Episode 482: Sora vs Marlon Round 2
After preparing for a few days, Sora and Kairi gets ready for their final challenges before the Unova Pokémon League and Grand Festival. Sora was going over his strategy for the battle. He figured he would go with Pikachu, Serperior, and Eelektross for the battle against Marlon. As for Kairi, she got what she needed to be done with Vanillish, Swoobat, and Maractus.
"What did you think, Sora?" Kairi asked her boyfriend.
"You'll do great, Kairi, I guarantee it," Sora said. Kairi beamed.
"Thank you, Sora. You always know what to say," Kairi said.
"But he shouldn't say it at all," a familiar voice spoke. Sora and Kairi saw it was Beatrice at the beach. She wore a green bikini top and a green skirt. "Especially when she's going to lose."
"Beatrice, a displeasure to see you here," Kairi said.
"The feeling is mutual," Beatrice said. "Would you by chance be here to compete in the Humilau City Pokémon Contest?"
"Why, you in it, too?" Kairi asked.
"As much as I would like nothing more than to eliminate you from the Contest myself, but I have already obtained my fifth Contest Ribbon. So, we will be having our rematch during the Grand Festival. Assuming you even get in at all." Kairi glared right at Beatrice.
"Don't let her get to you, Kairi. She's just trying to psyche you out," Sora said.
"You're right, Sora. She's not worth the sand on the beach," Kairi said.
"Are you comparing me to the sand?" Beatrice asked.
"Even the sand would have more class than you anyway," Kairi said. The couple and the Pokémon took leaving Beatrice behind. Beatrice huffed in anger.
"I do hope you lose the Contest, Kairi! And I'll be laughing! You'll see!" Beatrice said. They just ignored her. "I'll be watching from start to finish."
It was now time for the Humilau City Pokémon Contest to begin. Sora, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Cilan, Iris, Cameron, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, Axew, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, Eclair, Riolu, and Meloetta took their seats as Beatrice is sitting at another section.
"Ladies and gentlemen, today, we come here today to take a peek at the beautiful ocean, the sandy beach, and the Pokémon that live in the sea! And we come here to this fabulous Humilau City Pokémon Contest!" Diane announced as the crowd cheered as loud as the ocean. "We are fortunate to have this beautiful Contest by this beautiful beach city! The winner of the Humilau City Pokémon Contest shall receive this lovely Humilau Ribbon! Before we begin, let me introduce you to our panel of judges! The head of the Contest Committee is Mr. Nathaniel Basil!"
"A day as beautiful as this makes it appropriate to have this marvelous Contest!" Mr. Basil said.
"Our second judge is Miss Juliana Minerva!" Diane announced.
"Hello! I hope you haven't forgotten your sunscreen!" Miss Juliana said.
"Last and certainly not least, we have the Gym Leader of the Humilau City Gym, Marlon!" Diane announced.
"This will be a totally awesome Contest!" Marlon said.
"And I'm in no need of an introduction, you may know me as Diane!" Diane announced. The crowd cheered. "Now without further ado, we shall begin with our first Coordinator! Coming all the way from Pallet Town in the Kanto region, we have the lovely Kairi!" Kairi came in her Contest dress. Cameron was stunned to see Kairi in a dress.
"Is that Kairi?!" Cameron exclaimed.
"It is! Pokémon Coordinators usually dresses up in Pokémon Contests, and they also have Ball Capsules with Seals to make their appearance on stage a crowd pleaser," Sora said. Kairi had three of her Pokéballs in Ball Capsules, one being with a pink Heart Seal, one with a white Smoke Seal, and one being a pink Floral Seal.
"Go! Swoobat, Maractus, and Vanillish!" Kairi called out. Swoobat came out in a shower of pink hearts as Maractus came out in pink flower petals as Vanillish came out in white smoke. The crowd were astounded by their appearance on stage. "Maractus! Begin with Petal Dance! Vanillish! Powder Snow! Swoobat! Air Slash!" Maractus started up with Petal Dance as Vanillish unleashed Powder Snow and Swoobat unleashed Air Slash. The three attacks meshed well together, much to everyone's awe.
"Maractus begins with a beautiful Petal Dance as Vanillish adds it in with Powder Snow and Swoobat tops it off with an Air Slash! What else she has in store!" Diane announced.
