Episode 498: The First Unova Grand Festival Part 2
Last time, Sora, Kairi, Riku, Naminé, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Cilan, Iris, Pikachu, Eevee, Angel, Meowth, Axew, Azurill, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, Eclair, the Mane Six, Spike, Starlight and the Young Six said their goodbyes to Cynthia as she returns to Sinnoh to carry on her duties as Champion as Kairi has registered for the Grand Festival. The Grand Festival makes a good start as three hundred Coordinators has each gave their performances, but only thirty-two has made the cut as Kairi is among the thirty-two Coordinators. All that is left is the second round of the Unova Grand Festival.
That night, Sora, Kairi, Riku, Naminé, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Cilan, Iris, Pikachu, Eevee, Angel, Meowth, Axew, Azurill, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, Eclair, the Mane Six, Spike, Starlight and the Young Six all celebrated Kairi's success in making it pass the first round. Kairi exchanged Unfezant, Liepard and Swoobat for Mandibuzz, the female Jellicent, and Mienshao.
"What do you have planned for the first battle, Kairi?" Applejack asked.
"I was thinking of using Jellicent, Mienshao, and Mandibuzz for the first battle," Kairi said.
"Why them?" Iris asked.
"If I end up against Klaus first,
"Well, there is Munchlax and Snorlax since both are Normal Types, and it's common knowledge Fighting Types has an advantage over them. But, it'll prove to be a bad ingredient for your part since Ghost Type moves won't effect them.
"You're right, but that won't stop me," Kairi said.
"That sounds like someone else I know," Iris said, looking at Sora.
"Axew!" Axew said.
"We're with you all the way, Kairi," Pinkie Pie said.
Kairi was a lucky girl to have such supportive friends, especially a supportive boyfriend.
Meanwhile over in Team Shadow HQ, a Team Shadow peon entered Mateus's office.
"Excuse me, Master Mateus," the Team Shadow peon spoke. "We have detected some sort of strange energy reading."
"A strange energy reading, you say?" Matues asked.
"Yes, sir. With your permission, we would like to investigate this matter," the Team Shadow peon said.
"Very well. Report your findings to Ein," Matues said. The Team Shadow peon said.
Over in Ein's lab, Ein was training with the Kyurem clones when a knock is heard.
"Enter," Ein said. A Team Shadow peon entered through.
"Mr. Ein, we are ready to investigate Kanto whenever you're ready," the Team Shadow peon said.
"Very well," Ein said. "We shall depart at once." He looked at the Team Shadow peons in the lab. "Keep an eye on these four, and make sure they don't get loose."
The lab staff nods as they understood as they kept watch of the Equestrian villains. Ein and his squad ventured to the helicopter port to depart for the Kanto region. As the helicopter took flight, it flew over a herd of Stantler and a Pokémon that is gray in color, sporting white sections around its hooves that have small tufts of fur sticking from behind its legs. It also has a large amount of fur, particularly around its tail and face, with the latter looking not unlike a beard. It has a brown nose, white eyebrows, droopy ears, and large horns with segmented sections. Its horns have two black orbs, making the horn pattern resemble a pair of eyes. This kind of Pokémon is known as Wyrdeer. They were grazing in the grasslands. Also, there are a pack Growlithe whose fur is dark orange-red, while its mane, muzzle, and tail are light grey. Its mane covers its eyes and extends below its head, ending with three curls. Its ears are round and square with light orange-red interiors. It has a small horn in its head and its tail is curly. In a lake below is a long fish-like Pokémon with green skin and a black streak along its back. It sports white fins with its dorsal fin having three spines. Around its body is a red smoke that forms into facial "hair", eyebrows, and spots on its body. This red smoke also fully engulfs its tail and creates a streak across its body. This Pokémon is known as Basculegion. The Basculegion came out of the water and floats upwards.
On the next morning in Harmony City as the Grand Festival has begun the second round of the Unova Grand Festival. As a reminder to all of the Coordinators, all of the battles will be triple battles, so Kairi has her team all set up.
