Episode 279: Hoenn Double Header!
The Hoenn Pokémon League has begun as Sora was prepared tfor the qualifying tournament. Sora, Brendan, Wally, and Morrison were determined to make it all the way. The qualifying rounds are all double battles, athen the next round will be three-on-three battles.
Just then Tai, Kari, and their friends had all just arrived.
"Sora! Kairi!" Kari called out.
"Guys!" Sora said.
"Sorry we're late. Should have come sooner," Joe said.
"Don't worry about it, guys. Just glad you could come," Sora said,
"So, you made it through the preliminary round, Ketchum?" Tai asked.
"Sure have," Sora said.
"And congratulations on winning the Grand Festival, Kairi," Sara said.
"Thank you, everyone," Kairi said.
"That means a lot," Sora said.
"Takato, Takuya, and the others all arrived earlier, so they're here to give you support," Matt said.
"No surprise," Sora said.
"The same for Yugi and all his other friends. They wanted to congratulate Kairi on the Grand Festival," TK said.
"I'll be sure to tell them that I appreciate it when I see them," Kairi said.
"So, when does the battles start?" Davis asked.
"We don't know yet, we're about to find out," Sora said. Sora, Kairi, Tai, Kari, and their friends to see whose against who in the first battle. They joined up with the others as the pairings was about to begin.
"Good of you to join us," Morrison said.
"Just bumped into some more friends," Sora said, gesturing to the group with the couple.
"Wow, you sure a lot of friends. I bet I can make more than you," Morrison challenged. Sora just laughed as he came up with a challenge.
"I bet I can hold my breath longer than you," Sora joked.
"Oh, you're on!" Morrison said as he inhaled. He held his breath for quite a while.
"Morrison, I was joking! I was joking!" Sora said. He exhales as he gained his breath.
"I knew that," Morrison said.
"Now, we're going to see whom shall make it in and who won't," Sora said.
"Pika," Pikachu said.
"Let's keep our fingers crossed," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
The battles had been arranged as everyone is paired off. Morrison was having the first battle in Stadium E as Sora's is the third battle in Stadium C. Brendan's is having his battle second on Stadium B and Wally's is the fourth on Stadium A.
The crowd gathers in Staium E as Morrison's battle was about to begin. The crowd starts cheering as Sora sat with his the rest of the group as Ventus was eating a cheeseburger with much delight.
"This is great. Dad's burgers are better, but this is good too," Ventus said. Vector was enjoying it as well.
"This is the best cheeseburger I have ever eaten," Vector said.
"Who do you think Morrison is up against first?" Elio asked.
"I heard it's a bodybuilder who goes by the name of Gavin. Not only that, but the Pokémon he has with him are nothing to cough at. He takes pride into his muscles and his Machamp. According to this, he came in first in the Mr. Heavyweight Pokémon three years in a row," Terra read.
"So, it's another muscle head entering the ring," Meowth said.
"That's one way of putting it," Riku said.
"First up, ladies and gentlemen, give a warm welcome to Morrison from Verdanturf Town!" The announcer announced as the crowd cheered.
"Thank you! I'm ready to roll!" Morrison shouted.
"And challenging Morrison will be Gavin from Danda Town! Give him a hand!" The announcer announced. Gavin laughs as he looked right at Morrison.
"Prepare yourself, young man, to be crushed by all of my enormous rippling muscles!" Gavin called out as he flexed his muscles.
"Even using half of those muscles, he'd squish me like a bug that I am," Charmy said.
"He would if it was a wrestling match," Meowth said.
"Terra wasn't kidding when he said this guy takes pride in his muscles," Brendan said.
"Let's see how Morrison lasts against this guy," Sora said.
"In the qualifying tournament, all battles are double battles. Let's listen for the Pokémon picks!" The announcer announced. Morrison takes out his two Pokéballs and throws them.
"Now, Growlithe, Gligar! I choose you!" Morrison shouted as his Growlithe and Gligar both make their entrance on the battlefield. Gavin took out his two Pokéballs and threw them.
"Marowak and Machamp! Let's go!" Gavin shouted as his two Pokémon make their appearence on the battlefield.
"They have made their picks! Morrison with his Growlithe and Gligar and Gavin with his Marowak and Machamp!" The announcer announced.
"I've promised these muscles of mine that we will win!" Gavin said, flexing his muscles.
"Well, you better let them know, that we're going to win!" Morrison counted by flexing his own muscles.
"And begin!" The referee called out.
"Begin with Flame Charge on Marowak, Growlithe!" Morrison ordered. Growlithe charges at Marowak with its body surrounded by flames. Growlithe lands a blow onto Marowk.
"Growlithe starts right out with a red-hot Flame Charge!" The announcer announced.
"Hang in there, Marowak! Use Headbutt!" Marowk jumps on Growlithe's back as Growlithe kept running. Marowak places its bone over Growlithe's neck and lands a Headbutt on Growlithe.
"Marowak fights back with a Headbutt!" The announcer announced.
"Go, Gligar! Use Guillotine on Machamp!" Morrison ordered. Gligar swoops down to deiliever Guillotine on the superpower Pokémon.
"Use your Karate Chop, Machamp!" Gavin ordered. Machamp jumps and uses Karate Chop to block Gligar's Guillotine.
"This is some fiere head-to-head combat between Gligar and Machamp with their strengths matched almost perfectly!" The announcer announced. Growlithe slides on the ground after taking Marowak's Headbutt.
