Episode 452: The Battle Giant
A couple of hours came and went after Sora's battle with Gladion. Even though he lost to him the second time, but that didn't discourage him. Cilan had fed Sora's six Pokémon the Pokémon food mixed with healing herbs and Sitrus Berries."Eat as much as you like," Cilan said. Angel nuzzled Pikachu, comforting him from his recent defeat.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said, nuzzling her back.
"At least there's someone who will have faith in Pikachu no matter what," Kairi said.
"Yeah," Sora said.
"And of course, I'll always have faith in you no matter what, Sora," Kairi said. Sora smiled as he took her hand.
"I appreciate that," Sora said, giving her a kiss.
"That Gladion is just as strong as you said he is," Iris said.
"Axew," Axew said.
"Yeah. He also battled RIku and beat him. He used that Umbreon of his against Eevee," Sora said.
"I have been wonderin about something for a long time; about Riku and Eevee I mean. And also you and Pikachu. How come you two never made your Pikachu or Eevee evolve?" Iris asked.
"It was really Pikachu's choice; same with Eevee's," Sora answered.
"Pikachu's choice?" Iris asked.
"I never would have thought of that," Cilan said.
"It's true. Sora thought of evolving Pikachu once, but he was against it, because he wanted to battle any opponent just the way he is," Kairi explained.
"I'm going to think that Riku's Eevee had that same exact reason," Cilan said.
"You thought right, Cilan," Terra said. "I didn't really get that at first either, but Sora respected Piakchu's desicion."
"When was this decided?" Iris asked.
"It was right after Sora lost his battle against Lt. Surge, the Gym Leader of the Vermillion City Gym. He specializes with Electric Type Pokémon. The Pokémon he used against Sora was a Raichu, Pikachu's evolved form. Unfortunatley Surge's Raichu evolved too fast since he never learned moves that he could learn as a Pikachu," Aqua said.
"Just like that?" Iris asked.
"That was the only Gym battle Sora has ever lost," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"But there's no shame in losing to Gladion since he trained hard for a rematch against me. And I can think the same way about Hau," Sora said.
"You battled him before didn't you?" Cilan asked.
"I did, and I won. Hau was a tough one, I can give him that. The heaviest contender was that Decidueye of his," Sora said.
"I also battled Hau and I won. Not one of his Pokémon were any pushovers," Kairi said. She giggled. "But he sure did have fun in those battles."
"I am wondering what's he's up to right now," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
Later that night, a battle is taking place with a Golurk lands a hit onto a Beartic. The polar bear Pokémon was easily beaten despite a weakness to Ice Type Pokémon.
"Beartic! No!" The trainer cried. The Golurk belonged to a large trainer, wearing a trench coat and a fedora hat. He also wore a black scarf to hide his identity. He took the Pokéball that belonged to Beartic and used it on it.
"Your Beartic is now mine!" The giant said, laughing as he took his leave.
"Beartic, no," the trainer cried.
A few days later, Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Cilan, Iris, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, and Axew all arrived to the town closest to Driftveil City. They arrived to the Pokémon Center with a bunch of trainers at a real dissaray. Sora could tell something was up.
"Excuse me. Is something going on?" Sora asked.
"Fine!" The trainer said, taking off. Sora tilted his head awkwardly.
"Oookay," Sora said.
"I think I can smell something is up," Meowth said.
"And how can you smell anything without a nose?" Ventus asked. Pikachu and Angel chuckled.
"Hey, don't laugh at me!" Meowth said.
"Meowth is right. Something is going on, and those trainers seems to be discouraged," Cilan said.
"What could have happened?" Aqua asked.
"Psst!" A voice said. The group all turned to see a trainer with big glasses. He gestures them to come over. "You just get here in town?"
"Yeah. Any idea what's going on?" Sora asked.
"I sure do. This is because of the Battle Giant," the trainer whispered.
"Battle Giant?" The group all asked.
"Shh! Not so loud!" The trianer said.
"Sorry. Who and what is this Battle Giant?" Sora whispered.
"Okay, if you must know, this guy is a giant guy with a giant Pokémon; A Golurk. It's been a real problem here in town. It's got everyone talking," the trainer whispered.