"Okay, Vanillish! Use Icicle Spear! Maractus! Pin Missle! Swoobat! Heart Stamp!" Kairi ordered. Vanillish fires Icicle Spear as Maractus fires Pin Missle. Swoobat wraps up with Heart Stamp. It erupted in a pink explosion with pink sparkles following the explosion. Everyone were at awe. Meloetta was very awestruck by the sight.
"And Kairi makes an awe-inspiring finale! Now let's hear from our judges and hear what they have to say!" Diane announced.
"The mixture of Powder Snow and Petal Dance is very unique! And the use of Air Slash was timed excellently!" Mr. Basil said.
"Her use of Heart Stamp, Icicle Spear, and Pin Missle has created a lovely explosion, giving it a mixture of beauty and cuteness," Miss Juliana said.
"It was totally awesome! I liked it!" Marlon said.
"Let's all give a big hand for Kairi!" Diane announced. Kairi took her leave of the stage and heads backstage. The rest of the Contest went on as Cameron was seeing some triple performances from all sorts of Pokémon.
"I had no idea they could use attacks like this," Cameron said in his thoughts.
Once all of the Coordinators has done his or her part, it was now time to prepare for the second round of the Humilau City Pokémon Contest.
"And now that we have concluded the appeals round, it is time for the judges to review the results, and see which of our eight lucky Coordinators will be advancing!" Diane announced.
"Okay, the second round's the battle part, right?" Cameron asked.
"Yeah," Terra said. "And the eight Coordinators who made it so far will be decided by the judges."
"And the results are in! Here are the lucky eight Coordinators have advanced!" Diane announced. The results are in as Kairi and seven other Coordinators has advanced to the second round. "And here they are! And now we shall see who will be facing who!" Kairi is having her battle fourth. The first three battles has concluded as Kairi is her having her battle. Her opponent is a girl with brown hair in a long ponytail. She black tuxedo with a top hat. "It's time for battle number four! On my left, it's Kairi! And on my right, it's Andrea! Five minutes on the clock! So go!" Diane announced as the clock starts running. Andrea took out her three Pokéballs and threw them. Her Pokéballs are all in Ball Capsules with Fire Seals.
"Pansear, Simisear, and Vulpix! Go!" Andrea called out. Pansear, Simisear, and Vulpix all came out with erupting flames. Kairi took out her three Pokéballs. She had one of them in a white Line Seal and another in a yellow Star Seal.
"Go! Vannilish, Unfezant, and Emolga!" Kairi called out. Vanillish came out with white smoke as Unfezant came out with a white line and Emolga came out with yellow stars.
"Pansear, Simisear, Vulpix! Use Flame Burst on Vannilish!" Andrea ordered. Pansear, Simisear, and Vulpix all unleashed Flame Burst right at the icy snow Pokémon. Kairi has lost a small sum of her points.
"Wait, Kairi is losing some points even when her Pokémon didn't take a hit?" Cameron asked.
"That's how it works in a Pokémon Contest, Cameron," Cilan said. "Now should see how Kairi responds."
"Emolga! Use Electro Ball on Pansear! Unfezant! Use Brave Bird on Vulpix!" Kairi ordered. Emolga unleashed Electro Ball on Pansear as Unfezant came right at the fox Pokémon and lands a hit, resulting in a single knockout. Andrea has lost a chunk of her points. Pansear gets hit hard by Emolga's Electro Ball, making Andrea lose some more points.
"And Vulpix is down with just one hit! Only Simisear and Pansear remains!" Diane announced.
"Vanillish! Use Icy Wind!" Kairi ordered. Vannilish spins around as she unleashed a cold wind all around. Pansear and Simisear both ends up getting cold. Andrea loses some more of her points. "Unfezant, Emolga! Use Aerial Ace!" Unfezant and Emolga both unleashed Aerial Ace on both of their opponents. Andrea loses some more of her points.
"Kairi is making a good use of her skills in battle!" Marlon said.
"Vanillish! Use Ice Beam!" Kairi ordered. Vanillish fires Ice Beam, and it came out elegantly. It struck Pansear on the mark. "Unfezant! Use Quick Attack!" Unfezant came at Simisear with Quick Attack, and lands a hit. "Air Slash!" Unfezant fires Air Slash at Pansear and Simisear with Air Slash, landing a hit onto the both of them, resulting in a double knockout.
