The following Saturday, Elizabeth pulled into the driveway of Nathan's split level house promptly at 9am. She didn't want to deal with taking Little Jack in and out of his carseat so she simply gave a light tap of her horn to let Nathan know she was there. While she waited, she wondered what the inside of Nathan's home looked like as she realized she hadn't been inside yet.

A couple minutes later, Elizabeth watched as a smiling Allie bolted out the front door and ran towards the car. Nathan was right behind her except he stopped to activate the alarm and lock the door. Elizabeth's breath caught as she took in Nathan's casual look of jeans, sneakers, a navy blue henley and a Yankees cap. Allie got situated in the backseat next to Jack as Nathan slid into the passenger seat.

Elizabeth smiled first at Allie and then at Nathan.

"Good morning you two! I hope it's not too early. Jack is an early riser so this is late for him." Elizabeth said with a chuckle.

"Hi Miss Elizabeth. Hi Jack!"

Jack beamed at his new seatmate and showed Allie one of his toy cars.

Since Jack was seated behind the passenger seat, Elizabeth watched in awe as Nathan turned himself around fully and put his hand on Little Jack's leg.

"Good morning Little Man! Are you ready to have some fun at AdventureWorld?" asked Nathan.

"Nat'an!" smiled Jack as he held up the same toy car to Nathan that he had just showed Allie.

"Yup, that's a good one!" said Nathan as he turned towards Elizabeth.

"And good morning to you Elizabeth. You look beautiful as always."

With that Nathan leaned over and quickly pressed his lips to Elizabeth's. Both were conscious of the audience in the backseat so the kiss was quick yet satisfying. They continued to stare into each other's eyes for a few minutes until Nathan spoke again.

"Thank you for driving today. It's not often that I extend an invitation and then am the one getting picked up. I feel a bit spoiled."

"Enjoy it Detective. I know you've had a long week. And it just makes more sense with Jack's carseat and the rest of his baby gear. We can call it even from last week."

Nathan took Elizabeth's right hand into his. "There is no need for that Elizabeth. I'm just glad the timing worked out and I was able to be there for you. I would do it again in a heartbeat. And I enjoyed our impromptu evening together as well."

Elizabeth smiled and squeezed Nathan's hand before responding to him. "Me too. And thank you again for coming to get us. Now shall we get going? Is everybody ready back there?"

A chorus of three simultaneous Yeses let Elizabeth know that it was ok to start driving. She activated the GPS and backed out of Nathan's driveway.

"Our drive should be about 30 minutes or so. And we have some beautiful weather today." said Elizabeth as she tuned the car radio to the Broadway channel.

Elizabeth and Nathan chatted softly during the drive while the kids played in the backseat. Since the events of the previous Saturday, they had started talking on the phone each night once the kids were asleep, sometimes talking in excess of an hour. Both Elizabeth and Nathan were starting to realize that it was getting harder and harder to live without the other. But at the same time, both questioned whether it might be too soon in their relationship to commit further. Given their new nightly chats, there was still no shortage of topics to discuss in the car. Elizabeth and Nathan talked about their plans for the rest of the day at the amusement park and then planned on taking the kids out to dinner afterwards.

Once the foursome arrived at AdventureWorld, Elizabeth quickly found a parking spot and walked back to the trunk to take out Little Jack's stroller. By the time she opened it, Nathan was standing in front of her holding a beaming Jack with Allie at his side. Elizabeth smiled back at them and then let Nathan help her get Jack situated in his stroller. The group walked to the park entrance where Nathan quickly purchased admission tickets for all of them. Once they passed through the turnstiles, Elizabeth grabbed a park map and started planning out which rides to visit first. She was pleased that there was a good selection of toddler friendly rides as well as stuff that Allie would enjoy at her age.

Elizabeth squatted next to Jack's stroller and pointed to the rides in front of them. "Look Jack, it's your first amusement park visit!"

Jack responded by smiling and happily clapping his hands. Nathan and Allie smiled as they looked on.

Elizabeth stood up. "Nathan, Allie, do you think we could start with some of the toddler friendly rides first. I know this little guy will likely fall asleep for his morning nap in about 90 minutes or so. And then we can enjoy some rides of Allie's choice while he sleeps."

"Of course Elizabeth. I'm sure Allie will enjoy riding some of the kiddie rides with Jack too." said Nathan as he put his arm around Allie.

Elizabeth showed the park map to Nathan and Allie and they decided to start with the kiddie train and then the caterpillar ride which was basically another train. After parking the stroller, the foursome rode the kiddie train, the caterpillar, the flying airplanes, the carousel, the pirate ride, and the kiddie tea cups together. Elizabeth and Nathan watched and took photos as Allie took Little Jack on the kiddie swings and then played with him in the pirate themed kiddie play area. Nathan quickly scooped up Jack as he watched the little boy's eyes droop. He then put Jack back in his stroller and reclined it so he could take his nap.

"Jack's morning nap is pretty short, usually less than an hour."

"No worries, Elizabeth. What would you like to do Al?"

"Can we go on some of the adult rides Uncle Nathan?"

Nathan laughed. "Somehow I knew you were going to say that Kiddo!"

"How about the family roller coaster followed by the antique cars?" asked Allie.

"Well, someone needs to stay with Little Jack. Elizabeth, would you like to ride with Allie?"

"Why don't we take turns? The park isn't too crowded today so lines are not long at all. This way we both can ride with Allie. Is that ok Allie?"

"Oh yes Miss Elizabeth. I'd love that!"