"Growlithe! Use Flamethrower! Let's go!" Morrison ordered. Growlithe fires Flamethrower right at its target.
"Use Bone Club!" Gavin ordered. Marowak uses its bone to block out Growlithe's Flamethrower.
"Marowak's spinning Bone Club keeps that Flamethrower in check!" The announcer announced.
"Machamp! Dynamic Punch!" Gavin ordered. Machamp comes at Gligar with Dynamic Punch and lands a successful hit.
"Gligar! Oh no!" Morrison gasped.
"Follow up with Cross Chop!" Gavin ordered. Machamp crosses its arms and comes at Gligar and lands another hit.
"Two attacks in a row! Dynamic Punch right into Cross Chop!" The announcer announced.
"Oh man, that's gotta hurt," Ventus said.
"Gavin isn't messing around," Aqua said.
"Morrison isn't messing around either. He just needs to get his head in the game," Sora said.
"Gligar! Fight back with Steel Wing!" Morrison ordered. Gligar comes down with Steel Wing/ Gligar came down with blinding speed. It successfully lands a perfect hit.
"Morrison sends back a little wake-up call! This battle is anything but over!" The announcer announced.
"Marowak! Use Bonmerang on Growlithe, now!" Gavin ordered. Marowak throws its bone right at Growlithe and the puppy Pokémon got hit hard.
"Growlithe gets hit by Marowak's Bonemerang! Super effective!" The announcer announced. Gavin laughs again.
"Where's muscle now?" Gavin taunted.
"Right here!" Morrison countered. "Growlithe! Use Flamethrower on Marowak!" Morrison ordered. Growlithe unleashes Flamethrower once again.
"Marowak! Charge into the flames!" Gavin ordered. Marowak does exactly that as it bulldozes through Growlithe's Flamethrower without any problems.
"No way! It can't be!" Morrison gasped.
"Now! Headbutt!" Gavin ordered. Marowak lands a clean Headbutt on Growlithe. "Follow up with Ice Beam, Marowak!" Marowak fires Ice Beam right at Growlithe and freezes Growlithe's right hind leg. Growlithe began to struggle to get loose from the ice.
"Growlithe struggles desperately to break free from that Ice Beam!" The announcer announced.
"Alright Marowak! Bone Club! Let's go!" Gavin ordered. Marowak smacks Growlithe with its bone, causing some heavy damage and shattering the ice.
"That red-hot Bone Club frees Growlithe from the Ice Beam, whether Morrison likes it or not!" The announcer announced.
"Machamp! Time for Vital Throw!" Gavin ordered. Machamp grabs Gligar and gave the fly scorpion Pokémon such a violent throw.
"Machamp's Vital Throw sends Gligar flying!" The announcer announced.
"Gligar! Use Guillotine on Machamp!" Morrison ordered. Gligar comes at Machamp with such speed and lands a hit onto Machamp.
"Gligar comes roaring back with a Guillotine!" The announcer announced. Gavin wasn't enjoying this one bit as he growls in anger.
"Why you little! Marowak! Bonemerang on Growlithe!" Gavin ordered. Marowak throws its bone right at Growlithe once again.
"Flamethrower!" Morrison ordered. Grolwithe fires Flamethrower once again. Both had landed a hit on each other. "Gligar! Use Steel Wing on Machamp! Let's go!" Gligar came fast at mach speed and lands a hit onto Machamp.
"Gligar's Steel Wing scores a direct hit!" The announcer announced.
"Let's give them another Steel Wing! Go!" Morrison called out. Gligar bombards Machamp with fiercesome speed.
"Gligar lets loose with a barrage of Steel Wing attacks! This may be the break Morrison's been looking for!" The announcer announced.
"Machamp! Dynamic Punch!"Gavin ordered. Machamp tries to land a punch onto Gligar, but it was moving too fast for Machamp to land a single hit.
"Machamp mounts a comebackwith Dynamic Punch, but can't seem to put it together!" The announcer announced.
"Gligar, nice work! Okay! Use Guillotine!" Morrison ordered. Gligar comes at the superpower Pokémon with Guillotine and lands a heavy blow onto Machamp.
"Gligar's Guillotine deals a devastating blow!" The announcer announced. The referee raises the green flag.
"Machamp is unable to battle!" The referee announced.
"Oh yeah!" Morrison cheered as he had took out one of Gavin's Pokémon.
"So now, it's Gavin and his Marowak facing off against Morrison's two Pokémon at once!" The announcer announced.
"Yeah? Well, I'm just getting warmed up here!" Gavin shouted. "Marowak! Use Bone Club on Growlithe!" Marowak twirls its bone started running towards Growlithe to land a hit.
"Growlithe! Use Flamethrower!" Morrison ordered. Growlithe fires Flamethrower at the bone keeper Pokémon, but it jumps to dodge the attack and comes down to land a blow onto the puppy Pokémon. Growlithe had been knocked at the head and taken down. Morrison gasped in shock as he witnessed his Growlithe being taken down. The referee raises the red flag.
"Growlithe is unable to battle!" The referee announced.
"And Gavin treats us to an impressive comeback, transforming this into a one-on-one battle!" The announcer announced.
"Marowak! Bonmerang! Let's go!" Gavin ordered. Marowak throws its bone right at Gligar.
"Dodge and use Guillotine!" Morrison ordered. Gligar avoids Maroak's bone and heads for the bone keeper Pokémon.
