Episode 489: What Genesect Can Do
After the whole blackout incident, Cynthia had returned and the group filled her in about the whole situation involving the rogue Dragonite.
"I see," Cynthia said. "The blackout in the entire city was all an accident. Dragonite only caused the blackout because of an injury from another Dragon Type Pokémon; a Hydreigon. He was only protecting a flock of Pidove."
"Luckily for us, Iris was able to calm him down before got ugly," Ventus said.
"It would have been an uglier situation if we haven't come back to show Officer Jenny the footage," Karen said.
"It does make sense for Dragonite to do that because he has never shown any interest in fighting anything weaker than himself," Cynthia said. She looked at Iris with a smile. "You did a great job at calming Dragonite down. You would make an excellent Dragon Master when you grow older." Iris smiled at being praised by Cynthia.
"Thank you, Cynthia," Iris said.
Later that night, Ventus and Sparky were resting in the room they were sharing when Iris walked in.
"Ven, you awake?" Iris asked.
"Yeah, I'm awake," Ventus said. Iris walked in.
"Just wanted to thank you for helping out today," Iris said. "You didn't have to do that."
"I had to. Besides, I didn't want Dragonite to get more hurt than he already was," Ventus said.
"Weren't you scared? Iris asked. Ventus shook his head.
"No," Ventus said. "There were scary Digimon we dealt with, and they didn't scare me. Even Sakkakumon tried and failed."
"You're a real brave kid, aren't you?" Iris asked.
"Not always," Ventus said. "When I was really little, I used to be afraid of the dark, a lot. So scared, I used to sleep in my mom and dad's room all the time. That was until Sora was over one night, so he slept in the same bed as me and helped me get over my fear. I even told him about some monsters in my closet, and Sora said, monsters won't scare you if you aren't sacred of them. And it worked. Ever since then, I wasn't scared of anything anymore."
"All the same, you're really Sora's cousin," Iris said. "Sora wasn't afraid of anything, so I figured you weren't either. I thought there would be some exceptions, but I was wrong. And the way you helped defend Dragonite is proof how brave you are." Ventus smiled as Iris rubbed his head.
On the next morning, Kairi was preparing for the Grand Festival with Angel, Vanillish, Unfezant, Liepard, Swoobat, and Emolga. Vanillish has gotten so better, Vannilish has now evolved into a Vanniluxe.
"That was great, everyone!" Kairi said. Dawn was watching closely.
"You haven't lost your touch, Kairi!" Dawn said.
"Thanks a lot, Dawn," Kairi said. "I'm surprised you haven't been taking part in any Contests in Unova."
"I'm sort of taking it slow," Dawn said. "Work on my dream of becoming a Top Coordinator, just like my mom." Kairi smiled.
"Your mom would be proud of you, Dawn, even if you haven't made Top Coordinator or not," Kairi said. "Don't forget, she was watching you on TV."
"I know," Dawn said. "But, I won't give up. I plan on giving it my all and make it to the top!"
"I believe you can, Dawn," Kairi said. Dawn smiled.
Meanwhile, a Genesect is wondering through the woods, as a Pokémon Hunter is tracking it down. He has six Coalossal with him.
"That Genesct has got to be around here somewhere!" The Pokémon Hunter said. "Those guys are paying big money for its capture!" Genesect was shivering with fright.
Back at the villa, Iris approached Kairi with an odd request. After hearing how Ventus was able to get over his fears, she knew she had to try the same thing. She had to bite the bullet and go for it.
"Kairi, there's something I wanna ask you. It's a huge favor," Iris said.
"Sure, what?" Kairi asked. Iris took a huge gulp and she took a deep breath.
"I was wondering if you could help me handle Ice Type Pokémon?" Iris asked. Kairi blinked twice.
"Huh?" Kairi asked.
"I would like you to help me with my fear of Ice Type Pokémon," Iris said.
"Is that all?" Kairi asked.
"Yeah. That's it," Iris said. "I wanna be able to handle Ice Type Pokémon, so I'll never have to be afraid of them again. It's kinda like when you helped Cilan get over his fear of Purrloin."
"Cilan's afraid of Purrloin?" Dawn asked.
"It's a long story," Kairi said.
(Flashback)
It was a short time before Purrloin evolved into a Liepard.
"Kairi, you sure you wanna help me out like this?" Cilan asked, not sure it'll work.
