Alexander panted as he blasted down another of the flying creatures that had made a dive bomb for him. Oberon had a number of deities and magical beings who served under him, and while he was fortunate that none of the ones from the major pantheons were here, they were certainly no pushovers either.
He looked around to assess the situation. Most of the Iron Clan he's brought with him were destroyed. The few left didn't look like they were going to last much longer. Sooner or later, all the attention was bound to be on him. He could buy at least a few more minutes, but he was going to need Uran to hurry up with his sister.
"Halfling traitor!"
Alexander looked over his shoulder and saw another winged creatures making their way towards him. He prepared to swat it down, but before he could a laser beam flew through the air and struck it in the back. It screeched before falling down towards the ground, and Alexander looked over to see Cayenne flying nearby.
"Looks like you got yourself in a shitoad of trouble up here old man," Cayenne said. Micah and Junji flew by her, joining the fray and heading towards some of the enemies nearby. Down on the ground he could sense Amber and Dai Tai making their way towards the ones on the ground.
Alexander chuckled. "I'm not that old. But I'll let the comment slide since I could indeed use a helping hand. I am surprised to see you here though. How did securing Nia's little friend workout?" he asked.
"The runt is safe. Didn't want to head back to the ship so we voted to go help out Nia. But that didn't exactly pan out either. So here we are."
Alexander turned around and waved his hand, sending a wave of magic out and knocking down another few enemies. "Well, this certainly isn't going anything like we planned. But against Oberon I never expected things to go smoothly." The one thing his father had never been able to plan for was the king of Avalon, so he never had any delusions that he'd be able to either.
That didn't mean he still couldn't do the best to work with that he had though. "Would any of you happen to know where Asterossa is?" he asked.
Micah kicked back what he could only assume was a gargoyle and looked towards him. "I thought he was still fighting with that Umbriel guy? Did something happen?" Micah asked. He couldn't sense magic, so he hadn't been able to tell what was going on.
Alexander hummed. Both Astro and Umbriel's magical power seemed to be… well, not gone, but greatly diminished. From what he had been able to tell however, Astro by some miracle had bested the other prince. With that being the case, he would most likely have been heading towards where Nia was.
But could still sense the two of them going at it, no third party involved or even nearby. So what was he up to then? "I'm sure he's fine. He must have something up his sleeve. Until then we need to organize and buy as much time as possible. Stay close and-"
A loud roar cut Alexander off, and every head suddenly turned towards the sky, where a single figure was hovering up above.
Typhon smiled, his wings spread out and his arms crossed.
"Is that… Typhon?!"
"Why is he in this realm?!"
"The king of monsters!"
Typhon held his arms out, signalling for them to come. "It's been a long time since I've set foot on Avalon! I hope to receive a warm welcome from you all!" he shouted. For a moment there was just silence, and then suddenly every figure before rushing towards him, leaving Alexander, Cayenne, and the others to themselves.
Cayenne got ready to rush in and catch a few of them, but Alexander grabbed her shoulder. "I don't think that will be necessary…"
The first wave of enemies reached Typhon, who began knocking them back with his fist, wings, and tail. He casually swatted them aside, but soon more of them began coming in at once, dogpiling on top of him. They lost track of the king as he was buried in a mass of bodies.
Micah looked concerned. "Are you sure we shouldn't-?" Suddenly, all of them were sent flying off as Typhon flexed out his arms and wings. "Alright, nevermind then."
Typhon laughed as he looked around at them all. "Well, c'mon then! Surely this isn't all that you have to offer! I came here prepared for a battle! Show me the full might that Avalon has to offer!" he said.
They began rushing at him again, and the others just sat back and watched. If they needed to by time, then they might as well have just let the king do his thing. Besides, he was clearly enjoying himself...
The massive magical clash could be felt from every magic user on the island. And even those who couldn't sense magic could hear and feel the clashes between the grandfather and granddaughter.