"Now that we are here to begin round 2 of the first ever Grand Festival here in the Unova region, we have our thirty-two remaining battles! So, let's see who will be facing who!" All of the mugshots of the Coordinators are now displayed as the computer shows the thirty-two battles. "Now, let's shuffle!" The mugshots are shuffled as it shows Kairi's opponent is Klaus as Hilda, Rosa, Atticus, Beatrice, and Hector all have different opponents. Kairi and Klaus's battles will be the fourth battle while Atticus's will be second, Beatrice's will be third, Hector's will be sixth, Rosa's will be ninth, and Hilda's will be sixteenth.
The first battle has concluded as Atticus has unleashed an Abomasnow, Togetic, and a Simisage against a Sawk, Throh, and Primeape. Beatrice unleashed a Cloyster, a Kecleon, and a Vaporeon against a Gastly, a Haunter, and Gengar.
During the matches, the Mane Six, Spike, Starlight, and the Young Six understood what their friends meant by points.
"Kairi's match should he up next," Silverstream said. "I can't wait!" The hippogriff was getting excited.
"I'm also wondering how Klaus handles himself in battle," Cilan said.
"And now, it's time for battle number four! On my left, it's Kairi, and on my right is Klaus!" Diane announced.
"Good luck to you, Klaus," Kairi said.
"Danke schön, Kairi. You too. Give me vhat you got," Klaus said.
"Five minutes on the clock and begin!" Diane announced as the clock starts running. Kairi took out her three Pokéballs in Ball Capsules, one being with a blue Foamy Seal, one being with a yellow star Seal, and one being with a black Smoke Seal.
"Go! Jellicent, Mandibuzz, and Mienshao!" Kairi called out. Jellicent, Mandibuzz, and Mienshao all came out with bubbles, stars, and black smoke surrounding them.
"Go! Lickilicki, Snorlax, und Swalot!" Klaus called out. Klaus threw his Pokéballs being in Ball Capsules with lime green Seals. His three Pokémon all emerged with lime green music notes following them. Swalot! Stockpile und Spit Up! Snorlax! Body Slam! Lickilicki! Use Power Whip!" Swalot began with Stockpile and then fired Spit Up at Kairi's Pokémon.
"Jellicent! Take Spit Up and Body Slam, then use Bubble Beam on Lickilicki! Mandibuzz! Use Bone Rush on Swalot! Mienshao! Double Slap on Snorlax!" Kairi ordered. Jellicent took the hits from Spit Up and Body Slam, so the Normal Type attacks does nothing as Jellicent fires Bubble Beam onto Lickilicki Mandibuzz came at Swalot with Bone Rush, landing a hit as Mienshao gave Snorlax a couple of slaps, making Klaus lose some of his points.
"Klaus makes a shakey start with Kairi pushing back at him!" Diane announced.
"Gott im Himmel! She's more amazing than I thought!" Klaus said. "But, I won't be taken down that easily! Swalot! Sludge Bomb on Mienshao! Snorlax! Thunder Punch on Mandibuzz! Lickilicki! Lick on Jellicent!" Swalot fired Sludge Bomb right at Mienshao as Snorlax came at Mandibuzz with Thunder Punch, and Lickilicki extends its tongue right at Jellicent. Mienshao, Mandibuzz, and Jellicent all were struck, making Kairi lose some points before Kairi could tell them to dodge. "Snorlax! Body Slam on Mienshao!" Snorlax grabbed Mienshao and pressed its body down on the martial arts Pokémon. Kairi has lost some more of her points in the process.
"And Klaus is pushing back!" Diane announced. Klaus's Pokémon kept up the onslaught onto Kairi's. The clock runs down to three minutes and forty-five seconds.
"Mienshao! High Jump Kick! Mandibuzz! Use Dark Pulse! Jellicent! Use Shadow Ball!" Kairi ordered. Mienshao jumped in the air and came down right towards Lickilicki.
"High Jump Kick is a risky move to use since Mienshao will take a lot of damage when he misses," Iris said.
"Let's hope Mienshao doesn't miss his target," Starlight said. Mienshao lands a perfect hit onto Lickilicki, causing Klaus to lose some more of his points.
"Direct hit!" Spike said.
"It's not over yet, Spike," Terra said. "Kairi has less than three and a half minutes to turn this around." The clock is reaching three minutes and ten seconds as Kairi and Klaus are seesawing the battle.
