Episode 296: The Land of Subcon: The Land of Night
The whale had arrived to the shore of the Land of Night after three days. They saw arrived to the Land of Night and quickly saw why it's called that. The sky is all night and stars everywhere they looked.
"And here we are, the Land of Night," the whale said.
"Thanks for the lift, big guy," Sora said.
"Think nothing of it. You lot should have no trouble getting to Clawgrip's fortress from here, that's if you don't count the Albatosses dropping Bob-Ombs on you," the whale said.
"We'll keep-a our eyes open," Mario said.
"And make our way to Clawgrip's stronghold and get the key from that crabby crab," Meowth said.
"Good luck on your way. Also, I hope you lot get back home too," the whale said. The group departed from the whale and swam back to the sea.
Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, Mario, Luigi, Sorrel, Verity, Flash, and Timber ventured through the land and gazed up in the starry sky.
"Wow, it's so pretty here," Kairi said.
"It sure is. No wonder it called the Land of Night. I can't tell if it's day or night here," Sora said.
"Yeah, a Hoothoot and a Noctowl would call this place home, that's for sure," Meowth said.
"Twilight would go crazy over the consolations in the night sky," Timber said.
"We should definitely come back here for a date sometime, Kairi," Sora suggested.
"If we weren't on an important mission, we would be," Kairi said.
"She's-a right. Clawgrip's fortress has to be somewhere in the Land of Night," Mario said.
"And it's not like we're going to find it in neon lights," Luigi said.
Over in Clwgrip's fortress, a large crab had just brok open a coconut and drank the milk inside it. The crab threw the empty shell in a pile as he burped.
"What a tasty coconut," the crab said.
"Clawgrip!" Wart called form a crystal ball. Clawgrip went to the crystal ball and answered it.
"Your majesty. How can I be of help?" Clawgrip asked.
"Clawgrip, the band of outsiders have just entered the Land of Night and I need you to capture them at once and regain the four golden keys they have in your possession," Wart said.
"So, they've come. I'm guessing Fry Guy isn't as hot as he thought," Clawgrip said.
"You have your mission. Now, carry on with it," Wart said.
"At once, your highness," Clawgrip said, breaking contact. The large crab clamps his claws. "I would like to see those wimps try to make it in here!" Clawgrip laughed. A Beezo came buzzing in. "What is it?"
"The intruders have made their way to the lake. What are your orders, sir?" The Beezo asked.
"What do you think, you barnacle? Catch them and bring them to the king!" Clawgrip said.
"Yes sir!" The Beezo said.
"And don't let me down or else, You'll be feeling the ultimate pinch," Clawgrip threated. The Beezo gupled.
"Yes sir. I'm on it!" The Beezo said, the Beezo flew off to get to the task at hand.
Back in Pallet Town, Zero and Iris were having a view in the night sky.
"It looks so magical," Iris said.
"It sure does," Zero agreed.
"I think Sora and Kairi had the right idea about this place," Iris said. "It's a true romantic place."
"They sure did. Remind me to thank them when they get back," Zero said.
"I will," Iris said.
"Iris, I just wanna say that I'm sorry this happened," Zero said.
"Zero, it's okay," Iris reassured him.
"No, it's not okay. I was afraid your brother would blame me for this whole mess. I mean if it weren't for those Mavericks," Zero said.
"Zero, you shouldn't blame yourself for something you can't control. My brother isn't mad at you for this," Iris reassured him.
"Not out loud I hope. Anyway, where is he right now?" Zero asked.
"Out on patrol with Impa, Knuckles, Shadow, Rouge, Silver, Duo, and Omega," Iris said.
"Again?" Zero asked.
"He always said that he has to keep on his toes" Iris said. "That's how it is with the Repliforce."
"You were with the Repliforce before we even met, remember?" Zero reminded her.
"That was until I got transferred into the Maverick Hunters. The reason I wanted to join was mainly to be with you, Zero," Iris said.
"I know. I enjoyed having you around, Iris," Zero said.
"I did too," Iris said.
The two Reploids were closing in for a kiss when Zero took a small rock and tossed it to a bush behind her.
"OW!" A voice exclaimed. It turned out to be Axl, hiding in the bushes.
"Axl, how many times have I told you not to spy on me and Iris?" Zero scolded.
