Drabble 6: I saw you in a vision
He dreams of him three months before he actually meets him.
In the middle of the night, as he's sleeping next to his beautiful girlfriend, Kai catches the first glimpses of the man meant to be his destiny.
Every curve. Every ridge. Flawless.
When he opens his eyes the next morning, his face is all he can think of. Kai goes through the routine motions of his life for an agonizing three months before his path crosses that of the other man's. Till that day arrives, his head and his heart constantly revisits the lines of the body he'd seen with his eyes closed.
When he kisses his equally untouchable and successful girlfriend, who matches his every stride and draws even with Kai on all grounds. The woman he'd deemed perfect to assume the role of his partner for the rest of his life. He thinks of the lips of a man he had never met.
On the fated day of April fourteenth, during the grand finale of an international athletic meet, sitting amongst presidents and decorated personalities, with his girlfriend by his side, amidst flashing cameras and gossip mongers, Kai sees the person whom he had only seen in his dreams and visions with his two eyes. On the track, quick as a car, crossing the finish line ahead of everyone else, the red ribbon plastered against his chest.
He meets him later in the day, after the sun had set and he had changed into a well-fitted suit. Kai drinks in his features the way an art lover would appreciate the greatest of paintings. His eyes are dark. The air about him confident and playful at the same time. His name is Tyson. Kai notices the same glimmer of recognition in Tyson's eyes that he holds in his own.
The pull between them is magnetic. And when Kai calls Tyson aside for a private chat, he follows easily. They have a charged conversation hidden in the shadowed recesses of the hotel outside the party hall. The drinks in their hands disappear. So does the space between their bodies. Kai invites him upstairs. He does not turn him down.
When their lips touch in the dark, the universe around them shudders. Stars shatter and planets spin out of orbits. The air surrounding them bursts aflame and swirls around them in tiny sparks. Tyson's lips quiver on Kai's. Their hands have to find each other for balance. Somewhere in the building, a chandelier smashes on the ground into smithereens. Oblivious to all of it, Kai pulls the love of his life closer to himself by the waist. Tyson's arms lock behind his head. They stay like that for ages.