"Miensho! Aura Sphere! Mandibuzz! Dark Pulse! Jellicent! Use Hydro Pump!" Kairi ordered. Jellicent, Mienshao, and Jellicent fired their chosen attacks all at once. They combined and they struck Klaus's Pokémon all at once as Lickilicki, and Snorlax has taken the heaviest damage. Swalot stood back up as Snorlax and Lickilicki were taken down.
"Snorlax and Lickilicki are both unable to battle, and Swalot is left to keep going!" Diane announced.
"Yee haw!" Applejack cheered.
"Way to go, Kairi!" Sandbar said.
"Gott im Himmel! Snorlax, Lickilicki!" Klaus exclaimed in shock. He called back his two fallen Pokémon and he looked at Swalot. "Swalot! Use Stockpile, und then use Swallow!" Swalot starts with Sfockpile and then used Swallow to recover from its past injuries. "Stockpile, und then use Spit Up!" Swalot uses Stocpile and Spit Up again, sending the attack right at Kairi's three Pokémon.
"Bone Rush!" Kairi ordered. Mandibuzz used the bone to block the attack and sends it back at Swalot, resulting in a knockout. The clock is reading two minutes and forty-five seconds left on the clock.
"And that's it! Kairi will be moving on!" Diane announced. The crowd cheered as Klaus called back Swalot and walked up to Kairi.
"Congratulations, Kairi. You're simply amazing. You were more amazing than I originally believed you were," Klaus said.
"Thank you, Klaus. You and your Pokémon were amazing, too. You have done a wonderful job in raising them," Kairi said.
"Danke schön, Kairi. I am hoping to be in another Contest with you someday," Klaus said. Both shook hands.
All of the other battles has came and went as Hilda, Rosa, and Hector each won their battles.
"And that concludes the sixteen battles we have seen for today! We shall proceed with the eight battles taking place tomorrow morning, same time, same place! Until tomorrow!" Diane announced.
"I hope I get paired with you again, Kairi, because I don't intend to lose to you again like I did back in the Virbank City Pokémon Contest. I'm ready for anything you throw at me," Beatrice said.
That night, Sora, Kairi, Riku, Naminé, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Cilan, Iris, Pikachu, Eevee, Angel, Meowth, Axew, Azurill, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, Eclair, the Mane Six, Spike, Starlight and the Young Six all celebrated with a meal with Klaus joining them for the festivities. Klaus and his Pokémon enjoyed the cupcakes shared by Pinkie Pie.
Meanwhile in the Digital World, Agumon looked up to the sky and he he could see the image of Sora's face in the clouds.
"Sora, I know you haven't forgotten about me, and I haven't forgotten about you. I wish I could see you again, Sora, and have adventures again like we used to," Agumon said.
"We know how you feel, Agumon," Biyomon said. Agumon turned to see Gabumon, Biyomon, Tentomon, Palmon, Gomamon, Patamon, Gatomon, Veemon, Wormmon, Armadillomon, and Hawkmon sitting beside him.
"How long were you sitting there?" Agumon asked.
"Long enough," Patamon said.
"We noticed how much you missed Sora and the others, Agumon," Armadillomon said.
"It's no secret with us," Hawkmon said.
"Because we miss them, too," Wormmon said.
"But, you do know there's a chance that evil Digimon would try to take over like Myotismon tried before, right?" Gabumon asked.
"I know. We owe the future we won to Sora, Kairi, Ven, Terra, Aqua, and the Pokémon," Agumon said.
"You're right about that. The only way we can get into the real world is when Jijimon opens the gateway between our two worlds," Gatomon said.
"The gate between the real world and the Digital World has been closed for months," Tentomon said.
"And we don't know when that'll ever open again," Gomamon said.
"It's not like it's going to open again just because we want it to," Veemon said.
"You're right, guys. They've been a huge part of our lives ever since we met them all in Sinnoh. The Gym battles, Contests, Grand Festival, and Pokémon League was a real thrill for us all," Agumon said as he remembered the Gym battles against the Sinnoh Gym Leaders, and remembered how tough they were, and the Pokémon they encountered along the way.
Just then, Jijimon approached the group of Digimon.
"Good, I found you," Jijimon said. Agumon and the other Digimon turned to Jijimon. "There's something I would like to show you." He leads them to the gateway.
"What's this place?" Agumon asked.