"It's a good as start as any, Cilan," Kairi said. "All it takes to get started is by taking one step forward. And you have to keep walking forward and forward." Kairi handed the brush to Cilan as Purrloin beamed at being brushed again. "Okay, Purrloin. Assume the position." Purrloin got on Cilan's lap as his whole face turned pale as he shook. He fainted from the feeling of Purrloin on his lap. Kairi sighed as she turned to Angel. "Maybe it's as easy as I thought, girl."
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Well, I won't give up on him," Kairi said.
It took Kairi several tries to get it done. And they all ended up in the same results. Kairi kept trying to help Cilan get over his fears of Purrloin.
"Kairi, I-" Cilan was about to speak when Kairi spoke up.
"Not another word, Cilan," Kairi said. "We have to see this to the end. Besides, it was your idea."
"I suppose you are right," Cilan said.
"Now, let's try again, Cilan. Look at Purrloin. Look at how cute she is," Kairi said.
"O-O-Okay," Cilan said. He started to look at the little cat Pokémon. He was shaking like a leaf in autumn.
"Look directly at Purrloin. You don't see anything scary about her, do you?" Kairi asked. Cilan kept looking at Purrloin as his shaking decreased. He looked at Purrloin right in the eyes. Cilan could see the cuteness in Purrloin's eyes. His heart started melting as he went up to Purrloin, never taking his eyes off her for a second.
"What I see..." Cilan said.
"Yes?" Kairi asked. She was getting anxious if it was working or not.
"What I see..." Cilan said. He then started to go in his Connoisseur Mode. "What I see is a pallet of cuteness! The sharpness in Purrloin's eyes shows a hint of playfulness, with a dash of cleverness! The smell on Purrloin gives her an aroma of a bed of flowers, pleasing to the nostrils. Your Purrloin is a shining example of adorableness and intelligence! A perfect blend of flavors!" Kairi applauded Cilan.
"Does that mean you're not afraid of Purrloin anymore?" Kairi asked.
"It was thanks to you, Kairi! You have a unique gift when it comes to Pokémon! I thank you for helping me take that one step!" Cilan exclaimed.
"You're welcome, Cilan," Kairi giggling.
(Flashback ends)
"If I could do that for Cilan, I could do that for you, Iris," Kairi said.
"You don't know how much this means to me," Iris said.
"But, we'll need Sora's hand in this as well," Kairi said.
Kairi told Sora about Iris's situation with Ice Type Pokémon. Sora exchanged Leavanny and Crustle for Beartic and Cryogonal. It was quite a challenge since they found it wasn't easy for her. It took a few hours and several tries to help Iris, but they had to try. As they kept on trying, Iris was starting to show some improvement. It went on right on until Iris was fully over her fears of Ice Type Pokémon. It was like her fears didn't matter to her one bit.
"I did it! I'm not afraid anymore," Iris said.
"Feel better, Iris?" Sora asked.
"Yes, I do," Iris said. "All thanks to you. Thank you, thank you, both!" Sora and Kairi both smiled.
In the next morning, Sora, Riku, Lucas, Barry, Cilan, and Iris were training for the Junior Cup when Officer Jenny came by the villa again.
"Good morning, Cynthia. I'm sorry to bother you so early in the morning," Officer Jenny said.
"Not at all," Cynthia said. "How can I be of assistance?"
"We have gotten word that a Pokémon Hunter has been seen in the area," Officer Jenny said.
"A Pokémon Hunter? Around here?" Barry asked.
"Yes," Officer Jenny said, holding up a mugshot. "This hunter goes by the name of Hot Cole. He has six Coalossal with him."
"Coalossal. That's a Rock Type and a Fire Type, right?" Iris asked.
"Yes," Officer Jenny answered. "He was spotted by one of our surveillance cameras not too long ago. I thought I could use your assistance in capturing him."
"I would be glad to assist you, Officer Jenny," Cynthia said.
"If there's a Pokémon Hunter here, then I'm going to bet my Connoisseur license that there's an extremely rare Pokémon in these parts," Cilan said.
"If there is, then we should find it first, whatever it is," Sora said.
"We might have a much better chance in finding it, if we work together," Lucas said.
"I agree," Cynthia said. "Only if that's okay with you, Officer Jenny."
"After their help with Dragonite, I'm more than willing to welcome any help coming my way," Officer Jenny said.
"Wonderful," Cynthia said.
With that said, Sora, Kairi, Karen, Riku, Naminé, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Cilan, Iris, N, Lucas, Dawn, Barry, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, Axew, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, and Eclair all went with Cynthia and Officer Jenny to search for Hot Cole and the mystery Pokémon that has hit his radar.
The group has split up to cover more ground. Sora, Kairi, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, N, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, and Eclair went one way as Riku, Naminé, Cilan, Iris, Lucas, Dawn, Barry, Eevee, Azurill, and Axew went another way.
