Summary: This isn't a traditional one-shot fanfic. There is no plot, no dialogue and no drama. Instead, this will be kinda like an essay about a topic related to the Harry Potter series.
The Cullens Could Drink Human Blood
Introduction: The Cullens are "vegetarian" vampires, feeding off animals instead of humans. They are in the minority, though, as almost all other lone and groups of vampires (with the possible exception of the Denali coven) drink human blood, picking their meals indiscriminately. How could the vampire's diet work in humanities favour?
It is well established in the series that Edward Cullen's gift is reading the thoughts of humans and vampires. The Cullens chose to live in America, a country where 1% of its population is in prison (A.N: Please forgive me if that figure is incorrect). Some people are in jail for minor offences, like stealing something of limited value or driving while intoxicated. Others are imprisoned for major offences, like rape, assault, paedophilia, or murder.
The Cullens could come up with some excuse to visit prisons (e.g. giving a talk on rehab services), giving Edward plenty of time to read the inmate's thoughts and find out what their crime is. They could have set criteria for their meals (paedophiles, rapists, child beaters, child molesters, etc. Murderers may or may not make the list due to the "non-vegetarian" vampires being murderers themselves, as none of their meals survives the experience) and, once Edward had selected the inmates fitting those criteria, the Cullens could come back at a later date when they were hungry. They could break into the prison, take all the selected meals out (making it look like the inmates escaped), and feed on them at their leisure while ensuring to dump the bodies far away from both their home and the prisons their victims were incarcerated in.
The Cullens would gain guilt-free access to human blood, knowing they were helping clean up humanity, and the other people wouldn't become victims of the criminals upon their release. They would also be less likely to be attacked by other vampires if the Cullens made a system out of acquiring human blood.
