Episode 327: Rock N Roark!
A few days had come and went since catching Porygon and Shinx, Agumon joining the group and battling Barry, they were getting closer to Oreburgh City. They filled Agumon about the specific Types each Gym Leader used. Unknown to them, Gabumon and Biyomon were heading for Oreburgh City without knowing where they were going themselves. They spotted Agumon with them.
"Agumon!" Biyomon said. She was about to fly towards him, but Gabumon stopped her.
"Wait, Biyomon. What about those guys?" Gabumon asked.
"I don't know, but we should follow them and see where they're going," Biyomon suggested. Gabumon agreed with the bird-like Digimon. Skorupi runs pass them and he didn't notice the two of them.
"Excuse us," Gabumon called out to the scorpion Pokémon. He turned turned to see them.
"Rupi?" Skorupi asked.
"Do you know where we are?" Gabumon asked.
"Skorupi, rupi, rupi, Skorupi," Skorupi said. Neither of Gabumon or Biyomon could understand him.
"What did that thing say, Gabumon?" Biyomon asked. Gabumon just shrugged. Skorupi continued on the pursuit of Sora and his friends. Gabumon and Biyomon followed the scorpion Pokémon.
In the Digital World, Gomamon came out of the water and started running for his life. He makes it through the jungle as he bumped into Tentomon, Palmon, Patamon, Gatomon, Veemon, Hawkmon, Armadillomon, Wormmon in the jungle.
"Guys, you're okay! Where are Agumon, Gabumon, and Biyomon?" Gomamon asked.
"We don't know. We were hoping you would," Armadillomon said.
"Sorry," Gomamon said. "What about you guys?"
"A bunch of Kuwagamon and a Snimon attacked. Took out some innocent Digimon," Palmon said.
"Myotismon doesn't know a thing about any decency," Veemon said.
"I hope they're okay," Tentomon said.
Back in Sinnoh, Sora, Kairi, Riku, Naminé, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Pikachu, Eevee, Angel, Meowth, Azurill, and Agumon all arrived in Oreburgh City as they met up with Lucas and Dawn.
"Lucas, Dawn, hey," Sora greeted.
"Hi Sora," Dawn greeted.
"You win your Gym battle yet?" Sora asked.
"No. Not yet. But I was thinking maybe, I could watch your battle before I get on with mine," Lucas said.
"If you want to watch, but I can understand that," Sora said. His Pokédex starts buzzing and Sora answers it. "And what perfect timing, Professor Oak got the info he needed on Riolu." Sora took out his Pokémon Box and he exchanged Chimchar for Riolu. Lucas and Dawn looked at Agumon.
"So, what is this?" Lucas asked.
"Long story," Agumon said. They were amazed by how he talked.
"A very long story," Sora said. They explained to Lucas and Dawn that Agumon is from a different world and they were amazed by what they were just told. "I know it's weird, but that's the story."
"Gotta admit, it's pretty cool," Lucas said.
"Totally cool," Dawn said.
"Really?" Agumon asked.
"Yeah. Very cool," Lucas said. "So, should we head for the Gym?"
"You read my mind, Lucas," Sora said.
The group started to head for the Oreburgh Gym, unaware of being followed by Gabumon and Biyomon. They arrived to the Gym to find Paul was stepping out of the Gym.
"Oh, you again," Sora said.
"Do I know you?" Paul asked with sarcasim.
"I don't know, you might be dreaming," Sora said. He said under his breath, "And I might be having a nightmare."
"Who's he?" Riku asked.
"Paul. An abusive trainer we unfortunately met. He catches Pokémon and releases them if he sees they're weak," Kairi explained. Riku disliked him already and gave him a hateful glare. Out came a young man with red hair, who wears glasses. He wears a mining outfit, consisted of grey short-sleeved jacket and baggy pants with yellow/black outlines, which are tucked into his boots. The boots has red soles underneath them. He has a black tank underneath. He also wore white gloves with yellow outlines, and is usually seen with a red mining helmet.
"Well now, I have myself some more challengers on my doorstep. Now which one of you is it?" The young man asked.
"Are you Roark, the Oreburgh Gym Leader?" Sora asked.
"Yes I am. And you would be?" Roark asked.
"I'm Sora Ketchum from Pallet Town," Sora introduced. Roark paused for a moment. He knew he knew that name before.
"Sora Ketchum? You mean you're the Pokémon League Champion of Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn, right?" Roark asked.
"That's right," Sora said. Paul was surprised, but he wasn't going to accept him being a Pokémon League Champion.
"And you're here to challenge me into a battle," Roark said.
"Yes," Sora said.
"And I'm going to challenge you after him," Lucas said.
