It wasn't long till they arrived on the isolated island, Nya ported the ship onto the dock.
Both Nexo Knight and Ninjas were on the deck when Lloyd made a suggestion, "I think we should send a small group to the tower to see if anyone lives here."
The others agreed and talked amongst themselves debating on who to send. Kai rolled his eyes at the others. Really? Just send one why make this so difficult. "I'll go." The fire ninja volunteered before vaulting off the edge and landing on the nice ground. Thank Ninjago, he was off that boat.
The Nexo Knight leader walked over to the ledge,"Kai, it's dangerous to go alone." Kai let out a small chuckle in reply and began to walk up the steps to the tower saying,"Then follow me tin-head and stop over thinking things."
Clay let out a sigh, this fire ninja was so impulsive. He turned to the ice ninja beside him,"Come on Zane, you found this place only fair you get to come with." Zane nodded in agreement as he followed Clay off the Bounty and up the stairs to the tower where waited for the two impatiently at the top. The fire ninja's arms crossed and he was tapping his foot.
"Finally you two took forever." Kai said, uncrossing his arms.
Clay observed the state of the tower, it seemed old and rundown. Why would anyone make a tower here? There are no civilizations for miles but yet there was one island with a single tower. "This place seems abandoned but it's in an odd location, do you agree?"
Zane wondered the same. Why was this place here? In the middle of nowhere? "Not sure. It may have been an old lighthouse." He spoke his opinion of the tower's origin.
Kai decided to take matters into his own hands and opened the door. Clay and Zane looked at the red ninja's impulsive decision,"Relax guys. You said it yourself, this place is abandoned. Lets just search it and see if there's anything we can use to patch the hole in the Bounty." he said walking inside.
The blue knight and white ninja exchanged glances before following Kai inside the tower. The inside of the tower was filled with piles of mechanical parts, blueprints and old crates of food. "I wonder what they were doing in this tower?" as Clay said as he used his sword to move some cobwebs.
Zane glanced over some blueprints of large mobile weapons,"They must've been building stuff here. These blueprints look like plans for weapons."
"But why build here? There's nothing on this tiny island but this tower." Kai said till they heard a crash from upstairs.
The three raised their heads up before looking at each other, Clay motioned his head to the staircase.
Zane led the way up the staircase, trying to be as quiet as possible, at the top was a trapdoor. He placed a hand on the solid oak as he pushed it open slowly enough to be able to peak inside, once he deemed the coast clear he opened it completely and walked inside the room, Kai and Clay following him.
The room was much different than the previous. It looked like a living area, it had a table, kitchen, bed, a bookcase and a desk with a chair. Someone must've lived here.
A door behind the three opened with a creak, they turned to see an elderly man standing in the doorway connecting his living space to a bathroom.
The elder looked stunned at the three but especially the white ninja as he spoke his name from his lips,"Zane?"
Back on the Bounty
Robin decided to go back to the Communications hub of the ship and work on finishing getting Merlok 2.0 back online. He knew the others would be back soon and it's not like he could do anything about the gaping hole in the ship right now.
As he worked on the wiring for Merlock's hard drive he heard the door open, he looked over his shoulder to see Misako. Not wanting to be rude, he greeted her with a small,"Hi."
Robin returned back to his work but he could hear Misako walk up to stand beside him. "Sweetheart, is there something wrong?" She asked.
"No nothing's wrong." Robin replied as he finished wiring Merlock and stood up. But something was most definitely wrong as he for a split second saw an elderly man standing in the corner of the room dressed in an attire similar to Sensei Wu's wearing the hat Sensei Wu wore along with long braided silver hair.
Robin has kept seeing this man in the corner of his vision every so often, ever since he woke up from accidentally creating that first hurricane. At first Robin thought it was nothing but soon he was seeing this man almost everywhere but when Robin would blink the man would often disappear.
Who was this man? Robin wanted answers but how can he say anything without sounding crazy.