"Marowak! use Headbutt!" Gavin ordered. Marowak heads for Gligar to land a Headbutt. They both collided with each other and fell to the ground.
"Their power is perfectly matched!" The announcer announced.
"Marowak! Ice Beam! Now!" Gavin ordered. Marowak fires Ice Beam and lands a hit onto Gligar. The beam of ice freezes one of Gligar's wings.
"Ladies and gentlemen, it looks Marowak's frozen one of Gligar's wings!" The announcer announed as Gligar came crashing down.
"Marowak! Bonmerang!" Gavin ordered. Marowak throws its bone right at the fly scorpion Pokémon and lands a hit.
"That frozen wing seems to have Gligar completely powerless against Marowak's Bonmerang!" The announcer announced.
"Marowak! Finish this with Bone Club!" Gavin ordered. Marowak comes at Gligar with the intent of hitting Gligar with its bone.
"Glaigar! Charge in!" Morrison called out. Gligar gets back up and charges towards Marowak. The group were confused by Morrison's choice when Gligar was charging in. Marowak smacks Gligar in the head with its bone.
"That Bone Club scored a direct hit! This match may be just over!" The announcer announced.
"Iron Tail, Gligar! Now!" Morrison ordered. Gligar swings its tail right at Marowak, landing a good blow.
"Coing completely out of nowhere, a red-hot Iron Tail from Gligar!" The announcer announced.
"Oh no!" Gavin gasped.
"Take that!" Morrison taunted. Marowak heads for a wall as Marowak's bone is sticking into the ground. Marowak was down and out. The referee raises the green flag.
"Marowak is unable to battle! Gligar wins! The winner of the battle is Morrison!" The referee announced.
"We did it! Awesome, Gligar!" Morrison said as he felt pride for his Pokémon.
Brendan was having his battle in Stadium B against a boy wearing thick glasses.
"Now we have our second battle in Stadium B! It's Brendan from Littleroot Town up against Marvin from Fortree City!" The announcer announced as Marvin was looking at Brendan with such a grin. Brendan and Marvin each took out two Pokéballs as they got ready for battle.
"Go! Sceptile and Charmeleon!" Brendan called out as his Sceptile and Charmeleon both entered the battlefield.
"Go! Aggron and Granbull!" Marvin shouted. Both his Aggron and Granbull made an entrance.
"Brendan chooses Sceptile and Charmeleon as Marvin has chosen Aggron and Granbull!" The announcer announced.
"Begin!" The referee called out.
"Charmeleon! Begin with Slash! Sceptile! Leaf Blade!" Brendan ordered. Sceptile and Charmeleon comes at their opponents about to swipe at their opponents.
"Granbull! Use Thunder Fang! Aggron! Use Dragon Claw!" Marvin ordered. Granbull comes at Charmelon with Thunder Fang while Aggron comes at Sceptile with Dragon Claw. Charmeleon lands a Slash into Granbull and Aggron lands Dragon Claw onto Sceptile.
"Charmeleon starts things off with Slash and lands a successful blow onto Granbull! Aggron does the same onto Sceptile!" The announcer announced.
"Aggron! Use Fire Punch on Charmeleon!" Aggron heads for Charmeleon with a burning punch attack.
"Charmeleon! Dodge it with Dig!" Brendan ordered. Charmeleon dug into the ground to avoid Aggron's Fire Punch.
"Charmeleon escapes Aggron's Fire Punch by digging underground!" The announcer announced.
"Sceptile! Use Leaf Storm!" Brendan ordered. Sceptile unleashes Leaf Storm and sends it to its opponents.
"Aggron! Granbull! Use Flamethrower!" Marvin ordered. Both Pokémon uses Flamethrower to block Leaf Storm, catching them on fire.
"Aggron and Granbull blocks Leaf Storm by using Flamethrower! Brendan is in for a hot battle now, especially when Sceptile is weak against fire!" The announcer announced. Charmeleon emerges from underground.
"Charmeleon! Use Thunder Punch on Granbull!" Brendan ordered. Charmeleon comes at the fairy Pokémon with an electrified punch. Charmeleon scores a perfect hit into Granbull, resulting in paralysis.
"Charmeleon lands a shocking Thunder Punch ending up with Granbull being paralyzed!" The announcer announced.
"Aggron! Fire Punch on Charmeleon!" Marvin ordered.
"Sceptile! Use Leaf Blade on Aggron!" Brendan ordered. Aggron comes to Charmeleon to land a Fire Punch as Sceptile stops Aggron by swiping it with Leaf Blade. "Now use Leaf Storm!" Sceptile fires Leaf Storm and it pelts Aggron greatly.
"Sceptile defends Charmeleon by giving it a Leaf Storm in the face! I doubt Marvin is taking this lightly!" The announcer announced.
"Not bad. Granbull! Thunder Fang on Sceptile! Aggron! You use Fire Punch on Sceptile too!" Marvin ordered. Both of Marvin's Pokémon headed for Sceptile with Thunder Fang and Fire Punch at once.
"Charmeleon! Flamethrower on Aggron!" Brendan ordered. Charmeleon fires Flamethrower on Aggron, sending Aggron back.
Granbull still headed for Sceptile.
"Now, it's Charmeleon who is defending Sceptile! Charmeleon has stopped Aggron with Flamethrower, but Granbull is still making its way to Sceptile!" The announcer announced.
