Back with a new chapter, I had no idea it would be this long.
One soundtrack that came into my mind while picturing this chapter would be Tom Holkenborg's 'We do this together' hence the title. Have a listen with this chapter hehe.
Sorry for any grammar mistakes I've missed.
Please enjoy and review.
Update since 20/1/21 - A review from FrnzJsf has been addressed at the bottom.
Chapter 7: We do this together
The group watched as Spider-Man ran up the wall, and web zipped his way down the street.
Yumiko gawked at his confusing stunt. She asked the others, "Did he just bail on us? He left us?"
"No. He left me to look after you guys." Kakeru said. He had a finger to his ear, answering the call from Spider-Man after he left them. "He said go back to the Yukioshita's place."
Hikio, still having a scowl on his face, turned back to the group. He opened up the bag he carried. "Miura."
Yumiko got to her partner. "We still got our civilians here." She motioned at Hikigaya and Yukino.
"Follow Tobe, get them out of here. Keep the comms live and keep them safe. I'll meet you back at the condo." Hikio pulled put his mask and fitted it on his face. The red eyes glimmered in the dim alley, sending a cold touch on Yukino's skin seeing him wearing it for once. He took out his grapnel launcher and faced Yumiko, "I'm counting on you Miura."
Yumiko firmly nodded. Hikio raised his gadget and fired the grapnel onto roof. The line pulled him up fast and hard, launching him into the air. With a front flip, Hikio landed on the roof with a roll.
Far up ahead, the streets of Chiba were filled with screams from civilians running for their lives. Spider-Man, launching himself higher up in a web line, spotted the billowing smoke. He shot another line and swung forward getting closer to the source.
"Goddammit, looking at all this hurts already." Spider-Man pulled on his line. "Some kind of terrorist act?"
He landed on an abandoned sedan and scanned the wreck around him. The road had debris all over, a couple of car and lampposts had been flipped over and knocked down. At the center of the rubble and destruction, there was a hulking giant.
He was nearly twelve feet tall, stomping around with grey plating all over his body. Only his Caucasian face was exposed, and he looked immensely irate. There were a pair of horns on his head, thick and nasty. Grey skins, horns on the head, and a grumpy face. All of those features gave the obvious theme this guy had. A Rhino.
"Oi." Spider-Man called him. The hulking mass turned and spotted him, his face immediately puffed red.
"Oh look who it is! The web-creep! In new threads huh!?" Rhino bellowed.
Spider-Man remained perched on the car, he did not answer his foe. So many other things were running through his mind.
"Who the hell is this? What did he just say?" Hikitani-kun thought, he really wished he knew English right now, "A jock in a Rhino armour wrecking the streets? One disaster after another."
"This is Japan? What am I doing here? Did you put me here huh web-freak?!" Rhino taunted, but Spider-Man had no idea what he was saying, "Got nothing to say? Where're your jokes huh?"
As much as Spider-Man wanted to tell this giant Rhino that he did not speak English, he did not want to risk looking like an idiot. His head started blaring hard, his Spider-Sense alerted him to turn around. Up in the sky, something was diving down right for Spider-Man.
A bald man in a tight green outfit with down feathers on his collar. He had huge man-sized bird wings attached to his arms, and a metallic case on his back emitting a hum. The bald head, down feathers on the neck, and the wings, all of that made the flying man look like a buzzard, or a Vulture.
The Vulture swooped in right for Spider-Man.
"Dammit!" Spider-Man's reflexes saved him in a split second as he side-flipped off the car narrowly dodging the Vulture's attack.
"Your time has come Spider-Man! Now you will suffer greatly!" The Vulture cackled in the air.
Once he landed on the road, Spider-Man's sixth sense burst in his head once more. He lunged forward in an attempt dodge whatever his Spider-Sense warned him of, but it was not enough. From the side, a ring of blast wave clipped Spider-Man's legs and the Web Slinger careened on the road.
"Aargh!" Spider-Man yelled, his bones rattled as he rolled down the hard road.
"Lil' bug gettin wiped off the road, ain't that a pretty sight." Another man stepped forward with a chuckle. He was in a scarlet and mustard colored padded suit, with a yellow balaclava and green visor. His arms sported metallic gauntlets, they glowed green and vibrated violently. The man, the Shocker, slammed his fists down and a shockwave exploded around him, rumbling the immediate ground around him.
Spider-Man quickly got up to his feet. While he was shaking the pain off, Hikitani-kun's mind was exploding with panic. "What the f- What is this?! Are who these guys?!"
His spider-sense blared again. He jumped back in a sloppy flip, avoiding a glob of bright green splattering on the ground. Spider-Man landed rough on the road and saw the source. A man in a bright green outfit. All was covered in green except for his mouth, he also wore goggles with gold lenses. The most outrageous feature on him was the massive mechanical tail on his back, poised in a curl with a razor sharp stinger at the end. It was obvious the man was taking the theme of a fellow arachnid, a Scorpion.
"Gonna sting me a spider!" Scorpion shouted, his tail aimed at Spider-Man and it fired a glob of green. Spider-Man had to lunge forward dodging that splotch of goo splattering on the road. His spider-sense went off again, but in his panicked state he could not dodge away in the air. From behind, a large Russian man tackled Spider-Man.
