Episode 528: A Blustery Santalune Gym Battle!
On the very next morning, Kairi went inside of Sora's tent, and she gave her boyfriend a kiss on the lips. He opened up his eye and he chuckled.
"Now, aren't you supposed to be the one to be asleep and I'd kiss you to wake up?" Sora asked.
"I just wanted to give that a try, lazy bum," Kairi said. "You getting up or what?"
"I'm up, I'm up," Sora said, standing on his feet out of the tent. He stretched his arms. "Nothing like the first campout in a new region."
"You up to pick some fresh berries with me, Sora?" Kairi asked.
"Always," Sora answered. The couple started to walk hand-to-hand as Angel went inside of Sora's tent and snuggled with him.
Sora and Kairi started to pick a lot of berries, enough to make some fresh Pokémon food, and other uses. Fennekin eyes Sora and it slowly approaches Sora.
"That should be enough," Kairi said.
"Good. Let's head back," Sora said. Fennekin walked up to him and rubbed its paw on his leg. He looked down and spots the fox Pokémon. "A Fennekin." He bends down. "Now, where did you come from?"
"Fennekin," Fennekin said, nuzzling him. Sora gently pets it. Kairi spots her boyfriend petting the fox Pokémon.
"Oh, she's so cute," Kairi said.
"Oh, this Fennekin's a girl, huh?" Sora asked. He picked Fennekin up and she starts to lick his face.
"Isn't that cute? She likes you, Sora," Kairi cooed.
"I like you, too," Sora said. He chuckled between the licks. He then puts Fennekin down. "I bet you wanna join us for breakfast, right?"
"Kin," Fennekin said. He carried the fox Pokémon in his arms and she smiled, hearing his heartbeat. They returned to camp to see everyone wide awake.
"You two having your morning stroll?" Biyomon asked in a playful tone.
"Yes. We grabbed some berries, and picked up a new friend along the way," Sora said.
"Cool, a Fennekin," Ventus said.
"How cute," Bonnie cooed. She pets Fennekin. She giggled happily as she poked Fennekin's nose, causing Fennekin to sneeze. Fennekin unleashed a bit of ember breath.
They all had their peaceful breakfast. Once they have finished, the group were starting to get ready to go.
"Now that everything is done, we should get moving," Terra said.
"Pikachu," Thor said.
"It was nice meeting you, Fennekin. Now, we gotta go now," Sora said. Fennekin wasn't going to let Sora go that easily, so she ran right in front of Sora. "What's wrong, Fennekin?"
"Kin, Fennekin, Fen, Fen, Fennekin, Fennekin, kin," Fennekin said.
"Fennekin is saying she wants to be with you, Sora," Meowth translated. Sora smiled and he took out a Pokéball and held it.
"Well then, you're welcome to join us," Sora said. Fennekin was happy as she jumped as soon as Sora tossed the Pokéball. Fennekin flowed inside and stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. "Once again, all three starter Pokémon."
With that said, the group started to make their way through.
Meanwhile not too far away, Serena and her Fennekin was sitting at a table, enjoying their own breakfast. Serena and Fennekin bonded in just a short time, and soon, her Fennekin started to pick up Serena's traits. She took one last sip of her tea.
"This is what I needed. No waking up early for Rhyhorn racing, and no Fletchling pecking me in the morning," Serena said. She stretched her arms as Fennekin did the same thing. She giggled, finding it adorable. She stood up and spoke to the waiter inside.
"Thank you for everything," Serena said, bowing her head. "Santalune City, here we come."
Back to the group, a Dedenne is eating a berry happily. Dedenne grabbed another berry, but dropped it. Sora, Kairi, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Clemont, Bonnie, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, Eclair, and the Digimon were walking by when Sparky caught it.
"Pika?" Sparky asked.
"What's up, Sparky?" Ventus asked. He sees the berry in the Pikachu's arms. "Where did you get that berry?"
"Pikachu," Sparky said.
"Denne!" A voice chirped. Ventus and Sparky turned to see Dedenne, looking at the berry. Sparky gave Dedenne the berry. The rest of the group stopped when they noticed Ventus and Sparky had stopped.
"Ven, come on," Sora said.
"Clemont, look! A Dedenne!" Bonnie exclaimed happily. "Catch it for me, Clemont! Please, please, please! I promise I'll take good care of it!"
