Chapter 2- Hormones

"Hey, um, I am sorry, I really need to talk to you" she said.

He nodded, "yeah, what did you need for my file. Everything should be up to date, if not, Trent knows my history" he replied.

She smiled nervously, "Um, no, that's not what I really wanted to talk to you about. I just said that in front of the guys. There is something that I have to tell you and I want you to know that I am really sorry, I never meant for it to happen" she tried to explain.

He looked at her nervously. He was worried if everything was really okay. "Sure, what's going on? Whatever it is, you know that I will try to help you if I can" he said.

She dug into the back pocket of her jeans and pulled out a pregnancy test and handed it to him.

He just looked at her surprised before taking the test and looking at it for a long time before looking back up at her.

"Is this for real?" he asked.

She was on the verge of tears, nodding, "yeah, I took it last night. I am sorry. I don't want you to be obligated for anything, I just thought that you had the right to know" she replied tears rolling down her cheeks.

He pulled her into a hug and squeezed her tight. "I know that we never got into our family history, but I never thought this would happen. My dad and mom abandoned me, and I never really had a family, not until I made it to BRAVO" he pulled away, cupping her cheeks, wiping her tears, "this baby is part of my family, and I am going to be there for it and for you, whatever you need" he replied.

"Are you sure? I don't want to force you or pressure you into anything" she said.

He shook his head, "no, I want this. I may not have envisioned it happening this way, but that doesn't stop the fact that I want this" he reassured her.

She smiled and nodded, "okay, then we do this together" she replied.

He nodded and kissed the top of her head, "together" he agreed.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Three Months Pregnant…

Clay and Mia had been very civil about this pregnancy. He tried to be there for her as much as he could without being too obvious with BRAVO.

They had yet to talk about everything, so Mia was the one who broke the ice. She sent him a text while she was on her break that she wanted to talk to him after her shift.

'Clay, hey, it's Mia, can we meet after my shift. I need to talk to you about something that has been bothering me" she sent him as she sipped her green tea.

Clay was changing his clothes after a drill when his phone beeped with a text. He saw it was from Mia, so he sat on the bench and read her message, worried it was something with the baby.

After reading that she wanted to talk, he was even more worried. His thumbs flew across the keyboard of his phone, "are you okay? Is the baby, okay?" he asked.

Mia was scrolling through Facebook when she saw an alert for a new message from Clay. She couldn't help but smile as she read the message. He had been nothing but sweet to her throughout this pregnancy so far.

She put down her green tea and grabbed her phone, 'no, I am okay and so is the baby. I just want to talk logistics of our present and future relationship' she replied.

Clay pulled on his jeans and buttoned them up when his phone beeped again. He pulled it out of his pocket and let out a breath of relief.

'Yeah, why don't you stop by my apartment, and we can go over everything over dinner. You'll probably get there before me, just use the key from Derek across the hall' he informed her.

She smiled and nodded, 'okay, I will see you later' she replied before she got back to work.

The ER was actually pretty busy for being a base hospital. She was pleasantly surprised because she thought that the operators would avoid the place like the plague.

Being used to a busy ER was normal for Mia, but it was another thing trying to navigate the ER while pregnant.

Mia was excited about her pregnancy and the baby, but she was feeling utterly miserable. Clay was being really sweet.

He tried to bring her soup, crackers and ginger ale and even give her massages when he could. They decided that they would be there for each other, but Mia they were going to be friends and coparent through this. It was the best solution for everyone.

After a full 72hrs on-call, Mia made it to Clay's apartment for their impending talk. She walked into the building and stopped in front of his neighbors door.

She knew that Derek was Alpha Teams 2IC, so she was excited to meet him. Knocking on the door, she rocked back on her heels, waiting.

It wasn't long before a handsome, tall, chocolate eyed man opened the door with a smile, "hi, you Mia Hayes?" he asked.

She smiled, "yes sir. It's nice to finally meet you. I have heard a lot about you from Clay and Full Metal" she replied.

He laughed, "yeah, I wouldn't take anything they have to say too seriously. Especially the Pretty Boy across the hall" he teased causing her to laugh and nod in understanding.

He walked across the hall with her and opened the door for her. Clay called and told him that she would be coming by, to just let her in the apartment.

"Not that it is my business but does Bravo One know about you guys?" he asked leaning against the doorway as she dropped her bags by the TV.

