Episode 527: A Kalos Start
After making the decision to start his journey off to Santalune City, Sora, Kairi, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Clemont, Bonnie, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, Eclair, and the Digimon start to take off for the Pokémon Center to register for the Kalos Pokémon Center.
"Thanks for showing us the way to the Pokémon Center, Clemont," Sora said.
"It's the least I could do, Sora. I'll have to confess, I'm a bit in awe with you," Clemont admitted.
"You were?" Sora asked.
"Yes I was, Sora. I saw how you were willing to risk it all for Pikachu, Froakie, and that Garchomp. Just watching you gave me courage," Clemont said.
"You don't have to thank me that much. I just did what anyone would have done in that kind of situation," Sora said.
"It's true," Kairi said. "He risked himself for me, and he didn't even know me back then."
"But, all that changed when we started traveling together, Kairi," Sora said. That made Kairi smile so affectionately.
Over to Vaniville Town, the boy was getting set on his own journey.
"Today's the day, I begin my Pokémon journey. I'm going to enter the Kalos Pokémon League, and come out on top," the boy said.
Over in Serena's house, she chaned into a dark gray tank top with a white collar, dark gray thigh‐high socks, red double waist side buttons pleated skirt, black high‐tops with a pink semi‐Pokéball printing on the sides—similar in design to Hilda's shoes. She was trying to choose which hat to wear. Her choices were a dark red beanie with a tufted top or a dark pink hat paired with a black hatband and ribbon bow. A knock on the door is heard.
"Come in," Serena said. Her mother opened the door.
"Serena, are you stepping out?" Serena's mother asked. Serena holds up two hats.
"Mom, which one should I wear?" Serena asked, holding out two hats. Serena's mother thought for a moment and she made her choice.
"I would go with this one," Serena's mother said, pointing to the hat with the tuft. Serena goes with the dark pink hat.
"This one then," Serena said.
"If you already knew, then why did you ask?" Serena's mother asked.
"Because anything you didn't pick is the cuter one. So, I picked this one," Serena said.
"I see. So, where are you going?" Serena's mother asked.
"Lumiose City. I'm going to pick my first Pokémon!" Serena said.
Back in Lumiose City, Sora, Kairi, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Clemont, Bonnie, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, Eclair, and the Digimon made it to the Pokémon Center.
"Welcome to the Pokémon Center. How can I be of service today?" Nurse Joy asked.
"Nurse Joy, I would like to register for the Kalos Pokémon League," Sora said.
"Of course. Please place your Pokédex on the panel," Nurse Joy said. He does so and he is registered.

"And you're all set," Nurse Joy said.
"Thanks," Sora said.
"And every trainer competing in the Kalos Pokémon League will be in need for a Badge Case," Nurse Joy said as a Wigglytuff walks in with a Badge Case for Sora.
"Just as Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh has Chansey and Blissey, Unova has Audino, and Galar has Indeedee, you have Wigglytuff helpling out," Sora said.
"Yes. Wigglytuff assists with the care of the Pokémon that comes in here," Nurse Joy said. "Good luck."
"Thanks again," Sora said.
A little while later, Sora made contact with Professor Oak's lab.
"Sora, hello. I trust you made it to the Kalos region?" Professor Oak asked.
"Yeah, professor. And I just registered for the Kalos Pokémon League," Sora said.
"Good work, my boy. May I ask what Pokémon you have caught while you were there?" Professor Oak asked.
"Just these," Sora said, letting out Fletchling and Froakie.
"A Fletchling and a Froakie. Two Kalos Pokémon, and you have only just arrived. Well done," Professor Oak said. "Where are you right now?"
"We're all in Lumiose City," Sora said. "And we just met Professor Sycamore there as well."
"I thought you might, my boy. And have you challenged the Gym in Lumiose City?" Professor Oak asked.
"Well, the Gym Leader wouldn't let me in, because I didn't earn any Gym Badges yet. So, I figured I should try my luck in Santalune City instead," Sora said.
"As life gives you lemons, you make lemonade," Professor Oak said. Lea's scream is heard somewhere inside.
"What was that?" Sora asked.
"It's either your Gengar or Kairi's Froslass playing a prank on Lea again, or it was Isa's handy work. I'm afraid I'm going have to cut this call short. But, it was good speaking with you, Sora. Good luck on the way," Professor Oak said. He hung up.
"Better make contact with the SMASH Tower. They should know about Team Shadow being here," Sora said. He made contact with the SMASH Tower. Alia answered.
"Sora, good of you to call. You and the others make down safely?" Alia asked.