"Not a problem. Sceptile! See Bomb!" Brendan ordered. Sceptile fires Seed Bomb right at Granbull and it lands a hit onto Granbull. "Now use Leaf Blade!" Sceptile swipes at Granbull with a devastating blow. Granbull had been taken down. The referee reaises the green flag.
"Granbull is unable to battle!" The referee announced.
"Granbull had been taken down, leaving Aggron against Charmeleon and Sceptile!" The announcer announced.
"Aggron! Flamethrower! And make it a powerful one!" Marvin ordered. Aggron fires a powerful Flamethrower and it was enough to bring down Sceptile. The referee raises the red flag.
"Sceptile is unable to battle!" The referee announced.
"And now, it's a single match! Aggron versus Charmeleon! Which one is going to advance to move on?" The announcer asked.
"Aggron! Flamethrower again!" Marvin ordered.
"Charmeleon! You use Flamethrower too!" Brendan ordered. Both Pokémon fired Flamethrower and they push each other back.
"Now, things are really cooking! Charmeleon and Aggron are putting up quite a barbeque! Someone will have to bring the refreshments!" The announcer announced.
Charmeleon and Aggron held on as much as they could as Aggron was pushing back Charmeleon's Flamethrower and landed hit a hit.
"That's it, Aggron! Keep up that Flamethrower!" Marvin called out.
"Charmeleon! Hang in there!" Brendan called out.
"Aggron is doing a real number on Charmeleon! It's going to take a miracle to save him now!" The announcer announced. Charmeleon then started to evolve. Everyone watching were slightly amazed as Brendan's Charmeleon was now a Charizard. "And that miracle has come because Charmeleon had evolved into a Charizard!" May was especially thrilled to see it.
"Way to go, Brendan!" May cheered.
"I didn't see that coming," Riku said. Marvin was shocked at first, but he wasn't going to let that stop him.
"Evolved or not, because that Charizard is still going down! Aggron! Dragon Claw!" Marvin ordered. Aggron comes at Charizard with Dragon Claw.
"Charizard! Thunder Punch! Again and again!" Brendan ordered. Charizard waited for Aggron to get close enough and lands Thunder Punch again and again like a boxer punching a punching bag.
"Now Charizard is giving Aggron a series of Thunder Punches from left to right!" The announcer announced.
"One more Thunder Punch! Right between the eyes!" Brendan called out. Charizard lands a heavy blow onto Aggron, resulting in a knockout. The referee raises the green falg.
"Aggron is unable to battle! Charizard wins! Brendan wins the battle!" The referee announced.
"And Brendan has won his first match!" The announcer announced. Sora was now having his battle in Stadium C. Sora stood ready as he awaits his opponent. He is a young man with black hair and he wore a red shirt and blue jeans along with black shoes. "Up next is our third battle in Stadium C! It's Sora Ketchum from Pallet Town against Roberto from Inua Town!" In Alola,eight of the Alolan nine along with the otherworldly visitors waited for Sora to make it to the battlefield. Sora took out his two Pokéballs and threw them.
"Go! Mudsdale and Farfetch'd!" Sora called out as Mudsdale and Farfetch'd had come out to battle.
"Go! Exploud and Crobat!" Roberto called out. His Exploud and Crobat enters the battlefield ready for action.
"Now the stage is set! Sora is going with Mudsdale and Farfetch'd and Roberto is going with Exploud and Crobat!" The announcer announced.
"Begin!" The referee called out.
"Crobat! Poison Fang on Farfetch'd! Exploud!Ice Punch on Mudsdale!" Roberto ordered. Crobat came at the wild duck Pokémon with its fangs emitting poison while Exploud came at the draft horse Pokémon with an icy punch.
"Farfetch'd! Use Cut on Crobat! Mudsdale! Mud Bomb on Exploud!" Sora ordered. Farfetch'd flew and lands Cut onto Crobat while Mudsdale fires Mud Bomb at Exploud. Exploud avoids Mud Bomb and lands Ice Punch on Mudsdale.
"Farfetch'd manages to land a good clean Cut on Crobat and Exploud lands a chilly Ice Punch on Mudsdale!" The announcer announced.
"That was good, Exploud! Use Hyper Voice!" Roberto ordered. Exploud fires a powerful soundwave and it struck both of Farfetch'd and Mudsdale. "Crobat! Come at Mudsdale with Steel Wing!" Crobat heads down to Mudsdale and smacks him with its wings.
"Crobat is making good use of Steel Wing on Mudsdale in the cover of Exploud's Hyper Voice! Sora must be at a dissary!" The announcer announced.
"Farfetch'd! Night Slash on Crobat!" Sora ordered. Farfetch'd comes at Crobat with its leak emitting a dark aura and swipes at the bat Pokémon. "Now use Air Slash!" Farfetch'd fires a blade of air from his leak and lands a hit onto Crobat.
"Farfetch'd comes out swinging with Night Slash and then followed with Air Slash! Talking about a deadly combination!" The announcer announced.
"Enough playing around! Exploud! Ice Punch on Farfetch'd!" Roberto ordered.
"Mudsdale! Mud Bomb on Exploud!" Sora ordered. Mudsdale fires Mud Bomb just when Exploud was about to come at Mudsdale with an Ice Punch. "Now use Mega Kick!" Mudsdale landss a kick onto Exploud.
"Cross Poison!" Roberto ordered. Crobat comes at Mudsdale with all of its wings forming poison blades.
