Episode 342: Mass Hip-Po-Sis!
A day has come since helping out Jaco get a better handle on Electric Type Pokémon. In the meantime, Sora and Kairi has exchanged all the Electric Type Pokémon on their team for Turtwig, Chimchar, Prinplup, Kubfu, Murkrow, Bidoof, Kricketune, Leafeon, Manaphy, and Phione.Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Riku, Naminé, Pikachu, Eevee, Angel, Meowth, Azurill, and the Digimon were finished with the lunch Kairi had made for everyone.
"Has everyone had enough to eat?" Sora asked.
"Pika," Pikachu replied.
"Staravia," Staravia added.
"Murkrow," Murkrow added.
"Okay, everyone, take five," Sora said, calling his Pokémon back after having their meal. Kairi did the same thing with her other Pokémon into their Pokéballs. As they took off for their journey, hey saw something on a cliff nearby.
"Hey, what is that up there?" Ventus asked.
"Isn't that a Pokémon?" Kairi asked.
"I think it is," Terra said.
The Pokémon they're looking at appears to be a small brown-yellow hippopotamus camouflage patterns who has a small body with big nostrils. It also has small nodules above its eyes along with a big mouth having large jaws. The eye parts has a brown patch. The Pokémon was scared out of its wits. The Pokémon looked right at the group.
"Oh no! If he falls, it'll be terrible!" Kairi gasped.
"It's a good thing we happen to find him," Sora said. "Hey up there! We'll get you down from there. Don't you worry!" The hippo-like Pokémon was scared despite it all. Palmon uses her Poison Ivy attack to tie Sora and lure him down to the cliff after getting up to get him off from there. Biyomon, Patamon, Hawkmon, or Tentomon would have gotten him off, but there was apossibility that they'll drop him when he struggles, also, even if they could Digivolve, they might scare him, so to prevent that, they had to get him off by doing the rescue. Sora heads on down to get the scared Pokémon off the cliff.
"Be careful, Sora," Kairi pleaded her boyfriend.
"I'll be okay, as long as Palmon keeps her cool," Sora said.
"I'll try to," Palmon said. She slips for a moment, making Sora fall. She regains her posture as she almost lets Sora fall.
"Palmon! What was that for?!" Sora exclaimed.
"Sorry!" Palmon apologized.
Sora reached the frightened Pokémon.
"Okay, little guy. It's okay," Sora said, reaching out his hand. The hippo-like Pokémon bit his hand. "Ouch! I know you're scared, but come on!"
"He's scared, Sora! You gotta try to calm him down, first!" Kairi said.
"You're right," Sora agreed. he looked up to Pikachu. "Hey, Pikachu! Gimmie a hand!"
"Pikachu!" Pikachu said, sliding down Palmon's vines to the Pokémon.
"How are you holding up, Palmon?" Sora asked.
"I'm okay for right now, but I might not be able to hold on for very long!" Palmon said. She wasn't kidding because she was starting to lose her grip again.
"You can trust him, buddy. Sora was only trying to help you." - Pikachu subtitle. The hippo-like Pokémon was hesitant, but he lets go of Sora's hand."You're in very good hands, I promise." - Pikachu subtitle.
"See? Pikachu's right. I'm here to help you. I can't do that if you don't let me," Sora said. The hippo-like Pokémon was hesitant, but he went into Sora's arms. "That's it. I got you." Sora said. "Okay, Palmon, pull us up!" Palmon does pull up Sora, Pikachu, and the Pokémon. "Here you go." Sora places the Pokémon on the ledge. "That wasn't so bad now, was it?" The hippo-llike Pokémon looked right at him. "Now, let's see what you are." Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned the Pokémon.
Hippopotas, the Hippo Pokémon
Type: Ground
It lives in arid places. Instead of perspiration, it expels grainy sand from its body. It enshrouds itself with sand to protect itself from germs. It does not enjoy getting wet.
"Hippopotas, huh? And you're a Ground Type," Sora said.
"Hippo," Hippopotas said.
"Wow, so that's a Hippopotas. This is the first time I have ever seen one up close," Riku said.
"How did he end up in that sticky situation?" Gomamon asked.
"Hippo, Hippo, Hippopotas, tas, potas, Hip, Hippo, Hippo," Hippopotas explained.
"Meowth, what's he saying?" Ventus asked.
"Hippopotas is saying that he was trying to get some fruit when he fell on the cliff's ledge," Meowth translated.
"What fruit?" Armadillomon asked.
