I don't own Avatar the Last Airbender.
Katara didn't know how they had crossed the bridge, but what she did know was that it was wonderful to be pressed against the wall of the corridor close to their room. Aang's hands were still on her waist, and he was kissing her throat once more. Spirits… and they couldn't… If someone found out, or heard them…
But it was too wonderful.
She had not planned on this happening… But the moment she had seen Aang, happy… Tui and La, at that moment, it had been too much.
"A… Aang, our room…" She managed to croak as the airbender's hands roamed upwards. He released her then, quickly walking to the door of their shared bedroom, opened it, and then turned to her.
"Come on!" His voice sounded like it came from far away, but that was probably her own mind playing tricks on her. Katara stepped inside the room and heard the door fall close behind her. The moment she heard that, she also felt hand around her once more. Turning around back to face the airbender, the waterbender saw those silver eyes, with that look…
She couldn't resist, and kissed him. Days of worries and overthinking slipped away as her lips moved against those of the airbender. No sound. As long as they didn't make any sound whatsoever… This could last the whole night. Sure, the temple was apparently built to annoy her with all the echoing… But she would accept that. As long as they could continue like this.
As Katara pressed her mouth against him, she could feel the long fingers of the airbender press into her ribs. In the corridor, he had begun to move upwards… And she knew what he had been planning… And she welcomed it. After all the tragedies of the last few days… Spirits, just the physical touch made her feel better.
The moment those fingers arrived at the bottom of her breasts, she couldn't help it but sighed into the kiss. This felt nice…
"Shhh…" Aang whispered, as his lips disconnected from her, just for a brief moment. He didn't sound too convincing. For some reason, Katara suspected that the airbender loved the sounds they made whenever… This happened. And to be honest, she loved it when he made sounds. She had never thought about it before, because whenever she had heard her parents do… That… when she was little… She had only heard her mother.
Once, Katara still remembered despite having been… what, four years old? She had gone to investigate to check whatever those sounds had been. And Tui and La, she still wished she could unsee that.
Aang's hands pressed more firmly into her flesh and she sighed once more. That kind of sound couldn't travel that far, could it? And she needed him… So very much…
"Get this off." Katara whispered as their lips moved apart, tugging on his tunic that hung from his left shoulder. As she slipped the silken fabric from his shoulder, the scar from the cut that he had got there in Ba Sing Se became visible. Bending her head towards it, the waterbender kissed the raw skin. She didn't care, she had seen every scar, every imperfection… And he was as handsome as he could be, because those imperfections made him who he was.
Aang.
His hands released her breasts and moved downwards, back to her waist, and then to her hips.
"Can we get rid of this?" His question came with a soft breath of air against her forehead, where his lips were… He had grabbed a handful of her dress, and Katara knew what he meant.
"Yes." She breathed against his shoulder. His hands moved towards the clasps on the right side of the dress, and one by one, Katara felt them open. As the silk around her loosened, she knew that they couldn't go any further than this… If they did… Just imagine that Zuko heard them… If the prince knew about them… Spirits, that would be dangerous.
Aang's hands moved to her shoulder and pulled down the dress. As Katara felt the fabric fall off her torso, she sighed once more at the liberating feeling. Sure, she still wore her bindings… But she knew perfectly well that that would not last too long. And sure enough, the airbender's fingers were searching to the knot in the silken bands.
"You're beautiful…" His voiced murmured, and the waterbender smiled against his shoulder. Tui and La this was too good… She had missed doing this. The last time something physical had happened between them… Was before the Invasion? Yes, that was it. It had been just a few days… But those few days felt like years, with the loss of so many people during the battle, and then, the trauma of hiding in the Temple… It had been too much. And to see Aang happy, for the first time after so much sadness… Well, it had lit a fire, and she wasn't sure if she could put it out, even if Katara had wanted to.
"Yes!" She heard him whisper. The bindings loosened suddenly around her chest, and the waterbender let out a laugh, before slapping her hand against her mouth.
They both froze. Standing still, the fabric was still around her, held up by Aang, as they listened to the silence around them. She had made too much noise. But it was funny! The airbender had seriously celebrated the fact that he was going to see her chest.
"Anyone?" She whispered to him.
"Don't think so… But I can only feel around me… Someone could be on the terrasse, and I wouldn't know…" Aang murmured back, as his eyes closed. She knew he was concentrating on finding movement around them. After a minute, he just shrugged.
"Nothing." And his fingers let go of the fabric.
