Astro stared down at the man they had been going out of their way to track down. The son of Oberon, one of the most powerful beings in existence, and Nia's father.
Uran.
He definitely hadn't expected him to look like… this. He resembled more of a wild man than he did a powerful god. But Astro couldn't care less what he looked like. All he cared about was how he could help his sister. "Get up. We're going back right now, and you're going to meet and teach your daughter how to use her powers," Astro said glaring.
The man hummed and scratched his cheek. "Yeah… that's not happening."
Astro growled and walked over towards him. He reached out and grabbed the front of his shirt. "Look you deadbeat! I don't know why you were hiding from us, and I don't care! But if you're worried about Oberon that ship has sailed! He knows about her, and he's after her! She needs you to teach her how to-"
Uran cut him off. "I can't teach her anything. Not anything important anyway. I lost my powers," he said grabbing Astro's hands and pulling them off.
Astro looked at him confused. "W… what?"
Uran sighed and hung his head. "I don't know how much you know about all this, but I left for a reason. My father would have tracked me down and found her. So I left mewni and came back here," he said shrugging. "My dad found me, and then demanded I tell where Titania was. I said no, and then I ended up here."
The prince raised his eyebrow. "Ended up here? He banished you?" he asked. "Okay, I'm sorry to hear that. But that doesn't explain why you can't help us. You have to have sensed when Nia was here. Or at least when she turned into Titania. And why did you run from her? Why did you hide? What's the point of-?"
"He stripped me of my powers, kid," Uran said, cutting him off once again.
Astro grew wide eyed. "He… he took your powers?" he asked. "He can do that?" Oberon couldn't seriously be powerful enough to take another god's powers could he?
"Kid, I really don't think you know what you're up against. I appreciate you trying to help my daughter, but you're not going to get anything useful out of me. Go find Alex or something. He's powerful enough to show her the ropes," Uran said going back to his food.
Astro reached down and grabbed his wrist. "Okay, you don't have powers. But she still needs you. You're her father, and she's not exactly going through an easy time right now. Come back, show her what you can and tell her-"
"Tell her what?!" Uran asked, yanking his hand away. "Kid, I'm useless. There's nothing I can do for her. I'm not gonna show up just to sit by and watch when he takes her away. Besides, she handled her own against Cressida. She obviously doesn't need me."
Astro glared. "She can barely control herself! She's not even in control right now! And this is your daughter we're talking about! Are you seriously telling me you're just going to roll over and let someone take her away! You're not even going to try?!"
"It's better off this way…"
"It's better for you to be sitting in a cave instead of being a father to your kid?! Or a husband to your wife?! Are you kidding me?!" he Astro snapped.
Uran stood up and glared back at him. "Don't you try lecturing me kid! I'm over a thousand years old! Over a thousand years of practice and experience! You know how long all of that lasted against my father?! Like five minutes!" he said. "I did everything I could, and I barely even slowed him down. What am I supposed to do now?"
Astro clicked his tongue. "You could try being there," he said bluntly. He reached into his pocket and then pulled out his scissors before placing them down in front of him.
Uran looked down at the scissors, and then back up at Astro. "You really think my daughter is going to want to see me?" he asked with a scoff. "The father who abandoned her, the one who was supposed to be a god, now some powerless old fool."
"She doesn't just need your powers. She needs you," Astro said as he turned and began walking off. "When you get that through your head use those. They'll take you to Townsville."
Uran frowned. "I'm not using those kid…"
"Yeah, you are," Astro deadpanned before whistling. Sear suddenly came rushing into the prince. Astro got on his back and gave Uran one last look before taking off.
Uran looked after him, and then backed down at the scissors.
Titania stood in the front lawn of the Vanguard base looking annoyed. She had wanted to move around the city as she pleased, but the others had insisted she stay at the base. She hadn't planned on listening to them at first. No one had any right to tell her what to do. Especially not people who were so much weaker than her.
But then AJ had asked her to stay, and… it wasn't like he had any right to tell her what to do either, but she decided to pity him and just do what he asked just this once.