"You think he means this?" Veemon asked. Hippopotas went to the fruit. "Hungry?" Hippopotas opened his mouth and Veemon places it into his mouth. "Ooh, what a big mouth you've got." Hippopotas shuts it and happily chews on it.
After a few minutes, they were going to take their leave again.
"We're going to be off, Hippopotas. Just be careful not falling down any cliffs," Sora said.
"It was nice meeting you," Kairi said.
The group took off to Hearthrome City for Sora's next gym battle and Kairi's next Contest.
"Pika, Pika," Pikachu said. Sora was concerned for what Pikachu is trying to tell him.
"What's up, Pikachu?" Sora asked his partner. They turned around and they saw Hippopotas coming towards them. Hippopotas was wagging his tail like a happy puppy.
"Hold on, you want come along with us?" Sora asked.
"Hippo, Hippo," Hippopotas said happily.
"You don't think Hippopotas wants to be your Pokémon, right?" Ventus asked.
"After the way he helped him in the first, I would think it makes sense," Naminé said.
"Aha!" A familiar voice bellowed, catching everyone's attention. They turned to see Rhonda and her camera crew showing up. "The missing Hippopotas has finally been discovered! Surviving alone in the wilderness for ages, only to be rescued by Sora 'Kingdom Hearts' Ketchum and Kairi, the Princess of Heart!" She gets conked in the face again. "OW! If you don't watch that mic, you're gonna be in the wilderness!"
"Sorry about that," Jack apologized.
"Rhonda from Sinnoh Now," Sora said.
"You know her?" Riku asked.
"Yeah we do. She did a recording of us doing a battle with twin trainers. Ryan and Bryan were their names," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"What was that you saying about a missing Hippopotas?" Terra asked.
"Good hearing! We're right in the middle of filming a documentary about Hippopotas, you see?" Rhonda explained.
"A documentary?" Aqua asked.
"Great hearing!" Rhonda said. "Hippopotas like to live in dry places and cover themselves in sand too. They usually travel together as a herd with the change of season, searching for the dry places they love. We were filming that very event when this came up. When we found this one got separated from the herd, we thought this a much better story."
"And now, everything's okay, right?" Sora asked.
"Hippo, Hippo," Hippopotas said.
"You have any idea where the Hippopotas heard is right now?" Hawkmon asked.
Rhonda checks the map, held by one of the crew members.
"If they're going the same way right here," She shows them the exact location. It was a dry area just like she explained.
"So, the best thing to do is to take Hippopotas back with the rest of his herd," Sora said.
"That's a great idea, Sora," Naminé said.
"It wouldn't be right to leave Hippopotas out here with who knows what's going to happen," Riku added.
"So, how about it? Wanna come with us and find your herd?" Sora asked.
"Hippo, Hippo!" Hippopotas said, wagging his tail happily.
"Come on, boys! Let's go!" Rhonda said. They all followed the group to the Hippopotas herd when suddenly, some fireballs struck in their path.
"What the?!" Sora exclaimed. A squad of Digimon has shown up in their way. They look like their bodies are made entirely out of flames. "Who are they?!"
"They're Meramon! Meramon are Digimon that have bodies made completely out of fire! They can burn you just by touching you!" Agumon explained.
"Blazing Flames!" One of the Meramon shouted, as he fires several small fireballs at the group.
"Spiral Twister!" Biyomon shouted. She blocked the attack from the living flame Digimon.
"We have time to mess with you hot heads!" Sora said.
"You're not going anywhere!" A familiar voice spoke. It belonged to Ogremon. He taps his club in his hand. "You're going have to get through us to get going."
"Not a problem, gap mouth! Lightning Paw!" Gatomon shouted as she lands a hit onto Ogremon. He lands on his back.
"Retreat!" Agumon called out as everyone all headed off. Ogremon gets back on his feet.
"Don't let them get away!" Ogremon shouted. The Meramon started to pursue them as Hippopotas sends out a bubble and it pops in the face of one of the Meramon. Hippopotas sends out another bubble right at Jack's face. The same with Meowth. A few moments later, Ogremon and the Meramon were searching for them. "Where could they ran off to?" A snore is heard. The Meramon that was struck by the bubble is sleeping soundly. "And wake him up!"
"We're trying to, sir!" One of the Meramon said.
"Try even harder! We can't blow it again!" Ogremon stated.
"Sounds to me that you already have," a familiar voice spoke. It was Devimon once again. "You had them right where you want them and you let them get away again."
