Episode 288: So Long Galar
After departing Rose Tower, the couple left to to see what else they could see. Just when they were going to head for the local park, they slam into an invisible wall.
"Oh, what was that for?" Sora felt the invisible barrier in front of him. A wall? No, a barrier."
"And there's just one Pokémon we know that can do that. Look!" Kairi said, revealing that the culprit was a Galarian Mr. Mime. The Galrian Mr. Mime blos a raspberry at them. "How rude!" Kairi said. She took out the Galarian Corspla's Pokéball and threw it. "Cosrsola! Go!" The Pokéball opens and her Corsola comes out to battle the Galarian Mr. Mime. "Corsola! Night Shade!" The Galarian Corsola fires Night Shade right the Galarian Mr. Mime and forms another protective barrier to block it. Kairi figured the Galarian Mr. Mime was a male, so she had an ace up her sleeve. "Corsola! Attract!" The Galarian Corsola sends Attract and fell in love with his opponent. "Use Ancient Power!" The Galarian Corsola lands a Power Gem and lands a hit onto the Galarian Mr. Mime. She took out a Pokéball and threw it. The Pokéball flows inside it wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around it to confirm the catch.
"Good catch, Kairi," Sora said.
"Thank you," Kairi said. She plants a kiss on her bofriend's cheek. They continued their stroll in the park. The couple made a stop at a small pond as a Pincurchin came out and went up to Kairi. Kairi spotted a Sinistea behind him and headed for Sora. "Duck!" Sora ducked down as Kairi threw a Pokéball and flows inside it. Stars swirls around it to confirm the catch. Kairi's Pokémon Box activates and it asks her if she wants to keep Sinistea with her. She chose to send Sinistea to Professor Oak's lab.
"I'm going to guess, you have a soft spot for that Pincurchin," Sora said. Kairi looked to her boyfriend and saw him slingin. "Go ahead, Kairi." She knew he was rigth since she did have a soft spot for Pincurchin. She took out a Pokéball and tapped it on Pincurchin as it flows inside. Stars swirls inside it to confirm the catch. Kairi's Pokémon Box activates and it asks her if she wants to keep Pincurchin with her. She chose to send Pincurchin to Professor Oak's lab. The couple continued to gaze at the pond.
"Yes it is," Sora said. He spotted a couple in a boat, rowing on the pond. That gives him an idea. "Would you like to go on a boat ride, Kairi?" She turned to her boyfriend as he smiled at her. "Gotta admit, we never been on a boat ride as a couple, and it'll being out the romance.
"That's a very romantic idea, Sora. I would love to," Kairi said. The couple boarded a boat for the couple to ride in as Pikachu and Angel had their own boat ride. When Sora saw Pikachu and Angel, he pictured Pikachu wearing a straw hat and a red-and-white stripped jacket. Angel wearing a poofy dress, an umbrella to go with it. He also pictured Pikachu playing a guitar for her. He rowed the boat as Kairi sat across from him. Sora looked at his girlfriend and saw how beautiful she looked with the sparkling water in the background.
"Wow," Sora said, rowing. Kairi looked at him quite with an amused look.
"Something wrong, Sora?" Kairi asked.
"No, just looking your pretty face, especially with the water sparkling behind you. Very beautiful," Sora said. Kairi blushed as she giggled.
"Thank you, Sora," Kairi said. She slowly leans to Sora, being careful not to rock the boat and gave her boyfriend a kiss on the lips. He returms the kiss as Angel has done the same to Pikachu and he returns it as well.
Bak in Kanto, Jessie and James made their way to a undisclosed location. They looked around for Genghis and Kahnnie.
"Genghis? Kahnnie?" James asked.
"No," a familiar voice said. The former Team Rocket members turned to see Red, wearing his hood. "I called you here."
"I know your voice. You were there when you stopped us from taking Pikachu when we hired a photographer to catching Pikachu when we thought it was literally,"Jessie said.
"I'm surprised you can remember that," Jaes said.
