Episode 344: Absolutely Fantina!
After finally arriving in Hearthrome City, it was the time for both of Sora's third Gym battle and Kairi's third Contest. Sora exchanged Buizel for the Galarian Linoone and do some last minute training.
Just when Sora was getting some training done, he was approached by Marian.
"Excuse me. Sora Ketchum, right?" Marian asked.
"Yeah, that's me. Why?" Sora asked.
"Well, I was looking for someone to be a judge. A little birdy told me that you were heading this way for a Gym battle. A member of the Sinnoh Elite Four was unavailable, so I figured I would ask. And the Hearthrome Gym Leader will be a judge in the Contest," Marian said.
Sora thought for a moment, he wasn't sure if he should, but this is a chance to get to challange the Gym Leader to a battle. But the problem is Kairi is taking part of the Contest, but he had to consider it.
"I'll have to think about it," Sora said.
"Take your time," Marian said.
Over to the Pokémon Center, Sora met up with hs girlfriend.
"Marian wants you to be the judge?" Kairi asked.
"Yeah. Fantina is going to be a judge at the Contest. And I'm not sure if I should," Sora said.
"I appreciate your concern. I know you'll root for me, no matter what. But you shouldn't your personal feelings get in the way," Kairi said.
"I'll try not to, Kairi," Sora said.
"And go for it. And I promise I won't be mad about your decision," Kairi said.
After that little tak, Sora went to find Marian and it wasn't so hard since she was with Contesta and Suziko.
"Made up your mind, Sora?" Marian asked.
"I did. I decided to take your offer on as a judge," Sora said.
"Glad to hear it," Marian said. THe fourth judge should be here soon. And what perfect timing, the fouth judge has arrived. The fourth judge tall woman, who has purple eyes and hair, which is tied into four balloon-shaped pigtails. She wore a long purple dress, which is accented by white dots, and has a yellow X mark on her hip. She also wore white gloves, a white muffler and purple heels. "Fantina, you've arrived."
"Oui, mon ami. I would not miss this for anything. I have just concluded a battle with a challenger. And such an entertaining challenger he was," Fantina said. She notices Sora with the other two judges. "Are we allowing children to take part?"
"This boy is Sora Ketchum. He's a Pokémon League champion," Mr. Contesta said.
"Is that so?" Fantina asked..
"Yeah. I was going to ask you for a Gym battle right after the Contest," Sora said.
"Is that so? Then as a Gym Leader I shall accept. It'll be one more before I take off to judge more Contests," Fantina said. Both Sora and Fantina held a handshake, promising each other a good battle.
Over to Kairi and Angel, she walked down she spots Nando sitting quietly.
"Nando. Funny running into you here," Kaiir said. The bard notices Kairi with a smile.
"Kairi, how wonderful to see you again. How is your journey progressing?" Nando asked.
"Great. I still have my two Contest Ribbons. How about you?" Kairi asked.
"I have now two Gym Badges and two Contest Ribbons. May I presume Sora is here as well?" Nando asked.
"Yes. I just heard Fantina is here as a judge for the contest and as a the Gym Leader. Also, he'll be a judge as well," Kairi said. "And it'll be my first Double Performance."
"I see," Nando said.
Naminé came looking for Kairi.
"There you are, Kairi. I was looking for you," Naminé said. "Oh, someone you know?"
"Yes. This is Nando. Nando, I would like to introduce you to Naminé. She and her boyfriend are friends of ours," Kairi introduced.
"A pleasure, miss Naminé," Nando greeted.
"You too," Naminé said. "I hope I'm not interruppting," Naminé said.
"Not at all," Kairi said. "I was going to teach you how to make Poffins for Azurill." She turned to the bard. "It was good seeing you again."
"I share your view, Kairi," Nando said.
Kairi left with Naminé to teach her to make Poffins. Nando has left to retieve his Pokémon from Nurse Joy. Sora went to find his friends when he saw a poster on the wall of the Pokémon Center. He saw it was a Pokémon tag battle tournament.
"The Hearthrome Tag Battle Tournament? And it's going on in a few days," Sora said.
"Great minds think alike," Riku said. He walked up to Sora. Thinking of entering it?" Riku asked.
"Yeah, but it's best it'll be after my Gym battle," Sora said.
"Thought you'd say that," Riku said.
Elsewhere, Guilmon, Terriermon, Lopmon, Renamon, Gaomon, and Lalamon were wondering the streets of Hearthrome City when Guilmon caught a whiff of something.
