August 16th, 2012... Doesn't seem like much of a significant date, does it? Well, I was headed into my senior year, a few days from starting, when, struck by inspiration... I penned a certain scene from a certain fic and emailed it to a certain co-author for her opinion on it... Just two days prior, I'd already typed up the prologue and sent it along... Subject: This goes in there somewhere, but I'm not sure where, lol.
Without further ado, the original Diner Scene from Chapter Fourteen Stolen Miracles.
Another fun bit of info, we posted this fic on September 18th, 2012... but chapter fourteen was completed the same day that I sent this scene to V-ChanUzumakiLSSJ and is one of two chapters that were written solely by me, not counting the epilogues, the other one being chapter thirteen. This was my idea, as she constantly stated day in and out, but I like to give her credit anyway, because without her, it probably wouldn't have turned out as well as it did. She helped me get the rest of the fic fleshed out so I wouldn't have to let chapter fourteen sit on my USB and gather dust, and I thank her so much for the help.
Another thing, I never got around to writing it, but, originally, Stolen Miracles was meant to be about Pan and Trunks losing their children. However, I decided that they weren't quite what I wanted, and then became fixated on the ten year break between DBZ and GT and, lo and behold, Gohan and Videl became my victims. *tear, tear* The title has always been Stolen Miracles from the get-go, though.
I sighed softly, "I'm going to go meet them."
Bra nodded, "I'll stay here in the car, no use freaking them out."
I smiled, got out of the car, and walked into the small diner. I spotted them almost instantly. Two timid girls in a booth at the back of the dingy joint, almost identical. They scanned over the crowd shyly, looking the one who asked them to meet here.
"Are you Chyna and Corra Kincaid?" I asked softly, coming to a stop beside their table. They gasped, and looked up at me with their big blue eyes.
"I'm Corra, and this is my twin Chyna." The slightly taller twin told me.
"I'm Pan Son." I said softly, sliding into the booth. Both of them gaped at me, "You're the granddaughter of the Earth's Savior?" I nodded, "Don't scream it to the roof tops, I'm just here to tell you something." They nodded, settling down.
"When I was ten years old, my mother had twin girls at West City General Hospital, but they were pronounced stillborn and my parents weren't allowed to see the bodies. You two were born the same day to a Channing and Jana Kincaid, both of whom don't resemble you in the least. I work at the hospital as an OB/GYN, and I found your records and just had to look into it because it seemed so peculiar. I did a bit of research, and found out that I'm your big sister. Your parents kidnapped you from the hospital the day you were born."
They both looked at me in shock, "What, but how?"
I shrugged, "I don't know. You're about fifteen, right?"
Corra spoke up shyly, "We're 14."
I raised a brow, examining her small pale hands as they wrung each other out repeatedly. She looked worriedly at the window, and the action caused her bangs to shift, revealing a dark bruise that spanned over the right side of her forehead and curved around her right eye.
"Corra, sweetie, what happened to your eye?" She jumped, looking back at me, "Umm, I fell and hit my head on my nightstand. It's nothing." I watched closely as she hurriedly brushed her bangs back over the bruise. Chyna watched her sister, turning her head a little, and I examined a few marks that looked peculiarly like the hickies Trunks left on my neck several nights ago.
No... She's fourteen, that's too young for a boyfriend to be...
"Chyna, do you have a boyfriend?" I asked gently, "Because it looks like you two got rather frisky last night." She blushed and covered her neck, "I don't have a boy-" Corra hushed her, and I narrowed my eyes. 'Something's going on here... but what?'
"Well, I guess we got a little carried away..." she smiled, but it didn't reach her eyes, which were screaming discomfort. "Look, girls, it's getting awful late and I don't want you to be walking home in the dark. Why don't you-"
"NO! I mean, no, we'll be fine for a while longer, Pan." Corra's eyes were wild with fear and Chyna looked absolutely petrified at the thought of going home.
"Alright, enough games. I can easily see you two are scared to go home. Why?" I cut straight to the chase. Corra looked down at her hands and rolled up the sleeve of her sweatshirt... which was rather strange, considering its July and in the high nineties outside. She rolled it up almost all the way to her shoulder, revealing dark purple bruising, marring her pale skin.
"Oh my, sweetie what happened to you?" Chyna blinked back tears, "Our father did that to her... and he did this to me." She gestured to the reddened marks on her neck.
Oh. Hell. No. I fought back the rage that was threatening to consume me at that moment. "You're telling me...your parents abuse you and molest you?" I hissed.
Corra frowned, "Molesting would mean he just touches us... he does... much more than that."
My jaw fell, and Chyna wiped away a few stray tears. "My god... he... he rapes you?" Chyna buried her face in her sister's shoulder, bawling her eyes out.
"Repeatedly, since we turned twelve, and Chyna," she bit back a sob, "Chyna thinks she may be pre- you know..."
I closed my eyes and groaned quietly. How can people be so sick? "How long have they been abusing you, and what do they use?" I asked quietly.
"When we were six; me and Chyna were playing in the living room and we broke one of Mom's vases. Dad got mad and dragged us upstairs to our room by our hair. Mom was away at work or something. He made us," she bit her lip, "strip naked and tied our hands to the bedpost and belted us for over an hour. We couldn't sit for a week." I felt tears brimming in my eyes. My poor little sisters...
"He started... touching us when we turned seven." Chyna spoke up tearfully. "He'd come in our room at night and stick his hand down in our panties and put his fingers in places where they shouldn't go... and he'd make us put our hands in his pants and touch his... you know... Mom's always out drinking and sleeping around with other men and she's always high off of whatever new drugs she's brought home to try... she doesn't care about us..."
"That's it, you're coming back home with me, and I'm not taking no for an answer." I stood up, "Come on, we need to get going." They looked up at me in shock, "but... what if Dad-"
I cut them both off, "As far as know, your Dad is Son Gohan, not that bastard. Let's go. Either you come willingly, or I will take you, kicking and screaming." They stood up quickly, following me out to the black sedan where Bra waited.
"This is my best friend, Bra Briefs." I gestured to the wildly waving bluenette in my passenger seat. Their blue eyes widened almost comically as I opened the back door to let them climb in the car.
"You're friends with the heiress of Capsule Corp?" Corra asked, bewildered. "I am the granddaughter of the World Savior. I'm plenty famous, seeing as I'm the heiress to his hard earned glory... and you will be, too."
Chyna looked horrified, "But I don't want to be famous, Pan. I mean, I'm pregnant and everything. Wouldn't that give our grandpa a bad rep?" Corra and Bra looked over at her, shocked.
'Bra, I'll explain later.' She nodded, and Corra frowned, "You're keeping the baby?"
Chyna nodded, "It has a right to live, Corra, just like us," voice strong but subdued.
'Whoa... talk about drama...' Bra thought to me.
'Tell me about it. Let's just get them home. You won't believe the terrible environment they've been living in.' I motioned them into the car, not even noticing a waiter in the diner holding his cell phone to his ear, watching us as we pulled out and headed down the street to the interstate...
Originally, for a couple of weeks, it was just this scene and the prologue. I got it wrong. Chapter fourteen came into fruition first, but I wrote the prologue first to give it a basis. I remember how anxious I was when I sent it to V-Chan, I was hoping that she'd like it, and then, when she told me she loved it, I asked her to co-write it with me and the rest is history. I still can't believe it was almost three year ago, though.
P.S. The last chapter for SM is nearly finished. Don't think I forgot about it, it's just taking a bit of time.