"Well, it was about over twenty years since that old episode came out," Jessie said. "Anyway, why did you call us here?"
"Because we have a common goal: bringing down Team Rocket," Red said. "Every Pokémon in the entire world is at stake."
"It's true, but mostly we're doing it for revenge," Jessie said.
"Either way, we have a common goal," Red said. "Team Rocket will always be a threat just as long they're still active. Their reach can go any region they want, and we can't let it happen."
"Why should we work with you? We don't have a pretty good history," James said.
"No, we don't. But we can start again right now. The eight of us," Red said. Jessie and Jaems were confused and dumbfounded.
"Eight?" Jessie and James asked.
"You, me, and them," Red said, referring to Ethan, Brendan, Kris, Lyra, and May entered. Brendan and May were shocked to see them alive.
"You're alive?!" Brendan exclaimed.
"I don't believe it!" May said.
"It's a long story," James said.
"I'll say it is. You sure we should let them in?" Ethan asked.
"This is something they can't do alone. And I want to put an end to Team Rocket on this earth just like the Team Rocket on my earth did," Red said. Jessie and James were comepletely lost.
"Your earth?" Jessie asked. Red lowered his hood to reveal his face.
"Yes, my earth. I came from an alternate earth, quite different from yours and another. I called you here becasue I want to put our old history behind us and everything," Red said.
"If you're from a diffrent earth, that means, your world has its own Team Rocket, right?" James asked.
"It did. Giovanni, my Giovanni disbanded Team Rocket after I defeated him in a Gym battle. So far, all the Pokémon and the trainers were safe since bringing their disbanding. So, I don't know where he is at that point, but when I came here, I heard that your Team Rocket is planning something sinister. Also, I heard that your Giovanni had made a deal with some new partners," Red said.
"Do you know what it is, then?" Jessie asked.
"No, I was hoping that you would. i guess we're stuck for now. Your insiders would have to work fast if they are going to uncover this plot," Red said.
"They're already doing that. I fell that we're getting closer to learning their plan," Jessie said. Just then, their communicator activates and they answer. "Speak of the devil. You learn anything?"
"Yes. We managed to know what they're planning to do next. You know the kid whose Pikachu you used to be after?" Kahnnie asked.
"Yes, but why?" James asked.
"Team Rocket is planning to raid Professor Oak's lab and steal all of his Pokémon, and all of his girlfriend's too," Kahnnie said. Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Brendan, and May all gasped. Red knew it was a bad sign.
"When do they plan to make it official?" James asked.
"They'll strike within weeks. Also, Team Rocket is on the pursuit of the legendary Pokémon Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres. That's all we know for right now," Genghis said.
"Then, we'll have to make plans that the lab hit will be a bust, also make sure Moltres, Articuno, and Zapdos stay loose," James said.
"You do that and be careful," Kahnnie said.
"You too," Jessie said. They break contact with each other. "We got our work ahead of us."
"Then, let's get started," May said.
With that said, the eight trainers set off to foil Team Rocket's evil plans for the legendary bird Pokémon.
Back in Wyndon, the couple continued their stroll in the city as they took loads of pictures for the memories. They snapped a few more pictures by some stoney structures. The structure started moving. Pikachu had taken notice.
"Pi," Pikachu said with his cheeks sparkling.
"What's wrong, Pikachu? Soething on my face?" Sora asked. The structure started moving again and Kairi noticed it.
"Sora, I think those rocks are moving," Kairi said, pointing behind him. He turned to see the rocks being perfectly still.
"That's a good one, Kairi. Everyone knows rocks don't mo-" Sora's sentence was cut when a loud sound is heard behind him. Sora turned to see the rocks moving. "Wait a sec! Those aren't stones! It's a Pokémon! That's how it's alive!" The stone-like Pokémon opened its eyes. It has two huge boulders for legs and feet, a trapezoid-shaped rock for the head and body, and square-shaped rocks for the arms and hands. "What kind of Pokémon is that?" Sora took out his Pokédex to scan it.