"Pansear and Simisear are both unable to battle, so that means Kairi will be advancing with the other three finalists!" Diane announced.
"Wow, she's not just pretty, but she's also good," Cameron said.
"Rio," Riolu added.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Pika," Pikachu said.
The first battle concluded as Kairi's opponent is a male Coordinator wearing a eighteenth century soldier's outfit.
"And now it is the time for the triple battle between Kairi and Otto! Let the battle begin!" Diane announced as both Coordinators got on the field. The clock starts running. Otto took out three Pokéballs all in Ball Capsules with black Line Seals.
"Go! Durant, Golurk, and Galvantula!" Otto called out as his three Pokémon came out with black lines swirling all around. Kairi took out her Pokéballs and threw them.
"Go! Vanillish, Unfezant, and Emolga!" Kairi called out. Her Pokémon came out the same way as before.
"Galvantula! Use Electro Web on Unfezant! Durant! Use Use Iron Head on Vanillish! Golurk! Shadow Punch on Emolga!" Otto ordered. Each of the Pokémon all landed their hits in each one of their opponents. Kairi has lost points from each hit. "Galvantula, Durant, use Bug Bite on Vanillish and Emolga! Golurk, use Mega Punch on Unfezant!" Galvantula and Durant successfully landed a hit with Bug Bite. Kairi loses some more points. Golurk heads with Mega Punch.
"Use Brave Bird on Golurk!" Kairi ordered. Unfezant came at the automation Pokémon. Unfezant lands a hit onto Golurk, making Otto lose a chunk of his points. "Vanillish! Use Icicle Spear!" Vanillish fires Icicle Spear right at Golurk, dealing some heavy damage due to its weakness to ice. Galvantula and Durant all got struck by Icicle Spear. Otto lost some more points. "Emolga! Use Discharge on Durant!" Emolga unleashed Discharge right at Durant.
"Golurk! Intercept!" Otto called out. Golurk got in front of Durant and took the hit. Golurk wasn't affected by Discharge. Kairi lost a little bit of her points.
"Shouldn't have Golurk taken a hit from Discharge?" Cameron asked.
"No, because Golurk's a Ground Type, so Electric Type moves won't affect Ground Type Pokémon like Golurk," Ventus said.
"That was deliciously clever, using that to his advantage," Cilan said.
"Kairi will turn it around," Sora said.
"Aerial Ace on Golurk! Unfezant! You do the same thing!" Kairi ordered. Unfezant and Emolga both dashed right at Golurk, causing come heavy damage. Otto takes a huge amount of damage to his points. We're at the two minute mark.
"Emolga and Unfezant has landed a serious blow onto Golurk, taking a huge chunk of Otto's points as we are in the two minute warning!" Diane announced.
"Durant! Use Iron Head! Galvantula! Use Bug Bite!" Otto ordered. Durant and Galvantula went in to attack.
"Vanillish! Ice Beam on the ground!" Kairi ordered. Vanillish fires Ice Beam on the ground, making them slip. Durant and Galvantula heads right towards Golurk. "Now use Ice Beam again!" Vanillish fires another Ice Beam, freezing all his Pokémon. Otto has lost a huge of his points.
"Durant, Golurk, and Galvantula are now frozen solid in a case of ice!" Diane announced.
"Unfezant! Brave Bird!" Kairi ordered. Unfezant came at Otto's three Pokémon and they all get struck hard, making Otto lose some more of his points. Golurk, Durant, and Galvantula all were knocked out.
"And it's Kairi who will move on in the final round!" Diane announced. The crowd cheered on as Kairi has won it.
Kairi's final opponent was a young man with lightly tanned skin and and dreadlocks. He wore a red shirt and black pants, and he has piercings on his brow and nose and left ear.
"And now we have our final battle! On my left is Kairi, and on my right is Johnny Steps!" Diane announced.
"Huh, this is gonna be easy," Johnny Steps said.
"Five minutes on the clock and begin!" Diane announced. The clock runs as Johnny took out three Pokéballs all in Ball Capsules with Music Seals, one being red, one being green, and one being orange.
