Episode 281: Sora vs Katie
The first day of the finals was officially underway. Sora, Brendan, Wally, and Morrison made their way into the finals. In Alola, eight of the Alolan nine along with their otherworldly friends were watching the covereage on TV as they all had a plate of Mallow's Akalan Curry, all expect for Time Man and Oil Man, since they could not consume any food. Delia sat with Mirei as they were watching the event on TV as Professor Oak, Lea, and Isa were at his lab, doing the same thing.
Up in the stands, LIsia sat with Wallace and Steven during the tournament. Lisia wasn't surprsied to see Sora had made it so far. She was lucky to have him and Kairi as friends.
"Sora. Good luck. You too, Brendan, Wally, Morrison. I wish all of you, luck," Lisia said in her thoughts and smiling.
Over to Brendan, he had already bested a trainer only leaving his Sceptile against a Venusaur.
Morrison had won his battle by having his Steelix take out a Slaking.
Wally won his battle while his Magnezone finishing off a Probopass with a powerful Flash Cannon. Now it was Sora's turn to enter. He got his team ready for this. Katie wore a red short sleeved shirt with white lines on her shoulders. She wore a long black skirt with a red line and red shoes.
"Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. The finals of the Hoenn Pokémon League tournament is about to get under way! As you know, 32 participants will do battle here in the main stadium! And amongst only one will emerge triumphant to climb the stairs and stand atop the podium as champion! Matches will be full battles using all six Pokémon and trainers may make substitutions freely! The trainers will also need to adapt to four different varities of fields: Grass, Rock, Water, and Ice! When three of either trainer's Pokémon are rendered unable to battle, there will be a quick break in the match and a battlefield change before the restart!" The announcer announced. The computer begins to choose the battlefield at random. It lands on the rock symbool. "Now, direct your attention to the board which tells us the next battlefield will be a rock battlefield!" The battlefield activates as it changes into the rock field. "Now, that the formalities are out of the way, let me introduce you to the challengers here in today's battle! Coming in on the green corner is Sora Ketchum from Pallet Town and Champion of the Kanto and Johto Pokémon Leagues against Katie from Lilycove City in the red corner!"
Kairi, Angel, the Pichu, Meowth, Riku, Naminé, Eevee, Azurill, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Lillie, Elio, Selene, Brendan, May, Max, Morrison, and Team Choatix sat among the crowd waiting fo the battle to start and to cheer for Sora.
"So, what's the intel you have on Katie?" May asked. Vector spoke up.
"I did my own research," Vector spoke up. "According to what I have down, she is given the nickname 'Cool Beauty' in accrodance to her fashion and flare. Hobbies includes, playing the clarinet and her favorite food is spicy spaghetti with Tamato Berries."
"I bet, I love spaghetti more than she does," Morrison challenged.
"Wait, there's more. In battle, she uses Venomoth and Golduck and is known for carefully analyzing the moves her opponents uses," Vector deduced. Sora takes out his first Pokéball and throws it.
"You first, Aggron!" Sora called out as his Aggron makes his entrance. Katie takes out her Pokéball
"Come on, Venomoth!" Katie called out as she threw her Pokéball and let's out her Venomoth.
"Sora selects Aggron and Katie will use Venomoth!" The announcer announced.
"Trainers, begin!" The referee instructed.
"Aggron! Use Rock Slide!" Sora ordered. Aggron sends out a barrage of rocks to land a hit onto Venomoth.
"Dodge and use Stun Spore!" Katie ordered. Venomoth avoids the rocks and sends out Stun Spore.
"Dodge it!" Sora called out. Aggron avoids Venomoth's Stun Spore just by stepping to the side.
"Just to keep you from using Rock Slide again, I'll give you this! Venomoth! Disable!" Kaitie ordered. Venomoth's eyes glows light blue and the same light blue aura surrounds Aggron.
"Venomoth uses Disable on Aggron! Now, it won't be able to use Rock Slide until the effect wears off!" The announcer announced.
"Aggron! Use Iron Head!" Sora ordered. Aggron comes at the poison moth Pokémon with Iron Head.
"Dodge that!" Katie called out as Venomoth dodges Aggron's Iron Head. Katie then calls Venomoth back to its Pokéball.