"Why are we whispering if everyone knows about it?" Iris asked.
"Because the trainers here are too embarrassed to talk about it. They were all challenged to the Battle Giant and lost to that behemoth," the trainer whispered.
"I can understand, because defeat isn't an easy thing to live with; for most trainers," Cilan whispered.
"You got that right, greenie, but that's not gotten everyone is a real tizzy," the trainer whispered.
"What is making everyone talk about the Battle Giant?" Kairi asked.
"Okay, the thing is, the Battle Giant uses his Golurk to battle every trainer that hits his radar. And he makes them go with an ante rule," the trainer whispered.
"An ante rule? You don't mean what I think you mean, do you?" Sora asked.
"Yeah. Trainers has to put their best Pokémon on the line, and agree to hand it over to the winner," the trainer whispered.
"What? You have to give one of your Pokémon to this guy when you lose? That's just low!" Iris hissed.
"I'm with her. Why is he doing this?" Aqua asked.
"I don't know. But Officer Jenny has set up a curfew, so that no one is to be out after dark," the trainer whispered. "And if you value your own Pokémon as much as I do, you would stay in at night." He took off.
"I can't believe that there is someone who is like that," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"I can becaise of a certain someone who was a part of a certain organization from way back," Sora said, looking at Meowth.
"Hey, that was a long time ago," Meowth said. "Besides I don't do that no more!"
"We should focus on the matter. Maybe we could catch this Battle Giant red-handed," Cilan said.
"Cilan's right. We can't let something like this stand," Terra said.
The trainers checked their Pokémon in to be treated as a small trainer is making his way to Nurse Joy as he is tripped by some taller trainers.
"Step lively there, shrimp!" A taller trainer taunted. He and the other two laughed right at him. He growled in their way. The group hears the laughter behind them and turned to look. The short trainer stood on his feet.
"What's the matter, little man? You going to cry?" One of the taller trainers taunted.
"Man, what jerks," Sora said.
"Just because he's shorter than they are, doesn't give them the right to pick on him," Aqua said.
The short trainer went up to Nurse Joy.
"Are my Pokémon better?" The short trainer asked.
"Of course, Brier. Yours and Beauregard's Pokémon are fighting fit," Nurse Joy said. She hands them over to Brier. "You should remind Beauregard about the Battle Giant out there."
"I'll be sure to do that," Brier said. He took his leave. Sora noticed that he didn't seem too concern about the Battle Giant.
"Excuse me, Nurse Joy, you said something about the Battle Giant, right?" Sora asked.
"Yes I did. The Battle Giant has set up an ante rule when it came to battling. None of you should have anything to do with him and just stay in at night," Nurse Joy warned.
"Just how often has this Battle Giant been operating?" Cilan asked.
"And what does he look like?" Ventus asked.
"Things has been bad for them by day, but it gets worst by night. They say that the Battle Giant comes out only at night and he covers himself in dark clothes to make himself blend into the night. Officer Jenny has been working around the clock to arrest him," Nurse Joy said. "Anyway, I suppose you're here to check on your Pokémon."
"Yeah. How are they?" Sora asked.
"They're fighting fit," Nurse Joy said. SHe hands the trianers their Pokéballs. After that, Sora has exchanged Elgyem and Archen for his Frillish and Cubchoo as Kairi has exchanged her entire team except for Angel for her own Frillish, along with her Tranquill, Munna, Watchog, and Emolga.
They arrived to the local Pokémon Battle Club and they spotted Brier in a battle. He has sent out a Mienshao against a Krookodile.
"Looks like a battle is going on," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"It's that guy form before," Ventus pointed out.
"You're right, Ven. It's Brier," Sora said. He looked right at Brier and he could tell that he was nervous just by how he was shaking.
"Mienshao! Use Focus Punch! I mean Focus Blast! Ohh!" Brier was getting mixed up.
"Krookodile! Aerial Ace!" Brier's opponent ordered. Krookodile jumped and dashed right at Mienshao and lands a direct hit, resulting in a knockout.