"I'm going!" Axl yelped, running off.
"Sorry about that, Iris," Zero apologized.
"It's okay, Zero. I know that wasn't your fault," Iris said. That made the red Maverick Hunter feel better. The two Reploids kiss each other.
Over to Axl, he makes it back to town and bumped into Kirby.
"Hey Kirby," Axl greeted.
"Poyo," Kirby chirped.
"Just got a rock thrown at me because he knew I was trying to get a kiss. It isn't everyday that a Maverick Hunter like him bags a babe like Iris. I looked around and see Amy flirting with Sonic like Spyro and Elora sneaking a few flirts with each other. If only I had a girlfriend," Axl said. Kirby felt bad for the young Reploid. Kirby took out an apple and presented it to Axl.
"Poyo, poyo," Kirby chirped.
"Aw, it's thoughtful of you, buddy," Axl said. He accepted the apple. "I would eat it if I had a human stomach. Also, I think Pikachu and Angel would enjoy this more than I would."
"Poyo," Kirby chirped.
"You want me to keep it anyway?" Axl asked.
"Poyo," Kirby nodded.
"Thanks. I will," Axl said.
Over to Yoshi, he had taken a liking to the berries growing in the bushes. Apart from Dingodile's cooking and also from Delia's, Mirei's, and Kairi's grandmother's cooking. Yoshi extended his tongue to grab a taste of a Tamato Berry. As soon as Yoshi ate it, his cheeks turned red and he shot out a huge fireball.
"That was good," Yoshi said. Yoshi searched around for another Tamato Berry.
Back in Subcon, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, Mario, Luigi, Sorrel, Verity, Flash, and TImber continued onward through the Land of Night. They made their way to a bridge over a cliff what was a long way down.
"Whoa," Sora said.
"A long way down," Meowth said.
"It won't seem that way as long as we don't look down," Timber said.
"Easy for you to say. I get dizzy in high places," Meowth said.
"You get dizzy in low places." - Pikachu subtitle.
"We can-a cross the bridge from-a here. We'll be-a okay just as long-a we don't-a look-a down," Mario said.
"That's a good way of looking at it, Mario," Flash agreed.
"But you sure it's safe to cross it? There could be planks that aren't properly in place," Luigi said.
"Luigi's right. Not only loose planks, but also the bridge could be unstable and come part, so all of us won't make it through," Kairi said.
"That is precisely what I'm worried about," Sorrel said.
"So, who's going to test it out and see if it's safe?" Verity asked.
"It ain;t like we're draw straws or something," Meowth said.
"Good idea, Meowth. I brought some with me," Timber said. Meowth gave a distressed look on his face.
"Damn! I was hoping it'll be a bust!" Meowth exclaimed in his mind. "And with my luck, I'll end up getting the short one."
"Whoever gets the short straw tests to see if it's safe or not," Timber said. Mario picks first and then, Verity takes one. Then it goes in the order of Kairi, Luigi, Pikachu, Angel, Sorrel, Sora, and Meowth. Everyone else gets a long one, but the one who ends up with a short straw is Meowth.
"How did I know I was going to get the short one?" Meowth asked in his thoughts.
"We're counting on you, Meowth," Sora said.
"I can't believe I'm doing this. I must be out of my mind doing this," Meowth said as he approached. the bridge. "Okay, here goes nothing." He takes a step forward on the bridge and goes across. He was worried that a plank will fall off. Sora, Kairi, Pikahcu, Angel, Mario, Luigi, Sorrel, Verity, Flash, and Timber anxiously watched as the scratch cat Pokémon stepped even further. Meowth kept on walking until he got to the other side. "Hey! I made it! What was I worried about?" Not too far, the female bandicoot who helped Harley somehow made it over to Subcon as well. She looked through her binoculars.
"Hm, looks like I'm not the only one who's looking into this after all," the bandicoot said. She was about to take off when a squad of Shy Guys and Snifits quickly surround her.
"It's another one!" One of the Shy Guys said.
"Open fire!" One othe Snifits ordered. The female bandicoot dodged and let out her grappling hook and tied some of them up. The Shy guys all came at her and she whooped them in the same way as catwoman. She ran pass the Shy Guys and Snifits and hitched a ride on an Ostro and rode off.