"Aarghh!" the Webslinger's face was slammed into the ground. The Russian man pinned him down, taking one wrist in a lock behind his back. The Russian man had a beard, he wore a sleeveless brown leather jacket with leopard print pants. His chest hair was thick like a carpet. He had a long machete and a spear tied to his back along with a boomerang tied to his waist.
"Foolish spider. You cannot evade the hunt," the Russian man leaned in to taunt Spider-Man, "even the most elusive prey will fall to Sergei Kravinoff. Kraven the Hunter!"
Kraven gripped Spider-Man's arm tighter, pushing him into the road harder. Spider-Man's heart hammered in his chest, adrenaline surged through him. He brought his other free hand out and aimed at Kraven on top of him. With his trademark gesture, Spider-Man shot a web at Kraven's chest and yanked him off his pin. Kraven was pulled off and landed some distance away from Spider-Man.
Spider-Man's frantic heart would not calm down. Before he could recover from the onslaught, a tremor shook around him. Followed by another, and another. Spider-Man could not get away in time when a force smashed him into the ground again. Each of his limbs were clamped tight in a metallic three clawed vice. Each clawed hand came from an elongated mechanical appendage. Spider-Man was hoisted up in the air. The four mechanical appendages came from the back of yet another man. He wore a brown trench coat with sunglasses and had a bowl haircut.
"I do not know how you put us in Japan arachnid but I knew you couldn't resist when there is destruction on the street. Your meagre thought process is ever so transparent, falling for Dr Octopus' trap like a moth to the flame." Dr Octopus smirked, his tone showed finesse and standard, though Spider-Man could not understand any of it. Spider-Man's limbs were pulled hard as Dr Octopus' mechanical arm held him up, the others gathered and Spider-Man was surrounded.
Rhino, Vulture, Shocker, Scorpion, Kraven, and Dr Octopus.
"Behold the Sinister Six!" Dr Octopus declared with arms out. The others roared out in malicious victory. Hikitani-kun shouted out in panic, he tried yanking his arms out free but Dr Octopus' mechanical arms tightened.
Rhino stomped a foot down rumbling the earth, "Put him on the ground! I want to squash him now!"
"Step away Rhino." Kraven stepped in front of the grey giant. "It is the alpha male that finishes the hunt."
"In ya dreams leopard boy!" Shocker got in the way, "I'm blastin the bug into smithereens!"
"We will share the fun gentlemen," Vulture said, "We can start by finding out if this spider can fly."
"Screw that shit! I want to see if this piece of turd will bleed like a stuck pig after I pump him full of poison!"
"Enough. All of you." Dr Octopus took the lead, silencing them all. Spider-Man could not make sense of what they were saying, but he could only imagine whatever torture these guys he were talking about. He shouted out in a panic as he struggled to get free.
Dr Octopus smirked, "Like Vulture said, we will all enjoy in the spoils of our victory over the arachnid. However, let us start with the biggest one. Let us see who is behind that mask." His hand raised up, getting closer to Spider-Man's face. Now Hikitani-kun knew what they were going to do. His whole body shook side to side in any attempt to free himself. The Sinister Six had smiles twisted with evil watching Spider-Man squirm.
Before Dr Octopus' hand could get an inch closer, however, he shrieked out when pain exploded in the back of his shoulder. The shock from the pain in Dr Octopus caused his mechanical arms to open, dropping Spider-Man on the floor. Everyone was caught by surprise. Spider-Man looked up, a barbed hook had penetrated Dr Octopus' shoulder and blood was leaking down from the wound. The nasty hook was attached to a monofilament. Further back, everyone saw the source of the attack. The Sinister Six saw the black and red shrouded ghoul, snarling his teeth at them. He stood on an abandoned SUV, holding the grapnel launcher which its hook had stabbed into Dr Octopus.
The Huntsman activated the taser function and jolts of electricity surged through Dr Octopus and convulsed with no control. He turned on the reel, Dr Octopus was yanked off his feet and Huntsman threw him over his head crashing into the road away from them. The rest of the Sinister Six could not react to the new enemy in time when smoke erupted around them.
"What the?!" They all clamoured about, they were completely blinded in the smoke. The Shocker had a gauntlet clad fist right across his jaw knocking him down onto the road. Vulture got knocked his feet from a sweeping kick.
Spider-Man heard Huntsman whispering beside him, "Go. Now."
The two shot a web and a grapnel line, they pulled themselves out of the smoke onto a rooftop and they took cover.
"Are you ok?" Huntsman asked as he crouched down making himself less visible.
Spider-Man rubbed a bruise on his chest and patted the dust off his mask. Huntsman had a rare concerned look with his frown.
"Next time don't just evade and freeze. Plan and react." Huntsman said, but the Web Slinger did not respond. He grabbed his shoulder. "Hey talk to me."
"Yeah…" Spider-Man took a deep breath, "Yeah I hear you. I got it."
"Do you know them Spider-Man? They seem to know you well. They were talking all sorts of things about you."
"You know English?" Spider-Man turned his head to him, "What were they saying?"
