Episode 318: Following A Maiden's Voyage
We begin by having a look at Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, Ventus, Terra, and Aqua taking a cruise towards the Sinnoh region. Sora was looking at the new Pokédex he got from Professor Oak before they left. Sora was fortunate that he got to share this new experience with his girlfriend again. Also with his cousin and his two friends. Sora wondered how the Alolan nine were doing in Alola. Sora looked up as a flock of Wingull and Pelipper were flying by. Kairi hugs Sora from behind."Hey Kairi. Enjoying the view?" Sora asked.
"Always with you, Sora," Kairi said.
"Glad to hear it, Kairi," Sora said, turning around and kissing his girlfriend. "I wonder how it'll be down in Sinnoh?"
"Well, there are loads of Pokémon living there and that's pretty obvious. Pokémon like Roserade, Tangrowth, and Mamoswine are said to come from Sinnoh. That's what I heard," Kairi said.
"And those are the ones we got," Sora said. "At least we got to share with Ven, Terra, and Aqua."
"Yes. Ventus is always excited when meeting new Pokémon," Kairi said.
"Like he was excited when he met Pikachu for the first time," Sora said, as the couple shared a laugh.
Over in Twinleaf Town, Lucas was getting his shoes on when he heard frantic knocks on the door.
"Lucas! Open up! It's me!" A familiar voice spoke.
"I'm coming, Barry!" Lucas said, answering the door. He sees his best friend at the door. "Okay, Barry, I'm ready."
"Good! Now come on, come on! We got to head for Lake Verity!" Barry said.
"Lake Verity? I thought we were heading for Sandgem Town," Lucas said.
"It's on the way! Now, come on! Let's go!" Barry said, pulling him.
"Hey! Barry! Don't be so forceful!" Lucas yelled. Dawn's mother steps out of her front door.
"You are awfully noisy today," Johanna said.
"Morning! Sorry if we're being noisy," Lucas said.
"Actually, I don't mind if you're noisy, because Dawn is sleeping in again. And she has to do it on the day when she's going to choose her first Pokémon!" Johanna said. Lucas looked up at Dawn's window. He blushes when he thinks of her. It was obvious to Johanna that he has a crush on her daughter.
"Would you boys like to come in for breakfast?" Johanna asked.
"No thanks, ma'am. I already ate," Lucas said.
"I didn't!" Barry pouted. Lucas facepalmed.
"Barry, again?" Lucas asked.
"I was in a hurry," Barry said.
"Well, it's no good for you to skip breakfast. It is the most important meal of the day," Johanna said.
"We'll just pick something up. Thanks for the kind offer and tell Dawn I said hi," Lucas said.
"I will. You boys take care on the way over," Johanna said.
"We will, bye," Lucas said.
"Now, I'm hungry," Barry pouted in hunger.
"We'll just pick up some of those breakfast sausage sandwiches on the way! Get you eating like a Munchlax," Lucas said.
"Yeah, yeah," Barry said. A few minutes later, Barry was stuffing his face with those breakfast sausage sandwiches with egg and cheese. Lucas didn't have any since he already ate. Barry drank some Pinap juice to wash it down. "Oh, that's good." He burps in satisfaction.
"Glad you're satisfied. If you can remember to tie your own shoes, I'm surprised you can skip breakfast just like that," Lucas said.
"Like I said, I was in a hurry. I didn't have time to eat," Barry said. "I guess that's what I get for running out especially when my mom is yelling after me." Lucas chuckled. "Anyway, what's the deal with you and Dawn?" Lucas blushed.
"I don't know what you mean," Lucas denied.
"How could you not know what I mean? I can see it from outer space. You got it bad for Dawn. You had a crush on her since pre-school," Barry said.
"No comment. Anyway, I wanna get to Lake Verity, if you don't mind," Lucas said.
