Besides my original characters, the other characters do not belong to me (I'll name them when they appear). I am not making any money off this story, and am merely writing Fan Fiction.
I hope you enjoy Soul Land: Generation Talents Journey :)
Unfortunately, school has been more busy than I expected. I'm not sure when I'll be able to post again. Hopefully, sometime before Christmas.
"Apples?" Zu Que thought about it for a brief moment. "I remember that we got a few baskets of apples that should last us for a long while if they don't rot before then, but you should know better than me...you were the one who went and bought them,"
"That's right, but they were quite rotten already. Not worth our spirit coins if you ask me," Gu Yan Ling tossed an apple over to Zu Que who swiftly caught it, only tripping a few times before standing up straight again. She examined it a few times before looking back up to Gu Yan Ling's gleaming face. "Let's get something more worthwhile,"
"The apples? This one seems fine."
Gu Yan Ling didn't wait for an answer, already beginning to walk away. She only looked back a few times to gesture to Zu Que who followed after some hesitation.
The dry grass crinkled underneath their footsteps as they made their way through a forest then switched to small taps as they rushed through the city. "Where are we going?" Zu Que whispered once again. Gu Yan Ling had constantly referred to their little trip as just a time to just get some better apples, but who would ever believe these words. It was only when they made their way near a fancy looking house, a series of words near its door that Zu Que understood what was happening. "You can't be serious." Zu Que said, turning to Gu Yan Ling, knowing full well that she likely was.
"Am I ever?" Gu Yan Ling said, still speaking as though she were joking as she always did. "What did you think I was going to do?"
"Teacher Cao said to just leave them alone."
"He's always been like that," Gu Yan Ling retorted, wrinkling her nose in distaste as she cast a glance at the house again. "Never cares to defend himself nor us in these sorts of situations. Always afraid to provoke the ire of others. I for one can't stand losing any sort of dignity, especially to some so-called prestigious school,"
"We really don't want to mess with them. We both have barely left our home in the village, all of us. What if the Blazing Academy really has enough resources to...end us,"
"What a boring choice of words," Gu Yan Ling suddenly grasped Zu Que, holding her by the forearms. "Remember his spirit rings? There's no one who can beat him!"
"There's a lot of them, but I heard these academies take their pride very seriously. What if they call backup? This is obviously one of the houses owned by the Blazing Academy, probably for resting nearby Ping Ling Kingdom or something similar. There might be ones from the other Five Elements Academies as well. Even if not them, they could get help from even bigger fish like Spirit Hall, the Heaven Dou Empire..."
"Again, boring." Gu Yan Ling gave her a nudge on the shoulder. "Earlier you were doing "nothing", right? Then, this is my nothing. And whatever you were doing I'm doing so whatever Im doing you're doing,"
"Yan Ling..." Zu Que couldn't find a way to retort such a...a meaningless battle of words.
Gu Yan Ling smiled, quickly activating two of her spirit abilities. Two yellow rings flared up. Before Zu Que could even say another word, Gu Yan Ling had already begun running around the house. Her steps were fast and agile, but what followed after seemed to be trembles that shook the ground as though a herd of horses were following with her. It made for an incredibly strange scene, but Zu Que didn't think too much on that before activating a spirit ability as well. A purple ring rose around her along with her spirit which seemed to press so closely behind her that the wings of the Vermillion Bird seemed to be her own, lifting her up off the ground. Her third ability: Soaring Ascension. It aided her flight ability and speed abilities which were attributes she needed most of all at the moment. However, no matter how fast she could be, it seemed that Gu Yan Ling was always in front of her.
They didn't chase each other for long as the lights in the house soon lit up as well as Gu Yan Ling headed in another direction which Zu Que soon followed. "Catch!" Gu Yan Ling called out, not throwing anything, but looking up briefly to make eye-contact.
"What?"
"Me, of course!" She suddenly leapt towards a tree, propelling off the trunk and heading towards Zu Que in the air. Too slow to process what had happened, Gu Yan Ling had crashed into Zu Que, both of them tumbling to the ground in a heap. "Heavens," Gu Yan Ling said, rubbing her head slightly. Several twigs and leaves had gotten into her hair, making a mess of that ponytail she had when she greeted Zu Que. "I said catch not crash." Getting up, she dusted herself off, pulling out some of the twigs with one hand and extending the other to Zu Que who shakily took it, still reeling from the fall. "It's alright though. Your third ability was really quick, almost able to touch the tips of my hair."
Ignoring her praise, Zu Que looked back at the house already some distance away. "What just happened?"
"We went there, and now we're gone. Let's go back,"
"So, you just ran around the house because?"
"Because I wanted to. And now I really want to return back to Little Village Academy," She shook her head right after, muttering under her breath about how awful the name was. "Let's go sis, we really shouldn't dally," Already dragging Zu Que by the wrist, Gu Yan Ling activated her second ability once again, not waiting to explain anything. Zu Que chose to go with it, activating her third ability to help with the journey. They had spent most of the night just travelling to the house, but hadn't used much spirit power before at Gu Yan Ling's insistence, leaving them with more on the way back. However, they soon were stopped in their tracks by a set of flames.