"You want the long version or short version?"
"…short version."
"They want to kill you."
Spider-Man had a knot in his gut hearing that. He shook his head, "Figures."
"Maybe the Magician brought them here into this world. You said you have made enemies in your world."
"I've never seen them before!" Spider-Man exhaled out, he then shot up to his feet. "I've never fought a super villain team okay?! I cannot believe I just said that but that is a real frigging super villain team!"
"Take a deep breath and stop panicking." Hikio hushed him. Hikitani-kun grew conscious of the erratic breathing, he followed Hikio's advice.
Huntsman got up to his feet as well, peering at the smokescreen he had made down below. It was slowly dissipating and the Sinister Six's silhouettes were appearing. He said to Spider-Man, "We can't delay. They are going to tear the streets apart…We do this together."
"Both of us? Six monsters?" Spider-Man's heart pulsed in his chest, feeling the weight of taking on the Sinister Six.
"If they're hunting us, we hunt them back." Huntsman laid out a strategy, three batarangs were brandished in between his fingers, "Split the load. I take three, you take three."
"Right, keep them away from fighting as one. Okay." Spider-Man nodded, veins pumped with adrenaline.
The two perched on the roof's parapet. Hikio gave some last pointers for Hikitani-kun. "Think fast and smart. Exploit weakness, plan and react. And don't hold back. You cannot hold back."
"Got it. Let's do this." The Web Slinger leaped off high into the air, the Huntsman dived down.
The Splendid Spider-Man spun a web attaching it to a building and he swung fast. The Dark Knight of Chiba spread out his cape like wings he pulled up into a glide. One soared down with other swinging above, advancing towards their prey.
Spider-Man pointed his legs forward and into the smoke. Rhino received a full force swinging kick, his head jerked to the side with slobber flying out. Rhino actually felt that kick, it got him down on his knees. Spider-Man reached out and grabbed the Rhino's horn to perch on it. He shot a web line to the Vulture's ankle. Spider-Man pulled hard and Vulture's back was on the ground again. With the buzzard tethered to the web, Spider-Man leaped off the Rhino's horn and threw him over his head. Dr Octopus was getting up to his feet with his mechanical arms helping him, only to get a human buzzard crashing into him.
"He's back!" Shocker turned to them and aimed his vibrating gauntlets, only to leave himself vulnerable from behind. He received three batarangs embedded into his back and two boots crushing him into the ground face first. Huntsman rolled forward in the momentum and got off Shocker. He followed up the attack, spinning around he drove a knee into the side of Shocker's head. This blow resulted in a broken visor from the Shocker.
"The hell are you huh?!" Scorpion yelled at the Huntsman. The hooded ghoul did not answer and threw three more batarangs. Scorpion extended his tail out in front of him to protect himself. One batarang got blocked, the other two zipped through the defences and they stabbed into Scorpion's chest.
"Argh!" Scorpion recoiled away in pain. Huntsman spotted the weakness in the tail, it was not flexible enough. It would not be able to provide close-up defence.
"You son of a bitch!" he aimed his stinger and fired his poison goo. Huntsman rolled away and the glob shot past him, which splattered on the Shocker's chest just as he got up from the knee strike to the head.
"Aaaah! Watch it you sack of shit Scorpion!" Shocker yelled out as the poison corroded into his suit. Shocker blasted the poison off him with his vibrating metal glove. Huntsman's attention went back to Shocker. While Shocker was getting distracted by the green on his chest, Huntsman slipped out a non-bladed batarang and threw it at him. In the air, the batarang split into two with a cable tied to each end, becoming a batarang bola. Shocker got coiled up on the chest, keeping his arms in place.
"What the blue hell are ya-" Shocker's shock was capitalised again when another batarang bola entangled around his ankles. He lost his balance and fell face down again. "Aargh! When I get out of this ya hoodie bastard, I'm blowin ya goddamn head off!"
"Eat shit you bitch!" Scorpion shouted at Huntsman poising his tail again. Huntsman rushed towards the poison spitting villain. Scorpion was about to fire another glob of green when Huntsman shot a mesh of net from his gauntlet encasing the tail. Poison soaked the net, but halting the stinger's attack gave Huntsman the opening to close the distance.
Scorpion swung his tail in an attempt to at a sweep attack, but Huntsman leaped over it with his cape stretched out. With his red eyes and black cape he gave the image of a demon lunging in. Before Scorpion could position his tail again, Huntsman launched a boot into Scorpion's face. He kept up the assault. Grabbing the batarang in Scorpion's chest he pushed it in further, resulting in a loud yell from Scorpion. Huntsman threw a punch up his chin, Scorpion's head jerked upwards. With his neck open for an attack, Huntsman release his grip on the batarang and jammed three fingers into Scorpion's neck, digging into the throat. He started gagging and arched forward. Huntsman raised up a leg and smashed it into Scorpion's knee. One final hammer punch on his head and Scorpion was knocked down and out with a damaged throat and a broken knee.
It was at that moment Shocker managed to free himself from the bolas. He got up and yelled, "Dodge this freak!" Shocker fired a blast of shockwave. Huntsman lunged to the side, barely avoiding the full force of the blast. However, the impact to the ground had enough force and Huntsman was careened away.