Stonjourner, the Big Rock Pokémon
Type: Rock
It stands in grasslands, watching the sun's descent from zenith to horizon. This Pokémon has a talent for delivering dynamic kicks. Once a year, on a specific date and at a specific time, they gather out of nowhere and form up in a circle.
"Kairi, I'm sorry to ever doubt you," Sora apologized.
"Don't worry about it, Sora. It happens," Kairi said. Stonjourner comes at Pikachu and ready to stomp on the couple and their Pokémon. "Look out!" Sora and Kairi jump out of the way in one direction as Pikachu and Angel jumped in another. "That was close."
"I'll say. That Pokémon looks like it means business," Sora said. He turned to Pikachu. "Okay, Pikachu! You know what to do!" Pikachu nodded and dashed towards the stoney Pokémon. "Quick Attack all around!" Pikachu ran around the big rock Pokémon with his speed. Sora figred Stonjourner wasn't just big, but also slow. Stonjourner tries to stomp onto Pikachu, but was too fast. "Iron Tail!" Pikachu lands a heavy Iron Tail attack on one of Stonjourner's legs. "Keep up that Iron Tail!" Pikachu swings another Iron Tail on Stonjourner's legs, bringing some damage to the big rock Pokémon. Having enough, Stonjourner slams the ground and makes Pikachu go flying backwards. "You okay, Pikachu?"
"Pik," Pikachu said weakly. "Then, use Thunderbolt and make it a big one!" Sora ordered. Pikachu fires a Thunderbolt attack onto Stonjourner. The big rock Pokémon falls backwards as Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it at Stonjourner. The Pokéball wobbles around and around, knowing it might not stay in so easily. Stars swirls around it to confirm the catch. Sora's Pokémon Box activates and it asks him if he wants to keep Stonjourner with him. He chose to send Stonjourner right to Professor Oak's lab.
All through the days, they explored the rest of the Galar region. They been though all the towns. They made their way back to Motosoke and back to the wild area where, something went by them fast.
"Vee!" Angel said, startled.
"Pika?!" Pikachu exclaimed.
"What was that?" Sora asked. He got his answer when they saw avian Pokémon with predominantly orange plumage. It has long legs, strong "zygodactyl" feet (possessing two toes in front and two toes in yellow), and a large dark bill. Its wings and tail are a mass of spiky feathers, with black feathers covering the back of its wings and inner tail feathers. A large crest of spiked feathers surrounds its head, its thighs are a black color. "What is that?"
"I don't know. It looks oddly familar," Kairi said. Sora slowly took out his Pokédex to see what it is. The Pokédex scans it.
Zapdos Galarian Form, the Strong Legs Pokémon
Type: Fighting/Flying
When its feathers rub together, they produce a crackling sound like the zapping of electricity. One kick from its powerful legs will pulverize a dump truck. Supposedly, this Pokémon runs through the mountains at over 180 mph.
"That's a Zapdos?" Sora asked surprised. The Galarian Zapdos turned to face them as they stare at it. The Galarian Zapdos takes off running. What incredible speed it had. Orange sparks emits from its legs as it runs. "Whoa."
"I was thinking the same thing, Kairi said. They were heading their way to the train station when they heard a loud roar. "What was that?"
"I don't know," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Vee," Eevee said.
They heard some footseps. When they turned they saw what they didn't expect to see. They saw what looks like a Pokémon that looks like it's made of two different dinosaurian Pokémon. The top half derives from a small, bipedal Pokémon, with yellow skin, dandelion face, "crowned" head, long snout, skinny dandelion neck and slender arms. The bottom half derives from a large, quadrupedal Pokémon, with green skin and magenta stripes, claws and back spikes. The couple was dumbfound and amzed by what they were seeing.
"Sora, what is that thing?" Kairi asked.
"I'm not sure if I know, but I better find out," Sora said, taking out his Pokédex and scanned the strange Pokémon.
Dracozolt, the Fossil Pokémon
Type: Electric/Dragon
In ancient times, it was unbeatable thanks to its powerful lower body, but it went extinct anyway after it depleted all its plant-based food sources. The powerful muscles in its tail generate its electricity. Compared to its lower body, its upper half is entirely too small.