"Okay, if that's what you want," Barry said. The two boys walked by as they passed by some wild Pokémon living in the area. There were a small group of Pokémon that resembles a beaver. has brown colored fur all over its pudgy body, and has a tan belly and a tan "mask" around its eyes. It has four small, stump-like legs with dark brown paws that appear webbed. It has a small, fluffy tail. It has two front teeth that protrude out, a small red nose, and two beady eyes.Some of them has five tufts of fur on their tails while others had three tufts of fur on their tails (Bidoof). Up in the trees are some bird Pokémon whose body is mainly brown-gray in color with white blotches on its face, chest and a single white feather on its tail while the others are black. It also has orange feet and an orange beak (Starly). Some has bigger face prints than the others. And there are some brown bunny Pokémon with yellow-cream fluffs on its ears. It also has pink undersides on its ears. It also possesses a pink, triangular-shaped nose and small, black eyes with cream-colored eyebrows. It has yellow-cream fluff around most of its midsection and feet, with a small, round tail. the rabbit Pokémon's body is small and thin, with short arms that end in three-fingered paws. Its yellow-cream colored feet have three toes, and large pink paw pads on the undersides (Buneary).
Over to Dawn's house, Dawn wakes up and gets dressed. A knock on her bedroom door is heard.
"Dawn, are you up?" Johanna asked.
"I am SO up!" Dawn said, getting her hair done. Johanna opens the door.
"Morning, dear," Johanna greeted.
"Good morning, mom!" Dawn greeted back.
"It was a bout time that you got up," Johanna said.
"Mom, I'm ten-years-old," Dawn said. She bends down to her mom's Glameow. "Morning, Glameow." Glameow jumped on Dawn's bed and takes a nap on it. Dawn and her mother heads on down stairs for breakfast.
"I hope you fniished packing," Johanna said.
"Did it all yesterday," Dawn said.
"And just in case you forgot. Did you pack the postcard from Professor Rowan? You won't be able to get your Pokémon without it, or your Pokédex," Johanna said.
"I know, mom," Dawn said, showing her the postcard. On the postcard are three Pokémon on the postcard. One onf them is Piplup. One of the other ones is a Pokémon and appears to be a green-ish Pokémon with a small twig on its head. On the twig are two green leaves. It has large yellow eyes and its face is oddly shaped. On the bottom of the face there is a yellow mouth in an obtuse shape. Also on its face it has two tiny nostrils. It has four small stubby feet, so it can't move as fast, and on the bottom of its feet are an obtuse area of yellow towards the bottom of the feet. It also has a shell on its back. The shell is brown with black line on the bottom and a few stripes. The other is a bipedal Pokémon that resembles a chimpanzee. Its fur is primarily a shade of orange, though its face, outer ears, underbelly, hands, and feet are light yellow. Its rear has a small, round, red patch that is usually obscured by flames produced by burning gas in its stomach. Its ears are large in comparison to its head size and red inside. It has two pointed teeth in its upper jaw. It has red markings nearly surrounding its eyes, a swirl-like symbol on its chest, and five fingers on its hands with three toes on its feet. It has a swirly crest of hair on its head."See? I'd never forget this!"
"Good! So, have you decided which of those three Pokémon you're going to pick?" Johanna asked.
"Not yet," Dawn answered. "They're all so cute! Thing is, I'm sure that any of them would make an awesome partner!" Dawn looked at the trophies and photos of Johanna's youth. "Gotta be smart though. I wanna be a Top Coordinator like you, mom! And like Kairi after seeing her in the Hoenn Grand Festival."
"Then, first off, you have to become a great Pokémon trainer," Johanna said. "And a breeder too. Please remember, dear, all winning Coordinators first started ot as Pokémon trainers."
"You're right, mom. That's just what I'll do!" Dwn said. Dawn thought of which Pokémon to get as her first and make her dazzling debut in an upcoming Pokémon Contest. Johanna opens the front door as she steps out to see how a beautiful day it was.
"What a day. Perfect for starting on a journey," Johanna said. She looked inside the house. "So Dawn, are you ready?" Dawn came in, rolling in a suitcase.
"Oh, yeah!" Dawn said.
"Oh? What's all that?" Johanna asked.
"It's just all my stuff. It's not I packed things I don't need," Dawn said. Johnna looked inside and saw it was all clothes, shoes, accessories.
"It's all clothes," Johanna said.
"Also some jewelry and some face stuff," Dawn said. Johanna looked at her daughter with a worried look.
"Do you know what your journey is for?" Johanna asked.
"To become a Pokémon trainer, right?" Dawn replied.