She took a seat on the couch and shook her head, "not yet, but we are planning on telling him and the guys soon, so if you wouldn't mind keeping what you see here on the down low, I would appreciate it" she replied.

He nodded in understanding, "10-4 Doc, I'll be seeing you. Just knock if you need anything" he replied waving as he walked out.

Mia had intended to Instacart some groceries and start them some dinner, but once she settled into the couch, her shift caught up with her and her eyes started to droop.

She didn't even have the energy to take her shoes off. Clay came home and paused in the doorway. He couldn't help but smile and drop his bag by the door.

He walked over and leant over her, pressing a kiss to her forehead. "Hmhmm" her eyes fluttered open, sleep blearing her view.

"Hey" he smiled at her, "you have a long shift?" he asked.

She snuggled further into the couch, "yup, between running to the bathroom to throw up every five minutes, it took me extra-long to get everything done that I needed too. I was actually pleasantly surprised that it was busy for being a base hospital" she explained.

"I'll make you some soup okay. Want to see if you can keep it down?" he asked.

She shrugged and went back to her nap. He just smiled and leant over, giving her another kiss before pulling away and going to the kitchen.

He opened her a can of chicken noodle soup and made her some green tea. Once they were done, he put everything on a tray and carried it into the living room.

He put the tray on the table and sat at the edge of the couch. He stroked her hair and tucked it behind her ears, "hey I made you some soup and some tea. You think you can try them?" he asked.

She shrugged, "I can try." She stretched and sat up on the couch. He sat next to her and watched as she tried some spoonsful of soup and tea.

"Where's your food?" she asked between spoons.

"I ate before I left base with Sonny" he explained.

She couldn't help but start to cry. "I am so sorry for everything. I am such a burden on you" she said wiping her tears.

"Mia, you are the one going through all the changes and everything that's happening to your body. I am sorry that I can't be with you for all of it. Getting you some soup is the least I could do" he replied.

"Okay, so I think I should start the conversation since this was my idea. I think we need to be on the same page before we tell my brother and the rest of BRAVO" she stated.

He sat down next to her and nodded, "that's a good idea" he replied.

She nodded and let out a nervous breath, "so I think that we can both agree that the baby is number one to both of us. I told you when I met you that my family is going through something, and it is complicated right now to jump into a relationship. That still stands for me" she started looking at him to see what his reaction would be.

He leant on his thighs, "that is understandable. I am in the same place, I am still trying to get my footing in BRAVO, so I am good with whatever you want to do" he replied.

She nodded, "okay, I know how important this baby is for you and how much you value family because I feel the same way, so I think we should stick to that as the outline for this relationship. We are going to be in each other's lives forever, so I think being friends is a good place to start. You and the baby are always going to come first for me, and I think it is important that if we each meet someone, they knew we are a package deal" she stated.

He thought it over for a minute and replied, "I completely agree. I am always going to be here for you and the baby. I am always going to support you both the best I can, that is never going to change. If I ever do meet someone, they are going to have to meet you and it is important for me that you are okay with them being in our lives" he reasoned.

Mia nodded with a smile, "I feel the same way" she replied.

He looked over at her from his knees and nodded at her with a smile.

"Good, I am glad we are on the same page. I think that we should tell BRAVO this weekend. I am going to make dinner and we can tell everyone all at once" she stated.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::;

Next Friday, everyone from Bravo slowly made their way over Mia's for dinner. Mia was making roast beef with potatoes and vegetables.

She had the table set up for everyone and had gift bags on each plate. She wouldn't even tell Clay what she had planned, but she was excited for the big reveal.

Jason and the kids were the first ones there at 6pm sharp. He was worried about his sister. She hadn't been feeling well for the last few months and she wouldn't tell him what was wrong.

Clay opened the door and welcomed them all in, "hey guys" he greeted. "How was your recital, Emma? And your game Mikey, how'd you do?" he asked.

"Hey Uncle Clay, we did fine. Everything was fine. Sorry for showing up so early. Dad was paranoid to see Aunt Mia and make sure she was okay" Emma explained at Jason barging into Mia's apartment.

"Mia are you okay? Feeling better? Did you get checked out?" he asked his sister standing in the kitchen in his Bravo 1 stance, hands on his hips.