"Mienshao is unable to battle! Krookodile wins! The victory goes to Hank!" Don George announced. Brier took his leave.
"What could have happened out there? It look like he was doing okay, but what gives?" Sora asked.
"He just has stage fright," a new voice spoke. They turned to see a young man with black hair that is neatly arranged, with a large portion flushed back and slightly to his left. "Brier has tremendous skill, but he hasn't yet been able to handle the pressure of battling in public like this."
"You know him?" Sora asked.
"Not personally I would say. I apologize of being rude. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Bastion Misawa," Bastian introduced.
"I'm Sora, and this is my girlfriend Kairi and my cousin Ventus," Sora introduced.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Nice to meet you. This Eevee is Angel," Kairi introduced.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"I'm Terra."
"My name's Aqua."
"I'm Cilan."
"And I'm Iris."
"Axew," Axew finished.
"You wouldn't happen to be Sora Ketchum, the Pokémon League Champion of Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh?" Bastian asked.
"That's me," Sora answered.
"I thought as much since the way you have introduced yourself, and the fact you have a Pikachu with you. Not native to the Unova region as I recall," Bastian said.
"I didn't think it was possible, but he's even smaller than he was before!" Hank taunted. He and several other trainers all laughed at him. They were so busy laughing at him, they didn't even notice the scowl on his face.
"He looks just like a Joltik in that position!" Another trainer said.
"I think I might need glasses to see him!" Another trainer added. They all laughed right at him.
"Or mabye a magnifying glass!" Another trinaer siad.
"Try a microscope!" Another trainer added. Brier leered at them hatefully. Sora then felt his hate for his bullies.
"That's weird. I can feel something coming off of him," Sora said in his thoughts. Kairi noticed something bothering her boyfriend.
"Sora?" Kairi asked. Sora turned to her. "What's wrong?"
"Just had a weird feeling," Sora said. He looked right at a large young man, waiting for Brier. Sora tilted his head. "Call it a hunch, but I think that must be Beauregard."
"Him? He works here as a staff member. I have seen him around," Bastian said.
"He looks like to be big enough to be a Battle Giant," Iris said.
"He is no trainer. He can't even hold a Pokéball properly," Bastian said.
Sora wasn't too sure. He decided to follow Brier and Beauregard. Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel went with him.
Brier and Beauregard walked down the hall with a few more trainers came in their path.
"Hey, is it me, or did it just get crowded in here?" One trainer asked. The other two laughed.
"This hallway has just exceeded the weight limit!" Another trainer said.
"How about you move out of the way," another trainer said. Brier and Beauregard moved out of the way for them.
"I think I felt the ground shake," the first trainer said.
Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel approached Brier and Beauregard.
"Excuse us," Sora approached the twosome. They turned to see them.
"What do you want?" Brier asked hotly at Sora.
"Cool it, I just wanna talk," Sora said.
"Or maybe to make fun of us," Brier snapped at him.
"Take it easy, Brier, I just wanna talk about something," Sora said.
"About what?" Beauregard asked.
"About what you know about the Battle Giant," Sora said.
"The police has been looking into it for a while," Kairi said.
"Uh, we don't know what you're talking about," Beauregard said.
"Besides the police is just chasing around some fairytale! There's no such thing as a Battle Giant!" Brier said. Sora could tell something was really up.
"What do you think, Sora?" Kairi asked her booyfriend.
"They're both hiding something. They know more than they're letting on," Sora said.
"You mean they know about this Battle Giant?" Kairi asked.
"That's what I'm leaning towards," Sora said.
"You think Beauregard's the Battle Giant, don't you?" Kairi asked.
"Nothing ever could get by you," Sora said.
"I think it has got to be Beauregard, because he's just the right size," Kairi said.
"Yeah, but Bastian did say that he isn't a trainer," Sora said. Sora had to be very sure before he could jump the gun about the Battle Giant.
Later that night, Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Cilan, Iris, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, and Axew all came out looking for the Battle Giant.
"Just how are going to find this giant? Look for a giant-sized footprint?" Meowth asked.
"That one guy and Nurse Joy said that the Battle Giant comes out at night, so we'll have to start searching," Sora said.