Still, she was bored out of her mind. There was nothing to do around here. Nothing besides spar with some of the others. If you called this sparring anyway.
"God damn it!"
Raleigh fired another stream of flames towards the girl. Titania casually waved her hand and a gust of wind came and blew the flames upwards and away from her. Raleigh growled and rushed at her, throwing a kick, but Titania once again waved her hand and sent him flying back.
"Seismic Kick!"
Titania looked up and saw Levi coming down towards her, foot raised and ready to deliver a drop kick. A twister suddenly formed around the girl, and Levi was slowed down and then blown back up into the air. He yelled before crashing back down to the ground, right next to Raleigh. She huffed and crossed her arms as the others in the Combat department looked on.
Cayenne was smirking and enjoying the show. She felt a bit sorry for Levi, but watching Raleigh get his ass kicked by someone half his size made her day. Amber looked a little concerned. Titania seemed like she was keeping herself in check, but she didn't want the girl going out of control again. The other members just looked impressed.
"I can't believe she's this strong," Opal said amazed. Nia had been able to more or less handle herself before, but she had never been considered one of the League's heavy hitters. Now she was just casually tossing two of their best members around like it was nothing. "Can we trade her for one of them?"
Raleigh and Levi both scowled, but Cayenne hummed. "I could see if I could work something out with Damian… nah, they're not gonna be any use to those guys. That's a total downgrade for them," she said chuckling.
"Fuck you Jojo!" Raleigh cursed getting back up to his feet.
Titania spoke up. "You shouldn't take it personally. Trading me for anyone would be nothing short of a downgrade," she said bluntly.
The others all looked towards her a bit surprised. It was still taking them some time to get used to this attitude. Nia was always such a sweet and nice girl. But Titania… almost every word that came from her mouth was dripping with arrogance. It was shocking to hear such haughty words coming from the mouth of the girl they knew so well.
"You're a cocky little shit, you know what?" Raleigh asked.
Titania hummed. "I guess when you're looking up at someone so much better than you it's hard not to see them as arrogant. But like I said, you shouldn't take it personally." She turned towards the others. "Is there anybody else who'd like to try. This is getting awfully boring. Of course I understand if nobody else wants to. You would be going against me after all."
Cayenne raised an eyebrow and for a moment looked like she was going to step forward, but Amber put a hand on her shoulder. "Please don't. Nothing good can come of it…" she said. The best case scenario would still probably end up with the base being totaled. The leader of the Combat Department sighed and decided to let it go.
The group suddenly heard something up above and glanced up to see Sear landing down with Astro. The prince hopped off the dragon's back and rubbed his head.
Cayenne scowled. "And just where the hell have you been?" she asked.
Sear turned his head and growled towards her. "Nowhere that concerns you," Astro said.
She grit her teeth. "Listen up ass-hat, Kingsley might be willing to let your bullshit slide, but I'm not. So you better stop with the whole mysterious loner routine before I beat your-"
"I take it Titania didn't cut loose," Astro said looking towards Amber.
"Don't you ignore me you fucker!"
Titania narrowed her eyes. "I don't need to be watched like I'm some child."
"You are a child," Astro said simply. "You might be a child with the powers of a god, but you're a child nonetheless." Titania narrowed her eyes at him, and the others took note of that fact that Astro's words still seemed to carry some weight with her.
Amber once again decided to cut in. "So, how did the search for Nia's father go?"
Astro blinked. "That's… complicated…"
"Is it really complicated, or are you perhaps hiding something again?" Titania asked.
The elder sibling stared down at her, and then sighed. "Alright, fine. I found him, but…" He wasn't really sure how she would react to him not wanting to see her. Nia he might have been able to read, but Titania? For all he knew she'd go on a rampage.
The girl crossed her arms and huffed. "Well, it really doesn't matter. I don't need him or anyone else to teach me. I'm already strong enough to deal with Oberon myself. In fact, I should just go to Avalon and take him down right now," she said.
Astro stepped in front of her. "Whoa! Hold on a second!" he said. "I know you're riding high on your power right now, but don't be reckless! Even if you could take on Oberon, you have to deal with the rest of his family too!"
