Kat groaned as her eyes opened slowly. Her head was throbbing and her shoulders were aching terribly. She felt strange and she glanced up, seeing her arms tied up above her head with rope. That explained the sore shoulders. Her feet were barely touching the ground and the strain on her arms wasn't pleasant. She glanced around to see she was in some kind of warehouse full of wooden crates. Great. She'd been kidnapped. The last thing she remembered was walking home from the magick shop before a searing pain exploded in her head. Then nothing. She really hoped Buffy or Spike would know to look for her. She heard movement from the corner and she tensed, looking over to see someone emerge from the shadows. Drucilla.

"Fuck," Kat whispered as she tugged on her binds to no avail. Nothing good ever happened when Drucilla was around. And now Kat was with Spike. She was pretty sure she was going to die.

"Pretty little kitten," Drucilla murmured dreamily as she slowly approached her.

"Are you gonna kill me?" Kat asked pointedly. She'd rather know now and cut to the chase.

Drucilla started laughing like Kat just told the funniest joke and it unsettled her.

"I'm not going to kill you, sweet girl. We're going to be a family," she cooed, twirling around a little before standing right in front of her. Kat's heart was beating so fast she thought it would break free of her ribcage.

"William and the pretty kitten make such a pretty couple," she smirked, raising her arms and swaying her hips to some imaginary music. So it was about her and Spike.

"I know you might be jealous but-" Kat started, not really sure she had any hope of diffusing the situation. She was cut off when Dru surged at her, gripping her face tightly with her hand.

"I'm not jealous," she stated seriously with a tut. She leaned closer and moved Kat's head so she could lick the side of her face up to her forehead. Kat grimaced and tried to move away before Drucilla released her and stepped back. The blood she licked from the corner of her lips told Kat her head wound was bleeding. She hummed in delight, giving Kat a coy smile.

"I'm not jealous, sweet girl. I've always known my dear William's heart wasn't mine. Just as mine isn't his," she crooned, moving around in a weird way like she was doing a waltz. She stopped dead in front of Kat again who was helpless to do anything.

"I'm happy for him. He found his other half. He's whole," she grinned dreamily. Not what Kat was expecting but maybe she'd get out of this after all.

"I'm excited! We're going to be a happy family," she giggled as she twirled around.

"I'm going to be your grandmother," she smirked widely, clapping her hands like a child. Kat blinked slowly at her. If Dru would be her grandmother, that would mean… No. Spike wasn't going to turn her. That didn't make sense. She was just having one of her episodes or something.

"So… will you let me go?" Kat asked hesitantly.

"I left dear William a trail of breadcrumbs to find us. He's going to be so happy!" She beamed, ignoring Kat's request completely.

The door suddenly burst open and Spike rushed in, knife in hand as his eyes looked around for the threat. He relaxed at seeing Kat a little but then his eyes landed on Drucilla and a confused look crossed his face and he tilted his head.

"Dru?" He asked incredulously as he stood there warily. His eyes darted back to Kat before back on Drucilla.

"Spike!" She grinned excitedly. She moved to run over to him but he stepped back and adopted a fighting stance. Drucilla stopped in her tracks as she looked at him carefully.

"Are you not happy?" She asked sadly. She was pouting at him. Kat felt a twinge of pity for her. It was hard to wrap her head around the fact that it was Angel who made her this way. But then she remembered Angelus and suddenly it wasn't so hard anymore. They really were Jekyll and Hyde.

"Let me guess… you're here for some kind of revenge because I moved on?" He asked blandly, still standing tense and ready to fight. She started laughing again as she shook her head.

"My silly Spike. We can all be a family now," she smiled. She tilted her head, her eyes wide and an unsettling smile on her face as she stared at Spike.

"It's time," she murmured.

"For what?" Spike asked harshly.

"To turn Kat," Dru grinned. Kat looked from her to Spike, her eyes wide as her heart picked up again. This was not how things were going to go down.

"No," Spike refused firmly.

Drucilla looked as if he'd physically hit her before anger flashed on her face.

"No?" She asked menacingly.

"No. I'm not turning her," Spike said seriously. Drucilla roared, grabbing the wooden crates as she started throwing them around, screaming like a child not getting her own way. Kat felt relief when Spike took the opportunity to rush over to her, using the knife to cut her free.

"Need to get you out of here, pet," he muttered tensely. Kat's shoulders finally stopped aching so much as her hands came down by her sides.

"Don't you touch her!" Drucilla bellowed, launching herself at Spike. Kat almost toppled over and watched with wide eyes as Spike grabbed her throat, spinning her around so her back was to his chest. Kat wasn't sure when he'd traded his knife for a piece of one of the broken wooden crates, but suddenly he was pressing it against Drucilla's chest as she started whimpering.

"Spike, no!" Kat yelled, moving forward a little.

"No?" He asked incredulously, looking at her like she'd sprouted another head.