"It wasn't my fault! It was these flames for brains! I don't know why we even brought them with us! They're just slowing us down!" Ogremon said.
"The Meramon came with us because they're the kind of Digimon that are too hot to handle. Also, I have recieved word that SkullKnightmon is in the real world with us," Devimon said.
"SkullKnightmon? Why would he come here?" Ogremon asked.
"He has his own plans obviously. I have received word that an Anomalocarimon under his services was defeated by Agumon's squad just a couple of days ago," Devimon said.
"Could have Myotismon sent him over to the real world?' Ogremon asked.
"An ignorant question. SkullKnightmon answers to no one, but himself. He will prove to be a much more of a nuisance than the Resistance could ever be. We must deal with him soon ," Devimon said.
"Does lord Myotismon know about this?" Ogremon asked.
"He has been informed. He is not the least bit pleased with this bit of news," Devimon said.
"How will we deal with SkullKnightmon? He is a dangerous enemy," Ogremon said.
"I know. I don't have a doubt that he will make his move against the human children soon enough. So, for now, me must observe and then attack him when he appears before us," Devimon said.
Over to Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Riku, Naminé, Pikachu, Eevee, Angel, Meowth, Azurill, and the Digimon, they continued on to find Hippopotas's herd. Meowth was getting drowsy from earlier. Gomamon notices it.
"Hey, Meowth, you okay? You seem tired," Gomamon pointed out.
"Me? Tired? No, I'm just having trouble keeping my peepers opened," Meowth said with a yawn.
"What's with Meowth? He looks like he's about to take a cat nap," Gatomon said.
"He's fine. He just got hit with Hippopotas's Yawn," Riku said.
"Eevee," Eevee said.
"Yawn?" Wormmon asked.
"Yawn is a Normal Type move that can anything that it comes in contact with dorwsy. The individual that got hit with it then falls right to sleep," Kairi explained as well.
"Eevee," Angel said. Everyone thought it was over when Tentomon saw something flying above them.
"Oh no! Another bad Digimon is flying above us!" Tentomon said. They all turned to see a Devidramon flying above, searching for something. And they all knew what it was.
"What is that thing?" Ventus asked.
"Devidramon! They're very bad news! And we'll be cut to ribbons if he sees us," Gabumon said.
"Hide!" Sora said.
None of them needed to be told twice. Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Riku, Naminé, Pikachu, Eevee, Angel, Meowth, Azurill, Hippopotas, and the Digimon hurriedly headed into the bushes to avoid being seen by the evil dragon Digimon. Devidramon looked left and right for them. He makes a landing close to where they were and searches the area for them.
"Were could those cowardly Resitance be hiding?" Devidramon asked. He looked all over for them. They kept quiet, knowing they'll be in so much trouble if he had found them. They would have been found if something unexpected happened. A needle of energy pierced Devidramon in the back and he dissolves into bits of data.
"You think he's gone?" Ventus asked.
"I don't know. Only one way to be sure," Sora said as he took a really big gulp. He knew it was risky, but he had to have a check. He hesitantly peeked his head out of the bushes. Much to his surprise and relief, Devidramon was nowhere to be seen. "The coast is clear." Everyone all came out to see he was gone.
"Where did he go?" Kairi asked.
"I don't know, but let's get a move on just in case he comes back," Sora said.
"I don't want to find out if he's going to come back or not," Patamon said.
"Me neither," Veemon said.
So, Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Riku, Naminé, Pikachu, Eevee, Angel, Meowth, Azurill, Hippopotas and the Digimon continued on with their mission. What they didn't know, it was SkullKnightmon who saved them from Devidramon. He wanted to deal with them himself, and he wasn't going to let Devimon nor Myotismon deal with them other than himself.
Over to Rhonda and her crew, Rhonda is angrily carrying Jack's microphone as Jack is sound asleep from Hippopotas's Yawn. One of the crew members had to carry him, but was having trouble keeping his balance because of his weight.
"Lovely," Rhonda said with a hint of sarcasm in her tone. "I yhought it couldn't get any worse. Hippopotas is gone, Jack's asleep, those fire things attacked, and on top of that I have to hold my own mic. So take that, Jack!" She smacks him in the face with the mic.
"not the mailroom. Sorry about that," Jack said in his sleep.
"Who asked you anyway? Move?" Rhonda said.
Over to Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Riku, Naminé, Pikachu, Eevee, Angel, Meowth, Azurill, and the Digimon, Meowith has woken up and they fill him in about a Devidramon coming to look for them.
"That was a close shave," Meowth said.
