Episode 319: A Sinnoh Start!
After arriving in the Sinnoh region, Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, and Aqua got to know their new friends, Lucas, Barry, and Dawn. Sora and Kairi shared some stories about their adventures in Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn. Lucas, Barry, and Dawn were amazed by the many Pokémon they came across. Lucas, Barry, and Dawn were shocked to hear that Sora and Kairi were a couple and how they heard Meowth talking. Barry especially was freaked out by Meowth being able to talk.
"You got a talking Meowth!" Barry exclaimed.
"It gets less freaky when you used to it," Sora said.
"I heard from grandpa that there members of Team Rocket had a talking Meowth whatever happened to them?" Gary asked.
"Team Rocket? Who are they?" Dawn asked.
"They used to a huge criminal organization that would use Pokémon to commit all kinds of crime. Also, they took Pokémon from other trainers," Terra said.
"Their deeds were very unforgivable," Aqua said.
"That kept up until Kairi, our friends, and I put them out of business and sent them all to jail. Along with the help of Jessie and James, the Team Rocket members we thought that they died when we dealt with Team Magma and Team Aqua," Sora said.
"Whoa," Barry said.
"At least no one has to ever worry about their Pokémon getting taken away again," Dawn said.
"That's true, Dawn. Sora and I came down here to pay you a visit after so long," Kairi said. "And Sora thought it was a good idea to some new places."
"Sounds like you, Sora. I take it you'll be taking the Gym challenge to compete in the Sinnoh Pokémon League while you're here," Gary said.
"That's the idea. Also, since there are Pokémon contests here in Sinnoh, Kairi should have a shot with that," Sora said.
"So, we're here to support the both of them," Ventus said.
"Well, since you're going to be doing Gym battles and contests, then all of you should get started right away. And the first step will be in Jubilfe City were a Pokémon Contest is going to be held. And as for Sora's Gym battle, that'll take place in Oreburgh City. That city has a Gym Leader who specializes with Rock Type Pokémon," Gary said.
"That's great to know, Gary. And thanks," Sora said.
"Sure thing. Oh, before I forget. How is your egg doing?" Gary asked.
"It hasn't hatched yet, but it responded to me. But I think it's getting closer to hatching," Sora said.
"Really?" Gary asked.
"What egg?" Barry asked. Sora took the egg out of his backpack and shows them the egg. "Oh."
"What do you think is in there?" Dawn asked.
"We don't know. That just makes the waiting even more fun," Sora said. The egg responds to Sora's words.
"Pika!" Pikachu exclaimed.
"Hey! The egg is at it again!" Meowth said.
"Sora, the egg reacted to what you said," Terra said.
"I think you're right, Terra," Sora said.
"I never seen anything like this before. None of the trainers who had it had this kind of reaction," Gary said.
"This is weird," Sora said.
"Anyway, Sora, I was wondering if you like to have a look at the Pokémon I got from Professor Rowan! Please!" Barry pleaded.
"Yeah, I want to see what you got too!" Ventus said.
"I am curious about what you have," Aqua said.
"Okay, here they are," Lucas said, letting out his partner Pokémon. Turtwig looked at Pikachu, Angel, and Meowth and smiled.
"Wait till you see mine!" Barry said, leting out his Chimchar. Chimchar did a little pose upon entry.
"Piplup! Spotlight!" Dawn said. She lets out her Piplup. Piplup does a pose, similar to Chimchar.
"So, these are the three starter Pokémon of the Sinnoh region," Terra said.
"Oh, they're so cute, all of them!" Kairi cooed. Sora wanted to try out his new Pokédex.
"Let's see what the new Pokédex has to say about you," Sora said, scanning Turtwig. It spoke in a different femine voice the Pokédex he had since Hoenn.
Turtwig, the Tiny Leaf Pokémon
Type: Grass
The shell on Turtwig's back is made of soil. The moisture on Turtwig's shell is a sign of how healthy it is. It is the result of photosynthesis playing its role.
Sora points it right to Barry's Pokémon.
Chimchar, the Chimp Pokémon
Type: Fire
Chimchar are very agile Pokémon, they can scale on sheer cliffs atop on craggy mountains as they were trees in the forest. Chimchar always puts the flame on its tail out before falling asleep.
Sora moves his Pokédex to get info about Dawn's partner Pokémon.
Piplup, the Penguin Pokémon
Type: Water
Piplup are very proud Pokémon, they don't like accepting food from others, nor does it like to be taken care of by others. Piplup are skillful swimmers, they can dive underwater for over ten minutes to hunt.