"The gateway between the real world and the Digital World. I have been keeping a constant watch on it ever since it has shut, but then, it started to open again," Jijimon said.
"Does that mean what I think it mean?" Gabumon asked.
"Yes. You can cross over to the real world," Jijimon said.
"We can?!" Agumon exclaimed happily.
"Yes. But, only you twelve can cross through," Jijimon said. "The gateway stated that you can go in and out as you see fit."
"What about Guilmon, Agunimon, and the others? Have you discussed it with them?" Palmon asked.
"Yes. Leomon thought it would make you happy to see Sora and the others again," Jijimon said.
"But, what about the Digital World? Wouldn't it be in danger if we aren't here to protect it?" Tentomon asked.
"You needn't worry, because the Digital World will be in good hands since VictoryGreymon and the others will be helping out. And this is the only one that is opened at the moment, so there is no way to open them from here or from the real world. And the destination will be at random, so make your decision quickly if you want to stay or go," Jijimon said. Agumon and the other Digimon thought for a moment, but Agumon didn't need that much convincing.
"I don't know about you, but I'm going to go," Agumon said boldly. "The real world is calling me."
"Like you're going to go in alone, Agumon. I'm tagging along," Veemon said.
"If you two are going, then so am I," Gabumon said.
"Me too," Biyomon said.
"Me three," Tentomon said.
"Make that four," Gomamon said.
"Right behind you," Wormmon said.
"Agreed," Hawkmon said.
"Darn tootin!" Armadillomon said.
"Count me in!" Palmon said.
"I'm in, too!" Patamon said.
"Even barking dogs wouldn't keep this cat away! And I can bet my nine lives, they won't keep me away," Gatomon said.
"Then, it's settled," Jijimon said as the gateway opened. The twelve Digimon entered on though. "Take care, my friends." The Digimon all screamed as they went through the rift between the two worlds. The Digital Gate opened in a forest just outside Harmony City as the twelve Digimon emerged from inside it. A few minutes later, Agumon opened his eyes and he looked around.
"The real world. We made it!" Agumon said.
A troop of Pansage are watching them from the trees as the other Digimon looked around to their surroundings.
"The real world! We made it!" Palmon said.
"You think Sora and the others are around here somewhere?" Gabumon asked.
"I hope so," Agumon said. He sniffed the air for any signs of Sora. He sniffed the soil. "Sora's scent! He was here recently! It smells old, but it means he's close." Agumon followed the trail as the other Digimon followed him.
Back in Kanto in the Nemesis as Megatron enters the command center.
"Soundwave, report," Megatron ordered.
"Our forces are searching for the Autobots as we speak, Lord Megatron," Soundwave responded. "It is regrettable to report no sign has appeared."
"Send in your Mini-Cons, Soundwave," Megatron ordered.
"As you command, Lord Megatron," Soundwave said. "Laserbeak, Buzzsaw, Squawktalk, Wingthing, Garboil, Sundor, deploy. Operation: Autobot search." Soundwave sends out several bird-like Mini-Cons. The red bird-like Mini-Con leads the others to search for the Autobots.
Meanwhile over to the Ark, Blaster sends out several Mini-Cons of his own. Two are smaller robots with laser guns, but one is blue and one is black. Another is a red rhino-like Mini-Con. Another is a gold lion-like Mini-Con. Another is a tiger-like Mini-Con. Another is a dark brown panther-like Mini-Con. And four more resembles dinosaurs. One is a pteranodon, one is an allosaurus, one is an iguanodon, and one is a brontosaurus.
"Okay, Eject, Rewind, Ramhorn, Steeljaw, Stripes, Graphy, Noise, Dile, and Zaur. Good to see you guys are still functioning after all this time," Blaster said.
"If you thought Soundwave's Mini-Cons are tough, we're just as tough," Eject said.
"That's what I like to hear, Eject. So, how about we go have a look around and keep an eye open for some Cons, guys?" Blaster suggested.
"You know us well, boss-bot," Ramhorn said.
"Then, hop aboard!" Blaster said as the Mini-Cons transformed into cassettes and hopped into Blaster's chest. Blaster then transformed into his vehicle mode and drove off. All of the Autobots except for Perceptor went on patrol to search for any signs of the Decepticons.
