon along the way," Sora said.
"Say, how did the Grand Festival go?" Morrison asked.
"It was awesome. Just so you know, Kairi won it," Sora said.
"Course, you'd say that since it was your girlfriend down there," Riku said.
"Wouldn't you if Naminé wass down there?" Sora asked.
"He does have a point, Riku," Naminé said.
"Azurill," Azurill chirped.
"Congrats on winning the Grand Festival, Kairi," Morrison said.
"Thanks Morrison. May put up quite a fight," Kairi said.
"But I won't give up that easily. I'll be a Top Coordinator some day. But, right now, I'm here rooting for my boyfriend," May said. Brendan places his hand around May's shoulder.
"Thanks, babe," Brendan said.
"So, that means, you got yourslef two more rivals," Sora said.
"Anyway, how is the tournament gonna go down?" Ventus asked. Lillie took out the guidebook, explaining the rules of the tournament.
"According to this, the tournament's preliminaries starts off as a sudden death match. Meaning each trainer will be using one Pokémon each. One win is required to advance further. The next rounds will be consisted on double doubles. That battle is over when both of either Pokémon is unable to keep going. Three wins will advance you further. The next ones shall be normal battles in which trainers will be using three Pokémon each. Just like before, the battle is over when all three of eliminated. Three wins will advance you even further. And finally, there are the final rounds. In those, the top 32 trainers will be using all six of their Pokémon. In addition, there will be a field consisting of rock, ice, water, and grass. When half of either trainer's Pokémon had been taken down, the field will be going through a change and it shall resume when all of either trainer's Pokémon are unable to battle. When most of the competition has been eliminated, the final two trainers will advance to the final stadium and when a winner is decided, the winner's trophy is rewarded to the victor," Lillie explained.
"Wow, that's something," Wally said.
"So, let's give it all we got tomorrow," Sora said.
"I'm with you, Sora. I'm hoping you guys are going to make it through the preliminaries just so I can battle you in the qualifying rounds," Brendan said.
"You are so on, Brendan!" Morrison said.
"Yeah!" Sora, Brendan, Wally, and Morrison all agreed. They all placed theirhands in the center and promised each other a good battle when their pinned against each other.
It was the day that the tournament was about to begin with the prelimnaries. Sora, Brendan, Wally, and Morrison entered the satium ready to give it their all. Kairi, Angel, Meowth, the Pichu, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Lillie, Elio, Selene, May, Max, Lisia, and Team Choatix all sat in the stands to watch the battles. Team Chaotix wore their disguises as they didn't want to draw attention to themselves. Wally was going on first as he chose his Gallade as his opponent chose a Darmanitan.
"Darmanitan! Begin with your Fire Fang!" The traier ordered. Darmanitan came at Gallade with a its teeth emitting fire.
"Gallade! Dodge and use Night Slash!" Wally ordered. Gallade's forearm emits a shadowy aura and swipes at Darmanitan. "Now use Psycho Cut!" Gallade comes at Darmanitan with its forearm, glowing with a psychonetic force.
"Dodge and use Fire Fang!" The trainer ordered. Darmanitan avoids Gallade's attack and lands a Fire Fang onto Gallade. "That was awesome! Now use Flare Blitz!" Darmanitan came at Gallade with a full forcce of its body, ready to strike at Darmanitan.
"Gallade! Use Psychic!" Wally ordered. Gallade uses Psychic to stop Darmanitan and send it flying against a wall, earning a knockout. The referee raises the green flag.
"Darmanitan is unable to battle! Gallade wins! Wally wins the battle!" The referee announced.
"I knew you would do it, Gallade!" Wally praised.
"Lade!" Gallade said.
"Way to go, Wally!" Sora cheered.
Next is Morrison and he using his Beldum as his opponent is going with his Electabuzz. The battle Beldum was in wasn't going in his favor.
"Go, Beldum! Take Down!" Morrison ordered. Beldum comes at Electabuzz with the full force of its body. His opponent laughs.
"That's perfect! The same attack again! Get ready for another Take Down!" The trainer said. Electabuzz's trainer waited for Beldum to get close enough. "This is almost too easy! Go, Electabuzz! Protect!" Electabuzz creates a protective barrier around itself and Beldum's Take Down bounces off.
"Baldum! You're not hitting hard enough!" Morrison exclaimed. Beldum gets back up.
"Beldum doesn't seem to have enough power," May said.
"It's not exactly easy if Take Down is the only attack it knows," Max said.
"That's a bummer," Meowth said.
"I'm not going down that easily! Take Down again, Beldum!" Morrison ordered. Beldum charges at Electabuzz again.
"Ha! Another Take Down attack? You sure know how to stick with something when it's ineffective! Electabuzz! Protect again!" The trainer ordered. Electabuzz uses Protect again and the attack bounces off. Beldum is reflected again.