"Yee-haw! Catch me if you can!" The bandicoot taunted.
"Don't let her get away!" One of the Snifits shouted. The boarded on the remaining Ostros and rode after her. The female bandicoot jumped off and went into another dimesional rift. The Shy Guys and Snifits had lost her trail.
"Where did she go?" One of the Shy Guys asked.
The female bandicoot came out from the rift only to arrive into Ash's world.
"Where am I now?" The female bandicoot asked.
"Hey! Give Pikachu back!" A voice called out. This caught the female bandicoot's attention. She saw what looks like Jessie, James, and Meowth running with Pikachu in a cage. It turned out that the Team Rocket in that earth is still active.
"They're in a rage, and we got the cage!" Jessie said in a rhyme.
"Looks like I got some saving to do," the female bandicoot said. She took out her grappling hook and hurled it right at the cage. She snags the cage right out of their hands.
"No! The cage!" Jessie cried.
"Over there!" James exclaimed.
Ash, Brock, May, and Max saw the cage go into the female bandicoot's hands. She does the lock.
"Now, go!" The female bandicoot said. Pikachu rushes back to Ash.
"Pika!" Pikachu jumped right into Ash's arms.
"Pikachu! I'm glad that you're okay!" Ash said.
"But who was that?" May asked. Team Rocket looked over to her direction.
"Hey! What was the idea of stealing back what we stole?!" James asked in a rage.
"And unfair and square!" Meowth added. The female bandicoot knew it was the same Meowth from before, but from another universe.
"Hey, stopping bad guys is what I do best," the female bandicoot said, jumping before the group. "You should ask the villains I tangoed with in over the years. And they were much deals than you three clowns."
"How dare you!" Jessie sneered.
"For villainy everywhere, we'll put you in your place!" James said.
"Seviper! Go!" Jessie called out as her Seviper comes out to battle.
"You too, Cacnea!" James shouted. Cacnea came out and hugged James. "Ow! That hurts more times than the last!"
"Seriously? A snake and a cactus? If this is a joke, than this is pretty lame," the female bandicoot said.
"Don't you dare make fun of us!" Jessie yelled. "Seviper! Poison Tail!"
"Cacne! Pin Missle!" James ordered. The female bandicoot uses her grappling hook on Seviper and sends the fang snake Pokémon in a twirl before blocking Cacnea's Pin Missle. "Aah! My sweet Cacnea!"
"Now, it's your turn!" The female bandicoot said as she jumped and started to beat up Team Rocket into a pulp. She ties them up and hangs them up in a nearby tree.
"Hey, get us down from here now!" Jessie demanded.
"Actually, I thought you three could just hang around until the cops come and pick you up. Have a nice day," the female bandicoot said.
"Wow, that was awesome. Thanks a lot," May said.
"I just did what anyone would have done. Besides, I was just at the right place at the right time," the female bandicoot said.
"Just who are you?" Ash asked.
"And what are you?" May asked.
"I never seen anything like you before," Max said.
"The name's Tawna. And I'm a bandicoot. And I'm not from this world as you may have guessed," Tawna said.
"You're from another world? How awesome!" Ash said. "Have you met Red or Sora?! Are they?!"
"Nope, never met them," Tawna said.
"Well, since we know your name, you should know ours. I'm Ash, and this is Pikachu," Ash introduced.
"Pikachu!" Pikachu greeted.
"My name's May."
"And I'm Max."
"My name's Brock. And!" Brock said, taking her by the hand. "You are absolutely beautiful even though you're not even human! What do you say that you and I have a romantic outing?" Tawna gave him a kick in the nuts, making Brock squeal. His voice got all high and squeaky, "Why me?!"
"Sorry, I fly solo," Tawna said.
"Just how did you get here in the first place?" Ash asked.
"Got here through a dimensional rift. Someone's been causing all sorts of trouble, so I've been looking into it. Ever since then, I've been wondering from one dimension after another, and that's what led me here," Tawna said.
"Hey, Ash, didn't you and Brock mention going into another dimension before?" May asked.
"Yeah, I did. There was a trainer who Brock, Misty, and I met there. His name is Sora. He had his Pikachu as his first Pokémon just like me," Ash said. He looked at Brock. "You remember, Brock?"