"So, it's a prehistoric Pokémon. And a pretty good catch," Sora said. He turned to Pikachu. "Go right in, Pikachu."
"Pika," Pikachu nodded as Pikachu approached Dracozolt. The fossil Pokémon saw the mouse Pokémon coming towards it. "Pikachu! Thunderbolt!" Pikacu fires Thunderbolt at Dracozolt, but it just absorbs the electricity like it was no problem. "No way! Dracozolt just absorbed the electricity like a sponge!"
"It must have Volt Absorb as its ability! Try something else since those don't work!" Kairi said. Dracozolt comes at Pikachu with a Tackle.
"Dodge it, Pikachu!" Sora called out. Dracozolt misses Pikachu as he avoids the attack. Dracozolt fires Thunder Shock and it strikes Pikachu hard. Dracozolt then charges to Pikachu again with another Tackle. "Use Quick Attack and then, use Iron Tail!" Pikachu avoids Dracozolt's Tackle and lands a hit with Quick Attack and then, swings Iron Tail at it. Dracozolt tries Thunder Shock again, but Pikachu dodges by running. "Keep running around, Pikachu!" Pikachu kept going and going. Dracozolt had trouble keeping up with the mouse Pokémon, so iit got pretty dizzy and fell to the ground, dizzy. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it. Dracozolt flows inside and the Pokéball wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Sora's Pokémon Box activates and it asks him if he wants to keep Dracozolt with him. He chose to send Dracozolt to Professor Oak's lab. "Dracozolt might look like a walking jigsaw puzzle, but it's still pretty cool."
"It sure was. I can already imagine how Professor Oak would react if he saw Dracozolt," Kairi said.
Not too far, another Pokémon is seen watching the battle. It has Dracozolt's bottom half, but a fish's head with a red mark on its forehead. It followed them as Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Pikachu, and Angel had started to keep going. The couple came across a Galarian Weezing. Kairi figured since her boyfriend has a Koffing, and when he evolves into a Weezing there, she and Sora could have a Kantonian Weezing and a Galarian Weezing. Kairi had chosen Angel for this one. The Galarian Weezing began with a Fairy Wind.
"Angel! Dodge and use Quick Attack!" Kairi ordered. Angel dodged the Galarian Weezing's Fairy Wind and lands a hit onto it. "Now, Swift!" Angel fires Swift and it struck the Galarian poison gas Pokémon. The Galarian Weezing comes at Angel with a sparkling steam from its mouth. "Try to dodge that attack!" Angel ran to avoid the attack, but the Galarian Weezing led the steam to the female Eevee and landed a hit. Angel has become confused when the hit landed. "What attack was that?" Sora looked up the Galarian Weezing's data and read the name of the move.
"According to the Pokédex, it says, the attack that Weezing had hit Angel with is called Strange Steam. It's a Fairy Type attack. When it lands a hit, it leaves the target confused," Sora said.
"Pika!" Pikachu said, concerned for Angel.
"Angel, please, you have got to snap out of it!" Kairi said. Angel started to wobble around as she took her step. Angel lands a hit with a Quick Attack. Angel tries to land a Headbutt, but she ends up getting hurt in the process and that snapped her out of her confusion. The Galarian Weezing heads towards Angel with a Double Hit. "Angel! Dodge!" Before she could react, she got hit by the Galarian Weezing's Double Hit. "Quick Attack all around, like Pikachu before!" She then got an idea. Angel ran around the Galarian Weezing as it has trouble keeping up with its opponent. "Now, use Iron Tail!" Angel jumped and lands an Iron Tail right on the Galarian Weezing's face and fell to the ground. Kairi took out a Pokéball and threw it at the Galarian Weezing. It flows inside and wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around it to confirm the catch. Kairi's Pokémon Box activates and it asks her if she wants to keep the Galarian Weezing with her. She chose to send her new Weezing to Professor Oak's lab.
"Good catch, Kairi," Sora said.