"Alright, alright. If that's what you want, Bonnie," Clemont said. He took out his Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Helioptile!" Helioptile came right out to battle. "Helioptile! Use Mud-Slap!" Helioptile fired Mud-Slap, but Dedenne dodges and came at Helioptile with sparkling electricity. Dedenne nuzzled against Helioptile.
"Isn't that Nuzzle?" Gabumon asked.
"Doesn't Nuzzle cause paralysis?" Meowth asked.
"Normally yes, but since Helioptile is an Electric Type Pokémon, he's immuned to paralysis," Kairi said.
"Use Pound!" Clemont ordered. Helioptile lands a hit onto Dedenne. Clemont took out a Pokéball and threw it. Dedenne flowed inside and the Pokéball wobbles around and around. Bonnie was hoping Dedenne would stay inside. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. "Yes! I caught a Dedenne!"
"Yay!" Bonnie cheered. Clemont took the Pokéball, containing Dedenne.
"Congratulations on the catch, Clemont," Terra said.
"Thanks, Terra," Clemont said.
"Isn't Bonnie too young to be a trainer?" Aqua asked.
"Yeah, but Bonnie loves Pokémon, so it'll be good practice until she's old enough to be a trainer," Clemont said.
"That's the same way with me and Sparky," Ventus said.
"Pika, Pika," Sparky said.
"Think you can let Dedenne out now, Clemont? Please?" Bonnie asked.
"Sure thing, Bonnie," Clemont said. Clemont lets out Dedenne.
"Hi, Dedenne. My name's Bonnie. This is my brother Clemont. This is Sora, Kairi, Ven, Karen, Terra, Aqua, Pikachu, Angel, Blossom, Sparky, Eclair, Thor, Meowth, Agumon, Gabumon, Veemon, Biyomon, Wormmon, Palmon, Tentomon, Gomamon, Hawkmon, Armadillomon, Patamon, and Gatomon," Bonnie introduced.
"Nice to meet y, Dedenne," Kairi said. "You're a little cutie." She pets Dedenne on the tail. Dedenne took that to its liking.
"Nenne," Dedenne said.
"Dedenne likes that, huh?" Bonnie asked.
"I think he does," Kairi said.
"So, Dedenne's a boy?" Bonnie asked.
"Yes," Kairi said. "You wanna try that?" Bonnie petted Dedenne on the tail the same way Kairi did. Bonnie giggled.
"How about I clean you up? You got really dirty battling Helioptile," Bonnie said.
"Denne, ne," Dedenne said as Bonnie was cleaning the antenna Pokémon. Dedenne then curled up and fell asleep.
"Aw, Dedenne fell asleep," Bonnie said.
"He must have used up some energy from battling," Wormmon said.
"Let's keep going," Sora said.
"Yeah," Bonnie said.
"Shh," everyone all said, when Bonnie realized she was a little too loud.
"Yeah," Bonnie whispered.
The group started to make their way to Santalune City for Sora's first Gym battle in the Kalos region.
Aboard the SMASH Tower, Tron Bonne has been their prisoner ever since her capture.
"Hey! Get me out of here right now! Do you know who I am?! I'm the daughter of the House of Bonne! Get me out of here, or else my brothers will make you beg for mercy!" Tron demanded. Just then Mega Man Volnutt came to the brig to see what the yelling about.
"Stop yelling, I'm coming, I'm coming," Volnutt said. He spots a familiar face in the cell. "Tron?! I wasn't expecting to see you here!"
"Mega Man! Good of you to see you again!" Tron said lovingly.
"What are you doing here? And how did you get here?" Volnutt asked.
"I was looking for you. You owed me a date; and you didn't set it up, so I thought it'll be better if I just find you, and bring you back home for our romantic rendezvous," Tron said. Volnutt sighed.
"Sorry, it's just I've been really busy here lately. We just have some villains out on the loose, and we have to keep an eye open for them," Volnutt said.
"I'll forgive you for leaving me hanging if you let me out," Tron said.
"Like to, but I think I might get into loads of trouble if I do," Volnutt said. He started to take his leave.
"Rock Volnutt, you get back here this minute! Get back here and release me and take me out now!" Tron yelled.
The group arrived to Santalune City at last. Upon arriving, they made a quick stop to the Pokémon Center to train for the upcoming Gym battle after having his Pokémon checked up..
"Excuse me, Nurse Joy, mind having my Pokémon looked at?" Sora asked.
"Of course," Nurse Joy said.
