Chapter 14

Hello guys! Yes, I know it has been a long time since I posted anything, and I apologies for that, life got in the way, but I didn't have that much inspiration anymore, but then I remember how much I love to write and decided to open up old files of my stories and decided to continue with some of them. Hopefully this means I can keep on uploading as well more frequently. I would really appreciate comments so don't hesitate to leave one at the end.

As always I hope you enjoy!

I think I know what the initials might stand for, who that person might be, someone who needed a spirit user that desperately, Victor Dashkov.

"Ask her if there are any personal notes or observations about Doru" I said to Lila as a story was forming in my head. Lila repeated the question to the receptionist who seemed to be a little confused but nonetheless complied with the order. Standing up she went to shuffle among what I assumed were patient charts coming back shortly with a relatively thick one. Flipping through the pages she stopped on one and said. "It says here that the patient was really erratic, at times violent but he got two visits about a week before he got released where the doctor noticed he was much more calmed and controlled. Both times by the same man, his brother, according to the logins same initials, but there is no record of this in the system." The woman was growing more agitated and something was telling me that Lila's compulsion was about to run out.

"Tell her to forget what she has done and what she has told us and to go back to work." With that, we left, we had what we needed.

Of course, it was a great leap to take to just assume that Victor might be behind it, but the timing was accurate, especially considering that Victor Dashkov, formerly Prince Dashkov had kidnapped Lissa a few months back to use her as his personal spirit user to cure him of a rare genetic disease that was killing him. Of course, after he got caught and went to trial he was sentenced to a life in prison and last I'd heard he was still serving time there. Still, it was worth checking into this possible lead so we called Christian to have them meet up with us back at the hotel. There was also the other issue that Lila had been able to compel someone even though she was now a dhampir

, or at least that is what she seemed to be now.

But first, we had to figure out how to get into Tarasov and check that in fact Victor had escaped.

It was really weird that something like that would not have appeared in the news or that it hadn't reached court so if he had escaped there was a major cover up happening.

Taking out my phone out of my coat pocket I quickly dialed Lissa's phone, which she picked up after only one ring. "We need to get to Tarasov, and find out if Victor is there or not." I finished explaining to her.

"Dimitri are you sure about this? I mean, I don't want to be rude but all you have to go off on this lead are some initials on a hospital record." Lissa responded sounding concerned.

"Right now it is the only lead we have." I said.

"How are we even going to get into that place? We can't really explain the reason why we want to know if Victor has escaped."

"I may have a way." I thought thinking about who I knew that was working at Tarasov and who I could ask to pull some strings to get at least one of us in. "The biggest problem will be how to get there." Keeping up the private jet flights was going to be really expensive.

"Let me worry about that." Lissa responded taking off her self-phone and dialing in a phone number. "Where are we going?"

"Alaska".

RPOV

"Shit." I said after taking my hand away (for the 5th time) from one ray of sun that peeked through from the curtains and onto the table next to the bed I was currently lying in while I waited everyone else to return. I don't know why I kept doing it over and over again, kept putting my hand to the sun, only to have it burn again. It didn't burst in flames or anything like that, yet. I knew that strigoi got burnt from sunlight, which is why they couldn't go out in the sun, but just a few seconds in the sun and my hand became pink and warm and it hurt. I probably would have had 3rd degree burns by now if I didn't have super rapid healing abilities. I was getting worse, and fast.

Okay, just calm down. I mentally scolded myself, trying to reign my emotions in. As I was rapidly realizing, the worse my emotions got, the harder it was to remain myself, and the easier it was for the monster to come out.

Hopefully Dimitri and the others were having luck finding out a way to help me before it got too late.

LPOV (Lissa's POV)

"Yes sir, I understand but… okay, but if you could just…" I was growing anxious with every passing minute as Dimitri continued to argue with the guards at Tarasov who kept on making excuses and asking for explanations as to why on earth would we want to confirm if Viktor Dashkov was still in prison. "Thank you sir, goodbye." Dimitri finally said as he hung up the phone and put it back on his pocket after which he combed his fingers to put his hair back.

I could not resist the urge to know so I practically yelled. "So?"

"My contacts put me through all the way to the head guardian but he refused to let us in, no matter the reason." He said looking more than a little bit frustrated.

"Then what are we supposed to do now?" Asked Christian who had just entered the room as he had gone to check up on Rose who was on the other room. We wanted to make sure we had a solid plan before we went to tell her about it.

"So we are still going, something is really sketchy about those guards, and Victor still seems like the best lead we have on finding Doru.

"How do you plan on getting past all of those Guardians?" Lila inquired.

"Don't worry about that, I have a plan."