"Katie is making a very early change of her Pokémon!" The announcer announced. Katie takes out another Pokéball and throws it.
"Go, Golduck! Now!" Katie called out as her Golduck makes its appearence.
"A Golduck just like Vector said," Terra said.
"And that's bad, because Aggron is so weak against Water Type attacks," Ventus said.
"That's a good matchup," Morrison said.
"That won't stop me! Aggron! Metal Claw!" Sora ordered. Aggron comes at Golduck with his claws ready and glowing metallically.
"Hydro Pump! Blast it, Golduck!" Katie ordered. Golduck fires Hydro Pump right at the iron armor Pokémon.
"A direct hit with Hydro Pump! That did some damage!" The announcer announced.
"Now, give Aggron your strongest Shadow Claw!" Katie ordered. Golduck comes at Aggron and forms a huge shadowy claw and lands a powerful swipe onto Aggron.
"Ooh! Aggron is in trouble!" The announcer announced. Aggron had been taken down. The referee raises the red flag.
"Aggron is unable to battle! Golduck wins!" The referee announced.
"That Golduck took down Aggron down pretty quick," Aqua said.
"Katie doesn't seem to mess around," Elio said.
"No, she means business," Lillie said.
"Sora's gotta get his head in the game," Meowth said.
"Katie has taken the lead and it cost Sora one of his Pokémon!" The announcer announced. Sora calls back his Aggron and looks at his partner.
"Looks like it's your turn, Pikachu," Sora said.
"Pikachu!" Pikachu said, entering the battlefield.
"Sora's second Pokémon is his Pikachu!" The announcer annpunced. Katie grinned happily.
"Just the Pokémon I was hoping for," Katie said, calling back Golduck. She takes out her third Pokéball. "You're up, Dugtrio!" She threw it and her Dugtrio makes an entrance.
"Uh-oh, not good," Ventus said.
"You're right, Ven. Dugtrio is a Ground Type Pokémon and Pikachu's Electric Type attacks won't even get a tickle out Dugtrio," Selene said.
"Just like all those Donphan and Rhyhorn from way back," Charmy pointed out.
"Katie has made a wise choice," Espio said. Angel and the Pichu were starting to get worried for Pikachu.
"Katie wastes no time switching her Pokémon in response to Sora's Pikachu!" The announcer announced.
"Come on, Sora! The match up's not as important as the will to win!" Morrison called out.
"Can't use Thunderbolt and Electro Ball, but instead, I'll have to use two attacks that will hit. Pikachu! Quick Attack!" Sora ordered. Pikachu ran across the battlefield
"Dugtrio! Dig!" Katie ordered. Dugtrio ducked underground to avoid Pikachu. Pikachu stops to look around.
"Keep your eyes peeled! Dugtrio will pop out from anywhere!" Sora called out.
"Okay, Dugtrio! Sand Tomb!" Katie ordered. Dugtrio makes the hole it made even bigger and bigger. Sora knew Pikachu was going to get trapped inside it.
"Get away from there! Hurry!" Sora called out. It was too late as Pikachu was caught in the Sand Tomb.
"Pikachu's headed for the bottom of the Sand Tomb! This doesn't look good!" THe announcer announced. Dugtrio pops up from the bottom.
"Try to use Quick Attack to get out!" Sora called out. Pikachu tried to use Quick Attack to climb on out, but it was no use. Pikachu was still going down.
"Pikachu is desperately trying to get out, but it's no use!" The announcer announced.
"Use Double-Edge, Dugtrio!" Katie ordered. Dugtrio comes at Pikachu.
"Hit Dugtrio with Iron Tail!" Sora called out. Pikachu's tail gives off a metallic glow as Dugtrio was coming at Pikachu. It results in an explosion as Pikachu goes flying out of the hole. Pikachu lands on the ground beaten. The referee raises the red flag.
"Pikachu is unable to battle! Dugtrio wins!" The referee announced.
"Way to go, Dugtrio!" Katie praised.
"Trio!" Dugtrio beamed.
"Nice try with Iron Tail, but it wasn't enough," Riku said.
"The last time we saw Sora in the corner like this was when he was up against Gary during the Johto Pokémon League," Terra said.