Misako could see the worry in the young peach haired boy's eyes,"Robin you can tell me anything, if you're scared, worried, concerned. I want to know what is bothering you." She said resting a hand on the other's shoulder.
Robin averted his eyes as he fiddled with a screwdriver in his hands. Could he tell her? Could she help? Would she help?,"Miss. Misako, have you ever seen things that weren't there?"
The woman raised a brow,"Can you illiterate a bit more dear? She asked.
He knew he should have never said anything, "Nevermind, I knew it was dumb."
The mother placed a gentle hand on his face and turned his face toward herself so he could see her warm smile, "No please tell me. I am all ears."
Robin took a deep breath before speaking again,"I… I've been seeing things… well a person actually, he kinda looks like Mr. Wu… except he has long hair pulled into a braid and his robes are different."
Misako hummed, thinking to herself,"That does sound a bit troubling, I'll speak to Wu about this. He may know this person."
Robin however looked ashamed still,"I just don't want you guys to think I'm crazy."
"I don't sweetheart, I never have. But it does concern me to be honest, this person sounds familiar…" she trailed off as she thought to herself about the description of the person Robin gave her. Where had she heard this before?
The peach haired boy sighed as he looked outside the window at the others. What would they think of this if Misako told them? Would they be upset? Concerned? Will they think he's lying?
Thousands of scenarios spun around in Robin's imagination but none of them came close to the true meaning behind the man invading his view.
Commotions outside caused the two to emerge from the Communications room and walk down the stairs to the deck to see the others surrounding Kai, Clay, Zane and an older gentleman who looked like some kind of scientist.
The others were all asking questions like "Who are you?" "Is this your home?" "Why are you here in the middle of nowhere?"
The older gentlemen chuckled at their comment,"Zane, your friends are very curious."
Axl raised a brow, "Wait Zane knows this nice man?" The buff oversized knight pointed his finger at the gentlemen in question.
Zane smiled and nodded as he introduced the elder to his other friends," Guys, this is Doctor Julien, my father." The others were shocked at the revelation.
Misako was the first to take the doctor's hand and give it a gentle shake,"Nice to meet you Dr. Julien. I am Misako."
The smile was returned as Julien shook her hand," It's a pleasure to meet you. Nice to finally see some friendly faces."
"Same here, doctor. How did you even get here? This place is at least a full day away from Ninjago." Misako asked.
The professor's face frowned as he spoke,"I was brought here by Lord Garmadon's minions. They forced me to build machinery for them, I never thought I would ever see my son again but the gods truly have watch over him all this time."
"Father." Zane said as he gave him an embrace while the others watched.
However, Robin would be lying if he said he wasn't bothered by Julien's words. Did his father really do this? Kidnap an elderly man and keep his prisoner, forcing him to build machinery.
A friendly hand rested on his shoulder, he looked to his owner to see Clay,"Did you get Merlock fixed while I was gone?"
"Almost, Ava just needs to run some diagnostic tests. He should be running in a couple of hours." The peach haired boy replied.
Clay removed his hand from the other's shoulder as he knelt down to his younger companion's height,"Hey, I'm sorry about before."
"Before?" Robin asked, confused by what his older brother figure was referring to.
"About the whole family thing. I hurt you back in Ninjago when I crushed your hope of ever finding your real family. I should have never done that even if I did not believe at the time that it wasn't true. Honestly, now that I've thought about it I do not blame you for thinking so. Your past, their past, the timelines and events are almost perfect and not to mention that you and Lloyd look similar. But those facts aside Robin I just want you to know that even if they are or not your family I promise I'll help you find them someday." Clay finished his speech and was quickly embraced with a hug by the younger.
Robin rested his head on the older's shoulder,"Well even if I don't I know I always have you, Clay."
Clay smiled as he felt his heart almost melt to the reaction,"No matter what." He responded as he returned the hug.