"Aerial Ace!" Sora ordered. Farfetch'd dashes right at Crobat and it goes falling right to the ground.
"Farfetch'd lands an Aerial Ace on Crobat! Can Crobat keep going after taking that brutal hit?" The annoucer asked. Crobat manages to get back up. "Crobat is back up and ready to keep on battling!"
"Crobat! Poison Fang!" Roberto ordered as Crobat comes at Farfetch'd again lands a hit.
"Farfecth'd! Cut!" Sora ordered. Farfecth'd lands Cut onto Crobat. "Now use Aerial Ace!" Farfetch'd lands a good clean hit on the bat Pokémon.
"Crobat comes at Farfetch'd with Posion Fang and comes back with Cut and Aerial Ace!" The announcer announced. Crobat had been taken down. The referee raises the green flag.
"Crobat is unable to battle!" The referee announced.
"Now, it's Exploud against Sora's two Pokémon! How will Roberto hope to win against two opponents at once?" The announcer asked.
"Exploud! Use Hyper Voice!" Roberto ordered. Exploud fires Hyper Voice right at Mudsdale and Farfetch'd.
"Farfetch'd! Get on Mudsdale's back!" Sora called out. Farfetch'd gets on the draft horse Pokémon's back and Mudsdale whinnies as Farfetch'd is now riding on his back. "Now charge!" Mudsdale charges right through Exploud's Hyper Voice.
"I don't believe what I'm seeing, ladies and gentlemen, but Sora is turning this Pokémon battle into a joust!" The announcer announced.
"Use Night Slash!" Sora ordered. Farfertch'd swipes his leak right at Exploud with a dark aura, landing a hit on Exploud.
"And Farfetch'd scores a direct hit!" The announcer announced.
"Again Mudsdale! But this time use High Horsepower!" Sora ordered. Mudsdale's body began to glow in an orange aura as Mudsdale whinnies and comes at Exploud.
"Now Mudsdale is charging at Exploud with Farfetch'd along for the ride with a HIgh Horsepower! Look like Farfetch'd is going to make another hit!" The announcer announcer.
"I don't think so! Exploud! use Hyper Beam!" Roberto ordered. Exploud fires Hyper Beam right at the charging Pokémon. Mudsdale took a bad hit as Farfetch'd jumps right right.
"Exploud stops Mudsdale in its tracks with Hyper Beam! This is not looking good for Sora!" The announcer announced as Mudsdale had been taken down. The referee raises the red flag.
"Mudsdale is unable to battle!" The referee announced.
"Now it's Farfetch'd versus Exploud! This is anyone's guess who's going to win this battle!" The announcer announced.
"Exploud can't attack right after using Hyper Beam, so I'm gonna have to take it down fast. Farfetch'd! Use Cut!" Sora ordered. Farfetch'd comes at Exploud with its leek ready to swipe at Exploud.
"You think my Exploud is out of steam after using Hyper Beam, do you? Not even close! Exploud! Dodge it!" Roberto ordered. Exploud manages to dodge Fartfetch'd's Cut.
"And Exploud makes a good dodge from Farfetch'd's Cut!" The announcer announced.
"Now use Ice Punch!" Roberto ordered. Exploud lands an Ice Punch onto Farfetch'd.
"Exploud lands a solid Ice Punch on Farfetch'd! That was a super effective hit!" The announcer announced. Farfetch'd wasn't going to go down that easily. Sora saw the determination Farfetch'd has when he caught him on Mount Silver. He even remembered Cornelius's Farfetch'd and how hard it battled. Farfetch'd lets out a loud cry, letting the world know he refuses to give up. "Farfetch'd is refusing to call it quits! I have never seen such determination from a duck Pokémon!"
"Your Farfetch'd may have some spirit, but it won't be enough to take down my Exploud!" Roberto said.
"It's not over until the fat lady sings," Sora said. "Farfetch'd! Air Slash!" Farfetch'd forms a blade of air and send it right at Exploud.
"Farfetch'd fires Air Slash! Let's see how Roberto reponds!" The announcer announced.
"Exploud! Hyper Beam!" Roberto ordered. Exploud fires Hyper Beam to block Air Slash, resulting in an explosion. Sora got an idea on how to use this to his advantage. Farfetch'd looked to Sora.
"Move in the smoke," Sora told Farfetch'd. The wild duck Pokémon nodded and flew in the cover of smoke. Exploud and Roberto was certain Exploud had taken Farfetch'd and won the battle.
"Roberto's Exploud fires Hyper Beam to block Air Slash with hopes of finishing off Farfetch'd!" The announcer announced.
"And that's that," Roberto said with satisfaction.
"Aerial Ace!" Sora ordered.
"HUH?!" Roberto exclaimed as Farfetch'd lands a hit onto Exploud with Aerial Ace, making the smoke clear up.
"Whoa! Farfetch'd has landed a heavy Aerial Ace on Exploud! Farfetch'd used the smoke as a cover!" The announcer announced.
"Now use one more Night Slash!" Sora ordered. Farfetch'd raises his leek high into the air and it turned into a sword made of a dark aura and swipes at Exploud with incredible force.
"Farfetch'd has made one might swing from that Night Slash!" The announcer announced. Exploud fell to the ground beaten. The referee raises the green flag.
"Exploud is unable to battle! Farfetch'd wins! The victor is Sora from Pallet Town!" The referee announced.