Her upper bindings fell to the floor, and Katara felt how the airbender put his hands back to her waist, looking her into the eyes. She loved this. Each time they did something like this, Aang would not glue his eyes directly at what he uncovered. It added… A sense of intimacy. She knew that he loved seeing her like this… but that for them, it wasn't the most important. The fact that it was with each other that they did this… That was important.
His hands grabbed her more firmly, and he began to move them towards the niche that had become their bed. Katara shuffled backwards, all the while keeping her eyes fixed on his grey ones… As long as they didn't make any sound… They could go as far as they wanted. But not that. That was for when they could get away, properly.
But as long as they didn't make too much sound… Everything was on the table.
The stone of the niche hit her against the back of her knees, and Katara quickly sat down on the blankets they were using as the mattress inside the alcove. It wasn't the most comfortable place she had ever slept in… But it was good enough because it was their "bed".
"Spirits Tara…" The airbender whispered as she shuffled into their bed. His eyes finally rested on her chest, and she smiled.
"Like what you see, don't you?" And to her own utter surprise, she moved her shoulders, and made her whole torso move with it. It was such a… Well, not her usual kind of thing to do, suggestive movements like that... It seemed to surprise Aang too. As his eyes followed the movement her breasts made, Katara saw that his gaze was one of confusion, but pure happy confusion.
"I'm not doing that again!" She laughed, very softly to make sure no one heard.
"Great spirits, I hope that is a lie." He whispered back. Katara saw how he also sat down on their bed, but while she was just sitting against the back wall of the niche, he sat in front of her on his knees. Spirits… Those eyes…with that look. Grinning, Katara quickly pulled off her sandals and threw them away, into a dark corner of the room.
She took him in, as he sat in front of her. The airbender had his tunic hanging from where the sash kept it around his waist, but his chest and shoulder were bare. Licking her lips as she watched that part of him, she looked down, past his waist, to where his pants were looking… a bit tight. Smiling at that fact, Katara moved her eyes back up to his.
"So… What are we going to do?" She had wanted to sound seductive, but it came out as a rather… awkward question. Spirits, no! They had been doing so well, without the embarrassment of the last few times…
"Oh… I have some ideas…" Aang grinned as he whispered those words, and the awkwardness she feared disappeared as quickly as it had come. Raising an eyebrow, the waterbender put a finger against her lips.
No sound.
"Who said anything about making sounds?" The airbender still smiled as he approached, shuffling on his knees towards her. Katara grinned back, knowing that this was probably going to be good…
His hands were back on her waist, and she felt how his lips brushed against her cheek. She let her own fingers travel from the airbender's shoulders over his arms, following the path his tattoos drew over the skin towards his hands. As she arrived at the arrow part of the tattoos, the waterbender moved her fingers upwards, back to the shoulders. The skin underneath the tips of her fingers shivered, and it was clear that this was also good for him.
His lips began to move from her cheek to her jaw, and Katara lifted her head up, as if it was the most natural thing to do. Aang didn't stay long at her jaw, travelling down to her throat. She had to smile, knowing he was probably trying with all his might not to go too fast to the place her wanted to bury his face.
"Aang…" She began, but stopped, grinning. No sound. With his head down at her throat, she was in the perfect position to kiss his head. Closing in, she put her lips softly against the arrow on his forehead. That thing that made him so purely Aang… That what symbolized what and who he was… The sweetest and most kindhearted person she had ever met… Who would never let his own personal tragedies show if he could make the day brighter for anyone else. Maybe he considered those traumas his own personal vulnerabilities and choose not to show them… Except with her. And she loved that.
Not that those vulnerabilities were born out of such tragedy… But rather, that he felt comfortable enough with her to share them with her. And Katara understood. So well… With anyone else, like Toph or any of the other friends she had made during their journey… It was difficult to talk about what happened with her home, with her family… There was Sokka, who understood perfectly well, because he had been there…
And then, there was Aang. Someone who had known peace, and who, being confronted with the horrors of war, didn't feel the same kind of acceptance like some did.
He was not like It is what it is.
No, Aang was horrified by what happened around him. And he understood her own traumas because of that. And that made him so easy to trust with her own vulnerabilities. Because he was horrified when hearing about it as she was every day.
His lips travelled to her collarbone. And stayed there, softly kissing the skin between her throat and the place she supposed he wanted to go. Shaking off the dark thoughts Katara had been having, she turned back to kissing him on the top of his head, as her hands moved to the deep red sash around his waist. Finding the knot that held the fabric tight, she began to undo it. It wasn't fair that she was sitting there with a bare chest and that he had still some sort of decency, was it?