"Thanks Sora. Think we should make a stop by the lake?" Kairi asked.
"Good idea. I think we could use a break before we get to the train station," Sora said. The couple started to head for the lake to take a break before they headed for the train station bound for Wedgehurst. They were unaware of the Pokémon following them. Anohter Pokémon was in the area as well. It has Dracozolt's head, but it has blue cheeks and a runny nose. It also has hands hanging from huge lumps of snow and a blue body with two walrus flippers with white patterns and a tail similar to a fish. It was heading in the same direction as Sora, Kairi, Pikachu and Angel. The couple had reached the lake, but they weren't aware of a presence in the water. It stuck its head out to be revealed to be a fish-plesiosaur hybrid fossil Pokémon. The plesiosaur half is colored blue and white. It has a blue tail with a fin on top. The flippers are colored blue with white patches on the end and with white spots. The fish half is applied upside down. It has a round blue head with black rectangle pupils, and the mouth is located on top of its head. It has white fins connected to its fish jaws on its upside down head starts snapping as it dove down. As Kairi was about to get a drink of water from the lake, they heard a roar, but it was slightly different. They turned to see the Pokémon following them. "Another one?" Kairi asked. Sora took out his Pokédex to scan it.
Dracovish, the Fossil Pokémon
Type: Water/Dragon
Powerful legs and jaws made it the apex predator of its time. Its own overhunting of its prey was what drove it to extinction. Its mighty legs are capable of running at speeds exceeding 40 mph, but this Pokémon can't breathe unless it's underwater.
"It looks fine to me!" Sora said.
"That thing must have soe water in its gills," Kairi said. Sora wated to be smart about it. He figured he'd go with Grookey this time.
"Go! Grookey!" Sora called out when he threw the Pokéball and Grookey comes out. "Razor Leaf!" Grookey sends out Razor Leaf and Dracovish sends out Dragon Breath. "Branch poke, but go for the legs!" Grookey heads for the legs. Dracovish tries to land a bite only to miss the green monkey Pokémon. "Sratch! Right on its face!" Grookey jumped and swipes across Dracovish's face and fell to the ground. Sora took out his Pokéball and threw it at the fossil Pokémon. The Pokéball wobbles around and around violently, knowing it might not stay in for long. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Sora's Pokémon Box activates and it asks him if he wants to keep Dracovish with him. He chose to send Dracovish to Professor Oak's lab. "Say, Kairi, didn't something about Dracovish look familiar?" Sora asked his girlfriend.
"Now that you mention it, I did notice it has the same legs as the Dracozolt you caught earlier. Also, I saw that the tail was its neck," Kairi said.
"I can't help but wonder what other surprises we're going to end up with," Sora said as Kairi looked behind him and saw somthing.
"You mean like that thing?" Kairi asked, pointing in the direction behind him.
"What thing?" Sora asked as he turned around and saw the yellow-headed Pokémon. "That isn't what I think it is, is it?" Sora took out his Pokédex again and scanned it.
Arctozolt, the Fossil Pokémon
Type: Electric/Ice
The shaking of its freezing upper half is what generates its electricity. It has a hard time walking around. This Pokémon lived on prehistoric seashores and was able to preserve food with the ice on its body. It went extinct because it moved so slowly.
"Just what I thought, another prehistoric Pokémon. Got Dracozolt's head, but a fishy body," Sora said. Arctozolt went up to Sora and Kairi with curiosity and sniffed them before sneezing on Sora's face. "Oh, that's nasty." Arctozolt took a shine to them and took the couple in its arms, making them shiver. "S-S-So c-c-cold."
"I-I-I think it likes us," Kairi said.
"A-A-A-Arctozolt, you mind putting us down? Just don't wanna catch a cold," Sora said. Arctozolt puts the couple down. "Much better."
"I think you should wash your face before you catch a cold, Sora," Kairi suggested.
"Yeah, I might as well," Sora said, heading fo the water. The mysterious Pokémon sticks its head out again. Sora splashes water on his face to wash off Arctozolt's sneeze. Pikachu and Angel's ears perk up when they heard some.