"Jace I am fine. Can't you just wait for dinner like everyone else?" she berated.

"No, you are my sister. I deserve to know that you are okay. You haven't been feeling well for months" he replied not budging.

Clay stood at the side of the Island while Emma and Mikey made themselves comfortable to watch the show.

They knew their dad and Clay knew his boss. Once Jason was in Bravo One mode, there was no stopping him. He was a man on a mission.

"Fine, go to your seat and open your gift bag" she said before turning to the kids, "you guys too. You might as well know with your dad" she replied before turning the stove on low and turning to watch them.

She pulled out her phone and recorded for their reaction. She was excited for them to find out.

Jason tore into the gift confused. He pulled out the tissue paper before pulling out a grey t-shirt, reading what it said out loud.

"Uncle of a New Seal"

It took him a minute longer than the kids. When Emma and Mikey pulled out their cousin t-shirts, they were ecstatic. Emma squealed and ran to her aunt to wrap her in a hug.

"Congratulations Aunt Mia" she said to her aunt.

Mia smiled and hugged her niece, "thanks Em, Mikey" she kissed their cheeks.

"Wait, you are pregnant?" Jason asked looking between his sister's stomach and her face.

Mia smiled and nodded, "yes we are having a baby. You are going to be an uncle" she replied.

Jason froze, "wait a second, who is we?" he asked looking between her and Clay.

Mia looked at Clay before glancing at her brother, "Jase, don't blow up. Calm down okay, we worked everything out" she stated.

Jason started pacing, "oh, you started working everything out. Mia, what the hell? You are a doctor, how the hell did this happen?" he argued.

Mia couldn't help but start crying, "Jase, I need you to be supportive of me and us okay. Please, we talked everything through, and we are not going through this blind. We know what to expect of each other. I need my big brother to be supportive" she yelled back, vision blurry from tears.

He pulled her into a hug and squeezed her into a bear hug while glaring at Clay. He was going to have to deal with this as Jason and not Bravo One, when all he wanted to do was kill his Bravo Six for doing this to his sister.

She pulled away and let her smile drop, "Jace, I need you to be okay with this. I am already three months along, so please just be happy for me" she said.

"I am happy, I am just worried. How are you guys going to do this? I wanted better for you than Seal life" he asked.

She looked at him incredulously, "are you kidding me Jason? I already live the Seal life. I have since you enlisted in the Navy and made the Teams. Come on, I have always been there for you and Alana and now I need you to be there for me" she argued.

"I need my big brother" she added.

"We are going to do it like everyone else. We are going to take it one day at a time and we are going to support each other. Now is it too much to ask that I have my only brother support me?" she yelled at him before turning back to the food, tears running down her face.

Jason sighed as he watched Clay step up to Mia and wrap his arms around her waist, his head nuzzled into her shoulder, quietly talking to her.

"He is just worried about you Mia. You and I both know that he loves you and supports you. He is probably just scared" he said to her.

Emma gave her dad a pointed look and nudged her head towards her aunt and uncle. She knew her dad was going to react like this.

Jason ran a hand over his face and got up to walk over to his sister, "Mia I am sorry, I love you. You are my baby sister I am just worried about you. Of course, I am going to support you, always" he said.

She turned to her brother and left Clay to wrap her arms around Jason's waist in a hug. He couldn't help but smile and wrap his arms around her.

"I am always going to be here for you I promise" he said kissing the top of her head.

She looked up at him, "for real?" she asked.

He laughed, "yeah for real" he replied pulling away and reclaiming his seat on the couch.

"Well, I am excited to meet my new cousin. I think this is going to be awesome" Emma added.

"Thank you Emma" Mia replied.

They all noticed that Jason didn't say anything to Clay and that the two were avoiding each other like the plague.

It wasn't long after did everyone start arriving. Mandy, Naima, and Lisa helped Mia in the kitchen while the boys gathered around the living room.

"This is a beautiful house Mia" Mandy commented.

Mia smiled as she started plating the food, "thank you. I actually got a really good deal and I wanted to be closer to my brother" she replied.

The girls nodded in understanding. It was spacious with three bedrooms upstairs and three more on the main level, a fully furnished basement, and live-in attic. She had a pool and big patio in the backyard.

Emma took the kids to play in the playroom away from all the adults. She knew that when her aunt told them about the baby, it was not going to go over well.