"Neeaarghhh!" Huntsman crudely rolling across the road and his body rattled in pain. He quickly performed a recovery roll and threw pellets on the ground. Smoke erupted and with the dust cloud from the shock black earlier, visibility was obscured everywhere. Shocker cautioned forward in the cloud, pointing his shock gloves forward.
"Ya can't hide forever boy!" Shocker taunted. "Show yourself!"
Shocker waited for something, anything to pop up, but there was nothing. No sound, no movement. Shocker turned around, eyes peering for any sign, the tension was grating into this patience. The silence was getting Shocker's heart pumping. "Come on…come on…"
"Over here! Over here!" A voice cried out up ahead in front of Shocker. "Help me! Help!"
"Scared are we hero?" Shocker leered, "I'll put you outta ya misery!" he blasted a shockwave to the cry for help, the blast cleared the cloud right through. However, there was no one there. No hooded punk, no Spider-Man, no one. Instead, there was some small cylindrical tube with speakers on the road. It was an audio decoy.
Shocker had a boot into the back of his calf, causing him to trip forward. A hand grabbed his head pulling him back for a knee strike to the side of his face, knocking him into a daze. Huntsman threw a pair of batarangs which stuck into Shocker's gauntlets.
The shock gauntlets sizzled with sparks. Shocker on his back, had a good look at Huntsman's raging red eyes with baring teeth. Huntsman raised a leg up over him.
"Whoa hero! Whoa easy there hero-" Shocker plea was cut short as Huntsman brought his leg down, delivering an axe kick on Shocker with his heel smashing the solar plexus. Shocker gasped out and convulsed, he could not breathe after his solar plexus' got caved in from the axe kick. Huntsman did not let up, Huntsman pinned him down and kept up an unrelenting fury of punches on Shocker's face. Shocker could not do anything as his vision violently disappeared when Huntsman delivered a final crunching blow into the face. Shocker's face was levelled, blood leaked from Shocker's nose and his eye socket bruised black and blue.
Huntsman could not rest from two victories when a pair of giant Russian arms grabbed him from behind. Kraven had finally entered the fight, he held Huntsman up in a bear hug and squeezed tight.
"Neearghh!" Huntsman growled in surprise and pain.
"Be still and let the hunt be over." Kraven said proudly and squeezed tighter.
Back with Spider-Man, he was dealing with getting into a crouching position as Rhino, Vulture, and Dr Octopus were coming for him. Rhino rushed in first, every stomp rumbled the ground.
"Don't hold back." Spider-Man readied himself, "This big guy's got armour all over. But he still needs to see."
"Raaaarghh! Gonna crush you!" Rhino shouted, charging closer to the Web Slinger. Spider-Man kicked off into a run a well, right for the grey giant. A massive figure rushing right for him, the Web Slinger had an idea. He dropped and slid on the road, going right in between Rhino's legs. Once he was past Rhino, Spider-Man shot a web onto his back and zipped over to perch on Rhino's shoulder. He aimed his wrist at the side of Rhino's face and a web ball impacted his eye.
"Raarhh! Ahhh!" the angered Rhino yelled out and brought an arm to rub his face. The attack on his soft organ made him trip on his leg. Spider-Man kicked off Rhino, leaping up high in a back flip and Rhino fell face down.
Spider-Man's sixth sense alerted him in the air, he bent his back narrowly dodging the Vulture's wings. He shot two web lines attaching Vulture from behind. Spider-Man yanked his webs, pulling himself in fast he landed on Vulture's back. Vulture flew up higher and the Web Slinger started inspecting the humming pack he was on.
"Not flapping your wings? Guess this is the source behind your flight." Spider-Man thought. "Don't know if I should punch this, looks like metal."
"Trying to break my tech again? Ha!" Vulture scoffed, "Won't work a second time! My pack is made of reinforced steel!"
Spider-Man ignored whatever Vulture said, he could not understand it either way.
"But your arms are wide and exposed…" Spider-Man had an idea. He vaulted over Vulture's head. Still holding onto the buzzard's head like a fulcrum, he swung down to Vulture's underside.
"What are you doing?!" Vulture yelled at him in confusion.
"This shit better work!" Spider-Man thought. He released his grip on Vulture's head, with both hands free they clenched with his thumbs and index knuckles out. He struck out, both hands jabbing right above Vulture's armpits, right through the auxiliary nerves and shoulder joints. The attack may not appear dextrous but it did its work.
Vulture screamed out, immediate shocking pain ruptured all over his arms before they became numbed and useless. Vulture's arms dropped down and went completely slack, along with his wings. The buzzard's wings were disabled, he fell from the air with Spider-Man keeping up the attack. Hikitani-kun threw a right cross on Vulture's face, and a left cross. With his enhance strength, the punches knocked a couple of teeth out of Vulture, his jaw was broken, droplets of blood and spit flung out of his lips. Spider-Man grabbed Vulture's collar, shot a web line with his other hand, and swung down.