Throwing the red fabric away, towards where her shoes were lying on the ground, she grabbed the silk of Aang's tunic. The fabric was actually not quite a tunic, but rather a very long piece of cloth, wrapped around the airbender's body. So, very easy to remove as soon as the sash was gone…
The orange and yellow silk also fly through the air to join the sash and shoes.
"I…" She heard him whisper, but he didn't finish his sentence. Then, he moved lower with his lips. First, the hot breath passed over the top of her breast, only to travel to the centre of her right breast… To her nipple. Yes, she had told Aang that she loved to be touched there… But to feel him commit to that so eagerly…
As soon as his lips closed around the bud on her chest, she sighed. Quickly biting her lower lip, she tried not to make any sound as the airbender alternated between soft kisses on her nipple, and then something that surprised her. Katara had told him she liked to pinch them… But he bit softly into it…
The moment he did that, she groaned softly. And the waterbender couldn't help it… Of course they shouldn't make any noise… But how was she supposed to keep quiet when he did that?
"Tara…" Aang protested gently, and his lips disconnected from her skin.
"Your fault Air Head." She whispered back, and put a fist against her mouth. If he did that again… She would have to bite down on her own hand. But he didn't… His head moved back upwards, to face her.
"Katara… If… If we are careful… Like, really careful… Maybe we could…" His eyes looked at her with a hesitant gaze in them. And she knew what he meant. They couldn't, could they? A few doors down, that firebender was trying to sleep…
And Aang had said it himself. Sound travels in this temple…
"Yes." She spoke, contradicting all her thoughts. But Katara didn't care. "But the moment we can't… you know, keep quiet… we will have to stop, right?" Her lust dazed mind acknowledged that at least.
"Really?" The airbender sounded surprised, but at the same time, really glad. Grinning, she nodded. Spirits, this had not been the plan… But now that she was there, she didn't care about the plan. Katara didn't care about someone finding out… Tui and La, who would care? The Fire Nation already knew about them!
So who would care if they did this small little thing, that wouldn't change anything in the grand scheme of things… but would make her and Aang so happy?
His hands had moved down to her waist, and Katara could feel him try to shimmer the dress further down.
"Wait a minute." She whispered, smiling at his enthusiasm. Removing her own fingers from his shoulders, the waterbender unclasped the fastening at her hip. Pulling the dress from her waist down, to her ankles, she grabbed it as it moved over her feet and tossed it into the dark of the room. Probably to join the rest of her clothes…
She just had her lower bindings now… And what had been supposed to be a rather chaste make out session was becoming something else entirely. And she didn't care anymore. Aang had moved as she had undressed herself, and was now pulling at his boots. One came off quite easily, but the other was stuck.
"Spirits, that sticky stuff got into my boot…" The airbender whispered, and Katara laughed softly at the irritation in his voice. Avatar Aang, wielder of three elements and learning a fourth… Was defeating by a sticky shoe.
"Here, let me help." She suggested, and hopped off the blankets of their bed to stand in front of the airbender. His eyes followed her movements, and she became acutely aware that it was a bit… weird? No, that was not the word... but to help him remove a sticky boot, in her state of undress… It would have looked comical to anyone entering.
Grabbing the airbender's foot, he began to pull, while Aang pushed himself towards the deeper side of the niche that was their bed. The boot moved slightly, making a rather unceremoniously wet noise as the foot and the fabric of the boot began to detach.
"Aang!" She teased him gently, grinning at him.
"Seriously, fart jokes? And I thought Sokka had all the humour in the family!" The airbender teased right back, as the boot came off. She just rolled her eyes as she yanked his dark trousers down. It always amused her that, even through their… sessions… They always found a way to laugh.
The waterbender had other plans than tell dumb jokes. Now that he was with his back on the blankets, it was her turn. Before he could even move, she sat right down on his lap. With her knees on either side of his hips, she felt how excited he actually was through the fabric of his underpants and her bindings… Well… That wouldn't do. She bent down, kissing his chest as she felt his hands softly caressing her back.
Still, they didn't make any noise… So far, so good.