"And what better way to get him than catcching him red-handed by night?" Kairi asked.
"Point taken," Meowth said.
"Help!" A voice yelled.
"You hear that?" Terra asked.
"It's gotta be him!" Iris said. The group ran close to the source of the disturbance. They saw it was the trainer named Hank from before.
"Hank," Sora said. He went up him. "What happened?"
"It's the Battle Giant! He did this!" Hank said.
"Which way did he go?" Sora asked.
"That way," Hank said, pointing in front of him. The group went to where Hank has pointed them. They kept on going until they saw a tall dark figure in the dead of night.
"Hey you!" Sora called out. It turns out to be the Battle Giant they were looking for. "You're him! The Battle Giant!"
"He's not as big as I thought he would be," Ventus said.
"Still pretty big," Iris said.
"I'm challenging you into a battle, Battle Giant!" Sora declared. The Battle Giant paused for a moment before he replied.
"As you know, it'll be an ante battle, so if I win, any Pokémon you got is going to be mine. And the one I have my sights on is your Pikachu," the Battle Giant said.
"Sora, you can't agree to his terms!" Aqua said.
"She's right. You're playing right into his hands!" Terra said.
"I accept the terms of the battle, but I have my own terms as well! If I win, then you will have to return all of the Pokémon you have taken from the other trainers you battled!" Sora declared.
"And there is one rule to the battle: you have to battle against my Golurk using all six of yours," the Battle Giant proclaimed.
"Done," Sora said, taking out a Pokéball as the Battle Giant took out an Ultra Ball and threw it.
"Is Sora seriously accepting this battle?" Aqua asked.
"He'll have to. Any trainer has to be ready for anything coming their way; even if Sora has the advantage in numbers against one," Cilan said. The Battle Giant threw his Ultra Ball and his Golurk came on out to battle. Sora threw his Pokéball.
"Go! Frillish!" Sora called out. Frillish came on out to battle against Golurk.
"This should prove to be delicious! Frillish is both a Water Type and a Ghost Type, so a good advantage!" Cilan said.
"Yeah, but Golurk has the advantage since Ghost Type Pokémon are weak against Ghost Type moves," Aqua said.
"Frillish! Start things up with your Water Gun!" Sora ordered. Frillish fires Water Gun right at the automation Pokémon. Golurk took the hit, but it did so very little to it.
"Golurk! Shadow Punch!" The Battle Giant ordered. Golurk lands a Shadow Punch onto Frillish, dealing some heavy damage.
"Fillish! Use Shadow Ball!" Sora ordered. Frillish fires Shadow Ball right at Golurk.
"Show them what a real Shadow Ball looks like!" The Battle Giant ordered. Golurk fires a Shadow Ball and it cuts through Frillish's Shadow Ball and land a hit. Frillish has been knocked out. Sora calls Frillish back and took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Your turn now, Dewott!" Sora called out. Dewott came on out to battle.
"Golurk! Shadow Punch!" The Battle Giant rdered. Golurk unleashed a Shadow Punch right at the otter-like Pokémon.
"Razor Shell!" Sora ordered. Dewott slashes through Golurk's Shadow Punch. "Now, use Water Gun!" Dewott fires Water Gun and it lands another hit.
"Your Dewott's Water Gun didn't even phase my Golurk!" The Battle Giant taunted.
"Water Gun again!" Sora ordered. Dewott fires another Water Gun and it heads right towards Golurk.
"Dodge it!" The Battle Giant called out. Golurk dodges the attack and the water struck the Battle Giant instead. It washed off his disguise to reveal Beauregard. He wore a com on his ear and a microphone to his mouth. Everyone gasped in surprise.
"It's that big guy from before!" Meowth said.
"I knew it! It was him!" Kairi gasped.
"You're half right, Kairi," Sora said. Kairi was dumbfounded.
"What should I do?" Beauregard asked.
"You might as well just cut the act. Won't the real Battle Giant please step on out?" The rest of the group all were confused.
"Real Battle Giant? What does he mean by that?" Iris asked. She got her answer when Brier stepped on out, wearing a similar com.
"What?" Iris asked, feeling dumbfounded.