"Now that you mention it, I remember him, his girlfriend, and his nine other friends," Brock said.
"It was when you were dealing with the Shadow Empire way back, right?" Max asked.
"It was. Lately, Sora has been on my mind. I would like to see him again," Ash said.
"I'll tell you what, Ash. How about I tell him that you said hi when I meet him," Tawna said. Ash's face lit up.
"You will?!" Ash exclaimed happily.
"Sure. You can trust me on that. But in the meantime, I got work to do, so later," Tawna said, taking off. Tawna left the four kids to do some more exploring. Ash looked up in the sky and smiled.
"I can bet you're on your own journey right now, Sora," Ash said in his thoughts.
Back in Subcon, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, Mario, Luigi, Sorrel, Verity, Flash, and TImber made it across the bridge, but ran into some trouble. They were being chased by a flock of Albatoss. The red birds were dropping Bob-Ombs in their way.
"Don't let them get away!" One of the Albatosses said. The Albatosses continued their assault on the group. The group tried to avoid them only to meet a Bob-Omb in their path. They were able to kick the sentient bombs out of the way.
"Out of the way!" Sora said, kicking a Bob-Omb out of his path.
More and more Bob-Ombs were being dropped. For some reason, they weren't exploding; not one of them.
"Why aren't they exploding?" Kairi asked.
"Because we need you alive to deliever you to King Wart," a lone Shy Guy said. "And if you don't want to be a part of the fireworks show, then you'll surrender real peaceful like." The Shy holds one of the Bob-Ombs in front of them and ready to light its fuse.
"Okay, okay, don't blow a fuse! You win! We'll do whatever you say," Sora said.
"You made a real smart decision, kid. We'll take them back to the tree fortress," the Shy Guy said. The red birds grabs them in their talons and fly off to their fortress.
"Sora, why surrender? We could have taken them," Meowth said.
"There were way too many Bob-Ombs. Besides, I got an ace up my sleeve," Sora said.
The Albatosses drops the group down to the front of the fortress. The Shy Guy places the Bob-Omb down in front of them, just in case they try to get away.
"We're going inside to report to General Clawgrip. All of you stay here and don't you get any ideas about running, becuase this Bob-Omb has an extremely short fuse," the Shy Guy said. He turned to the sentient bomb. "You watch 'em." The Shy Guy ran inside to inform Clawgrip as the Albatoss squad flew in with him.
"So, what's the next phase of your plan, Sora?" Meowth asked.
"Just watch," Sora said. "Hey, Bob-Omb, has anyone ever told you that you are UGGGG-LLLYYYY? I've seen better looking bombs after they exploded. I bet you had to sneak up behind a match just to get a light." The taunting has infuriated the Bob-Bomb. "Also Bob-Omb is literally the worse name I have ever heard!" The Bob-Omb got even more angrier and then the fuse lit up. "Everyone run inside!" Not needing to be told twice, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, Mario, Luigi, Sorrel, Verity, Flash, and Timber all followed Sora as they all ran inside. The Bob-Omb explodes, causing the entrance to cave in.
"Wow, Sora, your plan worked like a charm," Sorrel said.
"You planned all that?" Meowth asked.
"You were asleep when we were planning on how to get here, Meowth, and we were about to explain it to you when those birds came earlier than we expected," Sora said.
"We should go in further, because those guys are gonna get wise to us pretty fast," Flash said.
"Flash is right. Clawgrip will send every soldier in here to nab us," Sorrel said.
"Well, we better be ready for them all the same," Sora said. He and Kairi took out their Pokémon Boxes and exchanged their five Pokémon for Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee, Primeape, Hariyama, Passimian, Tyrogue, Machop, Magby, Elekid, and Smoochum. The couple lets out their chosen Pokémon to fight the 8-Bits, coming their way.
Back in Kanto, Link and Pit were doing some sparring with their weapons. Link maged to block with his shield, but pressed on the attacks himself. Linkle, Ventus, Hunter, Bianca, the Robot Masters and Rainbow Dash were watching the action. Sonic was watching from the rooftop. Lea wondered what the commotion was about, so he went to see for himself.
"How have those two been at it?" Lea asked.
"About five minutes," Linkle said.
