May 1920

"Rose, may I come in?" Mr. Van Damme asked after knocking on Rose's star dressing room.

"Yes." Rose said as she turned away from her vanity towards the door.

"Well, Rose, your Titanic effect is wearing off. A few years ago, you were what the crowds wanted, now, you're old news. We had record low sales today." Mr. Van Damme with a small frown.

"Mr. Van Damme I don't understand what you mean." Rose stood up, slightly nervous, looking down at her hands.

"I'm afraid we're going to have to remove your acts from the Van Damme Follies." Mr. Van Damme said with a sigh.

"What!" Rose exclaimed.

"Now might be a good time for me to introduce myself." Rose heard a male voice from behind the door.

"Yes, Tony, come in." Mr. Van Damme said, signaling for a shirt man in a pinstripe suit with dark to enter the room. "Rose, this is Tony Mancini, he's a film agent in Los Angeles."

"Oh..." Rose began. "So you're firing me from the Van Damme Follies, but..."

"Don't worry, sweetheart, if you get paid, I get paid. Mr. Van Damme told me you're living with your sister, her nanny, and the nanny's kid." Mr. Mancini said. Before Rose could interject, he continued speaking. "I'll make sure you make enough to support them."

"Mr. Van Damme, you've given me a second chance. I will never be able to repay you for that. Mr. Mancini, I can't wait to begin our professional relationship." Rose said with a smile, reaching her hand out to shake his.

"My agency won't let me sign a new talent until October, so you can stay in New York until then." Mr. Mancini said with a smile.

Rose had good news and bad news for her family. Rose would have to leave Tzipora, and bring Cora, who was thirteen, with her. Rose was convinced that Joseph and Tzipora would marry so Helga and Einar, who was now eight, would have nowhere to go.

"Rose!" Tzipora immediately looked up when she saw her all through the door. Rose tried to look at Tzipora, but a glittering piece of jewelry on her finger caught Rose's eye. Rose gasped and grabbed Tzipora's hand.

"Tzipora! My goodness! Joseph proposed didn't he!" Rose said as Tzipora giggled. "I thought you didn't want to get married until we could vote."

"That is still very true. However, Joseph and I think that that day will come soon." Tzipora said with a smile. Rose was going to break the news to Tzipora, but Einar and Cora were running up to her.

"Auntie Rose!" The two children shouted at the same time. Rose knelt down to hug them and looked up to see Helga standing behind them.

"My darlings!" Rose exclaimed, squeezing both of them. Rose noticed that Cora had a book under her arm. "What are you reading these days Cora?"

"Joseph found a chemistry textbook for me." Rose said with a proud smile.

"Oh, I have an announcement." Rose said, her face fell slightly. Her four family members looked up at her. "The Van Damme Follies are letting me go to, but I got approached by a Hollywood agent who wants to make me a movie star. I have until October to decide." This was followed by a few minutes of dead silence.

"I hope we get the right to vote before then. I would love to have you in my wedding." Tzipora said with a melancholy smile.

"Can I come with you Auntie Rose?" Cora asked.

"Rose, you're my new partner, you're Einar's mother too. I will go with you." Helga said with a smile, clutching Einar's hand. Rose's eyes began to well up with tears.

"Of course Cora!" Rose exclaimed.

Rose went to the New Brussels Theater one last time. She saw two workers replace the poster that once beared her name. However, when Rose opened the stage door to the theater, she was greeted with the entire cast cheering. Rose saw all of the Van Dames, the Flanagan Sisters, and the soloists she performed with rush towards her.

"We're going to miss you so much." Kate Rhys exclaimed as she gave Rose a hug. "You're always going to be our sister!"

"You really out on a show, you are, indeed, a wonderful dancer." Mr. Steichen said with a small smile.

"Thank you." Rose said with a smile.
