Poe turns when he hears giggles behind him. Turning around, he shakes his head with a smile as he sees Ben and Rey walk into view.
"Where were you two?" Poe asks, trying to not sound too annoyed.
The newlyweds giggle and Rey blushes.
"We got lost," Ben chuckles, nuzzling Rey's nose playfully.
Poe rolls his eyes with a sigh but cannot help but smile. He is happy Rey has found the love of her life. It took him a while to get used to the idea of having Kylo Ren around. He knows Ben Solo is no longer the Supreme Leader of the First Order. But it still was a challenge to overcome. The first thing Ben did was apologize when Rey brought him back with her to the Resistance. It took Poe and Finn longer to accept the apology than most of the other Resistance fighters. But seeing how happy Rey was with this once dark man, the generals decided to accept it.
"Well, now that you're here, we can go over your entrance," Poe pushes on.
"Our entrance?" Rey asks, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes! Lando is going to announce you to everyone and then you'll walk in for your first dance," Poe explains.
"Do we have to make a big deal? I just want to walk in quietly and dance with my husband. Does everyone really need to watch?" Rey asks, a blush crossing her cheeks.
She feels Ben's hand slide around her waist as he presses a kiss to her temple.
"Just keep your eyes on me, Rey. Everything else will fall away," he whispers in her ear before kissing her cheek.
Rey nods and turns to kiss his lips as he was trying to kiss her cheek again. She smiles at him and he grins back at her.
"Ok then, let's go! I'll let Lando know you're ready!" Poe says excitedly as he rushes inside.
"How long must we continue to indulge them?" Rey asks.
Ben chuckles and hugs her close.
"Not long, my love. Soon we'll be alone. And I'll treat you this evening," he whispers.
He loves how Rey's cheeks blush at his words. His lips find her blush lips once more as he guides her to the doorway. They can hear Lando's voice even with the door closed.
"Hello Everyone! Allow me to introduce to you, for the very first time, Mr. and Mrs. Solo!" Lando exclaims.
The crowd erupts into applause as the doors swing open. Rey cuddles closer to Ben. He leans down and brushes his lips against her ears.
"Remember, keep your eyes on me. I'm with you, Rey," Ben whispers.
"I'm with you, Ben," Rey whispers back.
He holds her with one arm wrapped around her small waist while his other hand holds her left hand. They walk in together and feel their bond spark with love. Their eyes never leave one another's as they make their way inside and walk onto the dance floor. Ben turns Rey gently so she faces his chest. His right hand rests on her hip as his left hand holds her right hand in his grip.
As the applause from the crowd dies down, the music starts up and Ben begins leading Rey in a slow sway. Rey's eyes don't leave his and she smiles up at him as the music takes them. She loves how her dress swishes about as Ben elegantly glides with her on the dance floor.
"You continue to amaze me," she whispers to him.
"I do?" he asks softly.
"Yes. I didn't know you danced," Rey responds.
"I learned as a child but never did any dancing. I never had a reason to until I met you," Ben replies with a soft smile.
Rey blushes and smiles up at him. They continue dancing together, swaying gently to the music. Their love can be felt by everyone in the room. The couple suddenly hears a clinking of glasses surround them as they dance.
"Why are they doing that?" she asks softly.
"They want us to kiss," Ben replies.
They look at one another wordlessly for a few moments. Ben pulls Rey closer to his chest as he spins them both around. They smile at each other and lean closer, kissing each other gently but with passion. Everyone claps and cheers as they watch the couple. Some tears are shed by a few family members as they look on. Rey and Ben pull apart just a bit to catch their breath, grinning at each other.
"They didn't need to ask," Rey whispers.
Ben chuckles and spins Rey out and then back in again. Her giggles fill the entire room as the music moves to a crescendo. The pair moves as if dueling with lightsabers, a familiar dance they know by heart. Ben spins Rey out one more time and pulls her into a kiss as the music crescendos to the final note. Everyone cheers for the couple as Rey and Ben's kiss sends spark after spark of passion through their bond.
