It was night time on the Bounty, and the large group was finally disbanding for the night.
Ava and Macy went to Nya's room with her, Axl and Lance went to the Ninja's shared room with Zane and Cole, and Aaron went to the infirmary to keep Jay company. Leaving Clay, Kai, Lloyd and Robin who were in the living room playing a couple of video games. Well Kai, Lloyd and Robin were and Clay was watching.
"Come on Clay, why don't you play a round? It's really fun!" Robin asked as he offered the knight the fourth controller.
Clay shook his head and pushed the controller away from him,"I don't even know how to play this game." He said coming up with an excuse to not play the video game.
Robin moved from his spot on the floor next to Lloyd to in between Clay and Kai on the couch,"It's not hard, I'll show you. This button is your acceleration, this is your brake, this button is your special attack, and this stick here is to make your character steer." Clay still seemed reluctant but he eventually gave in and played one race with them.
Then one race turned into two, then three, and before he knew it he had lost count of how many races they have had. The game was actually fun and not as violent as some of the games he had caught Aaron playing in his free time.
Before he knew it, he glanced at the clock and was shocked,"Alright I think that's enough video games, it's very late."
Kai's head turned to the wall clock and let out a laugh,"Oh you're right, I guess we were having too much fun to notice."
"Can't we just play one more round?" Robin asked, not really wanting to end the fun so soon.
Clay shook his head,"Not tonight, I promise I'll play with you tomorrow, now let's get you to bed." He said standing from the couch and stretching a bit from sitting for so long.
But before the two knights could retire to the Ninja's shared room, Lloyd spoke up,"Hey you know it's kinda late, I don't want you guys waking up the others at this time of night so… you guys want to sleep in my room?"
Robin looked excited at the idea as Clay looked hesitant about the idea,"I don't know, we would have to sleep on the floor." Clay said.
"There's a spare mattress in the hall closet, I'll pull it out and set it up for you and Robin, I'll share a bed with Lloyd." Kai said as pulled Lloyd into a side hug.
Lloyd nodded in agreement, Clay pondered about it a little more before sighing,"I guess it couldn't hurt." Robin grinned as he pulled Clay down the hall by his hand.
"I'll get the mattress, you get some pillows and a blanket." Kai told Lloyd and the two split up to separate closets to the supplies. When Lloyd returned to his bedroom, he saw that Kai had already set down the floor mattress.
With Kai's help they put the sheets, blankets and pillows on the floor mattress as Robin and Clay came out of the bathroom dressed in their pjs. Robin wasted no time climbing into the bed,"Soft…"
The three older boys smiled as Robin snuggled his head into the closest pillow. Clay sat down next to Robin stroking his long peach hair,"And you wanted to stay up longer." He said with a small chuckle.
Robin turned his head to face him,"Because we were having so much, that's the most fun I've seen you have in a long time Clay… I didn't want it to end."
A feeling of guilt rose in Clay, he had been more work-oriented lately but someone has to stop Monstrux. "Like I said earlier, we can play again tomorrow. Now go to sleep, it's late."
Robin closed in tired eyes and muttered,"Mm'kay night…"
Clay pulled up the blanket to Robin's shoulders, "Goodnight, Robin. Sleep well." He said as he lay down next to him.
Lloyd didn't realize he was staring at the two till Kai nudged him, "Let's go get in our Pjs too."
"Okay." Lloyd agreed with a nod as the two went to the bathroom and changed into their pjs. While brushing his teeth, Kai observed Lloyd's expression and sensed something off, his older sibling premonition was tingling.
Kai spit out his toothpaste and proceeded to wash his toothbrush,"Something on your mind Lloyd?"
Lloyd looked away uncertain of whether or not to say something, but he conceded in Kai before so he could again right? He really did need some big brother advice of his own.
"Do you think I'm coming in between them." Lloyd blurted out, his heart squeezing with guilt.
Kai gave the blonde green ninja a bewildered look as he asked,"Who?"
"Clay and Robin. Clay is such a great older brother to Robin and I almost came between it when I learned that I had a little brother." Lloyd said as he washed off his toothbrush and placed it back in the holder.
"But you ARE Robin's older brother Lloyd and you didn't take him away from Clay. He cares for both of you." Kai said as he crossed his arms.
Lloyd dried off his mouth with a towel before speaking again,"No I'm not, Kai, Clay's right pictures are not proof."
"That's not what I'm referring to, Lloyd. Robin's history matches what we've been told, he's adopted is a big red flag, he's the same age as your mystery sibling with the same features as them as well and he's a protege to Spinjitzu just like another boy I know." Kai finished adding a smile on his face at the end,"There's little chance that he's not your sibling Lloyd."
Lloyd let Kai's words soak in but he still felt guilty,"If that's true then what if Robin chooses to stay with us and not go back to Knighton?"
Kai bit his lip a bit as he thought for a moment, that moment felt like hours to Lloyd. What was he going to say? The anticipation was killing him.
"Then we support him, either way. Whether he stays or goes. We can't force him to make a decision but I'm sure Robin will make the right choice." Kai spoke, breaking the silence in the room.
Lloyd was speechless now he didn't know how to respond. Kai wrapped his arms around him and pulled him into a hug,"Don't worry so much about it right now, like I said Robin will make the right choice I trust him." Kai said into Lloyd's ear as he comforted him, "Come on let's get to bed ourselves." He added as they left the bathroom and went straight to bed where Kai held his little brother all night like he did many months ago when Lloyd was still a child.
The morning on the Bounty had been peaceful and calm. Most of the Nexo Knights and Ninja were awake and moving around, Kai was the last one to awaken out of the two groups around 9:30 in the morning.
Kai arose from Lloyd's bed to find Lloyd, Robin and Clay gone. He stretched his arms as he walked out of Lloyd's bedroom and straight to the kitchen to see Zane, Axl, Jay and Aaron were there as well.
Zane was cooking some pancakes with the help of Axl who was stirring the batter in a bowl. Jay and Aaron were sitting at the table, Jay's ankle was bandaged and propped up on a chair next to him while the palms of his hands seemed to have healed and were not bandaged anymore. The two were playing some kind of game on Jay's Nintendo Switch.
Zane was the first to notice him,"Good Morning Kai. I trusted that you slept well."
Kai groaned as he grabbed the coffee pot and poured himself a cup. Jay turned towards him,"You slept in late, how late did you four stay up?"
"Yeah even Clay slept in till 7:00 and he's usually up at 5:00 doing his morning training." Aaron added as he paused their game.
Kai sat down across from the two sipping on his coffee,"We were playing that racing game Lloyd loves so much."
"What you never played that game with me you said it was dumb." Jay said as he pouted at his fellow ninja comrade.
"It kinda is but Lloyd really wanted me to play with him and Robin and I couldn't say no. I gotta keep up my 'Best Big Brother' title." Kai responded then drank the rest of his coffee.
Axl walked over with a tall plate of pancakes,"Would you like some pancakes Kai? Me and Zane made them." He added a smile at the end.
"Sure, thanks." Kai said as he accepted the plate of pancakes and began pouring syrup on top of them.
Aaron wrapped an arm around Jay and said,"Don't worry Sparky, I'll play that game with you later I promise." Jay smiled and laughed a bit, "Oh you're on and you're so gonna lose!"
Kai raised a brow at the two boys, but chose to ignore it as he ate his pancake instead.