On the next day in Harmony City, eight more battles were taking place as the matchups were being decided. Before the battles could begin, Kairi exchanged her entire team, except for Angel for Raichu, Jigglypuff, Sunflora, Chatot, and Vanniluxe.
"Welcome back! If you're just joining us here today, we are now down to sixteen Coordinators and we'll be having eight battles here today! And now we shall see who shall be facing against who today, so here we go!" Diane announced as the computer randomly selects the matches. It turns out that the battle between Kairi and Beatrice will be taking place last as the battle between Hilda and Atticus is going on first. Rosa's battle will be fifth, and Hector's will be seventh. Beatrice didn't care if the battle was first or last, because it was the battle she wanted. Hilda had a difficult battle against Atticus, but she managed to defeated him. He almost had her before she made a comeback on the last minute. Rosa and Hector had some difficult battles with some tough opponents as well. It was now time for the battle between Kairi and Beatrice. "And now, it is time for the last battle of the day! First we have Beatrice, and second we have Kairi! These two young ladies came all this way to the Grand Festival, so only one of them will make it to the final eight, so let's see what these two has planned for us today!"
"At last, the chance for payback has come. Now, to show you what happens if you cross me," Beatrice said in her thoughts.
"I know you wanted this, Beatrice, but you'll be disappointed to lose this battle, because you can't always get what you want," Kairi said. Kairi took out three of her Pokéballs and threw them. The clock starts running. The Pokéballs are placed in Ball Capsules with a yellow EleSeal, a blue Music Seal, and a White Smoke Seal. "Go! Raichu, Vanniluxe, and Jigglypuff!" Her three Pokéballs opened and out came Raichu, Vanilluxe, and Jigglypuff. Raichu came out with yellow electricity, Vanniluxe came out with white smoke, and Jigglypuff came out with blue music notes. Beatrice took hers out, placed in Ball Capsules with hers placed with pink Party Seals.
"Wigglytuff, Ninetales, and Nidoqueen! Go!" Beatrice called out. They all came out with pink confetti.
"Kairi is going to have such a hard time with these opponents," Cilan said.
"Why's that?" Ocellus asked.
"For one thing, Nidoqueen's a Ground Type, so Raichu's electricity isn't going to even tickle it, Vanilluxe is up against a Fire Type, and Wigglytuff is what Jigglypuff evolves into after using a Moon Stone on it," Ventus said.
"And what does that mean exactly?" Gallus asked.
"It means Kairi's at a huge disadvantage," Twilight said.
"Oh no," Fluttershy squeaked.
"It won't be easy for her, and she knows it," Riku said.
"Eevee," Eevee said.
"Nidoqueen! Begin with your Body Press on Raichu! Ninetales! Use Inferno on Vanilluxe! Wigglytuff! Use Double Slap on Jigglypuff!" Beatrice ordered. Nidoqueen came running towards Raichu to press her body against Raichu as Ninetales unleashed Inferno onto Vanilluxe, and Wigglytuff jumped forward to attack Jigglypuff.
"Try to dodge it!" Kairi called out. Raichu, Jigglypuff, and Vanilluxe tried to dodge, but Raichu was struck by Nidoqueen's Body Press as Inferno struck Vanilluxe, and Wigglytuff gave a couple of slaps on Jigglypuff, making her lose a quarter of her points.
"Beatrice makes an excellent start against Kairi's Pokémon; not to mention, her points!" Diane announced.
"Nidoqueen! Use Ice Beam on Raichu! Ninetales! Use Flamethrower on Vanilluxe! Wigglytuff! Use Hyper Voice!" Beatrice ordered. Nidoqueen fired Ice Beam as Ninetales fired Flamethrower. Wigglytuff unleashed Voice, hitting all of Kairi's Pokémon at once. Kairi loses some more points as we're down to four minutes.
"Raichu! Use Thunder Punch on Wigglytuff! Vanniluxe! Use Blizzard! Jigglypuff! Use Rollout on Ninetales!" Kairi ordered. Raichu gave a Thunder Punch to Wigglytuff as Vanniluxe fired Blizzard, striking all three of Beatrice's Pokémon as Jigglypuff rolls right into Ninetales. Beatrice has lost some of her points.
"And Kairi starts to make a comeback!" Diane announced.