"Good. I would be more than happy to accept your challenge, but you'll have to wait until tomorrow to have our battle. Because Paul already had his battle and earned his badge," Roark said.
"I can wait," Sora said.
"Now, if you excuse me, I'm needed down at the mines," Roark said. He takes out two Badge cases. "And be sure to keep these, because you are going to need these." Sora and Lucas took their Badge cases and placed them in their pockets.
At the Pokémon Center, Sora was getting Turtwig, Piplup, and Riolu ready for their battle as they were training. Kairi, Riku, Ventus, Lucas, and Agumon were watching Sora train his Pokémon for the upcoming Gym battle.
"You think Sora is going to win it?" Agumon asked.
"I know he is. This is Sora we're talking about," Ventus said. "He'll win it!"
"Sora is not going to find this battle easy and Sora knows it," Riku said.
"He's right, Ven. I didn't find it easy in the Grand Festival and he didn't find it easy during the Hoenn Pokémon League," Kairi said.
"He should just give up before he started," Paul said. Riku glared right at him.
"And who asked you?" Riku asked. He walked up to him.
"He's an amatuer trainer. There's no way a kid like him is a Pokémon League Champion. He's too soft to be a strong trainer," Paul said.
"You're wrong! Sora is a strong trainer and I know it," Riku said. "You don't know Sora like I do. Sora battled some tough trainers from when he got started and he's full of more heart than anyone I know. And if you can't see that, then it's your problem."
"Why do you even care how I view him? He's patheic," Paul said. Riku really didn't like his attitude.
"If I were you, I would just keep my mouth shut, because if I talk crap about someone like Sora just like you just did, I wouldn't really call myself a trainer," Riku said.
"Why do you even care about how I talk about him?" Paul asked, not liking Riku's tone.
"I care because he is my friend. And anyone who talks shit about my friend don't know their asses from a hole in the ground," Riku said. "If anyone here is pathetic, it's you." Now, Paul was angry. His face turned red to the insult Riku just gave him.
"You're calling me pathetic? You calling me pathetic?! How about you have a battle against me? Five minutes!" Paul challenged.
"I hope you're ready for what's coming, because I plan on putting you in your place, you little brat," Riku said.
Five minutes later, Riku and Paul stood to have their battle. Naminé and Azurill were standing by as they were watching.
"How do you wanna do this?" Riku asked.
"Three on three!" Paul said.
"Fine with me," Riku said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Incineroar!" His Pokéball opens and Incineroar comes out to battle.
"An Incineroar!" Paul said.
"Show me what you've got!" Riku said. Paul took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Elekid! Stand by for battle!" Paul called out as Elekid came on out to battle. "Elekid! Thunder!" Elekid spins his arms around and lets out Thunder.
"Bulk Up!" Riku ordered. Incineroar flexed his muscles and took the hit from Elekid's attack. Incineroar didn't even feel a thing much to Paul's dismay.
"What?!" Paul exclaimed.
"Incineroar! Darkest Lariat!" Riku ordered. Incineroar spins around while using his signature attack and lands a brutal blow onto Elekid, knocking him out with one hit. Paul calls Elekid back and takes out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Ursaring! Stand by for battle!" Paul called out as his Ursaring came out to battle against the heel Pokémon. "Use Slash!" Ursaring comes at the final evolved form of Alola.
"Throat Chop!" Riku ordered. Incineroar lunges his hand into Ursaring's gut and stops Slash. "Now use Fire Punch!" Incineroar lands a Fire Punch onto Ursaring. The bear Pokémon takes a pretty bad hit.
"Focus Blast!" Paul ordered. Ursaring forms a ball of energy, but Riku wasn't going to go down that easily.
"Darkest Lariat!" Riku ordered. Incineroar spins around again as Ursaring hurls Focus Blast at the heel Pokémon, but Incineoar takes out the attack and lands a hit onto Ursaring, earning a knock out. Paul calls back his Ursaring and he took out one more Pokéball and threw it.
"Torterra! Stand by for battle!" Paul called out. Out came a large Pokémon that resembles a cross between an ankylosaur and a tortoise. It has a dark-green shell on its back with a white rim and diamond shape, along with a large tree on top. Three spiked rocks also line its back, and part of its shell appears to be covered in dirt. Its body is mostly dark-green above the midsection, but underneath, its body is brown. To keep its balance and support its weight, it has a short, pointed tail and muscular legs tipped with rock-like nails. Torterra also has two silver spikes on both sides of its head, red eyes, and a black, kite-shaped beak.
"A Torterra, huh? That's an impressive Pokémon, I'll give you that," Riku said.