"You three got yourselves pretty neat Pokémon. They have loads of potential," Sora said. The starter Pokémon of Sinnoh all beamed, none more than Piplup.
"Wow, did you hear that, Lucas? He just complimented our Pokémon. They have potential," Barry said.
"I know, Barry, I know," Lucas said.
Once that was out of the way, they all went their own ways. Gary went back to the lab since he didn't want to stay too long. Lucas and Barry went off to find some Pokémon to catch since Dawn wanted to know Kairi a little more.
"So, Kairi, I would like to know is how it feels to be in such a loving relationship," Dawn said. Kairi just smiled.
"It's a wonderful thing to be with someone to love. Sora and I just love to go around and travel to different places. Our trip to the Galar region is something I'll cherish," Kairi said. Dawn was at awe hearing her say that.
"So, you think we can some wild Pokémon out here?" Dawn asked.
"Sure. You just have to keep your eyes open for one," Kairi said. A Starly comes swooping down at them. "And when you find a wild one that catches your eye, be sure to weaken it in battle before you catch it."
"Duck!" Terra yelled. Everyone ducked their heads.
"What was that about?" Dawn asked.
"You see what happened?" Sora asked. Ventus saw the Starly flying above them.
"That's a Starly!' Dawn said.
"Starly, huh?" Sora asked, taking out his Pokédex.
Starly, the Starling Pokémon
Type: Normal/Flying
Starly fly together into one huge flock. A single Starly is barely noticeable when it flies alone. Even though Starly are small, they flap their wings with great power.
Starly comes on down to dart them with its body.
"Starly is coming at us with Tackle!" Ventus said.
"Pikachu! Quick Attack!" Sora ordered.
"Pikachu!" Pikachu nodded and dashed right into the starling Pokémon. Pikachu dashed right into Starly. "Now, use Iron Tail!" Pikachu swings at Starly with his tail and smacks Starly hard. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it at Starly. The Pokédex wobbles around and around and then stars swirls aroound the Pokéball to confirm the catch.
"And that's how you do it," Kairi said.
"Wow, who would have thought it would be easy?" Dawn asked.
"It's not as easy as it seems. I know from experience, Dawn," Sora said.
"Really? You make it look so easy, Sora," Dawn said. Sora remembered the first time he tried to catch a Pidgey, and he felt stupid about, but he's gotten better about it since then.
Unknown to anyone, watching closely is a boy around Sora's age with an Elekid. He has purple hair that has one big strand hanging over the middle of his face, small dark eyes. He wore purple jacket with navy blue sleeves, a blue undershirt, dark purple pants and purple and navy sneakers with white soles.
"Hm. Well, if it was that easy who needs that thing?" The boy asked in an arrogant tone.
Later, Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, and Dawn made a stop for a break. Mainly to check on the egg. Sora was certain the egg was going to hatch at any moment. Sora managed to channel his Aura as he hears the Pokémon's heartbeat growing stronger. Ventus interrupts him
"Sora! Something is happening!" Ventus said, pointing to a large spike of electricity. Several Starly flies off scared.
"What in the heck?" Sora asked. Starly flies on ahead. "Starly! Come back!" They all rush to see the electricity. It belonged to the Elekid and the boy from earlier. He spots a Starly and throws it. The Pokéball fails to capture the Starly and flew off. He was displeased by how it turned out. "Over here!" The boy turned to see Sora in front of him.
"I'll thank you and your Starly to stay out of my way!" the boy said.
"Until we saw your little lightning show, we had no idea anyone else was out here," Sora said. Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, and Dawn all show up.
"I'm going to guess that's his Elekid," Terra said.
"You guessed right," the boy said. "You really think that Starly is good enough?" Sora didn't like his tone. "I watched you catch it. Don't you think you'd be a lot better off catching the best one you can?"
"And how can you tell if it's the strongest Starly?" Sora asked.
"Of course. Look," he said, taking out three Pokéballs and tossed them into the air, letting out three Starly.
"You three Starly?" Aqua asked.
"You must know you can scan the Pokémon you catchwith your Pokédex to check out what moves they can use.And that's what I do," the boy said, scanning the three Starly. "I figure you do that from the beginning, it saves you a whole trouble bunch of gief in the long run." He finished Aerial Ace. "Okay, let's check out: Aerial Ace. And the big winner is." He calls the three Starly back. He puts away one and holds out two. "Take a hike. I don't need you!" He threw his Pokéballs and they came out in blue energy instead of the traditional white. The two Starly flew off.
"Why did you just do that?" Sora asked.
"Because they were weak. The only attacks those two Starly knew were Tackle and Sand Attack, so they wouldn't be much use anyway," the boy said. Sora really didn't like his attitude.