"She's almost as relentless as Gary," Lillie said.
"Sora will make a comeback! I know he will! He wont call it quits! I don't care how tough the opponent is, beccause Sora had already come this far, he has got to win!" Ventus said.
"That's telling them, Ven!" Morrison said.
"Ven is right. Sora always made a comeback when he got pinned into a corner. And he's going to make a bounce," Kairi said.
"Eevee!" Angel said.
Pikachu coes back to Sora's side and looks up to Sora, smiling.
"Don't sweat it, buddy. I still got some tricks up my sleeve," Sora said. He took out Flygon's Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Flygon!" His Flygon comes out with a majestic cry.
"Sora selects Flygon for Pokémon number three!" The announcer announced.
"Dugtrio! Dig again!" Katie ordered. Dugtrio digs into the battlefield again.
"No you don't! Earthquake now, Flygon!" Sora called out. Flygon stomps on the ground, forcing Dugtrio back up.
"Hooray for Flygon's Earthquake!" Charmy said.
"It knocked Dugtrio right out of there!" May said.
"Now, use Dragon Rush!" Sora ordered. Flygon flew right at Dugtrio with Dragon Rush and lands a devastating hit on the mole Pokémon.
"A powerful hit with Dragon Rush!" The announcer announced. Katie gritted her teeth, having to see one of her Pokémon taken down. The referee raises the green flag.
"Dugtrio is unable to battle! Flygon wins!" The referee announced.
"Good work, Flygon!" Sora praised the mystic Pokémon as he let out his cry.
"Dig's no good when the opponent uses Earthquake," Naminé said.
"Thank you, Dugtrio. Taking out Sora's Pikachu was really good," Katie said kindly after calling Dugtrio back. She looks into the battlefield. "As for Flygon, let's try Misdreavus!" Katie took out her next Pokéball and threw it. Her Misdreavus makes its entrance. Sora calls back Flygon and takes out his next Pokéball.
"Go right in, Sableye!" Sora called out as his Sableye made his entrance.
"And here we go! Katie sends out Misdreavus as Sora sends out Sableye!" The announcer announced.
"I thought for sure he was going to stick with Flygon. No matter, because I'm still going to take it down," Katie said.
"Good call for Sora since Sableye is a Dark Type Pokémon, and that's a good choice when contending with a Ghost Type Pokémon like Misdreavus!" Max said.
"It sure is. But don't call Katie out yet. She has something planned for Sableye," Lillie said.
"What could that be?" Vector asked.
"Looks like we're gonna have to wait and see," Riku said.
"Eevee," Eevee said.
"Sableye! Attack with Dark Pulse!" Sora ordered. Sableye fires Dark Pulse right at the screech Pokémon.
"Misdreavus! Charge right in!" Katie called out. This confuses Sora.
"What?!" Sora exclaimed. Misdreavus charges right through Dark Pulse. Misdreavus was hurt from the attack, but it wasn't a problem for it one little bit. "Sableye! Stop using Dark Pulse and come at Misdreavus with Shadow Claw!" Sora ordered. Sableye heads right for Misdreavus with his claw giving off a shaodwy aura and makes it big just like Golduck's. Sableye lands a successful hit onto Misdreavus.
"Destiny Bond!" Katie ordered. Misdreavus's body glows dark purple as did Sableye. When Misdreavus went down, so did Sableye.
"Both Misdreavus and Sableye are unable to battle! This round is a draw!" The referee announced.
"Destiny Bond?" Espio asked.
"It's a Ghost Type move that allows to the opponent to be taken down along with the user," Max said.
"Katie's strategy is pretty impressive. It's like she was just one step ahead of Sora right from the beginning," Terra said.
"Sora and Katie had both suffered a loss of Pokémon! And since Sora has already lost three of his Pokémon, there will be a fifteen minute recess as we prepare for the second round of the battle and do a field change!" The announcer announced. Sora managed to go over the plan to counter Katie in the next round. Flygon hadn't taken a hit just yet. He also has Sceptile and Salamence left in preserve. He thought he could try to take to the sky with Salamence and Flygon and save Sceptile for speed. The computer selects the water field. The battlefield is one giant swimming pool. "Ladies and gentlemen, we're back after our fifteen minute recessand for the second half, our trainers will be using a water battlefield!" Sora takes out Salamence's Pokéball and threw it.