"I don't need praise from the likes of you. Your Incineroar has the advantage being a Fire Type Pokémon, but my Torterra has the advantage at being a Ground Type," Paul said.
"You're right about that, Paul. My Incineroar isn't easy to scare, just like you found out when he took out your Elekid and Ursaring," Riku said.
"Torterra! Stone Edge!" Paul ordered. Torterra slams into the ground as jagged rocks came out of the ground.
"Bulk Up!" Riku ordered. Incineroar flexed his muscles again and builds up both his attack and defense. The stones did hurt him, but it wasn't enough to bring Incineroar down. "Now use Throat Chop!" Incineroar lunges his hand right on Torterra's throat. "Now, use Fire Punch!" Incineroar lands a powerful burning punch onto Torterra.
"Torterra! Use Hyper Beam!" Paul ordered. Torterra prepared to use Hyper Beam. Torterra fires it right at its target.
"Dodge and use Darkest Lariat!" Riku ordered. Incineroar avoids Torterra's Hyper Beam and spins around and lands a hit onto the fully evolved Grass Sinnoh Starter Pokémon. Torterra had been taken down. It was clear that Riku had won that battle. Riku walked up to Incineroar and placed his hand on his shoulder. "Good work as always, Incineroar." The heel Pokémon beamed at the praise. Paul calls his Torterra back and glared right at Riku. "Looks like your bite wasn't as good as your bark."
"You just got lucky, just like he did," Paul said.
"Luck has nothing to do with it. You were too focused on winning, you let your anger towards me do the talking for you," Riku said. Paul started to walk off. "Nothing to say?" Paul turned to face Riku again.
"I'll be watching tomorrow. And I'll be happy when your friend loses and then you'll see that I was right," Paul said.
"You'd still be wrong about him either way," Riku stated. Paul walked off as Naminé walked up to her boyfriend.
Back to Sora and his Pokémon. Turtwig, Piplup, and Riolu practiced their chosen attacks. Right in the rocks, two more Pokémon were in the area. One is a bipedal Pokémon that resembles a pachycephalosaurus. It has having long hindlimbs and short forelimbs, and also having an extremely thick skull roof. The front of its body is largely gray, while it's back and the top of its head are blue. From the sides to the back of its head are four large spikes. The other is a small, yellow, ceratopsian-like reptilian Pokémon. It has white toes and a white bump on its back. This Pokémon has a dark-gray elliptical face, with a prominent white brow and a white rim on its black snout. The two Pokémon went to find the source of the disturbance. They found Sora and his three Pokémon training and they charge right in. The pachycephalosaurus-like Pokémon headbutts Turtwig as the ceratopsian-like Pokémon rammed into Piplup. This catches the attention of Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Ventus, and Agumon.
"What the?!" Sora asked.
"Are those Pokémon too?" Agumon asked.
"I think they are. Let's see," Sora said, taking out his Pokédex and scanned them both.
Cranidos, the Head Butt Pokémon
Type: Rock
Cranidos lived in the jungles of the world from 100 millions years ago. Cranidos used its head to headbutt trees and rocks, reducing its intelligence in the process. Cranidos used its skill in headbutting to combat Aerodactyl.
Shieldon, the Shield Pokémon
Type: Rock/Steel
Shieldon linved in the jungles of the world from 100 million years ago. Shieldon used its facial shield to defend itself from attacking predators. It also used its shield to dig up tree roots to eat.
"Just as I thought, they're prehistoric Pokémon," Sora said.
"So cool! I'm seeing two extinct Pokémon! Ventus said. Agumon was confused by what Ventus said.
"What's extinct?" Agumon asked in his thoughts. Cranidos starts up by charging with a Headbutt. Riolu stepped in.
"Riolu! Force Palm!" Sora ordered. Riolu stops Cranidos by thrusting his palm into the head butt Pokémon with great force, sending the attacking Pokémon flying backwards. "Now use Metal Claw!" Riolu comes at Shieldon to strike at Shieldon, but defended itself by using Protect.
"Shieldon just used Protect!" Kairi said.
"What does that do?" Agumon asked.
"Protect blocks an opponent's attack," Kairi explained. Cranidos comes back with a vengeance as it lowers its head towards Riolu.