"I smell something," Guilmon said.
"What is it?" Gaomon asked.
"I think I smell," Guilmon paused as he took another whiff. He inhaled as he took a very big sniff. Then he knew what he was smelling. "It's Agumon!" Terriermon, Lopmon, Renamon, Gaomon, and Lalamon were shocked by what he announced.
"Agumon? You sure?" Lalamon asked.
"There's no mistaking it! I know it's him!" Guilmon said. He led the other Digimon to where the smell was coming from. The scent was getting stronger the further they went.
Over to the Contest hall, Kairi had just finished registering for the Pokémon Contest when she spotted Dawn and Zoey.
"Kairi, hey! Haven't seen you in a while," Dawn said.
"Same to you two," Kairi said.
"So, you perfected that dance routine with your Illumise and Volbeat?" Zoey asked.
"I have. And what about you, two?" Kairi asked. "Or should I be surprised?"
"Oh, I have my own personal idea for the second round," Dawn said.
"Also, did you run into Nando yet?" Kairi asked.
"We did. Of course, Nando really needs to make up his mind," Zoey said.
"Anyway, I just want to wish you both luck in the Contest tomorrow," Kairi said.
"You too, Kairi," Zoey said.
Back to Guilmon, Terriermon, Renamon, Lopmon, Gaomon, and Lalamon, they finally made it to the Pokémon Center and the scent where Agumon and the others are at. The four Digimon walk inside to follow the scent. They pass the patrons in the Pokémon Center as they recieve odd looks.
Inside the room the Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Riku, Naminé, Pikachu, Eevee, Angel, Meowth, Azurill, and the Digimon were staying in, Agumon was taking a nap when he caught a whiff of something in the air.
"That is oddly familiar," Agumon said. The door opens as the Digimon all stare at one another. "Guilmon?"
"Agumon!" Guilmon said happily, picking him up in his arms. "Jijimon was right!"
"How did you get here?" Agumon asked.
"We got here though a Digital Gate. Leomon sent us over after hearing Devimon was here," Lopmon said.
"Not just him, but Ogremon as well. Also Vorvomon and the Dracomon Brothers," Veemon added.
"Those guys? That can't be good," Terriermon said.
"Sora and the other should meet you. I'm sure he'll like you guys," Agumon said.
As night came, Sora and the rest were surprised to meet Guilmon and the others for the first time. He had to admit, it was nice to meet Digimon that weren't so bad other than Agumon and the others.
"So, Guilmon. You finally found Agumon and the others. Just how are you going to get back?" Sora asked.
"Jijimon didn't say," Guilmon said.
"So, we're just as stuck here," Terriermon said.
"Anyway, just as long you're here, you gonna watch the Pokémon Contest?" Sora asked.
"Pokémon Contest?" Lopmon asked.
"It's an event that showcases a Pokémon's talent," Agumon said.
"Kairi is taking part of it," Palmon said.
"And she got a couple of Ribbons," Gomamon added.
"It sounds like fun to watch," Lalamon said.
"As log as no evil Digimon attacks, we'll be okay," Gaomon said.
"I'll be happy to know that I'll have your support," Kairi said.
"Yeah!" All of the Digimon all said.
"Guilmon, shouldn't you give them the Digidexes?" Renamon asked.
"Right," Guilmon said. He handed them all a Digidex each.
"A Digi.. dex?" Ventus asked.
"It will identify any Digimon you come across," Renamon said.
"Cool," Ventus said.
"These will come in handy," Aqua said.
The Contest has come as Sora and Fantina joins the other judges for the Contest to officially begin. Spiritually, Sora was rooting for Kairi no matter what, but he had to remember his duty as a judge.
"People and Pokémon connecting side by side, creating all kinds of emotions! Ladies and gentlemen! The magic moment you've all been waiting for! And that moment takes place in the Hearthrome Stadium right here and now!" Marian announced. The crowd all cheer hard for the Contest to about to begin. "For our first round, Coordinators will use two Pokémon in an exciting Double Performance. With the second round, a double battle! It's beauty times two! Battling times two! Double the fun, no matter how you slice it!" Marian holds out the Heartrome City Contest Ribbon. "And here is what our Coordinators will compete for! The Hearthrome Ribbon, and add to the chance to enter the Grand Festival! What do you think of that?" The crowd cheers on again. "And now, it's time to hear a few words from our panel of judges! Mr. Contesta, the head of our Contest Committe!"