Once all the food was done, everyone sat at the table. "Okay, before we start eating, everyone open their gifts" Mia said.

Everyone started opening their gifts, taking out the tissue paper and pulling out their respective t-shirts, each reading aloud their messages.

"Aunt to New Navy Seal"

"Uncle to New Navy Seal"

It took each of them a minute to realize what they were reading. "You're pregnant?" everyone yelled at the same time.

Mia nodded with tears running down her face. The girls got up right away and congratulated her with a hug while the guys looked at Clay.

"Why don't you look surprised Spencer?" Ray asked.

Clay sighed and put his beer down, "because it's my baby" he replied.

Everyone looked shocked and turned to Jason who was watching Clay. "You know about this?" Ray asked Jase.

Bravo One nodded, "yup" he said.

"Well, Congratulations Clay" Ray replied looking between Clay, Jason, and Mia.

They all slapped him on the back and offered their congratulations. They were happy for them.

"Well, I'll be damned, Goldilocks here is gonna be a Daddy" Sonny said picking up his beer.

"He sure is to my future niece or nephew" Jason replied dramatically.

Everyone picked up on the underlying tension in his statement. Sonny smirked and clapped Clay on the back.

"Good luck with that one partner" he teased.

"Congratulations Mia and Clay on their new bundle. You know that we are all going to be here for you whatever you need" Blackburn said holding up his beer.

Everyone clanked beers and cheered in agreement.

After dinner, when everyone cleared out, Jason and the kids lingered. "Emma, you and Mikey help your aunt get cleaned up. Clay and I are going to take Cerberus for a walk" he said, the dog coming over at hearing its name.

Clay got the hint and put his leash on before leading him out, his boss following behind him.

It was a few blocks before Clay started the conversation. "Look Jace, I know you aren't happy about this and our situation, but I am not just going to leave her alone to raise a baby. I would never do that. Not after what my dad did to me. Just because we aren't together, doesn't mean that I am not going to be there every step of the way for Mia and the baby when it's born" he said.

Jason didn't say anything as they walked, and he listened to Clay. "You can talk all you want Clay, but it is like I told you when you first made Bravo. There are many things that can take you out of this job, don't take yourself out. You make the wrong decision regarding my sister or that baby and I can promise you that I am going to take you out of this job and off this earth without an ounce of regret" Jason warned him.

Clay couldn't help but smirk and nodded. "I hurt Mia like my dad did my mom and I, and I deserve everything you do to me" he said.

Jason nodded and shook his hand as they walked back to the apartment. Mia was asleep on the couch while Emma and Mikey sat on the floor in front of her on their phones, waiting for their dad.

Clay couldn't help but smile as he walked in and let Cerberus loose. "You guys go ahead and head out. Your dad is waiting outside in the car" he said to the kids.

"Thanks Uncle Clay, I packed up the food and put it away for you" Emma said as they got up and grabbed their stuff on the way out.

"Thanks Emma. I'll see you guys later" he replied as he walked them out and watched as they got in the car and Jason pulled out the driveway.

Once he was sure they were done, Clay went back into the house to find Cerberus laying in front of the couch, his face resting on Mia's stomach.

He smiled, "good boy" he patted his head, "but I got her from here" he said.

Clay reached down and lifted Mia into his arms, carrying her into her bedroom. He laid her on the bed on her side and started to undress her, helping her change into one of his t-shirts that she was been stealing whenever she staid over.

A few months they were together and already she had a drawer full of his shirts and boxers that she stole from his house, not that he minded.

She was already asleep when he slipped in behind her and wrapped an arm around her waist. He slipped his hand under her t-shirt to rest on her belly, gently stroking where their baby was.

He still couldn't believe that their baby was in there. He had thought about the baby all the time now, even getting the "What to Expect When You're Expecting" book to get a better understanding of what Mia was going through.

Once he could feel her breathing even out, he peaked up over his pillow and kissed her cheek, nuzzling his head into her hair, "thank you" he whispered before laying back down and going to sleep.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

It wasn't long before Bravo got spun up. Everyone was mission ready but Clay. He was racked with guilt over leaving Mia in her state.

She claimed that she was okay and that she would be fine with Emma and Mikey there to help her out, but that didn't mean that he wasn't still worried about her.