"So, you expect great power right from the get-go? Any trainer would know that's not how it works. It takes hard work and training to raise Pokémon. Not the lazy way like you're displaying," Sora said.
"Lazy?" The boy asked.
"Yeah, lazy," Sora said.
"I'll show you lazy. I'll have a battle with you and find out," the boy said.
"Be careful what you asked for," Sora said.
"Let's make it three-on-three," the boy said.
"Sure thing. Three against three is fine with me. My first battle since coming here in the Sinnoh region," Sora said.
"Wait, is this a Pokémon battle going on?" Dawn asked.
"Yes it is," Kairi said. "Trainers battle against seach other to build up the trainer's strength as well as the Pokémon's."
"Take him out, Sora!" Ventus said. Sora turned to his cousin and nodded.
"Okay let's this started! Your name is?" Sora asked.
"The name's Paul. And like I said, this'll be a three-on-three battle with no substitutions, and the one with two wins first is the winner. Got it?" Paul asked.
"Yeah, I got it," Sora said. He looked over to Starly. "You're up first, Starly." Starly flies right in to battle. Paul takes a Pokéball and threw it.
"Starly! Stand by for battle!" Paul called out as his own Starly comes on out. "Ill let you go first!"
"Starly! Quick Attack!" Sora ordered. Sora's Starly flies right towards Paul's Starly and lands a hit.
"It's a hit!" Dawn said.
"Right, but it didn't look like it did much damage," Terra said. Dawn looked right at Terra. "I think Paul is testing Sora's attack power."
"Starly! Aerial Ace!" Paul ordered. Paul's Starly darts right into Sora's Starly with great strength.
"Okay, Starly, use Wing Attack!" Sora called out. Sora's Starly flies right Paul's Starly with its wings out.
"Quick! Double Team!" Paul ordered. Paul's Starly makes several duplicates of itself. Sora's Starly was shocked. The real opposing Starly was flying behind Sora's Starly.
"Watch out! The real one is coming right behind you! Dodge!" Sora called out.
"Aerial Ace!" Paul ordered. Paul's Starly attacked with Aerial Ace since it can't be dodged. Sora's Starly fell to the ground, beaten. Sora calls back his Starly. "You did your best. Rest up."
"I think I figured out your battling styles. You cover up your weak attacks by pushing. And when you combine that with a lame-o strategy like yours, I can't help but feel sorry for any Pokémon who gets stuck with a lousy trainer like you," Paul said, calling his Starly back. Ventus didn't like how Paul just insulted his cousin. "That's all you got?" Sora took out his next Pokéball and threw it.
"Go for it, Scorbunny!" Sora said, throwing his Pokéball and Scorbunny comes on out. Paul takes out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Chimchar! Stand by for battle!" Paul called out. Chimchar comes on out to battle Scorbunny.
"Okay, Scorbunny! We did a lot of training, so you ready to stretch your legs?" Sora asked.
"Scorbun!" Scorbunny said, getting pumped.
"Great, Scorbunny! Flame Charge!" Sora ordered. Scorbunny charges right at Chimchar with flames surrounding him.
"Ember!" Paul ordered. Chimchar fired Ember, but it bounces off of Scorbunny and lands a hit.
"Great! Now use Double Kick!" Sora ordered. Scorbunny gave Chimchar two kicks in a row.
"Flame Wheel!" Paul ordered. Chimchar rolls into a ball of fire and makes contact with the rabbit Pokémon. "Now use Scratch!" Chimchar scratches Scorbunny.
"Flame Charge!" Sora ordered. Scorbunny charges right at Chimchar and they collide. Scorbunny pushes Chimchar back completely.
"Ember!" Paul ordered. Chimchar fires Ember at the rabbit Pokémon.
"Dodge!" Sora called out. Scorbunny avoids the attack much to Paul's annoyance.
"What?! Scorbunny dodged just like that?" Paul asked.
"Hey, Scorbunny is moving a lot faster than usual," Dawn said.
"That's because of Flame Charge," Terra said. Dawn looked at him confused.
"Huh? Flame Charge?" Dawn asked.
"Flame Charge increases a Pokémon's speed each time it's used. That's how Scorbunny is able to dodge with ease," Terra said.
"Now, use Blaze Kick!" Sora ordered. Scorbunny's leg emits fire and lands a powerful kick into Chimchar. Chimchar fell to the ground, beaten. Paul was disappointed as he calls back his Chimchar.
"You're still as useless as can be!" Paul scolded.