"Dodge and use Aura Sphere!" Sora ordered. Riolu avoids Cranidos's attack and forms Aura Sphere. He threw it right at Cranidos, earning a knockout. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it at Cranidos. The Pokéball wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Sora's Pokémon Box activates and it asks him if he wants to keep Cranidos with him. He chose to send Cranidos to Professor Oak's lab. Now he had only Shieldon to deal with. "Shieldon isn't going to be easy because of Protect. Gotta plan my moves carefully." Shieldon comes running toward Riolu with Tackle. "Riolu! Double Team!" Riolu makes several copies of himself and Shieldon gas a hard time telling which was which. "Now use Aura Sphere!" Riolu fires Aura Sphere right at the shield Pokémon, causing some heavy damage. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it. Shieldon flows inside and it starts to wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around it to confirm the catch. Sora's Pokémon Box activates and it asks him if he wants to keep Shieldon with him. He chose to send Shieldon to Professor Oak's lab. "Two prehistoric Pokémon under my belt."
"Terra and Aqua are not going to believe this," Ventus said.
"Not yet anyway," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu agreed.
Outside of Oreburgh City, Gabumon and Biyomon had finally arrived in the city and went down to search for Agumon.
On the very next day, Sora got ready for his Gym battle as Turtwig, Piplup, and Riolu got their rest after that training and cathing Cranidos and Shieldon. Riku, Naminé, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Lucas, Pikachu, Eevee, Angel, Meowth, Azurill, and Agumon were waiting for Sora and noticed his girlfrind weren't with them.
"Hey, where's Kairi?" Sora asked.
"Right here!" Dawn said coming from behind him. Sora turned to see Kairi and Dawn in cheerleader outfits. Their cheerleader outfits were pink. Sora found Kairi very cute in in.
"Kairi, why are you dressed up like that?" Sora asked.
"It was Dawn's idea. She was insistent on it," Kairi said, blushing. Sora was also blushing.
"You look very cute in that outfit, Kairi. Very cute," Sora said in a compliment. Kairi blushed at the compliment.
They headed down for the Gym to begin the Gym battle. Paul was present on the opposite side of his friends.
"This is so exciting. Sora is going to have his very first Gym battle in Sinnoh," Ventus said, rooting for his cousin.
"I know how you feel, Ven. Too bad Barry has to miss this," Lucas said.
"Okay, Kairi, you ready to root for your boyfriend?" Dawn asked.
"More than ready, Dawn. Let's do this!" Kairi said as she and Dawn began their cheering. Angel, Buneary, Bidoof, Darumaka, Frosmoth, and Kricketune were also doing their cheering.
"Looks very different from that Contest battle Kairi had," Agumon said.
"And you're about to see how that is," Riku said as the referee stepped in.
"The battle of the Oreburgh Gym is about to begin! The battle is between Roark, the Orebugh Gym Leader and Sora Ketchum, the challenger! Both trainers will be using three Pokémon each! Only the challenger will be allowed to switch his Pokémon anytime! The battle is over when all three of either the challenger's or the Gym Leader's Pokémon are unable to battle! Let the battle begin!" Roark makes his first move.
"Geodude! Let's go!" Roark called out as his Geodude came on out.
"Go! Piplup!" Sora called out as his Piplup came out to battle.
"Piplup is a good choice since Piplup's a Water Type," Lucas said.
"Right, Rock Types are vulnerable against Water Types," Aqua said.
"Geodude! Start things up with Stealth Rock!" Roark ordered. Geodude sends out pointed rocks all around the penguin Pokémon.
"Not Stealth Rock!" Riku exclaimed.
"Stealth Rock?" Dawn asked.
"Stealth Rock is a move that hurts any Pokémon that makes a switch during battle. It has no effect on Pokémon currently out on the field. This be how Roark makes his Gym battles challenging," Riku said.
"Ouch, that must hurt," Ventus said.
"Piplup is okay for now," Aqua said.
"Piplup! Bubble Beam!" Sora ordered. Piplup fires Bubble Beam right at the rock Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Rollout!" Roark ordered. Geodude rolls into a ball and heads right towards Piplup.
"This is bad! Rollout deals even more damage each time it hits!" Terra said.
"Dodge and use Hydro Pump!" Sora ordered. Piplup avoids Geodude's Rollout and fires Hydro Pump right at Geodude, causing a heavy hit. Roark was impressed by how Sora had let out Piplup's Hydro Pump.
"Not bad, Sora. Your Piplup is a toughie!" Roark said. Paul wasn't too sure, because he thought it was only dumb luck that his Piplup landed a hit. Paul also remembered when Geodude used Stealth Rock on his Pokémon.
"Thanks a lot, Roark! Okay, Piplup! Peck!" Sora ordered. Piplip moved in to deliever Peck onto Geodude. Peck did very little damage.
"Geodude looks like it's taking very little damage," Agumon said.
"Rock Types are resistant to Flying Type moves like Peck and Sora knows it. Sora must have something planned," Aqua said.
"Bubble Beam!" Sora ordered. Piplup fires Bubble Beam right at Geodude, causing some heavy damage. "Wrap it up with Hydro Pump!" Piplup fires Hydro Pump and sends Geodude against the wall. Geodude slides down on the wall.