"Hiyaah!" Spider-Man shouted as he threw the clipped buzzard hard at Dr Octopus on the road. The eight-limbed villain reached out with a mechanical arm, catching Vulture and setting him on the side. Spider-Man pulled another web line harder, speeding in right for Dr Octopus and pointing his legs at him for a kick.
Another mechanical arm extended out to grab him, Spider-Man had to abandon his plan of attack and let go his web. He dodged the metal arm striking above him and he landed on the road with a roll. The two stared at each other for a second before the Spider-sense went off again and the ground was shaking. Spider-Man jumped up high as Rhino charged in from the side, Rhino raised his arms up to catch him, but the Web Slinger's reflexes prevailed as twist his body about dodging the grab.
"This guy's all rhinoceros except for the face? He might be strong enough to tear the webs? Then web him where he can't reach." Spider-Man got another idea once he landed on the road. Rhino turned around brought his hands up together and hammered down. Spider-Man jumped back, dodging the impact as Rhino rumbled the earth, cracking the ground with his hands. Spider-Man took the chance, shooting out heaps of webbing sticking Rhino's hands to the ground.
"What the?!" Rhino shouted in surprise. Spider-Man lunged forwards and grabbed Rhino's massive head. He made his hand gesture and shoved a web shooter's nozzle into the nostril. Web fluid started rushing into Rhino's nose and stuffed themselves inside, partially clogging up the nasal passage.
"Ah! Ah! Ahhh!" Rhino started yelping out in terror and shock. He ripped his hands free from the road to hit the bug on his face. Spider-Man jumped off him in time and the Rhino received his own fists to the face in the confusion. His nostrils burned with the webbing inside, Rhino stumbled back, Spider-Man lunged out perching on the horn. He started crawling around Rhino's head with a trail of web fluid. Spider-Man kept circling Rhino's head until there was cocoon of webbing on the grey giant's head.
His nose was completely sealed off, the cocoon on his head greatly reduced any air entering the mouth. The Rhino's breathing was getting erratic, he stumbled around in his panic until the hulking mass was slowing down. His air supply was removed, with oxygen depleted the horned giant's legs was losing his strength and they wobbled. Very quickly, Rhino had toppled over.
Spider-Man's senses alerted him of an attack from behind again. He jumped forward, evading the snapping claws from one of Dr Octopus' metal arms by an inch.
"Well played Spider-Man. I knew you were finally getting serious when you stopped cracking your pathetic little jokes." Dr Octopus was suspended in the air with the aid of his metal arms. Spider-Man took note that blood was oozing from the hole in Dr Octopus' shoulder.
Dr Octopus winced from the brief pain, "And I see you have called in a friend to aid you. Little good it will do you! Whoever he is, he will pay dearly for wounding me, once I am done with you arachnid!"
Hikitani-kun may not know English, but he had a general idea of the displeasure from the man with the elongated metal limbs. The lenses from Spider-Man's mask narrowed and he crouched down low with one hand on the floor.
With Kraven the Hunter, he continued putting the squeeze on Huntsman in a powerful bear hug. The immense pressure on his arms and ribs was crushing Hikio. His quick thinking got him hunching over to put his feet on the ground. Kraven smirked, he pressed down on Huntsman to keep him in the hold. It was a trap. Huntsman's left hand reached and took out a small pallet. He had tricked Kraven into bringing his head closer to Huntsman's.
Hikio shifted his head away, pointed the pallet at Kraven's face and crushed it in his fingers, blowing a puff of tear gas into his eyes. Kraven groaned out in surprise, he recoiled his head back and that moment of distraction gave Huntsman the edge. He shot his head back striking Kraven's nose and sprung his heel back, kicking the knee and stunned Kraven even more and he broke free of the bear hug. Huntsman leaped ahead creating distance between him and Kraven. He turned around with a scowling growl on his lips. Kraven rubbed the irritant off his face, his eyes were completely bloodshot but he endured the pain. Kraven stood proud and tall, he started striding around Huntsman circling him. Huntsman had his scowling lips shut and he kept glaring, he circled around Kraven. Both sized each other up. The red eyes from Huntsman's mask continued staring at the man in leopard pants. Kraven raised a brow at the intimidation display.
"Hmm." Kraven smirked, "Allow me to introduce myself. I am Sergei Kravinoff, but please, call me Kraven. Kraven the Hunter."
"…"
Silence was the response Kraven got, the shrouded ghoul in front of him continued circling around glaring at him.
Kraven raised his brow again, "I have travelled across the world, hunting the mightiest games in all forms. And I have long been hunting the Spider-Man, the most elusive prey I have ever encountered. But you." Kraven pointed at Hikio. "You are nothing like the Spider-Man. You are different. Vastly different."
"…"
Kraven received no reply for his comment again, but he continued anyway, "You do not waste energy with humour. You are cunning. You are ruthless. You show no mercy. You do not just subdue, you crush and break your enemies. Kravinoff sees what you are." Kraven put his arms up open-palmed, "Well met, fellow hunter. Ah it is good to meet another one! You and me, we are alike. We are apex predators. We are alpha hunters!"
Huntsman tilted his head, showing complete dismissal of Kraven's words. He lifted up a hand and pointed a finger at Kraven.