"Yeah we did. I thought I tell you that Team Shadow is in Kalos," Sora said.
"Team Shadow? Seriously?" Alia asked.
"Seriously. Pass this news onto everyone else," Sora said.
"On it," Alia said.
"Also, did anything happen while we were gone?" Sora asked.
"Just some girl in a green blimp. We managed to capture her. We think she might be a member of the Brotherhood of Darkness, so we're keeping a close watch on her," Alia said.
"You do that. If anything else happens, we know who to call," Sora said.
"Right," Alia said as she broke contact.
Sora and Pikachu stepped out of the Pokémon Center and right up to the rest of the group.
"You waited long?" Sora asked.
"Not too long," Biyomon said.
"We were just waiting for you, Sora," Palmon said.
"Our very first stop is in Santalune City," Sora said. "Where do we start?"
"The best way to start is by going through Route 4. And we could be there within a few days," Clemont said.
"Route 4 it is," Sora said. He then paused when he realized Clemont said "we". "Hold on, you're not tagging along with us, are you?" Sora asked.
"We sure are," Clemont said.
"You don't need to show us around anymore," Karen said.
"Silly Karen, that's what friends do for each other," Bonnie said.
"She's right, guys. It never hurts to have some more friends tagging along," Ventus said. He was obviously using it as an excuse to get to know Bonnie better.
"I guess we could let you guys tag along," Sora said.
"Yay!" Bonnie said.
With that said, Sora, Kairi, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Clemont, Bonnie, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, Eclair, and the Digimon began to make their way to Santalune City.
Meanwhile, Serena making the final preparations for her journey.
"Well, I'm off," Serena said.
"You got everything, Serena?" Serena's mother asked.
"I do. I'll be off!" Serena said, taking off on her journey.
"Don't forget to practice your Rhyhorn racing!" Serena's mother called out.
"I won't!" Serena called back. The woman waited until she was completely out of sight and she sighed.
"We'll see about that," Serena's mother said. Serena walked down the streets of Vaniville Town when she saw a familiar face.
Hey, Serena," the boy greeted.
"Hi, Calem," Serena greeted. "You're heading to Professor Sycamore's lab, too?"
"Yeah, to retrieve my first Pokémon. Looks like great minds think alike," Calem said. He blushed heavily as he looked at her. Her beauty was overwhelming for him. "Say, since we're heading the same place, I was wondering if you would like to hang out with me in Lumiose City."
"Sorry, but I have some other plans," Serena said.
"Okay," Calem said. He sighed, feeling disappointed as be mentally kicked himself. He said in his thoughts, "Stupid! I knew it wasn't going to work!"
Meanwhile in Route 4, Sora, Kairi, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Clemont, Bonnie, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, Eclair, and the Digimon were walking down the forest as they spotted a Chespin in the woods, eating a berry.
"Look, a Chespin!" Ventus said, pointing at Chespin.
"It's the Grass Type Starter Pokémon in Kalos, right?" Sora asked.
"That's right. Seeing a Chespin in the wild is pretty rare," Clemont said.
"This is the first time I have ever seen one," Karen said.
"He's really cute," Kairi cooed. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Fly right in, Fletchling!" Sora called out. Fletchling came right out, flying. "Peck!" Fletching flew right at Chespin and gave him a peck. Chespin fought back by using Tackle. Chespin then used Vine Whip on the tiny robin Pokémon. Fletchling is struck by the vines. "Use Quick Attack and then Peck!" Fletchling came at Chespin with Quick Attack, but dodged. Fletchling came at Chespin with Peck. Fletchling pecked Chespin quite a few times. Chespin has taken some heavy damage due to his weakness to Flying Type moves. "Tackle!" Fletchling lands a tackle onto Chespin. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it at Chespin. The spiny nut Pokémon flows inside and the Pokéball wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. "And I got myself Chespin."
"Pi, Pikachu!" Pikachu said.
"That was impressive, Sora," Clemont said.
"Chespin would make a great addition to the team," Karen said.
"Very impressive," a voice spoke. They turned a young man coming right at the group. "I was eyeing you, and I was impressed by the way you handled your Fletchling to catch that Chespin. While I was watching, I thought to myself, how are you in a Pokémon battle."
"How would you like to find out for yourself?" Sora suggested.
"Hoping you would say that. Let's make it a two-on-two battle," the young man suggested.
"I'm game when you are," Sora said.
"Okay then," the young man said, taking out a Great Ball and threw it. "Go right in, Pidgeotto!" He threw his Great Ball and his Pidgeotto came right out in the air.
