After cleaning the breakfast dishes, I grabbed my purse and a novel and went to wait for Edward on the couch in the penthouse's main sitting room. Two pages in I heard Edward.

"Bella, can I borrow you for a moment?"

Doing my best to remember how to navigate his wing of the penthouse, I finally found Edward in his bedroom walk in. I was not prepared for what greeted me. A very shirtless Edward was surrounded by sweaters, jackets and coats.

"If you show me where the hangers are, I can help get things put away."

"Put away? Oh no. Isabella I think you may have mistaken the reason I've asked you in here."

I wasn't sure what to say to that. Maybe some old wounds were showing.

"I'm sorry. I'm at a loss. What is this about? Do you want me to choose something for you to wear?"

I'm not sure, but I believe I hear him call me a darling girl. A rueful smile crosses his features. He can tell that things with Renee were darker than I'd let on, and I began to feel ashamed that I hadn't hidden it better.

"You're thin, Isabella, so nothing here in this closet is going to fit you, but you can't very well go out into the city to shop in just pants and and an undershirt. I figured I'd offer you something of mine. At least until we can get to The North Face store and Ugg Australia."

I felt a tear leave my eye and quickly wiped it away. Generosity like this didn't exist in my world and I knew it would only be a matter of time before he decided to replace me with someone better and more deserving.

"Why don't you pick something out, and I'll dress."

My ears perked slightly at his words. His body was art. I knew he'd need to dress for us to leave the apartment, but I was surprised to find that I didn't want him too. I felt my cheeks redden at the thought. I could lust after him all I wanted. He'd run for the hills when he found out I was a virgin. The man was a CEO, a renowned chemical engineer. I didn't have anything to offer him here.

Meekly I sifted through the pile until I came across a hoodie smaller than the others. His name was screen printed across the back, a baseball and glove underneath, with the number 45 the focus.

"Is this one fine?"

Now the tips of his ears had started to redden.

"That one is fine. Mighty fine indeed."

I was slightly disappointed to see that he had put on a thermal shirt and pullover over his carved chest and toned arms. I needed to do something to address these feelings I was having for him. They weren't appropriate. He was very clearly more than just a piece of meat.

Breaking me out of me reverie, Edward had donned his own boots and coat, and was in the process of adding a scarf and gloves.

Now dressed, he came over and helped me into his hoodie.

"Come Bella. We have a stop to make before our day of shopping can start. Why don't you head downstairs and greet Emmett while I make a call."

This was the second time he'd sent me away before speaking to someone. I quickly shook away the thought. So far, Edward didn't strike me as a man of many secrets. Gathering my purse from the couch, I waved to Emmett, who also seemed to be on the phone. Quickly saying his goodbyes to whomever was on the other end, he pulled me into a giant bear hug.

"How'd your first night go, short stack?"

I blushed at the nickname. Emmett seemed to be so easygoing.

"Put me down and I'll tell you about it."

I turned and grabbed him a bottle of water from the fridge.

"Is that Ed's old baseball hoodie?"

I nodded as a took a sip from my own water bottle.

I watch Emmett smile a secret smile and then quickly right his features.

"So Ed tells me we're shopping today?"

"That's what he says. I really wish you guys wouldn't go through the trouble."

Edward took that moment to join the fray.

"Nonsense. Emmett, the first stop for today will be the AT&T store. Isabella seems to be in need of a cell phone."

"Absolutely not. I have one already."

"Isabella, I've seen your cell phone. I originally mistook it for a brick. It may be good to stop a bullet, but it seems to be pretty obsolete tech."

"Isabella doesn't need a new cell phone."

"Edward would like you to have one. Consider it a part of our new arrangement."

I could feel my entire face heat. He'd just mentioned our deal openly in front of Emmett. To Emmett's credit, he didn't seem to be phased at all. I on the other hand felt sheepish.

"Please don't."

"Isabella, do you know how much money I make?"

Perhaps I'd misjudged him. He didn't seem like the type of dick that waved his money around but that sort of comment was unnecessary. He'd no doubt seen the state of Renee's house, as dark as it was. Before I could speak he was tripping over himself in an attempt to explain.

"I don't ask to be an asshole. I'd like to put today's trip into perspective. I want you to know that I intend to spend a pretty penny on today's trip and that at the end of it all, it will have only been a drop in the bucket."

I gritted my teeth in an attempt to keep quiet. He'd need to explain quickly if he still wanted me to go.

After typing something in, Edward handed me his blackberry. A quick glance showed me that he had typed in: Edward Cullen net worth into a search engine. I was afraid to scroll to the answer. I knew who he was and what his company did, but I knew I wasn't prepared to read that number.

It turned out that I was right. I wasn't prepared. In bold numbers and letters next to a photograph of him and some actress was: $400 million.

My jaw dropped. I was smart enough to know that there was no way his liquid assets amounted to that, but I took his meaning. He was right. Today's trip would be just a drop in the bucket.

"Bella, I'm still the same guy who likes his mother's sunny side up eggs and his fried chicken. This just means I can buy us quite a bit of that food."

Another head nod from me. I'd need to work on regurgitating my expansive vocabulary in front of this insanely wealthy man.

With confirmation that we were alright, him and Emmett shepherded me into the elevator and down to the garage. It may have been my paranoia, but I swore I could feel James' eyes on me as we walked to the SUV.

I half expected Emmett to be the one to open my door, but the two seemed to have arrive at an understanding. Emmett walked around and got into the driver's seat, while Edward made sure I was settled into my seat in the back. Shortly after, he himself was all buckled in, and we were off.

"So Bella. Have thought of what color device you'd like? Will you need lots of storage space?"