"Take Down isn't working," Espio said.
"There's other choice," Lillie said.
"Our turn now, Electabuzz! Thunder Punch!" The trainer ordered. Electabuzz comes at Beldum and lands an electrifeid punch onto Beldum.
"Beldum!" Morrison gasped. Beldum had taken some heavy damage.
"Morrison's going to have to get a lot more power out of that one attack if it's ever going overcome Electabuzz and its Protect," Terra said.
"Beldum! Take Down, full power!" Morrison ordered. Beldum launches itself once again to land a hit onto Electabuzz. His opponent wasn't worried and laughed again.
"Well, that's nice. We were about to attack, but you're saving us the toruble of coming over there to get you. Electabuzz! Protect!" Electabuzz makes a prtective barrier once again and Beldum holds on. "Okay, okay, okay, this is going to be cool! Quick Attack! Go!" Electabuzz uses its speed attack to push Beldum back and go against the wall.
"Get up! Hit it with Take Down, Beldum!" Morrison ordered. Beldum breaks out of Electabuzz's hold and comes at the electric Pokémon once again.
"Wow, this is sweeter than a candy cane! Electabuzz! Thunderbolt!" The trainer ordered. Electabuzz lands an electrified shock onto the iron ball Pokémon. Beldum lands into the soil.
"Don't let 'em throw you around like that, Beldum! Get up!" Morrison ordered. Beldum gets back up and ready to go at it again.
"Okay, okay, okay! I've never seen anyone quite so determined to lose before! But this time when I hit you, you're going to wish you never got back up! Electabuzz! Thunder Punch! Go!" The trainer ordered. Electabuzz jumped and charged up its han to land an electrified punch onto Beldum with hopes of finishing it off.
"Beldum! Stay strong!" Morrison shouted. Beldum then started to evolve much to everyone's surprise. "What's happening?"
"Okay, okay, okay, what's this?" The trainer asked.
"Wow! Look at that!" Elio said.
"What's going on?" Vector asked.
"Beldum's starting to evolve!" Meowth said.
"Now that's cool!" Ventus said.
"Sweet!" Charmy said.
Beldum had evolved into a Metang. Everyone was at awe at the sudden evolution.
"Beldum had just evolved into a Metang!" Max said.
"That means, Metang has learned some new attacks after evolving," Selene said.
"Wow, Beldum evolved for me right when I needed it the most. Ha! Hope you're ready for this!" Morrison shouted.
"Oh boy. Oh well, the bigger they are, the harder they fallafter an Electabuzz Thunder Punch, right?" The trainer taunted. Electabuzz comes at the newly evolved Metang with Thunder Punch coming at it.
"Now, slow it down with your Confusion, Metang!" Morrison ordered. Metang uses Confusion to stop Electabuzz in its tracks.
"Aah! Not good!" The trainer gasped.
"Go, Metang! Show them the real power of a Take Down!" Morrison ordered. Metang sets its claws like they were exhaust pipes and launches itself right at the electric Pokémon with the full force of its body. Take Down had become so much stronger after evolving. Electabuzz had been taken down.
"ELECTABUZZ!" The trainer gasped. The referee rasies the green flag.
"Electabuzz is unable to battle! Metang wins! The winner of the battle is Morrison!" The referee announced. The crowd cheers hard for Morrison.
"Ah yeah!" Morrison cheered.
"Aw, man," the trainer groaned.
"Nice one, Morrison! Way to bounce back!" Sora praised.
"Pika, Pika!" Pikachu said.
"That was pretty good, huh? Of course, it's really no surprise is it, with all my talent?" Morrison asked.
"Brendan is up next," Sora said.
"Yeah, I know he'd win if I root for him," Morrison said.
Brendan was up against a female trainer with a Claydol as Brendan had sent out his Sceptile.
"Looks like it's Sceptile against a Claydol," Naminé said.
"Should be a good matchup since Sceptile is a Ground Type," Max said.
"It should, unless Claydol knows Ice Beam, then Brendan will have some trouble coming his way," Lillie said.
"Sceptile! Begin with Leaf Blade!" Brendan ordered. Sceptile comes at the clay doll Pokémon, ready to strike it.
"Claydol! Dodge and use Ice Beam!" The trainer ordered. Blaydol avoids Sceptile and fires Ice Beam right at Sceptile.
"Dodge it with Quick Attack!" Brendan ordered. Sceptile avoids Ice Beam and it struck the ground instead. "Now, use Leaf Storm!" Sceptile fires Leaf Storm right at Claydol.
"Dodge and use Signal Beam!" The trainer ordered. Claydol avoids Sceptile's Leaf Storm and fires Signal Beam right at the forest Pokémon. It lands a hit.