"Whatever it is, it's gotta be around here somewhere," Ventus said.
"Pika," Sparky said.
"You sure about that, Ven?" Karen asked.
"I think so," Ventus said.
He didn't know how right he was, because Genesect was hiding in the shrubs. Over to Riku, Naminé, Cilan, Iris, Lucas, Dawn, Barry, Eevee, Azurill, and Axew, they kept their eyes open for any signs of Hot Cole and the mystery Pokémon as Barry tripped over something.
"Oomph!" Barry yelped as he fell.
"You okay, Barry?" Naminé asked.
"Yeah. Just tripped over this root," Barry said, noticing something sticking out of the ground. "I'm no biologist, but even I know tree roots aren't made of metal."
"What did you find?" Cilan asked.
"Don't know," Barry said, pulling the object out of the ground. It turns out to be a small metal box with a secured lock. "What could be inside?"
"Maybe it's something someone stole," Iris guessed.
"Or it could be something someone lost," Naminé said.
"Maybe we should have Officer Jenny have a look at it when we hand it to her," Riku said.
"You sure that's a good idea?" Lucas asked.
"Well, we can't leave it here. If someone stole it, then we should turn it in, right?," Barry said.
"Barry has a good point," Cilan agreed.
"We can worry about that after we find that guy and that Pokémon," Riku said.
"Right," Barry said. A Joltik jumped onto Barry's back, startling him. He tossed the box in the air. "Get it off! Get it off!" He rolled on the ground as the box busts open, releasing its contents. They look like four cassettes. One is red, one is yellow, one is blue, and one is light blue.
"You are such a little kid," Iris said.
"Jeez, Barry, you could have killed someone doing that," Lucas said.
"Wasn't my fault! Something jumped on me!" Barry said as the Joltik scampered off.
"It was only a Joltik, Barry," Riku said. He spots something on the ground. "What the?"
"What?" Lucas asked. Riku walked to the cassettes and picked the yellow one up.
"Any idea what these are?" Riku asked.
"There is something familiar about them, but I can't put my finger on it," Cilan said.
"Eevee," Eevee said.
"You're right Eevee. Worry about that later," Riku said, putting the cassettes in his backpack. "Let's go."
With that said, Riku, Naminé, Cilan, Iris, Lucas, Dawn, Barry, Eevee, Azurill, and Axew continued their search.
Back to Sora, Kairi, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, N, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, and Eclair looked around. Terra then found what looks like some sort scratches on one of the trees.
"Guys, look!" Terra said. "Something has been here, and just recently."
"That partly confirms Cilan's theory," Karen said. Meowth looked down at the ground and sees some footprints.
"And there's more!" Meowth said. "Look at those footy prints!"
"These were made very recently," N said.
"That has got to be the Pokémon that left these," Sora said. He makes contact with Riku on his Xtransceiver.
Over to Riku, he answered it.
"You find anything, Sora?" Riku asked.
"Yeah. We found what looks like a claw mark, and some footprints. It came the way we're looking," Sora said. "What about you? You find anything?"
"No. Just glad one of us found something," Riku said.
"That makes two of us," Sora said. "We'll follow the footprints and let you what we found. Over and out." He cuts contact with Riku. Sora, Kairi, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, and Eclair followed the tracks left on the forest floor.
Over to Hot Cole, he spots the tracks and he grinned.
"Beautiful," Hot Cole said. "It's close. I can fell it in my gut." He took out a net gun. "Okay, Coalossal, spread out and find it." The coal Pokémon all searched for any signs of Genesect.
Speaking of which, Genesect was so frightened of the world it was in. Nothing was familiar to it. It was like it was in some kind of strange alien world.
"I wanna go home." - Genesect subtitle.
Over to Hot Cole, he receives a call on his smartphone. He answered it.
"Yo," Hot Cole said.
"You find the Genesect as of yet?" A man's voice asked.
"Not yet, but I'm closing in on it as we speak," Hot Cole said.
"Excellent," the man said. "I'll be doubling the price for it."
"That's mighty generous of you," Hot Cole said. "I'll make contact as soon as I have captured it. That'll be all for now." He broke contact as he followed the trail.
Sora, Kairi, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, N, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, and Eclair were getting close just by how fresh the footprints were getting up ahead.
"Almost there," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
They finally reached the cave the Pokémon was hiding in.