"Sora comes out on top in his very first double battle right here in the qualifying round!" The announcer announced. THe crowd cheers hard for Sora to win it.
Back in Alola, eight of the Alolan nine were all celebrating Sora for his win. Their new friends were awestruck by how Sora managed to win it.
"Cricky, that kid is touger than Koala Kong on steroids, and he don't use those," Dingodile said.
"What did we tell you? When Sora got into a corner, he bounces back," Hapu said.
"He has the same spirit as Spyro. When I was the Sorceress's apprentice, I could see how he refused to stop even when the odds were against him," Bianca said.
"To be honest, I kinda had mah doubts, but after seeing it on screen, Ah'm glad that Ah was wrong," Applejack said.
"Sora's got two more of these matches to go," Illima said.
Back in Hoenn, it was now Wally's turn in Stadium A. He had his Roserade and Delcatty out as he was battling a trainer with a Slaking and Muk. Things were taking a turn for the worse for Wally as Roserade and Delcatty were exhausted.
"Slaking! Body Press! Muk! Use Body Slam!" Wally's opponent ordered. Both Slaking and Muk came at both of Wally's Pokémon ready o slam them on the ground.
"Roserade! Petal Blizzard! Delcatty! Disarming Voice!" Wally ordered. Both of Wallly's Pokémon combined their attacks and it struck both of Slaking and Muk.
"Roserade and Delcatty make good use of their teammwork by catching Slaking and Muk in the Petal Blizzard and Disarming Voice combo!" The announcer announced.
"Now use Magical Leaf!" Wally ordered. Roserade fires Magical Leaf into the vortex and struck them both. "Delcatty! Use Hyper Beam!" Delcatty fires Hyper Beam and it struck them both. The vortex ceases and they both fall to the ground.
"Wally makes a comeback by firing Hyper Beam, causing tremendous damage!" The announcer announced. The referee raises the green flag.
"Slaking and Muk are both unable to battle! Roserade and Delcatty wins! The victory goes to Wally from Petalburg City!" The referee announced.
"Just when Wally was in a corner, he comes out on top!" The announcer announced.
With all four of them having their battles over and done with, they all get to get together to celebrate.
"Good work, you guys!" Lillie said.
"You guys were awesome!" Elio said.
"What can you expect? We're just awesome! But the one who is gonna make it to the top is me!" Morrison said.
"Don't overestimate yourself, Morrison. We have two more double battles to win if we're going to make it to the next round," Wally said.
"He's right. We're just getting started," Sora said. Everyone was in full agreement in that.
It was now the very next day, Brendan, Morrion, and Wally had their battles and won, but now it was Sora's turn as he was battling in Stadium D. Before that, Sora made some modifications to his team. He exchanged Mudsdale and Farfetch'd for Torkoal and Blaziken. Sora decided to register Torkoal and Turtonator for this battle.
"Now, it's time for the fourth battle here in Stadium D where are about to witness another great battle between two tough contenders! Entering first, coming from Pallet Town and Champion of the Pokémon Leagues of Kanto and Johto, Sora Ketchum!" The announcer announced. The crowd cheers hard for Sora. Coming in the opposite direction is a girl that is about eighteen years old. She has blue hair and light blue eyes. She wore a short black tank top and knee-length jeans and she wore white sandals. "And coming in from Lavaridge Town is Scheris Adjani!"
"So, that's the Pokémon League champion I have been hearing about? He doesn't look like much, but I shouldn't underestimate him just because he's a kid," Scheris said in her thoughts. They both took out two Pokéballs. Sora threw his first.
"Go! Torkoal and Turtonator!" Sora called out as his two Fire Type Pokémon came out to battle. Torkoal fires smoke from his nostrils. Scheris just chuckled.
"Looks like I came prepared for this one! Go! Starmie and Dewgong!" Scheris called out as her two Pokémon came out to battle.
"Sora is using Torkoal and Turtonator, which are Fire Type Pokémon as Scheris sends out Starmie and Dewgong whom are both Water Type Pokémon!" The announcer announced.
"Begin!" The referee shouted.
"Torkoal! Turtonator! Flamethrower!" Sora ordered. Both Fire Types fired Flamethrower right at the same time.
"I knew you would try that! Starmie! Dewgong! Use Water Pulse to block!" Scheris ordered. Both of her Pokémon launched Water Pulse to block Flamethrower, creating some steam. "Dewgong! Use Blizzard! Starmie! Psyshock" Dewgong fires Blizzard as Starmie fires a psychic energy right the two opposing Pokémon.
"Torkoal! Protect! Turtonator! Behind Torkoal!" Sora ordered. Torkaol creates a protectve barrier around himself and Trutonator gets behind the tortoise Pokémon. Both of their attacks don't even touch them.
"Torkoal makes good use of Protect whie Turtonator gets behind it. Blizzard and Psyshock doesn't touch them!" The announcer announced.
"He got lucky, nothing more! Dewgong! Icicle Crash!" Scheris ordered. Dewgong fires icicles from under it and sends them right at the two Fire Types.
"Torkoal! Heat Wave! Turtonator! Flamethrower!" Sora ordered. Turtonator and Torkoal fire their attacks and it melts the icicles coming down.
"Sora counters Scheris with Heat Wave and Flamethrower, melting the icicles!" The announcer announced. Scheris grins, konwing he was going to block it.