"Way to go, Scorbunny!" Sora said as he and Scorbunny high-fived. "I knew all that training will pay off!" Scorbunny felt proud of winning his very first battle. Sora looked over to Pikachu. "You're up now, buddy."
"Pikachu," Pikachu said as he entered to battle. Paul took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Elekid! Stand by for battle!" Paul called out.
"You'll have the first move this time, Paul," Sora said.
"Thunder! Go!" Paul ordered. Elekid swings its arms around and fires Thunder at the mouse Pokémon.
"Dodge with Quick Attack!" Sora ordered. Pikachu dodges Elekid's attack by running and Thunder misses. "Good dodge!"
"Elekid! Brick Break!" Paul ordered. Elekid heads for Pikachu to swing its arm at the mouse Pokémon.
"Pikachu! Block with Iron Tail!" Sora ordered. Pikachu blocked with Iron Tail. Elekid pressed on as did Pikachu. Pikachu manages to over power Elekid's Brick Break.
"Quick Attack!" Sora ordered. Pikachu dashed right into Elekid.
"Dodge and use Thunder!" Paul ordered. Elekid fires Thunder. Pikachu dodges, but Elekid kept on firing and firing until Elekid lands a successful hit. Pikachu felt how powerful it was.
"You okay, Pikachu?" Sora asked.
"Pika," Pikachu said.
"Good. You took worse hits than that," Sora said.
"You do anything but coddle your Pokémon?" Paul questioned as an insult.
"You do anything other than insult people?" Sora asked.
"Pikachu! Thunderbolt!" Sora ordered. Pikachu fires Thunderbolt right at Elekid.
"Protect!" Paul ordered. Elekid forms a protective barrier. Thunderbolt bounces off. "Now, use Brick Break!" Elekid comes at Pikachu with its arm swinging down.
"Quick Attack!" Sora ordered. Pikachu avoided Elekid's attack by using running. Pikachu lands a fast lightning hit onto Elekid, earning a knockout.
"WHAT?! I LOST TO SOME CHUMP TRAINER?!" Paul exclaimed in anger.
"You lost to me because you were quick to underestimate me. You rely on power alone and that's why you lost," Sora said. Paul was angered by not only at his victory, but for how he just lectured him. Paul then took his Starly's Pokéball and threw it, releasing his Starly and it flies off in the forest.
"Reason for that, Paul?" Sora asked.
"Because there loads of Starly strong as that one. Soon as I run across a stronger one, I'll just grab it!" Paul said. Sora just sighed, seeing he didn't get it. He takes off. Sora didn't like how he treats the Pokémon he caught.
"Man, what a jerk," Sora said.
"You said it," Ventus said.
"Man, if Hapu were here, she would definitely hate him the first time she meets him," Sora said.
"She's not here and we should let it go, Sora. He's not worth it," Kairi said.
"You're right. I doubt he'll wise up by the time we meet again," Sora said.
Elsewhere, a band of individuals wearing black and silver jumpsuits. They all had the identical cyan hair. They all had a "G" insignia. Among the members, is a young man with blue hair styled like a sideways crescent moon and bangs. He has angular blue eyes, and wore a similar attire.
"Grunts, report," the young man said.
"Commander Saturn, we still haven't located the legendary Pokémon of Sinnoh known as Cresslia, Giratina, or Heatran," one of the grunts reported.
"Keep searching," Saturn told them. "And report to me if you do."
"Sir!" The grunts said. He receives a transmission and he leaves the room. He enters another room to find two women sitting down. They're both wearing the same kind of outfits. One has reddish-orange hair with a spike, like on top of Toxicroak's head, matching her eyes. Her outfit looks like it was designed from a dress. The other one has magenta hair styled in stubby buns, on her top and on the back. Her left leg is bare except for the black straps around it.
"Mars, Jupiter," Saturn said.
"Saturn. Any luck on the search?" The woman with the reddish-orange hair asked.
"No. Still no luck, Mars," Saturn said.
"Grunts. They're good for nothing," Jupiter said.
"Any orders from the boss?" Saturn asked.
"He simply said to acquire the Adamant Orb from the Eterna Museum and the Lustrous Orb from the Celestic Town Museum. But it's got some pretty tight security," Jupiter said.
"We will have to plan our attack carefully," Saturn said.
"So, what about the Lake Guardians? What detail do we have on them?" Mars asked.
"Charon is already looking into that. I instructed him to report to me if he has found anything," Saturn said.
"Just how are we going to find these Pokémon? Aren't legendary Pokémon something you hear out from a fairytale?" Jupiter said.