"Don't take that laying down! Come at with Leaf Blade!" Brendan ordered. Sceptile comes at Claydol with another Leaf Blade.
"I don't think so! Ice Beam!" The trainer ordered. Claydol fires Ice Bea again.
"Dodge it!" Brendan called out and avoids Ice Beam with great speed. Sceptile lands a heavy hit onto Claydol. "Now use Leaf Storm!" Sceptile fires Leaf Storm and it struck Claydol, causing some heavy hits from the leaves. "Now use Seed Bomb!" Sceptile fires Seed Bomb and it lands a hit onto Claydol. Claydol lands onto the ground all beaten from the attacks it endured. The referee raises the green flag.
"Claydol is unable to battle! Sceptile is the winner! Brendan wins the battle!" The referee announced.
"I knew you'd win, Brendan!" May cheered. Brendan bushed as he waved to his girlfriend.
A series of battles raged on as trainers from left to right went on. It was until it was Sora's turn. He was going to with Pikachu as atrainer, dressed a karate outfit with a Hitmonlee.
"The next battle is between Sora and Gilbert!" The referee announced. The crowd cheered as many of Sora's fans all cheered. Many of them were girls as they all were all lovestruck by him.
"You can do it, Sora!" Ventus cheered.
"Give it all you've got, Sora!" Kairi cheered.
"Eevee!" Angel cheered. Pikachu looked back to Angel and he wanted to dedicate it to her.
"Pichu, Pi!" The two Pichu cheered.
"And begin!" The referee called out.
"Go in, Pikachu!" Sora called out.
"Pika!" Pikachu said.
"Go, Hitmonlee!" Gilbert shouted as Hitmonlee moved in to battle. Both ran towards each other. "Hitmonlee! Rolling Kick!" Hitmonlee performs a roundhouse kick.
"Iron Tail!" Sora ordered. Pikachu ran pass Hitmonlee as Rolling Kick had missed much to Gilbert's frustration. "Now, strike!" Pikachu lands an Iron Tail right into Hitmonlee's side. Hitmonlee hits the ground hard.
"Perfect!" Riku said.
"Eevee!" Eevee said.
"Pikachu is much stronger than I remeber," Lisia said.
"Hitmonlee! High Jump Kick!" Gilbert ordered. Hitmonlee jumps into the air to deliever a kick into the air.
"Dodge it with Quick Attack, Pikachu!" Sora ordered. Pikachu uses his speed back attack to avoid being kicked before Hitmonlee strikes the wall in front of him, causing some serious damage.
"What was that? Why is Hitmonlee hurt like that?" Vector asked.
"That was High Jump Kick. When a Pokémon with that move misses its mark, it takes damage from that as a result," Lillie said.
"Something that powerful can also hurt you, huh? That's both good and bad to have," Espio said.
"I can't take the chance with another High Jump Kick. It might miss again. So instead," Gilbert said in his thoughts.
"Stay on your toes, Pikachu!" Sora said.
"Why isn't Sora going with his Electric attacks?" Ventus asked.
"Maybe Sora was relying too heavily on Pikachu's electricity and decided to have Pikachu go at it, all natural. Let's hope it gets in his favor or it might cost him if he doesn't use it carefully," Riku said.
"Okay Pikachu! Quick Attack!" Sora ordered. Pikachu charges towards Hitmonlee again.
"Hitmonlee! Mega Kick!" Gilbert ordered. Hitmonlee lands a stomping kick onto Pikachu, but the pain from Hitmonlee's High Jump Kick takes its toll on him.
"Iron Tail!" Sora ordered. Pikachu uses his tail to soften the landing. It creates adust cloud. Both trainers waited anxiously to see who was still standing. Hitmonlee was smacked by Pikachu's tail in the face and fell to the ground, beaten.
"Hitmonlee is unable to battle! Pikachu wins! The victory goes to Sora!" The referee announced. The crowd cheers as Sora had won the his way in the preliminary round.
The preliminaries had ended. Sora, Brendan, Wally, and Morrison have qualified for the main event. Sora's reputaion as champoin from the previous Pokémon Leagues may or may not be enough to keep him going, but he wasn't going to down that easily as the rest of the competition is about to find out. Sora is given the honor of lighting the official flame of the tournament. Delia, Professor Oak, Lea, Isa, and Kairi's family watches with pride. Over in Alola, eight of the Alolan nine, the Mane Seven, Spike, the Kongs, Time Man, Oil Man, Dingodile, Hunter, Bianca, Shiela, Sgt. Byrd, Bentley, and Agent 9 all watch as the tournament has officially begun. Elsewhere, Drew was watching with interest since Kairi had won the Grand Festival.