"Exactly," Johanna said, giving her daughter a yellow backpack. "Which means this is plenty."
"Aw, that's it?" Dawn asked.
"If you want to become a Top Coordinator and a smart traveler, then trust me," Johanna said.
"Okay, mom," Dawn said, taking the backpack instead of a suitcase.
"One more thing," Johanna said, handing Dawn a ribbon.
"Huh? Mom, what's this?" Dawn asked, taking the ribbon.
"That's the first championship ribbon I have ever won in a contest. I always carried it as a good-luck charm. Now, if you will, I'd like you to carry it too," Johanna said.
"Really?" Dawn asked. Johanna nodded.
"Long as you don't lose it," Johanna said.
"Wow, thanks, mom! See you soon!" Dawn said, heading for her bike. Once she got on, she started to head for her first stop, Sandgem Town to pick up her very first Pokémon. "Off we go!"
"Do your best and take of yourself, dear!" Johanna said. Dawn turned around and waved at her mom.
"No need to worry, mom!" Dawn said. Dawn wasn't looking where she was going and hits a pebble. She begins to wobble around. Dawn thought she was going to fall off, but she retook her balance. "See? I told ya Bye!" Dawn rode off. Johanna sighs.
"Every time she tells me not to worry is when I worry the most," Johanna said.
"Meow," Glameow purred.
Dawn rides off to Sandgem Town as a flock of Chatot fly by. Hoothoot are sleeping inside of hallow trees as a troop of Aipom are eating berries from the trees.
Over to Lucas and Barry, the two boys were searching for anything out of the ordinary.
"What are we looking for, exactly?" Lucas asked.
"For one of the Lake Guardians, Mespirit," Barry said.
"Not this again, Barry," Lucas said facepalmed.
"Why not again?" Barry asked.
"It's been on your mind ever since your dad says he found one of them. He couldn't tell if it was Uxie, Mespirit, or Azlef because he was in a mist," Lucas said.
"You calling my dad a liar?" Barry accused.
"Hold on, I'm not calling anyone a liar. I'm just saying, there should be actual proof before we jump to conclusions," Lucas said in defense.
"There's going to be proof. Because we're going to see it first!" Barry said.
Lucas sighed as he thought, "Wonder if Dawn is there already."
Dawn rode right in Sandgem Town and arrived to a building.
"And here we are!I'd know Professor Rowan's lab anywhere!" Dawn said. She got off her bie and headed for the building. She opens the door.
"'Kay, I'm here for my Pokémon!" Dawn announced.
"You cam to the right place, kid!" A man's voice spoke. Dawn saw it was a ramen resturant. The patrons were all looking at her. "Hey, you're going to eat too, aren't you?" Dawn felt awkward and embarrassed, so she fastly rode on her bike.
"Oh man! Me and my great directions!" Dawn said. Dawn went to one place. "Not there!" She rode to another. "Wrong way! She went one more way. "I want my mom!" Dawn rode off. She looks over the map on the postcard. "Let's see. Make a right and then make a left, or a left then right?" She looked around for the lab. "Maybe it's upside down." She bumps into a man with hair, beard, and mustache. He is wearing brown coat, tie and shoes. He has white hair and a white mustache. He has dark brown pants. Under his coat, he wears a blue suit with yellow bottons on it. He's carring a brownish orange suitcase. Dawn winced she bumped into someone. "I'm or sorry! I didn't see you there!"
"Hello," the man greeted. "You're looking lost."
"Huh? Are you talking to me, sir?" Dawn asked.
"Right. There's no one else here, and you're looking very lost," Professor Rowan stated. Dawn sure walked into that one.
"Yeah, but I'll be fine," Dawn assured him.
"Perhaps. But you don't look fine right now," the man said.
"Yeah, I guess so," Dawn said, hanging her head.
"You must be a new trainer since you got that postcard.Why don't you come with me to my lab and get your starter Pokémon?" The man offered.
"Guess I could," Dawn said, but she gasped in realization. "Wait did you say 'lab?'" Dawn asked.
"You may be lost, but you can hear. I'm Professor Rowan," the man introduced himself. Dawn didn't know what to say. He stopped and turned. "You do want to get your Pokémon now, don't you?"