"Geodude is unable to battle! Piplup wins!" The referee announced.
"Sora's taken the lead!" Kairi cheered. "Sora's the best! Better than all the rest!" Dawn also cheered for Sora, making Lucas jealous, seeing his crush rooting for Sora out there. Roark calls back his Geodude.
"You battled hard, my friend," Roark said. He took out his next Pokéball. "Okay, Onix! You're up!" Roark threw his Pokéball and out comes his Onix making a roar upon entry.
"That one is huge," Agumon said.
"Onix is a heavy hitter for a huge Pokémon," Meowth said.
"You think Sora will switch Pokémon even with Stealth Rock in effect?" Lucas asked.
"He knows Stealth Rock is risky. Roark's Onix will definitely give Sora's Piplup a real hard time," Riku said.
"Double Edge!" Roark ordered. Onix moves in to deliever a hit onto Piplup.
"Dodge and use Bubble Beam!" Sora ordered. Piplup avoids Onix's attack. "Now, use Hydro Pump!" Piplup fires Hydro Pump right at the rock snake Pokémon. Onix took a heavy blow from the powerful Water Type attack.
"Dragon Breath!" Roark ordered. Onix fires Dragon Breath fires Dragon Breath right at Piplup and lands a hit. Piplup now became paralyzed.
"What's wrong with Piplup?" Agumon asked.
"Piplup's paralyzed," Meowth said.
"Dragon Breath is a Dragon Type attack that can paralyze a target when it hits," Terra said.
"Stay strong, Piplup!" Sora said.
"Onix! Double Edge!" Roark ordered. Onix moves in and delivers a hit onto the penguin Pokémon.
"Hey, doesn't Double Edge hurt Onix after being used?" Ventus asked.
"Yes it does, Ven, but Onix has an ability called Rock Head. It prevents Onix from taking recoil damage from like Double Edge," Riku said. Sora saw Piplup wasn't going to last much longer, so he had to switch his team even with Stealth Rock.
"He's switching?" Meowth asked.
"Stealth Rock is still in effect, so why?" Naminé asked.
"He saw Piplup wasn't doing so good, so he had to risk it," Terra said. Sora took out Turtwig's Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Turtwig!" Sora called out and his Turtwig came right out. Turtwig takes damage from Stealth Rock.
"I see why Stealth Rock is a real problem," Agumon said.
"And Turtwig is a smart move since Grass Type Pokémon like Turtwig is a good matchup for Rock Type Pokémon like Onix," Lucas said.
"So, a Grass Type, huh? You came fully prepared for my Rock Types. But you should know by now that Types alone won't help you win this battle," Roark said.
"I'm ready for anything you got, Roark," Sora said.
"As I expect. Onix! Use Head Smash!" Roark ordered. Onix moves in to deliver Head Smash to Turtwig.
"Dodge and use Razor Leaf!" Sora ordered. Turtwig avoids Onix and unleashed Razor Leaf on the rock snake Pokémon. Onix takes heavy damage. "Now use Bite!" Turtwig moves in and gives Onix a Bite on its tail and gave it a toss onto the ground, earning a knockout in favor for Sora.
"Onix is unable to battle! Turtwig wins!" The referee announced. Roark calls back his Onix.
"That was very impressive, Sora! I can see why you won those three Pokémon League tournaments. And the way you handled your Pokémon is proof that you are a skilled Pokémon trainer. Now, here is my last Pokémon," Roark said, taking out his next Pokéball and threw it. "Cranidos! Let's go!" The Pokéball opens and out came a Cranidos. This Cranidos is so much stronger than the one Sora caught.
"Wow, a Cranidos," Ventus said.
"Didn't Sora already catch that one?" Agumon asked.
"He did after he shown us his Pokémon Box along with that Shieldon .But I'll have to say, that Cranidos is so much stronger. I can tell just by looking at it," Terra said.
"Turtwig! Razor Leaf!" Sora ordered. Turtwig fires Razor Leaf right at Cranidos, hoping to cause some damage.
"Use Flamethrower!" Roark ordered. Cranidos fires Flamethrower and burns the leaves and deals heavy damage onto Turtwig.
"Flamethrower?" Naminé asked.
"Must be how Roark deals with Grass Types. Clever counter measure," Riku said.
"Now use Zen Headbutt!" Roark ordered. Cranidos moves in and deals a heavy hitting blow onto Turtwig, earning a knockout.
"Turtwig is unable to battle! Cranidos wins!" The referee announced. Sora calls back Turtwig.