Titania flew through the air as she fired another blast at Oberon. The king of the fae raised his hands and balled them up, stopping the blast in their tracks before sending them right back. Titania scowled before waving her arm, creating a portal in front of her that sucks the blast right up.
The other side of the portal opened up above Oberon, and the blast came flying down crashing right into him. When the dust cleared however, Oberon looked more annoyed than hurt. "How long do you continue to keep up this pointless game Titania?" he asked, brushing the debris off his shoulder. "I grow tired of throwing these passing breezes at one another."
Titania huffed. "I was trying to take your old age into account and hold back just a bit, but you truly are a stubborn old goat," she said holding her hand up. "It seems like I may really have to hurt you for you to realize how this is going to play out."
A blast of wind swirled around her arms before shooting towards him, spiralling like a drill. Oberon blocked it with his hand, being pushed back a few feet. He narrowed his eyes before dispersing the blast, then shaking his hand slightly. It had actually stung him a bit.
"I know now why you continue to put up this childish resistance. I offer you the chance to control a power unknown to you. A potential untapped. An opportunity to rule in my stead. And yet you would deny yourself that which flowed through your veins," he said, shaking his head.
Titania rolled her eyes. "Are you really so stupid as to think that you have anything to actually offer me?" she asked. "I already know how powerful I am, and I don't want or need you to tap into my potential. As for your throne… it means absolutely nothing to me. It's nothing but a big fancy chair as far as I'm concerned."
Oberon scowled. "Imputent child…"
"Stubborn old goat…"
He stepped towards her, his body turning into a blur as he somehow closed the distance between them in a single step. Titania wasn't able to react before he thrust his palm forward, knocking her back into the wall on the other side of the room. "If you will not listen to reason, then I shall simply show you the difference in what you are, and what you could yet become."
She just barely moved out of the way before he appeared before her again, punching right through the wall. She spun around and kicked up at him, but he casually swatted the attack away before flicking her, sending her flying back again. Titania quickly landed on her feet, and rushed back at him, a magical barrier surrounding her body.
Oberon grew a barrier of his own and charged back, and the two clashed in the middle of the room. They both glared as they attempted to push one another back.
"Your spirit is more than a bit admirable child. In the face of such power you still fight on. But soon you will see that it is a hopeless endeavor. You stand before-"
Titania raised her finger and fired another drill-like blast of wind at him, this time it was much smaller and compact, though it seemed to have the same power behind it as the one from earlier. "I don't give a shit who you are…" Titania said bluntly. The blast managed to crack, and then break through Oberon's barrier.
He was hit in the chest and then flying back into the wall behind him. Titania kept rushing forward, flying right into him and increasing the strength of her barrier as she tried to crush him between it and the wall behind him. "I am Titania Butterfly. By that fact alone I have more than you could ever offer me," Titania said. "Next to that, you're nothing."
Oberon grit his teeth. He managed to get his hands up and push the barrier back enough to cock his fist back. He knocked Titania back again, and she dispelled the barrier before launching another attack. This time a massive wave of ice. It covered the lower half of his body, freezing him against the wall.
"Child, the will of Oberon is everything…" the king said dangerously. His body began to glow, and suddenly he grew in size, shattering the ice around him as he now towered over her. He was the size of a giant now. He reached down towards her, but she zipped out of the way and began blasting at him.
It didn't seem to do any damage, and he simply kept making his way towards her as her, unaffected by her magical assault. She flew back a bit more and then held her hand up. "Atomic Butterfly!" A large glyph appeared in front of her, one that had a large butterfly symbol in the middle of it.
It shined brightly before suddenly sending a massive blast towards him. Oberon was hit in the chest, and to his surprise was knocked back. He managed to stay on his feet, though it was clear he'd felt this one. "Impressive granddaughter. But-" Titania waved her hands again, and another half dozen glyphs appeared around her. They all before firing at Oberon, who raised his hands to shield himself from the attacks.