"Perfect! Starmie! Use Hydro Pump on Torkoal!" Scheris ordered. Starmie fires Hydro Pump and lands a direct hit onto Torkoal.
"Scheris manages to distract Torkoal and Turtonator with Icicle Crash, following with Hydro Pump!" The anouncer announced.
"Dewgong! Use Headbutt!" Scheris ordered. Dewgong lands a Headbutt on Torkoal as well.
"Both Starmie and Dewgong are targetting Torkoal! Torkoal is going to be eliminated fast unless Sora comes up something fast!" The announcer announced.
"Turtonator! Dragon Pulse on Dewgong!" Sora odered. Turtonator unleashes Dragon Pulse on Dewgong, causing some damage. "Now use Body Press!" Turtonator slams his whole body onto Dewgong, causing some heavy damage.
"Sora's Turtonator is making a comeback as it starts off with Dragon Puolse, followed by Body Press!" The announcer announced.
"Starmie! Rapid Spin on Turtonator!" Scheris ordered.
"Turtonator! Shell Trap!" Sora ordered. Turtonator turned and his spikes started glowing. Starmie makes contact as it results in an explosion.
"Turtonator blocks Starmie's Rapid Spin with Shell Trap! Starmie has taken some serious damage!" The announcer announced.
"He's even better than I thought he is. No wonder he won those two Leagues. And if I try a physical attack again, he'll just use Shell Trap on me again!" Scheris said. "Dewgong! Icicle Crash! Starmie! Use Psychock!" Starmie and Dewgong fired Icicle Crash and Psyshock right at their targets.
"Torkoal! Protect! Turtonator! Behind Torkoal like before!" Sora ordered. Turtonator gets behind Torkoal just like before and the two attaks don't touch them.
"Torkoal makes good use of Protect once again, defending Turtonator. Talk about real teamwork between two Fire Types!" The announcer announced.
"Dewgong! Ice Beam!" Scheris ordered.
"Torkoal! Flamethrower!" Sora ordered. Both Dewgong and Torkoal fire their attacks to one another, both landing a hit, resulting in a double knockout.
"Dewgong and Torkoal are both unable to battle!" The referee announced.
"Sora and Scheris had lost one Pokémon each and both are raring to go! Sora and Scheris are both determined to finsh this match!" The announcer announced.
"I'm through playing around with you, kid! Your Turtonator might be big, but it's going to make a loud crash when it falls! Starmie! Psyshock!" Scheris ordered. Starmie fires Psyshock once again to strike at the blast turtle Pokémon.
"Block with Flamethrower!" Sora ordered. Turtonator blocks with Flamethrower, holding back Starmie's attack. It results in an exoplosion.
"Starmie! Hydro Pump!" Scheris ordered. Starmie fires Hydro Pump.
"Scheris is anxious to finish this battle once and for all! She has her Starmie fire Hydro Pump right at Turtonator!" The announcer announced. Sora had an idea about how to finish this, but he had hoped it was going to work.
"Turtonator! Charge though that water!" Sora called out. Scheris was confused by his choice as Turtonator charges through Starmie's Hydro Pump.
"I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it for myself! Turtonator is charging through Starmie's Hydro Pump! What is he cooking up?" The announcer asked.
"Is he crazy?!" Scheris exclaimed.
"Body Press!" Sora ordered. Turtonator presses his whole body onto Starmie, causing some real damage. "Now use Dragon Pulse!" Turtonator unleashes Dragon Pulse and it gives Starmie a huge sum of damage. Starmie had been taken down as the referee raises the green flag.
"Starmie is unable to battle! Turtonator wins! The victory goes to Sora from Pallet Town!" The referee announced.
"Sora Ketchum has overcome Scheris Adjani, earning his second win!" The announcer announced.
"I had the advantage and I lost?! It was perfect!" Scheris exclaimed.
With that done, Sora healed up his two Pokémon and they were fighting fit. Kairi went up to gie her boyfriend a congratulatory kiss on the cheek.
"Good job, Sora," Kairi said.
"Thanks Kairi. I think you gave me one of those win I won over Scheris. But one more wouldn't hurt," Sora said. And Kairi gave him on the lips. "That did it." She giggled.
It was now the next day as Sora was going to have his battle before Brendan, Wally, and Morrison. Sora decided to go with Vikavolt and Mimikyu. Sora was up against a boy with brown hair and blue eyes. He wore a red and white hoodie with his entire hood being cream-colored. He wore gray shorts, white socks, and black boots.
"And he is our first battle on Satium C! It's Sora Ketchum from Pallet Town against Renton Thurston from Ordale Town! Both if these trainers have overcome their opponents before getting the chance to earn a third win to move on!" The announcer announced. Among the stands, watching the battle is a girl with lime green hair and violet eyes. She had a gold hair pin in her hair as she wore a teal and white dress with white boots.
"Renton," the girl said.
"This guy is good. Better take him down hard if I'm going to move on in the next round," Renton said, taking out his two Pokéballs. Sora did the same thing. "Okay! Go for it! Kingler and Swalot!" He threw them to let out his two chosen Pokémon.
"Go! Vikavolt and Mimikyu!" Sora shouted. Sora's two Pokémon had entered the battlefield. Renton was scared of Mimikyu because of his appearence since he heard about how a famous scholar died of fright when he looked underneath.
"Begin!" The referee shouted.