"Yeah, of course I do!" Dawn said.
We head right to Professor Rowan's lab. Gary is working as a researcher as he takes a look at a Starly and two other starling Pokémon. One is a black and white Pokémon with a black "horn" on its head. It has one white feather just like Starly and the other two are black. It has a white splotch on its chest and face. It has an orange beak and three toed orange feet but the tip of its beak is black. The other looks like another version as the second bird, but its feathers are now puffed up into a crest, its eyes have turned into sharp ovals with red pupils, and its comb has now flipped over its head and has red coloration sat the back.
"You have a nice plumage, Staravia. Same to you Staraptor," Gary said.
The three starter Pokémon of Sinnoh were happily eating the Pokémon food the research staff has provided them. A couple of people from the research staff show up.
"Hey, Gary, that Pokémon food you brought on over is a huge hit with the Pokémon. Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup loves it," one the research team members said.
"My grandpa gave me the recipe from a friend of mine in Kanto. She does wonders for her boyfriend's Pokémon as well as her own," Gary said.
"And judging by how they're wolfing it down, it's no wonder," the first research team member said. "And how is the research on the Starly evolution line going?"
"It's going smoothly, Yuzo. Umbreon and Electivire have been giving me a hand," Gary said.
"That's good. You know, I have always been a huge fan of Starly. Starly is the very first Pokémon that I have ever caught on my journey," Yuzo said.
"Yeah? Mine was a Bidoof!" Another research team member said.
"No kidding! My sister's first Pokémon was a Bidoof!" Yuzo said. Chimchar had eaten its fill and looked over to Piplup's bowl and snatched it from the penguin-like Pokémon and ate it.
"Hey, what's the big idea? Why did you have to eat what I was going to eat?!" - Piplup subtitle. Chimchar taunted Piplup and its rear at it.
"Gotta be quick, I always say!" - Chimchar subtitle.
"You always do this! You always have to be a bully to me! Take this!" - Piplup subtitle. Gary, Yuzo, and the rest of the research team saw the ruckus going on as Piplup fires Bubble Beam at the fire monkey Pokémon. Chimchar avoids the bubbles as Turtwig happily kept eating.
"Piplup, Chimchar! Stop this instant!" Yuzo scolded. Piplup didn't listen and kept firing Bubble Beam at Chimchar. "Piplup, stop acting like a spoiled child!" Piplup kept shooting Bubble Beam and shot at Starly, Staravia, and Staraptor. The three starling Pokémon all start flying around.
"Sarly, Staravia, Staraptor! Settle down! Settle down!" Gary shouted. Staraptor begins to flap its large wings, making a huge wind. "No, not Whirlwind! Not in here!" Staraptor's Whirlwind makes a huge mess in the lab as the window shatters. Starly, Staravia, and Staraptor all fly out the window. "No1 Come back!" Piplup breaks out of Yuzo's hold as it chased after Chimchar.
"Just perfect! Professor Rown is going to be back and going to have himself a fit when he sees this mess, but the worst of it is, a new trainer is coming today and two of the starter Pokémon have literally gone out the window!" Yuzo said.
"We got to find them and get them back before something happens!" Gary said.
"Right," the rest of the research team agreed. They were heading out to look for Chimchar and Piplup when Professor Rowan and Dawn walked on in.
"Crap, he's back!" Yuzo exclaimed.
"Yes. This is my laboratory, isn't it?" Professor Rowan pointed out.
"Professor, of course it is!" Gary, Yuzo, and the rest of the staff answered all at once. Dawn looked at the mess.
"Oh dear," Dawn said.
"What happened in here?" Professor Rowan asked.
"Sir, I apologize for this. We had a slight problem. when the Chimchar and the Piplup we had for the new trainer ran into the forest," Yuzo reported.
Gary added, "On top of that, while I was conducting my evolution research, the three Starly stages all got out as well."
"Fortunately, we still have Turtwig," Yuzo said. Turtwig looked at Professor Rowan and got scared of his stern expression. Dawn still hasn't decided on which one to get as her first. She had to do something to make things right.
"Sir, I'd like to go look for them," Dawn volunteered. Professor Rowan turned to the beginning trainer.