"Huh? We met you in Lumiose City!" Bonnie said, making the nurse giggle.
"Actually, the Nurse Joy you met there is one of my cousins," Nurse Joy said. She took out a photo of herself and the other Nurse Joys in Kalos. "See? These are my sisters and cousins in here."
"It's pretty much like that everywhere we go," Sora said. "I tell you, I was pretty confused when I first came across that."
"Really?" Clemont asked.
"Yeah. The first stop was in Viridian City. And it was ran by Nurse Joy. And then in Pewter City, we met another Nurse Joy who happens to be her older sister. You'd get used to it after a while," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said. Sora handed her his four Pokéballs as Kairi handed the Pokéball containing Vulpix.
"Have you been to the Santalune City Gym yet?" Nurse Joy asked.
"We just got here, and we thought it'd be better if I train for it first," Sora said.
"That's a wise decision on your part, young man," Nurse Joy said with a smile. "It may take a few moments, so please wait until then."
Sora sat down on a nearby couch as Kairi joined her boyfriend, and Karen joined her brother while they waited.
"So, Sora what'll be your strategy against the Gym Leader?" Karen asked.
"You know something, that's a good question. Because I never got a chance to ask Clemont about what Type the Gym Leader uses," Sora said.
"The Gym Leader here uses Bug Type Pokémon," Clemont said. "So, your best bet you would use Fire and Flying Type Pokémon."
"Not a bad idea, Clemont. As soon as we get our Pokémon from Nurse Joy, we'll start training right away," Sora said.
"We can help you with that, Sora," Tentomon offered.
"Since we're both insect Digimon, it might help you in your battle," Wormmon added.
"Great idea, guys. We did a lot of training back in the day; and we can do that again," Sora said.
"Yay, I wanna see that," Bonnie said.
"Denne, ne," Dedenne said.
"Me too," Ventus said.
"Pikachu," Sparky said.
After getting their Pokémon back from Nurse Joy, the group went to the battlefield as Tentomon and Wormmon got ready to help Sora train for the Gym battle.
"Ready when you are," Sora said.
"I'll go first," Tentomon said, buzzing forward. "Show me what you've got, Sora." Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"You're up first, Fletchling!" Sora called out. Fletchling came right out, flying in the air. "Okay, Fletchling! Use Steel Wing!" Fletchling came at Tentomon with Steel Wing. He dodged the attack.
"Super Shocker!" Tentomon shouted, sending out his electric attack.
"Dodge!" Sora called out. Flecthling dodged Tentomon's attack. "Great dodge, Fletchling!" The tiny robin Pokémon's wings glow bright light blue and it repeatedly waves them, causing light blue, crescent-shaped energy waves to be fired at Tentomon.
"Yeow!" Tentomon yelped.
"That was Razor Wind just now," Ventus said.
"Fletchling must have just learned it," Meowth said.
Unknown to the rest of them, Serena was stepping outside and she saw him with her own eyes.
"It's him! After these years, I finally get to see him again!" Serena said. She started to make her approach when Aqua noticed her.
"Something we can help you with?" Aqua asked. The rest of the group turned to see her.
"Um, I'm just watching him train, if that's okay," Serena said.
"You can if you wanna," Ventus said.
"Pi," Sparky said.
"Thank you," Serena said happily.
"Okay, Tentomon, you still willing to keep going?" Sora asked.
"A gang of Kuwagamon couldn't scare me off, and anything you got isn't going to do that to me," Tentomon said.
"That's what I wanted to hear!" Sora said. "Okay, Fletchling! Steel Wing!" Fletchling came at Tentomon with Steel Wing.
"And here goes! Super Shocker!" Tentomon shouted. Fletchling dodged and smacked Tentomon with Steel Wing. He fell right on the ground. "Ouch! That smarts!" He gets back up and buzzed. "Okay, here's a little something else! Rhino Spin!" Tentomon flips over and spins on his back while charged with electricity. "Ready or not, here I come!" Tentomon spins right at Fletchling.
"Razor Wind!" Sora ordered. Fletchling gave Tentomon a Razor Wind, making him spin faster and faster.
"Everything's moving too fast! I can't stop! Jane, stop this crazy thing!" Tentomon shouted as he smashed against the wall. Sora ran up to Tentomon.
"Tentomon, you okay?" Sora asked. Tentomon got up and he was really dizzy.
"I'm fine, but why won't everything stop spinning?" Tentomon asked, falling back on his back. Sora helped him up.