"Let's make this an air battle!" Sora said, turning to Fletchling. "Go right in, Fletchling!" Fletchling flew in to take on Pidgeotto.
"Okay, Pidgeotto! Use Wing Attack on that little runt!" The young man ordered. Pidgeotto flew right at Fletchling with Wing Attack.
"Use Quick Attack to dodge!" Sora ordered. Flecthling dodges and came at Pidgeotto with Quick Attack.
"Use Double Team!" The young man ordered. Pidgeotto made several copies of itself. Fletchling went through one of the copies. "Now, use Wing Attack!" Pidgeotto came at Fletchling with Wing Attack, landing a hit.
"Fletchling! Try to find the real Pidgeotto and use Quick Attack!" Sora ordered. Fletchling opened his eyes and try to find the real Pidgeotto by focusing. He managed to find the real one and lands a hit on the bird Pokémon. "That was awesome, Fletchling!"
"Wow, Fletchling is really fast!" Bonnie said.
"With that tiny size, he'll have to be," Patamon said.
"And that seems to working in Sora's advantage for right now," Hawkmon said.
"Pidgeotto! Use Gust!" The young man ordered. Pidgeotto flapped its wings right at the tiny robin Pokémon. Fletchling is caught in the Gust. "Move in with Wing Attack!" Pidgeotto came right at Fletchling, but he rammed right into Pidgeotto. Sora's opponent was surprised by Fletchling's resolve "Huh?"
"Yeah! Use Peck, again and again!" Sora ordered. Fletching lands a series of pecks onto Pidgeotto, sending down to the ground. Pidgeotto was now down and out. The young man called back Pidgeotto and he growled.
"Okay, try this on for charge! Go! Bunnelby!" The young man called out. Bunnelby came right out to battle. Sora called back Fletchling to rest.
"Good job, Fletchling. That's enough for today; you battled enough," Sora said. He took out another Pokéball and threw it. "You're up, Froakie!" His Pokéball opened up as Froakie came right out to battle. Nearby, a wild Fennekin is sniffing around and it spots something unexpected. It eyes Sora with so much interest. "You ready to rock, Froakie?"
"Froakie," Froakie said.
"Okay, Bunnelby! Use Double Slap on that Froakie!" The young man ordered. Bunnelby came right at Froakie.
"Dodge and use Bubble!" Sora ordered. Froakie dodged and fired Bubble right at the hare Pokémon. "Use Pound!" Froakie lands a Pound onto Sora. Fennekin looked right at Sora with so much awe. It looked directly into his face. "That was great, Froakie!"
"Bunnelby! Use Brick Break!" The young man ordered. Bunnelby came at Froakie with Brick Break with its ears.
"Grab Bunnelby's ears!" Sora called out. Froakie grabbed Bunnelby's ears. "Bubble!" Froakie fired Bubble and sends Bunnelby flying. "Water Pulse!" Froakie forms Water Pulse and gave Bunnelby a powerful hit, resulting in a knockout.
"Ah! Bunnelby!" The young man gasped.
"Hoorray! Sora won!" Bonnie cheered.
"Knew you could do it, Sora," Karen said. The young called back Bunnelby and walked up to Sora with a handshake.
"That was a good battle," the young man said.
"Thanks. You too," Sora said.
With the battle over, the group started to take off again, unaware that Fennekin started to follow them.
Back in Lumiose City, Calem and Serena walked right in. Sophie walked up to them both.
"You must be Calem, and you're Serena," Sophie said.
"We're here to see Professor Sycamore about choosing our first Pokémon," Serena said.
"I'll go and get him. Please wait for a few moments," Sophie said.
Calem and Serena waited for a few minutes for Professor Sycamore to arrive. They were greeted by the professor when he walked in.
"Thank you both for waiting. I almost forgot you were coming by today," Professor Sycamore said.
"Glad you didn't forget, professor," Calem said.
"I have the three Pokémon with me as we speak," Professor Sycamore said, taking out three Pokéballs and opened them. A Chespin, a Fennekin, and a Froakie all came out at once. "Now who will make the first choice?"
"I think Serena should choose first," Calem suggested. Serena looked at him and blushed.
"Thanks," Serena said. She looked directly at Fennekin, and the fox Pokémon looked back at her. "The Pokémon I choose is Fennekin."
"It seems Fennekin has always been your choice, huh?" Professor Sycamore asked. He chuckled a bit. "And it seems Fennekin agrees with you, Serena." He looked directly at Calem. "Now, which of the remaining two will you choose?" Calem looked between Chespin and Froakie. He looked Froakie and he went with Froakie.
"I choose Froakie as my first," Calem said.