"You would?" Professor Rowan asked.
"Yes. We're talking about Pokémon that could be my future partner!" Dawn stated. Professor Rowan looked at her for a moment. He decided to allow her to go along with it.
"Very well. Just remember, if you find them, you need to crouch down so you can talk to them at eye level. You should be able to calm them down," Professor Rowan said. Dawn smiled as she is filled with confidence.
"I'll do that!" Dawn said.
"Good girl! I wish you luck!" Professor Rowan said.
"Thank you!" Dawn said. She sets off to find the missing two Pokémon. "Wow, that Professor Rowan is a real nice guy, much nicer than I thought." Dawn sets off to find them.
A Bidoof and another beaver-like Pokémon moves out of her path. This Pokémon is fat in appearence. It has a cream colored patch on its chest and face stamps around its eyes. Its tail is dark brown with cream markings. It's paws are dark brown with cream pads. Its snout is short and dark brown with teeth and a red, triangular nose. She heads to the edge of the forest.
"Chimchar!" Chimchar said, hanging from a branch.
"It's Chimchar!" Dawn gasped. Piplup catches up with Chimchar. "And Piplup too!" Piplup fires Bubble Beam at the fire monkey Pokémon, but Chimchar avoids the attack by jumping to the next branch.Piplup was throwing a temper tantrum for missing its target. "Stop that, Piplup!" Piplup fired Bubble Beam at Dawn. She jumps out of the way of the penguin Pokémon's attack. "That's not nice!" Piplup kept chasing after Chimchar into the forest. Hey, you two! Wait up!" Dawn ran after them both.
Chimchar swinging through the trees until it has lost the penguin Pokémon. Chimchar jumps through the trees just as a a small, larval Pokémon with a black segmented body and a coiled antenna on top of its head. It has a beak-like mouth and yellow eyes. It has six stubby legs: the first two pairs are black, while the back pair is yellow. There are two white spots on its cheeks. The Pokémon was putting on some leaves, making a cloak made entirely out of leaves. Chimchar swings on by and knocks the Pokémon off and it loses its leafy cloak. It quickly puts the leaves back on and fires a angrily hops up and down as Chimchar heads for Lake Verity.
Lucas and Barry sit by the lake as Lucas was bored out of his mind.
"I'm telling you, Barry, there's nothing here," Lucas said.
"It's gotta be here, I know it," Barry stated. "I just know at any moment, something amazing is going to fall right into my hands!" And he was right because a Chimchar has jumped right into Barry, knocking him down. Lucas looked right at hm.
"You said your hands, right?" Lucas asked.
"Hey, a Chimchar. Where did you come from?" Barry asked. Chimchar looked at the blonde and he smiles at the fire monkey Pokémon. Chimchar smiles back
"Looks like that Chimchar likes you, Barry," Lucas said.
"You think so?" Barry asked.
"I know it," Lucas said.
"Hey, Chimchar, would you like to hang with us for a while?" Barry asked.
"Chimchar, Chim," Chimchar said.
"Okay!" Barry said.
Lucas would have gone on ahead, but someone had to make sure he didn't get too carried away. Barry has been known to do that. Watching Sora during the final battle of the Hoenn Pokémon League was no exception.
Over to Dawn, she searches the forest for Chimchar and Piplup.
"Where could those two be?" Dawn asked.
"PIPLUP!" Piplup shrieked. Dawn turned to where she figured the sound came from.
"Is that Piplup?" Dawn asked. Dawn ran to the source where she found Piplup tangled up in a web, along with a Pidgey, a Rattata, a Weedle, a Zigzagoon, a Ninjask, and a Dunsparce. "It was you!" Piplup didn't like being tangled up one bit. She takes a step cloer only to be met with a Sludge Bomb on the ground. She gasped that she realized whose web it was; it was occupied by an Ariados. "Ariados! Leave them alone!" Ariadoes fires another Sludge Bomb. Dawn shrieked when she avoided the attack again "That's it!' She stared at the spider-like Pokémon with determination. "Okay, Ariados, that's it!" She starts to run. "Right this way!" She ran to get Ariados's attention. "Hurry!" Ariadoes kept chasing after her. "Come on! Hurry it up!" She stopped right in front of the web. Piplup was getting worried about Dawn. "Don't worry, Piplup. Won't be long now." Piplup didn't know what she had planned, but he hoped it'll work. Ariados fired Sludge Bomb, sending Piplup and the other captive Pokémon free. Dawn catches Piplup in her arms as she ran. "I got ya!" Piplup was angry by that stunt. "I'm sorry you got scared, but at least you're safe!" She fell over a slope while holding Piplup and lands right into a bush. "Me and my big fat mouth!" She gets back up on her feet. "This time, you're safe. Piplup gave Dawn a few pecks on the cheek. "Ow, ow, ow!" The penguin jumps out of Dawn's arms.