"You are a thug. Not a hunter."
Kraven's eyes widened for a brief moment from the remark, he reached for his machete. "I will show you my prowess in battle. You will learn the strength that is Sergei Kravinoff."
Huntsman pulled out his escrima sticks, flicked them to extend them, and combined them into a bo-staff, he got into a kamae and the tension was about to explode. Kraven rushed with his machete raised up high. Holding his bo-staff in his two hands, Huntsman blocked the slash overhead. He blocked another attack from the side, and another attack from above again, it all happened under the span of three seconds.
Huntsman twirled the staff in a windmill getting Kraven to step back. He spun around low swinging his staff at Kraven's shins. The Russian jumped up to evade, but Huntsman followed up with a second attack when his back faced Kraven. Planting his hands on the ground and sprung out a boot backwards, connecting a kick into his foe's abdomen.
"Urgh!" Kraven groaned as he staggered back. Huntsman rolled away for distance and faced him in a stance with his staff. Kraven lunged out with downwards slash, Huntsman put his staff in a horizontal guard and sparks flew when metal clashed against metal. Kraven swung his blade upwards and Huntsman blocked it again. Kraven used his momentum to flip his machete into a reverse grip. His blade came down again, but it managed to hook Huntman's staff and Kraven's other hand gripped the staff as well. Kraven pulled Huntsman's staff close and him with it, Kraven leaned back and threw Huntsman off as he did a back roll. Huntsman grunted when his back impacted the ground but he quickly recovered and got up to his feet. His hands, however, were no longer holding his staff.
"Hah!" Kraven kicked the bo-staff away, "Cunning, but inferior."
The Russian sped in forward with his machete poised overhead. Huntsman swerved to the side dodging a slash from above. Kraven swung his blade sideways but with his arm stretched out, Huntsman struck one palm into the elbow and another hand catching Kraven's wrist. The bigger man's strength almost broke through Huntsman's resistance but Hikio managed to hold firm. Kraven's machete arm was in a lock with Huntsman's palm pushing against the elbow and the other hand holding the wrist in a twist.
Huntsman raised up a leg and slammed his boot into the side of Kraven's knee, grinding down his shin, and stomped on his foot. Huntsman pumped a knee up into Kraven's locked elbow with the same leg. Huntsman drove an elbow into the side of Kraven's head. While Kraven was distracted from the pain and his balance welted, Huntsman knocked the machete out of his hand and it clinked across the road. Huntsman followed up his attack and made a spinning kick into the back of Kraven's head. The Russian athlete stumbled forward, but he turned around his second weapon from his waist, his boomerang. He threw the curved piece of wood hard.
"Mmrrgh!" Huntsman brought his forearms in an X to guard. Huntsman's gauntlets took the blow from the boomerang and he took a step back to steady himself. Kraven jumped up with leg out and kicked Huntsman's blocking arms.
"Neearghh!" Huntsman growled as he took the full force of the Russian's kick and got knocked off his feet. Once he landed on his back he made a quick recovery roll and was facing Kraven again.
Kraven continued his prideful remarks. "Yes, yes you are cunning and ruthless. A battle so much more thrilling and invigorating than the Spider-"
Kraven's prattling was cut short when a sharp batarang was thrown his way. His eyes widened and quickly pulled spear down knocking it away. He was not anticipating two more coming and they cut across an arm and a thigh.
"Ah!" Kraven shook the quick pain off, wiping the seeping blood of his wound, "Ho ho! A few tricks left Kravinoff sees! Very cunning indeed!"
Kraven chuckled and charged in pointing his spear at Huntsman. Hikio shifted to the side knocking the pole away, he shot a fist straight for Kraven's gut but the bigger man blocked the punch with the other end of the spear. Kraven pushed Huntsman back and lunged out with his spear. Huntsman swerved again as the sharp pole stabbed into the road, but now Kraven's face was exposed. The Russian received a knee to the face. Kraven leaped away, his face scrunched up from the hit to the nose. The irritants in his eyes were taking its toll. Eyes were stinging, nose was aching with bruises, and his pride was getting dented. Kraven was slowly losing his enjoyment.
Huntsman reached for his grapnel launcher and pulled out the cable till it was long enough for a whip. Kraven spun his spear over his head, Huntsman got into another stance with his cable in his hands. The big Russian man roared out and charged in again with his spear aimed for Hikio. Huntsman backed away from the spear as it stabbed into the road. He jumped back creating more distance from Kraven, and he started spinning the cable like a windmill.
"Raarghh!" The Russian ran right for Huntsman. Hikio threw the grapnel cable in response, coiling itself around the spear. In a motion of fluidity, Huntsman raised up a leg and looped the cable around his shin and foot.
Huntsman stomped down hard, using his leg to yank the cable his way. Kraven nearly tripped as his spear was pulled forward and it slipped through his fingers. Huntsman turned on the grapnel launcher and the cable reeled back. He took the chance and dashed forward, catching the spear in the air. Huntsman lunged while pointing the sharp end at his prey. Kraven's thigh exploded in searing, excruciating pain. The agony burned through his entire leg and he yelled out his lungs. Huntsman growled his fangs at his fallen prey while he twisted the spear, plunging it deeper into the thigh.