"It was him the whole time?" Aqua asked.
"How did you figure it out?" Brier asked.
"When I first saw you, it was just a coincidence, but then I was seeing how those other trainers were making fun of you when you lost that battle from before, that's when it hit me for the first time. I thought you had something to make you taller; but when I saw Beauregard, that's when it started to make sense. I knew it was the both of you working together when you denied the existence of the Battle Giant," Sora explained.
"Of course! It does makes some sense!" Cilan said.
"I lost that battle you saw earlier, so how could you think I could win that battle?" Brier asked.
"I heard that you're a great Pokémon trainer, but the only problem was that you had stage fright, which explains why the Battle Giant only came out at night, spoke to each other by radio," Sora explained.
"But why are you doing all of this?" Kairi asked. Brier took off the com as did Beauregard.
"Because they deserved it," Brier said.
"Deserved it? What makes you think that they deserve it?" Iris asked.
"The show is over, so you might as well cut this battle short," Cilan said.
"What do you mean over?! Nothing's over!" Brier exclaimed. "I won't go home as Little Brier. They all make fun of me because that I'm small. They call me a puny Joltik, or a shrimp! I'm tired of them always laughing at me! That's why I always get nervous! I couldn't concentrate! Then I met Beauregard. They made fun of him, too, so we both a promise. That promise is to get all of them back, right where it hurts the most!"
"Their Pokémon," Ventus said.
"That's when you came up with that ante," Terra said.
"You mean this whole thing is just to get back at your bullies and steal their Pokémon from them just as an act of punishment?" Aqua asked.
"And that explains the disguise. You only wore the trenchcoat just so no one would recognize you," Sora noted.
"That's right!" Brier said. "As for Golurk, we found it when it was just a Golett. It was abandoned by its trianer, saying that it was worthless, so we took Golett in as our own Pokémon, and train it hard into the Golurk you see now. After it evolved into a Golurk, we began to use it to battle all the trainers who made fun of us!"
"Well the Torracat's out of the bag now, so eventually everyone in town is going to know who you are, including Officer Jenny when she slaps the cuffs on you. That is unless you agree to finish the battle," Sora said. Brier looked right at Sora and grolwed.
"Fine, since I don't have much of a choice! But just in case you forgot, your Pikachu is still up for grabs!" Brier said. "Golurk! Use Magnitude! Golurk slams its fist onto the ground. It was a Magnitude of 5, so it did some damage onto him. "Now, use Shadow Punch!" Deowtt is struck hard by Shadow Punch. Sora calls back Dewott and took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Cubchoo!" Sora called out. Cubchoo came on out to battle. "Use Powder Snow on its legs!" Cubchoo fires Powder Snow and he freezes Golurk's legs, making it hard for Golurk to move. Sora calls back Cubchoo and took out another Pokéball and threw it. "Your turn, Servine!" Servine came on out to battle. "Use Leaf Blade!" Servine jumps and lands a Leaf Blade onto Golurk.
"You think that's going to stop Golurk? Think again! Golurk! Hyper Beam!" Brier ordered. Golurk fires Hyper Beam right at Servine, dealing some heavy damage. Servine has been taken down. Sora calls back Servine and took out Dewott's Pokéball and threw it.
"Back to action, Dewott!" Sora called out. Dewott came on out to battle. "Use Aqua Jet!" Dewott uses Aqua Jet and it darts right into Golett like a torpedo. "Now use Razor Shell!" Dewott lands a hit with Razor Shell.
"Golett! Shadow Punch!" Brier ordered. Brier lands a hit with Shadow Punch. "Finish Dewott off with Shadow Ball!" Golurk fires Shadow Ball right at Dewott, resulting in a knockout. Sora calls back Dewott and took out Cubchoo's Pokéball and threw it.