Just then, some Goblimon shows up right in front of them.
"Hold it right there!" One of the Goblimon said.
"Goblimon!" Agmon exclaimed.
"First Meramon and Ogremon and now you guys?" Sora groaned.
"Goblin Strike!" The Goblimon shouted as they summoned fireballs and threw them at the group.
"Lightning Paw!" Gatomon gave the Golblimon a punch in each one of them. Hippopotas gave the Goblimon a yawn in the face and they all got drowsy.
"Sleepy time," the Goblimon said, falling asleep.
"Good work on Yawn, Hippopotas. Let's get out of here before they wake up," Sora said. Everyone nodded as they headed off.
After giving the Golbimon the slip, they came across a wooden bridge over a river. Just then, an Airdramon came around and dove down at them.
"Not again!" Riku said.
"Wing Cutter!" Aridramon shouted as he fires blades of air at them. Hippopotas got blown away and fell in the water.
"Hippopotas!" Sora cried as he dove in after him. Tentomon sprung into action as he started to Digivolve.
"Tentomon Digivolve to... Kabuterimon!" Kabuterimon took to the air and headed towards Airdramon and rammed into him. Gomamon dove in the water to save Hippopotas and Sora.
"Here I come!" Gomamon said as he started to Digivolve. "Gomamon Digivolve to... Ikakkumon!" He lifted Sora and Hippopotas on his back. "All aboard!"
"Thanks for the save, Ikkakumon," Sora said.
Kabuterimon hurled Airdramon right onto the ground. Kabuterimon got into position to finish him off.
"Electro Shocker!" He hurls a ball of blue and purple electricity at Airdramon and it destroys him when it makes contact with him.
After dealing with Airdramon, Kairi dries Hippopotas off to get the water off of him.
"Hippopotas doesn't look so good," Ventus said.
"No wonder because Hippopotas got blown in the water. I will never forgive those Digimon for this!" Aqua stated.
"There's a Pokémon Center up ahead, so we should get Hippopotas fast," Terra said.
It didn't take long for the group to reach the Pokémon Center and for Nurse Joy to check on Hippopotas's condition.
"How's Hippopotas doing?" Kairi asked with concern.
"Much better. A nice long rest in lots of sand, along with the medicine, and things will be just fine," Nurse Joy said. Everyone was all relieved to hear that.
"That's great," Biyomon said.
"Pika," Pikachu agreed.
"Eevee," Angel said.
Hippopotas was placed in a small box of sand to help with the healing.
"Looks like it's all starting to work," Riku said.
"Hippopotas really loves to be in the sand," Naminé said.
"Azurill," Azurill said. Nurse Joy comes around to check on the patient.
"Good. Things are moving along," Nurse Joy said. "I hope we have enough sand to get rid of that water, though."
"If you need sand, I can dig some up," Armadillomon offered.
"Oh, that'll be just great," Nurse Joy said.
With that said, the Digimon set off to find the sand and bring it back to the Pokémon Center. Sora, Kairi, Riku, Naminé, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, and the Pokémon decided to stay and behind and tend to Hippopotas. They set off to find the dryest sand there is. Once they found the sand, Armadillomon started to dig up the sand as Veemon, Hawkmon, and Gabumon held the bag open. It didn't take long before the Digimon came back with the sand and gave it to Hippopotas to feel better.
"We're back!" Armadollomon said.
"We got lots of sand!" Agumon said.
"Wonderful!" Nurse Joy said. She poured the sand into the box and Hippopotas was feeling better by the minute.
On the very next morning, Hippopotas woke up and was feeling much better.
"How was that, Hippopotas?" Sora asked.
"Hippo, Hippo!" Hippopotas said.
"Well, I have to say that sand your friends brought back worked wonders," Nurse Joy said with a smile.
"I'm so glad," Kairi said. Nurse Joy places the Pokémon food down for him to eat up.
"Now you be sure to eat every bite," Nurse Joy said. Hippopotas started to eat the Pokémon food like he hasn't seen food for days. "Wow, that's the way." Hippopotas has wolfed down the entire bowl like a Munchlax. After eating a filling meal, Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Riku, Naminé, Pikachu, Eevee, Angel, Meowth, Azurill, and the Digimon got set to bring Hippopotas back with his herd.
"How much further are we now?" Ventus asked.
"We should be there soon enough, Ven. As long as we don't run into anymore unexpecting visitors," Terra said.
"How about us?" A familiar voice called out. A bunch of Meramon has appeared before them, laughing.