As long as they didn't make any sound…
She moved her lips from his chest, lower and lower… She passed his belly button… And lower. The trail of little hair that went from his stomach towards his underpants…
Looking up at the airbender's eyes, Katara saw that he had propped himself up on his elbows, and watched her, with those silver-grey eyes that were now dark… Dark with that look…
"Tara…" He groaned softly as she hooked her thumbs into the waistband of the brown underclothing.
"Yes?" She answered whispering and grinning.
He didn't answer that, so she pulled the last of his clothing down. His member was stiff. Licking her lips as she watched it, she then looked once more in the airbender's eyes. The orbs expressed every emotion she was feeling: desire, lust, love…
Would she… Well, why not?
Bending down once more, she pressed her lips against the tip of Aang's member. It tasted exactly like she remembered from that one time she had actually taken it into her mouth. The airbender groaned softly, but when she looked up, Katara saw that he had grabbed a corner of one of the blankets and had it against his mouth. Yeah, that would have been a better idea than biting down on one's hand…
She moved her lips over the tip, letting her tongue graze over it. She heard muffled grunts, and smiled. Surely, that sound had not travelled. Surely, they weren't making too much noise… So, they could go on.
"Ka…tara…" His hand was on her shoulder, and she looked up. His eyes were on her, and she saw the desperate soft gaze.
"I can't… Well, if you do that any longer…" He whispered, and she nodded. Each time she did something like that, he didn't want her to do that too long. Perhaps… Perhaps it was a good idea to try to do this at a moment where they didn't want to go further? Like, just give him that. And not… that. Was that a thing? Surely it was.
Katara moved up, and lay down next to Aang. It was quite clear what was going to happen… And she didn't want to stop.
His hands moved over her stomach, towards the lower bindings. As he found the not holding the fabric in place, his grey eyes looked at her.
"Can I…"
The waterbender nodded, and felt the fingers fumble around her hip, before the linen bands loosened around her waist. Lifting her rear up, so that Aang could remove them more easily, the hands of the airbender mowed around, pulling the bands off.
The moment she felt the last part of her clothing fall off her skin, she looked at him. His eyes were fixed on what they had just uncovered, and Katara smiled.
"You're beautiful…" He said that each time, and each time, it sounded more genuine. She sighed softly as the airbender's fingers began to dance over her hip, clearly having one destination in mind.
"No Aang." She whispered, kissing his cheek.
"What?" He murmured as his fingers touched her centre.
"Just… Just check if it is ready… I don't think I could hold my noises if you did… that…" She spoke quietly into his ear. Each time he used his mouth there… Well, Katara knew that she was not exactly quiet…
"But you still want…"
"Yes, but I'll need that cover." She nodded to the blanket that was still next to the airbender. If they were going to do that… Better to make sure her noises were not easily recognizable.
"I want to try something." She whispered, turning on her left side, away from the airbender, "I read about this… Ehm… You need to be behind me… And enter… well, from there." Katara whispered, as the blanket was put next to her. Grabbing it in her hands, she pulled it against herself as she felt how Aang also turned on his side behind her.
"Like this?" He murmured in her ear as a hand was put on her hip.
"Exactly like that." She answered.
The hand travelled down slightly, and grabbed her right leg, just above her knee. The airbender lifted it slightly, and after a bit of fumbling, she felt him align against her entrance.
As he slowly pushed into her, Katara quickly put the blanket against her face. It felt wonderful from this angle… So she knew what would happen. Better to drown as much noise as possible…
As she groaned into the blanket, Aang pushed deeper. She bit her lip as she felt his other hand travel over her ribs to her breasts. This felt nice… And it acted as a sort of medicine against the horrors of the last few days…
Knock knock.
Immediately, Katara could feel the airbender freeze behind her. With his hand on her breast and his member deep inside they lay there, listening to the sound.
"Who is there?" She called, removing the blanket from her face to speak.
"Sokka." Her brother's voice came from behind the door.
Shit.
Katara bit her lip as the airbender slid out of her, and he sat up on the bed. Spirits, they had been doing so well… But her brother probably came to speak to them about what they had been doing, to say that they couldn't do that… So… They had been heard…
"Wait a second." Aang spoke loudly, and it sounded wrong, as they had been talking in whispers the whole time.
Katara stood up, searching through the bags. The nightshirt she had bought months ago had been lost when Ba Sing Se fell, but she found Aang's grey shirt from his Fire Nation disguise. It seemed big enough to cover her up… So, she pulled it over her head and looked down. The shirt came his over her hips… Well, if she kept the blanket over her legs, it would serve… It would seem that they had been preparing for bed.