"Go! Kricketune, Kricketot, and Chimecho!" Johnny called out. His three Pokémon all came out with red, green, and orange music notes coming out. Kairi took her Pokéballs out and threw them.
"Go! Vanillish, Unfezant, and Emolga!" Kairi called out. Her three Pokémon all came out to battle.
"Okay, Kricketune! Use your Sing! Kricketot! Use Struggle Bug! Chimecho! Use Hyper Voice!" Johnny Steps ordered. Kricketune puts its scythes together and rubs them against each other. Then, its body starts to glow white and golden music notes come out of its body at the three Pokémon. Kricketot unleashed Struggle Bug as Chimecho unleashed a powerful soundwave.
"Unfezant! Use Air Slash on Chimecho! Vanillish! Use Powder Snow on those music notes! Emolga! Aerial Ace on Kricketot!" Kairi ordered. Unfezant unleashed Air Slash, and it struck Chimecho hard as Vanillish unleashed Powder Snow on the music notes. Emolga darts a hit onto Kricketot, resulting in a one hit knockout. Johnny has lost a sum of points.
"And Kairi takes an early lead in this battle!" Diane announced.
"What?! She took out my Kricketot with just one hit?!" Johnny Steps exclaimed.
"Wow, she's already in the lead!" Iris said.
"Yes, but I would say Johnny has made a poor choice, because Kricketot was not only at a Type disadvantage, but also too inexperienced for battle," Cilan said.
"Kricketune! Use Slash on Emolga! Chimecho! Use Double-Edge on Unfezant!" Johnny Steps ordered. His two remaining Pokémon all charge at the two Pokémon.
"Vanillish! Use Ice Beam on Kricketune! Emolga! Use Electro Ball on Chimecho!" Kairi ordered. Vanillish fires Ice Beam and she freezes the cricket Pokémon. Emolga lands a hit with Aerial Ace, making Johnny lose some more of his points.
"Hey, this isn't supposed to happen!" Johnny Steps exclaimed.
"Okay, Unfezant! Use Brave Bird!" Kairi ordered. Unfezant flew right at Kricketune and Chimecho. She lands a hit onto both of Kricketune and Chimecho. Kricketune has been taken down, and Johnny loses some more points.
"Kairi remains in the lead as Chimecho is faced with three against one!" Diane announced. Johnny looked right at Kairi's Pokémon and he saw how strong they are.
"There's no way I can do this! Unless I try this!" Johnny Steps said in his thoughts. He called out loud, "Chimecho! Use Double-Edge on Vanillish!" Chimecho dashed right at Vanillish.
"Dodge it!" Kairi called out. Vanillish dodged as Johnny grinned. Kairi saw Chimecho was coming at her. She ducked her head out of the way.
"That was too close!" Diane announced. Mr. Basil's expression has changed a little.
"That was close," Aqua said.
"Hope she's okay," Karen said.
"She's fine. It's that guy I have my eye on! He did that on purpose!" Sora said.
"What? Isn't that cheating?" Cameron asked.
"You bet your bandana it's cheating," Sora said.
"Double-Edge again!" Johnny Steps ordered. Chimecho comes at Kairi again with another Double-Edge. He said in his thoughts, "No one makes a fool out of Johnny Steps!" Mr. Basil stood up.
"Stop this battle!" Mr. Basil called out. Kairi ducked again Chimecho kept going and stopped in front of Johnny.
"Hey, what gives?" Johnny Steps asked.
"I'll tell you what gives," Mr. Basil stated. "You are disqualified, that's what gives!"
"What? You can't do that!" Johnny Steps said.
"Yes I can, and I have!" Mr. Basil admonished the male Coordinator. "Using your Pokémon to assault your fellow Coordinator just so you can win is an unacceptable act! That is grounds for disqualification!"
"That was uncool, dude!" Marlon said.
"Respect for one's opponent is what a Pokémon Coordinator should always give to another," Miss Juliana said.
"It appears that Kairi wins by disqualification!" Diane announced. Johnny calls Chimecho back and stepped out.
"Whatever! This Contest is lame anyway!" Johnny Steps said, taking his leave," Johnny Steps said.
Kairi steps before Mr. Basil as she is given her fifth a final Contest Ribbon.
"Mr. Basil is presenting our lucky winner with the promised Humilau City Pokémon Contest Ribbon!" Diane announced.