"Take the skies, Salamence!" Sora called out as Salamence has flown out from the Pokéball and right into the air. Katie takes out her Pokéball and lthrew it.
"Golduck! Come on out!" Katie called out as her Golduck makes its entrance once again.
"Trainers, resume the battle!" The referee instructed.
"Golduck! Shadow Claw!" Katie ordered.
"Salamence! Dragon Claw!" Sora ordered. Salamence comes at the duck Pokémon with his claw emitting a dragonish aura and they both lock claws, swiping at each other.
"Yeah! Get it, Salamence!" Ventus cheered.
"Sora might turn this around on her yet!" Elio said.
"Salamence! Fly!" Sora ordered. Salamence flew straight into the air.
"Salamence is flying right into the air! Katie better hope there's something she can do to counter the onslaught of this dragon Pokémon!" The announcer announced.
"Stop Salamence with your Ice Beam!" Katie ordered. Golduck fires Ice Beam, but Salamence is flying way too fast to land a hit. Salamence lands a brutal blow onto Golduck
"Salamence has landed a successful blow from the use of Fly!" The announcer announced.
"Golduck! Shadow Claw, now!" Katie ordered. Golduck tries to land a hit onto Salamence, but Salamence just keeps on flying.
"It doesn't look like Salamence is going to be coming down anytime soon! Katie is going to have hard time keeping up with Slamance!" The announcer announced.
"That's great, Salamence! Now, use Flamethrower!" Sora ordered. Salamence fires Flamethrower right at Golduck. The duck Pokémon jumps out of the way of that Flamethrower. "Good! Now! Use Dual Wingbeat!" Salamence comes at Golduck and slams his wings into Golduck, resulting on brutal hits.
"The wings of a Salamence aren't just for show as Katie had just found out! Sora's Salamence gives Golduck a beating with that Dual Wingbeat!" The announcer announced.
"Golduck! No!" Katie gasped. Golduck had been taken down. The referee raises the green flag.
"Golduck is unable to battle! Salamence wins!" The referee announced.
"It's not going to be as easy as I thought! That Salamence is way too fast! I'll turn this into a sky battle too!" Katie said.
"Both Sora and Katie both have three Pokémon remaining!" The announcer announced. Katie takes out her Venomoth's Pokéball and threw it.
"Venomoth! I choose you!" Katie called out as her Venomoth returns to battle. "Venomoth! Use Supersonic!" Venomoth fires a soundwave right at Salamence, but Salamence dodges out of the way of Supersonic. "Stun Spore!"
"Block with Flamethrower!" Sora ordered. Salamence fires Flamethrower and it cuts through Stun Spore. Venomoth flies away from the flames, not wanting to get burned by the fire attack.
"Use Disable!" Katie ordered. Venomoth uses Disable on Salamence. "Now no more Flamethrower!"
"But still have Fly and Dual Wingbeat!" Sora reminded her. "Salamence! Use Dual Wingbeat!" Salamence comes at Venomoth and smacks the poison moth Pokémon hard with his wings.
"Salamance takes Venomoth on with Dual Wingbeat! That caused a huge sum of damage!" The announcer announced. Venomoth fell right into the water, much to Katie's dismay. Venomoth emerges from the water, knocked out. The referee raises the green flag.
"Venomoth is unable to battle! Salamence wins!" The referee announced.
"Yes! Sora is turning the tables on her now!" Elio said.
"Ven and Kairi were right to have faith in Sora thorough and through!" Brendan said.
"That Venomoth never stood a chance against Salamence!" Morrison said.
"No, it didn't," Selene said.
"Also, don't you think Salamence is an awesome Pokémon?!" Ventus exclaimed with his eyes sparkling. "I want one of my own someday!"
"Good job, Salamence! Having you in this battle was a good idea after all!" Sora said. Salamence gave off a small roar in appreciation.
"Take the skies, Scizor!" Katie shouted as she threw another Pokéball. Her Scizor somes out ready to battle Salamence. Sora calls back Salamence and takes out Flygon's Pokéball.