"Take a break. You helped enough for today: Sora said.
"Thanks a lot, Sora. I think I need to sit back down," Tentomon said, dazzlingly making his way back to the group. He sat back down.
"Okay, Wormmon, you're up," Sora said. Wormmon crawled his way to the battlefield. He called back Fletchling and took out another Pokéball and threw it. "You're up now, Fennekin!" Fennekin came right out. Serena was amazed by that he has the same kind of Pokémon as her. "You can make the first move, Wormmon."
"Sticky Net!" Wormmon shouted, firing a stream of silk at the fox Pokémon.
"Use Ember!" Sora ordered. Fennekin uses Ember to burn the silk. Wormmon then charged right at Fennekin. "Try this on for size! Worm Wheel!" Wormmon rolled into a ball and heads right towards Fennekin.
"Dodge and use Scratch!" Sora ordered. Fennekin dodges and scratches onto Wormmon's face. "Use Ember!" Fennekin fires Ember at Wormmon. Fennekin then rushes at Wormmon with Flame Charge. He goes flying in the air. "You just learned how to use Flame Charge. That's great, Fennekin!" She wags her tail and jumped into his arms and nuzzled him. "Wormmon, you doing okay?"
"A bit on the crispy side, but I'm fine," Wormmon said.
Just then, the sound of a camera clicking is heard.
"Picture perfect," a girl's voice said. Everyone turned to see the voice came from a slim young girl of medium height. She has blonde hair cut in a chin length bob which curls under, with two slightly longer, thin locks which hand in front of her ears, green eyes and a pale complexion. She wore a white vest, grayish- green cropped pants with lots of pockets and a white belt, brown ankle boots with laces that match her trousers and a matching sweatband on her left wrist. She is holding her camera. She aimed her camera right at Tentomon. "Now, don't move." She snaps the picture. "There! Perfect!"
"Um, who are you?" Gatomon asked.
"Sorry, I just saw those two and I thought of snapping of new photos for my collection," the girl said. She looked right at Sora. "I was watching you train, and I can tell you have a good solid connection with your Pokémon."
"Thanks," Sora said.
"You training to challenge the Gym Leader?" The girl asked.
"Yeah. I figured I get that done before I get that done," Sora said.
"How about I show you were the Gym is, since you're challenging the Gym Leader anyway?" The girl offered.
"That'll be great," Sora said.
With that said, the girl led Sora, Kairi, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Serena, Clemont, Bonnie, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, Dedenne, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, Eclair, and the Digimon to the Gym with Alexa waiting outside. Serena looked right at Sora as she blushed.
"Good of you to show up," Alexa said.
"Hey, Alexa," Sora and the girl said at once. "Huh? You know her?" Everyone started laughing.
"I think I should introduce you. Everyone, this is Viola. She's my little sister," Alexa introduced.
"Nice to meet you," Viola said.
"Sis, this is the Sora I told you about. And there's Kairi, Karen, Ventus, Aqua, Terra, and the Digimon, Agumon, Gabumon, Veemon, Biyomon, Tentomon, Gomamon, Hawkmon, Wormmon, Armadillomon, Patamon, and Gatomon; but those three are new to me," Alexa said.
"My name's Bonnie."
"And I'm Clemont."
"And I'm Serena." Sora looked right at her.
"Hey, don't I know you from somewhere?" Sora asked, stroking his chin.
"Actually, you do. It was back in Professor Oak's summer camp some years ago. We were both little at the time," Serena said. Sora blinked twice when it suddenly hits him.
"Wait a minute! I remember now! You were the girl with the straw hat. And you have the same name as her! And that's you?" Sora asked.
"Yes, that's me," Serena said.
"Sora, how do you know her?" Karen asked. Kairi was starting to get a little jealous.
"It was back in Professor Oak's summer camp, like she said. I was chasing after a Poliwag when I came across with her," Sora explained.
(Flashback)
It was back in Professor Oak's summer camp as a young Serena was lost. She wore a pink dress a straw hat, and dark pink shoes.
"Where is everybody? Where did you all go?" Young Serena asked. She heard a rustling in the bushes and fell on the ground and scraped her knee. A Poliwag jumped out and dashed off. Serena was now starting to tear up. "I knew I didn't want to come to summer camp. I knew it. MOMMY!" She started crying. She heard some more rustling on the bushes and she was starting to get scared.