"Thanks! A real pleasure! I trust you're as excited to see these Double Performances as I am!" Contesta announced.
"Next is the head of the Pokémon Fan Club, Mr. Suziko!" Marian announced.
"Heartthrome City is remarkable!" Mr. Suziko announced.
"Nest is our local Gym Leader, Fantina!" Marian announced.
"One Coordinator and two Pokémon! It should be very magnifique!" Fantina announced.
"And finally, another special guest judge joining us here is Pokémon League Champion of Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn: Sora Ketchum!" Marian announced.
"Thank you very much! This the first time seeing a Double Performance for myself! Can't wait to see what combos these Coordinators and Pokémon will be cooking up!" Sora announced. The crowd cheers on. The local girls were all cheering as they were swooning over Sora.
"All right then, let's get started!" Marian announced. "Now, it's time for the first round! The Double Performance! And our first entry: Nando!" Nando makes his appearence on stage as he took out two Pokéballs and threw them.
"Sunflora and Kricketune, make your mark!" Nando called out as he unleased his Pokémon, coming out of their Pokéballs with musical notes coming out.
"And the fresh and exciting Swords Dance has the crowd in hushed awe!" Marian announced.
"Sunflora, Grass Whistle! Sing, Kricketune!" Nando ordered. Sunflora and Kricketune performs their song as Nando plays his harp. They let out such beautiful music as they played.
"Ah, words cannot begin to describe what's happening. So let's all just listen to this beautiful music and ourselves in its spell," Marian announced. Everyone was smiling as they listened to the beautiful music being played. The Digimon were all captivated as well.
"The crowd loves it," Ventus said.
"It's so soothing," Biyomon said.
"Nando is good," Riku said.
Once Nando has finished, he bowed his head as well as Sunflora and Kricketune. Everyone applauds.
"And thank you, Nando! Now, to our judges!" Marian announced.
"Truly incredible! A performance that moved me from the bottom of my heart!" Contesta said.
"Remarkable!" Suziko said.
"The timing between Pokémon and Coordinator was perfect!" Fantina said.
"Grass Whislte and Sing worked perfectly together. Well trained," Sora said.
"Now! Time for our next entry!" Marian announced. Other performances has gone on as Coordinators has shown off two Pokémon each.
"Now, time for our next entry! We have Kairi!" Marian annouced as Kairi has entered the stage with two Pokéballs in hand.
"Come on out, Volbeat and Illumise!" Kairi called out as the two firefly Pokémon came out with hearts going around.
"Are you ready to dance?" Kairi asked.
"And now, Volbeat and Illumise shall do a dance to a song playing in the background!" Marian announced as Volbeat and Illumise has both taken a bow as the music has started.
"Tango Quick Attack!" Kairi ordered. Volbeat and Illumise both use Quick Attack and they do it as a tango.
"Kairi starts things up with Volbeat and Illumise using Quick Attack. It's in the form a tango!" Marian announced.
"Now use Signal Beam while doing a twirl!" Kairi ordered. Volbeat and Illumise use their Signal Beams as they were doing a spin. The Signal Beam created a stunning whirl. It was an amazing sight to see. Everyone were awestruck to the beauty to the Signal Beam.
"Isn't that the most beautiful use of Signal Beam you have ever seen?" Marian asked.
"Now! Flash!" Kairi ordered. Volbeat and Illumise performed Flash as their Signal Beam has vaporated.
"Very wonderful! Flash tops it off to a stunning performance! Now for our judges!" Marian announced.
"Using Quick Attack in the form of a tango is very creative!" Contesta announced.
"Remarkable!" Suziko added.
"The music used during the Double Performance was suitable for Volbeat and Illumise. It created a romantic atmosphere!" Fantina announced.
"She's put loads of work into that one! I couldn't look away," Sora stated his opinion. Kairi smiled and he smiled back at her.
"And now, it's time for our next Coordinator! Dawn!" Marian announced. Dawn comes on stage for her Double Performance. She stood on stage with her eyes closed. She opens both eyes.
"I'm ready," Dawn said to herself. She readied her Pokéballs. "Piplup! Pachirisu! Spotlight!" She threw them both as hey both came out through confetti. Pachirisu landed on its tail as Piplup did a little stance. "Now, Pahirishu! Sweet Kiss!" Pachirisu sends out some hearts. "Piplup! Use Bubble Beam!" Piplup fires Bubble Beam right at the hearts, engulfing them inside the bubbles. "Yes!"