"Pika, Pi!" Pikachu yelled.
"Eevee!" Angel added. Kairi turned to the two of them with concern.
"What's wrong, you two?" Kairi asked. The Pokémon launches its Water Gun as Arctovish fires Powde Snow, freezing it before it reaches Sora. He stopped when he saw the icicle in front of his face.
"WHOA!" Sora yelped. "What was that?!" The Pokémon jumped out of the water much to the surprise of Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel. "And who's that Pokémon?" Sora took out his Pokédex one more time.
Arctovish, the Fossil Pokémon
Type: Water/Ice
Though it's able to capture prey by freezing its surroundings, it has trouble eating the prey afterward because its mouth is on top of its head. The skin on its face is impervious to attack, but breathing difficulties made this Pokémon go extinct anyway.
"I'm no scientist, but I think Arctovish's mouth is on the wrong area," Sora said, putting his Pokédex away. Sora was about to battle it when Arctozolt stepped in. "Arctozolt? You wanna battle it?" Arctozolt nodded. "Then, go for it!"
"Pika, Pika!" Pikachu cheered.
Arctovish began with Water Gun as Arctozolt blocked with Powder Snow. It froze the water as well as blocked it. Arctovish came at Arctozolt with a Tackle. Arctovish tries to dodge, but got hit on the mark due to its slow speed. Arctozolt grabbed Arctovish and gave it a hurl onto land. Arctovish tried desperately to get back in the water, but Arctozolt launched Freeze-Dry on Arctovish, landing a heavy blow. Arctovish jumps to launch a bite, but Arctozolt fires Powder Snow and got hit hard. Arctovish fell back to the ground. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it at Arctovish. The Pokéball wobbles around and around very violently. Stars swirls around it to confirm the catch. Sora's Pokémon Box activates and it asks him if he wants to keep Arctovish with him. He chose to send it to Professor Oak's lab.
"Got another one," Sora said. He turned to Arctovish. "Gotta hand it to you, those were pretty awesome attacks you got. And you helped us out. Was it because you didn't want us to see us getting hurt?" Arctozolt nodded. "Is it because we're your friends?" Arctozolt nodded. Sora smiled as he patted Arctozolt. "A Pokémon like you might fit in nicely with us. What do you say? Wanna join up with us?" Arctozolt beamed and nodded happily as it made its happy roars. "Great!" Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it at Arctozolt and flows inside. Stars swirls around it to confirm the catch. Sora chose to send Arctozolt to Professor Oak's lab shortly after Sora's Pokémon Box activates.
"We didn't just catch some new Pokémon, but we made some new friends too," Kairi said. Sora chuckled.
"You sure got that right," Sora said.
With that said, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel, teached the train station and headed for Wedgehust. They headed off to the airport as soon as they arrived to Postwick.
"Hey! Sora! Kairi!" A familiar female voice called out. They turned to see Sonia behind them. "Enoy your trip in the Galar region?" Sonia asked.
"We did. Now, we're off to the Alola region to say hello to some old friends," Sora said.
"And they'll be in for quite a surprise when they see us again," Kairi added. "But why are you here?"
"It's just, I wanted to. And i just wanted to wish you luck as Pokémon trainers," Sonia said. Sora and Kairi both smiled at that.
"We will," Sora and Kairi both said.
"Flight departing to Mele Mele Island in the Alola region taking off in five minutes. Repeat, flight departing for Mele Mele Islandtaking off in five minutes," an announcer announced.
"Sora! Thats our flight!" Kairi said.
"Then, you better hurry if you don't wanna miss your flight," Sonia said.
"Let's get a move on!" Sora said. The coupe took off as they waved goodbye to Sonia and she waves back at her.
They boarded the plane bound for Mele Mele Island. As they flew on the plane, they were already imagining their surprised and happy faces upon seeing them again. Sora was wondering what surprise Professor Kukui mentioned before. Sora would have have to wait and see, as we all are about to in the next chapter.