"Okay, Flygon! Back to action!" Sora called out. Flygon comes back out to battle as he flies around, just like Salamence.
"So, it's Flygon out to battle," Naminé said.
"Azurill," Azurill chirped.
"Sora knew Flygon can fly just like Salamence, so he must have something cooked up for Scizor," Kairi said.
"Eevee!" Angel said.
"Pichu!" The Pichu said.
"Scizor! Quick Attack! Now!" Katie ordered.
"Flygon! Use Dragon Rush!" Sora ordered. Flygon comes at Scizor with Dragon Rush.
"Flygon and Scizor heads for one another in a collison course! Will Dragon Rush overcome Scizor's Quick Attack?" The anouncer announced. Flygon and Scizor lands a hit onto each other. They use the same attacks again and again as they were locking on.
"Flygon! Use Dragon Claw!" Sora ordered. Flygon comes at Scizor with his claw emitting a dragonish aura.
"Scizor! Double Team!" Katie ordered. Scizor creates several images of itself. "Now, Metal Claw!" Scizor comes at Flygon.
"Fly straight up in the air!" Sora called out. Flygon flies into the air, avoiding the several Scizor. "Now, use Dragon Rush on all of them!" Flygon uses Dragon Rush to plow through the duplicates until the real one was found and brought down.
"Flygon undoes Scizor's Double Team and brought out the real one! The Cool Beauty is starting to lose her cool when it came to Sora's skill and power!" The announcer announced.
"Oh no! Scizor!" Katie gasped.
"Now, use Dragon Claw!" Sora ordered. Flygon flies and delivers a powerful Dragon Claw onto Scizor, bringing the pincer Pokémon crashing down to a platform.
"Flygon makes a picture-perfect direct hit with that Dragon Claw!" The annoucner announced. Scizor is down and out and the referee raises the green flag.
"Scizor is unable to battle! Flygon wins!" THe referee announced.
"That was great! I never would have thought of using Dragon Rush to plow through the fakes until the real one was found!" Elio said.
"Some thing's never change! Sora always did think outsde the box!" Lillie said.
"Now Katie has one more left to use," May said.
"Sora is sure putting quite a show," Meowth said.
"True, but the show's not over yet," Riku said.
"Eevee," Eevee agreed.
"Sora has made quick work of Katie's fifth Pokémon! Now we're waiting to find out just what will be her final pick!" The announcer announced. Katie was glaring at Sora very angrily. She wasn't happy to see her strategy get sunk down the drain by a turnaround.
"I'm done playing around! Playtime is officially over!" Katie said, taking out her sixth and final Pokéball. "Go! Walrein!" She threw it and comes her Walrein. Sora knew Flygon was at a disadvantage since Flygon is a Ground Type and a Dragon Type, but he had to give it everything he's got.
"Flygon! Come at Walrein with your Dragon Claw!" Sora ordered. Flygon manages to swipe at Walrein with his claw, but his Dragon Claw just bounces off. Walrein's blubber was too thick to land a physical blow. "Dragon Claw had no effect?!"
"I raised my Walrein's defenses by a lot as you can see! Walrein! Ice Beam! Go!" Katie ordered as Walrein fires Ice Beam and it lands a brutal and chilly blow on Flygon.
"Flygon! Use Dragon Rush!" Sora ordered. Flygon manages to keep, flying, but not so fast, due to the cold of Walrein's Ice Beam. Flygon started to come in with Dragon Rush to strike at Walrein.
"Dive in the water!" Katie called out. Walrein dives into the water to avoid Flygon's attack. Flygon flies close to the water. "Now, use Ice Beam!" Walrein fires another Ice Beam and it lands another Ice Beam on Flygon's back.
"Flygon gets hit from behind with a super effective Ice Beam! Bad if you're a Ground Type and a Dragon Type!" The announcer announced. Flygon lands outside the battlefield, knocked out. The referee raises the red flag.
"Flygon is unable to battle! Walrein wins!" The referee announced.
"Score one victory for Walrein whose huge body is in direct contrast to its quick maneuverability! Sora is now down to two Pokémon left in reserves!" The announcer announced. Sora calls back Flygon and takes out Salamence's Pokéball.