"They said they had to keep on their toes when facing Ganondorf and the other villains," Hunter said. He spotted Scorbunny nuzzling Bianca's leg. "Bianca."
"What?" Bianca asked. The cheetah didn't say anything, he just pointed to his girlfriend's leg. She saw the rabbit Pokémon nuzzling her.
Link and Pit took a breather from their training. They looked at each other and they gave a respectful nod to each other.
"Not bad, Pit. You're quite a swordsman. No wonder Palutena had you captain of her guard," Link said with a compliment.
"Right back at you, Link. And that is a pretty wicked sword you got there. Just how did you get your hands on it?" Pit asked.
"Oh this? I got the Master Sword from the forest after passing some tests," Link said.
"What kind of test?" Pit asked.
"I ventured through the land of Hyrule to recive three pendants from certain locations. The pendants represented a piece of the Triforce. The pendants were of courage, wisdom, and power like the three Goddesses themselves," Link explained.
"Right, I remember. Ganondorf is sure doing a number in the multiverse," Pit said.
"I can tell you that's what Zelda is worried about," Link said.
Back in Subcon, the Shy Guy led Clawgrip to the entrance.
"You sure they're here somewhere?" Clawgrip asked.
"Yes sir, general. We have them right at the entrance and everything," the Shy Guy said. He flinched when he saw the entrance caved in. "Oh no! The entrance!"
"You said you had them and I don't see them? What happened?" Clawgrip asked.
"They were right here and everything! They surrendered willingly and we brought them right here! I told one of our Bob-Ombs to stand watch to keep them from escaping!" The Shy Guy said.
"They should be on the other side, shouldn't they? Tied up, right?" Clawgrip asked. The Shy Guy gulped when he realized he didn't tie them up.
"Um, they should be on the other side of the rubble," the Shy Guy said, sweating up a storm. He chuckled nervously, but Clawgrip wasn't amused.
"You did tie them up, just so they wouldn't escape, didn't you?" Clawgrip asked.
"Um, no. They surrendered willingly, so I didn't see there was any point in tying them up," the Shy Guy said. "And then I told the Albatosses to fly on patrol after we landed."
"YOU IMBECILE! YOU LET THEM GET AWAY!" Clawgrip yelled. "THEY MIGHT HAVE RAN OFF IN THE LAND OF NIGHT FOR ALL WE KNOW!" A Spark appeared above them.
"General Clawgrip! General Clawgrip!" The Spark exclaimed.
"What is it now?" Clawgrip asked.
"A band of invaders and their pets are in the fortress right now! They're tearing the place apart!" The Spark reported.
"So, this was a trick and you fell for it! Spread out and find them now!" Claw ordered, throwing the Shy Guy against the wall.
"Yes sir," the Shy Guy said. The Shy Guy ran to inform some of the others. Clawgrip knew the group were on their to find the fifth golden key, so he had to beat them to the punch.
Over to Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, Mario, Luigi, Sorrel, Verity, Flash, and TImber, they fought their way through the tree fortress. Several Beezos were coming at them from the sky, but Pikachu and Elekid lands a shocking surprise as Magby fired Incinerate at them. Smoochum on with a Blizzard she had recently learned as Primeape, Tyrogue, and Machop grabbed them and gave them a toss. Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee gave the Shy Guys and Snifits a punch in the masks. Mario and Luigi fought back by using their hammers. They all continued onward, leaving the injured enemies behind.
Once outside, they charged forward on as several more Albatosses tried to swoop down at them.
"No mistakes this time! Drop some Bob-Ombs on them to keep them from escaping!" One of the Albatosses ordered. The Albatoss squad dropped the Bob-Ombs only to be thrown back at them.
"Not falling for that again!" Sora said. He threw a Bob-Omb at the Albatosses. Several Pansers fires some fireballs at them. Kairi was about to tell Smoochum to launch an attack, but Flash and Timber stepped in.
"Leave them to us!" Flash said, throwing some vegetables at them. The Pansers got hit by the veggies. Sorrel's Lucario and Verity's Piplup did the work of several Beezos in the sky.
They kept on going through the tree fortress until they spotted a red Birdo, guarding Clawgrip's quarters.
"The only way you'll get to that key is through me!" The red Birdo said.