"Kairi, now that you have all five of your Ribbons, you now qualify for the first Unova Grand Festival! We are hoping big things from you!" Mr. Basil said. Kairi accepts her Ribbon.
"Thank you," Kairi said.
"And now that concludes the Humilau City Pokémon Contest! Until next year, that will be all! And we hope to see you all at Unova's very first Grand Festival!" Diane announced.
"I hate to say it, but even if he was battling fair, he still would have lost to her. Also, I'm kinda glad she won, because I want the pleasure of knocking her out of the Grand Festival, and bring home the gold," Beatrice said in her thoughts.
Once the Contest has ended, Kairi has changed into her regular clothes and rejoined her friends.
"You now have five Ribbons, you can compete in the Grand Festival!" Karen said.
"Yeah. I didn't do it alone, I had all of you with me," Kairi said, looking at her boyfriend. "Especially you, Sora." Sora smiled when she said it.
"That means a lot from you, Kairi," Sora said.
"And now it's your turn," Kairi said.
"Right," Sora agreed. He knew she was right as Marlon sees him and nods. Sora nods back at him. The moment of truth was finally near.
Sora, Kairi, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Cilan, Iris, Cameron, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, Axew, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, and Eclair, Riolu, and Meloetta all made it to the Humilau City Gym for Sora's tenth Gym battle.
"This is it. Sora wins this, and he has ten," Meowth said.
"Yeah. He and Marlon has been looking forward for this. I can tell," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Go get him, big brother!" Karen called out.
"Pika!" Blossom added.
"The battle between the Humilau City Gym Leader and the challenger Sora is about to begin! Both trainers will be using four Pokémon each, so only the challenger is allowed to make substitutions anytime! Choose and begin!" The referee announced as Marlon takes out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Jellicent!" Marlon called out. A male Jellicent came on out as Sora looked at his partner.
"You first, Pikachu!" Sora said.
"Pika!" Pikachu said, entering the battlefield.
"Yeah, Pikachu has the edge because Pikachu's an Electric Type!" Cameron said.
"True, but something about that Jellicent makes me feel uneasy," Cilan commented, stroking his chin.
"You got the first move, Sora!" Marlon said.
"Pikachu! Start things up with Thunderbolt!" Sora ordered. Pikachu sends out Thunderbolt to strike Jellicent.
"Down!" Marlon called out. Jellicent dives in the water to avoid Thunderbolt. Jellicent came back up. "Use Shadow Ball!" Jellicent unleashed Shadow Ball right at the mouse Pokémon.
"Dodge with Quick Attack!" Sora ordered. Pikachu dashed to avoid Shadow Ball. "Now, use Thunder!" Pikachu fires Thunder right at Jellicent, dealing some heavy damage due to his weakness to Electric Type moves. Jellicent shakes around, giving off a pinkish aura. The same aura surrounds Pikachu.
"Jellicent! Use Water Pulse!" Marlon ordered. Jellicent unleashed Water Pulse right at the mouse Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Thunder!" Sora ordered. Pikachu tried to use Thunder, but nothing happened. "Pikachu?"
"Pika," Pikachu said.
"Why isn't Pikachu using Thunder?" Ventus asked.
"It's gotta be Cursed Body," Terra said. "It's an ability that can disable the last move when it hits. A good way to cover weaknesses."
"Agreed. Marlon isn't taking any chances with Sora," Cilan said.
"Jellicent! Shadow Ball!" Marlon ordered. Jellicent fired Shadow Ball and it heads for Pikachu.
"Iron Tail!" Sora ordered. Pikachu sends it back at Jellicent. It came too fast for Jellicent to dodge. "Now, use Thunderbolt!" Pikachu lands a Thunderbolt on Jellicent, taking him out.
"Jellicent is unable to battle! Pikachu wins!" The referee announced. Marlon calls Jellicent back.
"Get some rest, Jellicent. You totally earned it," Marlon said. He looked right at Sora. "You're a lot better than I remember. Now here's my second Pokémon!" He took out a second Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Dreadnaw!" Dreadnaw came on out to battle. "You remember my Dreadnaw, don't you?"
"The same Chewtle that evolved during our last match. How could I forget?" Sora asked.
"My Dreadnaw's gotten a lot tougher since then!" Marlon said.