Elizabeth laughed and she and Nathan exchanged smiles, getting lost in each other's eyes as usual. The foursome then walked over to the family coaster and Nathan watched as Elizabeth and Allie rode together. He made sure to snap a few photos as well. Then he switched places with Elizabeth and went on the coaster with Allie too. Unbeknownst to him, Elizabeth also snapped some photos of Nathan and Allie on the coaster. They then headed over to the antique car track where each adult allowed Allie to drive them around the simulated race track. By the time they went on a couple more rides, Little Jack was awake and refreshed.

Since it was just after noon, they decided to grab some lunch at one of the onsite restaurants. Little Jack insisted that Nathan sit next to him so Nathan obliged and helped the little boy with his chicken nuggets and fries. Elizabeth was grateful that her son had taken to Nathan just as quickly as Allie had taken to her. After lunch, they decided to play some of the outdoor carnival games before heading back to the rides.

Nathan and Allie competed against one another while Elizabeth and Jack watched. They played long range basketball, short range basketball, whac-a-mole, ring toss, goblet toss, strongman, and rising water. Jack was excited when Allie handed him a large green stuffed caterpillar she had won. She insisted that Jack call him "Heimlich" just like in the movie A Bug's Life. As Jack was getting settled in his stroller with his new friend, Nathan snuck up behind Elizabeth and reached his arm around Elizabeth holding out an adorable stuffed brown horse. She smiled and turned around to look up at Nathan.

"Is this my own mini Newton? You know I still have yet to meet my competition for your affections, Detective." Elizabeth said with a wink.

"Noted, my dear. We will arrange that soon enough. In the interim, maybe this little guy can be a reminder of me when we're not together."

"As if I need any reminders of you. But I do appreciate having something tangible that I can look at."

Nathan couldn't help himself. He leaned his head down as Elizabeth leaned her head up and they kissed right there in the middle of the amusement park. The sound of throat clearing interrupted them.

"I hope I'm not interrupting anything important." smiled Allie. Elizabeth blushed while Nathan looked down for a minute before looking back at his niece. "Precocious as always, Allie."

"My goodness Allie, you've won a lot!" said Elizabeth as she eyed the stuffed animals in Allie's arms. Allie had won a green caterpillar for herself and Nathan had won her a brown horse identical to the one he had just given Elizabeth. She also held a small panda bear.

Elizabeth motioned to Allie to put the items in the basket under Jack's stroller. They spent another hour going on kiddie and family rides before deciding to call it a day. Jack was already falling asleep again as the group got back to Elizabeth's SUV. Nathan carefully lifted Jack out of his stroller and got him settled in his carseat while Elizabeth put away the stroller and prize haul with Allie.

Once everyone was situated, Elizabeth started the drive back towards Hope Valley. Along the way, she started to lose her audience. By the time they arrived back in Hope Valley, all three of her passengers were sound asleep. Elizabeth couldn't help but glance at the kids in her rearview mirror and then she looked over at the selfless man sleeping next to her in the passenger seat. She was definitely falling fast and hard for Nathan or maybe she already had.

Elizabeth gently tapped Nathan's arm as they entered Hope Valley's main street.

"Hey Sleepyhead, how was your nap?"

Nathan yawned and looked around to get his bearings. "I'm sorry Elizabeth. I didn't mean to fall asleep on you."

"It's ok. It was a long day." Elizabeth said with a laugh. "Are you still up for an early dinner?"

"Yes absolutely. Hope Valley Diner?"

"That sounds perfect and very toddler friendly."

Elizabeth quickly drove over to the Hope Valley Diner, parked and woke up the kids. This time Nathan just held Jack in his arms as they walked into the restaurant. The budding family decided to enjoy breakfast for dinner since they had eaten out for lunch too. Turns out they all enjoy breakfast food anytime of day so everyone ordered omelettes and potatoes. After dinner, Elizabeth drove Nathan and Allie home.

Allie said her good-byes to Elizabeth and Jack and then went inside the house first. Little Jack was playing quietly in the backseat so Nathan leaned over and kissed Elizabeth this time a bit more slowly and passionately than he had earlier in the day. They finally came up for air.

"Thank you for a fun day, Nathan. We had a great time. Jack's first amusement park visit was a success. Maybe there is hope for us and Walt Disney World after all."

Nathan's breath caught as he thought of the future possibilities. "Elizabeth, I know we haven't known each other that long but things just feel so right between us. Today was no exception. I love that the four of us can do activities together so seamlessly."

"So do I, Nathan. Today felt so natural."

Nathan wanted to say more about his feelings but he was scared that Elizabeth wasn't ready to hear it yet. Instead, he leaned forward again and pressed his lips to Elizabeth's again, this being their longest kiss of the day.

"Nat'an kiss Mama!"

Nathan and Elizabeth laughed and this time just pressed their foreheads together.

"I think Little Jack is giving me my cue." chuckled Nathan.

"Hey, why don't you and Little Jack come over for dinner tomorrow? Gabe, Lillian and Spencer are coming by for a barbeque before it gets too cold. The only reason I hadn't asked sooner is because I didn't want to pressure you at all, with two events in one weekend."

"I'd like that a lot. I've been meaning to get together with Lillian anyhow so this is perfect."

"Ok then I'm glad. Good night my sweet Elizabeth. Today was a wonderful day."

"Yes it was Nathan. We'll see you tomorrow."

Nathan picked up Elizabeth's right hand and kissed it before turning around to say good night to Little Jack. He then got out of the car and smiled at Elizabeth again.

"Text me when you get home so I know you're safe."

"Nathan, it's ten minutes away!"

"And I want to make sure 2 of the people I care about most are safe."

Elizabeth smiled back at Nathan. "Will do, my sweet Nathan."

Nathan closed the car door and watched as the woman he was now certain he loved and the little boy he loved drove away. He couldn't wait for tomorrow.