While he was going to be away, she was going to hear the heartbeat. He wanted to be there for her and with her to experience these things.

Clay did feel a little better that she was now feeling better and no longer had nausea and vomiting. She was able to keep everything down and was even craving food.

Emma, Mikey, and Mia stood at the tail of Jason's truck, watching the boys get loaded into the C-17. Jason came around the truck and wrapped his arms around his kids.

"Please be careful dad" Emma said.

"You know I will. You two look out for each other okay. Help your Aunt Mia out okay, make sure she is doing okay" he advised them.

Mikey nodded, "don't worry dad, we'll help out Aunt Mia" he reassured his dad.

Jason kissed the top of their heads before grabbing his bag and moving to his sister who was trying to hold back tears.

"Be careful and please look out for each other. Come back safe" she said wrapping her arms around his waist in a hug.

He kissed the top of her head, "I love you Mia. Don't worry about us okay, I will bring him home in one piece" he replied.

Mia smiled and pulled away from her brother, wiping her tears. "I'll be right back guys" she said to her niece and nephew.

She walked over to where Clay was waiting for her by his car. She walked right into his arms. He squeezed her harder into his chest, resting his head on top of hers.

He could feel her tears through his shirt. "Please don't worry about me okay. I just want you and the kids to look out for each other and let them help you. Just worry about the baby and please take it easy" he said pulling away when Jason walked by and cleared his throat.

He wiped her tears, cupped her face and kissed her cheek before kissing her forehead. "Please come back to me. Be safe and look out for each other" she said pulling away, wiping her tears.

He knelt on one knee and cupped her hips, pulling her closer to kiss her small baby bump. "I'll be back Peanut. Daddy is going to take care of business. You be good to your mom okay" he said kissing her one more time before he turned and walked away with Jason.

He needed Jason to pull him away before he turned around and went AWOL.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

While they were on the C-17, everyone was settling in and getting ready for the mission, Clay took his seat next to Sonny and put in his headphones. He leant his head back, closing his eyes, rubbing the picture of Mia pregnant he took when they discovered her baby bump for the first time.

She was kneeling on the bed in his Bravo Six shirt stretched over her bump.

Jason noticed Clay away from everyone else sitting on the bench staring at a picture in his hands, leaning on his thighs. He walked over and sat next to him noticing that the picture he was staring at was Mia's ultrasound.

"She's due for another ultrasound this week, isn't she?" he asked, causing Clay to come out of his bubble and nod at his boss.

"Yeah, she goes on Friday. If we are able to, I am going to try and call in. Otherwise, she is going to record it and send me the video" he informed Jason.

Jason nodded and patted Clay on the shoulder. "She'll be okay man, Gracie and Emma are going with her" he laughed to himself, "I think Emma is more excited than Mia" he added.

Clay smiled, "I bet" he replied.

"Look, I know that you are worried about Mia and the baby, but I need you mission ready and your head in the game" Jason said.

He didn't want to have to worry about Clay and his sister. Clay nodded, "I got it boss" he replied.

It wasn't long after before they hit the ground running. Once HAVOC was able to set up, Bravo was sent out.

They were constantly busy and always on the go to get the mission done and get their HVT successfully. They were so busy that Clay hadn't had a chance to call Mia in a few weeks.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Virginia Beach

Mia was up making breakfast when she could hear the kids start to wake up. They still had a couple hours before they needed to leave for school.

She was making eggs, bacon, some sausage, and cut up some fruit for Emma's smoothie. Apparently, her niece was on a smoothie kick.

Mia was excited to have the kids with her while the guys were spun up. For one it kept her from going crazy, but they also kept her company and gave her something else to worry about.

She even got Mikey his sports drinks and protein powders for after his games and practices. It was funny how much hungrier he got after playing hockey.

The first practice he had while he was staying with her, and she watched as he got home and literally raided her fridge. Then about an hour after that, he asked her if they could order food.

Because of her pregnancy hormones, she didn't object, so they ended up ordering from Applebee's. That's how Emma found them when she came home from her friend's house.

They were sitting in front of the TV with Cerberus laying in her Aunt Mia's lap, takeout containers lining the table in the living room.

"What happened to the roast and potatoes that we had left over?" Emma asked as she came in from her friend's house.

"We had those for lunch, and we got hungry, so we are having a fast-food fiesta" Mia said smiling at her niece as she got up and wrapped her arm around her shoulders.