"What kind of Pokémon is that?" Iris asked in surprise when seeing Dreadnaw.
"It's a Dreadnaw," Aqua said. "It's a Pokémon that can be found in the Galar region."
"I heard a lot about Dreadnaw. They have strong jaws to bite through solid steel," Cilan said.
"Never seen one before," Karen said.
"Sora has one, too. He caught him as a Chewtle when he and Kairi were in the Galar region on vacation," Ventus said.
"That is one cool Pokémon," Camreon said.
"Riolu," Riolu said.
"Okay, Pikachu, don't overdo it. Come back for now," Sora said. Pikachu returns to Sora's side as he took out a Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Serperior!" Serperior came out to battle.
"Switching Pikachu for Serperior is a good move since Dreanaw is a Water and Rock Type," Kairi said.
"Eevee!" Angel said.
"Let's see how he'll stand up to that!" Ventus said.
"Here's a move that's familiar to you, Sora! Dreadnaw! Use Jaw Lock!" Marlon ordered. Dreadnaw gave Serperior a bite on her tail. Serperior yelps in pain..
"What was that?" Cameron asked.
"That was Jaw Lock. It'll prevent Sora from switching Pokémon until it's over," Kairi said.
"That seems unfair," Karen said.
"Preventing a Pokémon switch isn't against the rules," Terra said.
"And here's something new! Dreadnaw! Use Ice Fang!" Marlon ordered. Dreadnaw came at Serperior with Ice Fang.
"Dodge and use Attract!" Sora ordered. Serperior uses Attract onto Serperior and makes Dreadnaw fall in love with Serperior. "Now, use Leaf Blade!" Serperior swipes at Dreadnaw with Leaf Blade, dealing some heavy damage.
"That must have been Sora's plan," Kairi said. "Have Serperior use Attract to make it hard for the opponents to attack!"
"That should make this zesty battle even spicier!" Cilan said.
"Dreadnaw! Try to attack with Ice Fang!" Marlon ordered. Dreadnaw was too immobilized with love to attack.
"Serperior! Use Vine Whip!" Sora ordered. Serperior smacked the bite Pokémon with Vine Whip. "Leaf Blade!" Serperior gave Dreadnaw a hit with Leaf Blade, resulting in a knockout.
"Dreadnaw is unable to battle! Serperior wins!" The referee announced. Marlon called back Dreadnaw.
"Marlon, your Dreadnaw has gotten tougher by the way he used those moves! You must have done lots of work to get that done!" Sora said.
"You know it, Sora!" Marlon said, taking out his third Pokéball and threw it. "Your turn now, Mantine!" His Mantine came on out to battle. "Another blast from the past, Sora!"
"Hey, Mantine! How have you been!" Sora asked.
"Tine!" Mantine beamed.
"Wasn't Mantine another Pokémon he used against Sora?" Ventus asked.
"He was, Ven," Kairi said. "I have to admit, it's good to see Mantine again!"
"You still good to go, Serperior?" Sora asked.
"Ser," Serperior said.
"Great! Use Attract!" Sora ordered. Serperior sends out pink hearts right at Mantine.
"I don't think so! Bullet Seed!" Marlon ordered. Mantine fires Bullet Seed and they take out the hearts. "Now, use Wing Attack!" Mantine came flying at Serperior.
"Use Leaf Blade!" Sora ordered. Serperior tried to land a hit, but Mantine came too fast for the regal Pokémon to land a hit. It was a super-effective hit for Mantine's favor. "Now use Bubble Beam!" Mantine fires Bubble Beam at the serpentine Pokémon, resulting in a knockout.
"Serperior is to battle! Mantine wins!" The referee announced. Sora calls Serperior back and he looked at his partner.
"Back to action, Pikachu," Sora said.
"Pika," Pikachu nodded as he returned to battle against Mantine.
"Mantine is a Water and Flying Type, so it's a good match-ups for Mantine!" Karen said.
"Pika!" Blossom said.
"Yeah, but don't overestimate Pikachu's chances," Terra said.
"Since Pikachu came back in, Cursed Body has no hold! Pikachu Thunder!" Sora ordered.