He stepped back, growling under the pressure of the massive blast. But then he raised his foot and stomped down, sending a shockwave out. It shattered the glyphs and sent Titania flying back. She fell to the ground and Oberon stomped forward towards her. Right as he raised his hand to reach down and grab her, she raised her finger.
"Minimize!"
A small light shot from her finger, hitting Oberon in the chest. His body glowed once more, only this time he began to shrink rather than grow. As he did, Titania shot upwards and raised her fist. "Rainbow Fist Punch!" A rainbow colored fist shaped energy formed around her fist, and she nailed him right in the chin.
He fell back, crashing to the ground right as he returned to his original size. Titania held her arms out once more, and more glyphs appeared around her. "Rainbow Fist Gatling!" The glyphs all began shooting out fist shaped rainbow, barraging Oberon at a blinding speed. Titania kept the attack up as she raised her hands yet again.
"Shining Starlight Spear!"
A spear of pure blindingly bright energy appeared in her hands, and she grabbed it before hurling it down at him. It hit Oberon right in the chest, and then went off in a blinding explosion, sending dust and rubble all throughout the throne room. Titania smiled to herself. She was sure that the old goat was rattled now.
"You continue to impress…"
Her eyes widened, and she turned around to see Oberon floating next to her. She raised her hands to attack, but he quickly swung his arm and swatted her down to the ground. She rolled right back up to her feet, only to be knocked back again. He grabbed her by the throat, slamming her against the wall behind her.
"But you still do not seem to comprehend the difference in our abilities. My power, my experience, my wisdom. It has been cultivating for well over a millenia. For you, who have not yet lived a single lifetime, it is simply too much to overcome."
Titania struggled to pry his hand off, but Oberon's grip was like iron.
He's too strong!
I can beat him!
Not by yourself, let me help!
What could you do that I couldn't?!
Nothing! Neither one of us can beat him! Even when we throw everything we have at him! But maybe together we could have a chance! Let's just try!
Titania scowled. "Fine then…"
Oberon raised an eyebrow at the girl. "So, you've finally decided to see reason then. I commend your decision child. It takes wisdom to know when one is truly-" A pulse of magic shot off of Titania's body, and Oberon was sent sliding back. He quickly steadied himself and then glared back up at her.
There was even more magic pouring off of her girl, but… there was something different about it. The flow of her magic was somehow both calm yet fierce at the same time. Steady, but ready to burst forth and explode at any moment. Almost like it was unstable.
"This feels weird…"
She looked down at her hand curiously. She was still in her mewberty form, but… Titania wasn't in control. Not entirely anyway. Neither was Nia. It was like the both of them had one hand on the wheel. Oberon noticed that one of her eyes had seemed to change back to what it looked like before she transformed, while the other remained.
Was she suppressing part of her power, or…?
"Okay, this is going to take some getting used to," she said, opening and closing her hands. "We should just take it one step at a time and… ah, we don't have time for that."
She glared towards Oberon and raised her hand. "We're both on the same page right? So let's just not think too hard on it. We Take him down."
Oberon scoffed. "I know not what game you play little one, but your time is up. I have no intention of further indulging your-" Oberon blinked, and in that single instant Nia had shot in front of him, foot pulled back and throwing a kick right at his chin.
He didn't even have a chance to react before he was sent flying upwards, crashing through the ceiling and going straight through. Nia looked amazed. "Wow, we actually did that… let's go do it again!" she flew up after him. She had no idea how long she could keep this up, so she was going to hit him with everything she had while she could.
"We're coming for you Oberon!"
A/N: Typhon and the others join the fray to buy the Butterfly siblings more time, and Titania and Nia join forces proper to take on Oberon. But will it actually be enough to bring him down? And where exactly had Astro scurried off to? Gonna have to keep reading to find out!
Nia and Titania both having control of the body is meant to come off as a K.O and T.K.O sort of thing. Instead of just giving one control over the body, they're working together and coming at him with their might combined! But don't think it's gonna be easy keeping up the balancing act. They're going to have to really bring their A game if they want to tangle with their grandfather!