In the meantime, she saw how Aang pulled his trousers up, with an irritated look on his face. The happiness and carelessness they had been feeling was gone, in an instance…
"Come in." Aang's voice had also changed, sounding tired.
Her brother entered just as she pulled the blanket over her legs. The look on his face seemed… well, conflicted.
"Hey, sorry to barge in here like this, at this hour… But I couldn't sleep…" Her brother sighed, sitting down on the edge of the niche in front of her.
So, you decide to bother us, in the middle of a private moment?
Of course, she didn't say that.
"What is the problem?" She asked, putting her back against the back wall of the alcove, keeping the blanket over her knees.
"Well… Zuko seemed rather friendly with you. Do you want to explain why?" Sokka turned to the airbender. Ah… yes, she had also wanted to ask Aang about that… But it hadn't seemed like the right moment.
"He didn't betray us… And the dragons made some valid points. He came to us, knowing fully well that we could have killed him. He took the first step, and never lied. Believe me, I asked Toph to confirm it." Aang sighed, sitting down next to her.
"And?" Her brother gestured for the airbender to continue.
"The dragons said something that hit me. Your father has already written you off long ago. And Zuko didn't seem surprised… Rather, sad that his suspicions were true. He looked those dragons in the eyes and accepted that truth. And at that moment I knew. He would never go back to his father… Guys, I think his father gave him that scar. When we talked about fighting Ozai, he said that no one would want to fight the Fire Lord, as if he spoke of experience…". Aang said softly, and Katara suspected it was in case the firebender could hear them.
"And you trust him, because of that?" Sokka asked.
Answer no, please…
"Yes. We used him as a tool before. Now, it is time that everyone trusts each other. Otherwise, we will never win." The airbender answered.
Her brother nodded and stood up. Looking at them, he suddenly smiled. But not his happy smile… Rather, his sad smile.
"Good night." He said, and opened the door, walking out. As the door fell close behind him, Katara looked at the airbender.
"Well… That killed the mood…" She sighed.
"Yeah…"
"So… sleep?" Spirits, she hated it. To be interrupted, and talk about the prince… And their actions had been reckless, to say the least…
"Yeah… sleep." Aang sighed as he rubbed the sides of his head.
Sokka stood behind the door, looking towards the right, where the night sky could be seen at the terrasse.. He had gone to speak to Aang, to ask him… Ask him for help with something. But the moment he had felt the love that hung between the airbender and his sister when he entered that room… He knew he couldn't do that to them.
He couldn't ask the airbender to come and help him. Actually, it had been a stupid idea. His friend was easily the most recognizable person in the world…
And he couldn't do that to Katara. The plan that had been forming in his head was way too dangerous… Rescuing the invasion force? Or even a part of it? It would increase their chance of survival, at least a bit…
And to be honest, what else was he supposed to do? Those men had counted on him to lead them through the invasion… And he had not kept up his end of the bargain. He had not given the victory he had promised them. So the least he could do, was to free them.
Aang had been the obvious choice. The airbender was a force of nature if he wanted to… And he also had a debt to pay to these men. But… Who else could help him get inside a Fire Nation prison? So, he had asked the other question he had wanted to ask.
Did his friend trust the firebender. If so, he could be a big help…
And yes, he trusted him.
Looking to the left side, where the corridor continued towards the room of the firebender, Sokka knew what to do.
He turned left.

Alyssa: That is a bummer! I hope that also goes away quickly! Oh, I have had a block, for a few days, but I have some chapters written in advance sometimes, so that bridges the block most of the time lol! I'm also planning the sequel to this story, but is won't follow the comics, at all… So, I need to do some planning!
Kalaong: I think their love is one of the reasons Aang managed to stay so positive that they would change the world. Each time that the pressure became too much, Katara was there to reassure him. And that is the definition of love. Supporting the other at their weakest point, and knowing you can count on them, whatever happens.
Jjsmith103: Yes, I know that I changed Aang's character quite bit, to become much more brooding and slightly sadder. But I still want him to have that optimism and goofiness. About their relationship, yeah, if you are in a good relationship, it develops without you even noticing, so I wanted to show that with them. And of course, I put some bumps in the road, but that is the story… And yes, Katara would not immediately ruin his happiness by telling him about the nun.
Rak: Exactly, they are good friends before being lovers, so that dynamic stays. But to it, there is that added love and physical need that it still a bit foreign to them both. And even though they are becaming more relaxed, they are still new to it and don't understand everything.