"It's over Kravinoff!" Huntsman shouted and threw a volley of punches across Kraven's face. The barrage was too much and Sergei Kravinoff was smashed into the ground. Huntsman plucked the spear out, blood poured from the gash and he stepped back. He panted through clenched teeth and his heart beat rapidly in his chest.
"W-What a-are you…" Hikio heard a groan from his prey. Even after his face was minced in, Kraven managed to utter out a question. Who was the superior predator that had beaten Sergei Kravinoff in battle? Hikio stood tall over his prey. Placed a foot on Kraven's chest, he pressed down hard, red eyes staring into Kraven.
"I'm the Huntsman."
He soccer kicked Kraven's face and finally he was out. He caught his breath while surveying the grounds around him, Scorpion was knocked out with a broken knee, Shocker was unconscious and had his face caved, and Kraven the hunter had just became prey.
"Oh shit. Spider-Man." Huntsman remembered, his concern face showed. He quickly collected his gear and hurried his way to Hikitani-kun.
Elsewhere down the road, Spider-Man jumped up high into the air as a mechanical arm slammed down onto road. He web zipped up higher gaining altitude, evading the grasp of another mechanical arm from Dr Octopus. Spider-Man twisted around in the air till he could get an aim at Doc Ock and fired a web ball at his face.
Dr Octopus' head jerked back once the web ball made impact. "Daargh! You will regret that arachnid!"
A third arm zoomed through the air to grab Spider-Man, but his reflexes saved him and he pulled his head back. He dodged a mechanical limb above him and landed on the road. He shot web line attached to the arm. He yanked it down hard and the limb crashed on the road. Spider-Man fired a volley of webs at it, holding it down. He jumped up on it and began dashing down the mechanical arm towards Doctor Octopus. His spider-sense went off, a second metal arm came right for Spider-Man from the left. He vaulted over it but a third arm came from the right and he had no space to manoeuvre.
"Ahhh!" Spider-Man got struck from the side, his bone rocked in his body whilst he bounced and rolled down the road, but he quickly got back up. The fourth metal arm was ripping the webs off the first arm. Doctor Octopus smirked and his arms strode towards Spider-Man.
"I am like fighting four enemies at the time with this guy." Hikitani-kun groaned in his mind.
"Oh the look of debilitation and doubt. How fitting." Dr Octopus chided at him. "And now Spider-Man, your doom."
"His weakness…his weakness…the man himself." Spider-Man thought, he crouched down focused the strength in his legs and leaped up stories high. He swung around, circling Doctor Octopus and hailing down web balls aiming for the man behind those metal tentacles.
Doctor Octopus brought two metal arms in front of him blocking the projectiles. One ball slipped through his defences and whacked the bleeding wound on his shoulder. The cephalopod villain recoiled and he held his injury. That got his anger boiling, his metal arms clamped onto the side of a building and he began climbing upwards. Each time a metal arm clutched onto the brick wall it rumbled.
Spider-Man climbed up his web and zipped up higher. "Shit! I got to find a way to get past those arms and take the guy out!" Spider-Man planted his feet on the building wall and ran up, "Something to throw at him?! Some tool to distract him?! Or some-"
He found his answer once he got onto the roof, his counterpart had arrived on the opposite end. Huntsman rushed over and the two reunite. Spider-Man now had a plan.
He whispered hurriedly to Huntsman, "Listen, that doctor tentacle guy is coming up. I'll hold off the tentacles, you put the man down."
Huntsman nodded and fished out a pellet, "Get behind me, and shield your eyes."
Doctor Octopus ascended up, the attacks on his face and his shoulder wound had made him much more irate than he already was. One metal arm reached for the roof and clamped onto it, followed by another arm. They pulled him up and the Doctor was itching to get Spider-Man by the throat. When he got to the top, however, a small black orb rolled over to him. It exploded in a flashbang, blinding and dazzling Doctor Octopus.
"Aaarghh!" Doctor Octopus covered his face with his hands, but it was opening needed for Hikitani-kun.
Spider-Man webbed up the two metal arms down to the roof's floor. Before they could free themselves, he spun more strings of web plastering them still. Huntsman sped in and struck his bo-staff on Doctor Octopus' bleeding shoulder, he continued his attack by spinning his staff whacking the knee and up to the chin. The villain's remaining two metal arms extended out and curved towards Huntsman while he was putting the beat down. Before they could catch Huntsman in their claws, they got ensnared in webs from Spider-Man. The Web Slinger tapped into his strength and he got into a tug of war with the metal arms.
They changed targets and went for Spider-Man, but they went rigid when Doctor Octopus got a backhand to the face from Huntsman. The metal tentacles got yanked down to the floor. They had no chance of getting back up when Spider-Man kept up his storm of webs, subduing all of them for Huntsman to take down the man behind all those metal limbs.
Doctor Octopus' took another bo-staff strike to his ribs, then back to the wound on his shoulder, then to his knee, and to the chin. Doctor Octopus may be an evil genius, but he was definitely no fighter. He was overwhelmed by the punches, kicks, and bo-staff strikes. Huntsman did a roundhouse kick across his face, Doctor Octopus fell to the side and he was exposed.