"You guys are crazy" Emma laughed as she walked over and joined them on the couch, helping herself to some fries and a burger.

Mia had a rerun of the Harry Potter Movies on, so they all cuddled on the couch and just relaxed for the rest of the weekend.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

The next day, Mia took Emma to her theatre rehearsal and Mikey to his hockey practice. Emma was going to hang out with Hannah Seaver after rehearsal, Mia staid and watched Mikey's practice.

She was excited to watch her nephew in his element. You could tell that Mikey loved what he did, and he had the potential to go professionally.

They were in the middle of the face off and the other guy got the puck, racing it down the ice towards his teammates. Mikey and his friends ran after them trying to get the puck away.

Mikey and his friend Steven went after them at the same time, slamming into the boards as the two teams fought for the puck.

Mikey gets the puck and sends it over to Steven who is hauling ass down the ice. The other team had their guy going after Mikey and Steven.

Steven passed the puck back to Mikey and they raced down the ice towards the other goal. The other guy lifted his stick with Mikey's.

He threw his shoulder into Mikey's trying to push him away, but nothing was happening. The other teams guy leant down, real deep, and threw his shoulder hard into Mikey's while they were racing down the ice.

Not only did he knock Mikey off the play, but he flies a solid two feet over the ice before hitting the rink with a thud.

Immediately the whistle blows by the refs and coaches, causing Mia up on her feet, screaming "MIKEY," she was moving down the stairs and trying to get on the ice.

"Let me in, I am a doctor and his aunt. I swear to God if you don't move out of my way, you are going to be the one laid out on the ice" she seethed when they stood in her way.

His friend Dimitri got off the bench and grabbed her arms, "I can help you Dr. Hayes" he said helping her walk over to Mikey who was sitting up, standing with his teammates.

He saw his aunt rushing over with Dimitri and immediately skated over, meeting her halfway, taking her from Dimitri. "Aunt Mia are you okay?" he asked.

She had tears rolling down her face as she grabbed his arms, holding herself up on her nephew. "Are you okay Mikey?" she ignored his question and looked him up and down for injuries.

He looked at her like she was crazy. "Aunt Mia, I am fine. Are you okay? Why are you crying? Did you threaten my coach? What's going on?" he asked.

"He knocked you into the wall and then I saw you fall on the ice. We need to get to the hospital so I can check you out" she said trying to pull him off the ice.

He held her back, "Aunt Mia, I am fine. I promise. This happens all the time. I am going to take you back to the bleachers and then I am going to change okay. Then we can go home" he said skating her over to the bleachers.

"I am sorry Mikey, it's the hormones. They are taking over my body" she said wiping her tears.

He smiled and shook his head, "it's okay Aunt Mia, don't worry. Dad said that this would happen before he left" he explained to her, causing her to laugh.

"Figures" she replied making him laugh.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::;;;

The guys were busy while they were on the spin up. It was not going as expected. The intel was spotty, so they didn't know how long they were supposed to be there.

Every night Clay would email Mia, send her texts, and staring at their pictures. He missed her. She sent him pictures everyday of her bump, marking her progression through her pregnancy. He had them lined up against the wall in his cage in Virginia and a picture of the two of them under his arm-band, so it was always close to him.

Thinking about her, once they arrived back from patrol, while the guys went to shower and grab food, Clay went to call Mia.

It took a couple rings before it was answered. Instead of Mia's face on the screen, he saw Emma. "Hey Uncle Clay" she greeted.

He smiled, "Hi Emma, where's your Aunt Mia? We have a few minutes of downtime and I want to catch up with her before we have to go back out" he said.

"She is laying down. We just got back from the doctor's office. It was so cool Uncle Clay, we were able to hear the heartbeat of the baby and I learned that the baby is the size of a lemon" she rattled off as she walked through the apartment to find her aunt laying down, her hand cradling her stomach.

She knocked lightly, "Aunt Mia, Uncle Clay is on the phone" she said walking into the bedroom and handing her aunt the phone before walking away.

Mia sat up and took the phone before turning to see Clay. "Hey babe, how are you doing?" he asked when he finally saw her.

She immediately burst into tears and right away Clay was worried, sitting up further, leaning into the phone.

"Mia, you okay? What's wrong? Emma said the baby was okay, babe what happened?" he fired off question after question worried.