"That was great!" Ventus said.
"The timing was perfect!" Riku said.
Kairi had just come backstage as she watches along with Zoey and Nando. The both of them had smiles on their faces.
"Let's finish this up! Pachirisu! Discharge! Piplup! Whirlpool!" Dawn ordered. Pachirisu began with its Discharge attack as Piplup forms a huge Whirlpool. The combination of water and electricity was fantastic. Both attacks has vaporated as Dawn was proud to see her performance completed. "Our first Double Performance! You guys were awesome!"
"What a thrill to see an Electric Type and Water Type work well together!" Marian announced.
"Dawn's performance showed off her Pokémon's power in quite a stunning manner!" Contesta announced.
"Agreed! Remarkable!" Suziko added.
"The combination of Sweet Kiss and Bubble Beam is something I will not forget for a long time!" Fantina said.
"That Discharge and Whirlpool combo was an awesome thing to see!" Sora added.
In Twin Leaf Town, Johanna was watching on TV and she looked down to the ground. She wasn't so sure for some reason.
"All right then! The excitement continues with Zoey!" Marian announced. Zoey came on the stage with her two Pokéballs ready to go.
"Shellos! Glameow! Curtain!" Zoey called out as she threw both of her Pokéballs. They came out with beams of light emerging from the Pokéballs as Glameow and Shellos both came on out. "Now, Shellos, use Mud Bomb!" Shellos fires Mud Bomb right at the in the air. "And Glameow! Iron Tail!" Glameow smacks the Mud Bomb with Iron Tail. "Now, Secret Power!" Glameow's body glows pink and it releases a pink wave from its body all around it.
"What's that?" Guilmon asked.
"It's Secret Power. And it's a great move depending on the environment. Secret can create a paralyzing effect," Terra said.
"Glameow! Use Shadow Claw!" Zoey ordered. Glameow jumped in the air and its claws emits a shadow aura. Glameow swipes its claws as it absorbs Secret Power.
"Wow! Shadow Claw has absorbed the Secret Power and is giving off a dazzling light. Gorgeous!" Marian announced.
"Now Shellos! Water Pulse, let's go!" Zoey ordered. Shellos fires Water Pulse as it twirls around Glameow. "It's your turn, Glameow!" Glameow slices through the water and it splits, and the whole stage has sparkled. The crowd goes wild as they had finished.
"Glameow and Shellos's sharp and bold movements had me riveted in my seat, and held me transfixed until the dramatic finish!" Contesta announced.
"And remarkable!" Suziko added.
"The way her Pokémon shone, their precision moves, and the sense of completion were just marvelous!" Fantina stated.
"Agreed with all three! There's no doubt Zoey has worked hard with those moves. Well trained," Sora concluded.
"And that's it! The end to our super exciting premlinary round! So hold tight. The reslts will be presented in just a sec!" Marian announced.
Once the first round was over with, Kairi, Dawn, Zoey, and Nando congratulated each other for the stunts they done.
"That was good out there, Dawn," Kairi said.
"Thanks. That stunt with your Volbeat and Illumise was very awesome. And it was beautiful as well," Dawn said.
"Thanks," Kairi said. She turned to Zoey and Nando. "And you two did good as well."
"Thanks a lot, Kairi," Zoey said.
"And now, the moment you've all been waiting for! Here are the eight Coordinators who;ve made it through!" Marian announced. Everyone was anxious to see who made it to the final round. "These eight lucky contestants have so impressed our judges with their Double Performances that they're going on to be part of Round Two, the exciting double battle!" The Coordinators waited to see who has made it through. Nando and Zoey has made it in to the finals. As it turns out Kairi has made it to the final eight and Dawn has not. Dawn's heart has sank. Kairi felt sorry for Dawn since she worked so hard to make it in. Johanna was watching on TV and she shuts her eyes.
"These sorts of things happen," Johanna said.
"Dawn, I'm sorry," Kairi said.
"It's fine. Don't apologize," Dawn said.
"Dawn," Kairi said.