"Poliwag, where did you go?" Young Sora asked. He spots Serena on the ground. "Hey, you okay? Why are you crying?"
"I hurt my knee," Young Serena cried.
"Here, this will make it better," young Sora said, tying her knee with a handkerchief. "There, all done."
"Ow," young Serena said.
"Now watch this. Pain, pain, go away," young Sora said.
"Ouch, it still hurts," young Serena said.
"You shouldn't give up that easily. It's not over until it's over," young Sora said as he held out his hand. She grabbed his hand and he helped her up. "There you go. Let's head back. The camp should be this way." The two little kids made their way back to camp.

"I sure wasn't expecting to see you here," Sora said.
"I first recognized you when I saw you on TV when that Garchomp went on a rampage in Lumiose City, and I wanted to see that it really is you for myself," Serena said. She took out the handkerchief he used on her leg. "That and I wanted to give this back to you." Sora took the handkerchief from her.
"I do remember you mentioning Professor Oak's summer camp, Sora? And Gary mentioned about a storm. Was Serena one of the kids who were with you in the cabin from that night?" Kairi asked.
"Yeah, she was," Sora said.
"I remember how you kept all of us from being scared when that storm hit," Serena said. "You were the only one who wasn't scared."
"That sounds like Sora," Meowth said. Serena and Viola turned to the scratch cat Pokémon quite surprised.
"That Meowth just spoke!" Serena exclaimed.
"A talking Meowth?" Viola asked.
"Yeah, he just did. I had the same reaction as you, sis," Alexa said. "And I believe Sora has something he wants to ask you."
"Right," Sora said.
"No need, Sora. I'll be more than to accept your challenge. After all, I wanna see the power of a Pokémon League Champion with my own eyes," Viola asked. Serena, Clemont, and Bonnie were shocked to hear what Viola said.
"Pokémon League Champion? Sora?" Clemont asked. They looked right at Sora.
"I didn't mention it because I didn't wanna make a big deal out of it," Sora said, chuckling nervously.
"Wow, a Pokémon League Champion! How cool is that?" Bonnie asked.
"Really cool, Bonnie," Ventus said. "He won the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Unova Pokémon League tournaments."
"Before we get to that, how about I show you all something," Viola said.
The group entered the Gym and saw her gallery. They were of Bug Type Pokémon.
"Did you take all of these?" Terra asked.
"I sure did. As you can see, most of these are Bug Type Pokémon living in their natural habitats," Viola said. "But, these are just few of the snapshots I took."
"Viola always had a talent for snapping pictures of Bug Types. She even helps me out with my reporting from time to time," Alexa said.
"This is great work. It captures the love you have for your subjects," Clemont said, adjusting his glasses.
"Sure does. You can see how much you care about Bug Types," Bonnie said.
"Denne, ne," Dedenne said.
"I know! Viola, you're a keeper!" Bonnie said, making her eyes sparkle. She goes into a pose. "I mean, please take care of my brother!" Everyone except Clemont were a bit confused.
"Wha?" Sora asked, very confused. Clemont rushed to his sister.
"Bonnie, I told you a million times not to do that!" Clemont scolded while blushing.
"Why not? You need someone to take care of you, and I think Viola will make you a nice wife," Bonnie said.
"A nice wife?" Viola asked.
"Wife?" Sora asked, almost chuckled, but Kairi elbowed him.
"This is so embarrassing!" Clemont exclaimed. "Activate Aipom Arm!" Clemont's robotic Aipom arm grabs Bonnie. "You should mind your own business!"
"I hope you'll think about it, Viola!" Bonnie said.
"What a unique little girl," Alexa said.
"So, Sora, you ready for our battle?" Viola asked.
"Ready when you are, Viola," Sora said.
Both trainers headed for the battlefield as Kairi, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Alexa, Serena, Clemont, Bonnie, Angel, Meowth, Dedenne, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, Eclair, and the Digimon gathered to the battlefield to watch Sora battle.
"The battle between Sora Ketchum and the Gym Leader Viola is about to begin! Both sides will be using two Pokémon each! Only the challenger will be allowed to switch Pokémon, and the battle will be over when either trainer's Pokémon are unable to continue battling! Begin the battle!" The referee announced.
"My lens are always focused for victory, no matter what!" Viola said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. "Surskit! Go!" Her Surskit came on out to battle.