"And that's what we're going to do," Sora said. The red Birdo fires fireballs at the group, but Hitmonchan blocks with Fire Punch. The red Birdo kept on firing with her eggs as Sora and Mario grabbed them in mid-air and hurled them right at the red Birdo. "Take this!"
"Ouch! Stop doing that!" The red Birdo yelped and fell off. "How could you!" The group entered Clawgrip's lair and saw the large crab waiting for them.
"Arr, so you're the ones causing all the trouble. That short cut I took sure came in handy, when it came to beating you here before you could nab the key!" Clawgrip said.
"You could make it easy for us and just hand it over to us nice and quietly," Sora said.
"You're going have to pry it from my claws before I hand over the key to the likes of you!" Clawgrip said, clamping his claws. "But first, how about I about I offer you a treat? Help yourselves to some ROCK candy!" Clawgrip hurls a rock at them.
"Mama Mia!" Mario cried.
"I'm not hungry!" Sora said. Clawgrip throughs another rock at them. "Pikachu! Iron Tail!" Pikachu swings his tail and smacks the rock right back at the crab. The rock strikes the evil crustacean on the mark.
"Ouch! Don'cha know it's rude to throw rocks at your hosts?!" Clawgrip asked.
"Don't YOU know that's it's rude to throw rocks at your visitors?" Sora countered.
"Why you! I'll get you for this!" Clawgrip comes at them and they dodge. Clawgrip turned and clamped at Kairi, making her duck. Sora grabs one of Clawgrip's rocks and threw it at him. "Ouch!"
"You keep your claws off my girlfriend or I'll turn you into a crab cake!
Sora said.
"Pika!" Pikachu said.
"I'll teach you, you spiky-headed brat!" Clawgrip roared heading for Sora. Hitmonchan lands a punch and Hitmonlee lands a kick onto Clawgrip. "Ouch!" Sorrel, Verity, Flash, and Timber hurled some rocks at the crab.
"What's the matter, you feeling Krabby?" Verity taunted.
"Come here you little shrimps!" Clawgrip yelled. Everyone all grabbed a rock and threw them right at Clawgrip, giving nowhere to run. Clawgrip struck a wall. The ceiling above the crab crumbles and he gets buried in the debris. Wit Clawgrip now defeated the fifth golden key appears before the group and Sora grabs the key in his hands.
"Got it!" Sora said.
"Pika, Pika!" Pikachu cheered for their victory.
"That makes five," Luigi said.
"Now we got one more to retrieve," Sorrel said.
"And one more to area to go to," Flash said.
"We should be careful since this last general will be different from the next one," Sora said. Wart watched the whole ordeal from his crystal ball and growled in anger.
"Five of my generals have failed to catch them! General Guy will have to make up where they had failed," Wart said. He makes contact with his next general is a white Shy Guy wearing a military outfit.
"King Wart, your majesty. What do I owe the honor of this call?" The white Shy Guy asked.
"General Guy, Mouser, Tryclyde, Tyrone, Fry Guy, and Clawgrip all have failed and you are my last remaining general. I am ordering you and your Shy Guy army to capture them at once!" Wart commanded.
"Yes, sire! I'll have my forces keep an out for those intruders and bring them to you!" General Guy said.
"Guard the final golden key with your life or else!" Wart threatened.
"Yes, your majesty! I won't let that key out of my sight! My soldiers will see to that!" General Guy said. Wart broke contact with him. Later, General Guy has assembled Shy Guys from all over. All the Shy Guys were all in different colors. Red, Pink, Blue, Green, Yellow, Purple, Black, light blue, gray, orange, and white. "My fellow Shy Guys! There's word going around that our forces has failed to capture some intruders in the kingdom of Subcon! These outsiders threatens our very way of life as we speak. Many of our Shy Guy brothers has been affected by these outsiders and this act of assault will never be forgiven! The assaults against our brothers by these aliens is a direct insult to Shy Guys everywhere! King Wart has given us the honor of bringing these despicable criminals to justice! For the glory of the Shy Guy race! For the Kingdom of Subcon! And in the name of the king, we shall prevail and win this war!" All the Shy Guys cheered as the Shy Guy general has concluded his speech. "Now, my brothers! We shall prepare for battle because, even as we speak, the enemies are on their way to our very doorstep!