"I see. Very well," Professor Sycamore said. He took out two Pokédexes and ten Pokéballs. "You're going to need these. These Pokéballs will help contain any Pokémon you happen to come across. And the Pokédex will provide you any information on any Pokémon you point at, or look up." They accepted the Pokéballs and Pokédexes.
"Thank you, professor," Calem and Serena both said.
"You are both welcome, and take good care of your new Pokémon," Professor Sycamore said.
With that said, Calem and Serena took their leave of the lab. Calem turned to Serena.
"Say, if you're sure that you don't wanna have a look around Lumiose City with me, you can," Calem said.
"Like I said, I have my own plans, Calem," Serena said.
"I understand. I'll go register for the Kalos Pokémon League. See you later," Calem said.
"See you later," Serena said.
With that said, Serena set off to search for Sora. She looked around for Sora. There were people who said they haven't seen the boy who matches his description. Just then, the homeless man approached her.
"Excuse me," the man said. Serena turned to him. "I couldn't help but overhear that you're looking for someone," the homeless man said.
"Yes. He has brown spiky hair. And he should be wearing a necklace that looks like a crown," Serena described. The homeless man stroke his chin.
"I know who you're referring to. He and his friends are heading to Santalune City, I believe. Just follow the road to Route 4, and you will find him there," the homeless man said.
"Thank you," Serena said. She sees him taking off. Serena wasn't sure why he would just walk off after pointing her in the right direction, but she decided not to question it, and went to follow his advice.
The homeless man looked up in the sky.
"Floette, I thought if I use live Pokémon for the Ultimate Weapon to revive you, things were going to be better, but they weren't. And I was given the curse of immortality, unable to die, and forced to live with the consequences of my actions. I became even more broken than I already was. I lived with this guilt for three thousand years," the homeless man said in his thoughts.
(Flashback)
We got back to three thousand years as Kalos was only a kingdom. By then, a war has broken out in Kalos. The homeless was given a Floette by his mother. And also, he was the king of the Kalos region. This particular Floette has her tail and eyebrows that are blue and the areas around the ears are red. Its flower is different as well, with six petals instead of five, three of which are big and three which are small. The stem is red, there are no leaves below the flower, and the part on the top of the flower is a black cone shape. The flower's underside is black, and the three big petals have a pattern of red and black. The Floette was forcefully taken from him by the soldiers, and she had died.
"Floette! Floette! No!" The king pleaded. Tears flows from his eyes. He stood up on his feet. He vowed to bring Floette back. He began to build a structure that bares a strong resemblance to Floette's flower. A young man with orange hair come in the room.
"AZ, you gotta stop this madness!" The young man said.
"I am close to my goal to bringing Floette back!" AZ said.
"Brother, please listen to reason! I'm sorry about Floette, but you need to let her go!" AZ's brother pleaded.
"And why should I do that?" AZ asked.
"Just so she can rest in peace," AZ's brother said. "Nothing you do can bring her back! You're sacrificing those Pokémon for nothing!"
"Nonsense! It's going to work! It requires a huge amount of energy, but it has to come from lots of Pokémon to do that," AZ said. He uses the machine to bring back his deceased Floette, killing several Pokémon in the process. Floette was brought back to life, but his rage has not subsided. He turned the structure into a weapon.
"Brother no! Don't! Why must you do this?" AZ's brother asked.
"I cannot forgive the world for what it has done to Floette, so I must punish them for their sins," AZ said, activating the weapon. A blast of blue energy shot right into outer space and right back down to Earth. The blast has killed the soldiers and Pokémon on both sides. "It is done." He sees the destruction, but Floette was unhappy by he did to bring her back to life. She wasn't what she wanted at all. She started to take her leave of AZ. "Where are you going?" He looked right into Floette's eyes and saw the tears. He was suddenly saddened by the sorrow by Floette's saddness. "Floette?" Floette began to float away. "Where are you going? Come back. COME BACK! PLEASE!" Floette tearfully floats away as he looked around and he sees what he had done. He got on his knees and started bawling. "EHAT HAVE I DONE?!"
(Flashback ends )
"Not once for the past three thousand years have I smiled. No amount of joy has filled my heart even once. I have no one to blame for my foolishness but myself. If only you could forgive me," AZ said in his thoughts.
That night, Sora, Kairi, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Clemont, Bonnie, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, Eclair, and the Digimon made a stop in the woods for a meal. Kairi had prepared some pepperoni pizza macaroni and cheese. Kairi has prepared some Pokémon food for the Pokémon as well. Chespin took a bite of the food she had provided and quickly got hooked to it.