"Piplup, Piplup, Pip, Pip, Piplup, Pip!" Piplup yelled.
"Hey, you were the one chasing after Chimchar, so if I were you, I would feel pretty embarrassed!" Dawn said. Piplup starts throwing another temper tantrum. "Hey, I know the truth hurs, but come on!" Piplup kept throwing a tantrum. Piplup stops once its stomach starts growling. Dawn gave a teasing grin when she figured out what the fuss was about. "I get why you're such a grump. You're really hungry, aren't you?"
"Piplup!: Piplup denied.
"Yup, I knew it! I can read you like a book!" Dawn said. Piplup blushed in embarrassment.
"Pip," Piplup said. Dawn pours the store bought Pokémon food. She held it for Piplup.
"Here you go, Pipup. Some yummy Pokémon food. Piplup sniffed the food, but downright refused when it saw it was the kind Piplup was used to. "Say what? Whaddaya mean no? I think you got an attitude problem! Piplup stuck its tongue out at the food. "Oh, come on!" She heard some rustling up in the trees as the same Ariados from before comes on down and glares at Dawn. She and Piplup screamed when the spider-like Pokémon scared her out of her wits. Ariados fires Poison Sting at the both of them. Dawn and Piplup tumbles backwards and they freaked out when they saw several more Ariados in the web. They were all angered. Piplup, let's go!"
"Piplup!" Piplup agreed. They both ran for it, but the Ariadoes fires their thread, trapping them both.
"They're pretty mad because we destroyed their nest! The Ariados fired Poison Sting as Dawn tries to avoid them. Dawn drops the can of Pokémon food. She looks at the can and gets an idea. "I know! Piplup, we'll use the Pokémon food as bait to distract them!" Then we'll use your Bubble Beam ro smash the web!"
"Piplup!" Piplup agreed. Dawn grabs the can and throws the food.
"'Kay, come and get it!" Dawn said. The Ariados sees the food and uses their threads to catch the food and eats it. "Do it!" Piplup fires Bubble Beam right at the threads, cutting through the web. "We are out!" One of the Ariados sends out a thread and it wraps around Dawn's ankle. The Ariados starts to make their way towards her.
"Piplup, Pip, Pip, Piplup, Pip!" Piplup said, trying to gesture Dawn to move.
"Piplup, get out of here! I'll be fine!" Dawn said.
"Piplup!" Piplup pleaded.
"Hurry!" Dawn also pleaded. The Ariados eventually reaches her and attacks with Poison Sting and Sludge Bomb. Dawn covered her eyes, awaiting the inevitable, but Piplup jumps in front of Dawn took a stance, taking the hits. Dawn opened her eyes to see Piplup take the hits. The Ariados kept firing Sludge Bomb at the pengiun Pokémon. Piplup starts giving off a white glow. "Is that an attack?" Dawn blinks twice. "Wait a minute, that's gotta be Bide!" Piplup sends out a powerful white energy right at the the spider Pokémon and destroying the rest of their web. They all go for a fly before they all come down for a crash landing. Piplup panted as it used up some energy. "Bide gave back twice the damage they gave us. Bide's one of the coolest moves I've ever seen!" She looked at Piplup and she smiles. She bends down on her knees. Piplup, thanks so much." Piplup falls backwards as Dawn catches it in her hands. She picks the tired penguin Pokémon up and stands on he feet. "Oh, Piplup." Dawn sets off to find Chimchar while carrying Piplup. She makes her way to Lake Verity when she spots Chimchar with Lucas and Barry. "Chimchar! There you are!" he boys turned to see her.