"The boss doesn't believe that it is a fairytale. He believes it is true," Saturn said. "It is those beliefs that'll lead Team Galactic into glory, remaking the entire universe in our own image." Mars and Jupiter grinned, seeing how Saturn is upbeat about remaking the universe however they want. On the wall of the current room, a mural of three Pokémon is displayed. Giratina is on one of these murals.
One is a dark-blue sauropod-like Pokémon with some gray metallic portions, such as its chest plate, which has a diamond in the center. It also has various light blue stripes. It has a fin-like structure on its back and a crest on its head, resembling a dinosaur. This Pokémon also has two horns on top of its head, two fang-like horns around its mouth, and three spines on the back of its neck. It has three claws on each foot of the same metallic looks as its chest plate. Faint cracks exist across its body. This Pokémon is Dialga.
The other one is a light purple theropod-like Pokémon with stripes and markings of a darker shade and gray underarms and waist. It has round purple-striped plates on its shoulder area, where two pink pearls lie encrusted with a gray rim encircling them and fins in their back. Its arms have extended formations resembling gauntlets and a purple band around each wrist. It has a long neck, a pointed white crest on the top of its head that extends to its wings, two strong horn-like tusks on the sides of its jaw, and a powerful tail. It has faint cracks along its legs and tail. This Pokémon is Palkia.
Back to Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, and Dawn, we see them making a small step as Kairi has spotted something. It was a wild Bidoof. This Bidoof has three tufts of fur on its tail. Sora, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Dawn, and the Pokémon all sees it.
"What kind of Pokémon is that?" Ventus asked.
"It's a Bidoof," Dawn said. "They're very common to find here in the Sinnoh region. Sora got curious and scanned it.
Bidoof, the Plump Mouse Pokémon
Type: Normal
With nerves of steel, nothing can perturb it. It is more agile and active than it appears. It constantly gnaws on logs and rocks to whittle down its front teeth. It nests alongside water.
"A Bidoof, huh? Looks like a good Pokémon to catch while we're here," Sora said. He looked over to his girlfriend. "You wanna take this one?"
"Yes I do," Kairi said, looking at Angel. "Okay, Angel, you're up."
"Eevee!" Angel said. She got ready to battle the wild Bidoof. "Angel! Headbutt!" Angel ran to deliver a Headbutt to her opponent. Bidoof dodges and comes at Angel with Tackle. Bidoof lands a direct hit. "Angel!" The female Eevee gets back up and comes Bidoof and. "Use Quick Attack!" Angel dashed right into Bidoof. "Now, use Swift!" Angel fires Swift and it struck Bidoof. Kairi took out a Pokéball and threw it at Bidoof. The plump mouse Pokémon flows inside and wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. "My first catch in Sinnoh!"
"Eevee!" Angel cheered.
"And what a good catch it was, Kairi!" Sora praised his girlfriend. Kairi beamed.
"Thank you, Sora," Kairi said, giving her boyfriend a kiss on the lips. Dawn blushed as she swoons over the sight of them kissing.
"Oh, she is lucky to have such a loving boyfriend. The sight is so romantic, I feel like fainting!" Dawn said in her thoughts. They parted lips as Pikachu and Angel nuzzled one another. "Now that's cute."
"So, which way from here?" Sora asked. Terra took out a map of the entire Sinnoh region. "We're already on the right track. Jubilfe City is just on the way to Oreburgh City, just as Gary says it is. We could get there in several days."
"And that's before the contest gets started, right, Terra?" Dawn asked.
"We're gonna before you know it, Dawn," Terra assured her.
"So, Dawn, what Pokémon do you were gonna catch on the way?" Ventus asked.
"I haven't really thought of my first catch. No need to worry!" Dawn said.
"Why do I have a sudden feeling to worry when she says that?" Aqua asked herself.
"Come on, everyone! Let's go! I wanna see more Pokémon living here!" Ventus said, running.
"Ven! Slow down! You're gonna end up getting lost and all of us are going to be in trouble!" Sora said, going after him.
"Pika!" Pikachu said.
Meowth sighs, "Here we go." He goes after the cousins as Kairi, Terra, Aqua, and Dawn joins in the chase.
Unknown to the group, a Piplup is following them. This Piplup is a little bit bigger than Dawn's Piplup and isn't quite a crybaby. This Piplup saw Sora from the dock and decided to follow them. The Piplup was watching the battle between Sora and Paul and he became inspired by Sora's skills. The Piplup wanted to see more of Sora's skills in battle and follows them.
How will Sora and Kairi do while in this new region? And what does Team Galactic have planned for the universe? And will they meet this wild Piplup soon? Find out soon enough as we continue on.