"You did your best, Turtwig. Get some rest," Sora said, taking out Piplup's Pokéball and threw it. "Okay Piplup! Back to acation!" Piplup comes back out and takes damage from Stealth Rock. Piplup is still standing strong. "Piplup's still tired from that battle with Onix, but I know he'll pull through."
"Piplup's not looking so good," Dawn said.
"That battle with Onix really did a number on him," Aqua said.
"And Piplup may not last long out there," Meowth said.
"Piplup! Hydro Pump!" Sora ordered. Piplup fires Hydro Pump right at the head butt Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Headbutt!" Roark ordered. Cranidos avoids Hydro Pump and heads towards Piplup. Cranidos lands a successful hit onto Piplup.
"Piplup! Peck!" Sora ordered. Piplup moves in to give Cranidos a Peck.
"Focus Energy and then use Zen Headbutt!" Roark ordered. Cranidos builds up focus and lands a headbutt onto the penguin Pokémon and earned a knockout.
"Piplup is unable to battle! Cranidos wins!" The referee announced. Sora calls back Piplup.
"Get some rest, Piplup, you earned it," Sora said.
"And that's two Sora lost," Ventus said.
"All that's left is Riolu," Meowth said. Agumon notices something happening to Cranidos.
"Look at that!" Agumon said.
Everyone watches in amazement as Cranidos was now evolving. Cranidos transformed into a larger Pokémon also based on the pachycephalosaurus; it has long hindlimbs and short forelimbs, and also having an extremely thick skull roof. Its eyes are dark red and very close to the blue dome on the top of its head. There is less blue on it then Cranidos but there are some rings of blue on its wrists, neck It has several spikes covering it including its head, knees, neck and two very small spikes near the tip of its nose.
"Cranidos evolved! It's now a Rampardos!" Riku said. Sora looked right at the newly evolved Rampardos and scanned it with his Pokédex.
Rampardos, the Head Butt Pokémon
The evolved form of Cranidos
Type: Rock
Its powerful head butt has enough power to shatter even the most durable things upon impact. Its skull is as hard as iron. It is a brute that tears down jungle trees while catching prey.
"Man, this is going to be pretty hard after evolving," Sora said in his thoughts.
"I knew you were close enough to evolving, Rampardos. I wasn't expecting it to be right now," Roark said. Sora takes out his third Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Riolu!" Sora called out. Riolu came right out and takes damage from Stealth Rock.
"Now, I see it is confirmed that you have come fully prepared for my Rock Types by sending out a Fighting Type Pokémon against my Rock Types. But, will it be enough to take down my newly evolved Rampardos?" Roark asked.
"My Riolu is a very unique Riolu. And you're about to see why's that. Riolu! Aura Sphere!" Sora ordered. Paul was confused by what he told his Riolu to do. Roark, Riku and Naminé were also surprised as Riolu forms Aura Sphere and sends Aura Sphere right at Rampardos, causing some heavy damage.
"A Riolu that can use Aura Sphere, now that's interesting," Roark said.
"How can he have a Pokémon that can use a move like Aura Sphere before evolving?" Paul asked in disbelief.
"Rampardos! Zen Headbutt!" Roark ordered. Rampardos heads towards Riolu to land a heavy headbutt.
"Zen Headbutt is how Roark deals with Fighting Type Pokémon since the regular Headbutt is a Normal Type attack," Lucas said. Rampardos heads towards Riolu to land a hit onto Riolu.
"Double Team!" Sora ordered. Riolu makes several images of himself. Rampardos looked around as the several Riolu images all surround Rampardos.
"Sora's turning the btables on Roark!" Agumon said.
"True. With Double Team, Rampardos can't figure out which one is the real one," Ventus said.
"You think that's going to get me, Sora? Think again! Rampardos! Use Zen Headbutt on the ground!" Rampardos slams its head onto the ground, causing all the duplicates to vanish and leave the original behind. "Now use Flamethower!" Rampardos fires Flamethrower right at Riolu.
"Dodge and use Metal Claw!" Sora ordered. Riolu started to head right towards Rampardos to land a metallic slash onto Rampardos.
"Flamethrower!" Roark ordered. Rampardos fires Flamethrower right at Riolu.
"Dodge it!" Sora called out. Riolu avoids Flamethrower, but Rampardos moves it to land a hit onto Riolu. "Hang in there, Riolu!"
"Good Rampardos! Zen Headbutt!" Roark ordered. Rampardos runs towards Riolu to land a blow onto him.
"Double Team!" Sora ordered. Riolu makes several duplicates of himself once again as Rampardos misses with Zen Headbutt.