"Dive in the water!" Marlon called out. Mantine dove in the water again to dodge Pikachu's attack. Mantine jumped back out a second later. "Use Psybeam!" Mantine fires Psybeam and struck Pikachu hard. "Bullet Seed!" Mantine fires Bullet Seed and he fell in the water. Pikachu floats on his back, knocked out.
"Pikachu is unable to battle! Mantine wins!" The referee announced. Sora helped Pikachu out of the water. Pikachu shook himself dry.
"Easy! You're going to get me wet," Sora said.
"Pi," Pikachu said.
"Don't worry about it. You did your best," Sora said. He looked right at Mantine as he said in his thoughts, "That Mantine is way stronger than the last time. Plus, he can dive in the water to avoid my attacks." Sora then realized something about Eelektross. "Eelektross is the only Pokémon who can swim that isn't a Water Type! That works to my advantage!" He took out a Pokéball and threw it as he called out, "Go! Eelektross!" Eelektross came out to battle.
"You came ready with another Water Type! Gotta give you props for your good thinking!" Marlon said.
"Another Electric Type! Looks like a good win for Sora!" Camreon said.
"He has something up his sleeve," Cilan said. "I wonder what."
"Okay, Eelektross! Use Thunderbolt!" Sora ordered. Eelektross fires Thunderbolt right at the manta ray Pokémon.
"Dive to dodge!" Marlon called out. Mantine dove in the water. Sora grinned.
"Thought you'd try that! The water's no longer your only advantage! Eelektross! You dive in the water!" Sora called out. Eelektross jumped in the water to swim. That it struck Cilan.
"Of course! Eelektross can swim in the water despite being an Electric Type Pokémon! That's what he had planned!" Cilan said.
"Huh? What's that supposed to mean?" Cameron asked.
"Sora figured out how to use the water to his advantage. He knew Eelektross could move in the water, so now it's an even match!" Kairi said.
"Well, I don't know what that's supposed to mean, but he's gonna win it!" Cameron said.
"You might be using the water, too, but underwater is where Mantine's most at home!" Marlon said.
"Same for Eelektross!" Sora said.
"Use Bullet Seed!" Marlon ordered. Mantine fired Bullet Seed right at Eelektross, but he dodged it by squirming.
"Thunder Punch!" Sora ordered. Eelektross lands an electrified punch onto Mantine, resulting in paralysis. "Now, use Crush Claw!" Eelektross swipes at Mantine hard. Mantine lands on one of the platforms.
"Mantine, use Bullet Seed!" Marlon ordered. Mantine fires Bullet Seed at Eelektross.
"Dodge and use Crunch!" Sora ordered. Eelektross lands a Crunch onto one of Mantine's wings. "Now use Thunder Punch!" Eelektross gave Mantine a Thunder Punch, finishing him off.
"Mantine is unable to battle! Eelektross wins!" The referee announced. Marlon calls back his Mantine and he smiled.
"That was awesome, Sora! You got loads of moxie! And using underwater to your advantage was genius! But here's one more blast from the past," Marlon said, taking out his fourth Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Wailord!" His Wailord came on out as the rest of the group were awestruck by the large Pokémon.
"Wow, a Wailord!" Ventus said.
"It's even bigger than I thought!" Karen said. Kairi looked right at Wailord.
"I know that's the same Wailmer from the Whirl Cup! He must have evolved later after that!" Kairi said.
"Is that Wailmer? He evolved, didn't he?" Sora asked.
"He sure did! He evolved a little while after the Whirl Cup! And you know what that means!" Marlon said.
"Yeah, I do!" Sora said. He knew Wailord has gotten so much stronger since the Whirl Cup; and him as a Wailmer wasn't to sneeze at. He figured he could use Wailord's size and speed to his advantage. "Okay, Eelektross! Back in the water!" Eelektross dove back in the water. Marlon smirked.
"Thought you try that! And here's what you forgot!" Marlon stated. Sora winced when he remembered something.
"Oh no! Not that!" Sora gasped.
"Wailord! Use Whirlpool!" Marlon ordered. Wailord created a whirlpool and Eelektross gets caught in it. Wailord lowers himself in the water. "Okay, use Hydro Pump!" Wailord fires Hydro Pump, forcing Eelektross out. He lands back in the water, resulting in a knockout.
"Eelektross is unable to battle! Wailord wins!" The referee announced.