"Back to action, Cubchoo!" Sora called out. Cubchoo came on out to battle. "Use Night Slash!" Cubchoo slashes at Golurk, dealing some heavy damage. "Now, use Frost Breath!" Cubchoo lets out a cold breath of air and it hits Golurk again. Sora calls back CUbchoo and took out his next Pokéball and threw it. "Your turn now, Pignite!" Pignite came on out to battle. "Use Fire Pledge!" Pignite unleashed Fire Pledge and it surrounds Golurk, dealing some more damage. Sora calls back Pignite and turned to Pikachu. "Your turn now, Pikachu!" Pikachu nodded and went in to battle Golurk. "Use Iron Tail!" Pikachu swings his tail onto Golurk and it lands a hit onto the golem-like Pokémon.
"Shadow Ball!" Brier ordered. Golurk fires Shadow Ball right at Pikachu.
"Block with Thunder!" Sora ordered. Pikachu uses Thunder to block Golurk's Shadow Ball. It blocks the attack and lands a hit onto Golurk. Golurk didn't take damage due to its resistance to Electric Type attacks.
"Golurk! Use Hyper Beam!" Brier ordered. Golurk prepares to fire Hyper Beam.
"Quick Attack and then Iron Tail!" Sora ordered. Pikachu ran to avoid Golurk's Hyper Beam. Pikachu jumps and swings his tail right at Golurk, landing a heavy hit. Golurk goes down for the count. Brier and Beauregard had lost the battle.
"Way to go, Sora!" Ventus cheered for his cousin.
"Sora the Giant Slayer!" Meowth exclaimed.
"It looks like we're through," Brier said.
"No, not we," Beauregard corrected him. "I'll go and turn myself over to Officer Jenny." Brier looked right at Beauregard.
"Beauregard," Brier could only said.
"Officer Jenny will go easy on me if I cooperate. I have always been alone, so I won't let her put you in jail not after you taught me what it's like to have a friend. I'll just tell her that it was all me and I acted alone," Beauregard said. "Besides we did promise each other that we would look out for one another, didn't we?" Brier looked at him and he could see that he was willing to make a sacrifice for him.
"Beauregard," Brier could only say.
"Hold on, Beauregard. I didn't say anything about turning yourself in. I said that you have to give back all of the Pokémon you took from the trainers you beat," Sora reminded the two friends.
"That's right. You said nothing about involving the police," Cilan said.
"What those guys did to you was wrong, but what you guys did was also wrong. But you can start doing the right thing by giving them back to their rightful trianers, and promise to never pull a stunt like this again," Sora said.
"We promise," Breier and Beauregard said.
With that said, the gorup all returned to the Pokémon Center with all the Pokémon Brier and Beauregard took from their previous opponents.
On the very next morning, the trainers were all happy to have them all back. Also, the identity of the Battle Giant remains a mystery. Cilan approaches Sora with a great deal of curiosity and interest.
"Sora, you don't mind if I ask you something, do you?" Cilan asked.
"I don't mind, what is it?" Sora asked.
"I was wondering something for quite a while, so I just wanted to know something. Did you use your aura ability on them? Was that how you really know?" Cilan asked. Sora gave off some sweat.
"I don't know what you're talking about," Sora said nervously.
"No need to be coy, Sora. I heard you and Kairi talking about it one night," Cilan said. Sora sighed.
"Okay, I did. I didn't tell you about it because I didn't think you woudl believe me," Sora said.
"I can understand that. Could that have something to do with your bloodline?" Cilan asked.
"Yeah it does. Sir Aaron and my other ancestors all had it; my dad included," Sora said.
"When did you first discover this gift?" Cilan asked.
"I found out about it by accident when some guys were threatening my mom. I was surprised when I saw what I did for the first time. Being decended from a line of knights was one thing, but having mind-blowing powers is another," Sora said.
"I always you had some secret ingredients, Sora," Cilan said.
Sora and Cilan talked some more as trainers were talking among themselves.
"Can you believe that someone found my missing Pokémon?" One trainer asked.
"I sure can't. It was lucky that Brier and Beauregard found them before something bad happened to them," another trainer said.
"You think he's gone for good?" Another trainer asked.
"I hope so, because I wouldn't want to run into that guy again," another trainer said. Brier and Beauregard were both relieved to hear that no one has suspected Beauregard of anything else, and they saw that it was best.
Later, Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Iris, Cilan, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, and Axew all took off for Driftveil City and the story continues.