"So, she's starting off with a Surskit! Then, let's try this!" Sora said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Fletchling!" His Pokéball opened and Fletchling came right out to battle.
"Sora's starting off with Fletchling!" Bonnie said.
"Fletchling's a Flying Type Pokémon, so he has an edge over Surskit since it's a Bug Type," Clemont said.
"Surskit! Use Ice Beam on the field!" Viola ordered. Surskit fired Ice Beam on the battlefield. Surskit began to skate on the battlefield like it was in an Olympic event.
"Surskit's just skating on the battlefield," Gomamon said.
"Surskit are well known for their speed, so I'm wondering what she's got planned," Tentomon said.
"Fletchling! Use Razor Wind!" Sora ordered. Fletchling unleashed Razor Wind.
"Use Protect!" Viola ordered. Surskit uses Protect to block Fletchling's attack. "Use Signal Beam!" Surskit fired Signal Beam right at the tiny robin Pokémon.
"Fletchling, dodge and use Steel Wing!" Sora ordered. Fletchling dodges Surskit's Signal Beam and lands a hit with Steel Wing. "Now, use Peck!" Fletchling gave a few pecks onto Surskit.
"That's showing her, Sora!" Ventus cheered for his cousin.
"Steel Wing might not have done too much damage, but Peck sure did," Clemont said.
"Use Sticky Web!" Viola ordered. Surskit fired a barrage of silk at Fletchling.
"Use Double Team!" Sora ordered. Fletchling uses Double Team to dodge Surskit's Sticky Web. Sticky Web misses as the original came flying in. "Use Razor Wind!" Fletchling unleashed Razor Wind and lands a hit onto Surskit before it could respond. Surskit had been taken down by Fletchling's bombarding moves.
"Surskit is unable to battle! Fletchling wins!" The referee announced. Viola called back her Surskit.
"Get some rest, Surskit. You've earned it," Viola said.
"Good job, Fletchling," Sora said.
"Fletchling, ling," Fletchling chirped.
"I have to admit, you're even better than I thought. Most of my challengers would have had a hard time battling my Surskit while skating on the ice, but you made quick work of my Surskit without even blinking," Viola said. "But, you're not out of the woods yet." She took out another Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Vivillon!" Her Vivillon has pink wings.
"A Vivillon," Ventus said.
"Vivillon's her secret weapon. I knew she was saving that one for last; she always does," Alexa said.
"Fletchling! Start things off with Steel Wing!" Sora ordered. Fletchling flew right at Vivillon with Steel Wing.
"Dodge it!" Viola called out. Vivillon dodges Fletchling's Steel Wing. "Use Psychic!" Vivillon uses Psychic on Fletchling and slammed him down on the ground.
"Fletchling!" Sora called out. Fletchling struggled to get back up and spreads his wings out. "I knew you weren't staying down that easily! Use Steel Wing, followed by Peck!" Fletchling flew right at Vivillon with Steel Wing, landing a hit, and lands a few more pecks on the scale Pokémon.
"Vivillon! Use Gust!" Viola ordered. Vivillon uses Gust to send Fletchling back.
"Push on through, Fletchling! Don't let it stop you!" Sora called out. Fletchling powered right through the Gust like it was nothing. Viola was surprised by what she was seeing. "Use Razor Wind!" Fletchling unleashed Razor Wind, landing some hits on Vivillon.
"Use Sleep Powder!" Viola ordered. Vivillon uses Sleep Powder and it puts Fletchling to sleep.
"Wake up, Fletchling!" Sora called out.
"Picture perfect! Vivillon! Solar Beam!" Viola ordered. Vivillon fires Solar Beam right at Fletchling, dealing some heavy damage.
"Fletchling!" Sora gasped. Fletchling fell to the ground, beaten.
"Fletchling is unable to battle! Vivillon wins!" The referee announced.
"Poor Fletchling lost," Bonnie said.
"There's no way my sister will let Sora win without a real fight," Alexa said.
"Now both trainers are down to one Pokémon each," Aqua said.
"It's anybody's guess whose battle it's gonna be," Meowth said.
"Yeah, but I believe in him," Kairi said. "Sora's been in tough corners before, and he came out on top."
"She's right. Sora just gotta push back even harder," Agumon said. Sora called Fletchling back.
"Rest up, Fletchling. You've battled hard," Sora said. He took out a Pokéball and threw it. "Your turn now, Fennekin!" His Pokéball opens and Fennekin cMe right out to battle.