"Then I'll just deal with them all."
Astro sighed and pinched his nose. "Nia… no, Titania. Please just think for a moment. If we're going to do this, we need to plan things out carefully."
"No, you need to plan things out carefully, because you're not strong enough to do otherwise. I can do whatever I want. Nia may let you boss her around, but I have no intention of listening to anyone who's weaker than me. And since that's everyone, I don't listen to anyone."
He grit his teeth as Cayenne chuckled. "Dayum, she just called you out ass-hat."
Astro stared down at her, but then let out a breath. "Okay Titania, fine. Maybe you could wrap everything up the way you are now. But just humor me and wait, okay?"
"Why should I?" she asked.
"I will buy you all the Chinese food you want?"
Titania's eyes widened for a moment, and then she glared. "D-do you honestly think you can bribe me with something as simple as mere human food?" she asked.
"You're drooling…" Astro said, pointing towards her mouth.
She turned her head away and wiped her mouth. "Quiet! I decided to pity you and accept your offer so you can buy me Chinese food!" she said, her wings fluttering rapidly.
"Aw, that's so cute! Her wings flutter when she's embarrassed!" Persi said.
Titania turned around to snap at the other blonde, but then suddenly her eyes widened. Astro seemed to sense something as well. "Shit…" Astro muttered. "It's Shen Mi…"
The others looked at him confused. "How do you know?" Micah asked.
"Because none of the other members of the YBA have magic relevant enough for us to sense," Titania said, smirking. "I'll go and handle her."
Astro held his hand up. "Hey, you have to stay here, remember?"
She huffed. "I'm not about to sit here and pass up the only chance I may have to get a bit exercise. Stand aside and let me go before-"
"I'll give you five stuff crust pizzas…"
Titania stared at him blankly. "…Okay, since you're being so stubborn about it I'll allow you to handle this for me," she said once again wiping her mouth.
Astro patted her head. "Thank you Titania. I'll be back soon." Mewberty form or not she was still his sister. And food was one thing she never passed up.
"I'll go with you," Ryu said, stepping forward. "Shen Mi might not be alone. And even if she isn't, she's not someone you should take on by yourself."
"I'll come too. Better safe than sorry," Micah added.
The prince hummed. "You're welcomed to come along if you want, but I don't think I should need any help," he said as he got on top of Sear.
Cayenne scowled. "So is being an arrogant prick just like a thing that runs in your whole damn family or what?" she asked annoyed.
"Can't help if my family is full of people who are amazing," he said before turning towards Ryu. "You riding with me or Micah?"
Ryu blushed and looked over towards Micah. "I… uh, I was just-"
"Micah, got it." With that Astro took off into the air on Sear.
Micah walked up beside Ryu and held his hand out. "Alright then, you ready?" he asked. Ryu's face was crimson, but he nodded and took his hand.
Margo Lucitor hummed as she finished loading the dishwasher. Today had honestly been a pretty peaceful day. Not events or meetings scheduled, Tom was spending the day with Isaac, and she had the entire house to herself.
She had spent the day just relaxing and watching some TV. She's also made herself a desert she had been wanting to try for a while. She put a good chunk of it away for herself, knowing that when Vera and Tom got home they would tear into it. Not to mention Isaac. Her little demon spawn could really put down some sweets.
A knock on the door broke her from her thoughts, and she looked up confused. She hadn't been expecting anyone to come by for a visit today.
She walked out of the kitchen and to the front door taking a peek. She looked a bit surprised when she spotted who was out front. She opened the door and looked down. "Oh, hello there. You're Nia's little friend right?" she asked.
AJ stood before her, his hands shoved in his pockets and looking down with a pout. "Hey, yeah. And you're Queen Margo right? You're supposed to be a total badass."
She clicked her tongue. This one had a bit of a mouth of him. "Uh… I guess some people have called me that, yes."
AJ reached up and scratched his head. "I… I need to learn how to fight," he said looking up at her. "I need somebody to teach me, and you're the only person I can think of…"
Margo looked at him surprised. "Oh…?"