"Salamence! Back to action!" Sora called out as he threw it. His Salamance takes the skies once again.
"Sora has sent Salamence back out to play! Will Salamence avenge the honor of a fellow Dragon Type Pokémon or will it fall in battle like Flygon did?" The announcer asked.
"Walrein! Body Slam!" Katie ordered.
"Salamence! Dual Wing Beat!" Sora ordered. Walrein jumps into the air as Salamence comes at the walrus Pokémon, ready to strike it with his wings. Walrein slams into Salamence, finally, taking him down. Walrein and Salammence lands on a platform. "Now! Use Ice Beam!" Walrein fires Ice Beam and it freezes Salamence's torso and wings.
"Salamence! Try to melt the ice with Flamethrower!" Sora odered.
"No, you don't! Ice Fang!" Katie ordered. Walrein's tusks emits ice and lands a cold bite onto Salamence's neck. Salamence had been taken down. The referee raises the red flag.
"Salamence is unable to battle! Walrein wins!" The referee announced.
"And that's it for Sora's Salamence!" The announcer announced.
"Walrein had just sunk Sora's flying attack plan!" Kairi said.
"And Walrein had barely even battled," Naminé added.
"We've seen some overwhelming power from Katie and her Walrein! How will Sora repsond with his final Pokémon?" The announcer asked as he took out his final Pokéball.
"Bottom of the barrel, this out last chance to win this battle," Sora said. "Can't afford to back away now." He throws the Pokéball. "Go! Sceptile!" Sceptile comes out and places his twig in his mouth.
"There you have it! Sora's final Pokémon is Sceptile! Will Sceptile be able to save Sora like it did in his battle against Haruhi or will Walrein take Sceptile down like it did with Flygon and Salamence? Let's get on to the winning round to find out!" The announcer announced.
"Walrein! Ice Beam!" Katie ordered. Walrein fires Ice Beam to strike at the forest Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Leaf Blade!" Sora ordered. Sceptile avoids Walrein's Ice Beam and then comes at Walrein with Leaf Blade.
"Escape underwater!" Katie ordered. Walrein dives in the water to avoid Sceptile. Sceptile looks around for any signs of the walrus Pokémon. Sora knew Walrein could come out at any moment.
"Keep your cool, Sceptile!" Sora called out.
"Cool wouldn't be the right word I would choose especially when my Walrein uses Ice Beam! Speaking of which; Walrein! Ice Beam!" Katie ordered. Walrein fires Ice Beam right at the reptilian Pokémon. Sceptile turned and got hit hard by the beam of ice.
"Sceptile gets sideswiped by a tremendous Ice Beam! That has to leave Sora pretty cold, and no pun intended!" The announcer announced.Walrein dives up and down in the water. Walrein was playing around with its opponent.
Over in Alola, eight of the Alolan nine and the otherwordly vistors were watching the battle from start to finish.
"Man, that walrus thing is tougher than nails! Can't that green thing just get a shot at it?" Hunter asked.
"It doesn't look like it. Walrein is moving too fast in the water. With Walrein's speed in the water, it's impossible to land a proper hit," Illima said.
"Sora's gotta land a hit on it sometimes!" Agent 9 shouted.
All of of the Alolan people were giving them loads of strange looks. They never expected to see anyone or anything like them. Eight of the Alolan nine all assured them that they're not dangerous or anything. They still weren't sure, but they trusted what their beloved Gym Leaders said to them.
"Walrein's defenses are just too strong for a frontal attack and it's too fast when in the water," Sora said in his thoughts. Sora spotted a pice of ice in the water from Walrein's Ice Beam. "Hey, that's from Walrein's Ice Beam, isn't it? Maybe, I can use that in my favor. Just hope it works." He ordered out loud, "Sceptile! Leaf Blade on top of the water!" Sceptile swings Leaf Blade at the water and it splits up. Walrein goes flying out of the water.
"Wow! Sceptile's knocked Walrein right out of the water!" The announcer announced. Katie grinned smugly.
"That won't work on me. Walrein! Let's finish this with Ice Beam now!" Katie ordered. Walrein fires Ice Beam right at Sceptile.
