21 Under The Dome

Dani was right, today was not her day. Today was the day the Fright Knight and his new army invaded Amity. They were tearing the town apart, but so far no one had been hurt. They were looking for something and when Plasmius dragged Dani from her school, out onto the football field she knew her day was just going to go from bad to worse. But as it turned out Plasmius was not here to fight her. Quite the opposite in fact, they took on the hoards of skeleton soldiers heading for the school together.

"You're helping me?" Dani asked blasting down what looked like it had probably been a roman soldier. These skeletons, like the ones that had once guarded the Fright Knight's resting place were disfigured. The had arms almost twice as long as they should, spines with extra vertebra, and fangs down to the bottoms of their chins. Many of them were armed though none of the armies were more modern than medieval knights, in fact most of them looked older than that. Dani was just glad none of them had guns, that would have made this significantly harder.

"I'm not a monster Danielle." Vlad said as he slammed a wave of pink energy into an oncoming soldier, disintegrating it entirely.

"Maybe not, but you'll never admit your own mistakes." Dani caught his flinch out the corner of her eyes. He knew that she knew he had something to do with this. He didn't admit it though. They were interrupted before he could, by the Fright Knight himself arriving. His Nightmare reared and snarled, flame spurting from its nostrils.

"Return the kings property this instant!" He demanded pointing his blade at Vlad. He spotted Dani and growled. "And you whelp! I will have my vengeance upon you for sealing me away again." Dani swore under her breath.

"Where the fuck are we supposed to get a pumpkin this time of year?" Dani muttered under her breath.

"I don't have it. But if we were to band together…" Before Vlad could finish his sentence a blast of pink knocked the Fright Knight off his horse. A cry echoed over the field.

"Get the hell out of my town spook!" The Red Hunter called from behind a smoking gun.

"He's actually rather good at this." Vlad sounded confused as another blast of pink sailed into the Fright Knight causing a sizable crater to crack out underneath him.

"I know right." Dani sounded vaguely proud. "Problem though, he thinks we're the enemy." She was proved right when the gun in Vince's hand pointed next at Plasmius. Dani took a moment to think about what she should do before swearing and swooping over to Vince her hands raised in surrender. She could barely see his eyes narrow beyond his visor. He tensed but didn't aim his blaster at her.

"What do you want?" Vince asked, his voice harsh. Dani grinned slightly, hiding how much it hurt. She wanted Vince to like her, as Fenton and Phantom, but that was probably never going to happen.

"As much as I would love to see you kick Plasmius's ass, he's not the problem right now." Dani said, eyes flicking over the battle field. She dove under Vince's hoverboard, firing into the oncoming crowd of skeletons. She was surprised when pink laser fire joined hers.

"What is the problem right now?" He asked glancing behind them. Plasmius was covering their backs as the Fright Knight struggled to his feet. Vince's attacks had done some damage. Dani shot Vince a questioning look. He shook his head. "I don't trust you or your spooky friend but something's going down here." Dani nodded.

"I'm not asking you to trust me, just fight with me. We're on the same side here." Before Vince could respond the Fright Knight regained his feet, his voice booming across the football field.

"You are all fools to oppose the Ghost King! My mission was to retrieve the ring and withdraw but since the Kings property has not been returned I have no choice." He drew his sword and the skeletal soldiers pulled back. Dani stepped between the Knight and Vince, her back to the Hunter. But the Knight made no move to attack. Instead he spoke his voice echoing up to the ridge where most of the school had gathered to watch the fight. "By the powers vested in me by my lord and liege, I do hereby claim this town under the banner of Lord Pariah, King of All Ghosts!" As he finished his sentence he drove the sword into the turf of the field. Dani lunged to stop him but was blasted out of the air with the force of the wave of power the sword emitted. She slammed into the base of the goal post which bent. But she wasn't the only one. Vince had been thrown off his hoverboard into the stands and everyone on the hill watching was thrown to the ground. Only Plasmius escaped, having the presence of mind to turn intangible as the power blasted out of the sword.

The whole town, which had already been on high alert from the infiltration of an army of skeletons, stood and watched in horror as red lights bloomed from above Casper High and spread rapidly over the town. The lights touched down at the edge of town, cutting Amity Park off from the rest of the world. Screams echoed as people pointed up at the blood red dome glowing above them. It pulsed with a power of its own. Kyle glanced at Dev. The coroner had been at the precinct to deliver his notes on the remains the police had gathered from the few skeletons they'd managed to defeat. He hadn't been much help, he wasn't an archaeologist or an ectologist. All he could really tell them was the bones were old, should probably have decayed away long ago, but without real ghostly knowledge he couldn't tell much more. Except that the army only had skeletons from up to around the fourteenth century. No era after that was represented, at least that was what Kyle and a local historian had come to agree on.

"This is gonna be really bad isn't it?" Kyle asked and Dev nodded already heading to his patrol car. He needed to get to Casper High, that's were the power had come from. He was surprised when Kyle hopped into the passenger seat, pulling a Fenton Blaster out from his bag.

"Where did you get that?"

"Your closet. Drive Devlin, you're gonna need back up for this one." Kyle said flicking on the blaster and rolling down his window so he could aim at the ghosts they passed. Dev couldn't help the slight smile as he gunned the engine and set off towards the school where the power had originated from.