"Not you guys again!" Sora groaned.
"Yes, that's us! You got yourselves a fight on your hands!" Meramon said. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Prinplup! Go!" Sora called out as Prinplup came out to fight. "Use Bubble Beam!" Prinplup fires Bubble Beam and they struck the Meramon on the spot.
"Ouch! Water! We hate water!" The leading Mermon shouted.
"What's wrong, you scared of a wa-wa?" Sora taunted them.
"We'll teach you to taunt us!" The leading Meramon shouted as the rest of the Meramon banded together. "Fireball!" He sends out a fireball right at the group, but Hippopotas shoots out sand from his nostrils to block the fire. "Hey! My fireballs!"
"Now to take you care of you guys!" Gomamon said as he started to Digivolve. "Gomamon Digivolve to... Ikkakumon!" He stood before the fire Digimon as he was giving them an angry expression. "Okay, guys, it's time for you to cool off! Icicle Coat!" He sends out a small blizzard and the Meramon were taking more cold than they could handle.
"Now use your Hydro Pump!" Sora ordered. Prinplup fires Bubble Beam right at the Meramon, making them wet and cold, putting out the flames. The Meramon all had dark auras coming out from each one of them and vanishes. The Meramon all revert back to smaller versions of themselves.
"Hey, where are we?" One of the smaller Digimon asked.
"You think we were sleep walking?" Another one asked.
"It's okay, DemiMeramon. You guys were just dreaming and you ended up getting lost," Agumon said.
"Is that right? You know how to get home?" One of the DemiMeramon asked.
"Sorry, no," Agumon said.
"It's okay. We'll be off then," the first DrmiMeramon said, taking off.
"I find it hard to believe that those cute little guys could turn into those awful things," Kairi said.
"Same here," Naminé said.
After a few more minutes, they reached the dryest area they could find.
"So, you think we can find them soon enough?" Meowth asked.
"They should be around here somewhere," Riku said. He finds footprints in the sand. "There!" He points to the footprints.
"So we know the Hippopotas came this way," Sora said.
"Yeah, and it looks like they're fresh too," Terra said.
The group finally reached the area and spotted several Hippopotas in the sand. Some of them all had yellow where the spots were brown. Riku stated that those are females.
"So, this is the part where we say goodbye, Hippopotas," Sora said.
"Hippo," Hippopotas said sadly.
"Despite what we all went through since yesterday, we had a blast. Just be careful not to get seperated form your herd again," Sora said. The group were taking off. Hippopotas was really sad because he didn't want Sora to leave. Hippopotas ran right towards him.
"Popotas!" Hippopotas called out. Everyone stopped to see Hippopotas running after them.
"Hippopootas? What's the matter?" Sora asked.
"Potas, Hippo, Hippo," Hippopotas said.
"Hippopotas says he doesn't want to say goodbye to ya. So, he decided that he wants to be your Pokémon after what you did to protect him," Meowth said. Hippopotas nodded. Sora looked at the hippo Pokémon and saw how serious he was being.
"Okay, Hippopotas, I can let you hang with us," Sora said. "But, we'll make it official with a battle. How about it?" Hippopotas agreed and got ready to go. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it. "Go for it, Trutwig!" Turtwig came on out to battle. "Tackle!" Turtwig charges at Hippopotas with Tackle. Hippopotas response with Sand Attack and blinded Turtwig. "Razor Leaf!" Turtwig fires Razor Leaf only to miss his target. Hippopotas moves in with a bite and lands a good trong bite onto the tiny leaf Pokémon. Hippopotas lets go of Turtwig and send out Yawn to put Turtwig to sleep. Once the bubble made contact, Turtwig got sleepy. Sora calls back Turtwig and took out another Pokéball and threw it. "Kubfu! Go!" Kubfu came on out to battle. Hippopotas came at Kubfu with a Bite. "Fcus Punch!" Kubfu builds up its focus and lands a strong punch onto Hippopotas. The hippo Pokémon lands on his belly. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it at Hippopotas. Hippopotas flows inside and the Pokéball wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Sora's Pokémon Box activates and it asks him if he wants to keep Hippopotas with him. He chose to send the hippo Pokémon to Professor Oak's lab. "Welcome to the team, Hippopotas."
Now that Sora has another new Pokémon under his belt, Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Riku, Naminé, Pikachu, Eevee, Angel, Meowth, Azurill, and the Digimon continued on towards Hearthrome City for the couple to have their next challenges. And more adventures and misadventures are soon coming their way.