"Just… let her go," Kat murmured with a frown. Drucilla didn't have a soul and she wasn't a good person. She was a murderer and she was crazy. But that was the issue. Kat felt bad for her. She'd spent so long with her mind like this. Ever since she'd been human centuries ago to now. And it wasn't like Dru had hurt her. Okay, maybe she hit her around the head and she might have tied her up. But she wasn't going to kill her because she apparently wanted her to 'join the family'. Maybe she'd come to regret letting her go, but right now she didn't want to be the cause of it.

Spike hadn't let Dru go though and was still holding her by her throat with a makeshift stake at her heart. Kat wasn't sure how to feel about it. She knew how much Dru had meant to Spike. They'd spent so long together. And now here he was, ready to stake her because she was a threat to Kat.

"Spike…" Kat prompted, making him look at her. He looked conflicted but he finally let her go. Drucilla spun around and smacked him across the face so hard, the sound echoed throughout the warehouse.

"Naughty, William!" She scolded tearfully. She ran at Kat then and she braced herself for something bad to happen. Instead, she felt arms wrap around her tightly.

"At least granddaughter loves me," she sniffled. Spike was glaring at her and Kat awkwardly patted her on the back, unsure of what to do. She didn't want to set the temperamental vampire off. Drucilla moved away, smiling softly at her as she cupped her cheek for a moment. Kat felt uncomfortable but allowed it to happen and then Dru moved away. She gave one last scathing glare to Spike as she made her way to the door.

"It'll happen one day… You can't run from it, Spike," she said knowingly, turning to look at him.

"No, it won't," he huffed.

"It will. I saw it in the stars," she giggled, disappearing out of the door. Spike walked over to her, grabbing her chin and tilting her head to look at the wound.

"Doesn't look too bad. Need to get home and get it cleaned up," he muttered. He didn't look happy one bit. She nodded, thankful it was all over. What weird fucking night.

The walk home was tense and quiet, mostly because Spike hadn't known what to say. Not only had Kat gotten hurt because of his association with Drucilla, but he also couldn't get her parting words out of his mind.

"You're being scarily quiet," Kat spoke up softly from his side. He hummed, still no words leaving his lips. His mind was still reeling from the interaction and he had far too many feelings that he didn't like.

"You thinking about what she said?" Kat asked. His head whipped to her, wondering if she'd developed a mind reading ability and she gave him a rueful smile.

"I wouldn't worry about it too much. She was just being loopy like usual," she murmured, reaching for his hand and squeezing it. She was the one who went through an ordeal and here she was, comforting him. He'd been chilling out at home, waiting for Kat to get home from work. They were gonna watch Passions. But then some random demon knocked on his door and handed him an envelope. It was simple and concise.

'She's not coming home.'

Spike had naturally beat the Holy hell out of the demon, almost killed the wanker until he believed him when he said he was just a messenger. That some crazy eyed vampire had told him to deliver it. He'd had a feeling. Of course he had. But it couldn't have been Dru. How could it be when she wasn't in Sunnyhell? No, had to be some other vampire. Some hopped up bitch who picked the wrong vampire to mess with. He'd not made it far down the street when he'd smelt it. Kat. Kat's blood. It was the smallest of smudges on a lamppost but he'd smelt it perfectly fine. He'd been worried then. She was bleeding. Not a lot, but still too much for his liking. So he'd hurried after the trail of blood smudges until he'd found her. He should have trusted his instincts. He was even more surprised by the fact Dru hadn't killed Kat though. She didn't exactly have the gift of patience. But no. Her agenda wasn't to kill Kat, it was to turn her. For him to turn her.

He'd been offended at first. So far removed from the man Dru once knew and loved and the idea of someone expecting him to kill his true love was nauseating. But then she had to say the words that would haunt him forever. She saw it in the bloody stars. Dru was a lot of things but she was also very prophetic. She was rarely ever wrong. She could be lying to get what she wanted. Manipulative was also another of her traits. But he knew that wasn't the case. He could feel it. He didn't like it one little bit. He'd surprisingly felt nothing as he held the stake to Dru's heart. Nothing but the slightest twinge of melancholy simply for the time they'd shared. He didn't love her. Not anymore and he'd never loved her the way he loves Kat. She was a monster. And it wasn't him throwing stones at glass houses. He was a monster too but at least he was trying to be better. A good man. Dru wouldn't ever have that luxury, she was too far gone. He would have thought Kat would be glad to be rid of her. Dru was nothing if not unpredictable and there would be no way for Kat to know if she'd go after the Slayer if she felt the whim take her now she was free to go. But Spike knew why she'd done it. Seen the pity in her blue eyes. The girl and her bleeding heart. She felt too much, even for people that didn't deserve it. Part of Spike wished he had staked her. Maybe it'd make him feel better about the words on a loop in his head. Kat's comforting did little to ease his worries. She didn't know Dru like he did. She might not always make sense when she prattled on about the stars and what they'd tell her, but he knew there'd be truth to her words. He'd never willingly turn Kat so he could only come up with a whole host of scenarios where it could happen and none of them were good. It worried him.