"I SAID IT'S FINE!" Dawn snapped at her. She realized she was taking it out on Kairi when she was trying to help her. "Sorry." Dawn got on her feet and started to run off. Nando was having his battle first against another Coordinator as Kairi was having his after Nando and Zoey was having her battle after hers. Dawn let out a loud yell of anguish. The whole city has echoed in her scream. Nando was battling with his Kricketune and Roselia against a Butterfree and a Beautifly. Kairi was using Manaphy and Phione against a Cacturne and a Dustox. And Zoey battled against a Solrock and Lunatone using Misdreavus and Glameow. It was now the quarter finals as Kairi is up against Nando.
"Up next is Nando and Kairi! Now, we'll be in for a real treat!" Marian announced. Kairi and Nando readied their Pokéballs and threw them.
"Kricketune and Roselia! Go!" Nando called out.
"Manaphy! Phione! Go!" Kairi called out as Manaphy and Phione both entered the battlefield.The clock starts running.
"Kricketune, begin with Sing!" Nando ordered as he sang. Kricketune begins by putting its scythes together and rubs them against each other. Then, its body starts to glow white and golden music notes come out of its body at Manaphy and Phione.
"Manaphy! Bubble Beam!" Kairi ordered. Manaphy fires Bubble Beam and it blocks out Kricketune's Sing.
"A beautiful block with Bubble Beam!" Marian announced.
"Roselia! Use Petal Dance!" Nando ordered as he sang again.
"Phione! Icy Wind!" Kairi ordered. Phione blew a cold wind right at the flower petals, freezing them. "Now, use Surf! Manaphy, you use Ice Beam!" Phione began by using Surf and Manaphy fires Ice Beam onto Roselia. Surf comes on down at Kricketune and Roselia. Nando has lost some points in the process.
"Kairi is making good work of her Water and Ice Type attacks!" Marian announced.
"Magical Leaf!" Nando ordered as Roselia has fired Magical Leaf right at the two Pokémon.
"Ice Beam again, Manaphy!" Kairi ordered. Manaphy does a twirl and fires Ice Beam and it freezes the leaves. Nando has lost some additional points.
Over to Dawn, she had changed back into her regular clothes and brushes her hair. She steps outside and sees Kairi on the screen. Nando was making a comeback onto her. Kairi and Nando had some little points left. And there was less than two minutes left.
"X-Scissor!" Nando ordered.
"Bubble Beam, the both of you!" Kairi ordered. Both of Manaphy and Phione perform a double Bubble Beam and the attacks traps them both inside. "Ice Beam and Icy Wind!" Manaphy and Phione fires Ice Beam and Icy Wind and it freezes the bubbles and creates sparkles as Kricketune and Roselia had both been taken down.
"And Kairi moves on in the final round!" Marian announced.
Once Kairi and Nando had their battle, she spots Dawn and she went up to her.
"Dawn, I'm so sorry about what happened. I thought for sure you were going to make it in," Kairi said.
"So did I. I worked so hard to get here," Dawn said.
"You'll make it in on your next Contest," Kairi assured her.
"You sure you're not saying that just because your boyfriend is one of the judges?" Dawn asked.
"That has nothing to do with it, Dawn," Kairi said. "You'll do fine in the next Contest."
"Promise?" Dawn asked.
"I promise. Just don't blame me if it happens again," Kairi said.
"I'll try not to," Dawn said.
It was now the final round of the Hearthrome City Pokémon Contest as Kairi and Zoey were on stage once again.
"Now, it's the moment that you've all been waiting for! Zoey and Kairi! Only one of them is going to win the Hearthrome Ribbon and get one step closer to the Grand Festival!" Marian announced.
"Here they are again," Agumon said.
"Now, Kairi and Zoey against each other again," Ventus said.
"Now, let's begin!" Marian announced as the clock starts running.
"It won't be the same as the last time! Glameow! Shadow Claw! Misdreavus! Shock Wave!" Zoey ordered. Glameow heads right towards Manaphy and Phione as Glameow's claw has a combo of Shadow Claw and Shock Wave.
"Zoey starts off with a Shocking Shadow Claw; literally!" Marian announced.
"Dodge and use Bubble Beam and Ice Beam!" Kairi ordered. Phione uses Bubble Beam and Manaphy uses Ice Beam as they go as Ice Beam and lands a hit onto Glameow. Zoey has lost some points.
"And Kairi blocks with a combination of Ice Beam and Bubble Beam!" Marian announced.
"Misdreavus! Double Team!" Zoey ordered. Misdreavus makes several copies of itself. "Now, use Shock Wave!" Misdreavus and the duplicates fires Shock Wave and struck both of Manaphy and Phione, causing Kairi to lose some points.