"That old trick again! That won't work! Rampardos! Zen Headbutt on the ground!" Roark ordered. Rampardos lands a Headbutt on the ground as the duplicates all vanih, but the real one is no where to be seen. "What?!" Everyone were all surprised, especially Paul. The real one is right above Rampardos as he was now coming down. "Rampardos! Above you!" Rampardos turned to see Riolu coming down fast.
"That was great Riolu! Force Palm!" Sora ordered. Riolu lands a heavy blow onto Rampardos's back., sending it down on the ground. "Now use Aura Sphere!" Riolu charges up Aura Sphere and hurls it right at Rampardos and lands a heavy blow onto the head butt Pokémon resulting in a knockout. Riolu was pretty exhausted as he stood on his knee and stood back up.
"Rampardos is unable to battle! Riolu wins! The victory goes to Sora Ketchum from Pallet Town!" The referee announced as Kairi and her Pokémon cheered for the win. Paul was dumbfounded by how he saw Sora win his very first Gym battle after getting into a corner by Roark and his Rampardos.
"How can a mere amatuer just win like that?" Paul questioned in his thoughts. He was too proud to admit that he was wrong and just took off. Everyone were proud of Sora for winning, especially Kairi and Ventus.
"Wow, he won," Agumon said.
"Told ya!" Ventus said. Roark calls back his Rampardos and he went up to Sora.
"That was an amazing battle, Sora. I can see why you're the Pokémon League Champion of Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn. The way you battled is proof enough for me. And just so the world would know you beat me, I am happy to give you the Coal Badge," Roak said, handing Sora a Gym Badge shaped like a Pokéball and a treasure chest. Sora accepts his Gym Badge and places it in his Badge case.
"Thanks Roark. You were an awesome Gym Leader," Sora said. Roark was pleased to hear Sora compliment him like that. He turned to Lucas.
"Now, Lucas, I'll be happy to accept your challenge, but you will have have to wait until tomorrow," Roark said.
"I can wait. And after watching that battle, I'm getting even more fired up," Lucas said.
"That's what I like to hear," Roark said.
Everyone all returned to the Pokémon Center as Sora and Kairi went to celebrate his victory by having a dinner date for two.
"Where are they going?" Agumon asked.
"Just out to dinner on a date," Aqua sad.
"What's a date?" Agumon asked. Aqua looked right at the Digimon, knowing he never heard of one before.
"A date is when two people go out and do something as a couple. That's what Sora and Kairi are," Aqua explained.
"Okay," Agumon said. Agumon got curious and he decided to follow them. When he stepped outside, he bumped into Gabumon and Biyomon. Skorupi was with them as well. "Gabumon? Biyomon? Is that you?!"
"Agumon! You're okay!" Biyomon said, taking the dinosaur Digimon in her grip.
"Yeah, I'm okay," Agumon said. Agumon broke out of the bird Digimon's grip.
"Where have you been?" Gabumon asked.
"With these humans. Some of them are inside. They're my friends!" Agumon said, leading them inside. Agumon introduced his fellow Digimon to the human beings and Pokémon with them.
"Great, more of them," Meowth said under his breath.
"So, you came across your home to look for Agumon?" Ventus asked.
"Yes we did. Everyone is worried about you," Biyomon said.
"The others will be glad to hear from you again," Gabumon said.
A couple of hours later, Sora and Kairi were surprised to meet Gabumon and Biyomon for the first time. And they saw Skorupi as well.
"Skorupi?" Sora asked.
"Believe it or not, this is the same Skorupi form before. I know because I asked him," Meowth said.
"I was wondering what happened to you. Why were you following us?" Sora asked.
"Skorupi, rupi Skor, Skor, Skorupi, Skor," Skorupi said.
"Skorupi is saying that he was following us because he wanted to challenge you to a battle," Meowth translated.
"Is that all?" Sora asked. Skorupi nodded. "Okay, I can take you on that." Sora and Skorupi got ready. Pikachu was going to be the Pokémon he was using. The scorpion Pokémon was hoping it was going to be Pikachu. Skorupi makes the first move with Poison Sting. "Pikachu! Dodge and use Electro Ball!" Pikachu forms a ball of electricity and hurls it right at Skorupi. Skorupi avoids it and comes at Pikachu ready to give Pikachu a bite. "Iron Tail!" Pikachu swings his tail right at the scorpion Pokémon and lands a hit onto him. Skorupi wasn't ready to call it quits, because he grabbed Pikachu by the tail and gave him a toss. Skorupi heads right towards Pikachu, but Pikachu wasn't easy to take down. "Thunderbolt!" Pikachu gave Skorupi a shock and is now paralyzed. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it at Skorupi. Skorupi flows inside and the Pokéball wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Sora's Pokémon Box activates and it asks him if he wants to keep Skorupi with him. He chose to send Skorupi to Professor Oak's lab. Gabumon and Biyomon were amazed by how the battle went. Agumon explained to his friends about how a trainer catches a wild Pokémon.
