Drabble 18: Not Your OTP

Nothing will ever happen between them.

Nothing could.

They are too far out of depth with each other. Too different. They don't have anything in common. No shared interests, hobbies, views, principles or backgrounds.

Nothing can or will ever happen between them. Which is why neither of them thought twice before plunging head first into a fake relationship with each other.

Sure, Tyson thinks Kai is attractive. Kai may even think Tyson is not too bad to look at. But there is no potential danger in what they are doing right now - purely for their friends' sakes. And if none of these things are enough reason as to why their plan is fail proof, Kai likes someone else.

Tyson bats his eyelashes and thinks about all of the afore mentioned things as Kai takes a long, deep breath through his nose and leans sideways across the space between their two chairs for a kiss. Their first kiss. Both Hilary and Michael watch them from the other side of the table in the coffee shop as Tyson slides Kai a forced sweet smile.

He tries not to think too much about it and just goes for it. It's not just their first fake kiss. It's also his first kiss. Fake or real, Tyson has never kissed anyone, and he kind of regrets not having kissed Emily last week when he had had the chance. This wouldn't have been so nerve wracking.

It doesn't mean anything. This doesn't count. It's not a real kiss. He tells himself before leaning forward to press his lips against Kai's, holding his breath. Kai's holding his too. Is that the norm? Is this how people kiss? They hold their breath? How long does it take to get out of breath?

Kai's lips are surprisingly cool and soft against his. And he feels his breath tickle the skin above his lip after a couple seconds. Tyson had inhaled a whiff of Kai's scent along with his breath earlier. It's a clean heady mix of aftershave and soap. And a hint of something stronger that he's going to associate with Kai from here onwards.

There's an unexpected flutter of butterflies in his stomach when Kai pulls away after a couple more seconds and leans back in his seat. Tyson brushes it off as a result of having never been kissed before and beams at his friends who grin back at him and Kai.

Good. They make a believable pair.

A/N: its a small college au im going to write. The summary would probably go something like:

Tyson will never be Kai's first choice. Or second choice. Or third. He's the last person on earth he would be friends with let alone date. And as for Tyson, well Tyson believes love is for people who have similar hobbies or interests, or at the very least, compatible personalities. He and Kai are nothing alike and have nothing in common. When circumstances call for the two to agree on a fake relationship with each other, they jump in without a second thought, because what could go wrong?

A realistic look into the relationship between two very different people? Can love happen between two polar opposite individuals or is that only in fiction?