"Ninetales! Use Flame Charge! Nidoqueen! Ice Beam! Now!" Beatrice ordered. Nidoqueen fired Ice Beam as Ninetales came running towards Raichu, Jigglypuff, and Vanilluxe. Kairi remembered seeing a fire and ice combo when Dawn battled Ursula, so she figured Beatrice must have been working on a different version of one. Ninetales struck Vanilluxe hard, making Kairi lose some of her points. She then starts to get an idea. She hoped it'll work.
"Jigglypuff! Use Rollout! Raichu and Vanilluxe! Use Ice Beam and Thunderbolt on Jigglypuff while she's rolling!" Kairi ordered. This confuses Beatrice.
"Huh?" Beatrice asked.
Jigglypuff starts rolling and rolling as Raichu and Vanilluxe fired their attacks on the rolling balloon Pokémon.
"Jigglypuff's teammates are firing their attacks on Jigglypuff while it's rolling! I can't tell if it's brilliant or not!" Diane announced.
"Is she trying to throw the fight or what? What is she up to?" Beatrice asked.
"Now!" Kairi shouted. Raichu and Vanilluxe ceased fire as Jigglypuff rolled with a combination of ice and electricity.
"Incredible! Jigglypuff is using a combo of ice and electricity from its teammates! What we're seeing is a Shocking Cold Rollout!" Diane announced.
"Shocking Cold Rollout! I get it! Because it's shocking and it's cold!" Pinkie Pie said.
"That's a new one on me! Spending time with Sora can produce a surprising combination of unique flavors with a delicious result!" Cilan said.
"So awesome!" Silverstream exclaimed.
"And pretty," Yona said.
"Absolutely. Simply devine," Rarity said.
"Also, heavy-hitting, because Rollout gets stronger from each hit!" Meowth said.
"It goes to show you, nothing's impossible," Naminé said.
Jigglypuff rolled into Nidoqueen, Ninetales, and Wigglytuff. All of Beatrice's Pokémon all took a hit from each of Jigglypuff's onslaught. Beatrice was dumbfounded and frustrated by the bombardments her Pokémon and her points were receiving.
"What the hell is going on here?! This isn't how I planned it at all! There's no way she's getting the best of me again! I won't allow it! Nidoqueen! Body Press on Jigglypuff now!" Beatrice ordered. Nidoqueen attempted to stop Jigglypuff, but the balloon Pokémon was rolling too fast to land a proper hit. "Ninetales, Wigglytuff!" Ninetales and Wigglytuff tried to get Jigglypuff, but it was no use.
"Raichu! Use Seismic Toss! Vanilluxe! Use Ice Beam!" Kairi ordered. Raichu grabbed Wigglytuff and gave it a toss and lands a hit onto Ninetales. Vanilluxe fires Ice Beam and freezes both of them. The clock was now down to two minutes.
"We're down to two minutes, and it's not looking good for Beatrice!" Diane announced. Jigglypuff gave Nidoqueen one more Shocking Cold Rollout and it knocks her out. "And Nidoqueen is down!"
"Dammit! Only Wigglytuff and Ninetales are left, and they're frozen solid!" Beatrice exclaimed in her thoughts. Jigglypuff gave another Shocking Cold Rollout and struck both of Ninetales and Wigglytuff, resulting in a knockout. The clock was down to one minute and fifteen seconds left.
"Now it's Wigglytuff and Ninetales that are down for the count! And our lucky winner is Kairi who will be advancing with the other lucky seven!" Diane announced.
"Woo-hoo!" Pinkie Pie cheered.
"Yay," Fluttershy said softly.
"I knew you could turn it around, Kairi," Sora said. Beatrice grits her teeth in anger.
"I cannot believe I lost to her again! I will never forgive her for this! I hope she loses in the next round!" Beatrice hissed, gritting her teeth.
"Now that the eight battles has concluded, we're now down to our final eight! And now we shall see who is against who!" Diane announced as it shows Kairi against Hector in the next round as Hilda and Rosa are having theirs before them.
With Beatrice and Klaus eliminated from the Grand Festival, only Hilda, Rosa, and Hector, remains to be contented with. Kairi knows it won't be easy going on ahead, so let's see how well it goes for her soon.