"Fennekin's a Fire Type, so it's got the advantage!" Serena said.
"You got that right. Sora has to play his cards right in this final round," Biyomon said.
"Vivillon! Use Sleep Powder!" Viola ordered. Vivillon unleashed Sleep Powder all around.
"Frnnekin! Use Flame Charge to dodge!" Sora ordered. Fennekin uses Flame Charge to dodge Vivillon's Sleep Powder.
"Keep using Sleep Powder!" Viola ordered.
"Keep dodging with Flame Charge!" Sora ordered. Fennekin dodged Vivillon's Sleep Powder with Flame Charge.
"Why is Sora's Fennekin using Flame Charge again?" Serena asked.
"Flame Charge can build up speed for each time it's used. Sora must have figured raw power won't be enough to win this battle," Alexa said.
"Good thinking, Sora!" Karen said.
"Pika, Pika!" Blossom said.
"If Sleep Powder's not going to work, then let's go with this! Use Gust!" Viola ordered. Vivillon flapped its wings repeatedly and sends out Gust.
"Dodge and use Ember!" Sora ordered. Fennekin dodged Vivillon's Gust and fired Ember at Vivillon, landing a hit. "Use Flame Charge!" Fennekin came charging at Vivillon with Flame Charge.
"Use Psychic!" Viola ordered. Vivillon uses Psychic to send Fennekin down on the ground. Fennekin has taken a lot of damage from Vivillon's Psychic. She slowly gets back up on her feet. She refuses to let Sora down.
"Fennekin's giving up," Ventus said.
"Sora, you can take her down!" Serena called out to Sora.
"Fennekin! Use Flame Charge!" Sora ordered. Fennekin charged right at Vivillon with her increased speed.
"Vivillon! Use Solar Beam!" Viola ordered. Vivillon fired Solar Beam right at Fennekin, dealing lots of damage.
"Fennekin! Fire Ember over and over again!" Sora ordered. Fennekin fired Ember repeatedly right at Vivillon.
"That's not going to stop me! Vivillon! Gust!" Viola ordered. Vivillon flapped its wings to stop Fennekin's Ember. Sora grinned.
"Took the bait," Sora said. "Fennekin! Use Flame Charge again!" Fennekin ran with Flame Charge just when Vivillon was using Gust. The fox Pokémon lands a hit with Flame Charge, dealing some heavy damage.
"Direct hit!" Patamon cheered.
"Why to go!" Armadillomon said.
"Fennekin is so cool!" Bonnie cheered.
"Denne, ne!" Dedenne added.
"Way to go, Fennekin!" Ventus cheered.
"Pika!" Sparky cheered as well.
"Use Ember, make it a big one!" Sora called out. Fennekin unleashed the biggest Ember she had ever unleashed. Vivillon was struck hard and it fell down to the ground. Vivillon was now down and out.
"Vivillon is unable to battle! Fennekin wins! The winner is Sora from Pallet Town!" The referee announced.
"Not bad for your first battle, Fennekin! You came out on fire, no pun intended!" Sora said. Fennekin nuzzled Sora repeatedly, happy to be praised by him.
"Now that's the Sora we know and love!" Palmon said.
"You showed her who's boss!" Gabumon said.
"I knew you could do it," Gatomon said.
"MVP!" Veemon said.
Viola called back Vivillon and she smiled.
"You battled hard today, Vivillon. Get yourself a good rest," Viola said. She looked at Sora as Alexa walked up to her sister.
"So, little sister, how was that?" Alexa asked.
"When you said Sora was tough, I see what you mean. He's one of the most challenging and most interesting trainers I have ever faced," Viola said. She walked right up to Sora with a smile. "Congratulations on your victory, Sora. The way you battled today is proof enough on how you earned the title of Pokémon League Champion. And so, to proof to everyone that you beat me fair and square, I am obligated to present you the Bug Badge." She presents Sora a badge shaped like a beetle. He accepts it.
"Thanks a lot, Viola. You're even better than I thought you were," Sora said.
"Now you only need seven more Gym Badges to qualify for the Kalos Pokémon League. And I suggest you check out the Cyllage City Gym," Alexa said.
"Cyllage City it is then," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
Now that Sora has earned his first Gym Badge in the Kalos region, seven more remains. Who knows what adventures awaits Sora and his friends throughout the Kalos region, and what Pokémon they're going to come across next? Just you wait and find out when we press on even further?