"Spider-Man!" Huntsman called out and flipped to the side. The Web Slinger spun a line onto Doctor Octopus's chest and pulled hard. While Doctor Octopus flew towards him, Spider-Man lunged forward pulling back a fist. He punched across Doctor Octopus' face much harder than he normally would. Spittle of blood flew out along with a couple of teeth. The evil genius' jaw was broken and he crashed into the floor out cold.
Spider-Man and Huntsman stood above the fallen villain, taking a moment of respite in their victory. Both of them hunched over steadied their breathing. Spider-Man took in the moment, beating an actual team of super villains is still a head wracking notion.
"Thanks. You ok?" Spider-Man asked Huntsman and he nodded. "You've taken care of your share?"
Huntsman nodded again. Hikitani-kun took a closer look at the knocked out Doctor Octopus, those metal arms looked almost like they were welded behind his back.
"Alright. Are we going to take these guys to jail?" Spider-Man asked.
"None of this makes sense." Huntsman responded.
Spider-Man turned back to him, "What do you mean?"
"They know you, but you don't know them. If the Magician is behind this, why would he bring people from your world to target you if you don't know them? It would not make it personal on our end."
There was a gust of wind chilling through them and their attention went back to Doctor Octopus. They stepped away in shock when the unconscious doctor starting shaking. The colour in his face was draining and it was slowly shrinking.
"What the hell?!" the eyes in Spider-Man's lenses widened. "What's happening to him?!"
The shape of his skull was showing from the sinking skin, he was turning into a husk. Purple lines were glowing all over Doctor Octopus' husk of a body along with the metal arms. The glowing purple starting outlining Doctor Octopus and formed into a portal underneath his body. The villain body structure melted. His body, his clothes, and the metal arms were dissolving together into a giant thick black sludge. The unrecognisable muck sunk into the purple portal and it closed up in a blink.
The sight got Spider-Man and Huntsman stricken with confusion. A man with metal arms they had just defeated, melted and got taken into a portal.
"W-What?" Spider-Man could only utter that.
Huntsman got down on a knee, inspecting the spot Doctor Octopus had disappeared. There was no residue, no ash, no evidence or a clue. A thought came in Hikio's mind. He rushed over to the rooftop's parapet, peering over to see Vulture and Rhino. They too had purple portals glowing beneath them. They melted down into them and disappeared. Huntsman got to the other end of the roof to see the other three villains. Shocker, Scorpion, and Kraven, liquefied into their own portals and vanished. The entire Sinister Six, just gone after the battle for the streets of Chiba.
He now knew what was going on, "Shit!"
"What?" Spider-Man asked.
"He's not real," Huntsman pointed at where Doctor Octopus was, "none of them were real. They're constructs."
"From the Magician?"
"We've been flushed out." Huntsman's heart rocketed to his throat. "The others."
Tobe Kakeru, Miura Yumiko, Yukinoshita Yukino, and Hikigaya Hachiman got to her condominium. In the elevator up to the fifteenth story, the silence between the four was constricting them. With a ding, the elevator opened and they poured out. Yukino was more than perturbed, still taking it all in from with…multiverse crisis nonsense. She took out her keys and unlocked her apartment door. The other three got in without much tact, etiquette and courtesy be damned for now.
"We just wait here until those two come back." Kakeru said.
"Okaeri."
Everyone turned white. The floor in the Yukino's apartment turned into an oily screen of black. A dark purpled humanoid stepped out of the kitchen and leaned against the wall. Yukino's eyes trembled in fright, her legs wobbled and her shoulders shook. She turned around for the door, but a translucent purple barrier rose up from the floor and Yukino ran into it like a glass wall. Yukino shrieked and nursed her nose. The barrier surrounded them and the Magician edged closer.
"Everyone get behind me." Yumiko and Kakeru said in unison, standing in front of Yukino and Hikigaya. Their hearts pounding in their chests.
"Oh how have they poisoned you." The Magician's voice was haunting and echoed around the apartment. He raised up his hand and tendrils burst out from his fingers, coiling them up in place. All except for Hikigaya Hachiman who stood there frozen. The screams from the usually cool-headed Yukino was muffled when a tendril wrapped around her mouth shutting her up. Yumiko and Kakeru yelled out and struggled to free themselves in their coils before their own tendril covered their mouths too.
"Now that the stage is set," the Magician said, "Hikigaya Hachiman." He turned to the last one standing.
"Let's talk."
Okay so this AN is to address FrnzJsf's review and to those that spotted the same issue. Shouldn't Spidey/Hikitani-kun know about the Sinister Six and the lore behind it since he picked up the Spider-Man name from Marvel Comics?
From what I understand from 'The Splendid Spider-Man', he has a very limited amount of comic book knowledge. He knows about the movies but not much else about it. It is Kakeru that knows everything about the lore, so he will know about the Sinister Six when he and Spidey reunite. It's part of the plot point to reveal that Spider-Man's 'mantle' was taken from a comic book.
New DCD, if I should change it up that Hikitani-kun should know about the Sinister Six, please let me know.