"Hello in there!" Sora called inside. "You don't have to be afraid of us." Genesect's eyes are seen. "Come on out." Genesect didn't budge one bit. "Okay, I'll just come in." Sora took a few slow steps forward. "Letting you know I'm not going to hurt you." Sora got a good look at the Pokémon and saw it was a Genesect. "What the? Now, this I wasn't expecting."
"Sora, what is it?" Karen asked.
"You guys have got to see it to believe it," Sora said. Kairi, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, N, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, and Eclair all walked inside and saw the Pokémon in question. Genesect backed away.
"A Genesect!" Ventus said.
"How did you get out?" N asked. Everyone all looked at N.
"You know this one?" Aqua asked.
"Yes. Genesect is a Pokémon that has been extinct for three hundred million years. It was resurrected from the fossilized remains of Genesect by Team Plasma's scientists. They were given those weapons on their backs upon their creation," N explained.
"Team Plasma brought Genesect back?" Sora asked.
"Yes," N answered. "How did you know of Genesect?"
"There was a trainer back in the Sinnoh Pokémon League I battled in the first round who had one," Sora said. "Han I think his name it was." He looked at N. "Any idea on how he gotten hold of one?"
"No," N said, shaking his head. "I have left Team Plasma some time before you arrived in Unova. I don't know any Han."
"That doesn't sum it up," Ventus said.
"But I know this one. It was the newest one created before he left. This one is still young," N said.
"Better let Riku what we found," Sora said. He made contact with Riku. He answered his Xtransceiver.
"What's up, Sora?" Riku asked.
"Riku, we found what we're looking for," Sora said.
"You did? That's great! What is it?" Riku asked.
"It's a Genesect," Sora said. Riku, Naminé, Cilan, Iris, Lucas, Dawn, Barry, Eevee, Azurill, and Axew were stunned to what Sora had claimed.
"You sure about that, Sora?" Riku asked.
"Yeah, I'm sure," Sora said.
"How do you know?" Riku asked.
"We're all looking right at it," Sora said.
"And it seems scared for some reason," Kairi said.
"It could only mean that Genesect is the Pokémon that Hot Cole has been looking for," Cilan said.
"All we have to do is protect it," Ventus said.
"Right," Sora said.
"Sora, where are you?" Riku asked.
"Near a cave," Sora said.
"Okay, I'll let Officer Jenny know about this," Riku said. "Just keep a close watch until we get there."
"On it," Sora said. "I'll let you know if something happens." Riku broke contact with Sora.
Over to Riku, he makes contact with Officer Jenny as she and Cynthia are in a police jeep. Jenny's Xtransceiver goes off as she answers it.
"Jenny here," Officer Jenny answered.
"I just made contact with Sora, and he found the Pokémon in question," Riku said.
"What kind of Pokémon is it?" Officer Jenny asked.
"Sora said it's a Genesect. I know it sounds crazy since Genesect has been extinct for millions of years," Riku said.
"You are right, it does sound crazy. It might be a hoax," Officer Jenny said.
"Something tells me it isn't a hoax since Hot Cole might be out looking for it," Lucas said.
"Besides, I doubt he could be clever enough to come up with this himself," Cilan said.
"I agree. And there are news of Genesect being sighted lately," Cynthia said. "Where is Sora right now?"
"At a cave in the woods. It shouldn't be too far," Riku said.
"We'll check it out," Officer Jenny said. "In the meantime, keep your eyes open for Hot Cole."
"Right," Riku said. He broke contact with Officer Jenny.
Back to the cave, Genesect was too scared to move away from the cave, and too scared to stay.
"It's okay, we won't hurt you," Sora said. Genesect looked right at Sora. It didn't take long until Hot Cole and Coalossal came around.
"Tar Shot!" Hot Cole ordered. The Coalossal fired their hot tar at the group. "Gotcha right where I want you, Genesect!"
"What do you think you're doing?" N asked.
"My job! And my job is to bag and tag that Genesect! I have a customer who is paying a lot of money for that beauty!" Hot Cole said.
"Sorry, but Genesect isn't going to be for sale today or any day!" Sora said.
"Yeah, and how do you plan to stop me?" Hot Cole asked. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"With this! Samurott, go!" Sora called out as Samurott came on out to battle. Sora turned to Genesect. "I'm going to protect you. I promise."
"Coalossal! Use Tar Shot!" Hot Cole ordered. The Coalossal fired tar at the formidable Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Razor Shell!" Sora ordered. Samurott took his Seamitars and swung them at Coalossal. All six are struck hard by the attack. Steam then raises from their bodies.
"Use High Horsepower!" Hot Cole ordered. The Coalossal all charged at Samurott at an increased speed. They all landed a hit onto him. Hot Cole laughed. "Stupid kid! When my Coalossal all share Steam Engine! It's an ability that boosts the speed of Coalossal when hit by a Fire or Water Type move!"