"Sora sure walked into that one," Terra said.
"I forgot his Wailord knows Whirlpool. He used that trick back at the Whirl Cup when he was a Wailmer," Kairi said.
"That means it's going to get even harder for Sora in this last round," Karen said. Sora calls back Eelektross and took out Dewott's Pokéball.
"Okay, here is my fourth and last Pokémon! Go! Dewott!" Sora called out. Dewott came on out to battle Wailord. "Dewott! No matter what, stay out of the water!"
"I remember that trick! You tried it with your Poliwrath! Not gonna work! Use Whirlpool!" Marlon ordered. Wailord unleashed Whirlpool and the platforms all get caught in it, along with Dewott. The discipline Pokémon goes for a whirl in the whirlpool.
"Dewott!" Sora called out. Dewott kept spinning around and around. Dewott had to hang in there, so he willed himself to keep on going, resulting in his sudden evolution. As he was evolving, Dewott shot himself out much to everyone's awe.
"Dewott's evolving!" Terra said.
"Pika!" Thor said.
Dewott has now become a Samurott. The newly evolved Samurott lands right on Wailord's back.
"Wasn't expecting that to happen, but it was awesome!" Cameron said.
"Rio!" Riolu said.
Wailord shook Samurott off his back, so the samurai otter Pokémon lands on a platform
"I wasn't expecting your Dewott to evolve into a Samurott, but it was awesome! But will it be enough! Wailord! Use Whirlpool!" Marlon ordered as Wailord unleashed Whirlpool again.
"Aqua Jet!" Sora ordered. Samurott used Aqua Jet to land a hit on Wailord's side. "Now use Sacred Sword!" Samurott took a Seamitar and swung it like a katana and struck Wailord hard. "Now, use Razor Shell!" Samurott took another Seamitar and used both Seamitars to strike the float whale Pokémon. "Now, use Water Pledge!" Samurott raised both Seamitars as pillars of water erupts from the battlefield and struck Wailord. It resulted in a splashing explosion.
"Wailord!" Marlon called out. Wailord has been knocked out.
"Wailord is unable to battle! Samurott wins! The winner is the challenger!" The referee announced as Cameron was awestruck.
"So awesome! No wonder he's the Pokémon League Champion! He's amazing!" Cameron said. At first he regretted letting Sora go first, but he got to see the epic battle before him. Marlon called back Wailord and he smiled.
"That was totally sweet, Sora!" Marlon said, walking up to Sora. "You're a whole lot stronger than you were when we duked it out back at the Whirl Cup! I remembered that you would earn yourself a Wave Badge if it was an official Gym battle, and that's what it was!" Marlon presents Sora a badge that is shaped like a raindrop with waves in it. "And here it is! Proof that you beat me fair and square, the Wave Badge." Sora accepts his tenth Gym Badge.
"Thanks a lot, Marlon," Sora said. "I have to admit, you almost had me before my Dewott evolved into a Samurott."
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
Everyone were about to head for the Pokémon Center to have Pikachu, Samurott, Serperior, and Eelektross healed.
"It was awesome seeing you again, Sora. And when you get to Alola, give that Lana my best; from one Gym Leader to another!" Marlon said.
"I will," Sora said.
"Now that you have ten Gym Badges, I thought it'll interest you to know that the Unova Pokémon League is going to take place in Vertress City," Cilan said.
"Your bud's right, Sora," Marlon said. "The Unova Pokémon League is just months away, so you still have time to get ready."
"Right," Sora said.
"Also, I thought it'll be cool if you knew the Unova Grand Festival is taking place at Harmony City. It's just on the way to Vertress City; also the Grand Festival is taking place in two months," Marlon said.
"That works out for us just fine," Iris said.
"It sure does," Sora said. "That's more than enough time to get set." Marlon looked right at Cameron.
"I know you're stoked about having our battle, but you're gonna have to wait until tomorrow," Marlon said.
"After seeing you two battle, I'm even fired up even more!" Camreon said. "I plan on giving it all I got!"
"That's the spirit!" Marlon said.
Now that Sora has earned ten Gym Badges and Kairi has won five Contest Ribbons, the couple will be meeting their goals, but Kairi's is closer than Sora's goal, but it was more than enough time. This is where we will draw for a close for now. Until the next chapter.