"Dawn!" Lucas said.
"Hey Lucas. Barry! Did you find that Chimchar?" Dawn asked.
"No Chimchar found us," Lucas said. He looked right at Piplup in her arms. "Did you choose that Piplup as your own?"
"No, this Piplup is one of the Pokémon that ran off. And that Chimchar also ran off," Dawn said.
"Is that right?" Lucas asked.
"What are you doing here?" Dawn asked.
"Barry dragged me here, because of the Pokémon that is rumored to live here," Lucas said. Dawn blinked twice.
"What Pokémon?' Dawn asked.
"Barry said something about a Pokémon his dad saw once, and he dragged me along just to see it," Lucas said.
"You want to see just as bad as me, Lucas!" Barry said.
"If you don't mind, we have to get these two back to Professor Rowan's lab as soon as possible!" Daawn said.
"Dawn's right. We gotta head on to the lab, like we were supposed to. So, don't forget the postcard you got from Professor Rowan," Lucas said.
"I have it right here," Barry said, taking it out. Suddenly a strange wind starts blowing, catching the three kids and the two Pokémon off guard. They saw it was coming from the lake. An invisible figure stood on the water. They couldn't make out what it was. They couldn't see it, but they could hear it. The invisible figure fades into the woods.
"What was that?" Barry asked.
"I think it was a Pokémon. It was either Mespirit, Uxie, or Azelf. Your dad might have seen one of them after all," Lucas said.
The three young trainers-to-be along with Chimchar and Piplup, they explained to Professor Rowan about Lake Verity.
"Hm, there have been stories about a mysterious Pokémon living at Lake Verity for a long time now. It's very likely that the one you three saw is Mespirit," Professor Rowan concluded.
"Mespirit. Whoa," Barry said.
"Awesome," Dawn said in awe.
"You three had quite a day, especially you, Dawn. Perhaps not as expected, but your journey has begun. So now it's time to give each of you your Pokéballs and your Pokédex as well," Professor Rowan said.
"Sweet!" Barry said, getting giddy.
"Here you go," Gary said, handing Lucas his Pokéballs and Pokédex. Dawn and Lucas takes them as well.
"These Pokéballs are to be used to catch and contain any Pokémon you come across in the wild. And for carrying your Pokémon around in. And your Pokédex will provide you with the information about the various Pokémon you meet," Professor Rowan said. He sets his attention to the three begining Pokémon mon of Sinnoh. "Now, it's time to choose your Pokémon. Your choices are Turtwig, a Grass Type, the Water Type, Piplup, and the Fire Type, Chimchar." He turned to the three beginners. "So, do you know which each you like as your first?"
"I already decided, professor," Dawn said. "I choose Piplup." The penguin Pokémon beamed as Chimchar pouted.
"I think I made up my mind as well. The one I want is Chimchar," Barry said. Chimchar was happy to hear it has been chosen.
"I'm fine with Turtwig. Turtwig is the one I wanted anyway," Lucas said as Turtwig smiled.
"Here are their Pokéballs," Professor hands the Pokéballs for each one of them. Barry calls Chimchar inside as Lucas calls in Turtwig, and Dawn calls Piplup inside.
"Thank you, professor," Dawn said.
"You are welcome," Professor Rowan said.
"Um, professor, you don't mind if I duck out, do you? I'm supposed to meet someone as the docks today. A couple of friends are coming by," Gary said.
"Oh, of course, Gary. It would be awfully rude to keep him waiting," Professor Rowan said.
"A friend?" Dawn asked.
"Yeah. He's someone who I knew as a kid. Haven't seen him since after the Johto Pokémon League," Gary said.
"You mean he's a trainer?" Lucas asked.
"Yeah. He won that one, just like he won the Kanto Pokémon League before that and the Hoenn Pokémon League after," Gary said. Lucas and Barry got wide-eyed when they realized who he was talking about.
"Are you talking about Sora Ketchum, the Pokémon League Champion of Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn?! You know him?!" Barry exclaimed with delight. Dawn had no idea who he was talking about.
"Who?" Dawn asked. Barry was shocked to hear it.
"You mean, you don't know who Sora Ketchum is?!" Barry asked in shock.