"Misdreavus sends out a stunning Shock Wave and now Kairi's points suffers for it!" Marian announced. Misdreavus kept firing Shock Wave at both of Kairi's Pokémon as her points goes down even more and more.
"Glameow! Shadow Claw!" Zoey ordered. Glameow comes at Manaphy with Shadow Claw.
"Manaphy! Use Water Pulse!" Kairi ordered. Manaphy forms a ball of water and hurls it right at Glameow.
"Phione! Icy Wind all around!" Kairi ordered. Phione spins around ad unleashes Icy WInd as the air grew colder by the minute. Misdreacus got so cold, it dropped the Double Team trick. Glameow got cold from Icy Wind as well.
"I'm getting the chills from this! Phione has found Misdreavus by unleashing Icy Wind all over the place!" Marian announced.
"Manaphy! Water Pulse! Phione! Icy Wind at the same time!" Kairi ordered. Manaphy and Phione peforms both of Water Pulse and Icy Wind. Both attacks mix so well together and it struck both of Glameow and Midreavus. Zoey has lost some points. Glameow and Misdreavus were both unable to battle.
"And that's it! Kairi has won the double battle and the Hearthrome City Pokémon Contest!" Marian announced. Everyone applauds for her along with the judges, especially Sora. He was very proud of his girlfriend as she was presented the Ribbon for her victory. "Congratulations, Kairi! And that concludes the Hearthrome City Pokémon Contest, so be sure to join us again next year!" The crowd goes wild.
Over to the Pokémon Center, Sora was glad it was over and done with since being a judge was a difficult thing to do.
"So, how was it, being a judge?" Kairi asked.
"It was no walk in the park, I can tell you. How did Dawn take it?" Sora asked.
"She didn't take it so well at first. She worked so hard to get here," Kairi said.
"I know what you mean. I doubt May had this kind of trouble," Sora said. "And I know you didn't either."
"I know. She'll be just fine," Kairi said. "And now that I have my third Ribbon, that means you have your third Gym battle."
"Sure do. Stunky, Linoone, and Murkrow are more than ready for the upcoming battle," Sora said.
"I'll root for you," Kairi said.
"I know you will," Sora said.
On the very next morning, Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Riku, Naminé, Pikachu, Eevee, Angel, Meowth, Azurill, and the Digimon all arrived in the Hearthrome City Gym as they were joined by Dawn and Zoey.
"Zoey? Dawn? What brings you here?" Sora asked.
"We came to cheer you on, Sora. I figured you could use the support," Dawn said.
"Glad to hear it," Sora said. The group stepped inside as Fantina was waiting for him.
"Welcome, challenger. I have been expecting you," Fantina said.
"I'm ready for anything you can throw at me, Fantina," Sora said. She spots Kairi, Dawn, and Zoey with them.
"I know you. You were at the Contest yesterday," Fantina said.
"We're here to support him," Zoey said.
"You are all welcomed here. But this will be no walk in the park, as you will find out," Fantina said.
Both the Gym Leader and the challenger took their places on the opposite side of the battlefield as the referee steps for the battle to begin.
"The battle here in the Hearthrome City Gym is about to begin! We have Fantina, the Gym Leader, and Sora, from Pallet Town! Both trainers will be using three Pokémon each! Only the challenger will be permitted to make substitutions anytime! The battle is also over when all three of either Pokémon is unable to continue to battle! Choose your Pokémon and begin!" The referee announced. Fantina took out her first Pokéball and threw it.
"Gengar! Battle position!" Fantina called out as her Gengar came on out to battle. Sora took out his first Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Murkrow!" Sora called out as Murkrow came out to battle.
"Sora's starting off with a Murkrow. That's a smart move on his part," Zoey said.
"Why's that?" Terriermon asked.
"Murkrow is a Dark Type Pokémon while Gengar is a Ghost Type Pokémon. And Dark Types has the advantage over Ghost Types," Riku said.
"Murkrow! Night Shade!" Sora ordered. Murkrow fires Night Shade right at Gengar.
"Gengar! Dodge it!" Fantina called out. Gengar avoids Murkrow's Night Shade.
"Murkrow! Wing Attack!" Sora called out.