'Dodge!" Sora called out. Sceptile avoids Ice Beam and it struck the water instead. The Ice Beam turned the whole battlefield into an ice field. Sora's plan worked. Now, Walrein can no longer dive in the water. Both Kaite and Walrein were shocked.
"What?!" Katie exclaimed.
"Gotcha!" Sora taunted.
"Folks, would you look at that?! Ice Beam has temporarily frozen the entire pool!" The announcer announced.
"No more underwater sneak attacks!" Charmy said.
"Only Sora can come up with this!" May said.
"Sceptile! Quick Attack!" Sora ordered. Sceptile ran across the frozen battlefield and lands a hit onto Walrein. Walrein hurls to the wall.
"It's another direct hit as Sora sticks with Quick Attack!" The announcer announed.
"Good job, Sceptile!" Sora praised the froest Pokémon.
"It's not over yet! Walrein! Use Mimic!" Katie ordered. Walrein dashed towards Sceptile with Quick Attack. Walrein lands a hit onto Sceptile.
"Now Walrein uses Mimic to pull off a sizzling Quick Attack!" The announcer announced.
"Now, Katie will match Sora, speed for speed," Wally said.
"Knowing Sora, he won't let that stop him," Riku said.
"Let's go in it close! Sceptile! Come at Walrein with Leaf Blade!" Sora ordered. Sceptile heads for Walrein with his Leaf Blade attack. Sceptile lands a successful blow on it.
"Two can play at this game, Sora! Walrein! Body Slam! Let's go!" Katie ordered. Walrein slides back and jumps to make a Body Slam on the forest Pokémon.
"Jump and use Seed Bomb!" Sora ordered. Sceptile avoids Walrein and fires Seed Bomb, resulting in an explosion in Walrein's face.
"So battling up close was a trick! Alright, Walrein! Use your Ice Beam!" Katie ordered. Walrein fires Ice Beam right at Sceptile.
"Quick Attack and then Dragon Claw!" Sora ordered. Sceptile dashes with Quick Attack and lands a hit onto Walrein. Sceptile then swipes his Dragon Claw onto Walrein.
"Ladies and gentlemen, Sceptile's incredible ability to zig when Walrein zags is beginning to wear oppositions down bit by bit!" The announcer announced. Sceptile kept going with QuicK Attack and Dragon Claw again and again.
"When he pulls back, I attack. Walrein! Quick Attack!" Katie ordered. Walrein dashes with Quick Attack.
"Charge right in!" Sora called out as Sceptile ran towards his opponent.
"What's this? Sora surprises everyone by moving in for a close-range attack! What could be going through that spiky head of his?!" The announcer exclaimed.
"Jump!" Sora called out. Sceptile jumps before Walrein could land a hit. "Now, use Leaf Blade!" Sora called out. Sceptile swipes at Walrein with Leaf Blade.
"That Leaf Blade lifts Walrein right off the ground!" The announcer announed.
"Walrein! No!" Katie gasped. Walrein falls right on the battlefield. Walrein didn't have the energy nor the strength to keep going. The referee raises the green flag.
"Walrein is unable to battle! Sceptile wins! The winner of the battle is Sora Ketchum of Pallet Town!" The referee announced. The crowd goes wild for Sora on his victory.
"Way to go, Sceptile! You did great!" Sora said, giving Sceptile a high-five.
"So did you, Sora," Katie said, walking up to him. "Our batlte was tougher than I thought it would be. You won fair and square. Keep on winning," Katie said. Sora smiled.
"Thanks. I'll do my best," Sora said, shaking Katie's hand.
"Sora has truly earned this one. He has overcome all sorts of troubles to pull off a beautiful victory!" The announcer announced.
"And Sora makes four," Brendan said.
"Now, we only have to see who will be up against who," Wally said.
After the battles were over and done with for the day, all of the remaining trainers all gathered around to see who they were going to be paired off with next. The pairings were decided and the enxt round was between Sora and Morrison. Morrison was horrified to see that one of his friends and rivals was his next opponent. What might be going through Morrison's head right now? Could he be worried about bringing down a friend or could it be that he fears that he will be no match for Sora? That battle will be coming up in the next chapter.