On the very next day, Agumon invited Gabumon and Biyomon to join in watching Lucas in his very first Gym battle against Roark. Lucas and Roark stared right at each other.
"The battle between the Gym Leader Roark and the chalanger Lucas from Twinleaf Town is about to begin! Both trainers will be using three Pokémon each! Only the challanger will be allowed to switch Pokémon anytime! The battle is over when all three of either the Gym Leader's or the challanger's Pokémon are unable to continue! Choose your Pokémon and begin!" The referee announced. Roark took out his first Pokéball.
"Rampardos! Go!' Roark called out as his Rampardos came right out to battle. Lucas took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Go right in, Turtwig!" Lucas called out as Turtwig came right out to battle.
"Turtwig against Rampardos in the first round. A good matchup right from the word go," Sora said.
"Yeah, but he should be prepared for Rampardos's Flamethrower," Riku said.
"Flamethrower?" Biyomon asked.
"It's a strong fire attack that comes out its mouth. That Rampardos used it on Sora's Pokémon when he battled him yesterday," Agumon said.
"Dodge and use Razor Leaf!" Lucas ordered. Turtwig dodges Flamethrower and sends out Razor Leaf. Rampardos got hit by the leaves. "Now, use Bite!" Turtwig moved in to deliever a bite onto Rampardos.
"Use Zen Headbutt!" Roark orderd. Rampardos lands a Zen Headbutt onto the tiny leaf Pokémon and is knocked out.
"Turtwig is unable to battle! Rampardos wins!" The referee announced. Lucas called back Turtig and pulls out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Shinx!" Lucas called out. His Pokéball opens and out came his Shinx. "Shinx! Use Iron Tail!" Shinx swings his tail right at Rampardos and lands a heavy blox.
"Rampardos! Headbutt!" Roark ordered. Rampardos lands a headbutt onto Shinx, earning a single knockout.
"Shinx is unable to battle! Rampardos wins!" The referee announced.
"How come Lucas is getting creamed so fast?" Dawn asked.
"Roark must have done some training for this battle; and I don't doubt he did the same thing preparing the same thing for Sora's battle," Riku said.
"How come he's using Rampardos and not Geodude first?" Agumon asked.
"Maybe he is trying to throw Lucas off guard and I think he chose one different from his battle with Paul," Terra said. Lucas took out his next Pokéball and threw it.
"Growlithe! Go!" Lucas called out as Growlithe came out with a bark.
"This isn't good. Growlithe is at a disadvantage," Kairi said.
"You're right. Fire Type attacks won't be much damage to Rampardos," Naminé said.
"Growlithe! Fire Spin!" Lucas ordered. Growlithe fires Fire Spin to land a hit onto Rampardos, trapping it in a fiery vortex.
"Looks like Lucas is making a comeback!" Dawn cheered.
"Don't be so sure," Riku said. She looked at Riku. "Rampardos isn't taking much damage." Dawn looked at Rampardos and saw Rampardos isn't even phased by Fire Spin.
"Rampardos! Zen Headbutt!" Roark ordered. Rampardos leaps right at Growlithe and lands a Zen Headbutt on the mark, knocking Growlithe out.
"Growlithe is unable to battle! Rampardos wins! The victory goes to the Gym Leader, Roark!" The referee announced. Lucas got on his knees as he had lost on the very first try.
"Shot down on the first try," Lucas groaned. He calls his Growlithe back and he heds on out.
"Lucas!" Roark called out, stopping Lucas from going further. "You raised your Pokémon well, but you lack something important and I suggest that you train hard for it. I will be awaiting for a rematch anytime." Lucas turned back around and he looked right at Sora and he nodded.
"Okay. I'll train hard for our next Gym battle. And I will win it," Lucas said.
Everyone all stepped outside as Lucas gets ready to train. Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, and the Digimon were getting ready to head to the next town as Riku, Naminé, Dawn, Eevee, and Azurill were staying to help Lucas of his training.
"You sure it's okay for us not to be here for your next training, Lucas?" Sora asked.
"I'm sure. Besides, I think I know why I lost I was trying to be like you, but the thing is, I'm not you. I should just train hard like I should have done in the first place. And I can promise you the next time we meet, I'll have that Gym Badge," Lucas said.
"If that's what you want, then I'm cool with it," Sora said.
"See ya," Lucas said.
With that said, Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, and the Digimon were going to make their way to the next town, either to Sora's next Gym battle or Kairi's next Contest.