"Gengar! Dodge and use Poison Jab!" Fantina ordered. Gengar avoids Murkrow's Wing Attack and lands a Poison Jab onto Murkrow. The darkness Pokémon ends up getting poisoned by the attack. "Now use Shadow Punch!" Gengar unleashed Shadow Punch and lands a strong punch onto the crow-like Pokémon. Sora was shocked to see how powerful that Shadow Punch was.
"Murkrow! Haze!" Sora ordered. Murkrow flaps his wings and releases a thick, black smoke from them.
"So, you're using Haze to hide. There is no hiding place in here. Gengar! Shadow Punch again!" Gengar sends out another Shadow Punch and lands a successful blow onto Murkrow. "Poison Jab!" Gengar lands a strong Poison Jab onto Murkrow and he fell to the ground, beaten.
"Murkrow is unable to battle! Gengar wins!" The referee announced.
"Well done, Gengar, my little darling," Fantina praised.
"Gengar!" Gangar said proudly. Sora calls back his Murkrow.
"Get some rest. You've earned it," Sora said. He pulled another Pokéball and threw it. "Your turn, Linoone!" The Galarian Linoone came out to battle. Dawn and Zoey were stunned in seeing a Galarian Linoone for the first time.
"A Galarian Linnone! And I thought a Galarian Darumaka was something!" Zoey said.
"They got those from the Galar region, so you wouldn't find one of those here. Also, another good call for Sora since Linoone is a Dark Type and a Normal Type," Riku said.
"That's right! Shadow Punch will have no effect on him," Ventus said.
"This is the first time I have ever laid my eyes on a Galarian Linoone. Don't think that it'll make any difference against my Gengar. Poison Jab!" Fantina ordered. Gengar heads right towards Linoone to land a hit.
"Dodge and use Lick!" Sora ordered. Linoone avoids Gengar's Poison Jab alnd gave Gengar a lick. The shadow Pokémon was now paralyzed from the lick. "Now, use Shadow Claw!" Linoone swipes at Gengar with his claws, giving off a shaowy aura. Gengar had been taken down at last.
"Gengar is unable to battle! Linoone wins!" The referee announced. Fantian shrieked in horror as she has witnessed her Gengar has fallen victim to the Galarian Linoone.
"Impossible!" Fantina gasped.
"Good work, Linoone," Sora said.
"I have to admit, I have underestimated you, Sora. But it is not over just yet," Fantina said, calling back her Gengar and took out her next Pokéball. "Mismagius! Battle position!" Mismagius came on out to battle next. Sora calls back Linoone and took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Your turn now, Stunky!" Sora called out as Stunky came on out to battle.
"We shall see how you do well, Stunky," Fantina said.
"Stunky! Venoshok!" Sora ordered. Stunky fires Venoshock to strike at the magical Pokémon.
"Mismagius! Dodge and use Magical Leaf!" Fantina ordered. Mismagius avoids Venoshock and sends out Magical Leaf. The leaves all strike Stunky hard.
"That was a good clean hit," Terra said.
"Why didn't Stunky just dodge it?" Renamon asked.
"Magical Leaf can't be dodged," Aqua said.
"Mismagius! Mystical Fire!" Fantina ordered. Mismagius sends out Mystical Fire to strike Stunky.
"Dodge it, Stunky!" Sora called out. Stunky avoids Mismagius's Mystical Fire. "Now, use Venoshock!"Stunky sends out Venoshock and lands a hit onto Mismagius. "Now use Night Slash!" Stunky jumps and lands a Night Slash onto Mismagius.
"Magical Leaf!" Fantina ordered. Mismagius fires Magical Leaf right at Stunky.
"Venoshock!" Sora ordered. Venoshock blocks Magical Leaf successfully. Stunky unleashes a powerful stink all over the battlefield. Everyone covers their noses to keep out the stink.
"P-U!" Tentomon exclaimed.
"So stinky!" Meowth said.
"Phew! That stinks!" Sora said. He saw Mismagius was trying to keep out the stink. Sora got an idea.
"Stunky! Night Slash!" Sora ordered. Stunky jumps and lands a Night Slash into Mismagius. "Now, use Venoshock! Your strongest one!" Stunky lets ot his strongest Venoshock and lands a strong hit onto Mismagius. It was enough to knock it out.
"Mismagius is unable to battle! Stunky wins!" The referee announced.
"Two-to-one now," Agumon said. Just then, the windows opens and the stink was blown right out.
"Much better," everyone all said.