"Then, try this! Sacred Sword!" Sora ordered. Samurott swung his Seamitars at the Coalossal, dealing some damage. "Coalossal has a weakness to Fighting Type moves, and Sacred Sword is it!"
"You just got lucky, kid! Even if you could take one of them down, you still have to deal with five more, and one of them might just get lucky!" Hot Cole said. Karen stepped in.
"How about we make it harder for you to do it!" Karen said. She turned to Blossom. "Blossom! Go!"
"Pika!" Blossom said, stepping in.
"Double Kick!" Karen ordered. Blossom lands Double Kick onto one of the Coalossal. "Now use Thunderbolt!" Blossom shocked the Coalossal. Kairi stepped in.
"I can't let you two siblings have all the fun!" Kairi said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Swoobat!" Swoobat came on out to join Samurott and Blossom. "Swoobat! Air Slash!" Swoobat sends out Air Slash at one of the Coalossal. "Use Heart Stamp!" Swoobat fired Heart Stamp at another one.
"Thanks for the save," Sora said.
"Anytime," Karen said.
"You would do the same thing for us," Kairi said.
"How sweet, you little brats think you have a chance against me! As if! Coalossal! Use Tar Shot on that Pikachu and Swoobat!" Hot Cole ordered. The Coalossal fired Tar Shot at Blossom and Swoobat.
"Use Razor Shell!" Sora ordered. Samurott swung his Seamitars at the tar, cutting them. "Your job might be to catch Pokémon and sell them for money, but it's my job to make sure nothing like that happens here, because Pokémon are not for making money! They are living creatures! And if you want to get to Genesect, then you will have to go through me!"
"That's what I have in mind! Coalossal! High Horsepower!" Hot Cole ordered. The Coalossal all charged at Samurott, Blossom, and Swoobat.
"Garchomp! Dragon Rush!" Cynthia ordered. Garchomp darts right at the Coalossal with Dragon Rush, dealing some damage against them. "That is quite enough!"
"Who the hell do you think you are?!" Hot Cole exclaimed until he got a good look at Cynthia. "Wait a second! You're Cynthia, the Champion of Sinnoh!" Officer Jenny rushed to the side.
"And you are under arrest for Pokémon poaching!" Officer Jenny stated.
"As if I'm going to listen to you!" Hot Cole said. "Coalossal! Get those bitches!"
"Samurott! Sacred Sword!" Sora ordered. Samurott swung his Seamitars at the Coalossal, dealing some damage on them. "Don't get distracted, hot head!"
"Why you spiky-headed, snot-nosed little punk! I'm gonna break every bone in your body!" Hot Cole hissed.
"Blossom! Use Thunderbolt!" Karen ordered. Blossom lands a Thunderbolt onto the Coalossal and Hot Cole himself.
"Swoobat! Use Psychic!" Kairi ordered. Swoobat places the Coalossal on top of each other with Psychic. "Wrap it up, Sora!"
"Water Pledge!" Sora ordered. Samurott unleashed Water Pledge at the Coalossal. Sure Steam Engine increases their speed, but they would also take heavy damage. Water erupts from underneath as Riku, Naminé, Cilan, Iris, Lucas, Dawn, Barry, Eevee, Azurill, and Axew sees the water attack.
"What was that?" Barry asked.
"Either that's a really good water show or that's Sora!" Riku said.
Hot Cole and his Coalossal has been both been taken down. Genesect was amazed and awestruck by what has happened. Officer Jenny arrested Hot Cole and his Coalossal.
"Thank you all for your help," Officer Jenny said.
"We were happy to help," Cynthia said. Officer Jenny drove off with her prisoners as the group turned to Genesect.
"You won't have to worry about that guy for a while, Genesect. The best you can do is to go now," Sora said. Genesect shook its head. "Huh? No?"
"Genesect is saying it wants to stay with you, Sora. It saw how you were fighting to protect it, so it wants to get stronger by staying by your side," N said. Sora turned to Genesect.
"You sure, Genesect?" Sora asked. Genesect nodded.
"I think Genesect has made up its mind," Cynthia said. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it. Genesect flows inside it. The Pokéball wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Sora's Pokémon Box goes off asking him if he wants to keep Genesect with him. He chose to keep Genesect in exchange for Cryogonal.
"Welcome to the team, Genesect," Sora said.
The young Genesect has now joined Sora's team, and has a new trainer and friend. Things will get even more excited as we continue on.