She shook her head wiping her tears, "no, I am fine. I promise. The baby is good too. Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you, it's just my hormones" she tried to explain through tears.

Clay let out a breath of relief, "are you sure?" he wanted to be 100% certain that everything and everyone was okay.

Mia nodded, "yeah I promise. We are all good. I am sorry, when I saw you it just all came out. I couldn't help it. It's these damn hormones, I have been all over the place. Just ask the kids I freaked out at Mikey's hockey practice. I went from crying to yelling at his coach. It was so embarrassing" she said.

Clay couldn't help but start laughing at her crazy emotion swings. Jace told him the other day that Mikey told him that Mia started crying at his hockey practice when he got pushed into the wall and then angry when the ref didn't foul the other player.

Seeming him laughing made her laugh, "you won't be laughing when you are home dealing with these crazy hormones" she teased.

He nodded, "that doesn't matter to me, as long as you and the lemon are okay" he said.

She smiled, "did Emma tell you that?" she asked.

"Yeah, but I already knew that. I downloaded the app before I left" he replied.

Hearing that made Mia start crying again. She was glad that he was a part of her pregnancy in his own way and as much as he could be for being a Tier One Operator.

"I have everyone at work helping me out. Connor turned out to be a lifesaver because he and Grace are on my ass about everything. They make sure I am eating, sleeping, taking a break, it's like they are my shadows. I brought Cerberus from the house to my house, and he has been there for me too" she informed him.

Clay smiled, "Good, you need to rely on your friends, although I am not sure about Connor. About Cerberus, that's a good boy. He might not be on Bravo anymore, but he knows that he needs to protect you and any future Bravo operator that might be in there" he teased.

They didn't know if it was a boy or girl yet, but she figured that Clay hoped it was a boy. Every man did.

Mia patted Cerberus's head and settled further on the bed and got the phone in a better position.

"Seriously though, how are you feeling Mia?" he asked.

She sighed, "how am I supposed to feel 3mo pregnant? Emotional, tired, hungry. I mean I went from vomiting every five minutes to eating like a crazy person. I feel like a garbage disposal. You can tell too" she said getting up on her knees and pulling off her shirt to show him her belly from the side.

Clay couldn't help but smile at the sight of a little bump protruding where her flat belly used to be but widened his eyes as he raked her body from head to toe. From the video, he could tell that the curve of her breasts was bigger.

Mia watched the video and laughed at his reaction, "yeah, those are bigger too. Gracie said that they are only going to get bigger the more I develop. Everything is changing Clay. It has only been a couple weeks and I am already feeling the change" she explained.

Clay just sputtered at being caught. He couldn't help but stare. Before he could say anything, he could hear Sonny making his way into the room.

"Hey Pretty Boy, we ready to head out" he walked in to see Mia in a sports bra and shorts before promptly turning around in the doorway, "woah there boy wonder, give a man a little warning that your canoodling little Miss Sunshine huh" he teased with a smirk.

Mia laughed at the look on Clay's face. He was bright red and shook his head with a laugh at Sonny. She grabbed a shirt and threw it on before leaning down into the phone, "Hi Sonny" she greeted.

"Why don't you let me say goodbye to Mia alone and you go wait outside" Clay said to Sonny, smirking with a shake of his head when Sonny raised his hand, "Oh, I get it, you want to finish get'in some from little Miss Sunshine, well, you hurry it on up One Hit Wonder before Boss Man comes in here to get ya" he said as he walked out.

"Sorry Mia, I have to get going. I'll try to keep you updated okay" he said.

She shook her head, the tears coming back, "Yeah, please be careful and look out for each other" she said waving as he clicked off.

It wasn't easy dealing with the pregnancy hormones that ravage your body while you are an ER doctor and trying to take care of your niece and nephew without looking like a nutcase.

Lucky for her, her family already knew she was a little crazy and that it was only going to get worse with her pregnancy. She had a big support system and they loved her. They understood that she had no control over her emotions anymore.

Every couple days while the guys where away Naima would call and check in. They even made a date to take the kids to the movies and see the new movie Sing, which was supposed to be really good.

In the meantime, the kids were enjoying being with their aunt and Mia was enjoying being with them. They promised Jason and Clay that they were going to look out for each other and that is what they planned to do.
