What Luck Brings: After Last Night (Mini Special)
People call me a pervert and a lady's man, but I can't remember the last time I held someone like this. It was a welcome reprieve from the constant nightmares. Their embrace was intoxicating and all-encompassing even though it wasn't real. Why not indulge in this feeling?
Their hair was soft as it passed through my fingers. A small sound came from the person as they snuggled closer. Fingers traced lazy patterns on my chest. How can it feel so real?
The more aware I became of my surroundings, the closer I was to waking up. At least that was the pattern in the past. I didn't want the dream to end this time. Better make the most of it while I have the chance.
Eyes still closed, I tilted my head and my mouth came in contact with what must have been their forehead. Whoever they were, they deserved some appreciation for this feeling of warmth…of acceptance that washed over me. I kissed their forehead and pulled them closer.
Hair tickled my nose. It smelled like…Saku?
Kakashi opened his eyes. Pink hair filled his vision. He quickly began to realize this dream wasn't going to fade away. He was awake.
Kakashi struggled to maintain his composure. If anyone else was around to see, they would have noticed his cheeks bloom into a bright pink rivaling the color of Saku's hair. After a number of deep controlled breaths, he glanced back down at the sleeping boy in his arms.
Saku's expression was that of pure bliss. For a moment he let his mind wander.
'What if I could wake up like this every morning?' he thought.
It was obvious that the boy was interested in him and Kakashi couldn't deny that he was on the verge of falling, if he hadn't already. His overreaction to Saku kissing Naruto only proved it further.
That was when Kakashi became acutely aware of the fact that this was his student. He was pretty sure there were university policies against these types of relationships, but maybe there were ways around them? He didn't pay attention to that stuff since romance was never a possibility in the first place, even if it didn't have any of the current complications. That's also not to say that Kakashi didn't want romance in his life.
But none of that mattered.
Kakashi knew nothing would come of this anyway. There was a ghost in his head that told him he'd never be deserving of anything like this, of happiness, and Kakashi believed it.
'Saku deserves someone better than a killer like me,' he thought. 'Naruto better treat him right, or I'll kick his ass.'
Kakashi couldn't help but to hold Saku a little closer as he prepared to let Saku go.
Then Saku begin to stir. Kakashi closed his eyes and slowed his breathing, at a loss for what else to do. He felt the body on top of him stiffen. A wave of panic hit him when he practically felt Saku's eyes boring into his face.
'Does he know?!'
He could feel the boy's heart beat faster. Saku remained silent as he slowly began maneuvering his body. There were a few seconds of cautious wiggling before he started moving off of Kakashi. He felt a pillow being slipped under his arm as more and more of Saku's body left him.
Kakashi heard a soft thud as he felt Saku fall from the couch, then nothing. After a few more breaths, muffled footsteps retreated up the stairs.
Now staring up at the ceiling, he continued to lie there with the pillow. Kakashi was entirely too disappointed that Saku was gone, it felt like something was missing from him. He ran his hands up his face and through his hair in frustration.
'I swear that little pinkie is going to be the end of me.'
Thank you for reading!