"So yummy!" Bonnie said.
"This is amazing, Kairi!" Clemont added.
"Thanks. It's one of Sora's mom's recipes. She wanted me to make sure Sora got to eat one of his favorites," Kairi said.
"Figured that's where you got it from," Sora said. Clemont looked at the Digimon quite curiously.
"Hope you don't mind me asking, but it's been on my mind for a while now," Clemont said.
"What do you wanna know, Clemont?" Terra asked.
"How exactly did you come in contact with these Digimon in the first place?" Clemont asked.
"We met them in the Sinnoh region," Ventus said.
"It's true. We first met Agumon back in Jublife City, right after Kairi won that Pokémon Contest being held there," Aqua said.
"Pokémon Contest? You mean, Kairi's a Pokémon Coordinator?" Clemont asked.
"That's right. It's true," Kairi said.
"It must have been fun to be in one of those," Bonnie said.
"How did Agumon get here in the first place?" Clemont asked.
"I can answer that. I was brought here with a Porygon by a group of humans called Team Galactic. We both ran out before Sora and the rest showed up," Agumon explained. "Sora caught Porygon, and I joined them in the journey."
"Gabumon and I met them when we got through a Digital Gate from the Digital World," Biyomon said.
"We met the rest when a Pokémon Hunter calling herself J showed up and tried to catch me, and sell me for money," Meowth said. "She got what she deserved when she got busted."
"So, they traveled with us throughout the Sinnoh region when Sora battled against the Gym Leaders there, and while Kairi won her Contests," Terra said.
"Along the way, we bumped into Team Galactic on several occasions, along with some evil Digimon," Sora said.
"You mean, there's bad Digimon?" Bonnie asked shocked.
"Yeah. They were being led by a vampire Digimon named Myotismon who wanted to rule both the real world and the Digital World," Ventus said.
"Myotismon?" Clemont asked.
"He's a Digimon you do not wanna meet," Meowth said.
"We met Myotismon when we got transferred in the Digital World, hoping to stop him from coming into the real world, and end the war going on," Kairi said.
"There was a war?" Clemont asked.
"Yeah. We were being led by a noble Digimon named Leomon. We called ourselves the Resistance," Veemon said.
"We fought against Myotismon's forces and against another evil Digimon named AxeKnightmon, who was competing to rule the world with Myotismon," Patamon said.
"The war ended when we defeated Myotismon once and for all," Gomamon said.
"I only heard about the Digimon after I met Sora and the others back in Unova," Karen said. Clemont and Bonnie looked at her.
"What do you mean by that, Karen?" Bonnie asked.
"Karen and I were seperated when we were born. The doctors told my mom that she died when she was giving birth to her," Sora said.
"How did your dad react to that?" Clemont asked. Sora felt a jab in his heart when Clemont asked that question as Kairi took him by the hand.
"He wasn't around when we were born. Karen and I never knew him. He died in a car accident just three months before we were born," Sora said. Clemont and Bonnie were stunned to hear that.
"Sorry to hear that," Clemont said.
"Don't worry about it. You didn't know," Sora said.
"So, what's with that necklace you're wearing? It looks like a crown," Clemont said. Bonnie looked right at it.
"Wow, are you a prince, Sora?" Bonnie asked.
"No, I'm not a prince. This necklace has been in my family for many generations. It belonged to my dad, and it belonged to his dad before him," Sora said.
"It must be important to you," Clemont said.
"It is. This necklace is a symbol of knighthood. All of the boys in the family wore it, and the people saw them as knights," Sora said.
"A knight," Clemont said.
"You mean the kind of knights who would carry swords and rescue pretty damsels in distress?" Bonnie asked excitedly.
"That's one way to put it, Bonnie," Sora said. "In fact, I could tell you a story about one of my ancestors. That's if the rest of you aren't bored with it already," Sora said.
"I never get tired of it," Kairi said.
"No objections from me, Sora," Aqua said.
"Please, tell it! Tell it!" Bonnie said.
"Alright, alright. Here goes," Sora said. Sora shared the tale of Zest and Garland. He started off on how Garland was a pure knight until his corruption, and about how Garland was banished. Clemont and Bonnie held on to the story as Sora told it.
"That's quite a story," Clemont said. He was impressed even more.
"That's what I thought when I first heard it," Karen added.
An hour later, the group fell asleep, wanting to get an early start in the morning. Sora did remember that Alexa has a sister who's a Gym Leader, so he wondered what Type of Pokémon does she have under her belt. He would have to wait and see for himself when he comes to that bridge.