"That was incredible, Sora. Now, it is time for my third Pokémon," Fantina said, calling Mismagius. "Battle position, Drifblim!" She threw the Pokéball to let out a Pokémon that has a large, spherical, purple body with the lower quarter of its body being a lighter purple. The colors are separated by a repeated semicircle pattern all around its body. On the top of its head is a puffy, white mass, which closely resembles a cloud. In the center of its body is a large yellow "X" and on either side, just above the "X" are its small, red eyes. On the lower portion of its body are four long, thin arms that diagonally in four different directions. Its arms are tipped with yellow and have three short points each. The bottom of its body narrows into a short, red extrusion that fans slightly outward. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned the Pokémon.

It's drowzy in daytime, but flies off in the evening in big groups. No one knows where they go. It carries people and Pokémon when it flies. But since it only drifts, it can end up anywhere.
"A Drifblim," Sora said. He puts his Pokédex away. "You still good to go, Stunky?" Stunky nodded. "Great! Stunky! Night Slash!" Stunky jumped to land a hit onto it.
"Drifblim! Silver Wind!" Fantina ordered. Drifblim sends out Silver Wind. "Now, use Ominous Wind!" and struck the skunk Pokémon and was taken down.
"Stunky is unable to battle! Drifblim wins!" The referee announced.
"Now, both has one left to use," Ventus said.
"And we know what that one is," Naminé said. Sora took out his Pokéball and threw it.
"Linoone! Back to action!" Sora called out as he threw it. Linoone came back out to battle.
"Your Linoone may be a Normal Type Pokémon as well as a Dark Type Pokémon, but you will not find victory here. Drifblim! Silver Wind!" Fantina ordered. Drifblim sends out Silver Wind to land a hit onto Linoone.
"Dodge and use Shadow Claw!" Sora ordered. Linoone avoids Silver Wind and heads on closer to Drifblim. She chuckles.
"Drifblim, use Psychic on Silver Wind," Fantina ordered. Drifblim uses Psychic on Silver Wind, manipulating it and lands a hit onto Linoone. It causes such heavy damage onto Linoone.
"Linoone!" Sora called out. Linnone fell on his stomach, but then struggles to stand back up. Linoone lets out a loud cry as he started to evolve much to everyone's surprise.
"What's going on with Linoone?" Guilmon asked.
"Linoone's evolving!" Kairi said. The Galarian Linoone has now become an Obstagoon. The newly evolved Obstagoon dangles his tongue out of his mouth. Fantina was not expecting this turn of events.
"An Obstagoon in my Gym? Never have I seen such a thing!" Fantina said. "It matters not. It will still fall. Drifblim! Silver Wind!" Drifblim uses Silver Wind to blow the right at Obstagoon. Sora knew he had to learn a new move after evolving.
"Obstruct!" Sora ordered. Obstagoon avoids Silver Wind with the newly learned move. "Now use Shadow Claw!" Obstagoon jumps and lands a Shadow Claw right across its face. "Now, use Snarl!" Obstagoon unleashes a powerful Snarl as Drifblim goes down for the count. Drifblim tries to get up, but fell back on its back.
"Drifblim is unable to battle! Obstagoon wins! The winner is Sora Ketchum from Pallet Town!" The referee announced.
"Good work, Obstagoon!" Sora said.
"Pikachu!" Pikachu added. Fantina walked up to Sora with a smile.
"That was a wonderful battle, Sora. When I first saw you, I thought for certain, you were just a foolish boy, but I am pleased to say that I was wrong," Fantina said, taking out a badge. This badge is similar in appearance to a Will-o'-the-wisp or a ghostly aura. "The Relic Badge is yours." Sora takes his third Gym Badge.
"Thanks, Fantina. And I'll say that I had a good time battling you," Sora said. Fantina smiled back at him.
After the battle was over, everyone headed back for the Pokémon Center to have his Pokémon healed and to celebrate his win. Now, what was left to do is to take part of the Hearthrome Tag Battle Tournament. So, both Sora and Riku would have to train for that as soon as they have registered for it.
On the very next morning, Fantina had already left to judge some Pokémon Contests by leaving a note, telling any other challengers that she'll be gone for a while and to tell them not to look for her. Zoey also left to take part of more contests as well.
Since Sora had three Sinnoh Gym Badges under his belt, he now has five more to gain. And who will Sora be tagged with in the competition? Just you wait and see.