"Not really," Dawn said.
"Dawn is more into Pokémon Contests," Lucas said. Gary chuckled nervously.
"I should be on my way to greet him," Gary said, before Barry grabbed him.
"Please take us with you! We really want to meet him! Please, please, please!" Barry begged. He gave him the puppy dog look.
"I don't know," Gary said.
"Just say yes, because it's the only way to shut him up," Lucas said.
"I'm more worried about afterwards," Dawn said. Gary laughed.
"Okay, I'll take you along, but you gotta be on your best behavior, okay?" Gary asked.
"I promise to behave!" Barry said. Lucas leaned over to Dawn.
"I think I'm going to need help keeping Barry contained," Lucas said.
"I had a feeling you were going to tag me along, anyway," Dawn said.
"Okay, let's go," Gary said.
Gary, Lucas, Barry, and Dawn all followed Gary to the docks to meet and greet Sora. Barry was excited in finally meeting the trainer he most admired. Lucas wanted to meet him for a long time as well. Along the way, Gary explains how he and Sora know each other. Dawn was stunned to hear he is Professor Oak's grandson since she only knew him through Pokémon poetry.
Over to Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Pikachu, Angel, and Meowth, the ship they're on gets even closer to the docks.
"There she is, Ven. The Sinnoh region," Sora said.
"Wow!" Ventus said.
"This is where get started on a new journey," Sora said.
"Pi, Pikachu!" Pikachu said.
"You think Gary will be there?" Terra asked.
"Professor Oak said he told Gary were coming over, so he should already making his way to us," Sora said.
"It's been a long time we've seen Gary. He would be happy to see us," Kairi said.
"Yeah, he would," Sora said.
The ship makes a stop in the pier as Gary, Lucas, Barry, and Dawn all arrived just in time to meet them.
The passengers all exited the ship as Gary waits for Sora to come. His wait was over when he saw his former rival and is former crush depart from the ship.
"Over here!" Gary shouted. Sora turned to see Gary waving to him. Dawn was at awe seeing Kairi for the first time.
"It's her! It's really her! It's Kairi! She's even more beautiful in real life than on TV," Dawn said in her thoughts.
"Gary Oak! You haven't changed a bit!" Sora greeted.
"Right back at you, Sora! Still have that spiy hair!" Gary said. He turned to Kairi as well. "And you too, Kairi!"
"Hello, Gary," Kairi greeted. He saw Ventus and his two friends as well.
"Ven, Terra, Aqua, hey. Had a feeling I was going to see you three," Gary said, rubbing Ven's head.
"So, how are things in Sinnoh?" Sora asked.
"You had to ask?" Gary asked.
Lucas and Barry went up to Sora. He turned to see them.
"Hey, aren't you Sora Ketchum?" Lucas asked.
"Yeah I am. And you would be?" Sora asked.
"My is Lucas from Twinleaf Town and this is my best friend Barry," Lucas said. Barry squeaked when he was about to speak.
"Is he okay?" Sora asked.
"He's fine. He's just thrilled to meet you," Lucas said. Sora chuckled. Dawn went up to Kairi.
"Excuse me, but you wouldn't happen to be Kairi, would you?" Dawn asked.
"Yes. And what's your name?" Kairi asked.
"My name's Dawn. And I just wanna say is I'm your biggest fan!" Dawn said, getting all giddy. "Oh my gosh, I'm going to sound like a screaming fan!" Kairi giggled.
"Don't scream. I'm just flattered. Just wasn't expecting to meet a fan as soon as we arrive," Kairi said. Lucas looked at the other three.
"And who are these three?" Lucas asked.
"This is Ventus. He's my cousin," Sora said.
"But call me Ven," Ventus said.
"My name's Terra."
"And I'm Aqua."
Barry looked at Terra and he was intimidated by him just because of his size. Barry was worried that he crush him just by sitting on him. Barry slowly backs away. He then looked at Aqua and thought she was very pretty.
"How was the boat ride?" Gary asked.
"It was a nice cruise," Sora said. Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Pikachu, Angel, and Meowth all departed from the dock. And so, they arrived in the Sinnoh region. Once again, Sora and Kairi walks on a new road of adventure.