"Vikavolt! Vice Grip! Mimikyu! Shadow Claw!" Sora ordered. Vikavolt comes at Kingler with Vice Crip as Mimikyu comes towards Swalot with Shadow Claw.
"Kingler! You use Vice Grip too! Swalot! Fire Sludge Bomb at Mimikyu!" Renton ordered. Kingler blocks with Vice Grip as Swalot fires Sludge Bomb at Mimikyu. The diguise Pokémon dodges just by jumping aournd and swipes at Swalot.
"Mimikyu slashes at Swalot with Shadow Claw as Kingler blocks Vikavolt with its own Vice Grip!" The announcer announced.
"Vikavolt! Thunderbolt!" Sora ordered. Vikavolt gives the crab Pokémon a shock as Kingler let's go of Vikavolt. "Now use Electro Web!" Vikavolt fires Electro Web, trapping Kingler inside it.
"Vikavolt puts Kingler into an Electro Web! Renton had made a poor choice putting Kingler against this Electric Type Pokémon!" The announcer announced.
"Now use Signal Beam!" Sora ordered. Vikavolt fires Signal Beam into Kingler, sending it back.
"Kingler! Come back at Vikavolt with Crabhammer!" Renton ordered. Kingler swings its huge pincer right at Vikavolt, landing a hit. "Now use Liquidation!" Kingler makes a blade made of water from its pincer and uses it to land a hit onto the stage beetle Pokémon.
"Kingler makes a comeback with Crabhammer and Liquidation!" The announcer announced.
"Swalot! Use Gunk Shot!" Renton ordered. Swalot inhales and fires a silver light which turned into a black bag full of garbage.
"Mimikyu! Use Hex to block!" Sora ordered. Mimikyu forms Hex and uses it to destroy the bag and garbage scatters all around.
"Mimikyu makes a block with Hex as garbage goes all around! What a mess!" The announcer announced.
"Gunk Shot again and again!" Renton ordered. Swalot fires Gunk Shot again and again with hopes of striking Mimikyu.
"Mimikyu! Phantom Force!" Sora ordered. Mimikyu vanishes in a ghostly vortex below him. Swalot stops firing as it saw its target was nowhere to be seen.
"Mimikyu makes a disappearing act with Phantom Force! Mimikyu could pop out at any moment!" The announcer announced.
"Vikavolt! Thunderbolt on Kingler!" Sora ordered. Vikavolt gives Kingler another shock, but Kingler wasn't going to go down that easily.
"Kingler! Fire Hyper Beam!" Renton ordered. Kingler fires Hyper Beam and it struck Vikavolt, causing extremely heavy damage. Vikavolt comes crashing down and Renton has earned a knockout.
"Vikavolt is unable to battle!" The referee announced.
"Sora loses one of his Pokémon and is now up against two opponents! Mimikyu is still nowhere to be seen!" The announcer announced. Mimikyu comes up behind Swalot and smacks it hard. "And Mimikyu delievers a blitz attack on Swalot!" Swalot was going to go down that easily.
"Kingler! Crabhammer! Swalot! Use Sludge Bomb!" Renton ordered. Kingler swings at Mimikyu who dodges it. Swalot fires Sludge Bomb, but Mimikyu keeps dodging and dodging.
"Kingler and Swalot are trying to land a hit onto Mimikyu, but it's just moving too fast for the both of them to land a hit!" The announcer announced.
"I didn't think they could go that fast!" Renton exclaimed. Swalot kept firing Sludge Bomb and almost hits Renton. "Hey! Watch where you're aiming!" Swalot fired a Sludge Bomb into Kingler's face and that makes it mad. Kingler swings Crabhammer at Swalot, but the poison bag Pokémon ducks and a brawl between the two Pokémon.
"Now Kingler and Swalot have turned on each other! I don't think they care about Mimikyu anymore!" The announcer announced. Kingler pulls on Swalot's whiskers as Swalot grabs Kingler by the pincer and slams it down to the ground.
"Better put an end to this before it gets out of hand! Mimikyu! Play Rough!" Sora ordered. Mimikyu heads towards the fueding Pokémon and starts beating them as a dust cloud appears.
"Mimikyu joins in the brawl with Play Rough! We have no way of telling whose battle it'll be!" The announcer announced. The dust cloud clears to see Mimikyu was still standing as Swalot and Kingler had both been taken down.
"Swalot and Kingler are both unable to battle! Mimikyu wins! Sora wins the battle!" The referee announced.
"Sora advances into the three-on-three rounds!" The announcer announced. The crowd cheers as Sora had won it. After the battle was over, he was approached by Renton. The girl with the green hair is with him.
"Hey Sora, congrats on your win. And thanks," Renton said.
"For what?" Sora asked, not understanding.
"For breaking up my Kingler and Swalot like that. It would have gotten out of hand if you hadn't," Renton said.
"Well, I thought it would have gotten you disqualified from the tournament, and I didn't want to win that way. So, I wanted to end it in a fair way," Sora said.
"Again, thanks," Renton said.
"Renton appreciates it, as do I," the girl said.
"It's always good have support from you, Eureka," Renton said. He turned to Sora. "Good luck in the rest of the tournament."
"Thanks. I'll do my best," Sora said, shaking his hand.
They seperated as he went to join his friends to watch Brendan, Wally, and Morrion battle. They each won their battles and they all were moving on. This portion of the Hoenn Pokémon League was going to get more intense at this part. Who will make it through the next part and who will be knocked out?
